This chalet is hand crafted out of native timbers and situated near the bush located next to a beautiful creek. Each chalet is fully self contained with a great deal of privacy. The handcrafted wooden staircase leads to the two bedrooms upstairs. Bathroom, kitchen and livingroom area are downstairs. The Southern Alps are visible from most locations on the property.
“What an incredible place to stay! The chalet was beautifully crafted and very cozy. We had a wonderful night stay in our very own chalet with private deck. We were able to cook our own meal and even sat outside enjoying the night sky and listening for (what we think might have been) kiwis. Very close to town, so it’s easy to pop in for a breakfast or for supplies, but also wonderfully quiet. We definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Franz Joseph!”
High Country Cabin is a stylishly decorated cabin in the heart of the Southern Alps on the South Island of New Zealand. Inspired by the Backcountry huts throughout the area, it provides a rustic country-style experience. Situated 15 minutes outside of Twizel in the heart of the Mackenzie, it has direct access to all of the natural amenities that the area is world famous for including snow sports, mountaineering, hiking & tramping, mountain-biking, hunting & fishing among many other activities.
“The high country Cabin is fantastic. It’s the perfect place to stay in the Mackenzie country, surrounded by beautiful views, and amazing mountains. The cabin is decorated impeccably and the little home touches like fresh towels and soaps make it perfect. The decor and wood fire top the whole thing off and the sheep for neighbors. I highly recommend staying here & if you can, book for two or three nights so you can enjoy the area. Thanks so much Kenny, we can’t wait to return.”
