Places to stay in Pontesbury
Quarry View is a quirky, comfortable property nestled in the woods in Pontesbury. Comfortably sleeping 2 with the option of a travel cot/camp bed for a child if needed. Really quiet location but within a half hour drive of some lovely Shropshire towns and ideal for walkers. We provide everything you need for a comfortable stay, including basic breakfast items and logs for the log burner. We are happy to provide info about the area and as we live next door, we are easily contactable if needed
Dog friendly accommodation. wifi. Log burner with logs provided. Beautifully decorated and extras provided to make your stay extra special, such as a welcome pack including bread, local preserves, cereal, milk, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Information books about the local area/walks provided for your use during your stay. Large selections of DVD's for your use. Books also provided - any novels that aren't labelled are available to be taken away if you start reading and haven't finished by the time you leave! Little outside seating area and chimenea for your use. Guests are also welcome to use the quarry area opposite the property. It's a very quiet area and includes a steep path which you can take up to the top of the quarry - ideal for anyone who enjoys nature/wildlife, but is very rough ground and is only to be used at guests own risk.
Pontesbury is a lovely village - small but with several takeaway and eat in restaurants, shops, chemist, bakery/greengrocer and some really gorgeous walks. We are very close (about 15/20 min drive) to Shrewsbury Town which is a really lovely, thriving market town with some fantastic history and a huge amount of eating places. Also nearby are the historic towns of Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Bishop's Castle and Church Stretton to name just a few. We also have several cinemas within a half hour drive, as well as a theatre and live music venues.
  • Had a fantastic one night stay at Quarry View with my partner and my dog. Pippa was a great host, very helpful and quick to respond to queries. The cottage is lovely, very homely and comes equipped with everything you might need, including tea, coffee and some breakfast provisions (bread, butter, granola), which was a nice touch. There are some amazing walks you can go on right from the doorstep, so no need to drive anywhere once you arrive. We'd be more than happy to stay at Quarry View again! Thank you for a very pleasant weekend 😊

  • Quarry View is one of the loveliest places that I've stayed in. The decor throughout is utterly gorgeous, with wonderful pictures and paintings on the walls. Really liked all of it, and could quite easily have moved in for good! Everything you could possibly need has been thought of, the kitchen area is great and we cooked both nights we stayed and there was every utensil you could possibly need. Just really thoughtful touches from Pippa like a loaf of bread, a pint of milk, some butter and cereal left for us, made the stay even more special. The wood burner in the lounge makes it extremely cosy, and the sofa is really comfortable. The WiFi is super quick, which was great. The bed is extremely comfortable, with lovely cotton bedding. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and hope to go back one day in the not too distant future. Thanks for everything, Pippa!

  • Very lovely little hideaway, not to far from Shrewsbury will recommend to friends.

    Adam2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was such good value - Pippa and family have decorated the place in a lovely style and there were lots of little touches that added luxury to the stay. The house was built by her husband and must be well built because for a small annex it stayed really warm all night in cold weather without us needing to put the electric heater on past evening. There are plenty of walks to do straight from the front door and it is a lovely secluded spot surrounded by trees and hills.

    Zoe2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the attention to detail

    Bianca2020-01-25T00:00:00Z

    Charles2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely little place to stay. Pippa was so quick getting back to us after initial contact. The decor was original and beautiful with high quality fixtures and fittings. The little extras really made us feel welcome; butter, granola, milk, a few eggs - thank you.

  • Judie is a lovely host, the house is great, as are all the finishing touches, just sorry i didn't have time to try out the fabulous bath. The room was lovely and cosy, with tea making facilities, and breakfast included. Two cute little doggies as well.

  • Beautiful clean house, lovely area, would stay again next time we are in the area

    Angelina2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Judie is very welcoming and helpful. Judie and Steve's house is beautifully appointed with a high end finish all round. The room looks on to the road but gives you access to your own 2 bathrooms, including a luxurious bath. The location is beautiful (the house and grounds are very attractive but on the main road) with access to walks nearby

  • A.perfect host in a luxury home! Everything about this stay was 5*, Judie and her husband are super friendly, but also left us to our own devices. The bed was super comfortable, the huge bath was to die for! A long soak ensued! We also had a separate shower room at our disposal. Beautifully clean with lots of thoughtful touches, teas, coffee, biscuits, hairdryer, places of interest, everything was.provided for. Added to this the pub across the road does a mean roast dinner too! Highly recommended for a lovely luxury stay at a very affordable price, I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you both for your hospitality, I hope we can return one day!

  • Amazing room and amazing hosts. So lovely and accommodating, so helpful and quick to respond. Both Judie and Steve are lovely people. There is a cafetière and kettle in the bedroom with large selection of teas and proper ground coffee. The bed is so comfortable, the views gorgeous, the location perfect and the hosts amazing. The room was lovely and warm, couldn’t hear any noise in or out of the room and the private bathroom was outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone.

  • I love staying at Kathryn's. The flat is beautiful and in stunning surroundings. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

    Chris2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy apartment, that has everything you need for a short break. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and cupboard basics such as oils and seasoning. Good location, 10/15 minutes from Shrewsbury and a short walk up the road is a nice pub where we ate at one evening. Don't follow the postcode, just use the directions Kathryn will send to you once you get to the village. I ended up outside a random farm house before stopping to read the email properly! Also, there are a few birds roaming around the grounds during the day time most of them are friendly and not interested in you at all but there was one that liked to chase us from the car to the apartment, haha! Overall a great stay.

  • Ideal place for us. It was away from all the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to local amenities that we could walk to a shop or pub. The place itself had everything we needed, cooking facilities, lovely shower and central heating at whatever our desired temperature was... which is great when you have been out in the cold all day... We had a great stay here. Thanks for making us so welcome, Miles. Take care. Wayne

  • Very highly recommended, very spacious townhouse-like annex on two floors. Delightful villages surrounding this location, with points of interest nearby as well as a little further afield, to vary time spent there. We enjoyed the stylish aspects to this immaculately clean space, as well as the comfort available to rest, spread out in the amazingly sized living area, or sitting on the sofa in the upstairs bedroom. Lovely thoughtful hosts answered all our queries straight away. Not least, great off-street parking.

  • Quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly AKA perfect - Beth's place is a great spot to stay if you want that 'Home from Home' experience. Shrewsbury has lots of quality options for food/drink and is about an hour away from Snowdonia for all manner of outdoor activities - hiking, in my case. I'll be checking again to see if there's a spot open next time I'm off into the hills.

Welcome to No. 16! The cottage is comfortable and homely inside...and we're pleased to tell you our shabby porch has been totally rebuilt! (hurrah!) and painted (hurrah!) It's somewhere you can put wet coats and leave muddy boots, then go into the kitchen for a cup of tea. You'll find all you need for your stay, including teas, coffee, bread, butter, jam and cereals. There's a Calor gas range cooker, a microwave, pots, pans, cutlery and stuff too.
This is a beautifully restored mining cottage in the south Shropshire hills. There's a lovely garden, and loads to explore around the area. We are trying to work towards being as green as possible, and trying to cut back on single use plastic, but as we've bought some things in bulk (bin bags and suchlike) we're not there yet. The milk comes in glass bottles from a local dairy, it's organic and not homogenised, so shake the bottle or use the top of the milk on your cereal. Please don't dispose of the bottle or the cap. We are able to refill them at Hignett's in Pontesbury. The butter we provide is organic, too. Marmalade and jam are home made ( the jam is usually made with fruit from the garden - but I've not been able to grow Seville oranges...) We will keep trying to improve on our carbon footprint!
Snailbeach was a lead mining village. Work ceased in the mid sixties, and since then the Shropshire Mines Trust have been taking care of the buildings that still stand and offer occasional trips down the mines. Just up the hill from us is Hollywood...a grove of holly trees which are in the region of 400 years old. Carry on walking and you'll reach the Stiperstones...a quartzite ridge 480 million years old. It's really amazing round here...
  • Genevieve is an amazing host! The cottage is beautiful, super cosy and spotlessly clean. It is perfectly located for some breathtaking walks and Genevieve was more than happy to give us tips on the best places to eat locally. I came away feeling very relaxed and I've discovered some new music to listen to after exploring the vast CD collection in the cottage. I can't wait to go back.

The cottage was warm & cosy with bread and muffins left for us to enjoy during our stay, as well as a great selection of tea, coffee and a large bottle of milk. The location is great for Shrewsbury and the surrounding countryside and definitely makes for a quiet weekend away. Would recommend.

  • I arrived very late but this was not a problem. Jo was able to communicate well and accommodate me. Nigel greeted me and made a lovely cuppa. He was engaging but not intrusive. I felt very comfortable. Bed very comfy and everything was clean. a lovely stay.

  • I really enjoyed my time at Jovs place. I'm doing a charity walk from Belfast to Santiago de Compostela. Jo's house was a brilliant place to relax and rest up for the evening. I was offered Tea/coffee and a sandwich when I got in. Then a bath, which I took her up on as the legs were fairly hurting me. The bedroom was spacious, the bed comfy and her whole house a lovely vibe. In the morning I was offered an array of things for breakfast. I highly recommend staying at Jo's!

    Kim2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The location is ideal for the town centre so you can pop back easily and only steps away from shops and restaurants. The flat is up several outside steps and a staircase but it is worth it for the rooftop view and peace from any street level noise. The flat is recently renovated to a high standard and well equipped. Highly recommended.

Ruth's Retreat is an authentic Scandinavian Log Cabin in a beautiful spot surrounded by the South Shropshire countryside and you have your own private hot tub. The cabin has a large kitchen with deep freeze, fridge, washing machine, cooker and hob, dishwasher and all the equipment required. There are two bedrooms, one with views of the hills, the other with a garden view. Smart TV, Blu ray player and free Wifi. Central heating.
There is a garden area and decking area with hot tub and a covered barbecue all very private and fenced off.
The Log cabin is situated in a quiet location overlooking the Shropshire Hills and countryside. It is a 5 minute drive from the A49 where there is access to shops and amenities . There are also local stores in the closer vicinity. I do have two take-a-ways that deliver here. We are situated on the Shropshire Way and Lyth Hill, a local landmark is good for walking.
  • We absolutely loved Ruth’s retreat. It’s even more beautiful than the photos and the hot tub was gorgeous. Ruth is a real sweetie and we loved every minute! Thank you Ruth!

Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's also plenty to read and lots of interesting CDs to play if you prefer.
Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of books, and a wall of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music and read the books but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier.
Snailbeach is small lead mining village in the heart of the South Shropshire hills. The miners have long since left, but the Victorian buildings still stand and are looked after by the Shropshire Mines Trust. From Snailbeach you can explore the Stiperstones, try some splendid real ale in Bishop's Castle or visit Shrewsbury's shops. Or you can throw caution to the winds and go mountain biking. Bring your own bike! Shropshire is such a beautiful place it's hard to know where to start describing the best bits. Come to stay, tell us what you like best and we'll point you in the right direction. Do try to visit our local pub while you're staying, it's great. You'll find some leaflets about the local area and a very fine book written by a local chap detailing walks all over the county. Check out Elsie's walk...she was the village post lady and her daughter lives just across the road. If you're into knitting, there's a Knit'nNatter at the pub on a Tuesday morning (with cake) and some fantastic guerrilla knitting in Bishop's Castle. And there's also a very good Morris dance team there too...
  • We came to stay for one night and couldn't have loved it more. We'll definitely be back again in the future! Genevieve and Allan are wonderful hosts. All of the incredibly thoughtful little touches made our stay so special. There was fresh milk, bread and blueberry muffins awaiting us, as well as home made marmalade! They gave us very helpful directions to the property prior to our booking and were fantastic communicators on our day of arrival. The property is right next to a Roman mine which makes this place super unique and interesting. There's wonderful walks right on your doorstep and the scenery is stunning! We ventured on a few hours long walk to the stiperstones which are incredible! Unbelievable views! We are so thankful to our hosts for all of their suggestions, tips on things to do and their thoughtfulness.

    Sophie2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I loved our stay with our dog in the very cosy and homely chalet that has lots of character. Our hosts Genevieve and Alan made us very welcome and the directions were detailed, accurate and easy to follow. Modern shower room and a kitchen that had all the essentials. The cereals, muffins, fresh bread and tea and coffee provided were excellent and attention to detail was paid through the chalet. A few thousand interesting and sometimes obscure cds kept us amused for some hours in the chilled environment and next time we stay here we're hoping to spend the evenings outside under the lanterns with the cats and chickens for company. Overall a great stay in every way. Can't wait to return.

    Ellen2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Genevieve’s place was great! Full of charm and well located for hiking and walking through the beautiful surroundings! Allan was very helpful and friendly! We definitely recommend!

    Jose2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique, quirky place to say with so many homely and thoughtful touches to welcome you. Astounding scenery in the local area... you can walk up to the Stiperstones literally within a stones throw of the cabin. Hosts provide a wealth of information and their advice is worth heeding to particularly pub recommendations for food and eats. Somewhat chilly in these early months of the year but we can imagine pure bliss in the long summer evenings. A hot water bottle, lots of blankets as well as furry feline friend's and an epic cd collection are a recipe to keep you warm though! Candle lanterns in the trees appeared at the end of each day when we arrived back after our evening meal too!! A home from home! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

    Lucy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying in an airbnb and I think the bar has been set high for future stays! When we arrived we were upgraded to the cottage which was absolutely lovely. It was very homely and had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh milk, bread and muffins. We had a great time walking up long mynd and exploring the old mines. It made my partner's birthday very special! Thank you Genevieve and Allan :)

    Lily2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a night at this lovely chalet, what a hidden gem! Amazing host, lovely atmosphere, incredibly cute cats, very hospitable and all around warm and welcoming environment! 100% would recommend. My place is close to the town centre, railway station and bus station. You’ll love my place because of the large comfy bed, you have your own space and it's great value. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers. See our other listings - we also have a single bed and a double bed in our house listed on Airbnb, so can accommodate larger groups.
This is a 2 berth touring caravan which is parked in the front garden of our house. It has a large and comfortable double bed, wardrobe and cupboard space and cooking facilities in the form of a microwave and hob. There is heating and electric lighting, a kettle and toaster. There is a chemical toilet, for night time emergencies, and guests are welcome to use the bathroom, shower and toilet in the house. There is wireless fibre broadband available to guests at no extra charge. There is off road parking in the driveway. The house stands near a main road, so guests must be aware that there is some traffic noise, especially in the morning. This is not the Ritz, so is relatively basic accommodation, however this is reflected in the price.
The house is about 20 minutes walk from the town centre, 15 minutes walk from the station, and on a regular bus route to both. There is the Dolphin Inn, a great local pub, about 5 minutes walk away, where they serve real ales and a good range of food. There is a corner shop (One Stop) about 5 minutes away, a Tesco Express about 8 minutes away and a large supermarket (Morrisons) about 15 - 20 minutes on foot. We are also within a 5 minute walk of three Chinese takeaways, an Indian takeaway, a chip shop & a Pizza Hut takeaway. We are also very close to Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, the first iron framed building in the world. This has a Visitors Centre, which is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm from March to October. It's well worth a visit!
  • Good value for money. Easy going and free. Close enough to walk to town in ten to fifteen minutes. Private caravan is cool. If you are sensitive to traffic be aware it is on main road. Didn't bother me too much though.

    Neil2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what it says on the tin. Cosy little space in the front garden. I was there during the worst storms and in years. So it was noisy at times which is completely to be expected but was always, warm dry and cosy. A pleasant week’s stay in a quirky vintage caravan. Richard explain everything in a v friendly manner and was always at hand even though I didn’t really need it! would definitely stay again if visiting Shrewsbury again!

  • Great value and great hosts

    Jan2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was a very welcoming and accommodating, even when I turned up later than I anticipated. The caravan is what it is, but is very clean and warm, toilet facilities are ok, I didn’t make use of the facilities in Richards home so can’t comment on these. But I would definitely use Richard’s place again.

  • Tucked away from the road, the place is very quite and peaceful. With a high standard of furnishings and fittings and many thoughtful touches, it was an absolute pleasure to stay at the loft. I would love to visit again in the summer and take the time to explore the surrounding countryside, but even in the middle of winter it was perfect. Highly recommend.

  • Beautiful property in a very quiet countryside location. Had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Vicky met me on arrival and was extremely welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be interested.

  • A comfortable, clean and homely space with everything that was needed for a two night stay, just a shame that we couldn't have stayed for longer! If you're looking for peace and quiet and somewhere to chill out then I would highly recommend Vicky's place! Look forward to visiting in the summer!

  • The Loft is a cosy little bolt hole where you can unwind and relax. Everything you could need is provided and Vicky and Neil were perfect hosts.

    Jo2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is of the highest quality! You will have everything you need for a comfortable stay. You are surrounded by stunning countryside but only a short drive/bike ride or walk from lots of great places. We booked as our friends were getting married at Rowton Castle, we can recommend if you are in the same position as its great for that venue distance wise. We loved the extra touches like the welcome goodies and the bed is super comfortable.

    Joanna2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is very cosy with all the amenities you need for a restful break. There is ample parking and the grounds are simply stunning. The property was very clean with special touches as bread, eggs and milk. Vicky and her family were all very welcoming hosts which made for a perfect stay. Would definitely recommend and happily return!

My place is close to the town centre, railway station and bus station. You’ll love my place because of the large comfy bed, you have your own space and it's great value. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business traveller. See our other listings - we also have a double bed in the house and a second in a caravan listed on Airbnb, so can accommodate larger groups.
This is a single bedroom on the first floor of our private house. It has a comfortable bed, wardrobe and cupboard space and cooking facilities in the shared kitchen downstairs. There is heating and electric lighting and a kettle with tea & coffee provided. Guests are welcome to use the bathroom, shower and toilet in the house. There is wireless fibre broadband available to guests at no extra charge. There is off road parking in the driveway. The house stands near a main road, so guests must be aware that there is some traffic noise, especially in the morning.
Richard’s home is located in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom. The house is about 20 minutes walk from the town centre, 15 minutes walk from the station, and on a regular bus route to both. There is the Dolphin Inn, a great local pub, about 5 minutes walk away, where they serve real ales and a good range of food and have occasional music nights.

  • Situated in a quiet village, this is somewhere you can guarantee a peaceful night's sleep. Ample off road parking and an attractive courtyard garden welcome you to the annex, part of a barn conversion that is rustic and very well presented. I was met at the door and shown round and given a key. The annex itself is small and cosy and perfectly adequate for 1 or 2 people. The kitchen has all the basic equipment for cooking meals, and no complaints with the TV or WiFi. Upstairs the bed is firm and comfortable, the room is cosy and very pleasant. Communications were great and Jill was very friendly.

    Liv2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful, spotlessly clean and is the perfect getaway for a couple of nights. It's perfect for a bit of sightseeing or just a few days of peace and quiet. The hosts have thought of everything even down to the toilets being heated, which was greatly appreciated on a cold October night. I 100% recommend that you give this place a go as you won't regret it!!

    Leoni2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a fabulous stay at the Welsh Border Glamping's pods. The pods and amenities are beautifully well presented - very clean too! The ability to make hot drinks in the cabin was lovely and having the makings for tea and biscuits from the get go was a luxury - very nice touch, as was having a log ready for the fire-pit. We cannot fault the establishment and we'd definitely recommend the pods to our friends in the future. The bathrooms and the kitchen were sparkling clean and lovely to get back to after our very soggy walk.

    Gemma2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • No photos could accurately describe just how cosy staying in the pods felt, a great experience! Small, yet bigger than you think. Made a nice change from the usual BnBs and a very tranquil site. Very clean, the host even left some snacks, a log for the fire and brew kit for us. Very thoughtful, scenic and snug. Would recommend.

    Hywyn2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly what we will say is wow. Right from the moment we pulled up to welsh border glamping my boyfriend and I have been nothing but impressed. Neville and Helen went over and above from the onset. When enquiring to book, my message was responded to within 20 minutes and the night before, we received their personal mobile numbers to call on arrival and throughout the weekend if we needed anything. We were due to arrive a little early but to our surprise the Pod was ready and waiting. I called Helen on arrival and got the warmest welcome and felt at home at once. She gave us a tour around the facilities and showed us to our pod, in which we had a packet of biscuits, a pint of milk, a bag of crisps, a log for the fire pit and a welcome pack waiting for us as well as a spotless and beautiful pod. The shared facilities were spotless and beautiful too with everything we needed and more and they were incredibly spacious. Whenever we crossed paths with either Helen or Neville they always stopped for a chat to hear what we were getting up to. On one occasion I couldn’t find something in the kitchen so texted Helen to ask where it was and a few minutes later she was at our pod door with it in her hand!!! I highly recommend this to anybody as extreme value for money and a little touch of luxury which is much unexpected when glamping. The only thing I could fault is having nowhere to store clothes etc. like a cupboard or something but that is seriously all we could pick holes in. Thank you so much for a phenomenal weekend Helen and Neville, your hospitality was amazing! Best wishes Morgan and Jacob

  • On the outside this looks like a shed, you enter and youre in the most cosiest of spaces. Everything you would want is there, and the large bed was comfy and warm. There are lots of extra pillows, blankets, hot water bottles and slippers. It’s a little like the tardis, a little bigger than you’d expect. My hubby and I are over 6 foot and we were more than happy with the space. It’s clean and amazing value for money. I loved the hot water bottles too, and lying in bed at night, I adored the pitter patter of the rain. Sally is a lovely lady, who has a great sense of humour and was very informative too about the local area. She gave us a lovely restaurant recommendation. It was very kind of her to leave tea, milk, coffee, cereals, butter and jam too. We didn’t use all of it as we had supplies, but was not expecting it. We certainly heard a cat walking over the roof, but it kept elusive during our stay. If Staying In the area, and wanting great value for money, I’d say give this is a try. Bring a flash light for evenings, and be careful when driving to the house-lots of squirrels and birds like to walk in front of you! (Thankyou Sally) xx

We came again while visiting Shrewsbury and were so glad our paths crossed this time as we so enjoyed chatting to her and felt totally at ease in her home. This charming little terrace house , is situated on the banks of the river Severn loop, which is only a few minutes walk from the beautiful town centre of Shrewsbury. I recently redecorated, creating a home from home feel sharing some of my art and pieces from our travels around the world. Coleham has a village feel, which is well catered with local cafe's, butchers, pubs and a convenience store all 100 yards away. I live next door and am available should you need any help during your stay.
the 'Annex' (home) has two bedrooms and bathrooms (one shower, one bath) and a comfortable lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to self cater. We have built a small deck that you access through the rear french doors and enjoy an impeded river view.
Our favourite coffee shop is called House which does great food and coffee, run by some neighbours. There is selection of pubs with Cross Foxes being a classic local pub.
  • Great location and really did feel like a home from home, lots of lovely touches, many books and lovely blankets to wrap up in, all the essentials in the fridge/kitchen. Very quiet and relaxing and literally minutes to walk into the town. We found a parking space in a crescent about a minute away and the area has a lovely village feel with a few shops and cafes and pub on the doorstep. Can’t fault it, will be back!

  • Great location near the main centre but still nice and quiet. The house is cosy with nice touches like games books and a stocked fridge.

    Joanna2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely compact house with all I needed: comfortable bed, good space to work, well-equipped kitchen and really thoughtful supplies in the fridge on arrival. And the view over the river first thing in the morning - beautiful.

  • I booked this place for my parents and since they've come home all they've talked about is how lovely and homely this place is! The view from their window was beautiful and only a short walk into the city centre. They really could not fault it and would love to go back and book The Annex again 😊

  • Lovely house, lovely view. Home from home. There's no coffee maker, no TV and no parking, which might be relevant to some people (in case you want to bring alternatives). The nearest shop is a Spar (so you might want to stop at a proper supermarket en route). The beds are very comfy, the living room is really cosy, the decor is tasteful, the river views are lush and the place is perfectly located for walking beside the river and into town.

  • We had an amazing time at the lake house! You can not see and appreciate the beauty of the property and the location until you get there. There is not even one thing we can complain about our weekend vacation. Lynne was amazing, she welcomed us at the property, navigated us and also lest us coffee/milk and fresh cake! I can't describe how clean was the property! Spotless! If you want a beautiful house on the lake, that is your place! Very quiet and relaxing place to be. Waking up in the morning all you hear is birds singing, and having your coffee outside watching the birds/ducks was just the best! Only an hour away from us, which would make this place our weekend holiday home from now on! Thank you again for the great hospitality. Martin

  • This is a lovely place to stay - you feel immediately calm. It's clean and spacious and well decorated. You feel isolated and like you're away from all the stress of the world. There's a real sense of homeliness and even though it's very much in the English countryside, you feel like you're on holiday abroad. The lake is beautiful and it was so nice watching the birds. Lynne left us tea and cake which was very tasty, and there is bath soak for a relaxing bath (may or may not have spent 3 hours in there). The bed is a big cosy cloud. We were desperate to stay another night and can't wait to come back!

  • The whole process of booking to stay was smooth. Lynne was very good at answering queries no matter how small they were. The location is fantastic and it is so private. The lake house itself was lovely and clean with all amenities you will need. We will be coming back again soon.

  • You'd make the best decision if you come and stay at Steph's house. It's the second time I am staying at her house and I am as happy as the first time. Even though she was away from home she was very active, so that's very nice and professional of her. I admit that the location is a bit far from town center (about 20-30 minutes by walk) but I did not really mind it as I love walking. So, thank you Steph :)
