Revitalising a 106-year-old traditional inn and storehouse: Mitsuhama Ryokan, a 188-square-metre property with a Japanese moss garden and semi-open-air bath [Limited to one group per day]

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ ◆ Limited to one group per day / Private rental – An immersive stay experiencing the rebirth of a long-established ryokan and a storehouse ◆ ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ■ Location, history, features ■ In the port town of Mitsuhama in Matsuyama/Dogo, a 106-year-old long-established kaiseki ryokan (formerly the Kaganaga Ryokan), built in the Edo period, with four white-walled earthen storehouses surrounded by four gardens, has been gradually renovated and revitalised (currently in the process of revitalisation), with white plastered earthen walls and natural Kannonji bamboo fences. This is an old private house inn that initially opened as an accommodation facility for almost 100% inbound guests. We are renovating the semi-open-air bath inside the storehouse and the area around the water. ■ Soothing moss garden ■ There are three moss gardens: the front garden, the middle garden, and the back garden. Well water flows everywhere, and there is a stream that flows between the holy water basin, the ladle, the deer stone, and the stepping stones. The pot pond is home to koi, goldfish, medaka, conger eel, and river shrimp, and it is a biotope space visited by wild birds. ■ Check-in lounge (cafe/lounge area), souvenir corner ■ You can enjoy authentic cocktails on the ground floor of the annex (main building). There is a souvenir corner with imported interior goods, accessories, natural stones, etc. from Japan, Bali, and other places.

Perfect location for your Shikoku trip! Private accommodation with stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea! Sleeps up to 6 / 113 m² / Perfect for recharging body and mind /

An ‘inn that has the Seto Inland Sea all to itself right in front of it’ Welcome to Renovacation Shimizu-machi.I’m Masamori Tanaka, your host. This accommodation is a place where, the moment you open the front door, you’ll think, ‘Oh, this place is great.’With the Seto Inland Sea stretching out before you, simply gazing at the water is enough to make you feel at ease.In the morning, you wake up slowly to the sound of the waves, and in the evening, the sea gently turns red. It’s not flashy, but it’s a time when those unexpected moments stay in your memory. The location is Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture. It is a town with a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere and a warm, welcoming character.Supermarkets and restaurants are also around 5–10 minutes away by car, so there are no inconveniences during your stay.Furthermore, it is conveniently located as a base for exploring Shikoku, with popular destinations such as Matsuyama and the Shimanami Kaido around an hour's drive away, Kagawa and Kochi just over an hour away, and Tokushima around two hours away. As the entire property is available for rent, you can enjoy a relaxing stay without worrying about your neighbours.Whether you’re with family, friends or on your own, we hope you enjoy your time here.We want this to be a place where people think, ‘That was nice’.

A house overlooking the Seto Inland Sea

The ultimate hideaway to escape the noisy, busy city, and spend time quietly with family, loved ones, and close friends, just watching the sea. I created this accommodation because I wish there was a place like this. ☆This is not a hotel. We want you to think about how you want to spend your time. On sunny days, enjoy morning coffee on the large wooden deck. In the cold winter, warm up with a wood stove, and make and eat a delicious meal yourself. Play your favorite music, and read surrounded by books lining the walls. Take a walk to Gero Station while catching a glimpse of life in Gero. Fishing at sea, picking azaleas, bamboo shoots, and wild potatoes in the mountains, and eating them yourself. Long stays are recommended. Based at Shimonada Cabin, it is about an hour's drive to Matsuyama City. 2.5 hours to Shimanto River. 3 hours to Shikoku Karst. Shopping can be done in Iyo City or Nagahama Town, or you can buy from local fishmongers and greengrocers and cook for yourself. Of course, you can also eat at a nearby restaurant if you book. Anyway, I want you to relax at Shimonada Cabin. One night is too wasteful. I recommend at least 2 days. It is a place that can be enjoyed in good weather or bad.
