The Nishimura Residence is a traditional Nara machiya townhouse over 110 years old.In 2019, I renovated ‘Grandma’s house’, where I spent a lot of time as a child, and opened it as an inn.As the Nara machiya has been preserved in its original state, it has many inconveniences and is not a luxurious hotel where everything is provided. 　Instead, I believe there is no better place than Naramachi to soak up the ‘comfortable rusticity’ that permeates the town.In the hope of helping guests ‘reflect and recover’ in an environment away from the hustle and bustle of the station area, we provide books in the room and a vegetarian breakfast.(Almost all of the books in the room are available for purchase.) 　Please spend this evening in the tranquil surroundings of the Nishimura residence and Naramachi, listening to the voice of your own heart.

I have lived in Iga Ueno for a few years. Growing up in a residential area, living in a castle town was a new experience for me. This land with its old-fashioned townscape and famous water is hot in summer and cold in winter. But that's why the rice, vegetables, and meat are also delicious. There are many areas where nature remains, but few areas where the old townscape remains intact. I want to preserve this townscape. To that end, I want many people to experience a nostalgic way of life and culture. As such a place, we renovated a row house left by our ancestors and opened it as the Daiji, a soy sauce shop that had closed. You are always welcome! Although you can come by public transportation, it is more convenient to come by car as it is quite a rural area. The hot spring is 5 minutes by car. A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!
