Gilleleje Church was a waiting place for Jews until they could be transported. In 1943, 75 Jews were caught by the Gestapo on the church ceiling after a snitch had informed the Germans. Everywhere there are monuments of historical events. Every year there are various festivals in Gilleleje - "Hill" Festival, Harbour Festival, Jazz at the port and The Herring Day. The house is not rented to youth groups where everyone is aged 15-25. You can go to the beach, nature and shops within a maximum of 1.5 km and there is the possibility of long walks. Esrum monastery, Søborg lake, Gilleleje, Helsinge, Gribskov etc. are within 12 km. There are many activities in Gribskov municipality for all ages and interests
