“This little lake house was adorable and perfect for what we needed it for. We were just in town for the night for NYE and needed a place for 3 couples to crash. We also enjoyed the little golf cart ride down to the house from where we parked our car- it was a little bit of an adventure in the snow. I’d probably suggest older people avoid staying here in the winter. Definitely more of a summer location and the snow/hilly trip down to the house on the golf cart might not be easy for someone who struggles to get around. BUT if I come back to the east side of Michigan in the summer time, we would definitely consider this location as it’s absolutely beautiful and has a lot to offer for a summer vacation!”
This is a cozy bedroom in the downtown Lake Orion.
“Renata is a kind and gracious Brazilian soul. Everything was as close to perfect as possible with our stay. The house is a century old mission /craftsman style with a thoroughly modern renovation, in the heart of downtown, walking distance from several nice restaurants. You get your own private bath, and the room is fairly secluded, on the first floor. There’s always room for improvement with a new listing, but she went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I’m always excited when I discover a good new listing with no reviews. I will be honest and say that I almost hesitate to leave this review, because I don’t want the secret to “get out” and the room to be booked when I need it, which leads to higher prices. But the truth is, Renata doesn’t know how special she, and this listing, are... And something tells me she deserves the success that inevitably comes from one of my reviews. Please treat her home with respect.”
Enchanting "cottage" in Lake Orion-convenient to Auburn Hills, Great Lakes Crossing, DTE Music, 45 min to Detroit.
“This cottage is a hidden gem just a short drive from Detroit. First, let’s discuss the noise. Lucy makes it clear that this house isn’t soundproof and I think it scares some people off, the times for us noticing the outside world were when the snow plows were cleaning the streets. We stayed in the house when Lake Orion was expecting 5”-8” of snow so the multi ton trucks were out in full force and there is no house that will block out the sound of metal grinding on roads. If you are downstairs watching tv or chatting over a home cooked meal you won’t notice the road, going to bed you may take 5 extra minutes to get used to the background noise. It is not bad at all. Second, this house is gorgeous we did our research and saw the before pictures on Zillow and WOW this remodel/restoration is amazing. I personally loved the pocket doors, floors, and vintage flare it screams cottage in ever corner. Third, the high end features make a big difference. The kitchen is gorgeous, and has all the essentials. The hardware on the farmhouse sink is amazing and it’s small details like this that really make the house special. We loved cooking on the gas stove and having a quick bite over the island. The bathrooms are also top notch and the meticulous detail they went through shines bright. This was our first stay in an Airbnb and now it will not be our last, we are already looking at dates for when we can come back to this perfect little cottage. Things to consider; It’s on a busy road, which made entering/exiting the driveway a task. This isn’t a dealbreaker as those traveling on the road seemed to be aware, but something to keep in mind. Pro tip back into the driveway for quicker exits. The smart TV in the house has Netflix, YouTube, Pandora but no Hulu, HBO, Disney+ etc. There also isn’t a DVD player. Lucy has cable in the house and a strong WiFi which was nice. We brought a throw blanket from home to cuddle up on the sofa. The furnace in the house works great but it also helps to have a comfy blanket and I’d suggest bringing one. Make sure to bring warm cozy socks, with the no shoes house rule (and you can’t blame them for that when you see the floors) you’ll want to keep your toes warm! The water gets very hot VERY fast, be careful washing dishes and taking showers the water heater almost works too well if that can be a thing. We bought fresh flowers and put them in the center of the table and it made the little cottage feel even more homey, there were multiple vases in the cabinet. We only slept in the king bed upstairs and it was comfortable (with a feather-down mattress topper!!!) but it was on the firm side so keep that in mind if you like soft mattresses the downstairs bedroom might be a better fit. Make sure to check for the essentials BEFORE you get settled in, for instance we bought extra paper towels because there were only a few left on the role.”
