Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Dumfries and Galloway

The place was absolutely beautiful, clean and had everything you need. The house was massive, the pictures don’t do it justice. The bedrooms and beds were super comfy and the bathrooms were spotless. There’s a spacious garden in the back and lots of space for parking. The location was perfect , not too far from the main locations in the Lake District. The check-in process was very easy and David’s instructions were clear and easy to follow. David was responsive and gave us lots of local recommendations. If you’re a big group traveling by car, I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful house with so much character. The location was so peaceful yet close to Dumfries where we were easily able to get take-out for dinner. We only stayed one night as a stopover on our way home but we found the house to be comfortable and well-equipped. The milk and water in the fridge plus all the seasonings/spices in the kitchen were such a nice surprise that we don't often find in AirBnBs, as were the very nice bathroom amenities. The only thing I'd mention - our daughter had us up at 5:30 am because there are only curtains, no blinds/shutters, in the bedrooms and, although the curtains are thick, it was still very bright in the bedrooms as soon as the sun started rising, which is very early at this time of year. Just keep this in mind if you're coming with young kids who are light sleepers!

We had a great time staying. Carolines house is lovely and had everything we needed for a long weekend. Throughout our stay there was a problem with hot tub which was out of Caroline's hands but she made sure to compensate with a meal on her which was very much appreciated. Lots of lovely little touches and gifts around the house. Would definitely come back and see this place in the warmer weather thanks for having us.

We stayed for 4 nights at Fern Forrest House and had the most wonderful time. It catered brilliantly to all our needs: my wife and I, 9yrs old daughter, mother-in-law (with some mobility issues) and our dogs. Firstly the house was super clean, stylishly decorated and really well equipped. Layout was good with a downstairs bedroom and 2 upstairs (all ensuite)....which for us worked well. The kitchen is large, light and a lovely place to sit and chat - which also worked well. From the house you can walk to the first of the 2 lakes on a well maintained path (with a lovely Fairy trail) in 5 mins and the second lake is 5-10mins further on...both beautiful. The walled garden is a short walk as is the maze - both excellent fun. The garden worked well, the BBQ was new and there was a plentiful supply of logs etc. Portpatrick, the long glen walk down to the beach, Kennedy Castle Gardens, Killantringan Lighthouse and Beach were fab. Finally, Anne the host was really excellent. 10/10 👍

Perfect location for the wedding we went to nearby and house has everything you need, plenty space and was spotless. Haylie was a really good host and very quick yo respond to questions and queries.

We had a wonderful stay at 59 Kirkgate in Dumfries. Ben and Vicky’s communication was excellent—friendly, helpful, and responsive. Their flexibility around our arrival and departure was much appreciated. The cottage is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable, with standout beds that made for restful nights after active days outdoors. It’s a perfect base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway, from coastlines to hills. We especially enjoyed the Multiverse, which Ben and Vicky kindly recommended. The cottage has everything for a relaxing break—well-equipped kitchen, thoughtful touches like a gin trolley and milk frother, and a cosy log fire. The central heating kept things toasty too. Our dog was also warmly welcomed, with bowls and a pet-friendly vibe throughout. All in all, 59 Kirkgate is a true home away from home. We’d return in a heartbeat!

We have stayed in 63 Air Bnbs and I must say that Deborah’s is the most luxurious. The interior decor would do well in a magazine. From the plush cushions on the super comfortable sofa, to the beautiful lamps, pictures, vases, and ornaments. We loved all the nods to Scottish culture. The kitchen was well appointed and the dinnerware stunning. The master bedroom was sumptuous. Stunning decor, linen and beautiful styling. The bed was super comfy too. The bathroom is magnificent with shower and jacuzzi bath and so many extra touches. Thank you Deborah for all the hard work you have put into making us feel like royalty! Also for the sandwiches, cake, milk, chips, chocolates. You certainly deserve nothing under 5 stars, and we would give you 10 if we could.

Second stay at Liz’s place. We were happy with it on the first stay but the second proved we were right to go back. Everything you need for a home from home. Ideal location. Close to town and beach. Everything in the house is quality. Very comfortable all round. Facilities are easy to use. Good restaurants and bars very close, also not far from the train station. We were in Glasgow within the hour. We had a lovely break this time as well. Look forward to the next time.

An amazing place to stay, beautiful surroundings and within easy drive of forest trails and beaches. Dog friendly & fantastic hosts. We hope to stay again in the future

Nicky and Steve are very friendly and helpful hosts. Location is very peaceful with lots of character. Great location for exploring the area. We played golf at Glenluce and Newton Stewart, and there is lot more to do in the area. Pool table very good to have available on the day of torrential Lounge area is very comfortable. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area.

Highly recommend, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Charlotte's beautiful herdie hideaway. it is set in a wonderfully secure feild surrounded by sheep and lambs this time of year with views of the countryside all around. The location was so peaceful and secluded perfect to escape the daily grind of life now a days. The hut had everything you need and Charlotte has thought of everything and the bed was so comfy ! it was lovely waking up to the beautiful sunrises and sounds of nature and to top it off the hut is in its own secure feild so our dog loved the freedom to roam while we relaxed around the firepit in an evening. Charlotte was super helpful and responsive to all questions asked and even let us check in early. We will definitely be back again soon !

The lodge was absolutely gorgeous, cosy and clean. Very communicative hosts and really straight forward process checking both in and out. Loads of utensils and amenities available to use which is not always guaranteed in a self catering stay! Thank you so much, it was lovely ⭐️

Fantastic set up with stunning views. The pods are very cosy and comfortable. In agreement with other reviews. My wife and two daughters loved our two night stay here and were lucky enough to visit with perfect blue skies. Would highly recommend.

We had a fabulous time in our little pod! Was nice to feel really off grid while also being close to shops and amenities. The hot tub was a bit of work to get hot enough but worth it when it was! Think the steep hill from car to the pod itself could have been mentioned in the listing, as we have family who would have struggled! Overall for us though, this was perfect and exactly what we needed! I am sure we will be back! 🙂👍🏻

We had a lovely stay in Mallard - it was such a cosy place to stay. Quiet and peaceful with just what you needed, and a very comfy bed. Showers were excellent - hot and lots of pressure, location perfect, very peaceful and our little doggie loved it. Marion was a great host, upgraded us at our request when we realised Mallard was free! (Originally stayed in Teal which was also lovely). Can’t fault it - we have already booked to come back in June! Had an absolutely lovely stay at the cabin, David was a great host, very responsive and welcoming. The hot tub after a long walk up Carrock had to be the highlight of the stay. Would recommend to anyone wanting a restful time away in a beautiful location.

We loved the woodland lodge. It was comfortable, cosy and relaxing. It was extremely peaceful at night with the log burner and complete silence. Lovely hosts and beautiful lodge. We hope to visit again
