Private, and tucked away from the crowds, quiet, comfortable cabin in the woods, our Koosah Cabin is the perfect base camp for 2 to 3 people as you explore all the McKenzie River has to offer. Our property is nestled in the woods, just far enough off the highway that all you can hear is the sound of gentle rushing water. Koosah is almost identical to Tamolitch Cabin. We welcome people from all backgrounds and hope to share with you our love of the outdoors and our beautiful place in the woods!
“Wow what a special location and peaceful cabin! One of my favorite things about it hit me right when I walked in the door: the cabin smells amazing, like freshly cut wood (Pine? Cedar? I don’t know, I live in the city, but it was nice.) By now I’m used to the fact that most Oregon rental houses can smell a bit musty, moldy, like old bedding and/or wet dog. This cabin is the opposite of that. It has new bedding, rug, couch/pillows, plush white towels, etc. It’s clean, dry and warm, with good heating and everything ready to make a fire in the fireplace if you want. I was surprised because it’s pet friendly but there was no trace of pet hair/smell. There’s a great little porch that looks out into the woods, with a table and chairs. The river is a few minutes walk down a little trail (no river view from the cabin, but you can hear it). There are cabins close next door, but when you’re in the cabin looking out, you wouldn’t know they’re there. The kitchen has new appliances and is stocked with coffee, tea, cooking oil/seasonings. All the other amenities in the listing were present as described and in good working order. It was great being there in the spring, we enjoyed blue sky and sunshine, and of course that awesome forest smell. We’re already dreaming of coming back in the summer for a peaceful escape from the heat. It’s easy to find your way there, follow their red signs from the main road. It’s so close to the I-5 corridor and Bend, but you really feel like you’re getting away from it all. What a nice place!”
Picture yourself enjoying breakfast or grilling the trout you caught that morning on the deck watching rafters, kayaks, and fishing boats drift by. This cabin was built in the 1940's and though it's original charm has been preserved it has been updated to provide many modern amenities and comforts.
“Rachel's place on the McKenzie river is amazing! We stopped here on our way to Washington state as we were relocating for work seeking a special place to spend my husband's birthday and this was perfect! Rachel was a great host and communicated quickly with us and had all of the amenities you could need. We could not get enough of the river that is just below us on the gorgeous deck! Rachel has plenty of movies and books if you get rained in and offers plenty of gear for your outdoor adventures! We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this beautiful cabin!”
Made especially for airbnb, our adorable garden shed sits in our lovely front garden nestled between the magnolia tree and rhododendrons. There is a slight river view as the shed sits on McKenzie riverfront property. You'll have access to our riverside beach and the household kitchen and bathroom. On the wild and scenic portion of the McKenzie River - very beautiful! There is great hiking nearby, scenic waterfalls, hot springs, picturesque golf, whitewater rafting, biking, fishing and relaxing.
“Jill and Jim were wonderful hosts and I would most definitely stay at their place again! Their home/property is a hidden paradise tucked into the woods along the shores of the mighty McKenzie River. Scattered throughout the property are enchanting and whimsical gardens, fountains, lights, art, and even lemon trees! Plenty of delightful places to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book while listening to the river. I particularly loved the chairs/swing right on the beach and the outdoor "common area" for dining and socializing. I typically don't stay at places with shared bathrooms/kitchens but Jill and Jim were so welcoming and kind that I never felt awkward walking into their home. They greeted me with smiles and a kind word each time I came in and out of the house. I was staying in McKenzie for a few days of quiet time to myself. Jim and Jill created space for me to enjoy their gardens/beach by myself but also sat with me in the garden for a few hours sharing stories and talking about current events. They seemed to leave the "interaction level" up to me which was very much appreciated! I highly recommend this place!”
