Pad barefoot across earthen tiles with underfloor heating. Modern insulation and a chic wood-burning Morso stove add to the cosy interior of this renovated cottage with doors overlooking the terrace and old farm buildings beyond. Enjoy cooking on the Everhot range cooker. March 2020. We’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations and using written/phone briefing with messaging. We have suspended 'Instant booking' to allow for an initial written conversation about safety. See our 'House Rules' for more information.
The Old Laundry is in countryside on a family estate with parkland, close to a listed 19th-century dovecote. The open-plan living area is in a just-converted small barn, with Morso wood-burning stove (logs provided), pamment floors with underfloor heating and two flat-screen TVs, the large one has netflix and both have freeview . It is finished to a very high standard and is a lovely mix of old and new: a contemporary kitchen with an electric Everhot range cooker, microwave and dishwasher, opening to a dining and seating area with a beautiful wooden beam. It sleeps four in two upstairs bedrooms in new pocket-sprung beds, one double, one super-king that can transform into twin beds, made up with White Company bedlinen. There is a shower/bathroom upstairs and a loo downstairs. Wifi is ADSL 2 (c17mbps).
The Old Laundry is set in farmland where horses and sheep graze. It's in the lively, history-rich village of North Elmham which has an excellent cafe, shop, and two pubs. A network of footpaths begins at the doorstep and the small lanes nearby are perfect for cycling. Guests frequently return to explore Norfolk's beautiful coast, stately homes, market towns, Norwich, and many attractions (featured in Mark and Hetty's guidebook), which include, for children, Pensthorpe's adventure playground.
  • A perfect weekend away - a really lovely place to stay. Mark and Hetty made us feel very welcome, and it was a lovely space to relax and be unashamedly lazy! Some good pubs and walks close by, or if you don’t feel like going out, it’s great for a cosy night in.

  • We had a lovely stay at The Old Laundry! Mark and Hetty greeted us on arrival and showed us around. They were exceptionally helpful with recommendations ahead of time. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed - they even stocked the fridge with eggs and milk and bread and butter. So thoughtful! Even equipped with a toy wooden train set and games for our 4 year old! Couldn’t have asked for anything more. We hope to come back again soon!!

    Allison2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great and peaceful time here. Mark and Hetty are very thoughtful hosts. We cooked many big meals in their fully stocked kitchen. Cooking using their everhot was also super fun for slow cooked stews!

  • The Old Laundry is a wonderful place to rest and relax. The space is beautiful, warm, stylish, peaceful, and cozy. It was the perfect base from which to explore the local sights. Mark and Hetty were very friendly and helpful hosts who made delicious fresh bread and marmalade for breakfast and had excellent recommendations for places to explore and eat. I look forward to visiting again!

  • Mark and Hetty were amazing hosts. They ensured they were there on our arrival, they had fresh bread waiting for us as well as homemade marmalade. They were available before our trip to give advice on local places to eat, as well as them having an online guide and a folder in the property. Such a lovely couple and a lovely place to stay. Look forward to going back. Faye & Tim

YOU'LL LOVE THE IDYLLIC & SECLUDED SETTING HERE… The garden vistas, quiet country lane, in small rural hamlet, yet enjoy being within easy reach of 'Shakespeare in Love' beaches, the rivers and lakes of the Norfolk Broads, walks in Thetford Forest, the charm of the Cathedral City of Norwich. A place that's a sanctuary away from work, offering peace and seclusion, an antidote to the stresses of modern life… especially after a dip in the heated pool. The famed big Norfolk skies are complimentary.
ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY... Whatever the time of year, the place seems to give you a warm welcome as you arrive … across little bridges, five bar gates at either side of a carriageway gravel drive, there’s an instant feeling of escape from the outside world. Greeted by a few little treats, we endeavour to ensure that you begin to unwind. As the days grow longer through Spring and into Summer, for us, the house has an extra special feel, different from its Autumn and Winter persona, but nonetheless magical. The garden bursts into life and is full of interest, as more and more time is spent outdoors, a sanctuary now out as well as indoors, it gives you a lift, raises your spirits. It's a place where several generations of family meet, friends that live a distance apart gather to catch up, birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated (21 birthdays have been celebrated here in the last 12 months from 18ths to 70ths) , couples escape the pace of working life, visitors from near and far stay to attend an event (wedding stays are popular here and we even had a bride leave here for her wedding last summer) or simply to use as the perfect base from which to explore the many experiences Norfolk has to offer. A RURAL IDYLL WITH ULTRAFAST FIBRE BROADBAND... rarely available across the county, your escape to the country doesn't mean limited or no signal during your stay with us. For your enjoyment we also have NETLIX too. SPACE TO ROAM INSIDE AND OUT... There’s much more space inside than people anticipate, as so many guests comment… light and airy, yet still cosy which, together with the outdoor garden spaces and its poolside appeals. Our fabulous kitchen is a great place to be, socialise, prepare meals, the dining room a more intimate space for impromptu meals or a dinner party, the garden room a lovely place to chill and the living room with the character of its beams, fireplace and focal point wood burner, somewhere to snuggle down with a glass of wine and catch up with your Netflix favourites. INFANTS UNDER 2 ARE ALWAYS WELCOME BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE COTS, HIGHCHAIRS OR STAIR GATES. The breakfast kitchen provides use of an American style fridge/freezer, a range style cooker with electric oven and a six burner gas hob plus a microwave. The usual crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. There's both a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and a Cafetière, so you can choose your favourite capsule or ground coffee to bring with you. We do have a washing machine and tumble dryer in our utility room. If you need to use any of these please let us know and we can facilitate this for you. If you have children within your group, we can provide a Z-bed on request for the master bedroom (this is the additional single bed) and the second bedroom has a comfortable Futon Company single sofa bed. Again, if you have toddlers, please feel free to bring a travel cots, high chairs and baby gates if required. Outside MAKING A SPLASH... Our heated swimming pool is popular with our guests… “it’s just like being in Provence” some have commented, others “a Mediterranean escape” or “transported from a warmer climate” and yes, private, secluded and for your own exclusive use during your stay here. Please note that we keep the pool open from the 1st April until 30th September, our normal Spring/Summer season. However, outside of this time, the pool may be opened on individual request with advance prior notice - a supplementary charge would apply. The gardens feel sheltered because of the vale location and really well screened established boundaries, underpinned by borders packed with an incredible variety of trees and shrubs. GARDENS TO ENTERTAIN AND FOR QUIET CONTEMPLATION... The garden spaces here are designed to entertain and for quiet contemplation. The array of outdoor dining spaces suit breakfasts for two, al fresco lunches with friends and family, barbecues, evening meals at dusk and under the stars. You can imagine how lovely it would be to move around the garden, glass of wine in hand, to sample the different vistas... and of course there's the decked surrounds of the pool, a wonderful place to unwind and wile away the hours. We have five sun loungers and other chairs around the pool. Whilst we have a few pool toys and inflatables, please feel free to bring with you any water wings or buoyancy aids (depending on the age of children and swimming abilities) and any other favourite inflatables. We also have a small BBQ in our 'herb garden' which is adjacent to the pool area - you'll see on the pictures the one showing the table and chairs (orange parasol), which is perfect if adults want to eat and drink, but still be in close proximity to the children in the pool.
TRANQUILITY WITHOUT COMPROMISING ACCESSIBILITY... A rural hamlet (only 10 houses) just a mile from the village, minutes from the NEWLY OPENED CO-OP Store on the edge of the village, offering a 24 hour 7 days per week service which includes food and drink, a cash point and petrol station. The COSTA COFFEE, which sits adjacent to it, also offers a drive-through facility. So it’s really easy to pick up last minute provisions. Necton village also has another late opening general store and post office, open 7 days a week. It has a reasonable range of provisions, newspapers, wine, beer and spirits etc. There's also a butchers shop here. The Windmill Public House in Necton is a pleasant stroll away from the house – just over a mile away. It has a restaurant and does a good Sunday Lunch. You will also find an excellent children's play area adjacent to the main road through the village (Tuns Road). The market town of Swaffham is just 6 miles away (5-10 minutes by car) and has Waitrose, Tesco and Asda supermarkets. Its market, each Saturday morning, also has specialist fish and cheese stalls.

  • A stunning house in the middle of peaceful fields. Cosy, stylish property. Spotlessly clean. Incredible hospitable hosts. Family and dog friendly beyond imagination !

    Dominik2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect place to spend new year with the kids. Lorna and Dean were fantastic hosts. The log fire was perfect, beds were comfy. The kitchen is absolutely fantastic. The outside area is perfect for kids as its enclosed and Lorna and Dean were on hand to answer any questions we had. They are both very welcoming and the house is gorgeous. We were very upset to leave such a perfect couple of days away. You will not be disappointed if you book here!!

    Brooke2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lorna and Dean were warm, welcoming and communicative hosts. They really give off a happy vibe and are like a classic BnB host and hostess - with smiles on their faces, advice for places to visit and eat and there to help if you need anything. They have a lovely place and the kitchen is outstanding. They helped us build a fire a couple of nights and didn’t even get upset when we lost their key (in the house somewhere). Our only regret is that we came in the winter and couldn’t take advantage of the pool and back garden area. Despite being cat people, they welcomed our golden retriever and we all had a wonderful time. Can’t thank them enough.

    Mac2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lorna and Dean are wonderful hosts, from quick responses to welcoming touches that make you feel at home on arrival. Their home is lovely with a decent sized outdoor heated pool. The beds are very comfortable and the whole place is very clean and stylish. The wi-fi is easily accessible and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for Lorna and Dean and I heartily recommend their lovely cottage for a visit!

    Lindsey2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect property, in a beautiful location. We cannot recommend highly enough, Lorna and Dean are excellent hosts! You will not be disappointed!!

    Mark2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great space for a family or friends’ get-together. Plenty of space for groups to escape to. Pool was a hit with the kids but also suitable for adults. Lorna and Dean are great communicators and generous and thoughtful hosts. Kitchen space works really well. Lounge is cosy and comfortable, with a woodburner we didn’t want to leave. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Retreat into nature in Owl Tree Temple, the perfect space for two amongst the trees. Here at West Lexham we have 6 Treehouses and 7 Glamping Bell Tents, all residing in 21 acres of beautiful nature and wildlife. To see all of our properties, please search for our .org website. In Owl Tree Temple you’ll find a delightfully comfortable double bed complete with colourful blankets and plenty of fairy twinkling lights. You’ll be surrounded by splashes of colour and rustic furniture collected from distant travels or reclaimed and hand built by local carpenters - it’s a magical woodland sanctuary to unwind and relax. By nightfall you can cosy up with the log burning stove (we’ve provided plenty of wood!) and enjoy a deep and restful sleep, drifting off to the sounds of the forest. For colder nights, Owl has renewably-powered central heating, making it delightfully welcoming throughout the year. Pathways through the surrounding woodland are lit by night • Please note the pool is closed throughout the winter as it is an outdoor pool. Usually we reopen this April - October Owl has its own ensuite bathroom with a steaming hot shower, with bath towels and organic hand soap and shampoo provided. There is also a small table with 2 chairs and a kitchenette complete with kettle, toaster, fridge, tea, coffee and a cool box. Outside your tree temple you’ll find tables and chairs along with your own gas-powered BBQ. For cooking larger feasts, head over to the fully-equipped, communal Garden Kitchen (Oven, hob, freezer, pots, utensils etc.). Here you’ll also find the wood-fired pizza oven and the nearby communal fire bowl. There’s so much to see and do here at West Lexham. We have a heated outdoor pool from May to October, with many guests choosing a refreshing wild swim in the lake the whole year round. There are also 2 rowing boats for you to take on the water along with a tennis court with views across the lake. We have recently completed a huge Japanese meditation garden - an enchanting spot for a morning stroll or finding a moment’s peace. We have planted every type of tree and shrub indigenous to the UK here and work hard to promote habitats for wildlife. In spring and summer, the site is alive with glorious flowers attracting many happy bees and insects. We are close to some of Norfolk’s best pubs - The Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham is a particular favourite! We love the saturday morning market in our local town, Swaffham, where there are 2 big super markets. We are also just half an hour from spectacular sandy beaches and a short drive to some awesome cultural attractions including Houghton Hall and Holkham Estate. For the kids, there are plenty of adventurous days out. We are 5 mins drive from ‘ExTREEme’ high ropes and the award-winning Hootz House at Pensthorpe is 25 mins away. Please feel free to ask us for recommendations!
There is a love of the land and a belief in sustainability in its most all-encompassing sense at the heart of all that goes on here. We are run on over 90% renewable energy, with heat provided by our renewable wood chip boiler. Our deliciously mineral-rich drinking water comes from our own chalk spring and are grounds are nurtured to be a paradise for conservation and wildlife.

  • We had a delightful stay, the place was sparkling clean, the hosts were attentive and welcoming. They were accommodating to our late arrival and all round superb. The little touches such as the carnations, milk, orange juice, bread etc were a very pleasant surprise. They obviously were thoughtful enough to think of their guests and went above and beyond. The finish of the place was modern and stylish. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The Village is located on the B1145 a route which runs between King's Lynn and Mundesley. The parish falls within the district of Breckland. Litcham is in the Launditch hundred of the Breckland district of Norfolk, England. It is almost equidistant from three major market towns: East Dereham, Fakenham and Swaffham. Litcham sits along the Litcham to Gressenhall Nar Valley Way Heritage Trail. This section of the Nar Valley way starts in Litcham and ends in Gressenhall. The Heritage Trail takes in the following points of interest you will notice point 3 is the White House ! 1. Priory Farmhouse - NHER 4072 Priory Farmhouse contains the remains of a 14th century religious building. It may have been a chapel, although in 1410 it was called a hermitage. In the 16th century the religious building was converted into a house and it has been altered and extended on many occasions since. To the northwest of the farmhouse are the remains of a moated site. Much of the moat survives as earthworks, although most of the south and east sides have been infilled. Medieval walls, pottery and a large feature, possibly the south side of the moat, have been found during building work. Houses now stand within the moat. The 17th century and later Priory Barn (now a house) is to the north of the farmhouse and to the east of the moat. 2. Site of the village stocks – NHER 11294 Opposite Priory Farm is the site of the village stocks. 3. The White House - NHER 44322 The White House, Church Street dates from the 18th century and was once a shop. It is built of rendered brick and has a former shop window with a simple entablature and pilasters. 4. Medieval moat - NHER 15535 The cropmarks and slight earthworks of a medieval moat and a medieval to post medieval trackway have been identified from aerial photographs in the field to the east of Drury Lane. A Neolithic flint scraper and medieval and post medieval coins and pottery have been found on the site. 5. Bronze Age ring ditches – NHER 17656 In the field next to the footpath aerial photography has revealed the cropmarks of three ring ditches. When the area was visited, two of the three ring ditches were visible as low mounds and prehistoric flint tools were found on one of those. 6. Greynston Manor – NHER 13536 The footpath runs next to Lounds Wood, which is the site of the moated medieval manor of Greynston that is mentioned in documents dating back to the 13th century. 7. Deserted medieval village of Grenstein – NHER 7225 The footpath runs through the site of the deserted medieval village of Grenstein, which was in existence from the 11th century. The village grew up around a green known as Dowes Green or Woodmere Green, and had been deserted by the 16th century. The earthworks of the village were ploughed in 1959, but the village street and the outline of the houses are clearly visible on aerial photographs. To the east of the village site is the site of another medieval manor known as Caley’s Manor. One of the village houses, or tofts, was excavated in the 1960s, revealing a medieval to post medieval farmstead, with a house and a large flint-surfaced farmyard with farm buildings. The buildings were built of clay lump, a technique that was still in use in Norfolk in the late 19th century. Fragments of medieval and post medieval pottery and animal bones have been found on the site. 8. Telephone box – NHER 44611 As you walk down Back Lane you will see a traditional telephone box with a domed roof. This type of telephone box, the K6, was designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. 9. Mileham Castle – NHER 7230 (accessible to the public) Straddling the B1145, a pre-Conquest road that remained the main east-west route through the county until the 17th century, this is the largest motte and bailey castle in Norfolk. It was constructed in about 1100 and its remains form a surprisingly imposing monument consisting of a motte built up around the fragments of a stone keep, two baileys and a further banked rectangular enclosure to the north of the road, which now contains Burwood Hall (built in 1793) and farm buildings. A large wooded deer park was once attached to the south of the castle. The positioning of the castle astride the road is thought to have been connected with raising revenue from a possible market place in the northern enclosure and from tolls on travellers. It is probable that the castle had fallen out of use by about 1300, but before then the tall keep, probably whitewashed, when seen against the green wooded backdrop of the deer park, would have been an impressive sight. View of the earthworks of the deserted medieval village taken from near Dairy Farm. The earthworks of the deserted medieval village of Little Bittering. (© NCC) 10. Deserted medieval village of Little Bittering– NHER 7266 (accessible to the public) The site of the medieval village of Little Bittering is visible as earthworks. These include at least one moat, a row of village properties (tofts), drainage ditches and possible ridge and furrow. Excavations and fieldwork have uncovered evidence of a prehistoric burnt mound (pot boilers), prehistoric flint artefacts, part of a lava quern stone and prehistoric, Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery. View of SS Peter and Paul's Church from the western end. SS Peter and Paul's Church, Bittering. (© NCC) 11. SS Peter and Paul's Church, Little Bittering – NHER 7267 (accessible to the public) A 12th and 13th century church, with a 17th century bell tower and buttresses. Inside there is a late medieval rood screen. By 1954 the church was derelict but it has been restored since. The building stands in an isolated position amongst the deserted medieval village of Little Bittering. View of the Fen Causeway Roman road taken in Beeston with Bittering. The Roman road known as the Fen Causeway. (© NCC) 12. Fen Causeway - NHER 2976 Stony Lane runs along the course of the Fen Causeway, which is the name given to the Roman road that runs from a junction with Ermine Street and King Street near Peterborough across the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk fens. In a number of places the road is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, whilst in several places it survives as a landscape feature. Sections of the road have been excavated on a number of occasions, revealing a cambered metalled surface and side ditches. 13. Methodist chapel – NHER 14160 Methodist Chapel and Chapel Cottage on Bilney Road is a 17th century timber framed cottage, with an early 19th century clay lump and brick chapel. The chapel was originally built as a school, before becoming a Methodist chapel in the 1920s. 14. Site of Great Bittering mill – NHER 20064 This is the site of a Great Bittering Mill, a smock mill that was sold in 1837. The mill is recorded until the late 19th century. The east wing of the workhouse. The 18th century former workhouse in Gressenhall. This wing is now the offices of Norfolk Historic Environment Service. (© NCC) 15. Gressenhall workhouse – NHER 2819 (accessible to the public) The walk ends near Gressenhall Workhouse. The workhouse was built in 1777, one of the earliest 'Houses of Industry' in Norfolk. The main block and the east wing date from the 18th century, whilst the chapel, boundary wall and other buildings within the complex date from the 19th century. The building was in use as a workhouse until 1948, when it became an old people's home. The building is now a museum and the offices of Norfolk Landscape Archaeology. 16. Gressenhall farm – NHER 2822 (accessible to the public) This is the site of the medieval chapel and college of St Nicholas, founded in the 13th century. The chapel held the manor of Rougholme, and the chapel and the manorial buildings fell into ruins by the 18th century. The barn contains some blocks of reused medieval masonry. The present farmhouse may date back to the late 18th century, when the workhouse infirmary stood on the site. An evaluation carried out by the NAU in 1999 revealed medieval ditches and pits, probably part of a field system, as well as medieval pottery. Sarah Spooner (NLA), Spring 2006. Gamekeeper’s Lodge is a romantic fairytale luxury cottage for four in South Raynham, just a 20 minute drive to the coast. In their tender and sympathetic restoration, the owners have picked beautiful artwork and fabrics to offset the Farrow and Ball walls, which give this gorgeous English country cottage a sprinkle of magic. Situated in the village of Raynham, a mile south of East Raynham, the ancient family seat of Turnip Townsend, this beautiful Grade II listed property retains much of its original character, including wooden shutters, Norfolk pamment stone floors and stripped floor boards. Plucked straight from the pages of a story book, with its pretty wrap-around garden and gorgeous interiors, you will be planning your return before you’ve even left! The property boasts some very indulgent features and mod cons (including an Alexa), yet maintains an 18th century feel. Decorated in muted greys, lavenders and greens throughout it offers a relaxed and stylish place to stay. A long soak in one of the two roll-top baths and then a good night's sleep in one of the sumptuous beds with their 2000 sprung mattresses and 800 thread count linens, will make for a divine end to the day. Suitable for walkers, bird watchers, or lovebirds, this gorgeous retreat is sure to cast its spell over you. • A unique trip and incredible experience! Both Julie and her husband were very welcoming and helpful, and also cooked a great breakfast. The shed was above my expectations with lots of (very warm) blankets and pillows for extra comfort. We used the pool and hot tub, followed by the fire pit - which is a must for anyone staying! Overall a great trip and a wonderful end to the summer.

  • Our stay could not have been any more perfect than it was. I booked this for my partners birthday and it was really special, such a lovely little place by the river. Julie and the other staff could not have been any more helpful and welcoming, everything we needed was there and anything else we just asked. Even a surprise cake after dinner! The food in the restaurant was amazing, and the pool/hottub was a really nice touch. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

  • What a beautiful little space, has almost all you could want and if there’s something you think of just ask and the amazingly helpful and conscientious staff will be more than happy to help. Would 100% recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again.

  • Set in the most beautiful grounds, you could be anywhere in the English countryside. The shed is adorably cute and cozy but due to an issue within ourselves and no fault of the shed itself, we moved into the hotel on our second night. The hotel room was beautiful with period features and with the comfiest beds! Breakfast was delicious and they were able to cater for my vegan friend too. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My personal highlight was our evening meal...wow!! Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Would highly recommend staying here, thanks for having us!

    Emily2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the shed and breakfast was a pleasure, the views are incredible and we made good use of the amenities which included swimming pool with hot tub and sauna and a bbq area with fire pit, which was perfect for the summer evening! The staff on hand were extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating making our stay a pleasure. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for something quiet and relaxing with plenty to do in the nearby areas.

  • Nice view over the lake. Cosy place tos stay. Take dressing gowns and flip flops to wear to walk to the bathroom, swimming costume if you choose to hire time in the indoor pool and hot tub, and take a disposable BBQ and equipment to cook dinner outdoors by the lake. Breakfast next morning was very good and staff always very friendly.

    Paul2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing space! A perfect little getaway! The shed is so unique with forest surroundings and couldn't ask for better hospitality. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

My home is in a secluded area with access to a delightful river walk and the Gressenhall Museum which has many special events during the year. The Norfolk coast is within a short distance:- Walsingham (Catholic Pilgrimage Centre) is 25 minutes away with Wells and Holkham 15 minutes further on. Fakenham racecourse is ten miles away. Dereham's Mid-Norfolk Railway - offers steam and diesel trains plus the 'Polar Express'. The area is also local for Sandringham and the Thursford Christmas Show.
The bedroom is small but the bed is double size with drawers for clothes but limited hanging space. There is always tea and coffee available on request. The bathroom has a large shower, no bath.
It is a quiet village and the bungalow is in a cul-de-sac. It is a short distance to walk around the 'River Meadow' to enjoy the sights and sounds and the stars when it's dark.

The Old Stables is a refurbished 17th Century building. Containing a double bedroom, a spacious and comfortable lounge, and a cosy and fully functional kitchen you will have everything for the perfect base to explore Norfolk. The Old Stables has a large garden for use of the occupants. There is parking next to the cottage and wifi is also available although due to our rural location it can be slow and intermittent at times.
The Old Stables as the name implies are a renovated stable block from the 17th Century. There are some original features such as beams and the rings for tying up the livestock. The bedroom has a super comfy bed ( we know thats an essential when not in your own bed ) and has a wardrobe and hangers and a spacious chest of drawers. We also will supply a pop up cot for couples with a small child should it be required. The garden area is about 1/3 of an acre and is the perfect space to relax under the fruit trees. There is an abundance of wildlife and if you are fortunate early one morning you might see the deer grazing in the fields opposite the property. The Old Stables are a perfect spot to explore Norfolk as we are situated centrally. With little or no noise or air pollution you are guaranteed a great nights sleep. Also with no light pollution its a great place to watch the stars at night on the patio with a nice glass of wine.
The cottage is in rural Norfolk and the nearest shops are 3 miles away. The nearest larger village is Hingham which has a lovely pub and restaurant, The White Hart, and a chemist, paper shop and a small supermarket called Harrods of Hingham. We now have a Coop in Hingham as well which is very well stocked. Our village, Cranworth, is very small with no amenities but we do have a lovely church with its own set of stocks from the 16th Century.
  • Beautiful cottage, it was perfect for myself and my partner for a few days to relax. Really helpful hosts with information about the local area and everything you would need provided. We would love to stay again!

  • Marks cottage is a beautiful place to stay with it’s private garden and homey touches. We stayed for three nights and were sad to leave. The cottage is sparkling clean and well organised. The kitchen basics provided were gratefully received. We were travelling with our 8 month old daughter and the cottage provided a safe space for her to crawl and explore. We loved our stay and look forward to returning. Thank you Mark! Jasmine, James and Aaliyah.

  • A compact little escape, which was an excellent alternative to a hotel as a base for work for a few days. Peacocks in the garden, a comfy bed, good WiFi and mobile signal and flowers to welcome you. I'd be happy to stay there again, as a couple or alone.

    Sally2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. The wild peacock and her babies in the garden were such an unexpected but lovely surprise.

    Nisha2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely cosy, comfy place to stay. The little extras that Mark put in were all very much appreciated. Our dog, Pip, enjoyed the large garden to run around in. Its a great tucked out of the way place - perfect for a peaceful break. Thank you very much

    Louise2019-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was very helpful from start to finish! The converted stables was a beautiful place to stay during our Norfolk trip with our dog Bonnie. The place was very clean and felt cosy, with everything you need! Lots of local walks and dog friendly pubs around. A car is advisable as most places require driving. Thank you so much for our stay. We would love to stay again when we next return to Norfolk :)

  • The cottage is just lovely, warm and the view is amazing. Lesley was very prompt in her response, clear with directions which really helped and was there to receive us when we arrived. She was super helpful and friendly. Our dogs loved the massive enclosed garden. Best suited for couples with dogs.

    Nivia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage set in the countryside. Lesley welcomed us & showed us around. Cottage has been converted beautifully & lovely & warm. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, a bottle of bubbly, biscuits, tea, coffee & milk. Lesley had even bought some dog treats as she knew we were bringing our furry friend. A wonderful, restful stay, recommend!

    Hannah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to experience our first Airbnb and specifically wanted to experience a few days of peace and quiet. We could not have found a better place. On arrival the cottage was warm and inviting. Lesley walked down and kindly showed us around and explained how certain things such as the fireplace and heating worked. Everything about the cottage is perfect, it is warm and clean. It was equipped with everything needed to stay for a week or more. The bed was so comfortable and because we were in the countryside it was very dark so made sleeping more than easy. The fireplace definitely added to the cosiness. Outside there is a patio area and a very large fenced off garden which is perfect if anyone with young children or dogs. Yes dogs are more than welcome to stay to. We couldn’t fault the cottage, the host or the experience. Thank you.

    Darren2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • There are no words to describe how fantastic our visit was, Lesley was constantly in touch and very quick at responding which is always very helpful. We took our two dogs with us and she was very welcoming with them, they absolutely loved the garden! Leslie kindly left us dog treats and a bottle of bubbly as it was my mother in laws 60th. Just a tip if you are planning on taking a dog, the White Hart in Hingham was some of the best service that we’d ever had and some of the best food and they were very good with the dogs! We will all definitely be recommending this stay to family and friends!

    Georgia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding quality cottage with fabulous hospitality in a lively peaceful location. Would thoroughly recommend, and will use again when back in the area.

  • Lemon drop cottage is am amazing place to stay. My friend and I stayed here with 2 children which both loved there stay also. The fenced garden made a nice secure play for them to run around whilst we could enjoy using the bbq and watching the sun set over the near by corn fields. The kitchen had great facilities and was lovely and clean. The main bed is by far the most comfortable ive ever stayed in. Lemon drop cottage is a very relaxing place and we can't wait to return. Lesley was also a great host.

    Laura2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay in Lesley’s accommodation. Beautiful grounds and lots of information on the local history. Very clean cottage with nice touches such at tea, coffee, biscuits milk, Prosecco left for our stay. Lesley was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely week.

    Katy2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to spend a few relaxing days. This place is beautiful, we stumbled across Lemondrop when looking for somewhere to stay in the area. We didn’t expect much due to the reasonable price, but when we arrived we were blown away at how lovely it was. Quite luxurious. So much space, our dogs were welcomed, they had a huge yard to play and explore. It has a fully fitted kitchen, a lovely shower room and en-suite toilet off the main room. The beds were so comfortable. Lesley even left us a bottle of chilled Prosecco, some chocolate biscuits and some treats for the dogs! Can’t wait to come back and spend longer!

  • Lovely self-contained accommodation not far from the north Norfolk coast and with Fakenham close by. Dual aspect sitting room and bedroom with views onto garden (and very comfortable bed!). Access to garden must be wonderful for the summer months. Very peaceful stay in Dawn’s beautifully decorated annex. Many thanks!

    Fiona2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Dawn's cottage. It was so peaceful - tucked away in a tiny village in Norfolk, with all of the calm and quiet that we wanted. You can visit the Broads, Norwich or the coast, but there's as much pleasure in just staying there to unwind. The space is perfect for two - a thoughtfully decorated living room and bedroom, and a bathroom and kitchenette with a microwave oven. It had all the essentials and was spotlessly clean. Treat yourself and escape to rural Norfolk next time you have a week off - you won't regret a stay in Dawn's charming, cosy home.

    Jack2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place to stay, very clean, excellent location if attending a wedding at Goodwick Barn

    Debbie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Dawn’s lovely cottage, it’s located in a quiet little village but close to some lovely pubs and interesting villages and towns. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Shame that we didn’t get to met Dawn.

To view full details of all our properties please search for our .org website! The treehouse has a comfortable double bed with colourful blankets, pillows and hot water bottles. There’s a log-burning stove with plenty of wood and kindling to keep you nice and cosy, along with an extra electric-heater for colder nights. The walls are fully-insulated with double clad wood designed to give plenty of natural warmth. The reclaimed Georgian windows set into each side let in plenty of light and each morning you will wake to the sound of the birds milling about in the trees. Tinkers terrace gives you plenty of outdoor space to sit surrounded by trees and watch the world pass by. There’s a picnic table and a gas-powered BBQ for you to use and it makes the ideal spot for stargazing - Norfolk is famous for its spectacular dark skies. Inside the Treehouse you’ll find battery powered camping lanterns, fairy lights, beautiful reclaimed furniture and Moroccan flavoured decoration give the whole thing a warm glow to lounge around in. There’s also a cool box and a kettle that you can heat up on the wood stove. The luxury Garden Wash House is a short walk away. Here you’ll individual bathrooms with steaming hot showers, proper flushing toilets and underfloor heating. There’s even a bathtub for a relaxing soak. There’s organic hand soap, shampoo and plenty of loo roll for you to use. For cooking meals, the fully-equipped Garden Kitchen has everything you’ll need - oven, hob, utensils, cutlery and all the basics (salt, pepper, olive oil, tea & coffee). There’s even a wood-fired pizza oven for you to use. It’s a brilliant place to get to know your fellow glampers, with a large fire bowl nearby for toasting marshmallows by nightfall.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jake's place in Castle Acre. The house is lovely and there were plenty of thoughtful touches and little extras that helped to make the stay easy and pleasant. It's worth noting that the garden, although lovely, is not gated. Overall, though, this is definitely somewhere we'd recommend. Communication was excellent and check-in was really straightforward. Thanks, Jake!

Gypsy caravan set in the heart of the norfolk countryside, on the paddock adjoining a popular traditional public house (good beer guide listed). Full facilities available onsite. Breakfast by arrangement with the landlord.
  • Cold and wet weather but dry and warm and cozy. Great fun for my 12 year old boy. Pub is friendly great food. Shower all new and clean. I am over six foot and could stretch out easy in bed.

    Ron2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our nights stay. Our 7 yr old thought it was amazing and Ted our fox terrier thought it was great too. The hut is located in a secluded field by a pub. The hut was really clean, as were the loos and shower at the pub. The pub landlord was really helpful. We had a lovely evening playing games and had a tasty dinner in the pub. The breakfast was good too. We hope to return for another nights stay soon.

    Christine2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherd's hut was comfortable, and on the grounds of an excellent pub with great food and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

    James2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Winnie (the hut) was very sweet. The inside was throughout and designed very well for a small area. Exceptionally clean and very peaceful. The toilet and shower was very clean and very spacious. Good in the pub Winnie is based on was great too.

    Gemma2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Winnie and her being in a secluded paddock next door to a great pub was perfect. The pub shower and toilet facilities were great and just made staying in Winnie all the better. The bed in Winnie was very comfortable and our only concern was that we were both over 5.8" so stretching out was not possible but did not spoil our stay. Our weekend was very hot and the addition of a fan in the Hut was very welcome. Tea and coffee making facilities were great. Highly recommend visiting Castle Acre, a nearby medieval ruin and a great pub. Also in easy reach of the coast where we visited Brancaster, Blakeney and Wells and spent a lovely morning at Walsingham. Top spot.

    Emma2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A real gem of a place - Winnie is so comfortable and unique, and I loved every minute of my stay. The bathroom in the pub was clean, modern and accessible, and everyone was friendly and helpful. I can also recommend getting meals from the pub, they're well worth it. It is such a homely space and I was very sad to leave, so I will definitely be back!

    Catherine2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my hsband, grandson and dog, Winnie is clean and cosy with thoughtful touches- water, tea & coffee. Set in a great location very quiet and peaceful but next to a lovely pub with great food and amenities. Great value and would definetly stay here again!!

    Yvette2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very quirky little space but fantastic, we squeezed in with my wife 2 years old and a new born sleeping in a bassinet just enough room and very cosy and comfy, the cabin is in a wonderful little orchard behind a lovely pub, evening meal and breakfast were both very good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend a short stay here to anyone after something a bit different especially on a budget

Schlamping is the new glamping at Godwick. We have 3 Shepherd Huts tucked into a small glade behind Godwick Hall, each boasting unspoilt views. Close to nature, rustic but with modern ensuite facilities, these are cute and super cool. This is our only dog friendly hut for small and medium sized pooches, but there is an extra £10 charge for additional cleaning and you must bring your own dog basket and ensure they don't escape and worry the sheep or jump on the beds!!
Perfectly constructed our three huts come with some fabulous mod cons and have lovely design features, such as oak wooden floors, butler sinks and a narrow boat wood burners. Hot running water, a mini fridge, microwave, oak work top, loo, shower and of course a lovely double bed. As well as a comfortable night’s sleep, guests in each hut can order a Continental breakfast can be ordered as an extra to be delivered to the hut or with prior arrangement a cooked breakfast can be served at Godwick Hall. The huts, for a hygiene and health and safety reasons are not designed for cooking, so please do not expect full cooking facilities apart from a microwave.
Norfolk has a fantastic array of things to do and see, and that's why the Royals love it so much too. Amazing long sandy beaches of north Norfolk stretch from Brancaster to Wells to Stiffkey to Cley. There's the pretty market town of Fakenham is just 6 miles away and the large Georgian town of Holt 16 miles away for some shopping. There's fabulous and amazing walks and great cycling opportunities in north Norfolk, which the owner can help you with along with recommendations for local pubs and restaurants. Good eateries include the Dabbling Duck – Great Massingham, Rudham Crown, East Rudham, Wells Crown Hotel, Wells-Next-The-Sea, Letheringsett Kings Head, Holt.
  • A lovely secluded shepherds hut. Beautifully clean with some lovely extras (paid for), including delivered breakfast and bbq facilities. Definitely worth a visit!

  • A lovely spot in Norfolk near to beautiful sightseeing spots. The hut was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The star gazer package was the perfect way to spend New Year’s Eve and we’re looking forward to coming back soon!

    Emily2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely and snug Shepherds Hut. The weather was cold and miserable but we were lovely and toasty inside. Little gem to get away and properly relax.

    Gillian2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's a brilliant cosy place to escape and unwind too, it's very peaceful and lovely to wake up to the beautiful views with lots of wildlife to spot! Lovely pubs all a short drive away and beaches to explore.

    Carla2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Second time visiting these little gems in Norfolk! So quiet and tranquil, perfect if you want to “get off the grid” for a couple of days. Great location for us as we love visiting the north Norfolk coast. We had a slight issue with the shower but as soon as James was contacted he was on the case and sorted it out. A very nice visit! Only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Daisy2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! The hut is beautifully styled and it was wonderful waking up to the lovely scenery each morning including sheep! Lots to do nearby on the Norfolk coast. Hosts were very helpful with check in, tips for the area and organising extras. Communication was great too from start to finish. Would stay again!

    Simon2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for a couple of days away from it all! So peaceful, very relaxing spot to take our baby and use as a convenient spot to explore the coast, but mainly just chill out in the evening. The hut had everything you need, was spotless and was beautifully presented. I’m sure we’ll be back!

    Edward2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding Shepard’s huts with great bathroom facilities and a very good wood burner that made it exceptionally cozy. Light candles, drink red wine and enjoy this perfect spot with brilliant wildlife. Don’t forget your binoculars.......I did and regretted it.
