Places to stay in Bethel
Warm cozy cottage/camp with rustic features, sleeps up to 7, additional fees apply for greater than 4 guests. Short drive to beautiful Bethel Village with great view of Songo Pond. Access to pond via public entry 150 feet south of camp.
Beautiful view of Songo Pond across the street. We do not have designated private access. The dock located across from the camp does not belong to us and we ask that you do not use that. There is an entry just 150 feet from our camp to the south across from log home which you are welcome to use. It is not a boat launch but hand carried boats such as canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards are welcome. Please use caution when crossing the street!
  • Cozy cabin up next to a small lake. Very relaxing and peaceful. We had a great stay and would visit again

    Orion2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was quick to communicate before the stay, and Paul was there to great us when we arrived and he already had a fire going for us! Would stay at again!

    Bobby2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super hosts and great place! Communication is very easy with the hosts.

    Elizabeth2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's place is exactly what we needed for a on-night stay near Sunday River. It was clean and comfy and the check in/check out were a breeze. We'd definitely be back in the future

    Vanya2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted upon arrival by Paul who had made a nice fire in the stove. Their camp was a perfect stop for my 13 year old son and me. We made dinner and watched a movie on Netflix before continuing on our ski tour. Highly recommend.

    Steve2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night - when we arrived our hosts had a fire going, showed us around the house, answered all of our questions and made us feel welcome. It snowed most of the night but by the time we woke up the drive was cleared - we'll stay again.

    Jim2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy place, right on the pond. Very tranquil.

    Sally2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Relax after a long day on the mountain in this cosy cabin with a wood burning stove. There was considerable snow accumulation giving beautiful views of the woodland out the back and of the rather large pond out front. I would stay here again.

Want a quiet and relaxing place to stay near Sunday River? This is the place! This downstairs apartment is only .3 miles from South Ridge Lodge, you could walk if you wanted to! Located on a dead end dirt road you would never know the mountain is so close. This fully furnished apartment has been recently redone with lots of love. With 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 fully furnished kitchen and 1 pull-out couch this is a great place for 1-2 couples or a family of 4 to stay.
We are very close to Sunday River Ski Resort, but you would never know it. We live on a dead end dirt road that is very quiet and peaceful. We have wonderful neighbors and everyone here are dog lovers! It is a small community here and everyone will make you feel welcome.
  • Kelli and Kenny went out of their way for us with some unexpected scheduling issues. The place was great and they are nice and close to Sunday River!

    Jeremy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kelli and Kenny’s place was absolutely amazing!!! Perfect location to stay while skiing at Sunday River. Everything about their place made us feel right at home. Including the fresh bread! The communication and checking in process was flawless. I would highly recommend them to anyone coming to the area.

    Megan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Everything was neat, clean, and inviting. Excellent location and the folder with recommendations on where to go was a great touch. We not only had a great time exploring the area from a convenient location, but also got great sleep in the super comfy bed and quiet atmosphere.

    Courtney2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kelli and Kenny’s place is so awesome! It is literally 2 minutes from the Sunday river base... too bad there isn’t 6 stars for location and value! The basement apartment has all the necessities for a family of 4 with small to med. children that are comfortable sleeping on the sofa bed (I would not recommend that for an adult) or a blow up mattress. This is the second year that we stayed here. Wonderful family memories!!! Planning on coming again!

    Dan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was wonderful! Location is amazing right at the base of the mountain (30 sec drive or less than 10 min walk). the apartment is comfortable and a great space with everything we needed, separate entrance, private driveway, fully furnished, large living space, large bedroom, tons of storage/bureaus/closet, sizable bathroom, and a smart tv available with games for hanging out! the snow and weather report left on the fridge and check-in treat was extra special!

    Caitlin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic! Great communication, great location, clean, and cozy. Overall, a lovely apartment and a great place to stay.

    Susan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • K&K were extremely accommodating! Location was awesome, cozy and spotless! Would not hesitate staying there again😃

    Laurie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • K & K was a perfectly nice getaway spot for some skiing/boarding at Sunday River; comfy, cozy and everything we needed to cook at home. It felt nice and private even with Kelli and Kenny living right upstairs. We will definitely see if this is available next time we visit!

  • This is our second stay at Carol’s place and it was a perfect trip! Sparkling clean and stylish place with a beautiful view. Carol is a very thoughtful host. She left breakfast for us, extra comforters for my mom who gets cold easily, and lent us snow shoes to explore the nature. Would definitely come back again!

  • I can’t get over how sweet The House Barn was. So clean, perfectly decorated, not a single missing detail. The listing doesn’t give it justice! I woke up to the view of the mountains each morning, went upstairs to the beautiful kitchen, made myself a coffee and sat by the fireplace. This is the kind of place that you wish was your own home. I’ll be sure to book another weekend in the summer.

    Kelsey2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great, the pictures of the cabin did not do it justice! Lot's of nice little additions including the lighting, the wood finishes, the extra storage spaces. It had a great view when the sun was out and was overall enjoyable. Definitely recommend!

    Mason2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend ski trip. The cabin was very nice.

    Matthew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful place! The decor is lovely. The location was perfect- you feel away from it all but it’s a short drive to downtown Bethel and about 20 minutes to Sunday River. Was a treat to watch deer wandering by each evening. The views of the mountains are amazing. I will definitely return!

    Lia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed here twice now and we will definitely be back! Perfect little ski house.

    Hayley2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful stay. The house is amazing, using every bit of space for something useful - one of the most thoughtfully designed houses we’ve stayed in. Strongly recommend stay here!

  • The House Barn is the perfect ski weekend getaway! Just a 10 minute drive to Sunday River! This place is really a hidden gem, it has a rustic barn feel with modern touches. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a great Valentines Day dinner. The house is also really close to the downtown area so the next night we ventured for a sleigh ride and dinner. Overall, great weekend and we will definitely be back!

  • The space was clean, organized, and nicely decorated. It had just the right amenities and information about the local area. Susan was very welcoming, communicative, and friendly yet respectful of our privacy. The home was a great location- we enjoyed a number of hikes on Mahoosuc Land Trust Land property within a few minutes drive. I would certainly recommend Susan's home!

  • Great place to stay close to Sunday River and Bethel! Susan was a fantastic host and we would love to come back again someday!!

  • Nice stay and spot for Sunday River skiing!

    Clare2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's guest suite was a perfect weekend rental for our group visiting Sunday River to ski. The home is a short drive from the mountain and nearby restaurants, and was a bit more spacious than the photos appear. The suite is connected to the main home so it was easy to get in touch with her when we needed to! We did not initially realize the kitchenette did not include any stove for cooking breakfast, but Susan provided K cup coffee, waters, and oatmeal instead which was great! The living space was cozy and the bedrooms very comfortable, I would recommend packing an extra comforter or blanket for the upstairs bedroom as it got a bit chilly up there overnight.

    Jackie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Susan’s place is a great. Our checking was easy and communicated clearly. Space was very comfortable and super clean.

    Jon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay at Susan's place on our Sunday River Ski vacation! It was extremely clean and cozy and very comfortable. Susan's extra special touches added charm and made us feel right at home. The location is lovely - it's in the country but a very short drive to Sunday River and the town of Bethel where there are several wonderful restaurants and taverns. We would absolutely recommend staying here any time of the year and hope to return!

    Deb2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Susan’s house was great! We used it while skiing with our 2 kids, both under 5, and they loved it. It’s 10 minutes to Sunday River and 5 to restaurants in Bethel. Susan was very communicative and couldn’t have been nicer.

    Paul2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to stay near Sunday River. Susan made our family feel right at home. We would definitely stay at the guest house again.

The Hill House has always been a welcoming and safe haven, and we expect to continue the experience of feeling "safely at home" for guests. According to the Maine COVID Guidelines, non-Maine residents are required to quarantine the first two weeks. Yup, two weeks sitting around the campfire, listening to the babbling brook after a rain, and relying on the fast and reliable internet. 1 week minimum
This handcrafted cabin offers a woodsy Maine setting, inside and out. The first floor is open and faces the woods behind the cabin. The two bedrooms are upstairs, and one bedroom has a couch and TV, in addition to the twin beds. This is a "dorm style" room. Internet is fast and reliable. Located at the base of Mt. Abram, the cabin has woods stretching to the trails of Mt. Abram. Swimming in South Pond is close by, and explore the ponds of Locke Mills. Bethel is just just 6 miles away and 15 minutes to Sunday River. While you are a guest, we hope you feel at home in the Hill House. We prefer to allow guests to have private time at the house. Guests can check-in and out independently, and directions will be provided when a reservation is confirmed. The Hill House is comfortable, cozy and charming. The main floor has pine walls and flooring, with peaceful views of the woods, and a babbling brook (during spring and after rains) is within earshot. The main floor is open concept. The house feels private, with a view of woods behind the house. The second floor has a master bedroom with a queen bed, and the second larger "dorm" room has another sitting area with TV/DVD/streaming. The dorm room has two twin beds. The house is knotty pine on the first floor. On demand hot water. Spiffy kitchen. Fast internet. Quiet. Summer heat? The Hill House is very well insulated against het and cold. So open the windows at night for cool mountain breezes. There are plenty of fans to more the air through the cabin. The Hill House is on Howe Hill Road, and our guests often remark that once inside the Hill House it feels private and quiet. All of the windows in the living spaces face the sides and back of the house, which are wooded areas with a family farm next door. The Greenwood area is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast. The house is within close walking distance to the Main Lodge of Mt. Abram (adjacent, really) with wonderful hikes or walks. At the base of Howe Hill Road (1 mile), the Hub has hourly rentals for kayaks and canoes to explore South Pond and North Ponds in Greenwood. Great for swimming, fishing, looking for frogs and lazy days. For a listing of lovely hikes and challenging hikes in the area go to the "Visit Bethel Maine" website. Greenwood has easy access to the three lakes of Locke Mills: Round Pond, North Pond and South Pond...the three lakes are all connected for delightful exploring by water or easy explorations by road. A public boat access is less than one mile down the hill from the Hill House and canoe/kayak rentals are available at the Local Hub. A summer public swimming beach on the pond is minutes away. The Androscoggin River is five minutes away, with riverside walking trails and stretches of river with public access for kayaking or canoeing. Many adventures can be accessed through the Bethel, Maine website: rockhounding at a sluice and mineral mine, fat bike and mountain bike rentals, fishing, horseback riding, golf...spa treatments. At Sunday River in the summer, there is LOTS of action: zip-lining, bike parks, LL Bean Schools. Howe Hill Road in Greenwood was the birthplace of Leon Leonwood Bean in 1872, and from this area you can roam in the same woods and waters where L.L. Bean learned his skills as a hunter, fisherman, and woodsman. Not interested in being outdoors? Drive minutes away to Bethel and explore the shops and restaurants while strolling Main Street. Bethel is the home of our national poet laureate, Richard Blanco, author of the inaugural poem "One Day." You can take a short hike to the trail named "One Day" at the base of Mt. Abram. North Conway is a 60 minute drive, with a mecca of shops. The White Mountains, Mt. Washington, Santa's Village, and endless adventures are all within one hour away.
The Hill House is adjacent to the Mt Abram Main Ski Lodge.
  • We love this little house. We’ve admired it for years as we’ve driven by on our way to ski Mt Abram, and were so excited to stay here. It’s the perfect getaway. Cozy, relaxing, and an amazing location. We will be back. Hopefully often!!

  • Eliza Jane's place was wonderful! So cozy, while also including everything you might need. Would love staying here again.

    Leanne2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was everything and more than what I expected from the listing! It is beautifully decorated and appointed. We loved the coziness and feel of a cabin, especially with the pellet stove, but also loved having all the comforts of home. The location is fantastic with its close proximity to the mountain. Eliza Jane is a great host and is very quick to respond to any questions. We had a wonderful stay!

    Carole2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy cabin ready for a great ski weekend. About 20 minutes away from Sunday River which was perfect and had a great time. Eliza was very responsive on the few questions we had.

    Cody2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is the perfect winter getaway! Situated at the base of Mt. Abram, you are a 3-minute walk to a terrific mountain for beginner and intermediate skiers & riders, while the more challenging Sunday River is a short 25-minute drive away. We loved the early breakfasts in the sunny kitchen, sitting at the picture window and looking westward up at Mt. Abram's ski slopes. The cabin is warm and cozy, and is flooded with wonderful light throughout the day. Eliza is a very communicative and accommodating host, and the check-in / out process was seamless. We look forward to seeing the cabin in the summer and fall seasons, as the area has so much to offer for outdoor enthusiasts.

    Eric2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect place to stay for skiing at Sunday River! Loved everything about Eliza’s cozy cabin, check in was a breeze, the stay was everything we needed... a great place to unwind, cook, play oldschool board games etc. and check out was great due to Eliza’s awesome flexibility as our host. This bed, by the way, is literally what your Maine winter flannel dreams are made of. Loved the heated blanket to get things toasty before bed, and how incredibly comfortable the down llbean pillows, and memory foam mattress were. These sleeping accommodations knocked it out of the park. Go to the kitchen at the end of the road, bring an extra $50 to shop organic foods and local artisan goods, prints, and artwork. And be sure to stop at the freshwater spring and fill your bottles up on the way out, that’s some delicious H2O. This was the best getaway. We will totally be back!

    Emilee2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely love this cabin, this was our second stay! The pellet stove makes it so cozy and is super easy to use. Eliza is such a wonderful host, very responsive. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Pets and their reasonably well-behaved humans are welcome at my traditional New England B & B! Minutes away from Sunday River and Mt. Abram ski resorts, and the Appalachian Trail, we are ideally suited for those who want to include their furry friends in their adventures. I have 2 bedrooms with queen size beds/private baths and free Wi-Fi. The quoted prices include accommodations for humans and their pet(s), a full delicious breakfast, and snacks to take up to the mountain with you.
Rooms are well-equipped with everything you could need for a comfy stay: dog towels, boot warmers, electric mattress pads, individual air conditioners for the warmer months, and lots of other "extras". All bedrooms are located on the second floor, so climbing one flight of stairs is required. With advanced notice, I am happy to accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions. Your pets can stay safely contained in your room while you are out skiing or exploring, or they can hang out with me and the other critters in residence. A fully-fenced outdoor area gives pups a place to romp and make new friends. Another room is available if additional accommodations are needed.
I am located in a rural setting 2 miles from the town of Bethel. Bethel has numerous restaurants and shops. There is also a small grocery store, post office, movie theater, and a mineral museum. I am only 7 miles from Sunday River Resort which offers a variety of activities, summer and winter.
  • Absolutely perfect experience for travelers with dogs. Even without I would stay again in a heartbeat. Couldn't ask for more. Best value I've ever had on air bnb.

  • Carol’s place is perfect for dog lovers like us. The place is close to Sunday River, super clean, and is welcoming and friendly.

    Colin2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! Carol has thought of everything - there’s a trash can just for poop bags, dog treats in the kitchen, and we had a “Pooch Towel” in our room to wipe paws. There is a fenced area in the back, and you can walk out front too. Breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend Paws Inn.

    Valerie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to stay! Carol was so welcoming to us and our dogs and even watched our pups during the day while we skied! Super clean, delicious hot breakfast and a nice fenced in yard! We loved it here!

    Liz2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Carol was great and it was so nice to not worry about Stanley (our pup) while we were skiing! We can't wait to come back! Thank you.

    Erin2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a terrific time staying at the Paws Inn! It was wonderful to have a place where our dog was welcome, and Carol had lots of thoughtful touches that made us and our pooch feel at home. The room was spotlessly clean and comfy. There was a quilt cover and towel for the dog. She even had a fenced yard for the dog to go outside. Best place for pooches!

    Tora2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carol is just the sweetest host you could hope for! It’s like going back to your mom’s house. We were going on a hike and she was making sure we had our food, water and snacks. Dogs are not just allowed they are really welcome! She truly loves dogs and we couldn’t feel more at home!

    Rosie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most pet-friendly experience we’ve ever had! Carol exceeded our expectations with a great space, breakfast and many extras including gifts for our dog. We felt relaxed and at home —- our pup, Penny really wanted to stay!

  • Regina’s place was cozy, quiet, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Had the chance to watch snow fall over Bethel Common, then walk across the street the next day for some awesome cross-country skiing at Bethel Inn. The creative artwork and book collection was a thought-provoking bonus. Thanks Regina!

  • The right balance of “shabby” and “chic”! Perfect for a solo or couple stay. Apartment has everything you need for a basic comfortable stay, and the loft set-up is very charming. Location in the heart of Bethel is perfect for walking around the town and easy driving access to ski slopes.

    Rachel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Regina's space is clean, comfortable and conveniently located in downtown Bethel. The loft provides a nice area for sleeping. The apartment is airy and well appointed. We did not have any problem with noise from neighbors, even though it is stated that the walls are thin between apartments. We have stayed here twice and will continue to check for it's availability when we are in the area.

    David2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Regina's place was in an amazing location, directly next to the Bethel in and a short walk to downtown with all the shops and restaurants. Her place was clean and she use very quick to respond to any questions I had. I would definitely return.

The Burrow is a small studio cottage on a private, 4 acre property set between two other buildings. The main house is under quiet renovation to become a wellness retreat space. www.patchmountain.com It's bordered by a vibrant river, deep woods and many miles of maintained trails for hiking, trail running, X-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Town of Bethel is 12 mi. and an easy 25 min. drive north. Mt. Abram & Sunday River Ski Resorts are also in convenient proximity.
The grounds are open and guests are encouraged to explore! There's a wooded trail on the property that follows the river downstream. During the colder winter months you can walk, snowshoe or X-country ski the frozen river to Hicks Pond. It's a beautiful morning trip facing the sun. Evening stargazing and relaxation around the fire pit is recommended. Wood is complimentary. The cabin is maintained with best effort toward eco-responsibilty. The space is clean and natural. I request that guests be mindful of their use of strongly scented products as many people have chemical sensitivities.
Local Hub Market & Cafe is a 15 min. drive away.
  • This small cabin was simply incredible experience. My partner and I stayed there for some nights looking for some peace in the end of winter and that's what we got. The place is extremely cozy (quite hygge, I would say), and every thing you need is in there. We packed for three days of food and cooked all our meals there, and we really did not miss anything, the place is really fully equipped! (Much more than you would expect). The view of the stream is extremely relaxing. The area was a winter wonderland, with a lot of nice hikes that one can reach by walking from the property, with a nice lake nearby and a mountain hike. We simply loved the place and there couldn't be a better place to relax. I might add that Michelle told us the nearest market is 20min away, so bringing food/ingredients to cook is ideal. There's a fireplace right outside that is also very cozy. Michelle respected our privacy and the place itself feels totally private – she was also very kind offering any other utensils that we might need (even though we didn't need any). Our experience was fantastic and I would totally recommend a stay!

    Ewaldo2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's cottage was clean, cozy and perfect for our needs. The location was peaceful while still in close proximity to stores and restaurants. Michelle provided detailed information about the cottage and was quick to respond to messages. We hope to return some day!

    Danielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place to relax, recharge, feel at peace and disconnect this is it! Michelle has decorated and made the cottage being a very welcoming, cozy place! It is small but absolutely more than enough for 2 people! It has everything you might need for cooking and/or having some coffee in the morning so I would recommend bringing groceries because you might not want to leave the place and drive to a restaurant. The place is located in a beautiful area, surrounded by forest and if you go in the winter, tons of snow! We did a little walk in the morning (per Michelles's suggestion) and it was just us in Winter Wonderland, it was incredible. Michelle was really attentive and responded to all my questions right away. The palce was sparkling clean and warm when we arrived. She also gave us a list of recommendations/suggestions of things to do which we really appreciated! I would say this is a perfect spot for either a romantic gateaway or if you want to go away to a peaceful place for a bit. I will say that if you have AT&T the service goes on and off, which to us wasn't bothersome because it actually helped us disconnect but if you need to be available that might be a challenge. Michelle does have wifi though. In other words, a lovely experience and great host!

    Valentina2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Notch was a fantastic experience for my girlfriend and I. We spent a night there while on our way up to Montreal. The house was extremely cozy with a warm aura, and the bed was among the comfiest I have ever laid in. Michelle is a phenomenal host! She was very responsive to all of our questions, making sure that we had everything that we needed for a cozy night in. In addition, she is extremely warm and accommodating, making our stay that much better! I would definitely stay there again and recommend this spot to anyone looking to stay in the area.

The Bethel Historical Society maintains and provides tours in the 1813 Dr. Moses Mason House and the 1821 O’Neil Robinson house throughout the year and on holidays. The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum in Bethel showcases geological history, displays renowned mineral and rock collections, including the largest privately owned moon rock; the Museum provides educational opportunities for the novice and expert alike, conducts historical and geological research, creating a Maine travel destination for residents and visitors. It also houses a gift store and gallery where beautiful jewelry made from local gems and educational material may be purchased. Finally, the area offers many fine restaurants and pubs to please the pallets of the numerous people who visit the area throughout the year. Additionally, live music and entertainment is provided at many of these venues on weekends and during holiday weeks. • The tiny house was perfect for a weekend getaway with our daughter and dogs.

  • I cannot thank Shirley enough for her great communication. Upon our arrival, power was out in the area and Shirley from 5,000 miles away made sure that she provided this information as well as additional directions to us ahead of time. The tiny house was very clean and a perfect place for my husband and I to stay for the weekend. We hope to be back for a stay next year, thanks again!

  • Beautiful, unique tiny house right near Sunday River. It has everything you need and more for a little weekend ski trip. And Shirley is pet friendly! We cannot wait to visit again next year.

    Keith2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Shirley is a gem! Communication is SO easy with her, and her hospitality is amazing! We love finding new, unique places to stay when we travel, and had stayed in a tiny house before, but this was an even more unique experience, because our 90lb dog was with us! Having the campgrounds to allow our dog to run around and get her zoomies out was HUGE! Shirley left some goodies for our arrival, and all was VERY appreciated! We look forward to staying on Shirley's property again!

    Kerry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Shirley's tiny home was everything we were looking for in a ski weekend! Great proximity to Sunday River, cozy home, well equipped (especially for a tiny home). Will definitely be back!

    Holbrook2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was awesome! We really enjoyed our stay. It was perfectly comfortable for two people. Shirley is really good at communication. I would definitely stay again if I need to stay somewhere near the area.

    Allie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for three nights while skiing at Sunday River. The house is laid out well with a surprising amount of space for two people, a dog and a lot of ski gear. Cooking was easy and the TV area was great for lounging around after a day of skiing. The photos are quite accurate. We'd definitely recommend it.

A one-of-a-kind place. Retreat like setting & atmosphere. Utter quiet, save for the wind, birds, & sometimes owls & coyotes at night. Lakes, rivers, skiing & hiking nearby, or take a lovely, quiet walk/snowshoe right from the house. Grocery & drugstore 10 minutes away. Off-the-grid, solar powered, & woodstove cozy. Beautiful 3 season porch. Yoga studio & piano, too! Relaxation & natural beauty, unplugged. COVID-19: PLEASE DO NOT INSTANT BOOK. "Message Host" first, w/your intentions. Thanks
Peaceful, romantic, inspiring and comfy OFF THE GRID solar powered home, lovingly created and enjoyed by many. The house is only 6 miles to town, yet loads of privacy and peace and quiet. Overlooks mountains to the north and west - spectacular sunsets, and amazing stargazing! Beautiful meandering yard & field, no visible neighbors. Since a couple of recent challenges with renters, along with COVID-19, I am asking you to message me in advance before booking - I usually respond in less than 6 hours, unless I'm sleeping! Should you have any concerns after reading the 2 negative reviews (BTW, Emma told me they had a fabulous time. I did not over-communicate during their stay, but let them know before they wrote their review how startled I was by the condition of the house, and kept finding more things broken or missing as I cleaned - hence multiple messages, but nowhere near what she claimed) please voice directly what those concerns might be. I like frank, open communication. The other negative review (which I thought was last year, but it was this March - the last 2 months have felt like a year!) was a case of reoccurring lack of comprehension on the renter's part - to the point where I grew very concerned. I've had well over 100 renters and both of these experiences were aberrations in otherwise very lovely experiences, for both myself and renters. Back to house info! House has an open kitchen - dining - living room, with piano and mountain view. Several perches for eating - the kitchen island, the dining table overlooking the view, or the porch in warmer months. While there are just 2 bedroom lofts, there are actually 3 beds - read on! The daylight basement is a yoga studio with a view of the field and beyond, & the woodstove - open space to play, dance, stretch - whatever moves you. The house is heated by the woodstove, and is very tight & cozy. A propane fireplace is used only as occasional supplementary heat, during the cooler months, as the woodstove is much more efficient. (It will not be on during the warmer months) There are 2 baths - the one upstairs has a clawfoot tub, downstairs has a shower. Please read notes posted in both bathrooms! Sleeping accommodations are: 2 loft bedrooms - one w/queen size bed & one w/twin, & also on main floor there's a single daybed overlooking the mountains. The enclosed porch has a futon couch that opens to a double bed - appropriate only for warm months, as the porch is not heated. Please note, the layout is very open, and does not allow for complete privacy with groups, unless one couple is in the house and another on the porch. It is also not the best space for toddlers (though I adore them!) with the stairs being rather open, and the wood stove. There is a fire ring for having outdoor fires under the stars - take wood from my burn pile, out in the field or the wood on porch, or scavenge in the woods or bring your own firewood. Please DO NOT use wood from the shed for outdoor fires! I pay dearly for it, and it is for heating the house, only. There is 'camp wood' available for purchase several places in town. It is easy to 'hide out' at my place, and equally easy to access entertainment and local shops. Cell phone coverage is good w/most major cell phone companies. TMobile does NOT work here! If you use the yoga props, or massage table, PLEASE put them back where you got them. Also, please do not tamper with personal items that are not an obvious part of the use of a rental space. Books - of course. Music - of course. Personal totems and altars, etc; should remain untouched. Thank you, in advance! If you need any of the following, please bring your own (even though there may be some in the house, as I live here!): olive oil, vinegar, paper towels, coffee. There are teas and herbs and spices for your use. However, if you know you like to use a lot of any one thing, please do bring your own. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE WATER IS GOOD TO DRINK. This saves you (and the planet!) from using multiple plastic bottles of water. If you find yourself needing something from the private food stash, in either of the corner cupboards, please either replace or leave some $ in the blue tea container on top of fridge. Ditto, if you break anything. Honesty is much appreciated. Please make sure to read the section "other things to note" (and all others!) I have only had a couple of bad experiences in over 8 years of renting. Basically, I expect my home to be respected, and left in the same basic condition you found it in. Many have created memorable vacations here, and have gone home refreshed, restored and inspired in body, mind & spirit. If that is what you're looking for, this is the place! Many thanks, Karen
Super quiet - No visible neighbors. Walk, bike, hike or ski right from the door. Dirt roads make for pleasant walking or running. Spacious sky for star gazing, & sunset viewing. Downtown is just a 10 minute drive, with plenty to do - see Guidebook
  • Great place. Karen's is a great host. Greeted us upon arrival and showed us everything and more

  • Very unique and beautiful place perfect the the R+R we were hoping for! Very cute and cozy inside. The beds were very comfy and we had the most restful sleep.

    Valerie2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • From check-in to check-out, Karen was there for me and my girlfriend! Her thorough and detailed instructions made our stay at Abbot Farm road seamless and worry-free! We loved the yoga studio, cache of CDs, stockpile of tea, and that amazing view! We cant wait to get back to Bethel once its warm to explore all that Northern Maine has to offer.

    David2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a true escape from the city. The wooden home feels like it has a warmth and life all of it's own. A wood-burning furnace provided most of the warmth, while also adding the scent of fire and sound of crackling wood. Even beyond the town of bethel has two great ski mountains, one having fireworks the day after Valentine's day. And lovely cafe, Dicocca's, that is a delicious vegetarian breakfast spot. Visiting Karen's Airbnb let me and my partner connect in a place we felt entirely welcome. Thank you so much for letting us stay.

    Daniel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s home is a special space. It is the most charming and cozy environment with a stunning view. It has great access to any of your favorite winter activities, and allows one to escape into the natural beauty of the surrounding area. We spent much of our time sipping tea, listening to music, and playing with our dog Scout in the yard. Scout loved it! It was all smiles from us. Thank you Karen for sharing the beauty and fun with us! ~Kathy

  • Pure magic! The most lovely remote cabin to relax and reset.

    Nicole2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place is exactly what the doctor ordered. Quiet, somewhat remote, and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the scenery, and the tub, the cozy kitchen, and the cd collection. Karen herself is warm, charming, and attentive.

    Dalia2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place is unreal. I don’t think we left the living room nook for a full day, many of those hours spent sipping tea and admiring a spectacular view. The space itself is open and soaks in the sun during the day, allowing you to do almost everything without lights, and her directions about how to care for the space are thorough and doable. Being a previous off-grid home dweller, I still am delighted to have used—for the first time—a remote to start the generator. It’s simple. Read her directions and it’s easy peasy. More perks, the bathtub was much larger than expected! As for location, it’s easily accessible, very close to town and the Good Food store, BBQ stand, etc. and like everything else, her directions are flawless and we made it there without GPS. Really could recommend this place more. Thank you, Karen!

  • What an amazing experience! I was a bit hesitant because this was my first time staying at a shared place. However, Lisa immediately made us feel welcome and her hospitality was top notch! Her breakfasts were so yummy and convenient before we went skiing. The resort at Sunday River was less than a 5 minute drive away. Perfect location and experience. I will definitely book again!

  • We were returning after staying with Lisa a previous ski season and it was just as great as we remembered. Ideal location for a trip to Sunday River, but feels as if you're in your own space at the same time. The animals are very friendly and add to the positive experience. Hoping to return again very soon!

  • Great place!

    Dom2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! It is a great location, super close to Sunday River- the house itself is sparkling clean, well managed and beautiful! It is roomie with all the amenities you need for a great weekend. We enjoyed a stay here for 8 adults- we were able to ski one day, enjoy Bethel another and relax at the house in the evening by the fire. The hot tub is a great too! If you book this spot, you can’t go wrong! It is professionally managed! We never had any issues so we never needed to contact the company but we did send a note after we checked out and they were quick to reply - I have no doubt they’d be quick to reply if needed on a stay. If this house is available and you have a group, book it! You won’t regret it. Thank you for a great stay!

  • First time with AirBnB and grabbing this gorgeous place! Everything that was said in description and details are all there. I really have no complaints. Be aware for those that get in when night sets. The place is slightly hard to find if your coming in at night, which I did. It's a very private area so theres not much signs indicating the location of the place. Details are very good in directing you to the place... but it makes it a little challenging when you can see those land marks at night. Otherwise, me and my family had a blast. Ping pong table was great.

    Billy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

Very clean and bright fully-equipped apartment just up the hill from the historic village of Bethel. Private bath and comfortable, real bed for two adults, plus a fold-out couch and chair for small children or teens. Plenty of privacy on your own deck surrounded by trees, lots of hot water in the shower/tub, and a flat-screen Direct TV to watch the Red Sox and an ipod dock to listen to your own tunes. An hour away from the ocean and in the middle of the best leaf-peeping in the northeast, not to mention the fine dining at the many village inns. Our street Paradise Road lives up to its name: quiet, tree-lined, and picturesque with beautiful views of the mountains with their numerous hiking trails. Come to fly fish, play golf, rent a canoe or kayak for the many rivers and ponds all around. We are also only a short distance from the Appalachian Trail where some of our guests have hiked it a section at a time.
  • Bruce and Victoria are great hosts. Quick with communication and friendly. Their spot is very cozy and they’ve thought of everything one might need on their stay. Their house is on a beautiful street with amazing views and a short ride to Bethel Center. I would recommend their home and would stay again!

    Katie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was lovely to share a cup of tea with Victoria when we arrived at this charming apartment, and her recommendation for Suds pub in Bethel was spot on. Lovely peaceful place to stay, very comfortable bed and well equipped - even down to breakfast items.

    Julia2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in this rental. It was clean, easy to get in and the owners were just a step away which was helpful. Beautiful scenery surrounding this property. It was quiet, quaint and just what we needed for the trip. Bruce and Victoria went above and beyond to make sure that we were all set up and were very friendly. I definitely reccomend this property to anyone heading to the area. Such a great value for what you get!

  • Fantastic place, great folks.

    Jay2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was spacious and the outdoor deck overlooking the trees was very delightful. Bruce and Victoria are extremely gracious hosts and lovely to get to know. Bethel is an artistic town with fabulous foods to be discovered. There are many hikes and Mountain vistas to be explored. Truly was a wonderful place to land.

    Susan2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice people and a beautiful appartment on Paradise Road. We enjoyed every minute!

    Sarina2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent just one night at Bruce's. We were welcomed at our arrival and shown the 'granny annnex'. This was a 70's-style decorated and furnished building with even earlier kitchen units. But that being said, it had its own quiet charm, it all worked, everything was provided, and the views of the forest from the lounge area were very restful. It was a short drive into town where there was a choice of eating places. Tbe food at Suds pub was excellent.

    Peter2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bruce and Victoria were excellent hosts. We enjoyed our stay in their spacious apartment. Everything we needed was there, including items for a nice breakfast. We wish we could have stayed for a few more days but this was just an overnight on our way to Acadia. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone in the area.

  • This cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and extra blankets and lots of towels. Our young kids enjoyed everything about the cabin and we felt at ease. We had a lot of fun cozying up by the fire when we weren't skiing. We would definitely stay again when we come up to the mountains in the summer.

  • Great location and value. Marcie was a very responsive host and has a lovely home.

    Julia2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Marcie's home is amazing. It is close to the small town of Bethel (5 mins) and Sunday River Ski Resort is 20 mins away. We stayed in December so enjoyed some skiing and also visited during a significant snow storm so the walks in the area were breathtaking. The views from this home are more impressive than the pictures on the listing. Whether you're looking for a winter, spring, summer or fall getaway - this is the place and will not disappoint.

A full kitchen, large dining area, and bath (with two toilet stalls) that round out the first floor. Please note that the downstairs bed is not in a private area. Central heat is a wood stove. There is hot water and a shower. The bath and kitchen are heated not to freeze, but you will need to keep a fire going in the winter. Wood is provided. This is an awesome house but it is small.
A dirt road leads to Mt Abram, 3/4 mile away. Within 10 miles is Bethel, with lots of shops, restaurants, and Sunday River. Lots of fun hiking, lakes, waterfalls for the summer. And of course amazing foliage in the fall.
  • If you book "The Lookout," you will fall in love with the place right away. It has the feel of being remote but you're just a short drive from restaurants, delis, breweries and skiing (Mt. Abram down the road and Sunday River 20 minutes away). The hosts, Hillary and Anthony are very welcoming and responsive. The space is clean, warm, comfortable and light. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. You have mountain views and a whole backyard to roam around. We hope to keep coming back to stay here!

    Emily2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay!! Would highly recommend. The wood stove can be a bit laborious but it made our stay feel more authentic. Would definitely love to come back next year.

    Joanna2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary and Tony have an awesome space and were attentive hosts! I had thoroughly researched airbnb's in the area and one of the reviews stated the space was "even better in person" and that couldn't have been more accurate. Everything was spotless and while not a large space, my boyfriend, myself and our golden retriever never felt cramped because the space was designed so efficiently. Definitely a special place and we feel so lucky they opened their home to us!

    Lauren2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay that was unlike anywhere I’ve stayed before. Close to Sunday River. We had a great stay.

    Evan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, beautiful views. Toasty and cozy, with everything you need. Beds are really comfortable and plenty of places to store ski gear. Amazing use of space. Can't wait to come back.

  • I highly recommend staying here especially if you have a dog. The house was amazing, clean, and perfect for our winter get away with our dog. The property is fantastic, a large cross country ski trail network right out the front made for some awesome post ski hikes.

    Andrew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the lookout can't be beat! We had such a wonderful time relaxing next to the cozy wood fire surrounded by mountains. The house was clean and the use of space was inspiring. We'll definitely be back.

I have 2 bedrooms with queen-size beds and private baths. Quoted price includes pet(s) and a full breakfast. I have another room if additional accommodations are needed. I am located in a rural setting 2 miles from the town of Bethel. Bethel has numerous restaurants and shops. There is also a small grocery store, post office, movie theater and a mineral museum. I am only 7 miles from Sunday River Resort which offers a variety of activities, summer and winter.
  • Carol is a very friendly person to both people and dogs. It shows how much she loves and understands dogs. She bakes a great breakfast with lots of options. She has a book with the local restaurant menus. Close to sking options both Cross country and downhill. Comfortable bed with private bathroom. We will definitely be back.

  • Paws Inn was a perfect choice for us and our dog, Arrow. Carol, the owner, was helpful and accommodating throughout the entire trip. She offered to stay up late and wait for us to get in as we drove up through a snowstorm and didn't know how long it would take. Once we arrived she showed us around and made some tea. She had plenty of treats and a fenced in yard for Arrow to run around to stretch his legs. Our room was perfect for the three of us with a queen bed, full bathroom, and TV. She even had a humidifier, extra heater, and towel specifically for the dog to make sure we were all comfortable. Each morning we were greeted by a hot breakfast and choice of coffee/ tea/ juices. Carol offered to hangout with Arrow when we left to ski and he joined the rest of the dogs she watched throughout the day. It was great to come home to a tired pup and spend longer on the mountain than we typically would. Carol greeted us that afternoon with cookies and tea/ coffee. We enjoyed her company and conversations as we came in and out or at breakfast. Anything we needed she was willing to go above and beyond for. We highly recommend Paws Inn to anyone looking to spend time in Bethel, especially those with dogs. Thank you again, Carol, for a wonderful weekend.

    Alexandra2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute bed & breakfast with a wonderful rustic feel. Comforting to have a place to leave the dog while we hit the slopes. Carol went above & beyond with her communication, delicious breakfast and household amenities. The in-room electric fireplace & doggie place mat were a great touch. Definitely coming back yearly when we go to Sunday River!

    Jennie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Carol is the best! Her place is clean, comfortable and centrally located to Sunday River. What more can I say, well she cooks you breakfast, has lots of snacks and takes care of your pup while you are away at the mountain. I can't wait to stay at Carols again this season!!!

    Arlie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Carol was a phenomenal host. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast she made was the ideal pre-skiing meal. But even more importantly, Carol took great care of our Beagle which allowed us to spend much longer on the mountain than we would have otherwise. She clearly cares a lot for the people and dogs who stay with her. Thank you, Carol! We definitely hope to stay here again next time we visit Sunday River.

    Sarah Anne2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Paws Inn and we can't say enough good things about it! Carol is easy to communicate with and the inn is in a great location. It is about 10 to 15 minutes from Sunday River. Restaurants are anywhere from 3 minutes to 10 minutes away. Carol makes delicious breakfast each morning so you can start your day with a boost of energy! The rooms are private and have their own bathroom/shower. The bed is very comfortable and there is even a heating pad to warm the sheets prior to getting into bed. Carol was even kind enough to watch our dog while we skied and went to dinner. We highly recommend this place!

    Sara2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Paws Inn and it has become our go to when visiting Sunday River. Our dog Rue is always excited to see Carol when we arrive.

    Andy2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's house is on a beautiful piece of land conveniently located just before the downtown area of Bethel. Bedroom is upstairs with private bath. Common areas are shared with host. She is welcoming, flexible and funny. Her cooking was home-style, tasted stellar and she made great company during breakfast. You can really feel how much she loves animals. Accommodations were made to keep our dog safe and comfortable while we were out for the day skiing. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back soon.

A very comfortable bed with cotton sheets and a well appointed kitchen with coffee and tea were all part of the great package. There were waters, seltzer’s, and half and half in the refrigerator and some chocolates were left for us too! Communication with her was easy and she and her family were all pleasant to interact with. Beth’s place is very nice and a great value.

This two-floor ideally located condo is on the mountain between Barker and White Cap Lodges. You can ski in/out using Roadrunner trail, which is right across the parking lot. There is plenty of parking and the condo is located in Building 2, which is closest to the common lodge area with a fireplace and pool/hot tub/sauna access. While this is technically a 1 br, there is a wall between the queen bed and the 2 twin beds for privacy. There is also a pull-out couch in the living room upstairs.
The condo is fully furnished with sheets, towels, bedding, and we provide all necessities, including hand and dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hairdryer. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, and coffee maker. There are two decks, one off the living room on the second floor, and one of the bedroom on the first floor. We noted that this condo is not suitable for small children due to the fact that the living room is raised from the kitchen with a landing and 2 steps, and the bedrooms are downstairs. (You can see this in the photos.) You’re welcome to bring your small children to stay at the condo, but we wanted you to be aware of the safety hazard this may pose for them.
This condo is centrally located on the mountain just a quick walk from the South Ridge base lodge. It is just a short drive to the Barking Dawg market, which is a small grocery store that also sells sandwiches and pizzas, and is an agency liquor store. If you want something even closer, you can head down to the White Cap base lodge via Roadrunner trail, where the Shipyard Brewhaus is located.

  • Rachel’s place was perfect for our family of four. Ski in /ski out was very easy and better than expected. Spotless, comfy, and cozy condo with everything we needed. We appreciated the super comfortable sectional after a long day of skiing, all the supplies for cooking in, and the extra towels for the pool. We loved that the one bedroom was divided so the kids had their own space. Rachel was super quick to respond to questions. We’d definitely stay here again...hopefully soon!

  • This was a great stay for us in western Maine on our ski excursion to Sunday River. A wonderful tiny house in Hanover just 10 minutes from Bethel. All of the amenities are there for cooking great meals.

    David2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is more spacious and cozy than even the pictures suggest. There would be plenty of room for a family of 4, and I wouldn’t hesitate to sleep 6 other than the bathroom being on the smaller side. There were a lot of thoughtful touches. Shirley is a very sweet and accommodating host. Only 10 minutes to downtown and to Sunday River. The store onsite is great for coffee, snacks and last minute needs. The campground has a lot of great activities in the summer- we’d love to go back in warm weather.

  • Rob's place is amazing and he's a phenomenal host. Super easy check-in process and speedy responses when we had questions. The chalet was perfect for our trip with our two young daughters. They LOVED the bunk beds! We had a great time sleigh riding in the back yard and roasting marshmellows with the outdoor firepit. Hope to be back again next winter.

  • What an amazing property! The location is perfect proximity to Sunday River and lots of restaurants and bars. The house was amazingly thoughtful and had all of the amenities you’d want, down to Sonos speakers, Nest thermostats and plenty of space to hang out. It was also spotless! Would definitely book this house again for a ski weekend.

  • This was our party's second time staying here, so we knew what to expect. Great house, close location to Sunday River for skiing, and quick responses from Rob and Phil. Thanks for a second stay, guys!

  • Great communication, perfect location close enough to town without feeling like you were like you were in the center, a fantastic view and beautiful condo. Thanks Steve!

  • Steve is a great host! Only communicated by text, email and phone but he was very available and attentive to my questions. The place is lovely and has beautiful views of the area! Really beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Only downside is that sheets, kitchen dish towels, and bathroom towels are not provided for free. But if you’re able to bring your own easily, as we were since we drove in, it’s an otherwise amazing place to stay. Highly recommend it and we would stay here again.

  • This is a spacious townhouse with gorgeous views not far from downtown Bethel. I appreciated having space for one car in the garage and one in the driveway as well as additional parking down the street. Steve shared a detailed note before check-in with entry codes and instructions for turning on utilities, as well as a reminder of what we needed to take care of at check-out. He responded quickly when the cleaner forgot to leave us the hand towels and hand soap normally provided in bathrooms, and was happy to coordinate sheets and bath towels for us in advance for an additional fee.

  • Our stay was very nice. Place was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Easy to get to local attractions and we had some wonderful meals in Bethel. We would stay here again. Thanks!

  • We stayed for three days with family and we were very satisfied. The accommodation was very clean and very well equipped. We enjoyed the large balcony with a superb view and the morning sun. The beds are all comfortable. The area is very quiet and one minute drive there is a wonderful bakery. The communication with Steve was very efficient and nice. The information provided was accurate. Everything was as we expected and even better. We definitely recommend this accommodation.
