Welcome to Richard Flavin's Washi House! Richard Flavin (1943–2020) was a Japanese paper artist born in the US. He studied design in Boston and came to Japan in 1970. He later studied woodblock printing and developed a deep interest in the production of washi paper. He also cultivated the raw material for washi paper, kozo (paper mulberry). We invite those interested in washi and art to stay overnight and enjoy this space, reminiscent of a washi art museum, including these unfinished areas.
