Just minutes from campus, downtown, and the airport, The Depot is a historic home attached to 5 wooded acres, a lake, and a "big sky" view across the prairie for watching sunsets and night skies. Originally a train depot constructed in 1857, it has been fully modernized for contemporary living. However, we have taken great effort to preserve its rustic charms that Abraham Lincoln would have known during his circuit riding days before the Civil War. These include graffiti from 1917.
“As soon as we walked into the place it was clear that the owners took great pride in presenting a unique and comfortable experience for their guests. Lots of interesting details and informative notes made navigating a new place easy and delightful. The kitchen was well appointed and had a variety of food items available ( including good coffee), which made it easy to pull together breakfast or a snack. Bed was comfortable and there is plenty of space to spread out. We only stayed one night but exploring the many rooms, books, decorations/ wall art and unique doors and cabinets/nooks, made it an adventure all it’s own. We highly recommend The Depot. Would stay again.”

“This is a perfect place to stay for a quiet, cozy trip. The bedroom, and bed, were comfortable - there was everything we needed in there. This is a great location: quiet, homey, and close to anything you'd need. I was grateful for privacy, considering it was a shared listing. I'd definitely stay here again!”
Quiet little cottage is situated in the back of our large peaceful property. We are located outside of city limits with our cottage being bordered on one side by dense woods and several large oak trees shading the entire area. This cottage has it's own private driveway with easy one level access. It's common to have deer grazing in the yard during the early morning and evening hours. A great place to relax.
“This space made a great home away from home for a traveling professional. There were lots of homey touches and a comfortable space to relax. Missi was easy to get in touch with and flexible in making arrangements. Will be booking there again.”
