The name of the river derives from the Old Norse "Griótá", meaning "stony stream". The cottage dates to the mid-1800s and has recently had an extensive refurbishment bringing the property up to the highest of standards. The annex is located at the bottom of Blencathra. It’s a perfect base to explore all local walks and enjoy the local surroundings. Within a couple of minutes walk from the annex there is a lovely coffee shop & two pubs. We are 5-10 minutes to the Railway Line which is a 4 mile walk which takes you to the closest town, Keswick - here you will find supermarkets & shops.
