A quiet, spacious and wonderful place in the nature where you can relax! The hosts are so friendly and helpful with everything! Was a wonderful time to end our trip in Sri Lanka!

The apt was not so easy to find but Sumudu gave our driver precise instructions so that we could get to our paradise destination quite quickly. We were warmly welcomed with cookies and a drink. What was somehow not so clear to us is that we had 2 rooms. A master bedroom with bath and shower and a "relax room" also with bath and connection to the pool. It was really unique. The house of the two is incredibly large and beautiful! We felt very very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing! The two also had their own tuk tuk driver, which explained the way home. We wrote a what's app to Dinesha or Sumudu and a short time later the driver was there. Very nice and careful driving TukTuk driver We can only recommend this accommodation to everyone, it is pure luxury and relaxation. Thank you very much we will be back!

This stunning old property, restored by the owners and surrounded by trees, is amazing. Dinesh and Samudu couldn’t be more helpful, the breakfast is great and the pool at the back of the room is a very nice touch! We hope to return!

We stayed as a couple for 5 nights in this charming property. When we arrived we were more than overwhelmed by the beauty of this property. The location is just outside of Galle, in the middle of a tropical garden with a variety of animals, plant fruits and spices. It was a pleasure for us to walk through the garden with Dinesh and Sumudu and to admire the biodiversity. The accommodation is many times more beautiful than in the photos. The private pool is wonderfully cool (the pool is actually on the roof). The room had an air conditioning system, but we hardly used it because the temperature was very pleasant. Dinesh is a superhost who really organizes everything, transfer from the airport to Katagerama, Tuck Tuck everywhere in the vicinity, to the beach .... The breakfast was sensationally delicious and every day there was something different ... delicious, Dinesh tried very hard to serve us something different for dinner ... there was absolutely nothing that could have been better .. many thanks for that wonderful days with you .. with kind regards Angelika and Klaus

My husband and I stayed at Dinesh and Sumudu's wonderful place during our excursion to Sri Lanka. Dinesh greeted us upon arrival and we all had a friendly chat about the history of his villa, sites to see, and Sri Lanka in general. The place was fantastic, the breakfasts were phenomenal, the wildlife at night was breathtaking, and the private pool was relaxing after a lazy beach day. We give this place 6/5 stars - they are the hosts that boast the most! Highly recommend!

Dinesh & Sumudu’s suite is a little jungle oasis a 10 min Tuktuk ride from Galle. We absolutely loved every moment of our stay here - the flat was incredible and the mini pool was an amazing treat to come back to after a hot day exploring Galle. Dinesh and Sumudu were fantastic hosts, helping make every element of our trip as smooth as possible, from helping arrange a Tuktuk from the station when we arrived and also for whenever we wanted to head into Galle, providing amazing breakfasts and giving great tips for things to do in Galle (head to Lucky Fort for a 9 curry feast!). Thank you Dinesh and Sumudu - highly recommend this authentic experience in Galle!

Great little place. Champs dad was brilliant. Champ organised a taxi from the airport, and was great at keeping communicating with us. We only stayed one night and wished we’d stayed longer - just for the hospitality. The pool is very nice, room great, and thanks for giving us a fantastic take away breakfast for the early morning train. Highly recommended.

Loved Champ’s parents place - the garden is amazing and the room ever nicer than in the pictures. The Sri Lankan breakfast was also one of the best we’ve had here! Really recommend this as a little oasis to stay slightly out of the city centre when visiting Kandy.

The room was very nice and it was great to have a fridge to keep cool water in and a way to make extra coffee/tea. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious.

Beautiful house with nice host. Bed is big and confortable. You have to walk 15-20 min or take a tuk tuk to reach the center . But the distance is not a problem. Just sad that due to the oasis inside we did not have lot of sun around the pool.

Loved our stay here!!! An absolute oasis in busy Kandy with monkeys and birds in the beautiful garden and the prettiest bedroom we stayed in during our trip. Its a short drive into the centre of Kandy, but having seen how hectic it is, we were glad to have a bit of calm. The very best thing about this gem of a place however is Champ’s dad, such a friendly and knowledgeable man! We were only here for one afternoon / evening and were a bit unsure of the best plan. He arranged the perfect itinirary (gardens, a wander around the lake, kandyan dancing, temple visit and a great dinner spot) and booked our Tuk Tuk driver Gehan who picked us up and dropped us off for the whole day for a very reasonable fixed price. He was bang on time, every single pick up, and answered all of our questions about the city. If you want to get through traffic in a hurry - Gehan is your man. He took us to a lovely lookout point on our way home at the end of the day. Champ’s dad was also brilliant at giving advice for our train to Ella the next day, arranged for Gehan to take us to the station and packed us a lovely breakfast for our trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for a very warm welcome, and a bit of peace away from the city.

This is a lovely green oasis - you’d never guess you were in a busy city once inside. Very clean and comfortable room with everything you need, big comfortable bed, and balcony. We enjoyed a swim after our journey and breakfast next morning served in a beautiful spot under a glass roof, again surrounded by greenery. Best of all, Champ’s parents are wonderful friendly hosts who did everything to welcome us. Champ’s dad recommended an excellent inexpensive place to eat and arranged a tuktuk there and back and to our train in the morning.

Superb room, very clean and very cozy. Really a favorite! Very caring host, who really puts you at ease. In a beautiful district, we are calm while being a few minutes by tuk tuk from places to visit. If you go through Colombo I can only advise you to come and stay with Gayathri

We absolutely loved our stay here! Our taxi was kindly organised from the airport to the Airbnb resulting in a seamless late night arrival. The room was cosy and cute. Further, we were cooked a nourishing breakfast when we woke the next day. Had lovely chats with the host. Highly recommend. Above and beyond.

Gayathri's lovely home is in a quiet and paceful neighborhood. However the hustle and bustle of the city center is just a short tuk tuk ride away. The house itself is bright, clean and very comfortable. Gayathri was extremely helpful in giving me the confidence to navigate around Colombo, after an international flight. This was a great introduction to Colombo. Thanks so much, Gayathri!

Such a lovely stay. Fresh, Comfy and Clean. A home away from home!! The library was mesmerizing... felt so wonderful to have such an exquisite collection of books at my leisure... Sweetest staff.

We had a great stay at Buddhi! The entire accommodation is very nice, you feel right at home. The rooms are extremely clean and stylish. Buddhi is a great host, we can also highly recommend TukTuk driver Gila (organized via Buddhi) :) A great extra, of course, is the pool! Breakfast was delicious too. Definitely recommendable!

We had a great 3 night stay at Buddhi’s place! He is so nice and helpful and same with the other staff members. The room was simple and just what we needed. We enjoyed a hot shower and comfortable bed at the end of our adventure packed days. The breakfast was also a delight to enjoy in the morning. We would recommend staying here!

Buddhi and his cousin are super kind and relaxed! This place is close to downtown, close to nature. The weather however makes such a difference. Our first day it was super misty so we couldn’t see anything and it was cold (bring something warm when you go in low season) but the next day it was sunny and we were surprised with the a beautiful view of the mountains en waterfalls. On our last day the road to Yala was blocked and Buddhi’s cousin drove us to Yala via a different route in a massive van which was awesome!

Beautiful view over the mountains and waterfall. Next door is a large hotel in renovation / construction, view of Little Adams Peak a bit limited, but still beautiful. Surrounded by nature sounds. Walk to the center of Ella 15min downhill / 20min uphill. To the train station way over the rails about 10 minutes.

Buddhi maintains a clean, lovely and spacious guest house with an incredible view of the mountains and waterfall. Every morning we were treated to a lovely eastern breakfast (if you want western he can provide it) and he was more than happy to call us a car or help get us around. We needed an adapter for our electronics and he was kind enough to go out and source us one free of charge. We highly recommend Buddhi and his staff. We want to return again for longer next year!

We had a great time with Phil and Wathsala, they are great hosts and have an amazing home. We felt very comfortable in our lovely room and enjoyed all the amenities: the pool, the gardens and the lounge. I had an amazing massage whilst there, a wonderful experience. We also had some delicious meals there! The location is great, walking distance to the beach, many shops and restaurants. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous, relaxing two night stay at The Spice House, Mirissa. Excellent prompt, detailed communication from our host Phil from the moment we booked. A warm welcome, a comfortable, well thought out room with a recently added balcony with two two sun beds and a great view. Excellent food served overlooking the garden. Watching the mischievous monkeys was a bonus! Transport and whale watching arranged by Phil. Highly recommended! Thanks Phil all the best, Rosemary and Rob

Beautiful guest house, lovely hosts, great food! I’d definitely recommend this place.

This is a must recommend place. The staff was top notch and they were able to help me out before and during my stay. Through them I was able to arrange transport from Colombo to Mirissa and also booked other activities through them. The place is in an excellent location, only a short walk to the beach and great restaurants. The room was spacious and the property was perfect for relaxing. My only regret is that I didn't book a longer stay. If and when I come back to Mirissa, I will stay here again!

We stayed in the Lemongrass room at The Spice House, and from the moment of arrival we were blown away by this place. The house is lovely, the gardens beautifully landscaped, with a gorgeous pool area. The Lemongrass room is tucked away at the end of the garden, it is a very spacious room, with a lovely bathroom. The balcony has a day bed, a hammock and a deck chair, and we loved sitting here in the morning to read, or to watch the monkeys playing around. We ate dinner at the The Spice House on two evenings and the food was absolutely amazing, some of the best meals of our whole trip! It was also a nice opportunity to meet some of the other guests. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone visiting Mirissa. The people who run it are so friendly and helpful, and can't do enough to make your stay comfortable.

An absolutely beautiful little haven in Mirissa. Calm and quiet with lovely attentive hosts. The accommodation is stylish and super clean, the pool area looks over a jungle where we watched monkeys playing and the food is delicious. Only wish we could have stayed longer! We came on a recommendation and will definitely recommend you to anyone travelling in Sri Lanka. Many thanks 😊

Can't recommend this place highly enough. The property is stunning, the rooms are lovely, air-conditioned, clean and comfortable. A brilliant place to stay in Mirissa. Lovely room with comfy bed and great shower/ bathroom. The room is full of homely touches to make your stay that extra bit special. The pool area is a lovely, relaxing space with lots of areas to chill. Just a short walk across the road to the beautiful beaches. Perfect hosts, giving us lots of trip and advice for our stay in Sri Lanka. Also the breakfast was amazing! Best we had in Sri Lanka. I would 100% recommend this to anyone travelling to Mirissa as a couple or family.

Guava is a magical place perfect for chilling in the sun by the pool, consuming wonderful Sri Lankan cuisine amongst the sounds of the jungle. Perfect for small and big groups this was the perfect was to end our trip. We will be back!

As we stayed twice at his place and went to the Maldives in between, Benjamin took care of our luggage as we didn't have to bring everything along. When we returned from the Maldives we arrived at 01:00 at night. Benjamin told us we could call him and he would open the door for us and so he did. He was very helpful and we really enjoyed our stay!

Great space outside of the hustle and bustle of Kandy. There are still roadworks outside so it’s not quite as peaceful as it could be, but they are due to be finished soon. The room is very comfortable, with a lovely bed. We loved sitting up by the pool in the refreshing breeze. Champ’s Dad is a wonderful man. Really interesting to talk to & he organised drivers for us all the time. He also made yummy breakfasts. With the roadworks it’s impossible to walk into Kandy at the moment, but cheap to get a tuk tuk. A memorable visit.

Breakfast and hospitality provided was brilliant along with local knowledge provided. What a place! Everything from the delicious breakfast, quiet location and beautiful apartment made for a great stay. It’s the perfect place to come back to and enjoy a beer on the terrace after a busy day exploring.

Champ’s place was an absolute highlight of our Sri Lanka trip. It really is as beautiful and private and serene as the photos. Mahdu’s breakfasts are delicious and he organised drivers, gave us restaurant tips and looked after us so well. If we return to Kandy we wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

This is a really great place to stay in Kandy. It's a bit outside of the city, about a 20 min walk to the nearest restaurants. We got takeaway food and ate it on the roof by the pool and it was a lovely evening. Champ's parents were excellent hosts! They made us a yummy breakfast, gave us local tips about where to go, and let us hang out by the pool for a few hours after our official check out time. Definitely recommend!

This really is a unique villa and very beautiful, a real oasis away from Kandy. Champs parents were so welcoming and incredibly helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and kept us going for most of the day, the best I have had. I’m not surprised that Champ is a super host, his communication and responses were very quick and when I had to change a day he was really accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for him. This Villa is really worth a visit.

Cecilia Villa is set in a lovely village. She has a lovely neighbourhood and we were lucky to have her lovely neighbours cooking. Beautiful location and very peaceful. Great area for bird watching from the pool!

Mataramba is the perfect place for 2-4 people to sit and do nothing in peaceful and quiet surroundings. The birdlife is amazing and we saw monkeys, monitor lizards and peacocks everyday. The delightful Leela cooked amazing Sri Lankan breakfasts and dinners for us daily at a small fee. The road can be a bit tricky after heavy rain and you may have to walk for a few minutes only, ( a small torch would be useful to bring in your suitcase), but the location is worth it. The tuk-tuk driver Amila, recommended by Leela is a very sweet young man who speaks good English and is a careful driver. We highly recommed Mataramba. Jerry and Lotte

I loved Mataramba lodge. Felt like it was a hidden gem amidst the lush Sri Lankan jungle.. worth the adventure to get there! Cecilia is an incredible host, very responsive over message and happy to accomodate whatever your needs are - she helped us before, during and after our stay. I would absolute love to visit again, we already miss the amazing private pool! Leela the housekeeper is a sweetheart as well, she always wanted to make the stay as comfortable as possible for us.

Charming villa, plain of charm. Away from the sound of unawatuna (tuk tuk essential to soothe) Very good attentive and delicious breakfast. We highly recommend.

Lovely quiet oasis hidden away from the road. The lodge is really cosy and had everything we needed including a small pool, super cute and swimmable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Leela, the house keeper, was very friendly and helpful. However, recent rains had damaged the road so we were not able to drive right up the Lodge- torches recommended if walking after dark to/from the main road (where we had to park our car).

Lotte & Shadwell welcome you into their most stylish and luxurious home. The property is of the highest end. If you are looking for somewhere in nature to relax whilst enjoying the company of a very kind and interesting couple then this is the place for you. Having praised the property so highly though, our parting thoughts were the immence kindness of Lotte & Shadwell after our little girl got an infection at our previous hotel. We will be forever grateful.

This place is exquisite. Words don't describe it. The layout of the villa is a wonder, the interior so in tune with its surroundings, which are themselves jaw dropping. The view is to die for. Add to that Lotte and Shadwell, who go above and beyond to ensure everything is expertly tended to. I was travelling solo, on my first trip to Sri Lanka and they took me completely under their wings and treated me as a member of their family, acting as personal tour guides from the moment I landed. AirBnB was founded for experiences like this; book in immediately.

A truly unique and memorable experience. The property is simply stunning. Lotte and Shadwell are the quintessential hosts and whilst they live on the property, the space is private and large enough to enjoy time out relaxing. The property is quite a way out of town, however we enjoyed most of our meals at the villa, and the candlelit dinners were a highlight of our trip.

We are actually having a hard time adjusting to our regular life at home after staying in amba villa. We were just spoiled there, the villa is so beautiful, the views are incredible, the food beyond amazing and the hosts and staff are incredible. Above and beyond amazing. We are so happy to have had the privilege of staying here and we can’t wait to be back. Highly highly recommend.

What an amazing property, photos and words can’t explain the beauty and peacefulness of this villa and surrounding countryside. Whether lying by the pool, having a drink looking out over water below or chilling out under the Mango tree in the stunning gardens you will instantly relax! This is a perfect little oasis tucked high up on a hill overlooking the Ocean. The photos are accurate, two beautifully appointed bedrooms and a small infinity pool were perfect for my family for our three night stay. Unawatuna has developed rapidly and so we were happy to have a retreat away from the main drag, hotels and restaurants. The best part of our stay by far were the staff, the manager Manoj was so kind and prompt in helping with our every question and request. But Chi the houseboy and cook was the shining star, his beautiful smile, chill vibe and great cooking would make anyone feel at home and want to return.

What an incredible stay! An absolute piece of paradise in Unawatuna. Manoj and Chi were such an incredible team that made us feel so welcome and at home. Chi's cooking is superb. Do not waste your time and eat elsewhere!! He even gave us a casual cooking class and shared the magic of his recipes. He also went out of his way to make sure we were happy with anything else we needed. A huge thank you again for the beautiful rooftop dinner on the last night. If you're in Unawatuna and this property is available, book it. You will not be disappointed. We just got back from our roundtrip in Sri Lanka. We spent the last couple of days at the Unakanda White House and we can only highly recommend it. The estate is beautiful - the interior, the pool, the view and the food. The two gentlemen working there are phenomenal, they made our stay to something special. The infrastructure is outstanding as well - you can either enjoy this retreat and quietness, or simply spend your time at the beach in one of the countless restaurants or bars. We will definitely be back soon.

Where to start? Absolutely amazing stay. The location is awesome, just a few hundred meters from the beach. Ben and Samee welcomed us with open arms and were gracious with their time if needed. For Airbnb hosts they were so readily available with any questions we had along the way. We’ve never experienced this from any other Airbnb hosts, normally we are just given a code/keys and take care of ourselves. It was definitely a welcomed luxury to have our own private plunge pool and outdoor entertaining space, something we have found hard to find on our Sri Lankan journey within this price-range. Samee comes daily to clean the outside areas and take care of the pool, however leaves us to enjoy our privacy for the rest of the day. For an old renovated village house in the deep south of Sri Lanka, the house was clean, tidy and well-appointed. Hiriketiya has a great restaurant and cafe scene, by far the best along the south coast. We loved having brunch out everyday. The beaches are beautiful, Pehibiya Beach being our favourite for family time and Hiriketiya for surfing. It you’re after a very chilled, relaxed vacation where you will be left alone to enjoy, this is definitely the place to stay. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Ben and Tennelle’s place is in an incredible spot in Hiriketiya, we loved our time there. Although the place is not as clean (mainly bathroom) as photos make it out to be which is a tad disappointing as it is quite pricey. But the location and space definitely make up for it.

Very nice house and great hosts! Ben and Tenille are very caring. The house is well situated and nicely decorated. We especially enjoyed the back yard with the nice plunge pool, cosy corner sofa and hammock.

Pretty much as described in the listing. Due to wet weather, the dirt-road to the beach is a bit muddy in places, but walk carefully and you won’t get dirty. The recommended driver, Nuwan, was great and really helpful!

This place is incredible! Ben, Tenille and Samith definitely made sure our stay went smoothly! The house itself is super cute, with everything you need! The best thing on this accomodation was the family taking care of it. They were so kind and helpful, they arranged trip, lift and cooked delicious breakfast and dinner for us and were always smiling! We also liked the lokation away from busy citycentre. We can absolutely recommend!

Situated in a quiet corner in Ella Villa Skygrazer was the perfect place to break away and recharge our batteries from the first leg of our trip that we spent in Galle. Ella is truly a magical place and Villa Skygrazer is one of the reasons for it. The villa creates the feeling that you are alone in the forest. Such a great space to unwind for a bit. By the end of our stay I was wishing that I could have stayed longer. The hospitality was on another level. I have never experienced such pure kindness. We ordered a chicken curry for dinner and it was AMAZING! We received some helpful advice and assistance with getting around Ella from our hosts as well. I can definitely see myself staying here again soon be it with my boyfriend or even just coming for a solo trip.

We love staying at Villa Skygazer. Not only was it a perfect starting point to see all of the beautiful sights in Ella and the surroundings, the family took so good care of us. The house was beautiful and we loved sitting at the terrace and just listening to the sounds. Everything was good, and we also enjoyed the delicious food that Harshans family prepared for us. The design of the house is beautiful, surrounded by glass, That is, the house is not completely enclosed, and the beams from the outside are not sealed. I am afraid that something will come in at night. The location is slightly biased, and it is not particularly convenient to go out, The host was very welcoming and the breakfast and dinner were very hearty! If you like to be close to nature, this is a very good choice!

We LOVED this place. Absolutely stunning views (of Ella Rock and surrounding hills), great place to relax and watch trains pass by, lovely host (and adorable doggy), amazing location: peaceful and out of the hustle of town but easy access to it (10/15 mins walk along track to Ella/ easy access to Ella Rock hike), and very comfortable and cosy. We didn’t see another place like this in Ella. Would highly recommend.

It was a pleasure to live here! Location is great — there were just we and nature. And it took ten minutes on foot by railroad and we were in city center. We liked breakfasts. We ordered it a day before and chose any time 7:30-10:00. Breakfasts were good: tea/coffee, eggs, fruits, toasts with butter and jam, main local dish (such as rice and curry). We were thankful for the map with all routes to attractions such us Ella rock. Definitely recommend this place to live!

You won’t find a better view from your front porch in Ella! Very true to the photos. It’s located on the route to Ella rock and is a quick 15 min walk to town along the tracks. The trains are infrequent, so you won’t need to worry about them waking you up at night. There are a lot of animals around and you’ll hear lots of critters on the roof at night. The space itself is clean, spacious and has good WiFi.

Indika’s place in Ella was so beautiful we were disappointed we only stayed one night as the town of Ella was so lovely and so close by to the place. The housekeeper who greeted us was extremely helpful and very hospitable. He was able to help us with anything, especially directions and recommendations for dinner. Ella town was so close by, an easy 10 minute walk on the train tracks! The place itself is a must stay if you’re in Ella, the train tracks is right on the doorstep and watching it go by is an unmissable experience. the view in unlike any other! As it is so immersed in nature you’ll hear the monkeys on the roof which didn’t bother us too much and the sounds of the waterfall was so tranquil and peaceful.

We had the best time staying at Bamboo Cabana! This is definitely the most amazing balcony in all Ella. You need to consider that the location is really close to the trail way, and the train is very loud when it passes (especially at 6:30 and 7:30 AM). Also, it is basically living in the jungle, so prepare yourself to cope with frogs in the bathroom, monkey poop on the balcony table in the morning (true stories) and other flies and mosquitoes. I would say that it is one of the best experiences we had in Sri Lanka! Breakfast is delicious and eating it on the balcony with the most amazing view feels like a fantasy. Shian was the most amazing host we could have! He helped us with the luggage and after checking us in, gave us some suggestions with a map on what to do in the Ella. He was nice, quick, responsive, helpful and served us with so many requests- transportations, laundry, booking a massage and getting food delivered to us (and coping with the frog in the toilet). He truly made our stay the most amazing it could be! Thank you Shian!!! Would highly recommend to stay there!

We really loved to stay at this beautiful place. The pictures shows like it is. A small paradise next to the mountains... To wake up with this view and to have breakfast at the Balkony was amazing. And Indikas brother is doing everything so lovely and courteous. He did breakfast, helped us with scooter, tuk tuk, train, hiking. Thank you so much again! We would love to come back again. Really wonderful place. Great location on the train tracks and a lovely 10 min walk along them into Ella. And a big shout to Prasanna - such a lovely guy who was so helpful and attentive.

Maulie's place is for the nature lovers. Confortable bed, adorable team and great location (close to sigirya and Dambulla). The accomodation i a bit expensive for the standing but the experience in the forest is great.

Galkadawala is a unique and special place. You feel like you are staying in a magical treehouse that allows comfort while connecting to the surrounding nature. The staff are very friendly and our host ate dinners with us and our fellow travelers/guests, sharing tips for local adventures and sharing her journey to create this amazing eco friendly place. Delicious local food too. I recommend taking out the kayaks on the lake in the early morning...tons of birds, bring binoculars!

If you are going to Srilanka... You have to visit this place... Little expensive? Yes... But Awsomest experience ever...

We had a 3 night stay and it was a truly expectional experience for all the right reasons. Maulie our host and her staff were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a perfect location for visiting local attractions. The lake for birdwatching was incredible. A good variety both on the lake and in the trees. The food was exceptional and authentic. When we needed to leave early in the morning a packed breakfast was always waiting for us to take away. Would highly recommend this accommodation and hope to return there ourselves in the not too distant future.

Very nice and peacefull place. You can stay and just ralax at the lodge for a couple of days - but also its a good location for going to places in the Habarana area during tha day, and withdraw to the sounds of the jungle in the afternoon. Good place for couples, families, friends and solo travellers looking to chill out in a quiet place. Rooms are open to the nature, so you should be to :) we loved our three nights there! Food is the best - The people working there aswell! We would love to go back some time.

We really had the most wonderfull stay. Waking up with birdsong in the middle of the jungle, amazing sri lankan breakfast and dinner & countless activities that can be arranged through Maulie. Who is the warmest of hosts. You’ll be a fool not to book.

The place is truly magical as all the reviews have said. I absolutely love falling asleep and waking up surrounded by the sounds of nature inside a comfortable room. Maulie and her team, including the dogs are so welcoming! The Sri Lanka food are extremely delicious!

The only thing I didn’t like about my stay was it was a rather short one. I love every bit of my stay. The hospitality was amazing. The food — free breakfast as well as the lunch and dinner I ordered was a good taste of local cuisine. The tips on local sceneries and places to visit was good. Maulie was really hands on which I truly appreciated. The place is amazing — the nature and peace I needed from my city life. Hearing the birds, surrounded by greenery, the home which is incredibly, sustainably and mindfully thought of, beautiful room, lovely details. Love every bit. We had a great stay here! We were greeted with coconuts when we arrived, and we were shown how to get to various landmarks. Breakfast was lovely, we had freshly cooked omelettes, fresh fruit, coconuts and coffee - a great start to the day! The room was clean, stylish, and very spacious. We very much enjoyed our night at the Square Peg!

We couldn’t recommend this stay anymore! Such a beautifully designed building and atmosphere with the most helpful and friendly staff. Great food from the cook and the manager made us feel very welcome. The bathrooms are super clean shower pressures great and bedrooms have pumping aircon. Just spent two amazing weeks at Banana Leaf Apartments with my wife. Hannah and Amila were perfect hosts, full of local knowledge and always helpful and on hand to help with any questions. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcome with their amazing hospitality and by the time we left it we felt we had always known them. The apartment was perfect, spotlessly clean and had everything you need for your holiday whether your there for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. Hikkaduwa is an amazing place to spend time but it can be very noisy and chaotic. Banana Leaf is perfectly positioned. Hidden away in a jungle setting amongst cinnamon and palm trees, waking up to the sound of chipmunks, wild peacock, sun birds and parrots but a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute tuc tuc ride puts you at the Galle road with all the shops, bars and restaurants you could ever need and the fantastic beach. I couldn't recommend Banana Leaf enough, perfect for nature lovers and beach lovers. We cant wait to get back there next year!

We spent 10 nights in the Kittul, every morning we were woken by the peacock, so not for late risers;) a beautiful place where you can also relax from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwas.

We loved our stay at Banana Leaf, it has the perfect combination of beach and busyness of Hikkaduwa whilst being set back in the jungle and cinnamon plantations making it really private and peaceful. The concrete interiors are stunning and the pool is perfect for a little dip on a hot day! Amila and Hannah were so helpful, they arranged us tuk tuks and taxis everywhere and gave us loads of of locals advice. This is a great place to stay I highly recommend! Wish we could have stayed longer!

Great place to stay. A peaceful refuge from the busy main strip of Hikkaduwa. Room was exceptionally clean and modern and it was really nice to have a little kitchen and balcony. The pool area was lovely to enjoy some afternoon sun after a morning on the beach. Amila and Hannah were so friendly we had a great evening together. It’s a lovely little spot and if you are thinking of booking - do it!

Every corner of the Banana Leaf Apartments are aesthetically pleasing with thoughtful design elements. The half-exposed shower is beautiful. It is a short tuk tuk ride to the beach or town and Amila and Hannah will always help call you one. Highly recommend.

This place was hands down our favourite AirBnB we have stayed at across the globe! Value for money is incredible, the apartment is super clean and the hospitality was 10/10. The bed is super comfy, you even get a top sheet which is rare in Sri Lanka! The mosquito net is super high quality and the bathroom/rain shower makes this place feel like a luxury hotel. Hannah was so quick to respond and Amila was always around when we had a question. The pool is a great touch and shared with the other 4 apartments which made for a great place to meet other like minded travelers. The kitchen is not only super cute but the perfect place to enjoy a home cooked meal or breakfast. We hadn't cooked in 2 months as we have been traveling and we really enjoyed pretending this was our little home! We would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Thank you Amila and Hannah!

In fact it has been the most amazing location: view, pool, house, etc. but what has touched us the most is the incredible aura of Naditha (your host). His smile is unique and the way ow he is giving his guests the most amazing experience in Sri Lanka is absolutely outstanding! In that regard, we come back to you Naditha wherever you are! When there is light, there is shadow: I would really appreciate a modernisation of the house: the furniture, bathroom etc. is not the highest standard and can be upgraded with a few days of work / ideas / furniture! This place is amazing. We stayed 3 nights - the first 3 days of our Sri Lanka holiday. The surroundings are amazing. Spectacular views and so quiet and peaceful. The inside is nothing special, but not important when you spend most of the time outside. The host is so friendly and helpful and took really good care of us. He cooks amazing meals with lots of local food from the area. Anything you ask for is possible. I will always recommend anyone to try this, and I recommend a minimum of 3 nights. I imagine 1 or 2 nights is just not enough to enjoy this wonderful place. I’m sure we’ll be back one day. It’s really amazing. Even better than the pictures.

Exceptional house and pool in a fantastic location! You just never get used to the view, the rainforest and tea plantation are so beautiful! The breakfast and dinner that is served is one of the best meals we were able to enjoy during our trip. The hosts are very friendly and courteous and showed us a small part of the rainforest on a walk. The interior is kept very simple; the shower in particular needs to be revised urgently. Toilet goes great, but the water pressure was so little that we had to wash under the tap because the shower didn't work. The beds are simply built and can become uncomfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, perfect for relaxing after an exhausting Sri Lanka trip. We didn't want to stay more than 2-3 nights, as the possibilities in the area are very limited.

There are few words to describe how special this place is. The views are utterly staggering and the varied & delicious meals a real treat - Naditha’s knowledge of flavours are out of this world! We even got shown where the fruits, spices and herbs were mostly sourced around the property. The isolation was perfect for us & could have stayed another week...easily! We thank you Yasiru & Naditha so much for your hospitality in your beautifully located, gem of a stay!

Skinny Beach House is such a wonderful place! You couldn't ask for a better location, waking up to the waves and being able to swim with turtles on Wijaya beach. The villa itself is very spacious and comfortable, however the second bedroom can be a bit loud due to noise from the main road. Sashi and Proboth are both lovely people and will make sure you have everything you need during your stay, the breakfast alone is enough to make us want to return!!

We loved our stay at skinny beach. The location is steps away from a nice beach and a restaurant. The villa itself was very airy and open with lots of sunlight. The amenities in the villa were perfect for a beach stay. Cecilia helped us at every step from reminding our permits to accommodating our meal preferences.

I don’t even know where to begin!! Skinny Beach house is absolutely incredible - We are a family of 5 from New Zealand. Our children are aged 3, 5 and 7. After visiting many beaches around Sri Lanka we can agree that Dalawella is one of the best, if not the best, there’s something for everyone - 20m to the left is a huge natural swimming pool which is ideal for kids and also for snorkelling - turtles come into this area and swim around, directly out from is another great spot for snorkelling in the waves with turtles but has a strong current (fine for adults but less suitable for kids) then there are also two epic surf breaks directly out front as well! The surf is great for intermediate/experienced riders but it’s also very close to other beaches (a few minutes in a tuktuk) for beginners surf and lessons. Sashi and Proboth are absolutely wonderful - they make incredible meals which we highly recommend. Proboth can take you places in his tuktuk for small set prices (which we’d definitely recommended as he is a very safe driver) There’s a small convenience store a few minutes walk away which stocks nappies, milk, cereal, snacks, treats etc and a fruit stall. I literally can not fault this place, would undoubtedly recommend it to others and would stay here again in a heartbeat! We will be dreaming of the magnificent views from Skinny forever! You won’t regret booking this place!!

The Skinny Beach House is one to remember. It has everything you need and is such a beautiful space. It is perfectly located on the beach! We were even luckier to have the ocean out front filled with sea turtles. Sashi and Proboth were both absolutely lovely and made sure we were look after.

Our stay at Skinny Beach House was great. First and foremost - Cecilia was completely available for any requests and was very quick and helpful with her replies, and was kind enough to not only manage transfers to and from the airport (in a very comfortable car), but also allowed us early check in and late check out. The house is great and fantastic for a group - great communal areas and comfortable sleeping space. The beach right at the foot of the property was great! The on ground team were helpful in preparing breakfast and being on top of keeping the house clean and supporting in any way. Thanks for a great trip!

Dinesh and Sumudu’s place is stunning. It was such a beautiful oasis from the busy city of Galle surrounded by amazing lush scenery. The room was even bigger than we expected and having our own private plunge pool was an absolute treat! Dinesh and Sumudu were charming and helpful and I would be back again if I ever return to Galle. Thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay!

We only just left today after staying there for 3 nights and I must say, it was the definitely our favourite stay in our whole trip in Sri Lanka! The house itself has full of character. A very lovely colonial styled home surrounded by pure nature! The private plunge pool and the jacuzzi (although we didnt use it) were just perfect added bonus, it’s so easy to want to just stay in the whole day! Dinesh and Sumudu, the famiy and the staff are very attentive and hospitable! They were away on some part of our stay and they still arranged to get us take away dinner on a rainy night! Coudnt thank you enough! Daily Sri lankan breakfast was just lush, plus watching the monkeys and birds and occasional cat visitors, what more could you ask for?! We highly recommend this place, particularly if you want a nice peaceful stay away from the busy streets but close enough to Galle, Hikaduwa and Unawatuna beaches.

Dinesh is a wonderful host fully deserving his superhost status. The room we stayed in was spectacular and enormous, with a very comfortable bed, wonderful plunge pool, good hot water and a spectacular view into the jungle. It was great to watch the monkeys leaping from tree to tree. Dinesh has a close neighbour with a tuk tuk who is charming and can easily whisk you off into Galle Fort or beyond. We had a really lovely stay - thank you very much!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It was a total oasis, complete with monkeys and fireflies! Dinesh and Sumudu were lovely - so helpful and definitely knew the best places to eat. Loved the plunge pool and the hoppers perhaps the best!

Get ready to reach paradise. The accommodation is a gem hidden in the most beautiful green jungle with the sounds a birds, monkeys and squirrels. And yet, only 10min drive by tuktuk or bus to Galle. The room is extremely well and beautifully decorated. The pictures on the accommodation are beautiful but the reality is much better. The bed is comfortable and lovely dressed with beautiful white linen. The bathroom well equipped, and the fresh plunge pool was calling for us after a long warm day. There is a little fridge with ice cold water, small candlelights to enjoy the evenings on the terrace. Local breakfast served on the terraces by smiley and friendly staff. Lovely and interesting discussion with Dinesh and Sumudu. Extremely nice and helpful hosts. They really went beyond a hosts normal and expected attributions with food, guidance and assistance in any way. Our stay here, was definitely the best in Sri Lanka as being so authentic and so charming.

Beautiful property with a big and stylish upstairs room with private plunge pool and huge private balcony overlooking the jungle! Dinesh & Sumudu are very kind and welcoming people and they were always available if we needed everything. Every morning there was a different kind of Sri Lankan breakfast ready for us, which was really good! It is about 10-15 minutes drive to the fort and the house is not so easy to find, but just ask Dinesh and he will arrange a tuk tuk and this worked flawlessly (drop off and pick up). All in all a really nice stay and would definitely recommend if you are looking for something more secluded and green but still nearby the fort.

Stunning property which is the midst of a lush green forest. The house is huge and you live in a private cozy room and are surrounded by birds and tress. Dinesh was super helpful to guide us to the nice places to eat and to visit and he really helped us with booking cabs and tuktuks :) Thanks for a fantastic experience :)

My husband & I had a great time at The Banana Leaf Apartments. Its a lovely place that's very comfortable & cozy. They also offer a well equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals. The hosts are super friendly and are always ready to help you out in anyway possible to make your stay more comfortable.

Hannah and Amila are excellent hosts--so helpful and friendly - we even were invited to join a family party on our second night. Perfect hosts and the most beautiful and stylish apartments in a quiet part of Hikkaduwa surrounded by cinnamon fields and jungle. When we were leaving, Hannah reminded us to contact her for any advice we might need on our travels. Also, Amila's cooking is the best! Thoroughly recommend Banana Leaf.

It's my best place around the world. The beach side is too much hotels ,so it's very touristic. But the place around the house is very quite and peaceful. And Amila and Hanna were so nice hosts. I got Amila's surfing lesson. It was so nice too. Highly recommend this house to all.

Phantastic apartment, tastefully decorated, lovely attention to detail! This is one of the best Airbnb’s you’ll find in the Southern Province. Hannah is an excellent host, the Guide Book is really useful. I got some fruits when I arrived and the filtered water to refill bottles was great too! The Bamboo room is the first apartment near the entrance, so everybody walks past it, but it’s not really a problem. A bit far from the main road and eateries, all other guests had scooters, I walked (20min) or ran (7min) the distance for exercise. WiFi issues, and powercuts just as in the rest of country. Overall great stay, I recommend it!

We spent 3 nights in the Red Parrot beach villa and felt right at home from the first moment. A beautiful clean house with everything you need. The tranquility and the view are priceless. if you need something and very friendly and accommodating. An absolute insider tip to slow down. The beautiful, deserted beach is right in front of the villa. The host Sudath is extremely friendly and responds to all wishes and needs. Highly Recommended! We would like to come again.

What a wobderful place! The beach right in front of the terrace is totally beautiful and nearly empty. The appartment itself offers enough space and a good equipment. It‘s very stylish too. Sudath really made everything what he could to make our stay perfect. Answered very fast, asked if we‘re ok..there‘s a possibility to enjoy dinner, which was delicious and you really have to treat yourself with a massage, which Sudath can arrange for you. All in all - we didn‘t want to leave! Thanks!

We are from Moscow! We had a family vacation with a child for 4 years! I really liked the location of the house in the center of the beach, a place for those who want privacy and get a quality relaxing holiday in a little crowded place near the ocean! The staff is friendly, I would also like to thank Gita and Booze for their quality work! As well as the owner of the villa Sudat, who is in touch every day and is always ready to help on emerging issues to make the stay in the villa comfortable! If possible, we will come back again !!

My friend and I stayed in this really amazing accommodation! Location: perfect. On the beach and not too far from the shops either. Space: great. Can relax outside, use the kitchen or be very comfortable in the bedrooms. Cleanliness: excellent. The staff are constantly raking the beach and sweeping to ensure the villa areas are looking good. Host and staff: FAULTLESS. Sudath and his team go above and beyond for their guests. Always on call, willing to help, very friendly and completely non-intrusive. Also arranged some trips and transport for us. Extras: so many! We had bought chicken which they cooked beautifully for us, laid out a delicious breakfast for us, were awake at 2am with umbrellas for us to be sheltered from the rain for an early morning safari, really friendly dogs on the beach infront (I really miss one of them!).... We felt so happy and comfortable here! Thank you so much Sudath and I hope I get to return one day!

A great place to unwind and relax.

Sudath’s place is a great option if you want to stay a little out of Galle or Hikkaduwa. It’s quiet, clean, beautiful and Sudath and the staff are super hospital and amazing cooks. There’s usually no one on the beach so it feels like you’re own private slice of Sri Lanka. Highly recommend!

Our stay at Pepper Jungle House was just perfect. Before we reached there James was super helpful in coordinating for our requirements. Once we reached the place - Chaminda & Sarath looked after us really well. The location of the house is just perfect. We tried to soak in the view and environment as much as we could. Highly recommend it to anyone who’s visiting Sri Lanka.

Super modern villa in the jungle near the ocean. This is the type of housing in which you begin to think about moving to warm countries for a long time) Not typical Sri Lankan architecture, stylish furniture and good plumbing. Branded shampoo, conditioner and shower gel with a pleasant smell. It can be seen that the owner approaches the matter with a soul and stands for the convenience of the guests. Great internet. The jungle makes relaxation unique - wild animals are at arm's length. We really enjoyed. At the same time, we were not embarrassed that in the whole villa an easy modernization is required. These are all trifles that do not affect vacation. caretakers of the villa have prepared a delicious dinner that we shared with friends, yes, perhaps, at a price it can be compared with restaurants nearby (12,000 rupees), but relaxing at home after surfing is gorgeous. This is a fantastic villa to stay in after a tour around the island. You will be welcomed by a kind and helpful staff which does everything to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. We really recommend this house to others! The pictures are as beautiful as the reality. But be prepared that you have the animals very close to you, but we though this was a fantastic experience.

We really liked the villa, stylish interior, comfortable accommodation, very polite, friendly and unobtrusive staff. Responsive manager, a couple of times there were problems with electricity and the Internet, but they were immediately solved. The villa is located on a mountain in the jungle, we saw an iguana and many monkeys, some were right on the territory of the villa - a great immersion in the local nature.

What an absolutely amazing 5 days! Chaminda and the team made our stay so special. I would highly highly recommend staying here. We didn't want to leave. The best 5 days of our 3 week trip. Thank you Pepper Jungle House!

We were couple and 2 kids for 6 nights and it was more than perfect. The villa is stunning the service is more than we could think of and everything was above and beyond.

The view and breakfast is amazing here! We stayed for 3 nights and loved all of it. It’s a short walk to the town down the train tracks so you’re away from all the noise of the town and the bed and room is very comfortable for a good nights sleep. It was all spotlessly clean and well organised. Couldn’t have asked for any more for the price!

We loved our visit to Chamodya Homestay. It is in a good location, just a short walk into town on the train tracks and therefore also easy access to the Ella Rock hike and Nine Arch Bridge. The view is stunning and made the delicious breakfast even more enjoyable. The room itself was a good size, fairly basic but with all the essentials. The only slight downside is that it is difficult to have a shower without getting the whole bathroom wet, but the shower and other facilities are good. Lilu was also a fantastic host. Always friendly, smiling and super helpful. She gave us local tips, did some much appreciated laundry for us, and was always on hand with water or fresh juice when we got back from exploring. We also ate dinner at the homestay one evening and the food was amazing. Really reasonably priced for an absolute feast. I would definitely recommend this little homestay as a base for Ella!

I cannot say enough about this place! We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The view is amazing, the breakfast is delicious, the room and bathroom is perfect, and the location cannot be beat! You’re a 20 minute walk on the train tracks to a beautiful waterfall and only a 10 minute walk into town. I highly recommend this place!

The place was and should be booked because of the mesmerizing view and soothing views at all times. A little difficulty to reach as it was night by the time we arrived but the hospitality and help as well as the fulfilling and lovely breakfast was just second to none.

Chamodya home stay has been a highlight of our trip so far. The view is amazing, Lilu and her family are wonderful and caring, and their helpful tips and information about how to spend your days is spot on. Would definitely recommend eating dinner here at least once during your stay, great curries and a lovely way to watch the sunset.

5 star stay. The staff can not be more friendly, accommodating and professional. Rooms are lovely (we stayed in an ensuite cabana). Outdoor bathroom is a luxury. Food excellent and far too much. Our 2 young teenage boys loved plying carrom which they were taught to play by the staff. Having wifi also made them happy as well as our trips to swim and play in the warm Indian Ocean. The staff also organised for us to see the Dolphins and Willpattu. Both experiences were incredible. Getting to Willpattu by boat made the whole experience an adventure. I got 'this was our best day ever' from my boys. Roshan was amazing at sorting out transport and responding to my questions and the staff there on site all ensured we didn't have to worry about anything. I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of Ruuk Village experience. So glad we headed away from all the tourists going south and went north instead. I think this spit will develop and change fast so get there before it gets too built up.

Lovely times and created memories at Ruuk village. The team will do just about anything to make you feel at your best. We didn’t come for kiting and still had loads of fun and enough to do. The food is fantastic, the bathroom clean, the people smile and the views are great! Oh and Wilpattu national park is a great outing

The two week stay at Ruuk Village was a dream !! Even as a "non-kite surfers" one has come through activities such as stand-up paddling or with short trips quite at his own expense. We especially liked the food, which was freshly prepared every day for us and was eaten together with everyone else at a large table. Special praise to the whole team, who went to great lengths to fulfill our wishes and questions. This place is just right for those who long for a break and want to relax. We will be back ;)

This place is awesome, right on the lagoon, chilled atmosphere, nice people and really great food. Very nice eco concept, generator in the evening is ample and cabins are cool enough in the nights. Have a cooking class with the cook, she’s great. Massive portions and set menu is different everyday. Highly recommended!

A really nice place! A fantastic experience staying at the top of the palm trees between coconuts and monkeys overlooking the sea and the stars !! The cabins are very stylishly decorated in elements that almost blend in with the surrounding nature - very beautiful! In addition to that, we got a super delicious breakfast with the most beautiful view at the associated café, where the staff was very welcoming and friendly. If you want to live so that you really feel the nature (in the good way), you must definitely stay a few days in the cabins !!

Paradise isn’t enough to encapsulate the feel of the place. We had the pleasure of staying in the Treescape for our last night in Dikwella, it was wellness for the soul. Amazing experience staying in a treehouse by the sea, listening to the peacocks, the ocean and waking up with the sunrise each morning. Breakfast was delicious, served on the rooftop of mond, with great views overlooking the sea in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The treehouse is an incredible place to wake up. The sounds of the birds, the monkeys and the waves mingling is not something I'll forget in a hurry. Also, the breakfast in the main house was delicious and healthy - perfect way to start the day

Mond is was the perfect ending to our two week trip to Sri Lanka! We met Renato upon check in and he gave us a quick brief on the area and local restaurants and even helped us book a scooter which was delivered to our doorstep within minutes. Located at in between two beautiful beaches (Hiriketiya & Dikwella) our stay in the tree house was nothing beyond perfection. Both beaches are accessible by foot within a 10min walk. The space itself was tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. Bed and pillows were super comfortable so waking up to the sight of coconut trees and the ocean after a good nights sleep was the best part of our stay. The main hotel where breakfast is served was equally stylish and the food was absolutely delicious! Looking forward to stay again and I would definitely recommend Mond to others.

Mond is such a beautiful space in an amazing location. The treehouses are so peaceful with views over the ocean and jungle; and the cafe and rest of the guesthouse is equally spectacular. Jessica and Renato clearly have an amazing eye for detail and design with lots of nice touches all over the place. That keen eye for detail carries over to the food and service too. All in all, I'd say Mond is a must if you're visiting Hiri

Beautiful unspoilt, period house and gardens with incredible hospitality. Wildly beyond any expectations and Rajitha was the best company we could have wished for.

This is a very special place hosted by a very kind and enthusiastic Janaka who although he couldn't be there, kept in touch throughout our stay to make sure everything was going well. We were greeted by his dear mother and lovely staff in his absence and we were very well looked after. It felt like stepping back in time when we arrived at the house. It is just lovely with lots of antiques and books and an old timey atmosphere. With high ceilings and lots of airflow, we just needed fans at night , not air conditioning. The food was delicious and there was so much of it with a wide variety of dishes. We enjoyed watching the cook prepare it in the old fashioned kitchen. She didn't speak English but smiled the whole time. We enjoyed our King coconut juices as well. We felt like we had experienced a very special part of Sri Lanka when we left.

A great place when you first come or in our case before you leave as it is close to the airport and Negombo if you need last minute souvenirs. It is not a swish hotel style home but rather a family home full of character in old Sri Lankàn style. The home itself supports the most magnificent vine and the garden is full of food plants. Make sure you check out the kitchen and watch the cooking. The swimming pool is fantastic. Speciàl touch is there are heaps of great novels to read if you want to chill out. The staff here are very helpful and eager for you to enjoy their hostpitàlity, our family loved it.

Jenny and I just LOVED staying here. Janika is the most incredible host. The villa is most unique in style and really gives you a taste of Sri Lanka living from a past era in terms of vintage furniture. The staff are utterly delightful and really helpful. If you’re looking for a 5 star stay, this won’t be the place for you. However, if you’re looking to stay in a beautiful old home with the most incredibly thoughtful charming people, it really is. We loved the fact it wasn’t designed for the pampered tourist. It was like going back in time to a pastoral environment amongst uncommonly kind and generous people. Highly recommended

i have been in sri lanka more than 20 years ago and i was spellbound then, so i was a little afraid about a delusion after so many years ... fortunately i chose serene villa for the first days which was all beyond my expectation in style and beauty but more than that i felt gifted by the kindness of the people - let's say: spellbound again! janaka showed me exceptionel places and i learnt a lot about the country from the conversations with him - who wants to get in contact with genuine and wonderful sri lanka absolutely recommended!

We started our sri lanka trip here, because we wanted to relax in the countryside and fles the hussle of negombo. supercool old english style mansion, huge private property surrounding it, nice Pool, super people and food. If you want to relax before or after your flight, come here.

A wonderfully charming house, with so much character! We stayed in the family room with 2 double beds - and we had the place all to ourselves! It was a perfect end to our trip here in Sri Lanka - we could relax and have fun by the pool & the kids loved playing with the kitten and getting to know all of the workers was equally lovely!! We managed to communicate and janaka was a very generous host and we have also loved getting to know him! We have been really looked after here & we look forward to coming again one day! As others have said - a great location for being close to the airport without being in the busy city!!

We had a fantastic last day of our holiday at Janaka’s unique house. A beautiful property, garden and pool. We were so relaxed! His hospitably was amazing, and drove us to the airport the next morning which was amazing (and not too far - great location for a beginning or end of a trip away from the bustle of Colombo). The living conditions in the villa are excellent. The apartments are large (everything is as in the photo), well equipped, there is all the dishes and everything you need for cooking. Beautiful blooming garden, well-groomed area. The owner does not interfere with the privacy of the guests, but reacts upon demand. Cleaning every other day. Great internet. The only negative (but you quickly adapt and get used to it) - go to a good beach with a cafe and sunbeds for 15 minutes. Part of the way is along the road. Compensates for the fact that the quality of life compared to guesthouses cannot be compared.

We really liked this apartment. Quiet courtyard, balcony ... you can spend breakfast and evenings here. To the sea 5-7 minutes on foot. Nearby there is a supermarket, you can get to the super market by tak-tuk for 300 rupees (100 rubles), but you can buy fruits and fish nearby in tents. To the cafe you need to go on a tuk-tuk or walk along the road, but this is not a problem. The sea is calm without waves! Also nearby is a diving center with rental equipment and masks. The apartment was cleaned every day. The insects did not disturb us, since this is the second floor. We were very happy to stay here. Thanks a lot! We will advise!

The apartment turned out to be exactly what we had hoped it would be. The main room is large with a high ceiling, the bathroom clean and comfortable. The kitchen is outdoors on the balcony, which works perfectly in this climate. We made breakfast every morning and ate on the balcony with a view of the garden. The beach is only a 5 minute walk and great to visit, but we were always happy to return to the quiet of our room overlooking a beautiful green space. Yes, I definitely recommend Nimal's place.

Loved this accommodation. The location is wonderful, 5-7 minutes walk to the beach, every day they cleaned the house, own kitchen, comfortable beautiful four-poster bed, spacious room. The bathroom has no ceiling over the shower, very unusual and great. In addition, a turtle lives in the yard! The only minor flaw is the poor internet, but as far as we know, this is a problem in many homes and hotels. Therefore, the house and the owner of 5+, we really hope to return to this house.

Nimal’s place was more beautiful, bigger, and better than I expected. That’s rare here on Airbnb. The space was clean, comfortable, and private. The house sits on a street in a hilly neighborhood among several other houses and homestays. It’s a 5 minutes walk down to the main road and a 10 minute walk to the beach. It’s a peaceful area. Nimal and the caretakers were really kind and helpful. I wish I had stayed longer.

Stay at Nimal’s was absolutely great and very comfortable. The best thing is that it’s located at a walking distance from the beach and the bus stand. I stayed on the first floor and it is well equipped with kitchen. I didn’t cook during my stay but it’s super convenient for anyone who is willing to. The property isn’t very far off from the restaurants either. AND it also has a very nice airy balcony overlooking the lawn where you could just sit and appreciate nature for hours. 😊 Another interesting part about the house is the open to the sky shower in the bathroom. Overall the place is very spacious and neat. I ended up stayed an extra night and wanted to stay longer but unfortunately the room wasn’t available. I am surely going to be back and would love to stay here again. Thanks Nimal to you and your team.

The view from our room was to die for. Stunning scenery- with monkeys, a mongoose and some beautiful birds for company. The breakfasts varied each day and were delicious. Anil was wonderful in organising a shared car for the next part of our journey. We saw someone eating one of his curries when we returned from town. Idyll is tucked away in the hillside a short ways up from the main town area. Anil and his family are gracious hosts. The room has a lovely balcony with an incredible view! It truly is idyllic. Anil helped me organize transportation logistics (even driving me on his scooter at one point) and prepared a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. Highly recommend to all visitors looking for a true home stay while traveling to Ella.

Ruwan & Lindas place was just perfect for a relaxed stay. It is directly at the beach so I could see and hear the waves from my room what really calmed down. A really nice and cozy room right by the beach of Hikkaduwa. The people working there are very nice and friendly. The hospitality, location and food exceeded our expectations. It is located a couple of minutes from the busy parts of Hikkaduwa which suited us very well. Only downside was the lack of AC which the compensated with their hospitality.

The time in the cozy cabana unfortunately passed far too quickly! It was insane and we would go back anytime. :) a highlight of our trip! Stayed two nights mid December I enjoyed the place so much I added an additional night onto my stay. The location is perfect stright out onto the beach nicely out of the main town but easy to get to by tut tut if you want a bit of commercialism. The room is spacious has fan,fridge and Mossy net over the bed nice small veranda to sit out on after sunbathing etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful food was amazing didn’t bother going into hikkawuwdu had everything here.Ranga sorted tut tut out for my day exploring Galle fort area. Must not forget to mention that a pool and jacuzzi are available to use over the road at the family hotel.

Ruwan and Linda’s place is a really nice cabana above the cafe with views of the ocean. It is on the quieter part of the beach so made for a peaceful start to our trip. Ruwan and the team were really welcoming and helpful and I would recommend to everyone!

Prashan’s place is excellent. The villa is extremely clean, well maintained and excellent serviced. The staff is beyond expectations when comes to the house. Not sure about other matters, like organising tours or transfers in your behalf. Above everything is the food. What a big surprise it was. I didn’t know that could be something so tasty. It’s simply worthless to eat outside villa. Dinner and breakfast are fully serviced by your personal staff. The view from the terrace is simply stunning. Don’t miss the river trip. It’s amazing. Nice and highly rewarding. This is a dream place!

Very beautiful secluded place in the mountains! A piece of civilization in the forests. Squirrels ran in front of our windows, woke up to the singing of birds and the sound of the river. The house is very large and beautiful, there is a pool! The staff is very friendly, we were always happy to help! Great place for solitude with nature and relaxation!

This place is simply stunning. Such a beautifully designed house, set in a gorgeous location. The photos don’t do it justice (but new photos and video are forthcoming). It was a real pleasure to meet Prashan as well. And the staff were attentively and friendly. And finally, the on-site chef produced the best food we had in Sri Lankan!! I highly recommend this house and am thinking about how we can go back there to stay for a longer time.

The outside of the villa has so many place to sit and relax and enjoy the breathtaking views over the river and mountains. Sunjith and Sanjeev could not have been more helpful but always discreet and made a special effort on Christmas Day (nice hat!). If you want wine the shop is in Gampola about 20mins away so take your own. Definitely take a trip to the Ambuluwana Bio Diversity centre if you are feeling brave. The villa has a very calm nature, set in over-whelming beautiful surroundings. It is a unique and special place. We feel very lucky to have stayed here. Thank you again Team Dunhinda xxxx

Our stay for two nights at "Great view at Bernards" was way better than expected. He and his family were really welcoming and heart warming, they took time for us and had great tips for being in Kandy and to avoid tourist traps. The typical Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing and was taken at the promised great view. If we go back to Kandy one time we will definetly stay at Bernard's again!

Bernard, his wife and Surengala were the most fantastic hosts. We ended up staying longer than planned, since Bernard made every wish possible. We did a day trip to Sygiria and another to knuckles range. All organized by him! On the way he told us a lot about Sri Lanka, it’s people and their religion and stopped once in a while to have us taste some Sri Lankan culinary treasures. The place is also in a perfect location, far away from the city to find some relaxation on one of the three balconies with great views, but still within 20-minute walking distance to Kandy centre. The rooms are nice and spacious and the Sri Lankan breakfast is incredible. Thanks for everything!!! We hope we can come back some time and highly recommend everyone to stay with Bernard and his wife.

Bernard and his Family Are the Best hosts you can ask for! The breakfast was delicious and Every Morning it was Something new to try. The Communication With Bernard was easy and super fast, he gave us a lot of Information where to go and How to Go there. The room and house was super clean and we found Nothing to complain about. We had a lovely 3 day stay with Bernard and family. They welcomed us with a beautiful lunch. The breakfasts varied each day and were very tasty- and enhanced by the beautiful view over Kandy. Bernard was very helpful with tips and we had some informative chats about Sri Lanka. There was a lovely pond outside our door with small fish and tadpoles. I loved the in ground fishpond in the kitchen. Had a lovely massage up on the roof- great view and monkeys running over the roof. Thanks again!
