Quiet retreat adjoining open countryside
“We have just returned from 4 nights at John's in Winster. Lovely little cottage in his beautiful garden. A basket full of walk suggestions, 2 pounds within walking distance (one is 2 minute walk away), a village shop with all you could need and beautiful countryside on your door step. If you like walking you'll be happy. Matlock is 10minutes drive away for meals out, some great bars and restaurants (we went to hatters for burgers and waffles and Herd for dinner--both recommended). Matlock bath illuminations are a great event too in the autumn. Thanks John,we hope to be back as soon as time allows!”
A cosy, quirky 17th/19th century cottage with simple charm. Small, stone, single storey one bed dwelling that used to be the village shop. Log burner in the spacious lounge. A kitchen with everything you need and it's own secret garden with views of Riber castle which can be seen whilst sitting in the rustic garden room. Ideally located for exploring the Peak District National park and the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Matlock 2.5 miles away with pubs, supermarket, restaurants, shops etc.
“We really enjoyed our stay in this cute little quaint cottage. It was the perfect size and had all these home touches to it. The check in was easy with the key safe. Parking was close by. The location is perfect for driving to the peak district and matlock nearby. The garden was a plus and the log burner was just perfect for the cold nights. We were able to use the cooker and shower with ease. And finally Trudy is such lovely host! Next time we visit the peak, we will definitely stay here again! Thank you for such a lovely stay.”
A lovely period cottage comes with a wonderful welcome and a romantic four-poster bed and a 5* shower. The location within the small courtyard gives a private and peaceful stay.
“Would reccomend this cottage as a great location to visit the Dale's and Peak district. Very cosy cottage to relax in if the weather precludes you from getting out and exploring the surrounding area. Anne provides a lovely welcome pack and keeps in touch to check things are ok, we did not need advise on where to go but I am sure it would be forth comming if you needed it by Anne. A quaint village pub is close by that you can walk to which serves good pub grub but don't rely on it to provide your holiday food as it has limited opening hours.”
