Waterfront holiday rentals in Makry Gialos

An absolute dream vacation! The location right on the beach could not be better, and the roof terrace was the highlight of my stay – I spent every day there. René and Nadine are top hosts, and Georgios on site welcomed me warmly and gave me a great briefing. The tips I got made my stay even better – they were really worth their weight in gold. The penthouse is perfectly equipped and offers everything you need for an all-round successful vacation. The location of the penthouse is just perfect – right by the sea and within walking distance of charming cafes and restaurants. The surrounding area also offers many sandy beaches. Particularly noteworthy is how accommodating René and Nadine were: They allowed me to arrive earlier and depart later, which made my stay even more relaxed. Absolutely recommended! I will definitely come back and can only warmly recommend this Airbnb

We had a wonderful time at this place! The view is amazing, the sea is right there, the decor is pleasant, everything was new and clean. There were three of us so one of us was using the sofa as a bed—it folds out into a really nice full size bed, which was great. The apartment does get hot in the afternoons, being right under the roof, so we found that sometimes we had to use AC, which we normally avoid. But, to compensate, you get a lovely balcony to sit and look at the sea.

Very nice flat. You can hear the sea at night. Great communication and the grandma living downstairs is very kind and welcoming.

Before arriving Pantelis provided a lot of very helpful information, details of where to park for free with maps, but also very detailed suggestions for things to do to get the most out of the area. The flat is right in the centre of town, with immediate access to the bars and restaurants. The view of the sunrise from the balcony in the mornings was superb.

A truly fantastic place to stay. Exceptionally well stocked apartment with absolutely everything you would need for a long or short stay. Close to lots of restaurants, but well stocked kitchen if you prefer to cook. Beautiful terrace for dining, both undercover and outside. Host Viky is charming and friendly and could not be more helpful. We hope to return another time.

14 days of best weather... 14 sunsets... the sea right in front of the balcony door. Shady trees and sun loungers on the beach... There is everything you need within walking distance, several mini-markets, restaurants and cafes... if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to be (even at the beginning/mid-October)... Christina was a very friendly and always available landlady...highly recommended ..THANK YOU

Located on the 4th floor of a building and located very close to the center of Agios Nikolaos, this accommodation is spacious, very clean and offers all the amenities needed for short and long stays. The host, Irini is very nice, welcoming and is a great source of information. The apartment offers a breathtaking view of the bay and the port of Agios Nikolaos. Despite the scarcity of parking spaces, we have always been able to find a nearby location. Many restaurants near the accommodation and so many beautiful discoveries to do in the area. We would recommend this listing for all of these reasons.

Fantastic location and views, right in the center, with the corresponding noise pollution especially on Saturday/weekend (80s/90s disco bar, live concert outside, late returnees). For such a central location, it was quite OK. For noise-sensitive people, however, it is not good in season. Ideal for excursions in the area at the harbor, bus stop right in front of the house, tourist office and taxi stand 50 meters away.

House with the sea (still warm at the end of October) a short walk away, as you can see from the photo, clean, like new. Friendly and proactive host, who contributed to a very pleasant stay. Weaknesses? I didn't find any.

I had such a good time here. The place is exactly as advertised and I felt right at home (with a bit of help from Sisi the cat). Pinelopi had so many great tips for me on what to do, and I did many of them and they were all great! I especially enjoyed all the hikes in the gorges. I’ll come back in a warmer month to visit the beautiful beaches around the apartment!

We had a really nice time at Annalis Apartment. The flat had everything you need. The small village has a minimarket and two Tavernes. They had typical Crete food. The beach is really nice. A bigger village is 10 minutes with a car. In the area you will find some more beaches and some nice hiking tours. We really recommend the apartment and always would come back for another stay.

Staying in Agios Nikolaos is usually more costly per night than most other places in Crete so we were really delighted that Dimitris's accommodation gave us all the things we were looking for whilst being within our budget. Dimitris was very welcoming with some useful extras & treats that helped get our stay underway. He showed us around the property and provided some great info on locations and tavernas worth visiting during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable & the shower very modern, both things were important to us. The air conditioning was efficient & the garden & shared beach area [with the adjacent villa] was lovely. The bedroom & bathroom were slightly smaller than other places we've stayed on Crete, and if walking into the centre for an evening, the walk back when dark would be maybe a bit much [return taxi a better idea] though none of these detracted from our enjoyment. Overall we were very happy & would certainly recommend Dimitris's villa.

The apartment is beautifully located, with beautiful terrace with direct views of the beautiful bay. And on the church across the street, which was a real asset in this Easter period: lots of festivities and unique atmosphere! The pebble beach was very quiet (end of April) and is located directly below the apartment, accessible via a path. Ideal for quiet swimming, snorkeling (spotting quite a bit of fishing and aquatic life), relaxing. We were well received and Irene was very helpful with everything. Fruit and lots of goodies were provided, really pleasant. The apartment has a pleasant atmosphere, is already a bit rustic but therefore extra attractive for us. Highly recommended; the photos say it all.

Michail's place was exactly as advertised. Extremely clean. Perfectly located within a short distance from great restaurants and coffee shops. Great view of the lake. Basic coffee and snacks were left out for us which we really appreciated. The road noise continues pretty late and can be a bit much at times but not enough for us to lessen our 5 star all around rating. Would 100% stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Mapia's home, everything was what we were expecting with the added bonus of meeting Mapia's parents and other members of extended family. They were all available if we had any problems (we didn't) but not intruding at all. George another family member, introduced himself and we could go to him if we had any questions. A lovely relaxing holiday, thank you Mapia 😊

Yannis was an extremely friendly and helpful host, making us feel right at home and had a lot of helpful tips on the area. The house is very peaceful and spacious and extremely close to the sea. Thank you for having us!

what a cosy clean place..the housekeeper came on a regular basis to keep it clean and provide clean linen/towels..the views from the balcony are stunning.michael the host is very hospitable and friendly nothing was too much trouble for him he met us at the apartment and he had provided the necessities to keep us going ie milk bread etc as we arrived late evening ..he arranged transport for us from the airport so it was a pleasant journey ..thankyou michael we loved it *****

The accommodation of Gogo and Lefteris is a little gem and the location was absolutely heavenly for us. Since we were there in October, it was overall very nice and quiet, the taverns and beaches all around still lively, but never full. In the small apartment, everything you need is there. If something is missing, you are guaranteed to get it from the hosts. The view of the sea from the windows is indescribably beautiful! If you like to cook yourself, you have to adjust to a very well functioning single induction hotplate and a mini fridge in which you cannot store much. But it worked very well for us. Gogo and Lefteris are very friendly, accommodating people who do everything to make the stay as pleasant as possible. We will be happy to come back!

This apartment is truly impressive - spotlessly clean, incredibly spacious, and very comfortable. The large balcony offers a perfect spot to relax with the sea just metres away. The bathroom has a great shower. During our stay, a few evenings were quite chilly, but the heating function on the AC unit kept us warm and cozy. Apostolis is the perfect host. He contacted us before we left the UK with clear arrival instructions, met us at the apartment, and took the time to show us everything we needed to know. He welcomed us with fruit and wine and was genuinely keen for us to enjoy our stay. When we visited Heraklion, he kindly recommended a great place to eat, and on our second morning, he surprised us with some delicious Greek sweet treats for breakfast. The only slight downside was some noise from the bars below in the bedrooms, though we were still able to sleep. However, waking up to the stunning sea view from the balcony made up for it. Wonderful. Property exactly as described. Alexandra was a wonderful host. We were spoilt with extras-cakes, a sun hat, toiletries, towels, fruit , tea & coffee I highly recommend staying at Alexandra’s and Maria. X

The apartment is top renovated, perfectly located just next to the sea, with a perfect view over the sea and harbor. Perfect beach for swimming in the morning, or whenever required. Good style decoration, that fits the apartment very well. Well equipped kitchen, also with all the things required for cooking already there, salt, pepper, oil,… The best bed mattresses we have tried, which can sometime be a challenge when sleeping out. Very helpful host that received us, even though we arrived 0:30 in the night. This is not our last stay there.

We had a great night at Dafni's place which is very welcoming. The small private terrace with sea view for breakfast or aperitif is exceptional! Beautiful Voulisma Beach is within walking distance from the bedroom. If time had allowed us, we would have spent more time at Dafni's place. We can wholeheartedly recommend this listing!
