  • Christine’s place was perfect for a weekend get away! We had 9 people with plenty of room for everyone!

  • This property was the perfect getaway for our family of 7. The space was adequate for all of our needs with all of special touches to make us feel at home. Stepping out into the backyard, all of your cares melt away with the peaceful view of the water.

  • One of the best places we have been to. So serene and lovely.

    Jerson2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing vacation. So peaceful and very relaxing. Very clean spacious house on a great property. We kayaked, crabbed, fished, and enjoyed the big yard. No need to leave the property. Thanks for being a wonderful host. Best family vacation we’ve had.

    Kelly2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was a wonderful host! She was very quick to respond to my questions and super accommodating with our requests. The house was very clean and right on the water. We hung out at the dock, went swimming and kayaking, and enjoyed some lawn games in their big yard! Thanks so much, Christine!

  • A spectacular home with all of the amenities thought out In advance. Beautiful views and everything was clean and sparkly. Private and secure.

  • Christine's place was very clean and spacious. She was quick to respond to my questions. Whether you are fishing or just sipping on a cup of coffee at the private doc it's just so peaceful. I had a wonderful and restful stay here. Will definitely be visiting again!

    Inyoung2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house has plenty of space for a family. There is a bedroom on the main floor and the other three bedrooms are on the second floor. The house is on the water. The hosts have kayaks and plenty of life vests, so you can enjoy the water. The town of Reedville is 10 minutes away. I recommend taking a day trip to Tangier Island. You have just enough time to visit the isolated beach and grab a soft shell crab sandwich for the boat ride home. Arriving at the house, opposite the turn, look for an American flag in a cluster of mailboxes. You turn on a gravel road. Follow the road around the curve. You will see a driveway split, you take the first driveway.

Search the web for Reedville, Virginia or the Northern. Reedville was named for Captain Elijah W. Reed (1827-1888). In 1874, Reed, a sea captain from Maine, came south to the Chesapeake Bay and recognized the potential of the menhaden fishing industry. As early as the 1620s, in the area which became New England, the Native Americans had taught the Plymouth Colony's settlers the value of burying menhaden in each hill of corn, as fertilizer. Captain Reed moved his business from Brooklin, Maine, to the Northern Neck, and brought to the established community of watermen a method of extracting large quantities of oil from the fish, by rendering them by the millions. Their oil was used as a lubricant and in lighting, as whale oil was; and the leftover bones and carcasses were valuable as fertilizer. He opened the first processing plant. By 1885, Reedville was heavily engaged in the menhaden fishing industry. Menhaden processing factories on Cockrell Creek produced fish oil, meal, and fertilizer from menhaden. The menhaden fishing industry brought tremendous wealth to Reedville and to Northumberland County. Reedville, a town of approximately 500, was once known as the wealthiest town in the United States, due to its large income produced by the menhaden industry.[2] Fishing boat captains and factory owners, who made their fortunes from menhaden, built homes along what is now Main Street. Dozens of fish processing factories, most recently Omega Protein Corporation (successor to Zapata Haynie, Reedville Oil and Guano Company, and Haynie Products Company) and Standard Products Company, have dotted the Northumberland coastline near Reedville and other fishing communities. Omega Protein remains the largest industrial organization in the area. The company, with several hundred employees, has a fleet of large oceangoing fish-harvesting vessels supported by a number of spotter aircraft. Menhaden, once caught, are cooked in large mass and processed for further use in various applications including as a protein additive for poultry feed; Tyson Foods is a large customer. Businesses in Reedville also offer sport fishing charters and regularly-scheduled cruises to Tangier Island. Lodging in the small community is offered in bed and breakfast establishments. Several large houses on Millionaire's Row are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2008, newer homes were built in the last-remaining available lots on Millionaire's Row. The Reedville Fisherman's Museum has restored the oldest home in the community; known as the Walker House, it houses the museum in conjunction with adjacent buildings. The museum also has two vessels, the skipjack Claude W. Somers and the deck boat Elva C, which were entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The museum, which dedicates itself to preserving the watermen's heritage, has historical information about Reedville, the Chesapeake Bay, and the menhaden fishing industry. • Chris was a great host, and we had a fantastic experience at his house on the water. We brought our dog, and Chris was more than accommodating and helpful. We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience.

  • This place is so relaxing and tucked in a very quaint small town.

    Chrissy2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was super helpful for my last-minute reservation he accommodated my family in every way possible. His home is situated in the sweetest neighborhood. I am actually looking forward to staying again in May with more of my family. The location wasn’t far from the things that I needed and close to my grandparents which was ideal for my stay. Watching the sunset is a must at this property. The neighbors dog can be annoying but that’s small compared to the sense of relaxation you get most of the day. Thank you Again Mr. Mills.

  • Quiet location, friendly host, great view of the bay.

    Edward2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a privately-run B&B that offers truly personalized service. You feel like you're staying among friends. We were traveling with our dog and enjoyed the "Sisters" room, complete with its own exterior door and small patio. We enjoyed a homemade breakfast with Chris and the other guests each morning, everyone sharing stories of our respective travels. We were delighted to take recommendations from the East Coast "locals" on where we should venture next. We loved swimming in the Bay, and taking our dog in one of the kayaks Chris has. The property feels remote with how quiet and tranquil it is, but there are restaurants and markets within a ~10 minute drive.

    Greg2018-07-01T00:00:00Z

Beach/Waterfront home with spectacular, unobstructed views. Enjoy our private white sand beach and our 1.5 acre property with beautiful old trees. The layout has space for everyone and every age with it’s porches, deck, balcony and private garage apartment.
I traveled the world and yet the Northern Neck is my favorite place because of of it’s untouched and peaceful beauty and my many childhood and adult memories. EVERY season is absolutely gorgeous and our bright, clean and airy waterfront home has all of the amenities that you need for a relaxing vacation. The Northern Neck is called the road less traveled, because it’s a place to get away, experience the vast and wide waterfront of the Chesapeake Bay, see the massive sky of stars and relax with your family and friends. It’s a child's paradise as it’s a perfectly safe place to explore. Watch ships sail by and Bald Eagles soar above. Use our bikes, take walks along the beach, collect sea glass and arrow heads, use our fishing rods, kayaks and rafts, play corn hole, or volley ball, enjoy steamed crabs on our outdoor picnic table or just sit on the porch swings and watch the hummingbirds. It’s the perfect place for family meals or card games. Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. If you prefer to venture out there’s plenty to do, waterfront restaurants, an ice cream parlor, antique shops, wineries along the Chesapeake Wine Trail, trips to Tangier Island, the Fisherman’s museum, golfing and other historic landmarks. If you have small children we have a crib, bedside rail, high chair, children’s tables and chairs, life preserves and plenty of indoor and outdoor toys.
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Many of the people who have cottages on the street have been coming to this place for decades. They love it because it is quiet and the neighbors are so respectful and friendly, so please be respectful to the neighbors. We often take bike rides on our street which is perfect for children.
  • The house and the location are amazing! There is so much to do that you don’t even need to leave the house. If you get a chance to watch the sunrise do it, it’s gorgeous!

Our kids played in the sand or swam in the water all day without getting bored. The house was clean and large enough for our whole family. We definitely want to come back next year.

  • This was an amazing little find! We brought our son here for a small birthday getaway because he loves to fish. The kayak, and private dock were perfect. He fished from sun up to sun down. It was a beautiful spot to just relax for a few days. I highly recommend visiting this little gem. We hope to get back another time!

The house was super clean, contained all the things we needed, including paddle board, canoe and kayak (with life jackets for everyone!!), and was so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. The hostess was amazingly fast to respond to my questions! You won't find a cuter place at the NNK! Thanks so much!

** UPDATE 3-31-20 ** Our private beach is unaffected by the VA state beach closures due to COVID-19. You ARE allowed to travel to stay at our vacation home and use our beach. Other people have been renting our homes specifically because of the Coronavirus as a way to get away for a while.
Our house cleaners are superb professionals that have been following the CDC's cleaning procedures regarding the virus threat. Now, back to the description of the home.... Private beach, expansive views of the Chesapeake as it intersects the Potomac River. Behind the home is the remaining 4.5 heavily wooded acres. Remodeled home that has been finished out with granite countertops, tile all throughout the first floor. 4 bed/2 full bath. Large great room with huge dining room table that seats 10-12 people. This home is our true escape. You'll see as you drive to the secluded neighborhood that there are only a dozen homes on this street. It's nature at its finest. This home originally was a DC-area doctor and his wife's personal vacation home. We had been looking for a couple years for the perfect beach home on the Bay that felt more like a home and not a smelly cabin. Once we saw this pop up on Zillow we knew we had to have it! We've outfitted it to fit our needs of bringing friends and family with us and think you will enjoy what we've done as well. Also bought some new furniture, mattresses, all new linens, etc... Rooms come with clean sheets already tucked in for you, and a towel and face cloth for each guest to use. We even have toothbrush holders by the sink. The bathtub and shower have shampoo, conditioner and body wash so you don't need to bring your own. Please bring your own beach towels. We do have some beach toys for the kids, and umbrella. If the weather is nice, we have a couple kayaks you can use as well. We have lots of games in the home if weather is bad - card games, connect 4, and children playsets and toys, various books. There are 3 HDTVs with rabbit ears for the major channels. A DVD player in the living room with variety of DVDs to choose from. We do not currently have wifi in the home. We are on the waiting list to have service installed. We do have a cell-phone booster in the home so that you can more easily use cell phone as hotspot if needed.
Very quite neighborhood. Some neighbors live here fulltime some only on weekends.
  • The house is awesome. Had everything we needed. The view is amazing! So quiet and peaceful.

Quilt room has full size bed, shared bath, water views. Located on first floor of accessible home, it is wheelchair accessible.
Comfortable room sleeps 2, has assorted quilts as decor and furnishings.
Friendly neighborhood is great for walks before morning coffee.
  • Chris's house was amazing - you're right by the water with a great view and place to relax. The room we stayed in was the quilt room and it was the theme of the whole room which I though was very cool. Chris was an awesome host - very hospitable, he made us breakfast when he didn't have to, and he was great to talk to. We had access to using his kitchen when we made dinner. The purpose of our stay was to relax and enjoy being by the water so we took advantage of local restaurants and preserves, Chris's canoe, and fishing and crabbing off the dock. We couldn't ask for a better stay so we would definitely stay with Chris again.

    Lina2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' house is very comfortable with a beautiful view of the bay. He was most helpful in suggesting places to eat as well as sights to see and visit which due to weather our original plans were canceled so we needed much information. He is very familiar with the whole area. He is an excellent cook and our breakfasts were great. We are hopeful to return soon.

This cozy cottage is perfect for couples or the whole family . This space is the perfect beach get away with a full bathroom, kitchenette and an outdoor gas grill with eating space. Tucked away with woods on one side and the beautiful Chesapeake bay on the other side. Lay with windows open at night to hear the waves crashing and walk down to the private sandy beach that is perfect for swimming , playing , fishing or just relaxing
Guests will love the seclusion of this cottage . It is situated on a 1 acre lot a short distance from the main house. It is private and tucked away, but amenities such as public boat launches , stores , restaurants , and the fisherman's museum are just a short drive away.
We have the best of both worlds here. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle with wooded areas and the bay. At times you can stay out here for days and not see a soul or you can go into town and visit the locals. Everyone is friendly and welcomes you with a smile. The sunrises are spectacular and the seafood cant get any fresher .
  • Great stay !! The house is spotless. Our family had fun at the beach.

  • Lovely quiet location. Beach and trails, peaceful spot, dogs welcome. Ola was present anytime we needed anything, but otherwise let us have the quiet break we needed. If you need to work online while on vacation, you may need to go to the porch of the main house for wifi. I personally enjoyed being offline for a bit!

  • This is an amazing place!!! The host were so welcoming and more than accommodating plus super friendly!! The views and private beach is wonderful! The only draw back for me was the huge birds that I had to worry about my little Yorkie being scooped up by but the host warned me immediately about the danger so all was good just had to keep an extra close eye on him!! My children had a great time and my parents made much needed memories with our family!! Thank you Olga and Chris for being the best host thus far on my Airbnb adventures!!!

    Dana2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at OC's Peace of the Bay was quaint, cozy and overall well accommodating to our party (including our retriever). The bungalow itself was a clean and comfortable sleep, and the couches were great for lounging and playing board games. The first morning in our stay our golden retriever had a bad stomach from drinking bay water and Ola gave us a container of rice to cook up for her and it was a lifesaver as our retriever quickly recovered. Crabbing in the bay was thoroughly enjoyable as well, and we went kayaking in the inflatable kayaks every minute we weren’t waiting out stormy weather or sleeping; we had multiple catches which we took home with us. In addition to crabbing and fishing from the kayaks there was fishing to be had from the shore. It’s amazing to sit by the fire pit and stargaze with the constant wind coming off the bay. A beautiful location and such a quaint bungalow. Ola and Cody were wonderful hosts.

  • Perfect for family reunions like ours. We chose it for location near Reedville fishing harbor, museum and historic homes. Kids loved the big downstairs game room, big TVs, big back yard and pier for fishing and crabbing using the provided equipment. Smores around the fire pit was the favorite time of all! We went to nearby Reedville for seafood dinners and a beautiful sunrise/fishing trip with Heritage Charters captain/owner, Dave Fisher. In a half day, we caught at least 6 or 8 fish apiece and brought home enough for a big fish fry for our large family! Everyone wants to go back next year!

    Suzanne2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful view of the river and great amenities! Our group of 8 had a sensational time indoors and out at River’s Edge! We will happily come again!

  • This home is exactly as advertised. Beautiful, clean, lots of outdoor activities and tools provided. In the garage you will find kayaks, a paddle boat, bikes, and coolers. There is a pier to fish on, it is in an inlet of a creek that flows into the Little Wicomoco. I got some bites but the fish were too smart for me. I did, however, catch a crab and a huge stingray! This was a fun visit!

Fishing, Boating and Kayaking at it's best. Daytrips, Waterfront Dining and fun in the sun for boaters. A birdwatchers paradise. This is a small marina in a very quiet and rural setting. Glorious Sunrises, Restful Sunsets and a Million Stars.
The closest marina to the Chesapeake Bay on the Northern Neck. Right on the Inter Coastal Waterway, we are also right on top of some of the best fishing in the region. Tangier Island is 14 miles straight out and makes a great daytrip. Several nearby restaurants with dockage are great for Waterfront Dining. The Chesapeake Bay, Dameron Marsh and Mill Creek are just outside our jetty. For kayak fishing, it's the best around. Mill Creek is largely undeveloped and has an abundance of waterfowl and Eagle's Nests. Great for Birdwatching.
Quiet rural community and very safe. You can walk around the neighboring community and see the water at every turn. A great (and safe) place for Biking as well.
  • Great little secret getaway. Beyond nice host who answered all questions in a warm way. Didn’t stay long but the place looks like a gem and will be back soon enough! Lots of space fire pit and easy access to the pier.

  • Camping site was great! Relaxing and well maintained area. Facilities are clean, and the wireless connection was really helpful. Was able to catch some crabs and fish as well. When not windy/breezy, can be a bit buggy but Mary allowed us to borrow one of the mosquito plants! Would recommend bringing bug body or perimeter spray. Overall, great time had by my wife and I.

    Zeewei2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is AWESOME! Tucked away from all the hustle and noise, it’s literally a paradise! Great fishing and crabbing, beautiful scenery and sunsets, prime location! Mary was a wealth of knowledge about the area and gave us all the tips we needed to have a perfect long weekend! Can’t say enough good things.

    Jordan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • For my first ever camping trip, this place was great! Mary and her husband were very kind and generous. They gave us all the tips we needed to catch a fish dinner and showed us the rest of their rental properties. A very enjoyable area right off the Marina. Hoping to come back next time in peak fishing season so we can book a charter boat.

    Qiara2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to camp. Access to the bay is easy. Hosts were very welcoming and did everything need for us to enjoy our stay! Great Fishing!

    David2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and Billy are extremely welcoming and make you feel like a friend even if you've never met them before. Extremely laid back atmosphere, a great marina, and all the amenities you need. I'll be a regular here.

    Bryan2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our last minute getaway was perfect! When I contacted Mary about tent camping, she reached out and offered a boat ride to help us celebrate our anniversary! We camped right on the water, between a very nice fire pit and gazebo (which had electricity). The wash house was nice and clean, and there was a complimentary canoe for use. We will likely stay again!

    Kelly2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed this space! Mary has lots of room, and fun amenities to be enjoyed. We set up the tent down by the water, it was great to wake up to. We took the canoe out and upon their suggestion paddled to preserved marsh, which was amazing to observe nature on. We were able to easily access the gazebo, and fire pit, along with picnic tables. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This place would paradise for anyone who fishes!

Welcome to the waterfront cabin at Horn Harbor on secluded cove off the Great Wicomico river. It's rustic elegance makes it ideal for a quiet romantic getaway or for a family gathering. A waterfront location with a deep water pier for water activities. Sail in and dock your boat! There are three cozy bedrooms with one on the main floor and two upstairs. There is also a queen sofabed available. Enjoy outdoor dining on the deck or dine in both with beautiful water views.
Located in a secluded cove of the Great Wicomico River. Within walking distance to Horn Harbor Marina and Restaurant.
  • A great time was had by all! Being on the water, grill available and the place was perfect for my 79 year old dad, husband and three sons! We would definitely want to go back.

    Cynthia2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s place is located in the perfect setting overlooking the river. A charming home, fully equipped and very roomy. We especially loved using the dock to launch our canoe and small sailboat. The perfect getaway for our family. Highly recommend!

    Ann2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very peaceful we had a great family getaway. If your looking for a place to relax and drop off the grid this is the place for you. Don’t expect high speed Internet or distractions because this place was made for quiet relaxation. The water is brackish we saw baby jelly fish and stingrays our skate fish. We took the canoe out for a spin and it was quaint. I suggest you plan on cooking or eating at home unless you want fast food. The one restaurant that we went to breakfast at was not good. We played games and relaxes the whole trip.

    Earl2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is an incredible host and makes the stay super easy! The cabin is beautiful and the sights are worth way more than price to stay. The cabin is super clean and everything you need is on-site. If you need anything, Kilmarnock is minutes away. We are usually beach goers but this year I decided something different would be fun. We really enjoyed the R&R we received in Burgess, VA. It was a slow pace vacation and it’s exactly what we were looking for. I have children so you tend to worry they will get board but the boat dock kept them busy as well as the games and of course, the occasional treat of ice cream. We really enjoyed the restaurants and speaking with the locals. They told us about Hughlett beach which we went to. The sand was pearl white and the water was amazing. There were only 5 or so families there so we were able to have space and enjoy ourselves. BTW, Tangier Island rocks! Wi-fi is iffy but it’s a vacation, who cares! Great family spot!

    Brent2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place was wonderful—beautiful, peaceful, full of charming antiques, and way bigger than we realized. My kids had tons of fun crabbing off the dock.

    Kelda2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of women had a fantastic weekend at Lisa's! The space is perfect for groups. We loved hanging out on the porches and on the dock, cooking meals in the kitchen, and exploring the sites in the Northern Neck. We would definitely stay here again!

    Emily2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet cabin on an equally gorgeous and calm river. Tons of indoor and outdoor space(like the dock or back porch areas) make for great summertime gatherings intended for relaxation. Great for families as well as friends. Very well equipped with essentials and close to a food lion and ABC store(liquor store in VA). Do be careful about the river in mid/late June as there seemed to be a large population of jellyfish that I became well acquainted with — though to be fair I was definitely warned ahead of time!

    Will2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and the privacy feeling we experienced. There were plenty of places to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. The entire home was well furnished - especially the kitchen. Recommend picking up wine on the way there, otherwise you’ll be forced to make your selection from the local Food Lion. Overall, it was an amazing weekend with the family!

Downtown Reedville is small town Americana with streets and houses right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. You will be surrounded by hundreds of square miles of navigable water ways as well as the majestic Chesapeake Bay that provides fantastic boating, sailing, jet skiing and water skiing. The fishing is fantastic all year round whether you want to charter a boat and crew to fish the bay for Rockfish and Blues, or you just want to fish the many rivers, creeks and coves...or just off our dock for that matter. As well as fishing off the dock, there is nothing like baiting our crab traps, dropping and tying the traps off the end of our dock in the morning and pulling them in around 5pm and steaming the blue crabs up for a rustic crab feast at the picnic table with a favorite beverage.
  • A great location with beautiful views, privacy and wonderful livable space. Robert went out of his way to ensure check in was painless and while we did not need him, I felt very comfortable that he would be available if I needed him. Thanks for a memorable visit

    Heidi2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house was amazing! I rented it for my wedding weekend in Reedville and my bridesmaids and I all got ready there. So much space! The porch is huge and even has a side screened in porch off the master. Very comfortable beds too! Beautiful view to wake up to in the loft and the amount of natural light that comes in is amazing. This house will definitely stay on our favorite list when we visit in the future and need more space than what we can get at the families houses nearby.

    Mary2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time getting out of the city at Robert's place. The location is beautiful. We really loved the kayaks, crabbing, and overall tranquility of the property. Plus the star gazing at the end of the dock is second to none! I would recommend this place to families trying to get away from it all for a few days.

    Sarah2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very quick to respond. Directions to the house were great. It was a great vacation, away from everything. Just what we needed.

    Mariam2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic home and a fantastic host. Everything we needed was provided. The house was clean and updated with a large lot abd pier. My family and I were able to get away and enjoy a well needed peaceful few days on the water in comfort and class. I would highly recommend this home and host. Thank you for letting us stay. We will be back!

    Eric2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful. Airy and comfortable, well-equipped and beautifully decorated, with a lovely view on the water. A perfect greataway. One tip - bring all your groceries with you. There isn't a place to buy good food anywhere nearby, except one seafood store that is fairly expensive.

    Julian2018-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to explore the “Rivah” and enjoy some peace and quite.

    Kevin2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a secluded getaway, with a view! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc. Robert and Shelley were wonderful hosts who provided great detail every step of the way!

  • Shannon was so sweet! Bubbly personality & great energy. She basically tweaked the experience & personalized it just for my family’s interests and they loved it! Took some awesome pics of us along the way & even gave some quick skating lessons! our itinerary was perfect!! If you’re heading to Brooklyn, don’t miss booking Shannon!

    JyNelle2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon was sweet, personable, and knowledgeable about NYC. We had so much fun with her that we felt like friends instead of her being an experience host. Would definitely recommend this experience and Shannon!

    Rachel2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon was awesome! She's super friendly and really made us feel welcome. She showed us places (and food) I never would have heard of or thought of going. I can't wait to see the pictures she took throughout our adventure!

    Savanna2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon was a great host. Super personable and nice. She took tons of pictures for us and made sure to add extra fun stops along the way. I felt like we were able to see parts of Brooklyn we wouldn't have coordinated on our own. Would definitly recommend

  • “Love to Fish” was the perfect place to decompress and revisit childhood! Spectacular views and excellent wildlife watching “perch”! I even found an arrowhead!

    Lucy2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfect for our family. Loved the private beach and pier. We didn’t have much luck fishing but had a lot of fun trying. Caught plenty of crabs and enjoyed kayaking every night with the kayaks provided. House was comfortable and lots of attention to detail for the comfort of renters. We were able to see stingrays and dolphins from the private pier. Awesome week.

    Samantha2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Location location location! We love the expansive grassy yard extending to the beach. Nice private beach. Great pier. Our grandsons loved tooling around in the kayaks. Easy access to groceries, etc.

    Bill2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time this week. The fishing was top notch as we caught over 60 fish including 5 different species. We even caught 4 keeper flounder over 18" and 1 sea trout that was 17". The kids really enjoyed the kayaks and the beach. The only issues were the jellyfish and the bugs, but given the time of year we cannot really complain. The view was great and there were dolphins swimming out front of the dock everyday. The only thing missing here to be the perfect vacation spot is a pool due to the jellyfish, but thats easy for me to say:)! Thank you for sharing your home with my family and I. We had a blast!!

Riverfront home on the Great Wicomico in Virginia's historic Northern Neck region! Enjoy a private dock and a spacious front yard for games. Small, quiet community with a grocery store 10 minutes away, and restaurants, wineries, and breweries within 25-30 minutes. Home comes with two kayaks, two paddle boards, floats and fishing and crabbing gear for guest use. Relax on the water by day and marvel at a sky full of stars at night. A great escape from the city, only 2.5 hours from D.C.
The first floor is open concept with a large great room with dinning and kitchen. Large sliding glass doors provide a wonderful river view and access to a deck with Adirondack chairs, dinning table, grill and hammock. There is also a TV and DVD player for entertainment and a fireplace for cool nights. On the first floor, there is a full hall bath, a bedroom with two single beds, a master bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite bath. The second floor includes another full bath, a bedroom with two double beds and a loft area with couch, beanbag and foosball table. There is also a small book collection, board games and some DVDs. There is Wi-Fi internet, but no cable or over the air TV. Guests can use the Roku connected to the TV, which includes Netflix, Prime TV, HBO, and a few other TV apps. This is a rural location, in nature. Yes, your phone will most likely still work, but there are mosquitos, ticks and other bugs. They won't ruin your fun, but there is bug spray at the house if you decide you need it. We're sharing our home with you so please be respectful.
The home is located in a quiet community off the Great Wicomico River with a neighborhood boat launch. You are welcome to launch your boat or jetski, however you are not allowed to keep either docked at the neighborhood dock over night. Our dock does allow for a boat to be be docked but the river depth supports only shallow hulled boats (ex: Whaler and pontoon boats and jets skis). There is very little car traffic and on clear nights you'll have an amazing view of the stars--something you'll never see in the city. There is a grocery store 10 minutes away and several restaurants within 20-30 minutes in Kilmarnock, Callao, or Montross. There is also a brewery in Kilmarnock and one in Montross. For wine lovers, there are several wineries in the area. Potomac River beaches are about 40 minutes away. For those interested in venturing farther, Colonial Williamsburg is under 90 minutes away.

Set in a quaint neighborhood the private waterfront property that has waterfront homes, all adjacent to farmland, perfect for a morning walk or a jog. The Rivah, as us "Locals" call it, has many quaint towns to explore. There's Reedville, with many waterfront historic Victorian homes, waterfront dining and a great little ice cream shop! Other nearby towns include: Burgess, Kilmarnock, White Stone, Irvington & Lancaster Courthouse that has the Mary Ball Museum. Year-round, we have many festivals and events, that you can find by checking the local Northern Neck Directory found at many shopping locations. In all of our small towns, you will find the best offerings of local seafood, restaurants, antiquing, bargain shops and lots of history. One of the best "secrets" is Hughlett Point, which is a beautiful natural beach with walking trails and endless views of the Chesapeake Bay. This can be found by Googling "Hughlett Point Trail Kilmarnock VA". Also popular, is the day trip to Tangier Island by a large boat. This can also be found by googling "Reedville VA Tangier Island Cruise". There is many local charter fishing companies, one recommendation is, Bay Quest Charters, located in Lottsburg.
  • Great place to stay and finishing. Fantastic view and very safe dock.

    Yeasun2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place - the location is breathtaking. There are thoughtful touches everywhere in the house. The kitchen is the best stocked I have ever seen with quality pans, utensils, condiments - as well as a bottle of wine/soda/beer waiting. Lisa was great in responding to questions and being helpful. We will definitely be back! Thank YOU!

    Maggie2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The name of this home totally reflects our experience here “Spectacular”! We enjoyed every minute here . . . Crabbing from the dock (yummy dinner!), kayaking, sunset views and heat lightning shows across the Expansive Potomac River. The home was set up in such a way with wonderful vantage points to nestle in and read or just relax while enjoying the views. Lisa was a great host! Couldn’t have asked for more. She responded immediately to our needs and even brought out an extra kayak when I told her we loved kayaking! We had everything we needed. Thank you Lisa! enjoyed the peaceful views and the sound of the surf against the rocks. TOTAL RELAXATION!

    Beth2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a private place with water views all around...this is it! Private dock with fishing rods and crabbing baskets available. Quiet neighborhood. We spent our our evenings alone on the dock and our days crabbing and grilling out and relaxing in the screened-in porch. We never left. We cooked our fresh caught crab in the kitchen. We purchased oysters locally from Rappahannock oyster company, scallops and shrimp from miss Mary seafood market, and salads and crab cakes from crab King seafood market on the way in. Never had to interact with anyone else on the trip. Very nice to arrive to a chilled bottle of wine and a few beers. Heavenly.

    Stevi2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay here was even better than the first! The new dock with built in hammock was a big hit with our teenaged children. You feel like you’re entering a private estate when you step through the gate. Perfect place to relax and enjoy your family and friends.

    Janet2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s place was amazing even more beautiful than the pictures. Everything was tastefully decorated and the Gardens full of Hydrangeas were gorgeous. There were so many areas in an around the house to enjoy the awesome sunsets. We loved our time here and plan to come again but stay longer. Thank you Lisa for being such a great host for our sons wedding weekend.

    Lulu2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s home was lovely and check in was easy! Everything was clean and tidy. There were plenty of kitchen amenities to use which was great because we cooked while we were there rather than going out. The views from her home were beautiful. There were so many places to lounge and relax for our mini vacation. It was a great experience and we would love to stay again some time!

Amazing chance to stay in world class waterfront home! Spacious and light w/ comfy beds & chef's kitchen. Deeply peaceful & private w/ gentle breezes & small sandy beach. Water view from every room. Featured on VA garden week tour! Lots of extra amenities: Full Sauna, yoga space, kayaks, high-end linens. On Great Wicomico river ( just off Chesapeake Bay). Nice cove to drop anchor. Deep water dock w/lifts. TERRIFIC fishing, crabbing, sailing & kayaking. Dolphins & bald eagles!
We want everything to be perfect for you! This was a private residence until recently, so it has every possible amenity. This is a home designed for peace and relaxation. We have hosted yoga retreats, family reunions, meditations retreats, and weddings. For example, the master bathroom has a large tub and separate shower and sauna. There is a spa room for yoga and massage. Plan ahead and schedule massage with our fabulous local masseuse. Don't feel like cooking? Want to learn to cook? No problem. With pre-planning, the owner of nearby bed & breakfast can cater all (or some) of your meals and can also offer cooking lessons on site! Delicious cooking at a reasonable price. I know, she catered our wedding! We have two kayaks to share. You can bring your own sailboat (good mooring location just in front of house). You must plan ahead with me for use of the deep water dock, so that we can be sure we have the proper equipment to keep your craft safe.
Reedville, Virginia is an incredibly charming place. It hosts several nice seafood restaurants, an ice cream parlor, the fisherman's museum and "Millionaire Row" which displays gorgeous Victorian-era architecture. Reedville offers chartered fishing boats, a tour on the "disco boat", and trips to nearby & fascinating Tangier Island.
  • We had a great time at Lucy's place. The pictures don't do justice. The inside of the hope is very modern. The guys enjoyed the awesome dock while the ladies didn't want to leave the spacious and inviting home. What a gem! Lucy was not only quick to respond but always added something positive to the message. I give it ten stars.

  • Wonderful house, very unique house. View is amazing. Lucy and her daughter were very friendly, it was like visiting am old friend. Pier is perfect for fishing and crabbing. We caught 2 dozen crabs the same day we arrived. Highly recommended. Definitely a memorable experience.

  • What a wonderful, relaxing home! From the luxurious kitchen to the porches, the kayaks to the dock and a wagging welcome from a friendly labrador co-host, this home was the perfect backdrop for a college reunion weekend. Lucy is such a responsive and thoughtful hostess. The scenery is breathtaking and the home is outfitted with everything you could possibly need to enjoy yourself. All of our guests commented that we could have spent at least a week there!

  • This was an AMAZING experience! This was a weekend for a family reunion which we hadn’t had for 5 years. Lucy was a phenomenal host and the house is GORGEOUS. We can’t wait to return for another fun filled family weekend

  • Lucy’s house was stunningly beautiful, open and perfectly clean. We came with a big group and the space had a great kitchen, gorgeous screen porch, and so many lovely places to sit together. Lucy was very generous in letting us use the pool and kayak on the river. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

Both are about seven miles away from the Rivah Home.

  • What a fabulous house in a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Larry and Mary are delightful hosts with lots of lovely little touches, wine, fresh flowers, drinks etc. The house is so comfortable and perfect for a group of friends. We loved having coffee and watching the changing light on the creek. All was perfect. Thank you so much 😊

  • Super clean, fully appointed and lots of thoughtful touches for guests. Great place!

    Emily2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! The pictures barely do the place justice. Larry and Mary were incredible hosts and the house offered everything our group needed. The views of the water were perfect and the house was extremely comfortable, the couches and the beds. The river access was great, the boats at the house were perfect for us to use, all of the grills were very nice, and the kitchen was lovely. I couldn't say more positive things about our experience at the Rivah house.

  • Selfishly, I don’t want to leave too glowing a review, because this home is such a treasure I fear it will be booked on a future trip. But seriously, Larry and Mary’s home was hands down one of my best Airbnb stays, if not the best. The home is new and sparkling clean. As in, “has anyone else ever stayed here?” clean. The location on a small peninsula is lovely. Larry and Mary met us for a short tour and we were impressed with the thoughtful touches in the home. Highly recommend.

    Bryan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay was just perfect...Larry met us at the door and gave us the tour...kitchen had everything...beds were so comfortable...House was spotless clean...thanks so much

  • This was everything we could've dreamt of and just a bit more for a weekend getaway from the DMV. The house sits right on the edge of the river, which gives you breathtaking views of sunrise and sunsets. The house itself is also just as breathtaking! Gorgeous finishings, great beds, and furniture. They have absolutely everything you need to cook, grill, do s'mores, eat crabs, etc. Plenty of space for everyone! We took the kayaks and paddle boards out that they had and it was so fun! At night, we lit up the firepit and just sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. Larry and Mary were wonderful hosts. From the time we made the booking, through the trip, they were quick to respond and very easy to communicate with. They seem like lovely people! If you're looking for a relaxing getaway by the water, don't hesitate...this is the place to go.

  • We loved it. Went down with a group of adults to get away during the winter months from the city and be near the water. We found a perfect setting and comfort awaiting us. The home is incredibly well maintained, clean and welcoming. The hosts is kind and full of helpful communication. Couldn’t have asked for more. During winter months, many places are closed in that area. So, we were grateful for the spacious and well equipped kitchen, along with the stock of firewood. Highly recommend it as a getaway in the chilly months. And I am sure summer is magical.

  • Book this place ASAP! Tom’s place is an absolute gem and was home to my five close friends, my husband, our two dogs, and me for three nights. We had an amazing time waking up at the crack of dawn to watch the breathtaking sunrise over the bay; walking on the private beach and playing with our lab in the water; cooking in the well-equipped kitchen; grilling outside; playing ping pong and hanging out in the sunny game room; and sitting around the fire-pit at night with a glass of wine, singing, and talking and reconnecting after years...it was everything we had hoped for and more. Tom was very good at communicating and when we had trouble with the coffee maker my husband was able to immediately reach his wife for help. All in all you will not regret booking this place. Thank you Tom for sharing your place with us!

  • A great house! A perfect fit for families.

    Emily2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This location is absolutely amazing. The beachfront was ideal for our 3 generations of 9 people and even our 15-month-old granddaughter was able to play in the Bay. We loved the expansive backyard and played on the kayaks and paddle boards in the water. We began a Family Ping Pong Tourney that will now be a tradition. We could not have enjoyed our vacation more and hope to return whenever we can.

Quiet neighborhood of nicer homes, nearly surrounded by water. Great views of the Chesapeake Bay. Nearby fields have the crops of the season on display.
  • You can’t find a more beautiful spot to gaze out at the water, listen to the gentle slap of waves against the shore, and see a sky full of stars at night. We especially enjoyed an evening sitting by the fire pit, watching the moon rise after a really great meal at The Crazy Crab restaurant. Chris’s home is comfortable, spacious, restful and bucolic!

    Laura2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This house is right on the water so you have beautiful views from a small patio built on a nice vantage point. The sound of the water lapping against the shore or the wind blowing through the pines provides a nice backdrop for a place to get away. The owner, Chris, is attentive to detail and is very thoughtful regarding the private accommodations that are on the second floor of the house. I would recommend this place to stay!

  • Chris was very friendly. He was helpful with information, social if you want to interact with him, and allows privacy if you prefer. There was a mix up with the reservation, and he was very accommodating to quickly fix it. House is cozy. Breakfast was good. The location is scenic and beautiful, right on the water. I would stay there again.

  • Chris is an attentive communicator. As soon as we booked, he emailed me to give me all the contacts. He told us to come any time during the day. The neigborhood is adorable. There are very well maintained homes along the waterfront with large yards. Chris has created beautiful landscaping with sweet flower beds as well.

  • Chris made us feel comfortable in his house. The place was charming with decor very boating and waterside oriented. The room was large and comfortable and clean, plus cool in the hot weather with a nicely appointed private bath. There were water views from the windows. The lovely patio out back above the water gave excellent views of both the bay and the rising moon. Parking was ample and right in front of the house among the trees. Breakfast was served about 8:30 and consisted of an egg and potato casserole plus hand made sausage and fruit compote with yogurt one morning and bacon, corn pudding, and a baked blueberry cake with fruit available the next morning. He served us a frozen fruit dessert of cantaloupe flavor and sweet - an interesting experience. Orange juice and coffee were available as well. Chris would sometimes join us on the patio overlooking the bay and we would have interesting conversations. He supplied a lot of background and historical information about the area and told us about local restaurants in Reedville and other towns nearby. All in all both my wife and I agreed this was a pleasant and comfortable experience and was worth the cost which was in line with the level of accommodations.
