Experience an authentic Maltese townhouse newly transformed into an upmarket guest house, in an excellent location right outside the fortified hill-top settlement of Mdina, the Silent City, with the town's bus interchange only one minute walk away.

Located at ground floor level, the spacious room is easily accessible. It has a separate kitchenette/lounge area, and a large shower bathroom.

The room is equipped with the latest tv technology offering thousands of channels. Free wifi throughout.

Where you’ll be

The house is located 5 minutes walk from Mdina gate, just across the street from Howard Gardens and 200 metres away from Roman Villa. One minute walk away is the Rabat Interchange where several buses depart for Valletta (45min journey) and all other significant destinations. Also a few minutes walk away from many fine restaurants and bars, shops, baker, pharmacy, bank, souvenir shops, fine clothing and jewellery. The alley on the first corner will take you into a labyrinth of alleys where you can get a glimpse of the locals’ daily life and activities in the heart of Rabat. The location is only 5km away from Dingli Ciffs and 10km away from the nicest beaches on the island Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, Golden Bay, Popeye's Village and Mellieha Bay (all are one bus ride away).

Sitting on top of a hill overlooking a large portion of the island, Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. Impressive palaces line its narrow, shady streets. Mdina has become a major tourist attraction. Rabat, the village that neighbours Mdina, on the other hand, is known for its quiet, more rural character and natural beauty. It is also well established on the tourist map due to its archaeological and historical sites, amongst which The Roman Villa (Domus Romana), catacombs, St. Paul's Grotto and the fine churches and monasteries. Rabat is also known for one of the few forested areas the country knows, at Buskett, the entrance to which can be found on the outskirts of the village.

The house is fronted by Howard Gardens, a very well-maintained public landscaped garden, with the ditch below forming a natural border between Rabat and Mdina. It offers a good sight-seeing spot on one end, plenty of benches to sit and relax in the shade of the trees, as well as a kiosk serving drinks and light lunches or snacks. Places to visit in the area: Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, Mdina Cathedral, Mdina Glass, St. Paul's Cathedral Museum, Fontanella tea gardens, Palazzo de Piro, Mdina Dungeons, The Knights of Malta, National Museum of Natural History, and a lot more!

As for crazier nightlife, though the very young might tend to look for accommodation in St. Julians area which is the mecca of nightlife in Malta, it is worth mentioning that two of Malta’s largest and most popular nightclubs outside of Paceville/St. Julians area, are located on the outskirts of Rabat. Gianpula Complex and Numero Uno, both of which are open from Friday to Sunday with various events and international dj’s throughout summer, are located a short taxi ride away from our guesthouse.

Check-in is normally from 2pm onwards. Kindly provide your estimated time of arrival when making your reservation. We are happy to accommodate an earlier check-in upon request whenever possible, depending on previous guests' departure time. You may drop your luggage at the guesthouse ahead of the check-in time, and also leave your luggage with us after check-out to make the most of your visit to Mdina & Rabat.

Self check-in via access codes is available at the accommodation - the codes are provided on the day of arrival. Please note there is no reception desk at the guesthouse, but I am always available to answer your questions or requests, suggest restaurants etc. and I am normally only 10 mins away if required. In addition we have a live-in housekeeper at the property.

We do suggest to book our airport transfers to ensure a hassle-free arrival. Full information about the guest house facilities, the area, shops nearby, bus routes, etc. are provided in each room, additionally guests may contact us at any time before or during their stay with any queries.
