Locals call it the "glass house,” because its lake-side walls are almost entirely made of glass. There are three bedrooms, with 2 master suites, and each bedroom faces the lake. It also boasts a bunk area that sleeps 4. The Mateos (named after our architect’s little son) are 4 small and separate bungalows with eye-popping views of Lake Nantahala and the Smoky Mountains through an 8-foot sliding glass door. Each Mateo has a queen size bed, private bath, ac/heat, and a kitchenette with a Keurig coffeemaker, 4.4 cu. ft. refrigerator with freezer, air fryer, microwave, tableware, and glassware for two people. The Mateos are not handicap-accessible. Pets are never allowed – 39D is a pet-free space ($200 penalty).
