  • Katherine's house is absolutely stunning, exactly as we hoped for! Beautiful property, sparkling clean interior, it was exactly the escape we needed.

  • Great place and really helpful host; would definitely recommend !

  • Beautiful and stylish space with plenty of natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows. We especially enjoyed snuggling up next to the fireplace after a hike at nearby Monument Mountain. Highly recommended for a restful time away from the usual urban hustle. Thank you, Katherine!

  • Everything was amazing. The house, the land, the fireplace! Everything as advertised. Truly a relaxing getaway.

    Kevin2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are reading reviews because you are decided...STOP and book it. Katherine's place is a relaxing secluded sanctuary. Just what the doctor ordered to get away from it all.

  • Fantastic weekend in this lovely house. We will come back for sure! Everything was perfect.

  • My husband and I needed to get away for a few days and Katherine’s place was the perfect winter getaway! It was so quiet and peaceful. Very clean. One of the best and most unique places we’ve stayed at! Hoping to visit again sometime.. maybe in a different season. I would definitely recommend this place.

Comfortable, modern rustic cabin in the woods - sandy private lake beach down the road. Canoe available at lake. Private yard w/ fire pit and hot tub. Wifi, smart TV's, comfortable beds, kitchen stocked w/ utensils, amenities, coffee, tea, spices & condiments. Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival is just down the road, and Lenox / Tanglewood is a very scenic short drive away.
The cabin is an 800 sq ft. house on 1 acre of land in a quiet, woodsy lake community with its own little shop / cafe. There are two bedrooms and a pull out sofa in the living room. On the outdoor deck there is a propane griddle (great for cooking just about anything!) and a 4 person hot tub. The space is very private and woodsy. Guests have use of a canoe docked at the main lake. There is also a sandy beach / swimming area. The house has everything you need but is simple and designed for forgetting your cares / the rest of the world. Area is full of wildlife including an abundance of colorful moths in the warm seasons which sometimes catches people off guard. With these things in mind, expect something between "glamping" and a quaint Inn.
Community is free of streetlights, and is mainly dirt roads. Snow: road clearing is quick and thorough, but please use caution during snow or muddy conditions (usually early spring) Some roads can be steep, as this is very hilly territory, but we have provided maps to show you how to get anywhere in the community via the easiest and flattest routes (You do NOT need W4D). I send different routes depending on the season, prior to your stay. We have also provided detailed routes to the lakes, where the canoe is docked, and so on (in house guide book).
  • The place is lovely, the rooms are nice, the house is well equipped for short and long stays. It is secluded if you wish to have your privacy. Alison is a real super host and will take good care of you with excellent communication. Highly recommend!

    Ilan2020-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for piece and quiet with a relaxing atmosphere this is the place. Has everything you need plus the bonus of the private hot tub made it the perfect weekend getaway spot.

    Karen2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome, such a great place to get away and relax. The house is wonderful, the hot tub was great and also the griddle to cook on was good. I highly recommend staying here, so peaceful and quite.

  • Beautiful space to get away from the world for a nice quiet weekend. Will definitely be coming back in the summer!

    Zakary2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely love the cottage and hope we can come back in summertime when we could enjoy the lake, as well. We loved the extreme privacy, especially of the hot tub (omg, the hot tub, just right out the sliding glass back door onto a private deck surrounded by woods, no houses anywhere nearby, so amazing). We also loved the art and rugs and the overall loveliness of the place; everything is done in sweet shades of blue and teal. We had a great hike to the Sherwood Shoppe, which served us a delicious breakfast. We loved being in the cottage so much we canceled our dinner plans and just stayed in.

    Lanette2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended, Alison’s home is the perfect nature getaway. The thoughtful, stylish touches really invoked deep relaxation and rest for us. It was our anniversary, so the hot tub beneath the night sky and dawn light left us in awe. We cooked delicious meals, enjoyed great films on Roku and reconnected while exploring the natural surroundings such as the lake, Jacob’s Ladder, and walks in the woods on the property. We hope to return again someday.

This is what happens when a realtor and an expressive-therapist make a vacation home. You get a decent property, in a good location with little things to do to help you de-stress, have fun and connect with friends and family. Eighteen minutes from downtown Lee, in the private Sherwood Forest Community with lake access, and laundry, this 1500 sq. ft home built in 1987 rejuvenates. Our hope is that you will leave here a little more relaxed, recharged or maybe even a little bit happier.
Set on a 3/4 acre lot in the peaceful and serene forest this home has hardwood floors, granite counters, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and washer/dryer. The open concept living room, kitchen/dining area is a bit tight but can definitely accommodate 6. The beds and linens are comfortable and good quality. We hope and expect you to have a good night's sleep and be well fed. Kitchen has all the basic tools you need to cook a meal.
The Real Estate: Therapy house is located in the Sherwood Forest Lake District, on Big Robin Lake, the largest of five. Guests have access to the boat beach, Will Scarlet Beach and North Beach. The Sherwood Shoppe across the lake is a cute, down-home, country style restaurant and store that has all sorts of goodies and supplies you might need. There are lots of little hills in The Forest that make for good walking or jogging.
  • The house is beautiful! It felt like the perfect escape for us. Lovely & quiet area and the house was more beautiful than the pictures can show! Thank you!

  • Loved this Airbnb. All of the small touches were great; the essential oil diffusers, lights that change color, adjustable beds. It was also extremely clean! The location was also very peaceful and beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

  • Very clean and cozy house where you can feel at home, luxury level is equivalent to a 4-star hotel.

    Aneta2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin across the street from the lake. Clean space with nice set up. There are houses close by (next door and across the street) so not secluded but still quiet and peaceful surroundings. Host was easy to communicate with. Enjoyed our stay!

  • Edson was great about rescheduling to another time due to COVID 19 and our desire to stay home. We can't wait to visit soon when this has passed.

Our place is on a gentle flowing river, close to waterfalls, walks and the Berkshire cultural sites like Tanglewood and Jacobs Pillow . You’ll love our place because of the river, the deck, the hot tub; complete tranquility and a home away from home. Close to some great sites and activities, far enough away to escape. Our place is good for couples, friends and solo adventurers. Snowboarders/Skiers (or snow bunnies) and families can have great fun too! Sit back, relax and enjoy our home!
  • Ahhh, magical... Our stay wasn’t long enough! From cooking dinners in the open kitchen (that has everything you’d need!) with the fire going in the corner, to evenings and morning in the hot tub, to being lulled asleep by the sound of the river at night; did I say magical? Thank you so much Patrick! I’m sure we’ll be back!

    Keaton2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. Great place great service.

    Karen2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away from it all! The location along the river is perfect, and I enjoyed spending time on the deck and hot tub taking it all in. Communication was very fast and easy, and the place is exactly as described. The neighbours are friendly, and there are some nice trails within walking distance or a short drive. Would happily stay again.

    Vanessa2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this stay. This cozy house on the riverside is great for people who love hiking, skiing or chilling in the water. The house has more than you would ever need. I cant wait to go back!

    Jay2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The home was in a quiet neighborhood, was very clean, and cozy. The hot tub was an amazing bonus, especially being able to relax in it and listen to the river. Wonderful weekend get away!

    Ellen2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Patrick and Fiona’s home! It was impeccably clean, large and comfortable. Lots of old home character. The river is lovely, and the hot tub was highly enjoyable. Just enough personal touches around the house to make it feel homey and give you an idea of the owners adventuresome spirits, without feeling like you’re an intruder. Very pleasant and relaxing place to stay! Carrie & Wade

  • This place is great!! Right on a good size brook, with views from the hot tub. Had everything to allow us to cook ourselves or go out. Cable, and Wifi for the rainy days. Lee outlets right down the road. We will be coming back!!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the camper. It was a short drive to Jacobs Pillow and had all of the basic amenities you could ask for. A great way to unplug from the frenzy of NYC for a few days!

    Adam2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an amazing stay! The camper is perfect and cozy and the farm itself is stunning. Both Tanglewood and Jacob’s Pillow are easy drives away to world class entertainment and the hiking and nature around the farm itself is gorgeous. The historic quarry is especially fun! Donna is such a warm and hospitable host and the camper had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing weekend.

    Lizzie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Donna and Scott's place is great! The camper is basic, but has everything you need. Hosts were so friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect to explore the Berkshires - many of the attractions are within a half hour drive which seems much shorter since it's so beautiful.

    Kathleen2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This camper is immaculately renovated by Donna herself, and it was an absolute joy to stay here. Donna is extremely accommodating and generous, showing us the grounds of the farm, letting us walk the horses, and even letting us pick blueberries from the field. The camper itself is the perfect oasis from a city, so quiet you can hear the birds in the forrest. Waking up to the sun rising over the horse barn is a great way to have a relaxing stay. Also make sure to walk to the produce stand around the corner, they have amazing ice cream!

    Allison2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s vintage camper is delightful! I grew up camping in similar campers and felt such nostalgia with the original details. We had everything we needed and my kids loved waking up to the farm, with horses, chickens and beautiful sunrises. I look forward to coming back! Thank you Donna and Scott!

    Liz2019-07-21T00:00:00Z

  • Super cute and comfy space! we had 2 great fires, private and clean, adorable covered deck with chairs and a grill. Very close to the reservoir and other hiking and kayaking spaces like the tolland forest and Big Pond. Kevin was super nice and gave us a few pointers for the best places to go. we look forward to staying again in the future :)

  • We were bummed to hear there were no horses. :( I ride so I was excited to see them but the room was perfect either way. Great amenities (microwave, mini fridge, lots of outlets) Nice, quiet location Free parking Responsive, friendly host Sparkling clean Comfy bed and boiling hot shower! We really enjoyed our stay and meeting Kevin. We will definitely stay with him again when we are in the area.

    Alexandra2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin's space is located in a serene area covered by a lot of trees. It is slightly isolated but that's part of the charm of the place. It's an amazing place to just unwind and take it slowly. A couple of friends and I had spent the weekend here and it was amazing to spend time here. Kevin was a great host, helping us with directions when there was no network with great directions. Really enjoyed the stay!

Back deck looks out onto private wooded yard. Weekly rental discounted. *Please note that Massachusetts collects a Occupancy Tax for short term rentals. Operator Certificate Number C0036152250
If you have ever desired a true log cabin with current comfort amenities and light filled space, this home is for you! The best of both thermal log construction and contemporary open living. The natural landscape outside will make you feel like your in the woods, but you are within a very established neighborhood that is safe and sound. In summer we have separate window A/C units for comfort, but no central air. The loft is cooled at night by natural air flow through sliding doors and ceiling fan. In winter the Gas fireplace in the living room and the central heating system make the cabin very comfortable.
This is an established neighborhood in the beautiful woods of Otis. We are in sight of neighbors, yet you have the privacy of the wooded back yard and trees to buffer the road front view. Easy access within 1 mile of Route 23 , traveling about 25 minutes east to Great Barrington.
  • Hollise's house is a lovely Birkshires getaway. Great location, well appointed, newer construction, and a scenic spot in the forest. Fast, timely communication and a superb host. This was our second stay here and would definitely stay again.

    Matthew2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I went at the start of Spring. Hollise's spot is <20 minutes from a large list of various hiking spots, which was perfect for us. The cabin, the light throughout the day, the amenities etc. were all tip top. I would certainly come back again with a larger group. The kitchen was also very well equipped as well. Hollise was a great host, and was available in case we had any questions. Hope to visit again during another season.

    Ezra2020-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Hollise has a gorgeous home with great views of a forest out the back deck. We were lucky enough to be there one day when it snowed overnight and it was delightful to be able to wake up and sip warm beverages while watching what felt like our own little winter wonderland out the windows. The home itself is immaculately cared for and has a wonderfully-equipped kitchen. The beds are comfortable and we slept quite well. The whole home is relatively open and it feels very natural to move from place to place as the day goes on.

  • Hollise's log cabin home is lovely, peaceful, clean, and well-appointed. It has a very cozy feel. We really appreciate being so close to nature, and the great proximity to Birkshire hiking trails. Check in was a breeze. Looking forward to staying here again.

    Matthew2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is absolutely beautiful and spacious. My family (2 young boys and my husband) spent a couple of weeks at the cabin and we really enjoyed it. Even though it was cold outside, you very much felt you we in nature due to the open floor plan, big windows and sky lights. I highly recommend the cabin and I hope to return next year. Also, Hollise is an awesome host. She is very responsive and left nice touches like Starbucks coffee! The cabin is also very clean. If you are looking for a beautiful log cabin among nature and in the heart of the Berkshires, this cabin is the place for you!

    Marie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing windows! Beautiful space! Super clean! Lots of kitchen tools for cooking and basic needs! It's a wonderful cozy place. The loft is very open and roomy. Great hosts!!

    Jennifer2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • There are a ton of windows so it made the snowy view picturesque! It was very easy to get in and out, you feel secluded in the woods. We went out for the day and when we came back the driveway was plowed. The beds are very comfy and the gas fireplace really heats up. Hollise was very responsive and helpful. A great getaway.

Beautiful two bedroom cabin in the Berkshires at Big Pond in Otis Massachusetts Walking distance to the lake excellent place to relax and just get away. Local Restaurants and shopping close. For recreation boating JetSki Quading trails kayaking on the lake and much more.
  • Wonderful place, the trails for riding were amazing - exactly what we were looking for in a place to stay. Big pond was a beautiful view; the grill was awesome - perfect for dinner & lunches. Overall prime spot and very close to home which was even better! Hidden gem

  • Andrew was very responsive and the cabin exterior and interior is even better in person. The lake and neighbors were very nice. Would definitely recommend.

    Sandy2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was accommodating and responsive. We had a great time at the nearby public beach on the lake. Nice grill and fully outfitted kitchen too.

    Mickey2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is close to the local beach. Great amenities. Friendly neighbors and wonderful scenery. Very quiet and peaceful. I would do it all over again!!!. Thanks Andrew.

    Eddy2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's place was great, comfortable fitting 7 people. We spent most of our time hanging out on the porch, grilling (really great grill), and throwing a ball in the field behind his house. It's spacious outside and everybody fit comfortable inside. We also took a walk down to the lake and waded in the water, hanging out by the beach. The communication with Andrew was great, as we spoke on the phone before the trip and sent instructional videos for flipping the circuits. One thing to look out for, the GPS will tell you to take an overgrown road close to the house, but this is incorrect- the road looks like it isn't meant for cars. Stay straight and take the next right- the house is close to the top of the street on the left, not down by the water. Overall, a great time and a place I would book again!

    Jake2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot in the Berkshires, off the beaten path but close to amenities. Near Big Pond (though it was too cold to swim when we stayed) and other outdoor recreation. The house has plenty of outdoor cooking utilities so bring friends and enjoy a meal together. Thanks Andrew!

A quiet, secluded house in the forest with fireplace and jacuzzi on a clean swimmable lake near Jacob's Pillow and other Berkshires attractions.
2 Bedroom house on a half acre on beautiful clean lake. 3 Mbps wireless internet, washer-dryer, large deck and sunroom. The original house was a single story open plan. We added a second floor which includes a spacious queen bedroom and a fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom with granite counter tops and a large Kohler jacuzzi. There is a memory foam 3 inch topper to the bed for extra comfort. The downstairs has a bedroom with a full size bed and closet. There is an additional bathroom downstairs with shower. We also added a beautiful sunroom with a full futon couch. The downstairs has a wood burning stove for a cozy night indoors. The downstairs is also open and spacious with wood floors, the kitchen and upstairs are furnished. We left the bathroom downstairs as it was originally. It had a metal shower stall and is small. Instead of trying to squeeze new fixtures in there we put an ultra-luxurious Kohler jacuzzi in a spacious bathroom upstairs. It's not a nice shower downstairs so you don't have to use it. The lake is clean and very nice for swimming. There is a sandy beach across the way that you can walk to from the house for an easy way into the water. Don't go into the water from the property as it is muddy and slippery. The beach across the house is private and has sand all the way into the water. The house is 5 minutes from Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, 15 minutes from the Dream Away Lodge (quite the night spot! with live music and great food and ambiance) 25 minutes from Shakespeare and Co and Tanglewood. The house is in a forest and prone to visitations from wild critters. Be sure not to leave any food outside. Put the fire out completely before leaving the fire pit by the lake. Field mice are everywhere but they are friendly and non-toxic. You may hear them occasionally but they are docile and keep to themselves.
The forest and the clean lake are the reasons I like the neighborhood. There is also a quaint general store in the forest that serves breakfast. Lots of local color and friendly helpful people. New England style friendliness is reserved but positive.
  • This was an amazing stay. Everything from the lake to the master suite was all a delight. Even if it rains in the all glass room attached to the kitchen made even a gloomy day seem amazing. I will 100% recommend this place to anyone. The hot tub is a luxury that I must have moving forward I loved it. I wanted to cry leaving it felt like home.

  • Everything was awesome. Jacuzzi tub was totally the highlight. Nice view from back porch.

Enjoy a rustic wooded retreat up in the cool Berkshire hills, surrounded by nature and wildlife, in a quiet, secluded, safe and peaceful setting, yet very close to many top-notch cultural and recreational attractions. Nearby trails, pristine lakes and woods offer hiking, swimming and cycling. Experience the absence of mechanical sounds and the centering presence of rustling leaves, birdsong, and owls hooting at night. Behold a star-studded black night sky without artificial light.
You'll enjoy a spacious, cool and comfortable room on the second floor with a King size bed with fresh cotton sheets, down comforter in winter, dressers, closet, bedside table, big windows with cross-ventilation and fans in summer, wood floors and private full bath. Surrounded by woods, nature and wildlife, a rustic and cozy getaway in a secluded and peaceful setting in rural Sandisfield, yet close to first-class restaurants, museums, theater and shopping. Enjoy clean air, quiet, and a healthy and allergen-free environment to soothe your soul and refresh your senses. We are in the mountains, so summer nights are cool (on average 10 degrees cooler than nearby Great Barrington and Lee), dark and star-filled. Note: we have 2 bedrooms available. The other room (also with King bed) is listed under "Berkshire Hospitality and Comfort". If you want to book both rooms, just let me know and if they're both available I will arrange it.
You can walk, run, bike, or cross-country ski out the front door on a quiet, scenic, safe, no traffic country road. Foxes, owls, wild turkeys, geese & ducks, coyotes, deer and moose are common sights. Situated between Sandisfield and Otis State Forests, surrounded by nature, serene and quiet, yet only 25 min. to Tanglewood, Norman Rockwell Museum, Kripalu Yoga retreat, Berkshire Theater Festival, Shakespeare and Co., Catamount ski and snowboard resort; 20 min. to Great Barrington (named "Best Small Town in America" by Smithsonian mag) and Lee for dining, shopping, natural food stores; only 15 min. to Jacob's Pillow Dance, Butternut Ski Area, concerts, theater, Appalachian Trail, craft fairs, farmers' markets and much more! Only minutes to farm stands, restaurants, Sandisfield Arts Center, swimming beaches on clear lakes, hiking trails. Great breakfast & lunch at the nearby Monterey General Store and the Roadside Café, and many excellent dinner choices in Great Barrington & Lee – just ask us for recommendations! Berkshire County has a wide range of cultural and recreational attractions: museums year-round include Rockwell, Berkshire Museum, the Clark Art Museum and the fabulous Mass. Museum of Contemporary Art. Hancock Shaker Village is a “living history” museum and many live theaters and music performances abound throughout the year.
  • This place is an absolute gem! George and Annalee are the most kind, hospitable hosts one could ever ask for, and they give you the full Berkshire experience with their tips for things to see and do in the area. Their home is beautiful and unique, and the views traveling around their neighborhood are stunning too. Breakfast was delicious—can’t leave that part out!

    Jessi2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • George and Annalee were friendly and pleasant to visit with, offered helpful advice about things to do and see in the area, and served us a nice breakfast. They're home was comfortable and peaceful in a beautiful area.

    Christopher2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • George and Annalee were very accommodating and kind. If you are looking to go someplace with no traffic noise and no city congestion this is the place. Very secluded, surrounded by trees and birds chirping in the morning. A lovely home and a very warm and welcoming environment. The bedroom was very cozy and the bathroom had everything I needed. They have fresh water from their well on their property. George makes some really good french toast and is good conversation as well. George and Annalee provided just the experience I was looking for. Thank you George and Annalee!

    Justin2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very welcoming spot to stay while in the Berkshires. George and Annalee could not have been nicer or more informative. They give suggestions on places to eat and hike and are very good conversationalists. Their accommodations are excellent and the whole place is fragrant from the wood stove. I slept well as the bed is comfortable and the atmosphere quiet. It is truly a great place to stay. Highly recommended!

    Samantha2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Get away from the city, unplug, kick back and relax. This is the place to reconnect with friends and family without distractions. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and engage in the great outdoors. George and Annalee are very warm and welcoming. You'll enjoy clean, neat and cozy accommodations in a rustic setting. George and Annalee provide delicious family style breakfasts with lively conversation. There's no TV, no internet or WiFi. But there's plenty other things to do that will keep you busy. George and Annalee are like personal tour guides with a wealth of information that will make your stay very enjoyable.

  • Had a lovely stay with George and Annalee! They are such a welcoming couple with lots of knowledge about the history of the area. Plus I enjoyed breakfast each morning with them! Would recommend to anyone needing a peaceful retreat in the Berkshires :)

Welcome to your light-filled home in The Berkshires. With a two-level wraparound deck & open floorplan, you can enjoy your time together, away from the world. Big spaces and cozy spots throughout. Perfect for families (with a swingset!) or getaways with friends. Otis Reservoir, MA's biggest lake, is nearby. Audubon preserve behind the house. Great, private home base for Tanglewood, Lenox, Great Barrington, Jacob's Pillow, Kripalu & MassMOCA... or for going nowhere at all. Dogs OK! (note: fee)
This home features three floors. On the main floor, enjoy gathering together--or apart. Talk or read on comfy couches under the cathedral ceiling, while others do puzzles on the game table, someone else naps on the couch while a fire crackles in the stone fireplace, and the kids watch a movie, cozy on the leather sectional by the 55" TV. Cooks will enjoy the fully-equipped kitchen, stocked with quality pots and pans, tea, coffee, oils and spices. You'll have a gas stove, full-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, a griddle for pancakes, and all the dishes you'll possibly need. Everyone can fit around the dining table. Gas BBQ grill on the deck is available year round. Upstairs features two bedrooms. The master bedroom includes a queen bed plus fold-out twin cot, as well as an en suite bath with walk-in shower and your own private balcony. (In summer or fall, enjoy your morning coffee at the table for two.) The second bedroom also has a queen; while its bathroom is just outside the bedroom door, no other bedroom shares it. The lower level bedroom, with beds for four plus a fold-out futon mattress and a portable crib, offers perfect privacy for a family; we have found that sound doesn't travel upstairs, so even an early-rising toddler will not wake upstairs sleepers. We also offer three twin size sleeping mattresses you can put in any bedroom. These give lots of flexibility for children to sleep wherever you like. Another alternative, depending on your group: put all the kids in the lower-level as a bunkroom! Did we mention there's an air-hockey table there, too? In the warmer months, while away your afternoons on the two-floor wraparound deck. Enjoy sun upstairs and shade downstairs, including a porch swing that overlooks the forest. For young kids, a backyard swingset completes the fun. In winter, the deck is lovely as a spot for stargazing... or building snow forts! You'll find four sleds at the house, if the snow beckons. _______ Please note: because well water and septic sustain this house, we can host up to 10 adults at most. If some in your group are children, we can extend that to 11 or 12 people. If you have more people than that, we suggest combining this home with some of the other Airbnbs nearby; although the home is spacious for entertaining, we cannot host larger groups due to showering, other water use, and general wear and tear (it is our family home as well). Thank you for your understanding! :-)
This lovely wooded setting is adjacent to an Audubon wildlife refuge for cottontail rabbits and songbirds; a short hike up the hill will reveal a 360-degree panorama of the nearby lake and valleys of the Berkshires. Stroll down the road a bit further and you'll find yourself on the very path of the the historic Knox Trail; picture the colonists pulling cannons to Boston through these forests, where you are now. The house is part of East Otis, a rural town at the edge of the Otis Reservoir that offers a lovely home base for exploring the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. Here you'll find all the essentials: two general stores, a Saturday morning farmer's market all summer, soft-serve ice cream into the summer night, a couple restaurants, fishing bait for sale, a waterfront kayak rental spot, and the Tolland State Forest with its sandy beach for lake swimming and hikes ($8/car day pass), all within 5-10 minute drive of the house. You can see three neighbor's homes from the house, but that's it... and you'll see very few other people on this rural road. Venture just 15-30 minutes away, and your options are endless: In warmer months, enjoy the world-renowned cultural attractions of Jacob's Pillow, Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and MassMOCA, plus gorgeous outdoor destinations and blueberry picking. In fall, marvel at the glorious New England foliage and go apple picking, while enjoying the museums and restaurants in Lenox, Great Barrington, and beyond. In winter, ski Otis Ridge (popular, with night-skiing, just 10 minutes away) or go to Ski Butternut (larger, family-friendly, 30 minutes). Maple Corner Farm, and Canterbury Farm, each about 20 minutes away, rent snowshoes and cross-country ski equipment and offer lovely trails. In spring, soak it all in as this wonderland turns green.
  • Niki and Adam's place was perfect! Our group of 9 had more than enough room to relax, and it was sparkling clean and cozy. We felt so at home! The beds were super comfortable, there were plenty of blankets, sheets, pillows and towels, plus small thoughtful amenities like shampoo and body wash. The kitchen was very well stocked, and notes around the house made navigating easy. We loved using the fireplace and the board games. This really was everything we could have hoped for in a weekend getaway. We'd love to return!

    Leslie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in the Berkshires! Lots of room, very clean, and fun things to do if you just want to get away and stay in, or go out and ski or snow tube. Niki and Adam responded quickly to any questions we had and it was a great getaway!

    Christine2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location in late fall for many activities - walking, hiking or visiting nearby museum. We enjoyed all of it! Local market - Katie’s - has everything we forgot. We did shop in advance knowing the nearest supermarket was 40 minutes away. The house is very comfortable, beds great, plenty of space for the six of us. Fireplace was a nice feature. Communications with the hosts was great - easy & timely.

    Betsy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This house is nestled in the woods and a great place to get away. It’s well kept and we enjoyed our stay.

    Matthew2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great for anyone looking to get away. The only note I’d have is to just be mindful of all of the signs that are present in the house; they are your friend!

    John2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Niki & Adam’s house was the perfect destination for a fall friends meet up. We’re living in Boston and we had some friends from San Francisco in town so we wanted to show them the classic New England fall landscape. The house itself was so fun, charming, clean, and well-stocked. The common space has huge comfy couches and a big table for optimal board game time and hanging out. You’re right in the woods, so it was perfect for leaf peeping. We also went apple picking about 20 minutes away. Just make sure to do some groceries ahead of time since the closest store is 30+ min away driving. There is a small store about 5 min away (where we luckily found enough ingredients to make meals for 10 people!) but if you’re looking for something specific you should bring it. Also I’d say that Niki did such a lovely job communicating with me about my plans for the weekend — I felt really taken cared of and set up to have the weekend we wanted.

    Lara2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Niki's place for a family weekend getaway (couple + two kids and a grandparent). The place was everything we hoped for and more: clean and comfortable, surrounded by nature, with lots of space for our family to spend time both together and alone (the kids couldn't get enough of the playground...). Communication with Niki was easy and she was super available to answer our questions upon arrival. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a relaxing place in a nature setting at the Berkshires.

    Yoav2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay !!!!. It was really a pleasant stay !!!? Originally we were planning to stay & explore areas in Otis for 1 day, and go to visit Boston for second day. However we liked this house & surrounding area so much that we stayed in this house for 2.5 days and really enjoyed the place. Niki & Adam are the gr8 hosts and they were prompt for my all questions. Thanks Niki & Adam for hosting this house to us. Also this house is sparkling clean. Only one thing is we preferred to sleep in main Hall near TV instead of ground floor bedroom considering there is no much ventilation in front floor bedroom. Other than this everything was excellent. I strongly recommend this house. Thanks, Sanjay, Sachin & Sushant !!!

  • Scott's cottage was beautiful. It is nicely situated near a lake and the location was what my husband and I were looking for. The cottage was super clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Scott is a great host. His home has every thing you’d need for a get away. He met me for check in and showed me down to the beautiful lake, it’s just a few minute walk. We brought our dog who loved exploring the property and taking quick dips in the water. We chose Scott’s property to enjoy the fall foliage and it was perfectly in peek, he even had some fall decor out which made it feel extra cozy!

    Kerry2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great location, great value!

    Dominic2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Scott's cabin. The location is perfect - it is tucked away right next to a lake (~30 second walk down a path to the dock), and is a beautiful spot to visit in the fall. Scott's cabin is perfect for friends looking to get away for the weekend - there was plenty of room for each of us (4), with a wonderful deck, a spot for a fire, and close proximity to a beautiful lake. The cabin was clean, there were more than enough dishes for us to use to cook / eat with, and there was shampoo / conditioner / body wash / and plenty of towels. The location is great, too - close to quaint New England towns and tons of hiking, with more than enough privacy. Scott's instructions were very clear, and if we had any questions he was always quick to respond (never had to wait more than 5 minutes). He was incredibly flexible with our check in time, as we had a late arrival, and was always available to offer help or instructions. My friends and I are already looking forward to coming back for a trip next year!

Lovely new lakefront home with beautiful patio and yard overlooking Laurel Lake. Beautiful view of lake from kitchen, living room, loft, patio, and screened-in porch. House has 2 bedrooms plus a large loft with a double bed. Yard includes a dock for swimming. In the winter, enjoy beautiful views of the lake from the cozy living room with oversized windows. Also, easy access to Berkshire skiing! Perfect weekend get-away!
This recently constructed open floor plan home has lots of light and beautiful views of the lake. There is an outdoor patio overlooking the lake with chairs for lounging and a table for eating (seats 10 when expanded). There is also a screened in porch, also overlooking the lake. The dock has a ladder for easy access to swimming. There's a hammock (usually in the shade) just steps from the water - a great spot for an afternoon snooze-, and a good size yard. Yard is ideal for kids to play in. There is a public boat ramp about 1/8 of a mile from the house. In the winter, enjoy beautiful views of the lake from the cozy living room with oversized windows. There is also easy access to Butternut, Jiminy Peak, and Bosquet ski areas, and great cross country skiing options as well. Guest will have the house fully to themselves with full privacy. This is a great spot for families, couples, or getaways with friends. This get-away is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a lake environment. There is access to wireless internet, Sonos sound system, and color-changing lights over the kitchen island and in the small bedroom (a big hit with kids). There is a smart TV - there is no cable or antenna but guests can log into their Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or You Tube TV accounts. In addition to the house amenities, there's a hotel on the lake with kayak and pontoon boat rentals, and a public beach with a lifeguard for beach-based swimming (about half a mile away by land). The house has ample parking for two cars.
The house is less than 10 minutes to Tanglewood, downtown Lenox, and downtown Lee. There's also an outlet mall in Lee with Nike, Gap, J Crew, etc. There's easy access to all the Berkshire attractions that including the Norman Rockwell museum, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare & Company theatre, and much more. In the winter, three ski areas are within half an hour: Bosque (closest and smallest), Butternut, and Jiminy Peak. Jiminy Peak (our favorite) is the biggest and has a 6 person high speed chair.
  • Very comfortable house in a great location. So special to be right next to the lake!

  • If you're looking for a rustic cabin in the Bershires, this is not the place. Lisa's place is a beautiful new-build that is sparkling clean and fully equipped. She's right on the water and minutes away from quaint downtown Lee. Perfect for a weekend getaway. We'd happily stay again!

    Kathryn2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic long weekend away! Lisa's home could not have fit our family's needs better. The home is steps from Laurel Lake, which was very quiet and peaceful. Our kids (ages 10 and 7 1/2) enjoyed canoeing and kayaking for the first time, and there were life jackets to fit us all. The kids loved playing soccer with the available balls and net, and we had a serious game of "velcro ball". The loft space allowed the kids to play with all the toys and games at the house, giving Mom and Dad our own space downstairs. The two bedrooms worked well for us, and with a fan running during the night, you could not hear any of the passing traffic. The kitchen has ample supplies, and the Keurig machine was a great treat. There are enough towels and sheets for everyone. Don't forget the gas grill, fire pit, outdoor furniture, screened-in porch, washer/dryer, smart TV, Sonos sound system, and color changing lights... The kids are already asking when we can go back.

  • Wendy’s place was great! She and her husband met us at check in and were available if needed. It was nice to get away for the weekend and have our own private space. The full kitchen was awesome and everything was clean and comfortable. We also got to walk around the farm a little and feed the horses some treats 😊. Had a great stay!

    Rachel2018-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Wendy and Kevin's place. The apartment was simple but very comfortable and very clean. Wendy and Kevin were there to great us and available if we had any questions. It was great to be able to go pet the horses and give them treats. A very nice break from city life!

  • Very cozy rustic place with great horses. If you love horses and a laid-back country vibe, this is the place for you

    Steve2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Wendy and Kevin’s place. We stayed in the unit above the garage which was simple, but perfect for what we were looking for. We took a trail ride and had a great time. My one friend was very nervous about horseback riding, but Wendy did everything to make her feel comfortable. The fresh chicken eggs in the morning were also a nice touch :) thank you Wendy and Kevin!

    Lisa2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and her husband were very accommodating. Unfortunately we chose a rainy week but found several things to do in the area. All in all we had a great time

    Pat2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! We stayed for one night during Labor Day weekend and it was perfect. Taking the row boat out was super fun! Also the discounted horse ride was fun (for one in my group it was his first time going!) the space was very private and had everything we needed. It was buggy, but that’s to be expected. I’d definitely recommend a stay with Wendy! Both Wendy and her husband Kevin were very nice and helpful!

    Rachel2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were happily switched to a different apartment per Wendy’s request prior to our arrival. The one we ended up in was huge and offered plenty of space for multiple guests. This AirBnB is located just two minutes drive from small a local store, and is surrounded by trails and beautiful sunlit trees. Not to mention the horses and chickens! Unfortunately, my family and I stayed here during a very difficult end to a very difficult trip, but the peace and tranquility of this setting was soothing to us, and our little one had plenty to do, including feeding his new horse friends. Thanks Wendy and Kevin! :)

    Maria2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay for a family. I stayed her with my mom and 1 year old daughter and we all had a nice time. We had a kitchen so we could prepare some meals. Wendy is warm and welcoming. The horses are beautiful and fun to watch. Hoping to come back this fall.

  • We chose this location for a friend weekend away and had a great time. It wasn't the biggest space but it was perfect for us. The photos accurately show what the place is like, what you see there is what you get. Having 3 full baths was great with our large group, although we had to stagger showers to not use up all the hot water at once. The living room has a lot of large windows (pictured) as does the loft area, so those areas get a lot of morning sun if anyone is sleeping there. Luckily for early morning people, that was great. We had some varied temperature days (cold mornings and warm afternoons) and the place was easy to regulate the temperature so it was nice inside. The kitchen was large enough and had utensils and space for all our food, especially since the house is pretty far from most food places. Not a problem, we came with groceries and loved using the kitchen for meals. The house is set just off the road, so it's easy to access but still feels nice and secluded among the woods. The grounds were also really nice. We went out one night and had an amazing view of the stars by standing on the tennis courts. I would agree with the listing, in the snow, the driveway is a bit steep because its gravel, but in non snowy weather, it was fine for our group and the top of the driveway had a large area for all of our cars to park. The hosts were easy to contact beforehand to get the check-in info and once we were there, there was a handy sheet with all the house rules, WiFi/amenities info, and checkout instructions. This made it easy to go through the house and check things off at check out. If you're looking for a place for a larger group getaway in the woods, it's a great space and I would highly recommend it!

  • This cabin is beautiful. Plenty of space for hanging out and enough room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Living room + kitchen area is very open which is amazing. Nearest full size ski mountain is an hour away so thats a little far but we still enjoyed the place very much. Would recommend this to a friend.

  • Our stay was perfect! Lance was super easy to communicate with. We had 14 guests and there was more than enough room. Family meals at the HUGE table will be memories for us forever!!

    Kristen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beyond amazing- pictures don't do it justice. Everything was clean and beautiful. The basement is getting removed and it looks like it will be a game room. That is going to make the place even better, if that is possible. Lance was awesome in communicating and sending over his salt/sand guy to help us out when the car would not go up the driveway. Thank you so much for making the weekend an amazing one. I will definitely return!

  • Arriving just before sunset started the trip with an amazing view once opening the door and walking into the kitchen area. We were a group of 5 couples with kids and dogs that have been gathering each year for the past 5 years. This house has been the best we have used. Lance's communication is the best we have experienced at an AirBnB. The open nature of the first floor allowed for discussions, games and relaxing at the same time while maintaining a watchful eye on the little ones. Amazing stay.

  • We recently spent a wonderful, snowy weekend with three generations of our family at the Monterey Cabin! This was our Christmas gift to each other and we truly enjoyed our time together! The cabin is massive, with a huge, fully stocked kitchen, a beautiful dining room table that easily seats 17, and a common room with a woodstove that made the room cozy despite its enormous size! Bedrooms and bathrooms galore! This house allows for a large group to be together without ever being in one another's way! Everyone of our family members wants to come back in the future! Lance was a welcoming host and was quick to respond to our few questions during the stay. Thank you Lance!

    Linda2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was a great host. He was very prompt to respond to any message and was very helpful. House is exactly as described.

    Julie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was an amazing host. We have a baby so we asked if he had a crib about a month before our stay. The answer was “no” but he then went out, bought one for the house, and built it for us. Incredible. Also during our stay there was a snowstorm and he proactively texted us updates from the power company (there was a 10 minute outage) and even arranged for a snow plow to come without us asking. Beautiful cabin and truly A+ service!

    Aaron2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house is fantastic for a large Group. We celebrated thanksgiving at the house and it was Terrific. The host quickly answered every Question we had and even bought new pots and wine glasses for us to make sure that we had what we needed for the feast! The wood Burning stove was superb and there was a ton of firewood chopped and ready for us. It is a Wonderful place!

    Allison2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was better than expected. The space for all our friends was perfect and didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Sleeping arrangements were perfect and it was super clean. I would come back to this location again and Lance was super helpful for any questions we had regarding the home.

This cottage has been in our family for 50 years. It's right on the water and in a cove so it is very safe for children.
We have a closed in porch on the front of the house overlooking the water. We have a deck along the whole side of the house that gets the sun throughout the day. We have a dock that accommodates many sunbathers by day and stargazers by night.
Cottage is located on a small street. There is a circular driveway and on street parking.
  • Had a great time hanging out on the dock swimming. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to get away and relax!

    Topher2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice cottage and a reasonable cost and no excessive fees added on like some do. You are expected to leave the cottage in the condition you found it when you arrived but all cleaning supplies are provided and its a easy place to keep clean, there are no carpets and mostly open areas. I did need a cottage that was pet friendly and this one allowed pets. I was surprised at all the supplies that were available for us to use in the house. From all kitchen needs, soaps, dvds, grill, outside fire pit etc. Everything you would have in your own home. The board and electronic games came in handy for the rainy weather. There is also a washer and dryer with soap available and plenty of towels for use. This is a nice place to rent if you like r+r or lake time if the weather allows. Also if you like hiking there is plenty of that. We were able to swing by Becket Quarry parking is $10 but worth it, it's a little hike in the woods but some nice history and about a 17 minute ride from the cottage. A must see. The area did not have much close by such as stores but it did have a country store with a little food stand beside and also a convenience store close to that. There is a little fresh maple syrup stand right down the road that's super cheap and delish. Would we stay her again, yes. I would definetly be loading up my kayaks next time so we could spend some time on the lake the only thing I really regret.

  • Pamela's cottage was an amazing weekend vacation for us. Situated almost right next to the water with its own dock, the cottage is in a heavily forested and peaceful part of the country. We were particularly looking for a summer swim in a lake, to enjoy some BBQ, go on a short hike and generally just relax - all of which we found comfortable at the cottage. There is literally all types of lounging available: indoor living room with a TV (amazon fire stick) and fireplace; Outdoor deck with a grill to play cards on; Indoor shed looking on to the lake to play board games late into the night; A deck on the lake to read a book; float around in the water which is in a quieter and secluded part of the reservoir. There is enough space to park two large vehicles at least. Although we did not meet her (which some people find preferable), Pamela was very responsive throughout and gave easy check-in instructions. We were 2 couples and 3 other friends so the bedroom combination was perfect. All beddings and some extra are provided. There is 1 bathroom but there is an abundance of towels. The Kitchen is fully stocked and has a big fridge, toaster oven, water boiler, dishwasher, stove. All required cutlery, pots and pans are available. This is a fully functional kitchen unlike some rentals, and we enjoyed making our dinners and breakfasts. There are lots of DVDs and Boardgames, however, on that front, we had brought our own. The deck is great to sit on and has citronella candles to ward off most mosquitoes. Martha's Country Store is a 5 minutes drive away and is well-stocked with most supplies, vegetables, and meats. It also has a Fast Food joint around the corner with breakfast, burgers and ice cream. We would definitely recommend Pamela's cottage.

  • This rental was perfect for what we were looking for which was right on the lake, per friendly and quiet. The location is close to Tolland State Park which had great hiking trails; and not too far of a drive to the other trails we checked out. The view of the lake gave a great backdrop. Pamela was responsive and gave clear check in instructions. Cute place with what we needed as we mostly spent the weekend out and about. I would stay here again.

    Jillian2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela's place was all we were expecting and more. Located on a lake front with a nice sized dock, the house is very cozy with a large closed-in porch facing the lake. There is a well stocked country store nearby and easy access to cultural places like Stockbridge and ski areas . I would heartily recommend Pamela's place without reservation.

This recently renovated waterfront home is perfectly situated close to many Berkshire attractions for an ideal getaway. Lake views are stunning year around. The fire-pit at shore offers a unique outdoor gathering option. Warm and welcoming interior with three levels of living for families and friends (up to 8 people). Area offers family-friendly hiking. Enjoy the whimsical decor and mid-century style furnishings. Cook in the well-equipped kitchen.
Thank you for your interest in staying at our home. We acquired our lake house a few ago. My husband grew up spending his summers in the Berkshires – his father was a violinist in the Boston Symphony and they have a summer season at Tanglewood. We agreed that it would be amazing to offer our children that sort of rich experience, creating memories around summers at the lake and exploring all that the magical Berkshire area has to offer. Our young children absolutely adore this spot and our whole family is in love with the house and everything Big Pond has to offer. During the summers, the lake is ideal for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, pedal boating, and fishing. At our private sandy beach and dock, the water is very shallow and has a silky, sandy bottom. The kids can play carefree all day. During the off-season, the house is a real get-away from the grind of our regular city life in the Boston area. It’s incredibly quiet and remote, with only a few residents around, and the lake is a spectacle of natural beauty. In the early mornings, we have been in awe of the sunrise over the mirror-like surface of the water. At other times, we have admired the rough, powerful force of the winds whipping over the water. Fall foliage is a true marvel as you have panoramic views of the lake right from our back porch. On the opposite side of the lake is a state forest, boasting undeveloped woodlands and offering public hiking trails and even camping. Under the right conditions during the winter season, the lake freezes over and you can ice skate or snow mobile over its surface. No matter what time of year, the varied natural beauty of this setting is stunning. We take pride in the home itself, as it was an overwhelming renovation project. A lot of thought was put into spatial layout, as well as eclectic furnishings to make it a cozy, family-friendly gathering place. It truly is ideal for two families, or larger groups of people. The home features three full floors of living. The open-format living/dining/kitchen area of the main floor features incredible views of the lake, while the open floor plan is perfect for gatherings. You can lounge on the comfy couches and armchairs, while others can socialize around the kitchen island, prepare and cook a meal, or play games on the dining table. We have DirectTV with lots of live channels. The cell reception is also excellent (LTE for us using AT&T) and you can easily stream movies through your wireless device. Cooks will enjoy the fully-equipped kitchen, stocked with quality pots and pans, tea, coffee, oils and spices. Feel free to use what you need. You'll have an electric stove, stainless refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee maker, electric tea kettle, a toaster, a panini press, and all the dishes or utensils you'll possibly need. You can fit 6 people around the dining table, 8-10 with the extension leaf. Step onto our wrap-around porch to breathe in the fresh air and take in spectacular views of the lake. In the off-season, there is virtually no activity on the lake. Perhaps the only spotting might be of the nesting pair of bald eagles from the island across the way - they often take flight overhead, and have been known to land in the tall trees near our property. A bath with shower and a cozy bedroom complete this floor. The bedroom has an extra-long twin bed, a genuine sheep-skin rug, and a built-in dresser which is original to the house. The upstairs is ideal for a family to spread out over two bedrooms. It offers an open format which is very family friendly, but perhaps not ideal for strangers! The master bedroom has a real ‘wow’ factor extending the full width of the house with an A-frame ceiling lined with knotty pine. This is loft-style in that there’s an opening to the downstairs dining room, which is of course secured by a high railing. You can admire the lake through three bay windows, take a soak in the free-standing tub, situated right in the master bedroom, or escape to our private outdoor balcony. The master bedroom has a small hallway and does not have a door. However, as you can see in the pictures, the room itself has a generous yet cozy feel and both the bed and tub are positioned in such a way to offer full privacy. A half-bath is in the hallway separating the two bedrooms. The second bedroom was furnished with our kids in mind. It has a low ceiling, but is extra wide handling two twin beds which are very comfortable for adults. The downstairs is a walkout at lake level, featuring a very spacious living/family room with a colorful and comfortable sitting area (original Chicklet chairs from the 1970s) and plenty of space for playing. Here, you can again enjoy viewing the lake and socializing. The bedroom on this level has a queen bed and large closet. The full bath with shower is modern and a generous size. The lower level is perfect for a family as well, and we have at your disposal additional queen or twin air mattress for extra sleeping arrangements. Our cast iron fire pit, which is situated right on our private beach, is a year-around indulgence. Sit on the benches, break out some marshmallows and enjoy a camp fire any time of year.

  • Our stay was spectacular. Tons of kids’ toys. The pond was mostly frozen so we got to enjoy the scenery. Also we used the sleds in the garage to go down the hill at the door. The loft can be cold in winter but a space heater was provided. Quick communication and the host checked in with us regularly. This house is great for all seasons and Otis is nice and quiet. We will definitely return.

  • This was a perfect spot for a cozy family getaway. Plenty of space in the apartment and the pictures do NOT do justice to the stunning lake views. Great spot for any time of year!

  • We were in love with this place. So much so that we asked to stay an extra day. My boys loved playing outside and in the water. We enjoyed taking the boats out into the lake. The house had everything you would need for traveling with children. The views were amazing. Waking up to the sunrise and set over the lake was a wonderful way to start the day. An easy getaway from the city where you can disconnect and relax with your family in nature. We will be back.

Our guest suite overlooks our great room. It has two private bedrooms. They share a full bath and sitting area, a sliding door serves a balcony furnished with a patio table and chairs. A small refrigerator, Keurig, and drop-leaf table are indoors. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen-size real bed that has a deep, firm foam mattress.
Our two, second-floor guest rooms share a full tub-and-shower bath, access to the balcony and airy sitting room overlooking the great room of our home. Across the great room is a south-facing wall of windows which raises the temperature of the whole area on sunny days. Two rocking chairs, a sofa and a drop-leaf table and chairs furnish the sitting room, besides the small refrigerator-freezer. There is a slider to the balcony with table and chairs. It faces east across the woods that surround our recently-built home. In early-morning light, the sun sparkles off Little Robin Lake, through the leaves across the road. Each of the two guest rooms is rented separately. Each room has a comfortable queen-size real bed with deep, firm foam mattress. This one is a four-poster bed. There is a diner /convenience stores within 1 mile of our place. Another is on the edge of N. Becket about 5 miles north on Rt. 8 north from our place. Both serve very good, reasonably priced breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Becket and Lee have a wide variety of restaurants from casual counter seating to fine dining. Lee has quite a variety, including international restaurants (from Pizza to top-rate Indian food) at varied price-points. Our home is in a private community of hard-packed dirt roads, heavily wooded, 2nd-growth forest, and varied homes of charmingly individual styles and sizes. Our mixed-breed dog is very friendly once she's "told" newcomers that she's the watcher-of-the-door. We're only 3 miles east of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival which offers a summer season of performances by varied and internationally known dance companies. There are year-round live theater and music performances within half-an-hour of our place at several venues. There are downhill ski areas about a half-hour's drive and a cross-country ski place five miles from here.
We really are located in the woods. The roads are well-maintained hard packed dirt roads. Besides occasional sounds from the nearby road, the noises come from crickets, frogs, birds and the weather. We're less than a mile's drive from the major road nearby, though. Temperatures in summer tend to be approx. 10 degrees lower than larger cities several miles away; winter tends to be colder by a few degrees.
  • Great place and great host. Very personable and a cute place to spend the night.

  • We had a lovely stay, Bruce and his wife were lovely hosts. Their pet dog is amazingly welcoming and a real asset to the stay ☺️. The house was lovely and warm, and we were allowed to take our own tv which was a great advantage. Internet wasn’t always the best, but we didn’t go there to surf the web, so wasn’t a major issue to us. The environment was delightful, very picturesque especially with the snow. There was enough crockery etc for the 2 of us, and we made use of the large fridge, microwave and toaster. The shower was easy to work and lovely and warm. Bed was a good size, and there was a futon type sofa in the living space. The apartment smelt nice and fresh, and was as clean as I would have expected. Would definitely stay again.

  • Beautiful location with plenty of inspiring places to hike and explore! And cozy and rustic accommodations. I had a very peaceful and restorative time.

  • Very comfortable, cozy accommodations in a vey beautiful location. Bruce and his wife were very friendly and helpful. The kitchenette was a great benefit and they were kind enough to put a larger fridge in the unit, since we would be there an entire week. Would definitely stay again. :)

  • What a wonderful place to stay! We spent a weekend at Moss Hill Farm while in Massachusetts for a dear friends wedding - you just can't beat the value! The apartment has the perfect amount of space in a fabulous location off the beaten path! Quiet and peaceful with spectacular views and room to roam! Bruce & Mel were gracious and accommodating. We're already talking about when we should return!

    Amy2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, quiet and beautiful. Bruce was very accommodating.

  • What a great place to spend time away from home! We enjoyed a weekend get away and it was nothing but good times!

  • Beautiful location , friendly hosts, fast and easy communications. Very special property with hiking trails & wildlife.

    Alicia2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable, spacious, rustic, private, quiet, warm, had everything we needed. The views are breathtaking. There are easy hikes from the annex. The value is unbeatable: plenty of room, a private bathroom, living room, and kitchenette and everything we needed. If you are looking for an escape from the city this is the place: mountains, woods, streams, waterfalls, horses, and peace and quiet. But what we appreciated most was how welcomed we felt. Bruce and Melissa are wonderful people and we look forward to visiting again.

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do not allow pets, we will consider requests to allow 1 small pet with prior approval and acceptance of rules and policies. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • This place is just magical. We stayed one night and from the moment we arrived at the property, we were mesmerized by its beauty, unique architecture, beautiful grounds, and overall sense of bliss, peace, and good energy. The silo studio is so romantic, so lovely and cozy. The space is heated, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is great, everything about it is just A++++ Worth every penny! Do it! You won’t regret it!

  • Jane's house has a unique feature in terms of its architectural designing. Three major bedrooms on the second floor are built like tree houses within house. Three bedroom windows are facing toward three large glass windows in the living room, so living room functions as indoor courtyard with its huge vaulted ceiling and ample space. Our kids kept playing tag and they had supreme fun exploring the house. We all enjoyed staying at her airbnb and one extra bedroom downstairs provided enough space for us to have a comfortable sleep. Jane was so easy to communicate with and kind enough to meet us in person when we arrived. Location was supreme as well for our ski trip. Also, nearby local shops and restaurants/coffee shops in Great Barrington area are must-visit.

  • Jane's house was lovely. We had a really great time staying in her home. Everything in the description was accurate and the pictures dont even do it justice. I highly recommend staying in Jane's home if you want to get away for the weekend.

  • We had a lovely weekend in Jane's beautiful house. The common spaces are large and light filled with beautiful views out to the neighboring wooded areas and creek. I would highly recommend this listing. Jane was quick with communication and helpful while booking and staying.

  • It was a great stay. We went skiing at Butternut and it was very close. The beds were very comfortable and the free breakfast was wonderful. Pack a bathing suit because The Red Lion Inn owns the motel and you will have access to the heated year round outdoor pool and hot tub at that facility in Stockbridge. I wish I had known that.

  • This is a great place, and it is just as pictured. We stayed there in November, and it was snowy and foggy the entire time. But this is a cozy and comfortable little home no matter what the weather may be. The view of the snow coming down on the lake was lovely. The kitchen works well, the beds and furniture are comfortable, and Theresa was very responsive when we needed her. We were very happy! Thanks so much.

    Eleanor2018-11-20T00:00:00Z

  • This is a great cottage on a quiet lake. It’s true New England Forrest living. The cabin has a lot of room. We loved not having cable, so we enjoyed the radio and played games. Our cell phone service was great. The book with things to do in the area was helpful.

    Adam & Jenny2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • To say that this has been our favorite airbnb experience is a HUGE understatement. Chester itself is an incredibly charming, history rich town. Denis and Lynn's cottage is not only comfortable, clean and just as charming - every aspect of our stay was thoughtfully considered and more than exceeded! From the local recommendations to the handy trail maps, snacks, and all the kitchen and bathroom amenities - you really know that these are excellent hosts who care about their guests. Communication was excellent. My fiance and I have now stayed here twice (The ONLY rental we have ever been so tempted back to) and I must say - everything from doing paperwork (regrettably good cell coverage) to cooking a meal (full kitchen with every utensil you've forgotten at home), to playing board games and enjoying each other's company was just made so magical by staying here! When we stayed here earlier in the season for the holidays the decorations were so nice and personal. Do yourself a favor and just skip any other options in the area. These are the best hosts with the nicest property in town. We will be back so reserve a spot before we get it first! :)

    Thomas2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great one night stay. The town is charming. The place is situated right over a creek which is beautiful. General store feet away for convenience. The place is cozy and has everything need. Would definitely stay again.

  • Adorable cottage with the a serene babbling brook behind it. There’s no TV, but that’s not a bad thing — plus Denis has an outstanding vinyl collection and stereo with record player. There’s a market right next door with every amenity you could need, and you’ll meet the most friendly locals there as well. Will definitely be back!

This is going to be the perfect ski house. I just bought it recently and have plans to make many improvements such as a bigger deck with a 7 person hot-tub and a finished basement. The hot-tub should be in by spring-time. For now, it is very comfortable and works well as a place to stay and relax if you want to ski Otis Ridge (you can walk to the Acorn trail). You can also get to both Butternut and Blandford in less than 25 minutes. Until the hot-tub goes in, I'm keeping the rates low.
The house is perfectly situated for your Berkshires getaway. Lots of outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and of course, skiing. You are almost slope-side. In fact, the backyard used to be one of the slopes at Otis Ridge Ski area. If the snowpack is good, it is theoretically possible (but not advisable unless you are an expert, to ski from the house to the lifts at Otis). Otis Ridge is a throwback ski area to the way New England ski areas used to be. Great for families and experts alike. Great variety of interesting terrain including a ton of glades when the snow-pack is deep enough. You won't have to worry about losing family members because everything funnels back to the base lodge. In my opinion (and I've skied just about everywhere in this country and some places in the Alps), Otis Ridge is easily the best ski area south of the Vermont border. It's like they took a little slice out of Mad River Glen or Magic Mountain and put it in the Berkshires.
Otis Ridge Ski Area is hands-down the best ski area south of the Vermont border. I've skied in the Alps and Alaska, grew up skiing Vermont, and lived in Lake Tahoe and the foot of Mt. Hood, and I would still rather be at Otis Ridge on a powder day. It's a great place to bring a family because you can park close to the slopes and your kids will always ski past the ski lodge every 10 minutes or so, but there is also challenging terrain, especially in the "unofficial" glades. I've had a season pass here for the last 9 years and my kids learned to ski here. It's a small slice of a much bigger mountain.

The suite is a good-sized room, originally the "back house" in our 1900 farmhouse. It is paneled in pine. It has antique furnishings, full -size bed, a bar sink and refrigerator for convenience. Small private bath. Close to so much! 1/2 hour from most Berkshire attractions. 10 minutes to Jacob's Pillow, Chester Theater. This room is quiet and private. Located on the first floor in a spacious farmhouse. A few steps to enter private entrance. Full size bed, small private bath. Bar sink and refrigerator. Electric heat if needed. No a.c.... fan and shade trees usually keep it comfortable in the summer.
Our 30 acre farm with horses, poultry and gardens, is located on a dead end road abutting Becket Land Trust's 300 acre Historic Quarry and Forest. Open field and orchard surrounded by woods. Wildlife. A few neighbors including a farm stand with fresh produce and baked goods!

  • We loved our stay here. It was heaven to fall asleep to the sound of crickets and awaking to the sound of neighing horses. A beautiful getaway spot in sweet farmhouse. Donna and her husband are so kind and their property is gorgeous. The check-in process was easy; She was flexible enough that we were able to get there early and drop off our stuff before the wedding we attended in the area. They even offered us freshly brewed coffee in their kitchen space in the morning. Would definitely return again!

  • Larry was easily one of the top hosts I've stayed with through AirBnB. He communicated aspects of the stay appropriately and made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable family weekend away. The house itself was incredible with every amenity you could ask for. Everything was well stocked for us to cook meals. Game room with pool table for activities, and the hot tub/sauna for relaxation. Perfect weekend!

  • Larry's home was much better than advertised! The hot tub was warm when we arrived, the amenities were great, we loved the kitchen and plenty of bathrooms for a large group! I would definitely stay here again

  • Larry has a great house! We had a group of 8 adults and it was plenty of room for everyone. The pictures don't do it justice. It's a beautiful cabin, very quiet and a great place to relax. We had a great time in the downstairs playing pool, and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed to make breakfast and relax at night. Larry was so on top of things, making sure we were warned about some ice near the entrance and answering any questions we had promptly. We could not have enjoyed our weekend more!

  • Larry was the perfect host! His place is amazing. We enjoyed everything. He not only has all of the items/amenities that he has listed but he has little things. One of my friends forgot her razor and he had extras. The beds are comfy, the hot tub was wonderful and the kitchen has EVERYTHING you need. I really can't say enough about this place. We will be back!! If you are on the fence about renting this place, don't be, just book it! You will NOT regret it!

  • I had a reunion with old friends in this extremely spacious, extremely comfortable, and extremely gorgeous cabin home. Large kitchen area; large patio; large, open dining and living room area; a room downstairs with a pool table and foosball... there's a hot tub outside too! Really nice bathrooms. Plenty of bedrooms. The home was immaculate. Wonderful for groups. What more could you want? This is a real gem, tucked away in what feels like a private, rustic corner of the Berkshires. I would like to thank Larry for being so kind, welcoming, helpful, and generous. We wish we could've stayed much longer!
