The Old Stable is in the mature grounds of a family home situated in the heart of Ampleforth' s historic East End. We are up on a hill with lovely views across the valley. The Old Stable has an open plan living space downstairs and spacious double bedroom upstairs. We are a 3- minute walk away from two lovely pubs, excellent Café and our well stocked local shop. Your hosts live in the main house next door so are usually around to offer any help or give advice on the local area.
The Old Stable comprises of a snug Sitting Room downstairs with freeview TV and very comfy sofa and a Dining area that comfortably seats four people. There is also a small but practical Kitchen area that contains a sink, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer and tea/coffee etc. There is a bathroom on the ground floor that contains a shower and loo. Upstairs is a spacious double bedroom with a beautiful view, there is also a day bed available in this bedroom for those guests wishing separate beds. We also offer off-road parking. The Old Stable is within easy walking distance, via a little lane, to Ampleforth Abbey. For keen walkers, from the house you can also walk, via public footpath, to Gilling East which has an excellent pub for lunch or dinner. We are located in the North York Moors National Park which means a short drive in the car will take you to Helmsley where you can join the Cleveland Way walking trail, visit Helmsley Castle and the beautiful Walled Garden. Sutton Bank is only ten minutes away for mountain biking or to watch the Gliders taking off. Idyllic Hovingham, a 10-minute drive away, holds an excellent monthly food market. We are surrounded by wonderful places to dine out here such as in the villages of Olstead and Harome, which are each a short drive away.

The room is spacious and south-facing within a comfortable home on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The house occupies a central position, two minutes walk from the local shop, a cafe and two excellent village pubs. There is also a leisure centre and playground in Ampleforth, and York is only 40 minutes away. Local attractions include Sutton Bank for biking and gliding; Castle Howard, the ruined abbeys of Reivaulx, Byland and Fountains, plus the bustling market town of Helmsley.
Our home is warm and welcoming, and the spaces generous as this is an old house built before 1745. The main hall is attractive with a french dresser and the bathroom is well thought out with natural stone tiles and is also fairly spacious. Outside is a beautiful terrace which enjoys full sun. The guest-room has been modified to include a kitchenette so guests can enjoy the benefits of a microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and work station. There is also access to smart t.v with streaming services and Netflix.
This is a beautiful part of the world, with the North York Moors National Park on your doorstep, and hundreds of walks throughout the area. York is 40 minutes away with it’s rich heritage and culture, while the atmospheric Yorkshire Dales are only 50 minutes away. Whitby is an upbeat, vibrant seaside location worth enjoying, as are other villages along the coast. We are a spring-board to both Scotland and London, both being about 1.5 - 2 hours by train.

  • We booked last minute with our two young children, super happy to find something so nice at short notice. The cottage is beautifully done, all brand new, stylish with bags of character and absolutely spotless. Lots of thoughtful touches from Anna & Reece like milk, muffins, logs and even wine! Luxurious bedding and fluffy towels provided, even TVs in both bedrooms (to the kids delight!). Stove kicked out so much heat it was glorious. Could have easily stayed a week. Really nice village with a lovely pub a 5 min walk away. Can't thank the owners enough for being so welconing, will definitely be back again if you'll have us 😀

    Victoria2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Anna & Reece’s cottage is everything you could want & more for a relaxing stay in the peaceful countryside. We arrived late in the evening unexpectedly thanks to traffic. But yet we were still greeted by a very welcoming Reece, who had popped the heating on for us ready for our arrival which was very much appreciated after a long cold drive. Inside is the most immaculately sparkling clean cottage, but still has a very cosy feel to it. We had all the amenities we could have possibly needed and more. Outside the cottage are plenty of countryside walks, Reece also recommended a nearby pub which served excellent food. You are also in driving distance of York. We couldn’t recommend The Owlets more, and we will definitely be back to stay again!

  • The Owlets has been beautifully converted with great style. Lovely and cosy and well equipped.

  • The Owlets is a gorgeous spot and such a great base for exploring the local area. We didn't want to leave!

  • Lovely and stylish accommodation with character. Anna and Reece were very welcoming. When they had an issue with their boiler it was fixed so quick that without the updates they gave us we wouldn’t have even known they’d had a problem. Exceptional! Don’t hesitate to book.

Greetings! I'm Faron, your host. Kilburn is ideally situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with local landmark the Kilburn White Horse within sight from the garden. There's the Mouseman Visitors centre only a matter of yards away which has a lovely cafe inside that's open to the general public and the pub The Forresters Arms right next door. The next village along the road in Oldstead, is home to TV chef Tommy Banks' restaurant The Black Swan. There's also plenty of fabulous routes ideal for biking, hiking and exploring with the Cleveland Way only being 2 miles away. The house comes with various amenities, fibre-optic high speed broadband, a Google Chromecast stick to stream Netflix etc to the TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, deep fat fryer, herbs, spices, pots & pans....oh yes and 10 hens. That's right, fresh eggs every day! Don't worry a full guide of what to do and not to do will be given if you've never looked after hens before. There's also a butcher's a short walk away so you'll never be without sausage, bacon and eggs. What's not to like? 🙂 We're dog friendly and the back garden is relatively secure as long as you don't have something tiny like a chihuahua that'll squeeze through my picket fence 🙂 Feel free to message me with any questions you might have. Faron
Picnic table, apple tree, plum tree, enclosure for the chickens and lovely south facing garden.
Laid back country village, country pub, country things.... Like cows....lots of cows... And mud. 🙂
  • The Chicken Cottage is a superb spot. Lovely peaceful cottage in an idyllic setting with stunning landscapes on the doorstep, and not far from great pubs, walks and transport links. Hard to beat waking up to the gentle clicking of hens, who kindly left us breakfast each day! Thoroughly recommend and will defo be back.

    Rupert2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is well equipped with everything you’ll ever need, great location to relax and enjoy the countryside, within easy reach to the rest of the Yorkshire Moors. Faron was a great communicator. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • Our family had a great stay in Kilburn. We loved feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs, that was a highlight for our 5 year old. The house is just as described in the listing, it had what we needed for a nice visit in Kilburn. We hope to stay again next time we are in Yorkshire.

    Kilburn, England, United Kingdom

Jasmine Cottage is located on a quiet lane very close to the centre of the the historic village of Kilburn in North Yorkshire, UK. It is the perfect destination and property for a relaxing country break.
The cottage is perfect for a relaxing country break, either to enjoy outdoor activities, or a few lazy days in front of an open fire. The property is over 300 years old and was converted from the village “wash-house” many years ago. The cottage has recently been modernised to a very high standard, whist maintaining much of it’s charm and character. It offers spacious, luxury (“5 star”) sleeping accommodations for two people (super king bed or two singles, please specify preference on booking), plenty of space in the main bedroom for a young child (travel crib and high chair available on request) and there is a high quality sofa-bed available in the living room for extra guests/children (extra bedding available on request) - PLEASE NOTE - the living room is not a private space because guests from the upstairs bedroom need to pass through the living room to reach the bathroom kitchen. We only want to rent the space to those groups that recognise this limitation of layout and don't have a problem with the possible disturbance of downstairs guest and/or lack of privacy . The large bedroom features the original beams. There is a clear view of the White Horse of Kilburn from one of the bedroom windows. The property features a modern, spacious very well equipped, kitchen/dining area for four people. Facilities include: full/size washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, oven/grill, 4-hob induction top, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and plenty of high quality kitchen equipment, stoneware crockery and solid oak furniture. We provide tea, coffee and many kitchen essentials. The lounge/living room is full of character and features a solid fuel/wood burner connected to a central heating and hot water system (we provide the wood/solid fuel - you keep the fire burning!). This room has all the original beams visible. The solid fuel heating system is supplemented by modern electric radiators and an immersion heater for hot water. The full bathroom has a high power electric shower providing instant hot water for the shower/full bath. The living room includes a high quality full-HD TV/Radio, FreeSat, Catch-up TV, DVD player, Bose music player and BT Infinity Broadband.
Kilburn village is very popular with walkers, cyclists and pilots wanting to try their hand at gliding at the Yorkshire Gliding Club, which is close by. The village of Kilburn features many beautiful cottages, the White Horse (large hillside figure), the Mouseman Visitor Centre, the historic church of St. Mary’s and the very popular Forresters Arms.
  • Cute country cottage in lovely village - shame the pub was closed a after a fire! Comfy bedroom and cosy sitting room with nice furnishings and homely touches. Well fitted out kitchen/diner with all appliances and loads of basics in the cupboards - all in all a great place for a getaway. Keith was a great host and made sure the log burner was lit for our arrival - really welcome on a cold wet and windy February night!

    Frances2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • For quiet, rural time away, it would be hard to beat this cottage. Communication with Keith was brilliant and the cottage had everything we needed. It did take a day or two to get our heads around how best to use the wood burner to heat the place, but once we did it was extremely warm and cosy - the detailed written instructions were great

    Lolita2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a fabulously tranquil setting. You feel relaxed within hours. Perfect place to unwind.

    Holly2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Jasmine Cottage. Very clean and well maintained cottage. Beautiful little village perfect for a weekend away. Very easy to check in yourself which was handy as we arrived relatively late on the Friday evening. Would highly recommend.

  • Keith's cottage is lovely, very homely, well equipped kitchen which meant we could cook our own meals. Excellent butchers down the road, not far from York or other lovely places. Bed was very comfy and good shower and having the woodburner was nice also. Would definitely return.

Cosy cottage located in the North York Moors National Park with gorgeous big skies! A super base for exploring castles, abbeys, villages and the Heritage coast. Spoilt for choice in eateries from great local pubs to Michelin starred restaurants all with a 10 mile radius. Many guests comment on how peaceful and calm their stay has been. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families with children and pets (one, well behaved dog only).
The cottage is located at the top of Sutton bank, halfway between Thirsk (7 miles) and Helmsley (7 miles). Due to its elevated position, the views (and sunrises) are beautiful. One mile from the National Park Visitor Centre and in touching distance to many other attractions.
  • Lovely place to stay:) the cake was a nice touch :) very welcoming and happy for our puppy to run around free :)

    Laima2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a wonderful place to spend Christmas. The bedrooms were bigger than expected, the kitchen although small is very well equipped and able to handle Christmas lunch for 4. The location is lovely. Nice views, close to many local sites and walks. Great access to the stunning suttongl Bank. There was an electrical issue which caused power outages on Christmas day, the owners stopped their own day to dins a solution to get us through cooling lunch, then aore permanent solution after we had finished eating, and then had an electrician out the day after boxing day, an unfortunately timed incident handled very well by the owners. A lot of apologies and a bottle of fizz was left to make ammends. Would happily stay again and recommend to friends.

  • We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at Lucy’s cottage. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy and had everything we needed for our short stay. Location was ideal to access all the places we wanted to explore. Lucy’s a very friendly host and gave us detailed instructions on how to find the cottage. Highly recommended!

  • This place is perfect. So clean, beautifully furnished. Ideal location for exploring. The host is lovely. Highly recommend. We will be booking again. Andrea, Lisa and doggies.

  • Lucy was a fantastic host - quick to help and give any advice we needed. The posting location were accurate and the facilities were everything we needed and very clean. We’d go back again.

  • A lovely, comfortable and relaxing cottage in a wonderful location. Lucy was really helpful before we arrived and got in touch to give us some practical information and some great tips about what to do whilst we were there.

    Finlay2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have a lovely stay at Lucy's cottage. The cottage itself has everything you need and there is so much to do and see in the surrounding area.

    Rosie2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Set in an amazing location, the cottage was so quiet and the views spectacular. Just a couple of minutes from Sutton Bank Visitor Centre and the many many lovely walks from there. The cottage was lovely and clean and very spacious. The addition of underfloor heating was a bonus and it was nice to feel warm tiles underfoot and a nice temperature throughout the cottage. Our puppy certainly loved it! Lucy was very welcoming leaving some essentials and a cake for us on our arrival. Top tips: 1) The gate opens outwards so stop your car slightly short of the gate on arrival. 2) Make sure to look up at night - it’s in the Dark Sky Discovery Area so the stars are amazing. 3) Set your alarm for sunrise and sit out the front and enjoy. Simply stunning. Will definitely stay here again when exploring the North York Moors National Park.

  • The Old Post Office in Ampleforth has two quite large bedrooms (No 2, at the rear of the house, is slightly larger than No 1, which overlooks the road). They are fully equipped with TV, coffee machines and tea-making facilities and the most comfortable beds (Orthopaedic mattresses). Each has en suite facilities, although neither has a bath. The rooms are up some quite steep stairs and so disabled access would be difficult. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and a wide range of cereals, fruit, juices and breads etc were available in the dining room, which also had a toaster, a further coffee machine and a fridge freezer for use by guests. Fresh milk and butter was provided. Guests had their own keys to their rooms and to the front door so all-day access was simple. The house was very warm, well-lit and welcoming.

This former stonemason’s workshop has been beautifully renovated into a light and airy bolthole for two and a perfect base for exploring all of the beautiful countryside and coast of North Yorkshire. Mason’s Cottage was originally owned by a family of stonemasons who worked on the local churches, houses and schools including Ampleforth Abbey. Ampleforth has existed as a village since Saxon times and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village is situated at the southern boundary of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, just north of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by beautiful countryside, offering scenic walks and cycling routes right from the front door. Just five minutes’ drive away is the pretty market town of Helmsley with its Castle, Walled Garden, Duncombe Park and a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Prospect House (sleeping eight guests) is next to Mason's Cottage and available to book through Rural Retreats. This holiday at a glance Sleeps two guests. The Gables is spacious, light and airy. The frontage has a bay window and entrance is into a large hallway with wooden flooring. The ground floor has a cosy sitting room, an elegant dining room with piano and a modern kitchen with granite counters and a breakfast table. Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms, with pretty views and a tastefully decorated bathroom. Up the spiral staircase to the second floor is the attic room. Outside there is a terrace, a long herbaceous garden and an orchard.
The hallway is airy with wooden floors and ample space to hang coats. The sitting room has a window seat under a big bay window, an elegant Italian fireplace and two sofas. This leads into the dining room with a piano and an octagonal dining table. The kitchen has granite counters, a double oven, a double sink, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a small breakfast table. Upstairs, the bathroom is decorated in earth tiles and has a bath plus jet shower. Off the landing is the master bedroom with glorious views up the garden into woodland. The single room is a south-facing study, as is the king-size bedroom which also has a kitchenette. At the end of the landing a wooden spiral staircase leads up to the attic. This is a fantastic space for children, easily fitting two beds and with velux windows. Our sitting out area is up a level and is a courtyard with balustrade and a large dining table. A wall trained fig and patio tree provide shade. Leading from the terrace is a walled garden with stone seats and a central small pool. Above this is a sweeping lawn with hammock, trampoline, ping pong table and swing. A cafe table further up the garden provides an intimate space, whilst a swing seat in the orchard benefits from westerly sun. A wood can be accessed through the vegetable garden.
The Gables is in the heart of a rural village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Within the village is a well stocked village shop, a millennium green, a playground, a cafe, two pubs and a leisure centre open to the public with swimming pool, gym and squash courts. This is a popular area for cyclists and walkers keen to explore the beautiful scenic countryside all around the village. Ten minutes drive away is the attractive mediaeval town of Helmsley with its market square, cafes, Arts Centre, walled garden, heated outdoor swimming pool, ancient castle and Duncombe Park, a country estate open to the public. Further afield is Castle Howard, with its beautiful landscaped gardens, lakes and children’s adventure playground. Sutton Bank for those who want to glide is ten minutes away and has bike routes and walks all along the escarpment. The moors are wonderful for hiking and Dalby Forest with its bike rides and Go Ape centre is popular with the adventurous. Those interested in history can explore nearby Abbeys of Byland, Rievaulx and Fountains Abbey, or visit the Viking Centre in York, which is forty minutes drive away. Whitby and Scarborough, seaside towns are equally popular and roughly forty minutes drive, as are The Dales, heading west towards the Pennines.

Ford End B&B is a cosy, self-contained Annexe in 18th century converted stables. The accommodation is very private, with its own entrance and off-road parking. The area is fantastic for walks in the beautiful North York Moors National Park or Howardian Hills AONB. Or if ruined abbeys and stately homes are your thing, we have plenty of those too. There is great food available in both village pubs and the wonderful coffee house, all within a five minute walk. A well-behaved dog is welcome!
Ford End Bed and Breakfast is in the beautiful, traditional North Yorkshire village of Ampleforth, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. We are perfectly located for stunning walks and delicious meals in one of two excellent pubs or the coffee house, all within a five minute walk. Ford End House lies on the West End of Ampleforth where the beck passes under the road. The Bed and Breakfast accommodation is set back from the eighteenth century house, in the former stables. The Annexe is completely self-contained, allowing you to come and go as you please, with your own key to your own front door! The entrance opens into a hall, leading to a double bedroom (king size bed) with TV and breakfast area, and a shower room with underfloor heating. The room is equipped with everything you need for your DIY breakfast: cereals, bread/toast, jams, teas, fresh coffee and a mini-fridge full of yoghurt, fruit juice, milk and butter. In addition, if you would like to arrange a full English cooked breakfast, this can usually (unless I am away) be brought to your room for an extra £5 per person. Please allow 24 hours notice - just to give me time to do the necessary shopping. "Charming as ever. Beautiful and quiet...a little dream for a change in busy lives! Super breakfast too! Thanks a million." Maria Ana (London)
We are in the historic village of Ampleforth, just over a mile from Ampleforth Abbey, four miles from the market town of Helmsley, twenty miles from York and an hour from Scarborough and the coast.

The city of York isn’t too far away either, easily accessible by car or one stop on the train from Thirsk for a day trip to see breathtaking architecture and a wealth of quaint shops and cafés.
  • What a lovely picturesque cottage, traditional features (open fires and the phenomenal Aga) but modern touches (good WiFi, smart speaker and fire stick in the 43" smart TV). The hosts even thoughtfully gave us a lovely sprinkling of snow (which our 4yr old found delightful). Easy clear lines of communication, never overbearing but made it clear they were available if needed. The pictures can't do it justice, the location just fabulous (even as a proud Lancastrian I think Yorkshire may actually be God's country!) and hosts who obviously are rightly very proud of their cottage. Couldn't recommend highly enough. A genuine 5* experience.

  • Amazing place to stay in an beautiful location! Great place to get away from it all and plenty to do around the property whether you are a couple or have kids! Mine loved every bit of it! Vicki was a great host and responded to any questions we had so quickly! We would definitely stay here again (maybe when there is some sun around next time!) but would highly recommend to anyone!!

  • We had an absolutely super weekend staying in Wainford cottage. Vicki and Chris are great hosts with very quick responses to any queries, giving us lots of info for walks and places to eat etc. The cottage itself is lovely, cosy and home from home. It's well equipped with everything that you need to cook a meal, chill and relax. The outside area has recently all been landscaped and provides a great area for an outside tipple - mulled wine was perfect on a winter afternoon with the sun setting Thanks so much Chris and Vicki!!

  • We spend a four days at Wainford Cottage and couldn’t fault anything! Great cottage in a lovely village in the beautiful Yorkshire Moors! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in the area. Vicki gave us some great tips on local restaurants, and The Star Inn in Harome was amazing!

A recently modernised lovely cottage with large oak floored living area and 360 log burner with sliding doors to enclosed patio with seating + enclosed garden area. The cottage is right next to North York Moors with the stunning Sutton Bank with its great cycling or walking routes only a mile away. We are 3 miles from Thirsk, home of The Yorkshire Vet. I am also only 5 miles from The Black Swan, Oldstead, the Michelin Starred restaurant.
It is calming, spacious and has fantastic access to the countryside, the sea and to two great cities in Yorkshire, Leeds and York. The 360 log burner is lovely to look at and use and the space is both cosy and spacious. I use a laundry service for the bedding which is 400 thread count white top quality hotel bedding .

  • This was such a lovely Airbnb, we didn't want to leave. Lush bath, comfy beds, peaceful location and a fantastic draw to the chimney on the open fire. Although the weather was too cold during our trip, there's a lovely little garden which would make the place a good haven all year round. We really love to cook when on holiday so we were impressed by the amazing gas hob & ovens and the huge fridge freezer. However, we would take a few extra bits of kitchenware to pad out what's there if we stayed again. The kitchen is perfectly adequate for people who prefer to eat out or order in. If you're planning on visiting sites of interest, I'd say a car is a must for this location. Short drives to a variety of places but a bit far to walk. Debbie was a lovely host and we would certainly recommend her beautiful cottage for a few nights away!

  • Carey and Tom's place is quintessentially North Yorkshire. Beautiful property, very clean, great easy breakfast set up, gorgeous village location and only £20 in a taxi to The Star Inn at Harome so a great, cheaper alternative to their accommodation. Tom and Carey had great communication with quick responses and detailed Info. Would highly recommend.

  • Lovely house, perfect for the quiet weekend we needed, house was clean and the host was on call any time to answer our questions. The local pub up the road had great food also which is reasonably priced, would recommend staying here.

  • Hambleton House is a wonderfully modern home, perfectly situated in Ampleforth village. The photos are absolutely accurate and the house impresses as a great value, relaxing weekend destination. Claire is a very helpful and friendly host. We’ll be staying again! Simon.

  • We stayed at Claire’s for 3 nights and it was just perfect!! The house is so stylish and beautiful, and has a massive wow factor as you walk in, but also really lovely personal touches that made it feel so cosy and welcoming. Claire was fantastic at answering any questions we had, and was so responsive and helpful. The bed was super comfy, and the hot tub was great after a busy day! The artwork around the house is also fab, and definitely makes this house stand out from the crowd. We loved how much personality there was in the house. The area is lovely for walks, with Ampleforth Abbey close by, and the local pubs were fantastic too! The White Horse was particularly good, with the best homemade pies ever, and we also went to The Black Swan at Oldstead, which was gorgeous for a special occasion. We would definitely return here in a heartbeat - we wanted to stay forever!

  • Had a lovely break away with my 2 boys and hubby. The house is beautiful and so is the village it’s situated in. Handy little shop and a couple of pubs. The hot tub was a big hit! Will deffo stay again!

  • What a lovely trip we have had to Claire’s beautiful house in Ambleforth. With the hot weather we really enjoyed sitting in the garden which is so stunningly landscaped and the hot tub was an extra bonus. The house was sparkling clean and Claire with quick to respond to any of my queries. The white swan pub close by also hosted a lovely afternoon of drinks and the local cafe was fab for tasty sandwiches. I will certainly be recommending to my friends and I hope I am able to go back again! Thank you so much Claire!

Stone built separate cottage with wood burning stove and amazing views. Breakfast is served in your room with locally sourced food. In the charming village of Ampleforth on the edge of the North York Moors, perfect for a romantic country break.
This annexe is very pretty with lovely views across the valley. Meals are served in your room and there will be home made biscuits, bread and all you need to make you comfortable. There is a fridge in your room along with the usual tea and coffee making stuff, and a toaster. There is a wood burning stove, sofa and plenty of space.

There are beautiful walks from our door, and wonderful ruined abbeys and castles as well as extraordinary stately homes to visit. We are also conveniently placed for visitors to Ampleforth College and Abbey.
  • Not your average host. Frances went that bit further in making us feel welcome and comfortable

  • Very comfortable stay with amazing hospitality

    Robert2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay - everything was just perfect. Such a beautiful little cottage with absolutely everything one might need - everything had been thought of and so much care taken to get it right - and it was just right. A beautiful, peaceful spot, really comfortable beds with superb quality bedding, gorgeous homemade bread, and flapjacks, proper coffee, teas etc with fresh milk and orange juice, homemade jams and marmalades and a gorgeous homemade breakfast with the most delicious fresh eggs (also home grown?) and fresh home grown produce. Great shower with toiletries thoughtfully provided too and TV, radio, DVD's and books should you need them. Had a walk to the White Horse pub about 2 mins walk away and loved it! It was raining when we arrived back, so we felt we had an excuse to light the lovely and very efficient wood-burning stove which was a real treat! Only wish we'd been able to stay longer to make use of some of the great guidebooks and particularly the walks detailed in the books provided. It is such a great location, you are really spoilt for choice. Now trying to work out when we can return and hoping it won't be too long - a perfect sojourn. Thank you so much for everything Frances.

    Philomena2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect in every way. We stayed with our dog for two nights whilst our teen played at a cricket festival at the college. Cosy apartment with everything you could need, including a very comfortable bed, a great shower and a fridge for your wine. Frances was an amazing host without being intrusive, we couldn’t have been better looked after. Breakfast, flapjacks etc all delicious. Easy walk to two pubs serving good pub grub.

    Mandy2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very cosy and comfortable little place to stay. There were no complications, instead quite the opposite as there was a delicious breakfast and even the offer of a lift to Yearsly bank in case our bikes wouldn’t make it! Highly recommend this as a place to stay for all eventualities

    Geordie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • A truly exceptional stay with truly exceptional hosts. We were treated with warmth and friendliness but also given a respectful distance to enjoy our break in this beautiful part of the country. Too many thoughtful and much appreciated extras to mention (although a lift offered when we misjudged booking a taxi went above and beyond) this is AirB&B at its absolute best!

  • My mum and sister had a great time staying here. Catherine was kind enough to give us a great spa recommendation and we enjoyed being so close to the Sutton Bank National Trust base for the walks. The hot tub worked a dream after a long day walking :) The place is very luxurious and stylish, and suited the three of us perfectly for a short get away

  • We had a wonderful bank holiday break at Farriers cottage. The cottage comes with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing get away and Catherine was a fantastic host. It’s not the cheapest place on Airbnb but you get what you pay for, these truly are luxurious cottages: immaculate, well equipped, with a hot tub, high definition 3D TV and lots of lovely personal finishing touches (like a welcome hamper with homemade bread on arrival). Highly recommended!

  • The Blacksmiths Cottage is a beautiful and cosy place to stay. The cottage itself is immaculate. Unfortunately we couldn’t meet Catherine in person due to unforeseen circumstances, however, their daughter Emily made us feel very much at home. Lots of information was left for us to go through for all the local attractions and things to do and see. Will be returning for sure at some point in the future.
