    Paula2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to come!

    Ralph2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very welcoming and smelled wonderful. Communication was excellent. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of wash rags/towels and pillows. I was there on business so I didn’t utilize all aspects of the cabin like a typical visit but could not see anything that was needed that was not there. However, if you plan to sleep in and daylight bothers you, a sleep mask may be helpful as the blinds are thin. Thanks so much for allowing me to stay in your home!

  • Must go and Harry is great!

  • This is a perfect little romantic getaway. It’s a beautiful drive out and very peaceful and private. The property was great for playing with our dogs and the visits from Nikki’s pup. The goats were curious and provided entertainment while we rocked in the loveseat rockers on the patio and by the fire pit. Inside the cabin everything was exactly as described. The bathroom was immaculate and I had no hesitations about enjoying a nice long soak in the jacuzzi and indulged in long hot rainfall showers in the light of the fireplace. Everything about this place is romantic, the art, the facilities, the warm lighting. It was the kind of lighting they use in dressing rooms to flatter you into purchase. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and the little things you don’t want to buy a whole role of while on vacation. This place met and exceeded all of my expectations. It is perfect for a weekend away with someone you love or a self care retreat. I can’t wait to go back.

  • I've stayed at many AirBnBs, both in the US and internationally. This AirBnB was so lovely and ranks among the highest I've been to. It was charming, niche, and the perfect setting for a nice getaway. If you want a clean home, with great amenities, excellent communication from hosts, and beautiful interior- book this place! I'll be back!

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. If you are looking for quiet little getaway you have found it. Nikki was an amazing host. We felt at home the moment we arrived. Would definitely come back time and time again, I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when we are in the area.

  • Nikki’s place is the perfect getaway! It is incredibly relaxing here and a great scenic drive out to her place. Everything was how she described it to be, very clean, everything you might need in the kitchen, lovely space to visit

A one of a kind farmstead experience, stay in a newly constructed barn on our 500 acre dairy farm. The Mattingly farm is home to Kenny's Cheese, farmstead cheese made right here on our farm and you have a unique opportunity to stay in the heart of the action, in our brand new apartments directly above the dairy barn. You will be welcomed by our friendly dairy cows and possibly a new baby calf, or two. And because our cheese is AMAZING, we will leave some in the fridge for you to try.
*Must climb stairs – located on the 2nd floor *Apartment entrance houses an observation deck overlooking cows in the barn *View our new state of the art robot milkers *Might see a calf being born *Brand new fully furnished – new appliances, mattresses etc. *Locally made bars of soap left for each new guest *KFHC cheese in fridge *KFHC is directly next door so you could stroll over to view cheese making, samples *Beautiful country setting overlooking fields, cows grazing etc. *Take a hike on our 500 acre farm *Large shared outdoor deck *30 miles to Mammoth Cave *40 miles to Corvette Museum in Bowling Green *8 miles to Barren River State Resort Park *120 miles to Louisville (Home of Churchill Downs) *80 miles to Nashville, TN (Music City) *Wall mounted flat screen TV with cable access *Free wifi access Again, you are staying above a working dairy barn so don’t expect a quiet serene getaway. We have a second unit in this same barn that is a one bedroom/bath with a door that can open into both. Book both apartments to accommodate larger groups.
The nearest town is 15 miles away.
  • Country setting, southern hospitality, modern amenities and excellent cheese (sample or purchase).

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome space! We got to see a pregnant cow at night and brand new calf the next morning! Cute calves in their hutches and some fun farm cats roaming around. Very clean and spacious rooms. Milk and cheese samples were excellent! Observation deck and info about dairies was a great touch. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, fun stay!

    Sara2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The farm and surrounding area is very beautiful and in a nice, quiet location. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a couple of friendly cats and we knew it was going to be a lovely place to stay. The place was immaculate and very cozy and the cheese in the fridge was an appreciated touch! We highly recommend staying here!

    Emily2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the farm was excellent. Although we showed up after the normal shop business hours, Marissa was able to set us up with Cory, who showed us around where they make the cheese! Cory also let us bottle-feed the two week-old calves. They were so adorable and sweet. The apartment and barn were great with a nice view of the cows and the automatic milking machine. I would recommend to anyone looking for a chill farm experience. Also the cheese is amazing.

    Aspen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome and unique stay! I wish we could’ve stayed longer but we more than enjoyed our night on the farm.

    Thomas2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! Our only regret was that we didn't get to stay longer. Our kids loved being on the farm. It was truly a great escape for us. Cory and George were great about showing us around the farm and showing us how the cheese is made. This is such a special place. We are sure to come back again.

    Nadia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a serene place to stay with beautiful sunsets you will find it here. I loved seeing the cows everyday!

    April2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • We actually rented the apartment and the farmhouse for a holiday mini reunion of sorts. Family vacations are something the husband and I tried to make happen annually when our 4 were younger, but with both of us being military it was often difficult. Looking back, I had so much planned during the 4-5 days we were able to get away that we usually came back from the vacation more exhausted than ever. It stopped being fun for the kiddos. Now our children are all adults and having children themselves so time is even more precious when we are able to get together. I wanted us to just enjoy family. So I went online months ago and stumbled across the farmhouse first. My granddaughter is obsessed with animals and as soon as she heard Dairy Farm she was sold. As soon as I heard free cheese samples, I too knew this was going to be different in a good way. The apartment we stayed in “Be our guest” was very clean. The balcony was my favorite part. It is so relaxing to watch the animals. The location is pretty remote for this city girl, but we took the advice of another reviewed and stopped at the Walmart in Glasgow (25 min away) and stocked up. The apartment has the basics, standard dishes and regular coffeemaker and of course the amazing cheese samples. The family staying next to us The day before we checked out was super loud but once you’re in the bedroom and door shut you can’t hear much. Definitely can’t hear the business of the farm. And it is. I was so impressed with how hard they work but how obvious it is that they all love what they do. What makes this a 5 star rating? The people who run it and work the farm. The kindest, friendliest folks I’ve ever met. They LOVE sharing their farm and stories with you, love to tell you all about the animals and patiently answer the kids million and one questions they had, all with a smile. The location and ease of us older folks staying in the apartment 300 yards or so away but still being able to watch the grandkids from the balcony run over to us in the morning excited about the cows and kittens they got to pet the night before. We have been all over the world on vacations through the years - Germany, Florida, Disney, Eurodisney, multiple Aquariums, dozens of Zoos and more but when i asked every single one of my kids to name their favorite vacation, it was this one; the one where I planned nothing but where we all just hung out together in the peace and quiet and wonderful hospitality. Thank you To everyone at Kenny’s farm for making my 2019 family vacation so memorable. We will definitely be returning

Spring has definitely arrived! Feed the birds please! The deck is the perfect place to bet on what morsel a bird will choose. The bird book, food and feeding plate await. Brae Cabin is the perfect location for a romantic getaway. Secluded and warm with just the right amount of technology to be interesting. Just say, "Echo, Romance". The lights in the cabin change and the melody of romance begins. The trails around Brae and in the area beckon. Hiking! Hugh and Nancy welcome you!
The Cabin Experience During the summer, the deck offers a treehouse like view of the surrounding woods. Brae Cabin allows you to leave your worries behind. If you need to "check in" or want to relax and watch a movie, the cabin's high-speed fiber can help. The only clock in the cabin identifies the day of the week. You are on cabin time - embrace it!! What Brae Cabin lacks in "spit and polish," it makes up for in ambiance. It isn't perfect. The appliances are not the latest in fashion and yet they work great. The cabin is fully automated. You will be given an entry code for the front door. Instructions are provided on how to speak to Echo to do things like; Create a romantic lighting ambiance in the master bedroom, turn the deck red lighting on, play your favorite music, and start a laser light show directed at the cliffs. Saying "Echo, Goodbye" when you leave the cabin, automatically locks the door after three minutes, turns off the lights, and illuminates the walkway at night. Other commands such as Brighter, Romance, Play Music and TV match mood to ambiance. During the winter months, a fire place in the living room provides heat and a cozy fire. The wood stove in the sun porch provides another layer of warmth in the winter. Much more fun that saying, "Echo, set the temperature to 72 degrees" and having the heater come on. Cell phone service at the cabin is spotty at best. Cell phone Wifi calls can be made when connected to the internet. (If your phone has that feature.) The phone in the cabin has unlimited long distance calling and is used for making 911 calls. The TV is a Roku enabled TV. (Free TV shows and movies are available on the Roku channel). The cabin does not have cable or Dish TV. You are welcome to bring your Amazon, Netflix, Hulu or other service sign-on codes to watch streaming programs. An evening on the deck may include grilled delicacies and the libations of choice that you hauled up the stairs. A grill and wine rack are available. Night on the deck is special. The lights change to a soft red glow. The skies at Brae Cabin are dark. There is no town light pollution. On a clear night the stars awake. Be prepared for a visual feast. The soft red lights preserve your night vision. Depending on the time of year, you may get to see the fire flies. Thousands of nature's strobe lights put on a show for you or maybe their prospective mate. The Enchanted Forest is a favorite of guests. The forest transforms. Light into art, enchanting the forest. Nature awaits! Go outdoors and enjoy a walk. Hugh and Nancy own the land that surrounds Brae Cabin. Continue up the hill past the end of Dryden Ln towards the Mt. Cameron summit. Directions and trail maps are available. Do not try and get to the rock cliffs without speaking with Hugh or Nancy. The trail can be very steep. Rocks are not soft if you fall. The Cabin Tradition Many years ago a gentleman that owned the cabin started a tradition. He placed thick glass panes on the deck railing. Each day, he would put bird seed on the plates. The bird smorgasbord opened and the birds flocked to it. Join in the fun. Take a couple hand fulls and place the bird seed on the plates. All sorts of birds take advantage of the snacks. A book on Tennessee birds and binoculars are found inside. Play bird detective and have fun identifying them. Safety and Security. Each bedroom and the living room have an emergency flashlight The flashlight can be used as a night lite if you desire. A National Weather Service alert radio is in the living room. Bad weather can strike anywhere and Tennessee can see some big storms. Instructions are provided on how to get in the garage if shelter is needed. (and yes, it is a mess!) A first aid kit is also available. For Pilots Flying In Pilots are welcome to fly into Jackson County Airport (1A7). We'll take care of transportation issues. Don't do a normal landing pattern. Follow the river in from either the north or south. Your landings will be on the numbers rather than half way down the runway. Don't be surprised if you think an invasion is taking place. Every couple of weeks, Fort Campbell and the TN Air Guard fly Blackhawks and the twin rotor CH-47 into the airport for both day and night training. The helicopters fly over the river and seem to be right off the cabin deck. Wave at the crew as they go by.
The closest town is Gainesboro. The town is small. Faye's cafe on the square is great for breakfast. Charros, the Mexican restaurant is excellent. Information on other restaurants is provided. The Little Opry, on the 2nd Saturday night of each month, is held at the Center Grove Community center. A true local experience. Music is in the blood for many middle Tennesseans. The PBS show, "Blue Grass Underground" is taped a little over an hours drive way. "The Caverns have excellent shows. Chain stores and larger grocery stores are thirty minutes away in Cookeville.
  • Great spot for a quick weekend away. Friendly and accommodating hosts. Would recommend to anyone!

    Brad2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • From bird watching to the enchanted forest show, my fiancée and I loved every second we spent at Brae Cabin. We couldn’t have found a better place to celebrate our engagement. The love and care these hosts put into this home away from home is apparent and infectious. Hugh and Nancy set a new bar for southern hospitality as we felt comfortable the moment we met them. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. This was a fantastic place to disconnect while still having the comforts of home. You can’t beat a cabin in the woods that features both a great hike right on the property and a laser light show out on the deck. Brae Cabin will always hold a special place in our hearts — we can’t wait to come back.

    Angelo2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a fun hike to the top of the mountain and a impressive laser show at night!

    Kenneth2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • They are wonderful hosts- special details to our stay. We would certainly look forward to a return visit if we’re in the area again.

    Susan2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful and unique experience Hugh and Nancy provide! Total seclusion and beautiful views abound in this cabin but they take this experience up a notch by integrating some pretty cool technology! It is the perfect combination of both worlds!! Almost everything in this cabin can be controlled with Amazon Echo, including a laser light show that takes place on the deck (as many times as you like) and lights up the night with beautiful colors and your choice of music to accompany it! I truly loved everything about this cabin and I'm thinking I might just have to sneak back down for a relalaxing weekend with my husband here soon!!!

    Nichole2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful quiet little place, secluded just enough. Brae cabin is very nicely decorated, has a fully stocked kitchen and Hugh has added some very personal touches to the outside evening light shows, it is wonderful. Can't wait to come back again.

The Cottage is a private space conveniently located one block from the Gainesboro square in picturesque Jackson county. Just 12 miles to Cummins Falls State Park & 25 minutes to Cookeville. If you’re a history buff, make sure to visit the incredible Jackson County Archives & Veterans Hall at 104 Short St.
The Cottage has been renovated back to its original charm with modern updates. The bathroom has a large walk in shower and heated tile floors. Two brick and stone fireplaces (no longer operational) were found behind sheet rock and dark paneling. If you love vintage style and quirky older homes, this is the place for you!

    Ariel2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is wonderful. For the price and location it is a fisherman’s dream! As stated, nothing but Verizon works in the area so plan accordingly! Bring some movies for evening down time as there is a small T.V. Or just enjoy the sounds of the river on the back deck. Can’t wait to come back to the area and would 100% stay here again!

    Bobby2018-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent time. we watched the fog roll out on the river while drinking coffee each morning on the porch swing. The rest of the day, we took our canoe out on the river. The river is beautiful. Plenty of cookware and such for an awesome dinner. I would likely go back if we stay in the area again.

Your room is just 3 miles from the Old Mulkey Meeting House, known for the burial plot of Hannah Boone, Daniel Boone's sister. Just 15 miles from Dale Hollow Lake, 40 Miles from Barren River Resort. 4.5 miles from the Famous Dovies Hamburgers, open over 80 years. Be sure and try our famous Bar-B-Q's on the weekends. And don't forget your only 50 miles from Mammoth Cave. Very peaceful setting which is within 3 miles of Ky. and Tenn. Border . My place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
Very relaxing atmosphere of the hills of South Central Kentucky.
Very quiet neighborhood of mostly farming families.
  • The house is very nice and very clean. Ken was a great host. His house is decorated by beautiful harps and other handmade instruments he created. The house is out in the country with cow pastures behind with no traffic on the rd. We ate breakfast at a dinner just a few minutes away that was great. I would love to stay here again

    Johnny2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peace and quiet. The surroundings are lovely for their bucolic setting. Must have breakfast at Bob's. Must visit Old Mulkey Meetinghouse. Don't miss Mammoth Cave National Park.

  • Ken was fast to respond and his place is very nice. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

  • An immaculately kept home with every ammenity imaginable and the night sky my goodness i think I saw a billion stars it's a new memory and experience that will stay near and dear to my heart thank you Ken for truly being a Super Host

    Joel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, enormous room is Ken’s house in rural Kentucky, close to the Tennessee border. Ken was a warm and welcoming host, I enjoyed chatting with him and he gave me a great suggestion for a local bbq joint. The house is filled with his beautiful handmade autoharps and dolcimers. Definitely recommended!

    Steve2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ken is a very special host. Not only is his rural setting an oasis, but inside is a magical museum of all the wonderful folk instruments he has created by his own hands, including examples of a dulcimer, hammer-dulcimer, bowed-psaltry, and harps, both small and large. He is a generous man and made me feel right at home with some great conversations. I highly recommend a stay here and would love to return again!

    Garth2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place is immaculate. Very comfortable bed.

This serene mountainside paradise nestled in the trees overlooking the Lake is home to abundant dear, rabbits, hummingbirds, butterflies & lightening bugs. It's walking distance to the boat launch, fish right off the dock, trailer your boat or rent one at a nearby marina! Only minutes away from Awe-Inspiring Waterfalls, Amazing swimming holes, Country Vittles-Gourmet Dining, Live Blue Grass & Boutiques, it's conveniently situated between Knoxville & Nashville.
Perfect for: Families, Couples & Girls Trips
You can actually walk down the mountain to the boat launch it's so close! Bring your fishing gear and fish off the dock or dive in for a refreshing swim! Trailer your own boat or rent one at Granville Marina & Resort. I love dining at Sutton's General Store for a family style meal and listening to Live Blue Grass on Saturday evening, this is an AWESOME slice of apple pie Americana not to be missed! In Gainesboro, Helen's (west of town) toward Cookeville, makes some of the best pies I have ever had! Seasons is a lovely Boutique/Florist you'll want to check out (they also make incredibly delicious home cooked Southern style box lunches) they're located just East of town in a small plaza that has a good Mexican Restaurant. I highly recommend Crawdaddy's and the historic Creamery in Cookeville, yummy! Most of the waterfall photos pictured on the site were taken at Cummins Falls, only a 20 minute drive away, this is a must see! There are actually 5 incredibly beautiful falls in the area. The Diamond Caverns are also pictured near the Mammoth Caves which makes for a Fantastic day trip and Grand Adventure.

  • This cabin is tucked away enough to get away and enjoy a peaceful getaway, yet close enough to many attractions if you want to adventure out. Super clean and cozy!

  • The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the porch is great to sit outside and enjoy the nature around you.

  • We had an excellent stay at the Happy Mountain Hideaway. Dawn was extremely helpful with ideas for things to see and do during our visit. The home is clean and has a nice view of the river. Close to many places of interest, but still feels like you're far away from "real life." A great place to get away for a few days!

    Tabitha2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We rented this property primarily due to it’s location being very close to a wedding we were attending in Gainesboro. The property was as advertised and worked perfectly for our needs. It is a very nice spot in a woodsy setting. We saw many deer, a fox and other assorted wildlife while enjoying the large covered deck. All amenities were as advertised and we greatly enjoyed our stay. Dawn, the owner, could not have been more friendly and helpful. She provided many additional details on local sites to see and places to visit. The transaction was flawless. We would defiantly recommend should you be heading to the area.

    John2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • This experience was so wonderful for our family to reconnect. The house is quaint and full of interesting antique furniture and memorabilia from the past. The view off the porch is gorgeous and the fact that the connection to the outside world, via wireless/ internet, etc. along with the no TV in the house with cable, only access for DVD's or VHS tapes ( a varied assortment provided onsite) lends itself to such an amazing holiday with treasured memories. Activities and must visit restaurants were definitely appreciated and enjoyed by all members of our family. Additionally, our host called to check on us and provide us with local contacts, should we need further assistance. The mountain house holiday was enjoyed by all!

I would not hesitate to stay here again and will likely do so in the future! Just the drive through the woods to the property was worth it alone. This 1923 mercantile has been newly renovated into an outstanding private residence, and you are renting the entire space. This building is 2,350 square feet with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, 2 1/2 baths, deck, hardwoods, and a large great room with a quaint wet bar looking onto the historic Ben Sutton store. Eclectic mix of old and new, with a front porch that sets right on the main street of historic Granville. A perfect getaway place for everyone.
The last of the great stores in the old steamboat town of Granville has been newly renovated into a space that's 1/3 living area and 2/3 great room. The Granville Mercantile had a complex system of piers and trusses, and we have worked within that envelope to create a comfortable, fun, relaxing, modern (and yes, quirky, to be honest) space for you to relax. Splashed with color on the walls and ceilings, we gathered together some fun fixtures to offset the space. You'll see a mix of the old windows and floors and trusses, but with modern amenities. One story with soaring ceilings, we have installed a state-of-the art Trane ductless heating and cooling system, so that the rooms are independently conditioned. Hot water is instant through our tankless water heating system. Both the great room and family room have smart televisions and free wifi. The interior walls are insulated, so that anyone playing games in the front will barely affect those in the back. You can sit on the front porch or at the great room bar and watch tourists walk by, then head to the full kitchen in the living area to fix a quick lunch. Then off to the back deck where you can relax, reading with the old Presbyterian church as a backdrop. As an author, I'm always adding books into the mix, and I think you'll enjoy my selection of books in the reading nook in the great room. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the second bedroom has a double bed; both have cozy private bathrooms with shower/bath combinations. The common areas of the kitchen has a daybed, and the great room has a couch, which is suitable for sleeping. (Full disclosure: My kids like sleeping on the couch, but it's a little too "lumpy" for me.) The great room has a half-bath and a neat little bar area, perfect for game day or just lounging around. In the great room we also have a pool table, an air hockey game, an old-school Xbox hooked up to the television, and board games and cards. We repurposed a lot of the materials in the building, including the kitchen cabinets, the front bar, and the lights in the bedrooms (used on the TV show "Nashville" before we got them at Habitat's Restore).
In the center of town, the Mercantile is across the street from the 19th century Ben Sutton General Store (just awarded the Number One "must-visit" general store by Taste of the South magazine). We are only steps away from the Granville Museum and several other historic buildings and shops. It's just a quarter mile stroll to the Cordell Hull Lake and the riverfront Granville Veterans Park with picnic facilities. There are several spots within walking distance to go fishing. The Wildwood Resort (restaurant and marina) is just a mile away fronting the Cumberland River. Wildwood Resort serves incredible meals and they do offer adult beverages, as well as rentals for paddleboards, kayaks, and pontoon boats. There are two great horse trails in Granville, one just a half mile away, the other about three miles away. Both are good for riding, walking, and hiking. You can put a boat into the lake at Wildwood Marina, Holleman's Bend boat ramp, or at the Martin's Creek boat ramp, all situated within three miles. The Sutton Store offers bluegrass music and a meal most Saturday nights (reservations required), and the Methodist church (50 yards away) has Sunday morning services. DelMonaco Winery and Vineyards is 15 miles away, Caney Fork Outdoors (canoe and kayak rentals and a lot of other fun stuff), Canoe the Caney (canoe rental) is 20 miles away, Edgar Evins State Park is 20 miles away, Cummins Falls State Park is 20 miles away, Center Hill Dam is and Lake is 23 miles away, Burgess Falls State Park is 24 miles away, downtown Nashville is 65 miles away.
  • Amazing renovation on an historic building. Loved the extra large great room for comfortable conversations and games. Surprising internet speed and cell signals for this location. Walked across the street to Sutton Store for breakfast which was great. Plan to check out the Saturday night Bluegrass next time we're there. James is an excellent host!

    Russell2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful rooms, games for children and a lot of room to relax. Short walk to the lake and a park. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • This is a great location in center of Granville directly across from the Sutton General Store. Stylish and unique remodel of a 1923 mercantile store building. High ceilings, wooden floors, light, modern amenities, and lots of room. I particularly liked the reading nook in the front great room. A great small town Tennessee experience.

    Michael2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend James’s house. It is very cozy and comfortable. It is located in a beautiful and quiet small town.

    Man2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Mercantile was so charming and comfortable in the center of a small town. My children rode bikes, went fishing and visited Sutton’s Store. The family, including grandparents, aunts, and cousins, gathered for games in the large family area of the mercantile. This was a beautiful place to stay and relax. So clean and stylish with complimentary items and more. I would highly recommend this venue.

    Samantha2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Merchantile is an absolutely amazing space. You will not regret staying here. The architecture and ambiance are perfectly done. James provided wonderfully thoughtful touches through out this home. We can’t wait to return.

  • James was a wonderful host. He was very helpful with our family having our family reunion here. He accommodated all our request and answered all questions quickly. The great room was large enough for the the family to gather and spend time. We had the best view of the town from the front porch. After dinner everyone walked through the town at their own pace and saw the sights. It’s a great town with a lot of history. The home was clean and fully equipped for all our needs. The kitchen was my favorite area. The decor throughout was beautiful and the painting amazing. I would recommend this place for any large family gathering to small families looking to enjoy the small town of Granville TN. Home to the Petty family.

Close to Cummins Falls Nature Area and other Middle Tennessee Falls and Parks, you will find a quiet retreat with many amenities. You are situated on the point of the Cumberland and the North End of Cordell Hull Lake across from Granville. Peace, quiet, stargazing, and Tennessee pixie dust are our specialties.
  • We loved our stay at this quiet home nestled on a hill overlooking the river. It was great having a secluded but modern place to unwind. The jacuzzi and hot tub were great additions to the unwinding process. Tip: The jacuzzi takes nearly all the hot water from the hot water heater. Consider timing it's use so that showers aren't happening immediately before or after filling the jacuzzi.

  • Had a wonderful night here. We came into town to see family and this was a cozy clean place to sleep after a busy day. The area is very peaceful and we would have enjoyed sitting on the porch or grilling if we hadn't been visiting with relatives. The beds were super comfy and everyone slept well.

    Morgan2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was quaint and cozy located on beautiful property. We really were able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City. There is no TV; however, we were able to use our Tablet to watch movies via the Internet. The cabin was super clean and the bed was very comfortable. AC worked great! The bedroom is located upstairs and bathroom downstairs. Parking is close to entrance of cabin. We arrived very late and finding the cabin was a little challenging because the GPS signal was intermittent. Would recommend printing directions. We would definitely stay at the cabin again.

    Raymond2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay in this part of Kentucky....Cabin had private setting, with woods and meadow nearby and nice very big red cedar trees right next to it. There was another cabin close but it wasn't finished, so I was alone on that part of the property, which was exactly what I was looking for, to relax in solitude among the nature. I could listen to wild animal sounds and crickets on the large covered porch in the evening. Porch goes around the house and available on 2 sides of it, one side to the meadow and another side to the forest. I also got to do bird watching from the porch. The A/C was nicely cool and fresh, and the cabin was equipped for everything needed, very comfortable. I got to enjoy nice farmers market in nearby Scottsville with quality vegetables.

This cozy lakeside cottage is the perfect place to relax and unwind. You can enjoy the lakeview while rocking on the front porch or share fishing tales around the fire pit in the large backyard. Its a walk across the street or a short car ride to Cordell Hull state park to enjoy all lake life has to offer. If you need more adventure be sure to see the beautiful waterfalls at Cummins Falls.
Please note the following: the king bedroom/master is in a loft area. It is upstairs with a bathroom and the room with the twin beds. The fireplace is just for looks, no real fires are allowed, except outside at the firepit.
  • The house is in a quiet location and sits across the street from a lake. You can see the lake through the trees. The beds and couches were comfortable. I enjoyed staying in an Airbnb that was furnished from Ikea. Please note the upstairs bathroom shower is a bit short and the vanity mirror sits lower than normal due to the slanted ceiling.

  • This is a wonderful choice of homes if you are going to be in the Carthage area. Beds were extremely comfortable, the home decor was awesome. There is an upper balcony that you can sit and enjoy the view of the lake. It was just my husband and I, but this house could easily handle a large group. Lyndsey is a wonderful host, extremely helpful and quick to answer any messages that you send.

    Stephanie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lyndsey’s cabin was absolutely darling! The decorations were perfect, and the view of the lake was breathtaking. We had 9 people, and everyone had plenty of room. Lyndsey made our stay perfect!

    Susan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We went to the lake every day...VERY convenient path in front of the house! We also had a fire every night in the outdoor fire pit. I'd suggest that if you plan to stay here, bring fishing poles. The sunsets were picture perfect every night on the water. We watched movies, played games, ate a ton of food, and laid around doing a whole lot of nothing. Nashville was a doable day trip --we went to the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills Mall one hour away. If you stay here and are planning on doing your own cooking, I suggest you bring your own pan and large mixing bowl if you want to make brownies, scramble eggs, etc. Also, there is no microwave, which wasn't an issue for us because we reheated on the stove, but it's just a FYI. Perfect getaway spot!

    Lisa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z

Private home & land with a gated entrance, & view of a nearby lake. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, porches, & 2 fire pits. My beautiful home sits atop a mountain, viewing the valley & lake. It's a place to rest, enjoy nature, or see downtown Nashville, 1 hr away. The amazing view means that my driveway has a very steep gravel incline. You'll have my home on 5 quiet acres, no neighbors, to yourself. I have 2 outbuildings for my next project that are temporarily vacant. The property altogether is beautiful.
This home is on my private property with 5 acres. It is very peaceful and isolated in nature. Would you like to relax, meditate, and just have peace and quiet? This is the perfect place. There is a TV that plays DVDs, and that's it. Bring some DVDs if you would like to watch some movies. There is no internet on purpose to have a break and relax, though I do have cell phone service for those who need to do work, make phone calls, or use their hot spot. (There's a desk in the living room for your laptop to work). Technology aside, here you can easily go fishing, get out on the lake, go hiking, enjoy campfires, see the stars very clearly, or drive to downtown Nashville for city life for a night, just an hour away. My house sits perfectly on a mountain top, and the drive is worth it. Please remember that this means my driveway is steep. I can go up the incline in a vehicle with no front wheel or 4 wheel drive, but please have at least front wheel drive if you're unsure. Go up the driveway without slowing down, and do not attempt this from a dead stop after unlocking the gate. Go back and start from the road if that’s the case so you’re more confident.
Country home on private property in nature, but just an hour from downtown Nashville! You wouldn't think so because of my mountain home view of the beautiful river, and with lake access just a mile down the road (turning left out of my driveway). Beautiful views, wildlife, mostly deer, so be careful driving, and 10-15 minutes to Walmart/Civilization, and 20 minutes to interstate 40. The neighbors are a 1-2 miles away. IF you ever needed help or anything, they would help! Good people. Most of them own huge farms and are very friendly. Many own lots of acreage with cows, goats, and even lamas!
  • Loved the country setting and the view

  • I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the weekend here. From the communication with rebecca, the location the property was located at, and the cabin was immaculate and cozy.

  • A wonderful, peaceful, and beautiful experience. The hostess is thoughtful, gracious, and accommodating. It really is a place I want to visit again.

    Melinda2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great views. Gravel drive is manageable if you stay to the right side going up. My wife was able to get her 370Z up to the house. Very quiet. Fishing and boat dock less than 3 minutes away. Walmart is 10 minutes away.

  • We originally were going to RV to Tennessee but unfortunately it feel through hours before we were supposed to leave. If it hadn’t been for this lovely couples rental we wouldn’t have been able to make the trip possible. Aside from the fact the house is in a great location they also aloud dogs which is very hard to find because I go nowhere without my therapy god and if he could he would give the review all 4paws up! Lol He had so much room to run and play there was no one around it was glorious and for sure we’ll be back up hopefully when there’s some snow. Thank you again for everything from the kind hospitality to the amazing country experience thank you again.

Perfect for Musicians, Sportsman, Boaters, Newlyweds! Not only do I enjoy the fresh air, mountain and lake views while relaxing around the fire; but I also love soaking in the hot tub while stargazing and enjoying the wildlife all around me. Renting a pontoon at the marina and capturing the picturesque mountains framing the beautiful lake makes for an unforgettable experience. Beaches, parks, hiking trails, marina and restaurants are nearby. Come and experience "Tennessee's best kept secret"!
My home is in the mountains on 12.5 acres and has beautiful views of the lake as well. Perfect relaxing get away. My home has everything you need for your entire stay. My California King beds are a dream and the brand new kitchen is thoroughly equipped for all your entertaining needs I have wildlife such a s deer, turkey and even an Eagles nest on the property. Great for songwriting, jamming, couples, families and sportsmen. The 3rd busiest national park is around the corner. Great restaurants are nearby. Famous restaurants (featured on tv shows) are a beautiful scenic drive away in neighboring towns such as Hartsville and Gladeville.
My home is the only one in the middle of hundreds of acres. Perfect for musicians, songwriting, meditation and relaxing.
  • The house is just as pictured and is perfect for a get away if you're looking for peace and quiet. We saw deer daily from the front porch and the hot tub. The hot tub is amazing and very relaxing at the end of a day of exploring the surrounding area. This home was very clean and well maintained. As mentioned in previous reviews the driveway can be a bit of a challenge if you have a large vehicle but the home is definitely worth the inconvenience. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer this time, but we will be back during warmer months.

Lovely place to get away ...for a change of pace where you can just kick off your shoes and relax. Take a leisurely walk by the lake, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature or fish along the bank. Short distance to boating, fishing and water activities at any of the nearby boat launch locations including the Granville Marina or walk to shops, park, museum, church or Sutton Store in Historic Granville.
Spacious and quiet but conveniently located to events and activities in historic Granville. Nice large back porch for relaxing or dining. Walk to lake from cottage or a short drive to Granville Marina. Riding trails nearby.
The Cottage is located within a short walk to the charming little town of Granville nestled along the banks of the Cumberland River and Cordell Hull Lake where you will feel like you have stepped back in time. The Granville Museum and Sutton Homestead offer an abundance of historical information about this once noted 1900’s river boat town. Along the way you may want to stop at the Sutton Store (as featured on Tennessee Crossroads) for lunch or ice cream or look around in the Granville Gifts & Antique Shops. If you are looking for relaxation be sure to stop at the Veteran's Park on the lake. Special note for nature lovers: this area of the Cumberland is well known for its geodes, arrow heads and old pieces of driftwood.
  • Judy's cottage is very pretty, homey and clean. It is very close to the lake and to the main street of Granville, so you can walk there in nice weather. Judy is very friendly and available if you need her for anything. We enjoyed our time there and will definitely rent from her again.

If reconnecting with nature is your desire, come pitch a tent on this secluded, private, conveniently located 75 acre farm in the Gainesboro , TN area. The woods are alive with Tennessee wildlife and natural beauty. Beautiful Cummins Falls State Park and Dale Hollow Lake are just a short drive. A commons area, a clean modern mobile home, with two bathrooms, two showers, plenty of hot water and kitchen is dedicated for tent campers. An inexpensive way to explore the beauty of the area.
My farm has been in our family for 6 generations. It is currently not a working farm but at one time in the 1800's supported 12 family members. The Walker family cemetery which you will see during your camping stay has 6 of those 12 original family members. My Great , Great Grandfather Spencer was a Confederate Soldier who lost his brother Bishop at the Battle of Shilo. Spencer purchased the farm in 1877 and worked it until his death in 1918. Shady Walker is my Great, Great Grandmother and was Spencer's wife , such a cool name in hot Tennessee before air conditioning. She lived in her log cabin and raised her son Thomas. My Great Grandfather was named Thomas Bishop Walker an elected Constable in the district. When he made arrests in 1899 to 1903 he would bring his subjects to Gainesboro's Court House and to the local judge Cordell Hull the future Secretary of State of the United States during World War 2 and a Nobel Peace prize winner. Thomas played his fiddle at Cordell Hulls wedding and at many of a local country clog dances. He died of complications of a broken leg when his horse bucked him off. Sally Way Walker is my Great Grandmother and wife of Thomas she raised 8 children on the farm and was a Mid Wife to the local women when they delivered their children. Bud Walker was my Great Uncle and oldest son of Thomas and Sally. Bud was the last of the Walkers that farmed and received his decades of training from Spencer and Thomas. He won the honor of farmer of the year in Jackson County in 1933. He worked hard and as one of my family members told me, " when I was a young boy you were really quiet when Bud napped on the front porch during lunch time, for if you woke him it ended your break" ,. " He ran off the front porch of the log cabin shouting , lets get to it boys". He died of a heart attack on a hot July day after plowing with his mule Tob. Ann Walker was my Aunt and eldest daughter of Thomas and Sally Walker. Ann was the last Walker to live on the farm. She is in the Airbnb list of pictures, and is pictured with her white flower. Ann Walker's Farm House is also listed on Airbnb. Ann use to baby sit me. She was a kind woman and never married ; raised by settlers of the 1800's. She was accustomed to spring water , out houses , chewed twist tobacco and called barn dances. The grave yard is filled with old time flowers in the Spring . I do not keep the grave yard mowed as it will kill the flowers and in the Summer and Fall the grave yard can get over grown. I have named the different camping sites after the many people who gathered for camping during our Solar Eclipse event. The Virginia site , Indiana Hoosiers site, Wall Street site named after two of New York Mayor Micheal Bloomberg's camping employees, Army Ranger site great for Hammock camping, Connecticut site for those that need electric power, Kentucky hollar field Site, Mississippi Field site, Ann Walker field and the lost Drone Saga site, and the classy Paris , France commons area a clean modern mobile home that was so appreciated by the young woman from Paris, France for its private showers and bathrooms.
Beautiful country all around with friendly neighbors.
  • This is a great place to pitch a tent. Very accommodating and such friendly hosts. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet that Richards place offers. We will definitely be looking for an opportunity to return.

  • Perfect stay for our week of visiting family in the Cookeville and surrounding area. We brought along a card table and camp chairs and spent relaxing evenings enjoying board games and cards on the front porch after our day trips to state parks. Loved the country setting, the quiet nights, and peaceful mornings! When we did need to get online, wifi was fast and reliable. Would definitely book the Ann Walker house again!

We also went to cumming falls for a hike... somewhat challenging hike (expect to get wet up to the knees) and breathtaking falls, we loved it. We we’re glad we choose the Ann Walker house! Thank Richard for the upportunity to stay there and enjoy nature...

These are 2 amazing bunk cabins on my property. They are furnished beautifully, but do not have electricity yet. There is an extension chord from my home that reaches each one. The driveway is steep and gravel, and I recommend at least front wheel drive. It's worth it to see the river view with nearby lake access. Please do not attempt my driveway if you're not sure what you're doing. IF you wish to rent my entire home and 2 cabins let me know so we can discuss a price. Thank you.
It's on 5 private beautiful acres with lake access just down the road. Also, There are composite toilets in each cabin. An extension chord for a fan, coffee, microwave..
The neighbors are a drive away. They are very kind, and most have acres of farms and live stock, and even lamas! They would help any neighbor, as I've experienced personally. You feel safe and have peace of mind in this solitude. It's very safe, beautiful, and quiet to be in nature in this neighborhood.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary trip and We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the view of the lake and turning of the leaves while sipping hot tea from the hot tub and I must say, pictures really do not do this justice. Carla was amazing!! Very hospitable, She even met us at the door to bring my girlfriend basil and Italian seasoning for our dinner the night we arrived. —Will definitely be coming back!!

    Cason2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin and views. Pictures don’t do it justice. Carla is a great host and answered all of my questions. There’s a lot of information and brochures in the cabin for local attractions. Even with rainy weather we still enjoyed the area. Highly recommend Cummins falls and “the spot” in Gainesboro for a burger and beverage. Views from both the gazebo and the hot tub are spectacular. A very nice, secluded spot in Tennessee.

    Brandon2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is something out of a magazine, truly beautiful! Sitting outside watching the hummingbirds, looking at the amazing scenery while sitting in the hot tub was a dream come true. Howard and Carla had everything set up perfectly and were great hosts. Breathtaking is the only word to describe this place!

    Rebecca2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was AMAZING. Secluded, clean, the perfect place for a getaway. Will definitely be back.

    Todd2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! My two best girlfriends and I celebrated 20 years of friendship with a weekend here, and we could not have been more thrilled with our stay. We cannot stop gushing about how wonderful everything was, from the gorgeous view to the perfect porch, where we spent hours just sitting and talking. It far exceeded our expectations, only because the pictures do not do it justice. Carla is a sweet and thoughtful host who made sure the kitchen was stocked with staples for us including orange juice, milk and even farm-fresh eggs from their chickens. There were plenty of towels, pillows, linens and even toiletries, had we forgotten something. The entire loft apartment, which is located up a flight of steps from the comfortable covered porch with ceiling fans and a huge hot tub, is decorated with interesting antiques including books, dolls, furniture, quilts and toys. The copper in the kitchen and the wood throughout the living quarters gleam. We were so enchanted by our stay that we left only to eat dinner at local restaurants that Carla had recommended. Otherwise, we were content to while away the weekend with coffee and conversation in view of the water and surrounded by nature. It was the most relaxing setting I've ever stayed in, and we definitely will be back!

  • Nice and peaceful place! We could have watched the hummingbirds and goats for hours. We participated in the milking of a cow, receiving tons of education about milking, the milk, and other natural remedies. The night sky was one of the starriest I’ve ever seen! Within driving distance of many beautiful parks and waterfalls.

  • A short one mile jaunt off the main road leads to a beautiful cabin. We were greeted by chickens and a sweet young boy who let us in the cabin. We settled in quickly and with ease. The cabin has everything you need to just relax. Our kiddos enjoyed making friends with the dog and cat. While befriending the cat, the kiddos found a secret egg laying place. Two fresh eggs every morning--bonus. We came to visit a few state parks and we found that the cabin was located not far from any of our destinations. We'd love to stay at the cabin again.

  • Lakin it easy. If your wanting a home away from home you need to stay at Jeff's lake house. We had everything thing that we needed. Any questions I had, Jeff responded quickly to them. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch, looking out at the river.

  • This experience was super. Perfect location in the heart of Granville. Very helpful host. Spacious, clean rooms & gathering areas. Well stocked kitchen. We were there 3 nights and just wished we could have stayed longer. Jeannie Nov. 2019

  • If you need one room or four rooms in Granville this is the place to stay. Randall and his wife are absolutely awesome. They met every need we had during our stay. The home is always clean and the people are so friendly. You can’t go wrong booking with them.

  • Granville is a beautiful town. The house is extremely clean and well stocked. We were pleasantly surprised to find milk, juice, and bread waiting for us when we arrived! We also enjoyed having the large community space of the kitchen and living room area. In contrast we were also grateful for our separate bed rooms and bathrooms. The only downfall is there is absolutely no cell phone service and no wifi in the house. You can take a short walk down the street and connect to WiFi at the general store and there is a land line in the house, so we weren’t completely without communication. Overall our stay was excellent and we would like to return another time! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home!

  • We had our family reunion in Granville and needed housing for family traveling there from other states. This home was perfect. If you want just a room or if you need a large home I recommend this home. Randall was very helpful and offered some info on things to do while there. The rooms were all clean and comfy. The peace and quiet of small town was amazing. You WILL enjoy your stay here.

  • This is great place to stay. It is one of a kind, magnificant and amazing exeperience. If you want different from regular stay then this is your place. My kids enjoyed a lot seeing the cows and watching the cows get milked. Sure we will be here again and strongly recommend this place to others.

  • We had a lot of fun staying at the farm! Our hosts were very gracious and friendly, attentive and ready to answer any questions we had. The set up is so neat - they have windows overlooking the barn when you go out into the hallway, which my two boys spent every free moment looking out through. We were intrigued by the robotic milkers, loved the cats and the baby calves, enjoyed the cheese samples and tours, and were excited by the prospect of a baby being born (the cow was due, but she didn't give birth while we were there, though my boys watched her like a hawk!) We spent just the one night, on our way through the area, and that evening was hampered by a downpour, but even so our host came out to meet us and make sure we got settled in. Definitely a wonderful experience!

  • Kids love everything about this place

    Blake2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese was an outstanding experience. We enjoyed all the well thought out touches and being able to view the entire operation and milking process of the cows. My favorite is the observation deck right outside of the apartment doors. This air bnb is very comfy clean tidy and peaceful!

    Rachel2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • It still makes me smile to think about spending the night in the barn. When you first walk into the building, it smells like a barn, but that smell is not in the apartment. The apartment is sparkling clean. A lot of nice touches. There are a significant number of stairs, so if stairs are an issue, this is not the place for you. It is such fun to have the windows to look out over the cows! Do be aware that while you have the privacy of your own walls and doors, you can hear the people in the apartment next-door. And therefore, I am sure they can hear you. That being said, I still would not hesitate to recommend for people to stay here! It is most delightful.

  • This is a truly unique experience. The apartment sits above the cow barn and it is fun to be able to watch them out the observatory windows. The apartment is very clean and well equipped. Beverly met us in the cheese shop and explained the process while we watched Kenny make cheese. Later, Kenny took the time to explain the robotic milking process which is pretty amazing! We were able to watch a calf being born later in the evening. Such a great experience if you want something out of the ordinary!

    Stephanie2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beverly and Kenny have created a comfortable and unique experience. You might even get to see a calf born!

    Robin2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accommodations an an outstanding value for our weekend trip exploring mammoth cave. Highly recommend a stay here. It’s a bit of a drive to mammoth cave, but it was worth it to be able to cook all our own meals and have such a unique experience.

If reconnecting with nature is your desire, come pitch a tent on this secluded, private, conveniently located 75 acre farm in the Gainesboro ,TN area. If a crowded, postage sized camping site takes the fun out of your get-away, give us a try. Beautiful Cummins Falls State Park is just a (15min) drive, and Dale Hollow Lake a (25 min). I supply the camp fire wood. You supply your tent and sleeping bags. Most of the camping areas are convenient and you can drive up to the sites. Give us a try !
My farm has been in our family for 6 generations. It is currently not a working farm but at one time in the 1800's supported 12 family members. The Walker family cemetery which you will see during your camping stay has 6 of those 12 original family members. My Great , Great Grandfather Spencer was a Civil War Soldier who lost his brother Bishop at the Battle of Shilo.
