This Eco-friendly cabin is suitably located in the Matura Nature Reserve. The cabin is powered by an off-grid solar system with an adequate supply of rain water; It features close access to a secluded river. This location is perfect for Eco-seekers with its trail access to the Rio Seco Waterfall. Nested within reach of a number of Turtle watching sites and beaches, guests will enjoy an uniquely, tranquil experience. The moonlit nights are breathtaking!!! https://vimeo.com/317044299
“The cabin is a one of a kind experience. Located in the pristine forest of Matura, it is a magical getaway that offers the opportunity to unplug from daily living. The cabin itself is completely surrounded by nature, with the Rio Seco river right at the bottom of the house, and the Rio Seco waterfall a short hike away. The space was very well organised with many thoughtful (and cute) touches and with quality appliances that allowed us to cook our own food. During our stay, Troy and his father, Leon, were readily available via WhatsApp and cellphone. Overall, it is excellent value and an ideal getaway. Highly recommend to anyone.”
Crusoe’s view is perched on a hilltop in Rampanalgas along the north-eastern coastline of Trinidad between Salibea and Toco. Swimmers can enjoy the invigorating waters of the Atlantic Ocean which is directly opposite, while nature seekers have an exceptional opportunity to view the flora and fauna of an untainted environment and the captivating view of each day’s sunrise. Steps at the rear of the property provide access to the river which runs alongside the property.
“Lynette’s place is truly amazing!!! Nestled on top of a hill with an ocean view out front and lovely bird-filled forest out back. We loved relaxing on the front porch listening to the waves and enjoying the continuous ocean breeze. The beach across the street is great for wading. Big waves so a little rough for swimming, but a beautiful pebbly beach with a fresh water river flowing into the ocean. Balandra beach is close by and good for swimming with kids. The house is exactly as described, very clean and modern. We had everything we needed to cook for our family and the AC at night in the bedrooms was perfect. The location is great for wildlife tours such as Nariva swamp or hikes such as Rio Seco falls. Also not too far from Grand Riviere when the leatherback turtles are nesting. There are steps behind the house that go down to the river and jungle. I was nervous about finding the house but it is very easy to find. There is a sign on the Toco main road (see photos) and Lynette sent us landmarks that guided us in. Overall, this hidden gem was one of our most enjoyable Air B&B experiences, and definitely our favorite place to stay in Trinidad!”
My place is close to nature trails and leatherback turtle nesting. You’ll love my place because of the kitchen, the friendly staff and its close proximity to the beach.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
“Went to see the turtles, as long as you get the season right, you can get the very large turtles laying the eggs and the babies hatching at the same time. Well worth the trip if you like turtles. Accommodation is a 5 min walk from the beach and turtle conservation center. Permit can be bought for night viewing and a guide walks and talks you through it. A red torch hire is a must. White lights disturb the nesting turtles, and without some for of light you can end up walking on the baby turtles.”
