Wow...just wow. Hideaway is by far the most impressive Airbnb in which we've ever stayed. From the attention to detail in the structure and amenities, to the wonderful care from Jennifer and Crispin, to the magnificent natural setting, it really cannot be overstated. The open air structure invites all the natural beauty of the country into your living space. We enjoyed the weeklong company of some local bullfinches, anoles, and a gregarious Brown Trembler. From the porch, we watched the chattering Jaco parrots feeding in the trees and stared at the sailboats in the bay. All of this grounded us in an unforgettable vacation of snorkeling, scuba, hiking, and meeting the beautiful and friendly people of Dominica. I even enjoyed driving after a couple days acclimating! The country is in the "sweet spot" for adventuring tourists who want endless opportunities for nature, a true feeling of safety and security, without the crowds of cruise ships and artificial tourist traps. Bravo!!

Arriving in Portsmouth in the late afternoon, we were greeted by Shervin's mom Anita, as if we were a little family. We were alone in a large 3 bedroom house, with a large living room/well-equipped kitchen. The accommodation is well located for visiting northern Dominica. We had a very, very good stay there.

The apartment unit 3 is up a steep hill but out of the noise from the main road. Keyless entry on the front door. If you walk up the hill even l more is Champs that has good food if you don't want to cook and down the hill is the grocery store Savers if you do. We did not use the kitchen much because we ate out in the area but the fridge was big and kept our drinks cold. The cold AC is only in the bedroom and there are instructions to keep the other doors closed. Very hot shower and local bars of soap. View from the balcony is beautiful and breezy. It probably was better before but they can't help that the tree below has grown to block some of it. If you are in a different unit above or to the right, it is probably perfect view of sunset. We did not meet the hosts in person but they were very responsive and kind. It was a good option for us the first 3 nights because we took one day to sleep in the AC with the blackout curtains. Really helped us get ready for all the adventure ahead.

I understand the practicality of not giving a 100 ✨️ but if I could if would be for this host. Julius was very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated that his values were family oriented for his house rules as it matched my family perfectly. Definitely perfect for children due to the importance of an alcohol and illicit substance free zone. Everything is labeled and you are always helped with having fresh linen replaced. I would definitely recommend making host's life easier by actually telling them what goes on in detail. They appreciate it! Very understanding, extremely informative and very kind. Everything about our stay was IMPECCABLE. Superior host.
