Places to stay in Schulenburg
The Otto house is walking distance from downtown Schulenburg and has a cozy, quaint feel. The house has 2 bedrooms, one with a full bed and the other a queen, along with a futon in the living room. We currently do not have a TV or Wifi, but what better way to get away from the bustle of everyday life and enjoy the peace and quiet of small town life.
  • Perfect place to experience small town living. Cute, clean and quiet and the hosts recommendations were spot on for making our stay even. Ire enjoyable.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here despite the lack of wifi! We picked this airbnb because of the location and the pet friendly space. Our dog loved the backyard, but since she is a curious pup we had to go out with her to make sure she didn't break out. We got married at sengelmann hall and this airbnb was within walking distance and made the weekend so much easier! Laurie was also very accommodating and friendly and I'd recommend her airbnb to everyone!

  • This place was so cute and charming. It was the perfect size for my wedding night. I wish the shower/bathroom was a tad bigger but it was perfectly fine for a short stay. The house is cutely decorated and was in walking distance to the church I was getting married at and the downtown area.

  • The host was fantastic! She communicated with us and gave us lots of local tips/ places to go. The house was beautiful! Sitting on the porch at night was wonderful. It’s an very nice place. The bath robes were a little better plus in the house. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back to this house again! Thank you Jess so much!

  • Expect a well taken care of, very clean, working EVERYTHING, hot water, well lit, cozy yet spacious, well stocked with extras, and quick response from hosts.

    Brenda2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of ladies from Plano’s Garden Club in town to tour the painted Churches. My experience with Jess was extraordinary, from booking, questions and recommendations. I can’t say enough about how exquisite the property is. Suffice it to say that the first 20 minutes were spent wandering the house, exclaiming how cute something was, how the host thought of everything, and that they wanted to just live there. Pictures filled a shared album! Quality antiques furnish a superb restoration. Our linens, robes and towels were top of the line. The house was also state of the art with technology! A “Nest” controlled the temperature and a programmable lock was on the door. (Huge umbrellas in case it rained!). One guest was a light sleeper and a train runs through town at night. We found earplugs for her in the cabinet! There is a very nice yard that we didn’t use. All was immaculate!

    Lynne2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for sharing your home. Our family really felt at home away from home for Christmas. Everything was perfect and comfy. You can really feel all the love and attention to detail that you put into this home. Love the comfy beddings and pillows. We wanted for nothing. Everything we needed was there. We will definitely stay again next time visiting our parents in Schulenburg.

    Peter2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really cute house with great furnishings, you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into decorating. I was in town for a wedding in Flatonia and this house was a great base for all of the wedding activities. If I find myself in this area again, I would definitely stay there.

    Alecia2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for the flatonia chili spill this house is very nice very clean and the host couldn’t be any more helpful they welcomed us to use there pots and pans aswell as spices and seasonings the house was fully loaded with soap shampoo and much more even laundry detergent. A perfect retreat! "Still Waters" is beautifully located alongside a two acre lake, and underneath sprawling live oak trees. Wildlife abounds!
Great for families! Also great for couples who need a serene "get away".
Three miles from Weimar (eating places). Fifteen miles from Splashway Water Park in Sheridan. Thirty five miles from Antique Festival (Spring and Fall shows in Warrenton/Round Top).
  • Still Waters never gets old. Had coffee with deer and wild turkeys each morning. Watched fish jump all day and enjoyed the cool breeze from the porch. Three days felt like a week, in the best way possible. Can’t wait to return.

    Trent2020-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin that is so cutely decorated and so clean. The property is very nice and the fishing is excellent.

    Stephanie2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place to get away from it all and unwind! Our family of six fit comfortably in the cabin and enjoyed the fresh air, the fishing, and the cows during our long weekend in Weimar. We look forward to returning soon!

    Christina2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot express the peace and quiet we experienced at this cabin. My girls and I were able to disconnect from the city and connect with nature. My girls loved the fishing time. I loved cooking on the grill and able to sit outside and eat dinner together. Still Waters is a little piece of heaven on earth.

    Karla2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Glen and Dottie has one of the best Cabins my family has ever stayed in. It’s a very peaceful and calm area with beautiful landscaping. It’s a great place for kids to explore. We love it. The minute detailed touches make this place heaven on earth 🌍 .

    Teny2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem for sure, didn't know you could find a nice reclusive big-city getaway like that between San Antonio and Houston.

    Huy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful getaway with beautiful views. Very peaceful.

    Amy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Still Waters Cabin is an incredible getaway. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to relax, have a cup of tea on the front porch overlooking the stunning lake or if you're looking for something more active such as fishing, paddle boats, fire pits, grilling, bird watching etc, this is the place to be. Our daughters aged 3.5 & 5.5 loved it here, there are numerous special little touches that make it a perfect stay for the younger ones ... inc Games, a sand pile with tonka trucks and the binoculars were a sure hit. The cabin is extremely clean and has everything you could need. Don't be fooled by the sofa beds, I have slept on many in my time and dread the thought of sleeping on any more ...... The sofa beds here are amazing!!!! I have never slept on a comfortable sofa before this stay. There's even a single sofa that's perfect for a small child. Check-in was seamless, communication was fantastic, the hosts are the nicest people you will ever meet, everything about his place makes for the perfect getaway. We will definitely be returning again.

  • We will be back (best review I can ever offer)! This was the perfect, peaceful getaway, and my only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Bring your own food to make, because you won’t want to leave! If you’re looking for a respite from chaos, this is the place. Laura was quickly responsive to all questions and the house was exactly what we were seeking—a remote getaway in the country.

    Karen2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is FABULOUS!!! We will be staying here in the future. So clean and breath taking views.

    Garrett2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this gorgeous home in peaceful Schulenburg. We asked for a slightly early check in (due to having to get ready for a wedding) and they graciously accommodated. An added bonus is the cows, horses and lively donkey on the acreage. You will adore this place! We are thinking of making this an annual trip.

    Annette2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely an amazing location and paradise home. Great place for a retreat or just a relaxing weekend. Stunning home.

    Lynne2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place is absolutely incredible! Not only is the house full of thoughtful touches like extra water bottles and coffee, but the views from the porch are breathtaking. We had a wonderful visit - if you’re looking for a place to stay in the area, look no further!

    Jayci2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a delight! We were a group of three couples in town for a weekend wedding. The house is beautiful, the rooms are very large and the beds are comfortable. There are plenty of sitting areas around the house to enjoy each other's company and the kitchen is fully stocked. The experience was wonderful and Laura's personal touches made for a wonderful stay. It's a great rental and comes highly recommended for a larger group!

    Kasia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best airbnb’s we have ever stayed in! We will definitely stay here again. We can highly recommend it to anyone. There was so many personal touches and the house is absolutely gorgeous, even prettier than in the pictures. It is nice and quiet, out in the country and not a far drive from either san antonio, austin or houston. We enjoyed cooking in a perfectly equipped kitchen, spending time on the patio overlooking the property, the fire place, beautiful rooms... everything was just perfect!

    Melandi2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful house! With an amazing view and lots of space to just sit relax and soak up the beauty of everything. Also all the small touches, like labels around the kitchen for guest, made the whole stay very welcoming and homey. • This little cottage is so conveniently located in Columbus. Not only is the cottage cozy, but it's also got the general necessities needed to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Definitely recommend for future stays. Loved that it was clean and gave a feeling of being "home." The Host, Terry is such a sweet person, we loved our small stay.

    Lorinda2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing little getaway from the big city. Terry was so easy to work with. We especially loved we could back up our car within steps of the front door! We think she gave up her parking space in her own driveway for us! Everything you needed was there and she brought us breakfast to our room! We enjoyed our stay.

    Lana (Kay)2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Terry's place for my grown children to have a place to stay near my rental, as we were in Columbus for a local wedding. I never saw the property, but my children said everything was perfect and very clean. Terry made them all feel most-welcome. My daughter said the queen bed was the most comfortable bed she'd ever slept on! Terry was always super helpful and so friendly to me, through messaging. Highly recommended!

Schulenburg, Texas is the halfway point between Houston and San Antonio. Though a small city, with just under 3,000 residents, it is rich in history. Many of Schulenburg’s early settlers were of German and Czech descent, and it is that culture that has impacted the central Texas town and made it what it is today.
  • The house was quaint, with a great lawn to play in while still being close to the town. What a wonderful place, we had a great time!

    Michael2020-03-17T00:00:00Z

  • As much as is like to keep this little gem of a property all to myself, I'm obligated to let folks know about my wonderful stay at The Bird's Nest! Brandon's response time was great after making the reservation. Upon arrival, he was patient with me when I hit Houston traffic on the way, took a wrong turn, and was a little late for the planned check-in time. He and his wife met us and walked us through the property, explaining some of the history of the old house and the renovations they'd performed. They did a great job! The house is perfect! There were water and snacks to welcome us, which was much appreciated after the drive there. The accommodations were just perfect for a girl's trip to the Texas Quilt Museum. He gave us a tip and we tried a great restaurant for dinner - The Garden Co. (Be advised that the restaurant was a little pricey for dinner, but the service, food, and ambiance were great.) The house was clean, comfortable, and decorated nicely. The bath towels were so soft, and they even supplied some spare toiletries, which ready helped me out since I had forgotten my hand lotion. The property was great for us city folk to get a taste of the country and some fresh air on the back deck! The location was good for our trip - not too far off the main interstate, and close to local restaurants and roads to tour around the area. My mom is already making plans for our next girl's trip, and we'll stay at The Bird's Nest again if we can!

  • The Bird's Nest Ranch was a beautifully restored farmhouse that was perfect for our group in town for a wedding. We had a great, comfortable stay and woke up to lovely country views. Brandon was very accommodating and responsive. Would absolutely recommend staying here!

    Brittany2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I loved our stay. The house and property were gorgeous and spotless. It had easy and quick access to I-10. Brandon went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He made some great recommendations for things to do while we were in town. This place is great for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. I highly recommend staying here.

Steeped in tranquility, this tiny guest cottage is set in wildflower-filled rolling hills in New Ulm, TX. near Round Top/Warrenton venues. Comforts include queen bed, mini-kitchen, private garden shower, firepit, hammock, rocking chairs, deck, STARS!
--The studio style space is tiny, self-contained, and private, though just a short stroll from the main farmhouse. It has essentials for cooking, eating, sleeping and deep contemplation--it's more like cozy ship's quarters than a luxury suite. The "bathroom" is a European-style screened toilet, and the cottage sink serves both kitchen and bath, and there is an outdoor private shower (with hot water). --the mini-kitchen includes a microwave, toaster oven, electric teapot, coffee pot, and an induction single burner cooktop with appropriate cookware. A gas grill is available for guests' use upon request. --The queen bed is comfortable (memory foam). --There is an awesome hammock outside for stargazing. --A firepit (and wood) is available for roasting marshmallow or gazing into the flames EXCEPT during times of drought when a burn ban is in effect or during high winds. --Coffee and tea are provided. Snacks and breakfast goodies (homemade granola, fruit, coffee cake, muffins) may also show up if scheduling permits (or if there is a special request).
--This is seriously TEXAS. Small town, big heart. New Ulm has a couple of restaurants. The most popular local stop is the Texas Star, which offers terrific breakfasts, Texas-style lunch, and dinner on selected evenings. In town is also a new cafe, Tin Lizzie, serving Cajun-style poorboys and amazing desserts, with extended lunch hours (11-6 pm) and (rumor has it) dinner hours will be added soon. --More on restaurants: Just down the road is Pivo's Ice House, which as a great selection of craft beers, awesome chicken wings (and other food) and a fabulous view at sunset. Further down the road in Fayetteville (approx. 8 miles from the cottage) there are several more restaurants, included the recommended Joe's Place. Just a jot further down the road, you will find numerous restaurants in Roundtop. In the other direction, Columbus also has quite a few restaurants, including some outstanding German food (Schobels). --If you want to cook, the Hometown Hardware store in New Ulm actually carried food basics, so if you need milk, cheese, eggs, butter, bacon, potatoes and other things (including frozen dinners) this would be your first stop. North on Hwy 109 is a more general general store in Industry, Texas, which carries everything from fantastic BBQ, rubber boots, and guinea hens to milk, eggs, yogurt, and avocados (and everything in between). And they serve it up with a smile. --If you must have a supermarket, there are both HEB and Brookshire Brothers in Columbus (15 miles). --If you find yourself here in April, the New Ulm Art Festival may be in full swing. Some wonderful art by young, local artists. --And of course, there are nearby international venues for antique shopping in Roundtop, Warrenton, and Wynedale.
  • Great experience as always. She is awesome!!

  • This was definitely a much needed stay. My son got to meet his first horse and he was so amazed. It’s definitely out there, but the peace and quiet is what we loved the most. Gerri and her husband are so nice. I would 10/10 recommend staying here and will more than likely stay here again in the future.

  • A cozy, serene, place to stay. We really enjoyed it.

  • This is a great little cottage in the country for a quiet getaway.

    Shasta2020-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gerri’s place was perfect for a getaway in the country. Very helpful and courteous for check-in and during our stay. If you’re looking to get out of the city to enjoy some peace and quiet, this is the place! Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Gerri!

  • The perfect country side getaway! The cottage was so cute and well thought out. The animals in the nearby field and the occasional train beyond the meadow give it a real country ambiance. Very peaceful and laid back vibe. Gerri is a very sweet and thoughtful host. She foresees your needs and is so much fun to talk to. I would definitely recommend.

    Mariah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • So much fun to just relax

    Lorenzo2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • The little house was cozy and perfect. The outside shower was fun and the weather was ideal for it. The porch is a nice place to enjoy your morning coffee. Gerri is just next door if you need anything extra, but the house has everything you should need. She was very kind and welcoming. Most of the closest places to eat close a little early so be prepared for that. Overall, it was a great place to stay for an incredible price. If we're ever in the area, we'd definitely stay again.

Welcome to our charming log cabin. The location is on our 20 acre property south of nearby La Grange and is convenient to Round Top, Festival Hill, Round Top/Warrenton antique show, La Grange courthouse and square, Texas Quilt Museum, painted churches, and Monument Hill. We are pet friendly. However, you must not leave your pet alone in the cabin. Contact us if you have questions. We have 3 dogs.
  • Mike and Max have a gem of a space that they have thankfully made available thru AirBNB. We had low expectations, given this was a "cabin," but we were so pleasantly surprised at the beautiful craftsmanship, smart design and comfortable amenities. Mike and Max are really excellent hosts in every way. This place was a peaceful refuge for us in a stressful and chaotic time in the world. If we could give it 10 stars, we would.

    Connie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb stay and it was unforgettable. I will not book a hotel again if I can avoid it. The cabin was perfect for a couple who enjoys nature and peace with all the amenities of a Home that is cozy, clean, and relaxing. The short detour from the main hwy is well worth it... and the place was easy to find...Mornings and evenings included beautiful scenery of chirping cardinals, peckers, hummers and blue jays viewed from the porch rocking chair, lawn swing, or picnic table. You can grab dinner in La Grange or cook in the cabin. We used the outdoor gas grill to cook up quick bbq dinners. Other than my personal chef knife, the kitchen was fully stocked with all we needed and Mike was clear that we were free to request anything we needed. Expect a warm welcome from Mike and Max in a beautiful space and setting. ~Antonio and Jackie Villalon

  • Great place! Private and quiet

    Rebecca2019-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful setting. Extremely clean and nicely decorated. Comfortable bed. Enjoyed the front porch view a lot. Mike and Max gave us a friendly greeting. Perfect location to tour the Painted Churches around Schulenburg.

    Chad2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cabin on beautiful acreage that supports much local wildlife. We enjoyed nighttime campfire and stargazing; daytime grilling, nature walks around the property, and jogs on country roads (being joined by country dogs for various legs along the way!); getting up before dawn, grabbing a cup of coffee (yes, Keurig!), and taking the provided lawnchairs down to the open field to experience the bird songs/flight and watch the sunrise. Max and Mike think of every little thing - dry kindling and lighter for the fire, little labels and notes for things you might miss or be curious about. Even a blanket labeled for use outside (we'll try it next time!). While there is plenty to do in the area, we spent the whole weekend cooking all our meals in the cabin and just hanging around the property soaking in all that nature had to offer. Totally relaxing and rejuvenating.

    Julia2019-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin, property and people. Mike and Maxine were helpful and friendly. We wanted for absolutely nothing during our stay. Cabin is awesome and comfortable.

    Curt2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Fayette Cabin is one of the most unique spaces we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Mike is a very thoughtful and gracious host & excellent communicator. The cabin is very close to many interesting towns & attractions including Schulenberg - Painted Churches, Round Top - Royer's Café, Flatonia - great for watching the trains pass by, and Shiner - home of Shiner beer. We left in amazement of how Mike & Max were able to renovate this little structure and fill it with so many amenities & comforts!

Beautiful country setting; get out of the city and enjoy mountain bike riding, road bike riding, kayaking, boating, fishing or swimming. You are renting a camping space very close to the river ( not on the river), a shared large fire pit, access to the river, and a few spots to hang hammocks. Bring your own tent. There are islands on the river to camp on but you have to kayak to the island. Great place to relax .This is PRIMITIVE camping at its best. Rent kayaks from me 35 each.
The camping space is located on land that has a home which is also used for Airbnb. It is unique land located next to the Colorado River. Great fishing, and Kayaking . Near RoundTop for their annual antique shows. The price is per person everyone must pay to stay. I can accommodate large groups.
Pure country living. Rustic be respectful of others private property please.
  • Nice place for a little camping getaway! Pretty far off the main road, nice size plot to camp on, fire spot and grill were great. The river is great for swimming and fishing. If you need a day spot or just want to get away. I’d recommend it! Nothing fancy, but a nice spot to camp. Also, Nenita is super helpful and makes sure the place is clean and ready.

    John2020-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to camp! The grill/fire-pit was useful and the river was fun. Perfect for a quick escape from the city.

    Jesus2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nenita's place was just what I was looking for! All I needed was a place to put up my tent, close to the river and it was spot on! Two great kayaks for rent and literally just across the road from the river. It was super easy to put the kayak in. There's great mountain biking places less than ten minutes away. Nenita was super quick to respond to any questions and it was super easy to find and get in/out. I'll definitely be back!

Oh and home is walking distance to the Colorado River. Was very nice to walk to river after a long day of fishing Fayette. We will be back for sure.

  • What a fantastic home! My family and I took a fishing trip to Fayette County power Plant lake and reserved this home. It more than met our expectations as far as cleanliness, spaciousness and the floor plan. This was basically a brand new home that has been redone by a wonderfully kind family. Located close to anything that Lagrange has to offer and also the Colorado River. We will try to stay here every time we come to La Grange Texas. SPECTACULAR!!!

Located in Sheridan, TX, 3/4 mile from Splashway Water Park. Come enjoy the outdoors with this beautifully renovated rural home and land. We welcome families, hunters, and work crews alike! We are far away enough from major cities that you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at Serenity Farms while still being close enough to small towns like Hallettsville, Columbus, and Edna! Walmart and Brookshire Brothers in Hallettsville are about 15 minutes from the property.
This property was The Sheridan Family’s home for over 50 years. The original structure outside has been kept intact. We have since renovated inside introducing granite countertops, wood plank vinyl floors, and custom cabinetry. The home now feels much more open than before and is perfect for your family and friends to enjoy.
❗️Map may show Weimar, but we are in Sheridan, TX❗️ Down the street from Sheridan’s famous Splashway Water Park! Sol gas station down the street has a lot of convenient items as well.
  • Peace and quiet! We stayed a couple of nights here while in town.... and really enjoyed the home. The house is completely updated inside, very nicely decorated, and has comfortable furnishings. We would stay here again!

  • Jackie's place was a great place for my survey crew to stay while working in the area.

    Angela2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The inside was really nice. I believe that this is a better value than the Splashway cabins with two full baths and two bedrooms about 5 minutes down the road. The kitchen had almost everything we needed to cook some meals. A few perks like coffee, paper towels, and other non-essentials really made a difference. There is some junky storage in the back, but they put up a wooden fence that hides most of it. I definitely do like the cattle on the bordering property as they add to the country charm. I bet this place fills up quite a bit this summer for Splashway trips as it was easy and clean. I would be back again.

Only 15 minutes to the Antique Fair! My place is in the historic downtown La Grange. You will be walking distance from restaurants, shopping, wine bars and coffee shops. It is next door to the Texas Quilt Museum, La Grange Train Museum and active train tracks. This is an upstairs unit with a private entrance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. Please note: this is an upstairs unit. Also, there is a train that passes a few times daily.
La Grange, Texas is centrally located between Austin, Houston and San Antonio. We have something for everyone to enjoy! Join in one of our downtown activities or venture out into the county for more wine tasting, shopping, food and fun!
Check out our upcoming events in the neighborhood! There is something happening around the county all year long. Hope you will join in the fun. For more information go to La Grange Main Street & Tourism or Visit Fayette County websites.
  • Place is really clean and downtown location is great. The train does come a few times and sound it's whistle but to us it just added ambiance. Full kitchen was nice.

  • Very cute and functional suite in the LaGrange city center! Lots of stylish and understated touches and the price is definitely right!

    Brian2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Kelsey’s place. Being a lover of old buildings, we loved the high ceilings the transoms the clawfoot tub and shower, the wood floors and the antiques here and there. For an old building it had great air-conditioning, heat and electrical plugs when/where we needed it. The king-size bed was very comfortable. So it was perfect!

    Don And Lynda2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely apartment with a lot of charm and characterful decor. Easy to find with parking at the back. The trains come through every hour or so and they are loud (they stop around midnight & start again around 6am) but they pass by fairly quickly so were never a problem for us). And Kelsey leaves a jar of ear plugs in the bedroom should you need them :) Check-in is extremely easy. This was a good base for shopping during Round Top antiques week.

    Sara2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kelsey's place was perfect! The location was convenient for the Antique Fair & Wal-Mart was minutes away. Super clean and check-in was a breeze! The couch and bed were comfortable, and the nearby train was the perfect addition to a fun getaway. Thank you again, Kelsey!

With four bedrooms (2,950+sqf) and 16 acres to explore, this can be your home base for Hill Country Antiquing or a quiet retreat for your whole group. Amenities include 3 bedrooms with queen/king memory foam mattresses plus a bunk room (sleeps five w/trundle). Large groups will enjoy the two living room spaces, formal & informal dining areas plus one of the best screened porches around. For the cool Hill Country nights, the outdoor fire pit is a great place to recap the day & toast marshmallows.
Designed to be our family getaway, the “BRC” is ideal for groups and family gatherings. Dubbed the "fun room" by our kids, the larger of the two living rooms is a great place to unwind with two sofas (these are pull outs as well), a big screen TV, and a foosball table (plus lots of additional floor space for the many board games in the closet). The house also boasts both formal and informal dining spaces which can seat a combined 16 people at one time. Additional getaway spaces include a fantastic screened in porch with a wooden swing for two, a great firepit for sitting around in the evening (feel free to bring out the camping chairs and bring down the porch chairs) and lots of paths throughout the property to relaxing walks. For those with a competitive side, we also have cornhole, giant jenga and lots of board games.
We are surrounded by some great neighbors who will wave if they pass you on the road, but on 16 acres, you are not likely to hear or see anyone around you. The town center is about 10 minutes away and Round Top is about 15 minutes beyond that.
  • This is a wonderful relaxing place to stay! The queen mattresses are sooooo comfortable!! The bunk beds are fine. The sofa beds are sofa beds....There is a lot of space and the outdoor area is fun if you are an outdoorsy person. I would recommend staying there!

  • Highly recommend this place! We went for a family getaway weekend with 7 adults plus a couple dogs and a couple kiddos and everybody had exactly what they needed. Tons of kids toys, huge yard for the dogs to play in, and enough seating for everyone to be together. We loved the fire pit and the big porch. Communication was great, check in/out was easy. This really is a perfect place to get away for a weekend!

  • The house is beautiful and well laid out. We had a wedding in Schulenburg and it was perfect for our large extended family, including small children. The bedrooms were large and roomy, and the three baths were very, very nice. The kids loved the family room and all the toys and games. We liked it so much we want to use it again for a long weekend to just get away!

  • Beautiful house with lots of room! Very clean, well furnished, and a well appointed kitchen. Beds were all very comfortable. We weren’t able to take advantage of all the house has to offer as we spent most of our time with family in LaGrange while we were there. Very serene atmosphere. Would be a great place to get together with family to spend the holidays. Great value also for large groups as compared to renting several hotel rooms. We would definitely love to stay here again. Thanks Emily!

    Robin2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Many thanks to Emily for hosting our group! The house was a perfect fit for our needs, and we were very grateful for her quick, thoughtful, and thorough communication throughout our stay. I would absolutely recommend Emily's place for anyone looking to escape to the Texas Hill Country!

Relax and recharge on 200+ tranquil acres, family owned since 1871! Cows, horses, abundant wildlife, plus amazing views of the tank from wrap-around porches will make your visit unforgettable. Our renovated farmhouse is sparkling clean and sanitized, and cozy and welcoming, complete with BBQ pit & outdoor dining - perfect for family meals. For special occasions, our on-site chefs, Callisto Culinary, can prepare a delicious meal for you and your guests - everything from comfort food to gourmet!
A renovated farmhouse, originally built over 100 years ago and relocated here. With shiplap walls and ceiling, and longleaf pine floors, this vintage house had old Czech newspapers used as insulation in the attic. The house has one large bedroom on the first floor and a fun "flop room" upstairs in the finished attic, with lower ceiling, perfect for a slumber party, crash spot or kids space, with multiple beds. Great space for those who are vertically challenged! Again, note that there is no bathroom upstairs and the ceilings are lower as it is a renovated attic space. There are 1 1/2 bathrooms. The full bath in the master bedroom has a soaking tub and a separate shower. The wrap around porch (with the requisite swing!) is a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning or watch the sunset in the evening. A great couple’s get-away!! We are far from city lights, so the stars are simply incredible on a clear night. Twin Oaks Ranch also has a new refined rustic Event Center with a full commercial kitchen, hosting intimate weddings of up to 125 people, house concerts and themed dinners with heavenly dining provided by the award winning Chefs of Callisto Culinary. It’s a beautiful private space in the country with indoor and outdoor seating, large covered porches overlooking the surrounding woods, a beautiful two-way fireplace, ceremony oak arch, and a professional sound system. There is also a beer garden deck tucked under the trees, the perfect shady spot for appetizers and socializing on a hot day. The Guest House at Twin Oaks Ranch is available for the Bridal Suite and lodging for the newlyweds after the festivities conclude. If you are a foodie looking for a beautiful country location for your wedding, reception, party or reunion, this is the perfect spot! From their commercial kitchen, Chefs Michael and Emily Castillo will create an exceptional culinary experience to delight you and your guest! Services available include plated dinners, buffet and family style meals, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts (and cakes!).
We are located centrally between Houston, Austin & San Antonio - easy day trips from the Ranch. Also, the surrounding communities are wonderful and each have their own culture and charm. The local wineries (Majek Vineyard - Lynn & Randy Majek are wonderful!, Whistling Duck Winery, and Blue Mule Winery) are fun to visit, and the Painted Churches are simply beautiful. A beer joint tour is always a hoot too. The Spoetzel Brewery, home of Shiner beer, has tours and a tasting room with all things Shiner. Check their hours before you go. Bluestem is a treasure - bakery, artisianal Texas gifts, wine, grass fed beef and pork, etc! A must see! West of Shiner. Antiques, Arts and Beer is fun stop to explore. Splashway Water park is in nearby Sheridan - fun for the whole family. “Found” in Hallettsville is great for treasure hunting and Tillie’s Cafe in Schulenburg is a great spot for coffee and fresh banana bread or a yummy sandwich. Lots of small town things to do, or just simply enjoy the ranch - fish, explore the woods, play games, build a bonfire for s’mores, watch for shooting stars! - It’s a little piece of heaven out here!
  • This is an Amazingly Beautiful Place!!! Perfect for getting away and enjoying the Peace and Quiet of the Ranch. The house is very cozy and inviting with a wonderful kitchen and a very comfy bed. April has thought of every detail and so much more! She is a very attentive and gracious host. The 360 Porch around the house is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the Dogs, Horses, Cows, and Birds. We miss them All already! And the star gazing is incredible! We went out at 3 A.M. on a clear night after the moon set and saw the Milky Way! We can’t wait to go back!!

  • This place is the best of the best...don't hesitate to book it. I want to keep it Mike and mine's "little secret" but these are good people sharing their family's exquisite bit of Earth and the MIlkyway. We're in love.

  • This place is simply the real deal. With the most gracious, southern hospitality, we were blown away by this hidden gem. There were so many thoughtful extra touches that just made you feel like you were walking into your family member's home for a stay where they have been expecting you. Our family was able to spend such a relaxing time inside the lovely ranch guest home putting together puzzles, eating, resting, and then also made so many incredible memories outside as well. We loved spending time with the ranch dogs, feeding treats to the horses, and our kids caught over a dozen fish on the pond as we sat on the porch swing watching them. Definitely book this place for the perfect relaxing getaway! You will be so glad you did!

  • My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing few days out in the country. We found paradise right here in Texas! If a distinction higher than a SUPER HOST is created April will be the benchmark. Communication was easy and swift about all things. The weather report was rainy and some long awaited road work was to begin so she even gave us the option of opting out of our stay. We are so glad we did not take her up on the offer! As soon as we opened the door to this cozy ranch house we felt at home. This home is SPOTLESS and so fully equipped all we really needed to bring were our clothes. A huge wrap around porch encircles the house. Chairs, a dining table and a most enticing porch swing become your outdoor sanctuary. The master bed is very comfortable. Another couple joined us for a few days and stayed in the upstairs loft and said the same about the bed upstairs. As stated in the homes description, the upstairs loft is just that. It is extra reclaimed attic space with several beds. Perfect for children or adults that don't mind a low ceiling. Both toilets are downstairs so take that into account as well. A half bath is adjacent to the kitchen and a full bath with double sinks, tub, shower stall and commode area are ensuite to the master bedroom. The kitchen and pantry are well equipped for any culinary skills you wish to use. A propane Weber grill is available on the back porch as well. The breakfast room looks out onto the property where you can enjoy watching all the wonderful ranch life or playing a rousing game of your choice. We spent some very relaxing days and nights in this wonderful home. We not only walked the property but were given the use of April and Craigs six person Viking utility vehicle to roam the acreage as well. It is a working ranch so horses, cows and the three ranch dogs are never far away. We brought our dog as well. All the dogs had great fun with their own visiting and running around outside. There a treats for the horses if you want a more up close and personal encounter with them! As evening fell we made fires in the wood burning stove in the living room that kept us warm and toasty on a cold winters night. As the days went on the weather cleared and we enjoyed the splendor of the big and bright stars of the night, deep in the heart of Texas! If you are looking for a relaxing get away in a lovely ranch home in a small Texas town with hosts that have hearts as big as Texas you have come to the right place! Next my grandchildren will have to come and try their skills in the fishing pond as well! Thank you April and Craig ~ this is just what we needed!

  • Lovely home on the inside, but the best part of our trip was sitting on the porch swing relaxing. Our teenagers loved the ranch dogs and watching the horses and cattle graze past. So much Texas hospitality. Thank you!

  • My family and I had an amazing time at the ranch. The house is goals!!! The property is picturesque and relaxing. The location right off 77 between Hallettsville and Schulenburg is perfect. I can’t say enough good things. I never write Airbnb reviews but I made it a point to do one for this property.

    Brittany2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place to stay for visiting the area or just relaxing. Very attentive hosts and a perfect setting for “checking out.” Our 3 boys took over the upstairs while we enjoyed the comfort of the first floor. Sounds trivial but it made a huge difference and a great weekend getaway.

Beautiful country setting; get out of the city and enjoy mountain bike riding, long distance road bike riding or kayaking and boating, fishing or swimming. You are renting a space for a tent, a shared large fire pit, access to the river, and a few spots to hang hammocks. Bring your own tent. There are islands on the river to camp on if you chose to kayak out to them. I have two Kayaks to rent. Great place to relax and enjoy small town culture . This is primitive camping at its best
The camping space is located on land that has a home which is also used for Airbnb. It is unique land located next to the Colorado River. Great fishing, Kayaking and near RoundTop for their annual antique shows. The price is per person and may accommodate 16 or more people.
Pure country living; rustic. one neighbor is messy but it won’t effect you once you’re on the property. Nice neighbors. It’s rustic backwoods country folk.
  • Nice place to camp for the night. Nenita was very responsive even though we contacted her quite late at night. It’s a beautiful area.

Have you ever stayed in an A frame house ? People are always amazed at how much bigger it is inside ! This house sleeps 9-11. This two bedroom, two bath house has balconies off of both bedrooms. One in front of the house & one in the back. You will find a great covered porch off of the back and the yard has shade trees everywhere. Just 10 minutes off of I-10 between San Antonio (1 1/2 hrs) and Houston (1 1/2 hrs) & just south of Austin (1 hr). Newly remodeled downstairs & features a fireplace.
Two good size bedrooms upstairs and a full bath and downstairs has an office niche and a sitting area adjacent to the main TV area as well as a dining space and breakfast area. Downstairs has been completely remodeled from its 1960's beginning into 2019. Close to Smithville and La Grange and Flatonia and all roads lead to Austin, La Grange, Houston, or just stay here and get away from it all.
Rural, with a pond and livestock grazing in the back property behind our fence. Large oaks in the front and back of the house. A covered patio and a porch swing and outside seating. You can take quiet walks on the dirt roads. Surrounded by ranches and wild life.
  • I was looking for a place to get away to rest and study and this was the perfect place. I saw nothing but cows and donkeys, the two balconies were great to sit out on during the mornings and evenings, the house was large and extremely well stocked. It certainly exceeded expectations.

  • Lovely country stay with amazing views of the night sky! This was a perfect getaway for our group, half living in Houston and the other half in San Antonio. There was ample bedding to comfortably support seven of us, a fire pit for star gazing, and a level of quiet that cannot be appreciated until you experience it (especially if you are accustomed to city life). There was also lots of wonderful touches that made us all feel at home immediately. I highly recommend Patricia’s.

One of the most beautiful views in Shiner. We have country dogs (red healers) Ruby Red the loves to play fetch! We have 5 Nigerian Dwarf goats. There are ducks on the front pond that love our guest!
Neighbors are not a bother and only friendly neighbors may wave if they are seen.
  • I grew up on a farm so this was the best experience for me and the kids. They spent most of the day outside while I did homework and made meals. Afternoon walks were always amazing because the dogs accompanied us. So well behaved! We loved the location, accommodations, and the beautiful home. We are already planning to return after all of this is over. We love the Byrd's Nest!

  • Very nice, modern and beautifully decorated place out in a country. Wow, we didn't expect to find a stylish and comfortable place far out from a city that has everything, it's literally a home away from home and much more. So many thoughtful and nice touches throughout the home. Great appliances, plenty of plates, cups, utensils, spice, outdoor shower and the best part, the hosts and the animals. Marty and James are such gracious and kind hosts. Very friendly and wonderful people. Their farm animals also make this place so special. The scenery is gorgeous and peaceful. A pure bliss here.

  • Staying at the Byrds Nest was a magical experience. Shiner is a small town, and the location of stay is about 2 miles outside of that so it gives you enough distance to enjoy the texas country experience. The animals at the location are a great experience, and the hosts were perfect at making us feel right at home. We felt like we were part of their family without any intrusion. Will definitely come again for another Texas Country Style getaway.

  • My best friend and I booked Terri's cabin for a girls' weekend in the Hill Country. We were beyond pleased with the accommodations and amenities - Terri did a fabulous job renovating the cabin into a charming, welcoming, safe, and comfortable vacation space. Checking in and out went smoothly and she was always available for questions and recommendations (Don't forget to try her restaurant, Orsak's Cafe, in town - it is delicious!). I will definitely book Terri's cabin again.

Maeshill Farm is a small working cattle farm. The homesteader house is very rustic and charming. Between La Grange town center and Schulenburg it is near antique shopping at Roundtop, historic dancehalls and the painted churches of Fayette County.
1890s Farmhouse in La Grange Texas is very private and situated on 130 acres. There are two bedrooms and an open plan kitchen, dining room and living area. There is a screened porch at the front of the house with an eating area and a bathroom off the porch. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has 2 twin beds. The attic has twin beds and a futon. There are porches on 3 sides of the house with seating on all of them. The area has a dance hall at Swiss Alp and the painted churches of Fayette county. La Grange town square has a farmers market on Saturday morning and a variety of interesting shops. The farmhouse is very old and has air conditioning and heating but the house is poorly insulated so house ac and heating are somewhat limited. Having said that it is on a hill and there is great ventilation and always a nice breeze.
It is very peaceful and quiet. We are near the antique markets at Round Top, 2 dancehalls, historic town squares and Texas charm. The painted churches of Fayette Country are all nearby. In the Springtime the area is full of Texas wildflowers perfect for photos or to just enjoy.
  • I have always been fascinated with history and old homes and this house made my heart so happy. From the wooden floors, to the porches with incredible views, to the doors with antique knobs and latches it was all just perfect. Ann has tastefully decorated the house in a way that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, but with all the amenities you need to not feel like you are really roughing it. We brought our dog and teenager, both of which are not always the easiest to please and both gave it two thumbs up. (We did bring our own WiFi hotspot which helped our teenager like it a little more!). Ann made the experience so easy and communicated from the moment we booked through the end of our stay. She made great recommendations and made us feel right at home. I will count this as one of my favorite spots to visit and hope to return someday!!

  • A true country farm experience. Private, beautiful, quaint, and close to town.

    Margaret2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and quiet farmhouse not far from the Round top antique fair. Host is very friendly and helpful.

    Joyce2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's farmhouse is just that... a beautifully restored farmhouse in the middle of cow pastures. The views define bucolic and the history of the house was very much respected. Only an hour for Austin airport, half an hour or so from Roundtop... and you feel so far from the crowds, it was lovely. Highly recommend.

    Hannah2019-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent much of 2018 on the road as we try to find the perfect place for the next chapter of our lives. In the course of our travels we have stayed at many Airbnb locations and our experience has been for the most part very positive. However, as good as our previous arrangements have been, this was far and away our favorite. Ann’s Airbnb is a Texas farmhouse built in the 1800s that has been restored in recent years. While you immediately are taken by its Western charm, you are also provided with the typical modern comforts. The beds are comfortable, the shower warm and overall the house is spacious and bright. And this is just the beginning. Outside you are surrounded by acres of grazing land with cows lazily moving about, barns and sheds that only add to the feel, and complete privacy. We woke up in the morning to the orange sunrise lighting up the horizon before us, a cool breeze across the plains as we watched the cows slowly appear off in the distance. Just idyllic. And on a scale of 1-10, our host Ann was about a 22. Responsive, pleasant and prompt; there should be a category somewhere above Super Host for her. We loved it there and hope to be back in the Spring. From the house to the surrounding property to the host, we give this the highest recommendation. Thank you Ann!

    Martin2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the farmhouse setting with views out of every window with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The white shiplap walls with wood floors and high ceilings made the farmhouse feel so spacious. We cooked food for a nearby family gathering and the kitchen was large enough for 3 people to prep and cook in. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels for our crew of 4. We loved that it is dog friendly.

    Pat2018-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful country setting with interesting older farmhouse.

    Charlene2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a last minute stay, so our host got little notice to prepare. Even so, the house was in perfect shape and ready for us. It’s just what you’d imagine an old farmhouse to be, but with central AC and an updated kitchen! It’s got lots of room, comfortable beds, plenty of homey touches. We had everything we needed for a wonderfully relaxing weekend. We sat on the porch swing and watched the cows in the field, walked to the pond to see the frogs, played with the barn cats, and saw the stars at night. There are some great restaurants with a 15 minute drive. Our host gave us excellent suggestions and communicated with us quickly on other questions we had. I would definitely recommend this home and host!

What does road trip gas cost? A nice meal? How about any run of the mill road side big chain hotel? A nice state park camp site? For about the same as these..without the noisy neighbors, traffic, rules, rangers you get exclusivity. An entire camp comes with this listing, wood burning hot tub, pizza oven, miles and miles of creek to explore (No people), endless sandbars to sun bathe on. This place is not high volume, it is high value, for the right people, you know who you are.
This is still camping folks, no power. BRING YOUR OWN SLEEPING GEAR (There is a comforter and pillows that will be clean but you should bring a sleeping bag or sheets or something) as if you were camping.... If you like camping and would like to not pitch a tent then this is the space for you. If you are an active outdoors person or couple and are looking for a very different place to get away to for the weekend...not too far from the city...then look no further. I do not rent the camp site to others while the tree house is rented so you get the whole area. If you would like to rent the camp site for other guests then contact me. Otherwise, the tree house is for those looking for peace and quite. This is like a private state park, no rangers, no other guests.Update: Our two sons have started their own little businesses! Kelly (yes...the Kelly that Kelly's Korner is named after :) is selling bundled firewood for $8/bundle. Max is selling fresh farm eggs and veggies. He will also be more than happy to give you a tour of his garden and have you pick your own veggies and/or fruit! Contact Matt or Gina at 281-725-7911
This is a wild neighborhood...wild with animals :) The only people you are likely to meet are me and my family.
  • Great place to get off the grid, we enjoyed our weekend getaway. Was able to kayak, use the pizza oven, and enjoy the great view. Cabin over looks a creek that has great bird watching. The tree house it’s self is very simple well placed for enjoyment. As stated in the description, this is a camping trip without a tent. Meaning bring your own drinking water, flashlights, camping gear, and be prepared to use an out-house. With that said, a trip here is worth your time if you have an ounce of adventure in you.

  • This was my first ever camping experience, EVER! I loved that it was private and we had the whole place to ourselves! It was so great waking up to the sounds of the rustling leaves and flowing creek in the comfort of our private treehouse. I juuuuust posted some pictures on my social media page and already a few people have reached out to ask me about Matt’s treehouse!

  • We had a great time in the tree house! Matt was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. The creek is lovely and has excellent swimming spots. We also loved the kayaks. Definitely would stay again!

  • Matt is a great host. An individual with complete professionalism and attentive to his guests' needs. The location as well as the entire surrounding is heavenly. Matt's creation of this hospitable space is nothing less than artistic. All in all it was a great experience and I am sure I will visit Matt's tree house again and again. Thank you so much Matt for being such a wonderful host.

  • This place is simply magical! From the treehouse, to the pizza oven, to the kayaks, we had the best of time enjoying what this space has to offer. Like others have said this is still camping! So be sure to bring any creature comforts you can’t live without it. Don’t miss out on this amazing stay!

    Samantha2019-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house in Columbus is perfect for those wanting to truly disconnect. Well, almost. You will find plenty of cell service in this remote tree house. The space is exactly what the pictures look like. Remote, primitive, and outdoors. You will be doing everything outdoors including going to the restroom and collecting firewood...especially in the colder months which we decided to do. The cold rainy weather was not an issue with the amenities available. Covered pizza kitchen. Covered Tree house. Covered "outhouse." You will not get too wet since there are plenty of covered spaces to hang out under. Bring warm clothes and towels for the wood burning bath. Give the BATH EXTRA TIME TO HEAT UP BUT NOT TOO MUCH! It took a while for the water to get FULLY hot. The top layer was super hot but when you reach your hand down to the bottom, you will feel the difference. We mixed the water and I would say a good 5 hours of warming time would be enough. to take a good warm bath in 40-50 degree weather. Obviously, it takes less time to warm up in warmer weather. Free wine bottle and glasses! What a nice touch. The property has very little public access and the only neighbors we had were the cattle, chickens, nutria, birds, and other Texas wildlife. We also saw a calf being birthed! It was a cool experience and we will definitely be back. Perfect place for big groups as well. Matt was a very accommodating host and is has a few good stories to share. Thanks for a great experience.

  • Before arriving, go into town and get what you need, because once you arrive, you'll want to experience the peacefulness and serenity to the fullest. It was like I was 5 again on my dad's farm. The entire experience was amazing. I would meditate at the pond in the afternoon and it was exactly what we all needed during this crazy time. The animals became our friends and were a part of our daily walks. They provided plenty if things for the kids to do and even taught them new things about farm life. I have stayed at numerous airbnb locations and have always needed a pan or a kitchen gadget that wasn't available. You will never need or want for anything at this location. The Byrd's have thought of everything! I hope to make it out again very soon. Hopefully this virus will pass over sooner rather than later. God bless! 🧿
