The medieval atmosphere of today's Sighisoara Fortress is given mainly by the appearance of the narrow streets, with the ever-changing route, by the architecture of the relatively well-preserved walls and towers and by its old churches. Going up Școlii Street towards the Church on the Hill, a group of five houses on the left side attract attention, before reaching the famous Covered Staircase built in 1642, which preserves the traditional Saxon appearance, with direct references to rural architecture. ​

The hostel complex is made up of three buildings, among which there is one of the oldest and most beautiful in Sighişoara, the "Shingle House", currently the only shingle house in th town. Its historical roots date back to the early 14th century.
