Balnabea is just a short drive to Glenshee Ski Centre and is a great base for outdoor activities such as hillwalking and biking as well as visiting the local castles and distilleries. The house enjoys a secluded rural location in a small village but the pretty Highland Perthshire towns of Blairgowrie and Pitlochry are just a short drive away. The house features a sauna, large drying room and a spacious garden so it a great place for families or groups of friends, and dogs are welcome too!
“We enjoyed our stay in this amazing cottage immensely. The special touches like the coffee, tea, honey and jam made us very welcome. The location was excellent for our visit to the Braemar Gathering. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has space galore and still feeling very cozy. We can't fault it in any way. We didn't use the sauna but if we didn't have such a busy program for the days we might have. There is a BBQ in the garden and a beautiful large table and chairs. A must stay for a group of up to 10 people. Definitely worth the money.”

The Hideaway is an off-grid wooden cabin at the edge of a mature woodland, 100 metres from private road and parking place, overlooking two beaver ponds. Ecoshower in separate hut, (decommissioned in cold weather) and composting loo in woods behind. Wood stove (with an inital supply) and two ring gas camping stove with grill. Simple cooking and eating equipment provided. Comfortable 4 poster bed made with wood cut by beavers!. Z bed and hammock. Linen and towels provided.
“Although the accommodation in Hideaway is very basic that is part of it's charm. The separate shower worked very well with plenty of hot water, and the composting toilet although a little walk from the cottage was also fine. We needed to use the log burner but had no trouble lighting it as a starter kit was provided. We came to the hideaway to see the beavers, and we did , so we went away happy. It was very rainy during our stay, and quite muddy underfoot in places, so a good pair of wellies was essential. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next summer.”
