Enjoy an escape by the sea in this unique rough-luxe beach shack in the Lake District National Park, and rediscover the simple life on the shores of the Irish Sea. Snug interiors, crashing waves and the starriest of night skies makes this private seaside beach cabin complete with bubbly hot-tub the most inspiring of seaside retreats. **CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - Please be aware that our housekeeper is amazing. Nicola always uses anti-bacterial cleaner and she always disinfects high touch areas**
Combining varnished wooden floors with snug wraps & blankets, bleached clapboard exteriors and an indulgent off-grid charm, Lachra is the epitome of seaside getaways. This unique self-catering beach cabin, popular with couples and mini-mooners in search of a romantic retreat, or a seaside base from which to explore Wainwright's fells, is the perfect place to reconnect with the important things in life. When the sun melts into the Irish Sea in a blaze of orange glory, sip crisp white wine on the decking or in the hot tub after a good days walk, and watch sequinned skies blanket the horizon. Bedrooms and Bathroom The cosy bedroom space in the loft at Lachra boasts a double futon bed adorned with squishy cushions, thick blankets and the finest of linens to ensure a blissful night’s sleep. Downstairs is a cosy twin bedroom with wonderful views over the beach and the sea. The small separate shower-room is perfect for washing off sandy bodies after a day on the beach. Outside Perched on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and right on the beachfront, Lachra is a mile from the small village of Silecroft where the local pub boasts log fires, a range of real ales and locally sourced food from the Lake District. The beach at Silecroft is one of the finest beaches in the UK; grab a glass of wine, submerge yourself in the hot tub and watch the surfers battle the westerlies or the horse riders as they take to the beach. Lachra's garden is large enough and safe enough for older kids to pitch a tent or two, but not so large that they can't hear you call when it's time for tea! Dogs will love the beach at low tide and are very welcome at Lachra.
Lachra is located on the edge of the Lake District National Park. For breathtaking Autumn colours and mountainous views, drive to the market towns of Coniston (20 mins), Ambleside (45 mins) and Keswick (1 hour). The best steak restaurant in Cumbria is a 2 mile walk away, and the best fish and chips can be found in Haverigg, and eaten overlooking the stunning Duddon Estuary.
  • We loved the location and the quirkiness of the cabin! The hot tub was an amazing experience next to the freezing sea! Our fur baby thoroughly enjoyed it too, we will most definitely look forwards to another stay in the future, this is a stay worth checking out, perfect for a quiet weekend away for two ...

  • We had such a wonderful stay at this little lodge on the beach. It is cosy and warm even when it's blowing a gale outside, and the hot tub is such a treat after a day exploring the beautiful local area. The accommodation is very clean and is a great use of space. It is also very well-stocked and the hosts left Prosecco, sausages and other treats for our arrival! We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and will definitely be back!

  • My partner and I stayed here for two nights and can’t describe how beautiful Lachra is. It has everything you want and more! The hot tub, the scenery, the amenities - everything was spectacular. If you’re thinking about booking, don’t hesitate. You’ll thank yourself when you see it!

Our roundhouse is on a working farm with Swaledale and Blackfaced sheep and heavy horses (which you can book to ride!) in a beautiful valley in south west Cumbria. It has amazing views, a stream running nearby, is peaceful with good interior facilities. Close to us are a variety of good pub/restaurants (would recommend having a car though). You’ll love our roundhouse, it is unique, cosy, romantic, has a stunning location, and is good for couples, friends, outdoor folk, and we take dogs.
Our personally made beautiful roundhouse (NB new roof November 2016!) is set in an idyllic location in the south west corner of the Lake District National Park on a working farm. The combination of soft wood and circular shape creates a very relaxing place - with the wood burning stove and dined lights it can be both practical (it has full electric and water) and very romantic! It has a lovely big bed for two, if more can sleep 4/5; the kitchen is fully appointed (induction hob, toaster, kettle microwave and fridge!) and sink with hot water. The showers and toilets are outside the Roundhouse only 20m away and immaculately clean. Enjoy!
There are many local amazing things to both see and do. Right on site you have award winning Cumbrian Heavy Horses, where you can ride a magnificent heavy horse, Shires, Clydesdales, and four other pure bred heavy horse breeds. We also have the sheep but they are best as a spectator sport (watching us run around them is very entertaining !!) as well as a myriad of walks, up onto both Black and White Combe and a walk through to Swinside Stone Circle can both be accessed from base. For steam buffs we have the narrow guage line at Muncaster (Ravenglass) to Boot, the L'al Ratty, and the larger steam trains at Haverthwaite, which run between there and the Aquarium. The South Lakes Wildlife Park is 25 mins away and is amazing to see, and there are various museums, and in general, walks galore, with Grizebeck Forest for Mountain Biking, Lakes for kayaking and sailing, gondola steam boats on Lake Windermere, with easy access through to the Central Lakes. Just up the coast from us you have Muncaster Castle with it's Owls and Falconry demonstrations too. So much to do, or you can just chill out!
  • Beautiful quiet base to enjoy and explore the lake district. Everything we could have wanted was there. Annie communicated great with us but we were left to our own devices and had space which was much appreciated Would recommend and will be returning to stay again. Thank you xx

    Tracy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fab location. Scenery is beautiful and Annie is super friendly. Really want to go back when the weather is better. Highly recommended

    Simon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Annie's place. The location was BEAUTIFUL and Annie is very accommodating. It is a perfect, cozy place with lovely walks and scenery. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to the Lakes!

    Lea2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem! Beautiful little roundhouse, close to a main road but silent (apart from the odd animal)... lots of chickens, sheep, horses, cats and two beautiful soft collie dogs on site! Annie couldn’t have done any more for us - most accommodating and helpful. The round house was our first experience of glamping and even on some drizzly January days it was very comfortable, warm and dry! We will definitely be back!

If you want some well earned rest and relaxation in a picture postcard village, Combe Cottage makes an excellent choice. Within touching distance is The Miners Arms - good food, good beer and good local hospitality on the doorstep. The railway station is very handy for a train ride up the west coast or for shopping in Carlisle. A short scenic amble away will see you arrive at Silecroft beach - miles of sandy beach, a beautiful ocean with waves crashing on the shore, and a fabulous beach café.
Combe Cottage is in the shadow of the great Black Combe which is just short of a mountain, and is the best place in the UK to see all five kingdoms - England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and The Isle of Man. It's very popular locally and quite demanding at times. You may see four seasons in one day as you walk to the summit. You can walk and bike around the coast for 20 miles – there is a secure storage space available at Combe Cottage. There are also two mountain bikes available for guest use which you will find already in the secure storage space to the side of the cottage. A lovely rural setting – Combe Cottage, nestled snuggly within this small and friendly village results in a welcoming, cosy spot, very comfortably furnished and providing a great base to explore farther afield or simply enjoy what there is to do - which is plenty - on the doorstep.
Combe Cottage is situated in a very attractive small village, with the local pub a minutes walk away, the railway station very handy, a short and scenic stroll takes you to a fabulous beach where you will find miles of sandy beach to walk on and a lovely beach cafe's home cooked food to sample.

  • We stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful and lovingly decorated space. It was light and airy and very clean. The location is amazing and right on the beachfront. The little touches of the wine, chocolate and fire wood were greatly appreciated and the wood burner in the evening was warm and cosy. It’s a perfect base to explore the beautiful Lake District and we will 100% stay again if we visit.

Our home ' Pebble cottage' is located in the Lake District national park's beautiful quiet village of Silecroft where the mountains and the sea are on the door step. With three wainwright fells a stroll away, close to Muncaster Castle, ravenglass railway and voted Britain's greatest view 'wasdale screes'.
Pebble Cottage is in the middle of four terraced houses with a character country pub for food and drink, two minutes stroll away. The cottage is tastefully decorated in a mix of vintage and modern furniture with a local slate real open fire in the living room. The fitted kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a home from home stay ( including a microwave). The bathroom has a bath with over the bath shower and towels. There are two seperate toilets. Following feedback from guests there is now wifi in the cottage and tv/dvd player in the lounge. We do not allow pets. With or without a car you can really embrace the country life with walks straight from the door either along the Cumbrian Coastal Path or to the top of Black Coombe. Silecroft beach is 10 mins stroll down the road with beautiful views. Tesco and Asda home delivery service is available. Tesco is one stop, just 5 minutes away on the train in Millom.
Silecroft, in the Lake District national park, is a quiet little village nestled between a stunning beach and wainwright's favourite mountain viewpoint....Blackcombe. There is a nine hole golf course next to the beach with a public bar. The Miners arms is a real ale country pub with great food, lovely ambience and pool table and darts. On the beach there is currently a cafe and public toilets. A Tennis and basketball court with playground, swings, slide, picnic tables is open all year for public use. • Pebble Cottage is beautiful; the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in! A good base for the local area. Make sure you go down to the beach - it’s huge and very impressive. The Miners Arms do a good pub grub dinner.

  • Another great stay at Andy & Toni's cottage, the new shower room is great. We all had a great weekend and we will be back next year.

    Steve2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed in Andy's place in Silecroft for 4 nights, and loved every minute of it. We had a rough outline of what we wanted to do, but Andy's tips and the plethora of maps and information in the cottage meant we were spoiled for choice. We had two sunny days: we climbed Black Combe on one and went to see the Dalegarth falls via the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway on the other. Both were fantastic. Even on the day it rained we walked back from Million along the coast. We travelled from London on the train, which was very easy as the station is practically on the doorstep, and the regular trains make getting to other towns along the coast really easy - it's an ideal location. The cottage itself is lovely, the kitchen very well equipped, there are plenty of games for entertainment, and lots of nice touches that allowed us to relax and really enjoy ourselves. Thanks for making it such a great holiday!

    Roland2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really nice and cosy house. Everything is there for a comfortable stay. Nice walks and a great pub (2 minutes walk! Station around the corner. Sea in walking distance

  • We spent a week here in the summer and managed to see lots of beautiful spots in the Lake District (only a 40 minute drive to many) as well as some beautiful beach walks and sunsets (less than a mile away)! The location was rural, peaceful and very lovely. The cottage is well equipped for a week’s holiday, plus some very thoughtful extras like maps, information books, board games, tennis racquets (courts a 2 minute walk away), a range of drinks glasses and some lovely smelling hand soap!! Thank you Andy and Toni for a lovely place to holiday!

    Hannah2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • very well located to discover the Lake district. What a wonderful beach!

    Françoise2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first (but certainly not our last) trip to the Lake District ❣️ Pebble cottage was immaculately clean and so welcoming. A perfect base to our 2019 adventures. We went on walks, guided by the hosts’ helpful information and leaflets. The beautiful beach is a short stroll or cycle away and we were lucky enough to sit and watch some beautiful sunsets. A peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and a welcome break from the hustle bustle of our daily lives.

    Nichola2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pebble cottage was lovely to stay in & perfect for exploring the area. It has literally everything you need for a relaxing break. The beach is minutes away so if your feet are tired from walking all day, you can kick your boots off and paddle in the cool sea. A 45 minute drive to Wasdale to climb Scaffel Pike and to visit Beatrix Potters house. Andy & Toni were great to communicate with and the key fob to get in etc was very simple. Silecroft is a quiet village so it was lovely to come back each night and relax. The cottage gets the late afternoon/evening sun so the chairs outside are perfect to sit on with a glass of wine 😊 Would recommend 👍

  • Owain's place is an amazing find; quirky, cosy, we felt immediately at home and had such a relaxing stay. We loved all the artwork, the log burner, the peace, the thoughtful touches about the place, from the fantastically equipped kitchen to the books and games and extra coats and kindling and we will definitely return. Millom is a friendly, slow-paced place with some wonderful scenery on the doorstep from empty beaches to stone circles and windswept fells. A great place to recharge.

  • Where do I start? Firstly the pictures don't do the place justice! It's much better when you see it in person. It's perfectly located for walks or exploring the lake district. Owain really has thought of everything. He went above and beyond when it came to the little touches and the extras that were included. Check in and out was super easy and the accommodation is cute, cozy and stylish. After freezing cold walks in the nature reserve just 10 mins walk away, we were able to sit round a log fire with a coffee to warm up. The shop is 5 mins walk and it's only about 50 mins to Windermere. For those of you who want to go for somthing to eat out of Millom, we found a fantastic pub called The Black Cock Inn about 15 mins drive away in the village of Broughton! Cannot praise this place enough; Owain is doing a fantastic job!

  • A nice cosy home for a few days away and handy for everything the Lake District has to offer with the added bonus of being near the beach and coast line.

    Graham2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant place in a great location at an exceptional price. Everybody in the area is so friendly and Owain has created a nice little haven which my partner and I will most definitely be coming back to

    Neil2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Just as from home to home... Place was lovely and clean... Thank you x

  • Owains place is definitely recommend, quite a small house yet spacious rooms and cosy. It’s perfect and quiet despite being across the road from a school. On street parking where my car was fine. It’s very clean, tidy and smells good when walking in the house. Nice bathroom and shower and loved the king size bed. Owain was very helpful to my questions and responded quickly. Overall I had a great time here and was more than happy with this Airbnb, I would definitely recommend and return again myself. There is not a lot to do as it’s a small town but it was exactly what I was looking for just to get away for a bit, also his neighbour are very friendly and were only happy to point out some local places.

    Reilly2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this as a last min get away for me and my friend as we wanted to go to the South lakes zoo, this was 35 mins drive away. Everything was better than expected, cute little place, very cosy, warm and comfortable. It's near a tesco and a pub, 15 mins drive into another little town with more pubs. Defo booking again, great value for money and great communication from owain.

Tucked away up a track on the edge of the National Park, it's peaceful and quiet here. A great base for exploring the beautiful mountains and coast of the western Lake District, and within easy reach of the busier areas of the central Lakes. Or you can stay put and enjoy the house and large garden surrounded by fields and mountains, with panoramic views of the hills. There's a barbeque you can use, and during the summer months there's even a little hot tub.
A private entrance leads from the back of the house directly into the guest accommodation. This includes your own kitchen, downstairs toilet, and your own lounge / dining room complete with wood burning stove. The guest bedroom and guest bathroom are upstairs. These rooms are all just for your use. Please note, the house only has one staircase so the hallway and stairs are shared usage with us.
Mountains, beaches, beautiful views and a good local pub within walking distance. A lovely area tucked away from the busy tourist traffic, within easy reach of the central lakes.
  • We had a great time at Phil and Sarah. Spotlessly clean and their local knowledge of the area and the natural surrounds was a bonus. Perfect location ,couldn't have asked for more.

    Elazar2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Sarah are lovely, thoughtful people, that lives in a lovely, peaceful place. I stayed here for 20 days for work. You’ll get a bedroom, shower room/ toilet, kitchen and livingroom all to yourself, with a fireplace which was my highlight of everyday there, and 2nd was opening the curtains to see sheep’s nearby my window (only to run away when they saw me). Phil and Sarah were great host, made me feel welcome, and was always willing to help. It’s the little things that went a long way for me, for instance, there were essential supplies in the kitchen like bread, butter, eggs, tea and coffee on the day i checked in, which saved me doing some late shopping as that was the last thing I wanted to do after hours of driving, and there was another occasion when phil and Sarah heard me coughing all night from a cold, that following morning there was a packet of lemsip with a note on the kitchen table, again saving me a trip and hassle of getting one myself. I have absolutely no complaints about my time here, lovely people, nice clean rooms, a pristine shower room, very peaceful and cosy once you get the fireplace going.

    Chiraag2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Very homey with everything we needed. We especially loved that the fire was waiting burning for us each night. Phil and Sarah were very nice and willing to offer advice for the area. They live in a separate part of the house so it felt like a private place. Would recommend.

    Emma2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic, perfect and secluded. Outstanding hospitality. Would highly recommend to anyone. Great hosts.

    Anthony2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous hospitality and a warm welcome. Stunning views surrounding the house and beyond . The house itself was spotlessly clean and warm and cosy. We had everything we needed and more. Sarah and Phil had very thoughtfully provided bread, milk, tea, coffee, butter, jam and eggs which we enjoyed for our breakfasts! The bed was so comfy. The lounge was warm and cosy with the wood burner. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, so relaxing and fabulous to take in the nights sky stargazing! A truly magical place with twinkling lights above the rockery. Owls hooting in the trees. A fabulous find and one we will be returning to to explore the beautiful scenery of the nearby countryside and coastline, simply stunning.

    Elizabeth2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very pleasant stay with Phil and Sarah. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was a welcome addition to the facilities, especially after a day on horseback. The location is wonderful too.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. The room itself is large and airy, very clean, plenty of hanging and drawer space and very comfortable. The sink and toilet are across the corridor but no one else uses it and there is a key lock. The breakfast room is well stocked and there are lots of extras available for other times. The views from the house are magnificent. Carol and her husband are excellent hosts. I loved it here and hope I have the opportunity to return one day.

    Penny2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and serene. Carol and David are lovely, personable hosts and have thought of everything their guests would need for added comfort. Incredible value for money too! David also gave us local tips and was very informative. They were attentive to all their guests needs and yet still gave us plenty of privacy. The self-serve breakfast was an added bonus. Felt like home away from home! X

They provide breakfast and a lovely quiet space. The value is superb for the beautiful and peaceful location. Their communication was great and one night was not enough time there. Many thanks for the hospitality and always recommend this beautiful and clean space.

Traditional mixed with newly renovated modern, the result is a fab, cosy spot - enjoy the views, explore farther afield or enjoy what there is to do on the doorstep. Stunning views of the landscape in every direction. Located around a mile down a narrow road to the farm, the cottage sits in sublime peace and quiet.
A heavenly retreat for couples be it for a beach holiday, a walking holiday, a romantic getaway, or to celebrate a special occasion - Stable Cottage will exceed expectations.
Stable Cottage in Silecroft, on the western coast of Cumbrian has stunning views of the landscape in every direction, and situated as it is, a real panoramic vista is there in front of you all the time - and yet, very little in the way of people. Located about a mile down a narrow road to the farm, most people would probably never think to make the turning, and so the cottage sits in its own surrounding splendour, in sublime peace and quiet. Stable Cottage, easily accessible, and yet a world away from it all. We really do think this cottage is going to be a favourite of couples, and there are also good pubs available within walking distance where you can enjoy a good meal at a reasonable price.
  • ABSOLUTE BLISS This place is a dream. From the beautiful cottage, to the views and the local beach. Just stunning and everything you could need for a stay. We spent Christmas here and Amanda has even popped up a tree for us. Just everything made our stay perfect. Everything you need to cook dinner. And all you need to relax, even down to soft fluffy robes. Would and have highly recommended. Also great communication and hospitality.

  • We had a comfortable stay at Nigel’s place. The van was warm enough, beds were comfortable and the WiFi worked perfectly. We found the book with information on places to eat out helpful as not everywhere is open everyday. The facilities are there if you want to cook and we did for breakfast and lunch. Would certainly use it again and recommend it to other family members.

  • Very sweet cottage in Millom. My friend and I were travelling to Lake District for the first time and while we weren’t lucky with the weather, we loved having Yvonne’s place to cosy up in. The cottage is very clean and has a full kitchen. 1.5hr drive from Keswick and 1hr drive from Ambleside. Would recommend having a car if staying here. There is an amazing view from the deck and the perfect place to have your morning coffee. Yvonne was a kind and attentive host and responded quickly to all our messages! • Luke's place is spotlessly clean and in a good location for exploring the south west portion of the Lake District. His communication was prompt and the description of the accommodation accurate. I'd have no problem recommending Luke's place.

  • Amazing place! Everything that we needed was there (even little things like dishwasher tablets). One of the things I love and appreciate when I stay at air B&B.

    Liga2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • My 2 friends and I went to stay at Luke's place when we went to climb Scarfell Pike last weekend, and we just thought we were booking a modest place to put our heads down. We couldn't believe it when we stepped into this beautiful 4 floor house. The bedrooms are massive, light filled and sparkling clean; and the house is both stylishly furnised and homely. The photos just do not do it justice at all. On top of this, the hosts are lovely and so easy to communicate with. We were having problems fixing the TV on the Saturday night and one of them dropped into to fix the problem personally for us - we couldn't believe it. Thank you for such a lovely and memorable weekend.

  • Lukes’s place in Millom is outstanding. The house is a fun 4 levels, so lots of stairs which we loved, but just to be aware of. It is incredibly beautifully remodeled and decorated in a white, airy, modern spacious style which was beyond our expectations. The kitchen is just wonderful, the home is immaculate and everything is delightful and refreshing. We couldn’t recommend it more highly. Amanda, who graciously received us even though we arrived late at night, was over the top hospitable and fun. There is also a local stone circle on a walk just a few minute from the village! Beautiful area. Loved it.

  • It's excellent place so stay with a family or friends. We had brilliant time. Luke's mum was very nice and kind. Place was much more better than we expected. Everything what you need and more. Clean, shiny, pretty interior. Two nights was not enough for us, kids asked to stay forever :)) Thank you for a great time and experience. x

3 St Lukes, a very spacious, comfortable terraced property, nestled literally on the edge of the sea in Haverigg, on the western coast of Cumbria. Once arrived, guests can be forgiven for feeling like they are in the middle of tranquil countryside. Lovely garden areas, private parking, a very peaceful environment, and Haverigg Beach just a five minute walk away. Golden sands, a beach cafe, and lovely walks round the sea wall. Great for couples, families and pets, lots of room for the cost.
I think the fact you can stroll down to the beach and be on the dunes in 5 minutes is a unique aspect of this holiday home. It is also a very large old terraced, and so a lot of space is available for couples and families and dogs to all spend quality time together with plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Haverigg is a small seaside village really with a main street, and 3 St Lukes is situated off this main street. The main street is comprised of terraced properties and pubs and businesses, so you walk past a couple of good pubs and a very good fish and chip shop on the way to the beach. There is also a good beach cafe at Haverigg beach itself.
  • Great place to stay can highly recommend staying there.

  • Amanda’s place was very homely and perfect for us with our dogs to walk and explore the local walks. Two fabulous places to eat, the King Billy for South African steaks and Da Vinci for a lovely Italian. We had a lovely time st the Port Haverigg marina where we could walk around the sea wall and marina which has lots of wildlife and a fabulous cafe/restaurant called Herdwicks. A memorable stay Thank you Amanda

Located down a private farm track within the stunning Lake District National Park, The Hayloft, a lovingly constructed studio apartment is a hidden treasure, sitting in a secluded position boasting stunning views and a hot tub with privacy screening, fairy lights and a nighttime carpet of stars due to such low pollution. The hot tub is shared with neighbouring accommodation, The Byre. Beautifully renovated, character combined with modern conveniences, the result is a fab bijou spot for two.
A variety of good traditional Lakes pubs, restaurants and takeaways are within touching distance (The Hayloft has a kitchenette with kettle, microwave/oven combination, fridge and crockery). Walking from the door is a must, the Swinside Stone Circle is within walking distance, and an additional barn is available to guests to use as a drying room, or to store bicycles etc. The Hayloft resides in the shadow of the great Black Combe which is just short of a mountain. Black Combe is the best place in the UK to see the five kingdoms, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and The Isle of Man. Cumbrian Heavy Horses are literally just around the corner, and Murthwaite Green Trekking Centre is a five minute drive. As are the beaches at Silecroft or Haverigg and not forgetting Silecroft golf course, which is also situated next to the coast. Eskdale golf course, also quite nearby, is a private 18 hole course. There is a Hayloft Trail around the land surrounding the property, ideal for dog walking or just a gentle amble around the surrounding fields in the evening.
The photographs will make it easy to imagine the sublime peace and quiet, and yet it is even better in real life. Once you've explored the fells on your doorstep you may want to venture a little further afield - Coniston's Old Man or Dow Crag. Attempting Scafell Pike from the Wasdale end is truly breathtaking. Keen cyclists will likely know of Grizedale Forest and its miles of cycle paths, and there's a 'Go-Ape' there too for the thrill seekers! Food and pub options as mentioned are not limited, there's the Punch Bowl close by, the Black Cock Inn and The Old Kings Head in Broughton, The Blacksmiths in Broughton Mills, Da Vinci (Italian) and The Clocktower in Millom - details of all these are supplied to guests within the booking information. The Hayloft is also situated next to its sister accommodation, The Byre - so if two couples wanted to holiday together but in separate accommodation, this is the perfect spot to be able to do so.

  • Such an amazing find. The Hayloft really exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to visit again. The views were gorgeous - even with the ever changing weather! It was great to wind down after a long day and watch a thunderstorm from the little window. Our trip into Windermere was fantastic, as well as our drive up Hardknott pass and walking through the hills with our pup. The bed was so comfy and we slept so well! Thanks for a great stay, couldn’t recommend the Hayloft more. X

Jennifer was a fabulous host and the breakfast supplies were a great touch. Everyone slept really well as the beds were so comfy. We all felt really relaxed and could happily have stayed longer. The whole house was better than expected and Jennifer's tour on our arrival was really helpful. We would certainly recommend staying at the property and we would gladly go back. Thanks so much Jennifer!

  • We had a fantastic time with Steve & Sue. This is our first week in England and we often lost our way. S&S patiently guided us home and later helped us plan our trip. They fed us when we checked in late and no restaurants were open! We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the night. The property is charming to say the least. My only regret is we couldn't spend much time exploring the grounds. Hopefully,we can visit again sometime soon!

  • We had a lovely stay at this caravan. We initially just wanted a base and somewhere to put our head after being out all day, but this accommodation was very comfortable and very warm (especially as we were there during a storm!). The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen has all you need for a breakfast, lunch or dinner and the shower was lovely and warm - also a bonus having two toilets. • This is the perfect location for nature lovers. We were a group of seven including a toddler. This caravan was specious and complete. It even had a high chair for our daughter. Jamahl was kind enough to let us checkin two hours earlier than usual. I strongly recommend this place.

  • Went for a chilled weekend after finishing university and Lorraine’s place was perfect!!! There was plenty of room both inside and out, so much so we didn’t feel the need to leave the house during our stay. We were absolutely gutted to leave and hope to visit again. Thank you Lorraine for such a great weekend!
