Places to stay in Cwm-yr-Eglwys
The cabin is located in stunning scenery, nestled midway between Carningli Mountain, Ty-Canol ancient oak woodland & the foothills of the Preselis & only 3 miles from the sea. With an outdoor hot tub, it's easy to kick back and relax.
Our fully insulated wooden cabin is just a couple of miles from Newport, Pembrokeshire. The cabin perches on the top of one of a series of 3 nearby mounds (the origin of which is still unclear, but you can see the other two from the garden) and over looks stunning scenery. The building is sunny, warm, light and airy, with a woodburning stove for when the weather is cooler. The water is heated by solar panels and a log boiler down in the main house. The hotub and garden has lovely views and you can sit back and enjoy incredible sunsets behind carningli mountain. Guests and friends often tell us that they have not slept and relaxed so well for a long time. Maybe it's because there are very few places left in Britain where you cannot hear the hum of a busy road or the sound of vehicles every few minutes. Here at the cosy Cabin, the small lanes are extremely quiet and you are completely surrounded by nature. All around you are hills, mountains, wooded valleys, streams and great mature oaks, ash and sycamore. Except for the neighbouring farm buildings, you could easily believe that you are tens of miles from civilisation; yet just over the side of Carningli (the rocky ancient volcano you can see from the garden) and only 3 miles away is the small bustling town of Newport. Newport is a tiny town that has an incredible variety of attractions including farmers market (on Mondays), award winning cafes, pubs and restaurants, local shops and art galleries and of course the sea with a beautiful sandy beach, cliff walks and sandunes. Before going into more detail I need to be clear on the location and type of property this is. The cabin has a compost loo which is a dry system that works without a flush, where the waste is converted into fertile soil for the apple trees. The loo does not smell bad in case you were wondering, but is not the same as a flush toilet. Access to the cabin involves some steep steps and a slightly uneven path with some leaves and loose small stones. It is not a modern set-up with a tarmac driveway with all the latest mod-cons (unless you're talking super comfortable beds, cooking, showering and hotub!) The best thing to do before booking is read through a number of reviews as well as much of the description as possible to get a feel for the place to make sure it's right for you. The cabin is open plan with a large curtain to separate the downstairs bedroom. There is a king size bed downstairs and a double mattress upstairs, and a travel cot if needed. We only make up the downstairs bed when there is one person or a couple staying, but if you'd prefer to sleep upstairs, just let us know before your stay. There is an electric shower and heated towel rail in the bathroom. The garden has chairs and there is a veranda for undercover outside dining. The outdoor electric hot tub is partly powered by the solar panels in the garden (as is the whole cabin), and it is hot and ready to use all the time. We will need access to the hot tub to check the levels, change filters etc if needed, but we always try to do this while guests are out. While we do provide a set of towels (one bath towel and one hand towel per guest), it might be an idea to bring an extra towel for the hot tub, and maybe a dressing gown. Some slip on shoes would also be useful for going between the cabin and the hot tub. As we are out in the sticks, mobile service is intermittent, but most networks can get signal somewhere, even if it means a trip to the garden or short walk into the field. There is no landline or internet in the cabin. We have been toying with the idea of getting the cabin connected, however, every single guest (even those that were expecting wifi) have told us at the end of their stay they were so happy not be distracted by their mobile phones, email etc. And that their experience was so much richer for it that we should definitely not introduce it... being cut off from social media addiction for even just a few days is incredibly relaxing and refreshing and is so rare these days. It is easy to forget how good for the mind the experience of spending quality time together, reading, playing games, talking and being able to completely relax is. So if you are worried about being off screen for a few days, don't be, as it really does make for a fantastic experience. Many of the pubs etc in newport do have free wifi if you do need to get online. If you would like to have a tv with DVD player please enquire and we should be able to provide without issue The cabin is self catering, and the kitchen is fully equipped, with a fridge, kettle, toaster and an induction cooker and Samsung oven which are super efficient and a pleasure to use. Some basics are provided, like salt, pepper, some herbs and spices and cooking oil. There will be complimentary tea and coffee (ground, for the caffetiere). There is no washing machine, but I would be happy to do a wash for you at a cost of £2 a load. We also have a dryer, which would be an extra £2, but there is also a drying line outside the cabin. Newport has a launderette too, opposite the Golden Lion pub. Bedding and bathroom towels are provided. If it's raining, there is a fantastic new local cafe in Newport called Pwnc that has an indoor climbing wall free for cafe customers and great for kids. there are also great indoor theme parks like Blue Lagoon etc. not too far away, and the hotub can be fun in the rain. There are a host of other fair weather types of activities close at hand too.
North Pembrokeshire is much quieter than the south and has a unique combination of rocky outcrops, stunning beaches and coastal path, wooded valleys and enclaves, friendly neighbours and a night sky with hardly any light pollution, resulting in a fantastic the view of the stars. The more well-known stunning beaches of Newport, Poppit and Whitesands are interspersed with little gems that are much quieter and actually often much more beautiful such as Cwm Yr Eglwys only a few miles away. The neighbourhood is a mix of traditional welsh farmers, smallholdings and people that have chosen a sustainable path and live off the land (this includes communities such as Lammas and Brithdir Mawr, as well as groups of families that share giant vegetable growing plots and a cow where each household takes a turn at milking!), stone farmhouses and cottages interspersed with hobbit style dwellings and homes made from natural materials. The Gwaun Valley that starts at our property is a sight in itself. Its vast densely wooded sides leads down to a welsh community that has culturally changed very little for centuries. They still celebrate their own new year, have a primary school still running strong with only 24 pupils in total and have a pub that is old as they come and only serve beer from jugs. There are plenty of beautiful sights and places of interest within walking distance along beautiful winding quiet backroads. The large organically farmed field next door with the large oak tree atop an ancient mound is ours and provides a stunning short walk or sports/activity ground (we have football nets to borrow), depending on the livestock! Ty canol woods (less than 1 mile away) is home to an ancient stunted oak woodland, rocky outcrops and carpeted in mosses and lichens, it is like walking into a fairytale book. The woods lead on to the larger rocky outcrops of Carnau meibion Owen which looks out to the preseli hills and also the ancient burial chamber of Pentre Ifan. The heather strewn slopes of Carningli mountain (less than 1 mile away) are well worth a climb, the views from on top are spectacular. Newport has a stunning large sandy beach with dunes and is great for swimming. The town of Newport has become famous for its array of great cafes, restaurants and shops including a wholefood shop, butchers, hardware store, fishmongers (specialising in locally caught fish), pharmacy, newsagents, craft collective, antique centre, Spar and a local produce market on a Monday morning. Our closest neighbours (300 yards ish), Simon and Kerry at Tyriet farm have opened a micro brewery (Bluestone brewing co.), and you can drop in and pick up a bottle or three of their finest ales.
  • Maya and Robyn are great hosts, they welcomed us warmly, showed around the cabin. It was straight forward from that moment, we didn’t need too much from them, but we knew they are there if there is any help needed. The best thing is - no WiFi, no signal, no tv - everything you need to spend couple of nights away - board games, hot tub and talking to your other half! Such a refreshing experience in this very fast world! You won’t regret booking this place!

  • We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Maya and Robin’s place. It’s cosy and in a beautiful spot. We received great local tips from Robin and just loved the area. Newport is a really pretty little town and has lots of nice cafes and places to walk; the views over it from Carningli hill were amazing (one of Robin’s tips). There’s some info on the listing which you should read before staying, such as there not being any WiFi which might not be appreciated by everyone, but I’m pretty sure it contributed to how well I slept the entire time I was here and how relaxed I felt. I also loved that there was a cupboard full of board games to get stuck into, and the hot tub was perfect.

  • Really lovely place. Stand out features were the amazing location, gorgeous little cabin with a brilliant wood burning stove and a fantastic hottub. Also nice to have plenty of wood provided, real coffee in the kitchen and the hottub was properly hot!

    Sophie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the hut! It was perfect for a country side get away, with a lovely town near by on the coast. Even though it was winter the hut was so toasty and warm with the wood burner. There was loads of amenities and we were able to cook. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, would really recommend and would love to go back. Lydia

  • This place really is a gem. Hidden away you really do feel in your own world. The hot tub is amazing! With beautiful views and countryside as far as you can see. The accommodation is beautiful. It’s bigger than the pictures show. All the amenities you need. Bliss to have no signal, no Wi-if, no Tv. Just books and relaxation. If you want to have a few days away from a hectic work life this is perfect. Host was very accommodating when we had to move dates and very responsive. Two beautiful cats give us a visit too!

    James2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy cabin, spectacular panoramic location, walking distance to a brewery! :D

    Joshua2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you want superb accommodation, friendly hosts and a place to truly unwind then this is the place for you

    Carl2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was greeted warmly by Maya and Robin and given a tour of the cabin and some great advice of local walks. The cabin is beautiful and has everything you need. The fire keeps the place warm for hours. Having a compost loo inside is a massive bonus, not having to trudge across a field in the rain and cold in the middle of the night is great! I spent two evenings sat in the hot tub, looking at the stars and listening to owls hooting. What more could you want. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a lovely time. The house was warm and inviting despite us arriving during Storm Dennis!! The location is great - near Fishguard (5-10 minutes) and close to other areas like Cardigan and Haverfordwest. We very much appreciated the personal touches - eggs, butter and homemade bread was unexpected and very lovely. Maggie’s communication was great. Richard was very kind and helpful. Fishguard has a Co-op and a Tesco Express. If planning on cooking at the farmhouse take supplies before you get to town - choice wasn’t huge. In Fishguard you really must try Hooked for the best fish and chips we’ve ever had (& that was after transporting them back to the farmhouse!). The staff were friendly (even though it was HEAVING!) and call locals by name. Well deserved 2020 top 10 Fish & Chip shops in UK.

  • Great place to stay for our vacation!

    David2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and Richard are fab hosts. We arrived during Storm Dennis, the driveway was a river and the rain was horizontal. Richard greeted us with fresh bread under his arm and fresh eggs. It was a great one night stay in this lovely cottage despite the weather. There are toys, colouring, books for kids. But there is old wardrobes to hide in, pianos to play, muddy wellies to stomp in, comfy sofas to snuggle on, were the highlights for my 5,3,1 year old. Definately coming back... In the summer!

    Honor2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property and well thought out accommodation. We felt relaxed and comfortable the minute we arrived.

    Lisa2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in the middle of a working farm surrounded by stunning countryside. Photos can never really do somewhere like this justice and the views are spectacular. The cottage felt like home within minutes of arriving and that really is something special. The upside down layout really makes the most of the space and the furniture and décor is spot on. Maggie and Richard are lovely and really made us feel welcome. Recommended.

    Steve2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Maggie & Richard for a lovely stay in your cottage! Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality. We particularly loved the fresh eggs and fresh milk and who could forget the amazing visit from the doggo's?! Thank you for everything, we will definitely see you soon. Would highly recommend for a family break.

Nice local pup up the road, the best Fish & Chips at Pat's place. And you've just got to go to Bara Brith for some delicious home cooked food.

  • We had a lovely time staying with our 2 children at 1 Tower Hill. A terrific end of terrace cottage with great facilities, super comfortable beds and in a delightful spot with 2 stunning cove beaches just 8 minutes walk away down a lane/road. After some lovely walks, a few drinks and food at the beach side pub it was delightful to come back to the house, get the fire going and relax. Highly recommended.

The Coach House is a rustic south facing cottage in a secluded courtyard at Ffynnonofi Farm, once a location for the John Huston film Moby Dick. The cottage has terracotta stone floors with underfloor heating, white washed walls, cosy wood burner and a large double bedroom with small en suite bathroom. It is superbly located for the Pembrokeshire Coastal path and it has it's own beach minutes walk away across our fields. We're sustainably minded, have our own spring water and use green energy.
The cottage is spread over two floors. The ground floor is open plan making it a cosy place to prepare food and eat whilst the wood burner is blazing away. There is a desk and 'work area' for those who want to do something creative or maybe catch up with work. The upper floor has a main double bedroom with small en suite and a single bed/dressing room off it. There is a larger bathroom with shower and bath on the ground floor. The feel of the cottage is rustic and you'll find old welsh blankets, local slate sills and wooden oak beams rather than neat carpets! There is safe private parking near the cottage.
Ffynnonofi means 'healing well’ in welsh. The water at ffynnonofi is natural spring water. First recorded as a 'holy well' with healing properties in 1394, the spring water, which was drunk by monks on pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint David, has never stopped flowing ... Ffynnonofi farm is in a fabulous location. Our beach is a 5 minute walk across our fields and there are many lovely coves and beaches along the coastal path. There is a pub 15 minutes walk down the path at Pwllgwaelod beach that serves food, a good refuelling stop after walking around Dinas Island! There is also a busy pub within walking distance in the local village, Dinas Cross, and great shops and cafes in Newport, 3 miles north. Newport has a farmers market every Monday morning and great butchers and organic wholefood shop. We are 5 minutes drive from the Preseli Hills and 5 miles from the Ferry at Fishguard Harbour.
  • The cottage is lovely, thanks for a great stay!

  • We had a great week exploring the beautiful area - it was perfect for walking, cycling and swimming - and such a treat to be so close to the sea. The house is a great place to return to and relax in, with a lovely well equipped kitchen, comfy lounge area in front of the fire. We hope to return in another season, but would recommend this place at any time of year.

    Amy2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mike’s place is a real gem. You won’t be disappointed, I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Elaine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had pretty high expectations having read the previous reviews and we certainly weren’t disappointed! The coachhouse is a lovely, clean, bright and comfortable space to relax in, and the location, just moments from the coastal path and near the lovely village of Newport, is perfect! The hosts were very welcoming and made sure had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again ourselves soon!

  • A nice room with a well-equipped kitchen and a shower. The cottage is located on a farm in the middle of the Dinas Head peninsula. • The cottage was a delightful base to explore the area . It was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities you’d need for either a self catering break or within easy reach of local amenities. It’s unique location on Dinas Island made it a perfect getaway .

  • A great location, remote but with easy access to the wonder of West Coast Wales. Very friendly hosts and the little barn was cozy and had all we needed for a lovely few days walking holiday. Thanks.

  • Really cute cottage and Lynda was very helpful. The cottage was a lot warmer than expected, I assumed it would be quite cold in November but this was not the case! The temp was always very comfortable. There is a lovely 3.5mile walk along the head and the views are really nice

  • Lynda is an amazing host. Her place is cozy and super quiet, perfect for a weekend getaway. The island is simply beautiful, we enjoyed our walks very much. We hope to come back some day!

The Lower Coach-house is situated on the slopes of a wooden valley overlooking the fishing harbour of Lower Town. It is completely self contained offering a haven of peace and quiet with sea views from every room. The apartment, below the owners home is part of an attractive characterful, stone building, approached by a flight of stone steps. It is comfortable furnished and has an area of lawn and patio with views towards the harbour. There is about 100m to the town square and Coastal Path.
Fishguard is the site of the last invasion of main land Great Britain. Goodwick the twin town is the ferry port to Ireland. It's a friendly place with about 15 pubs, restaurants and we have a Folk festival in late May and Jazz festival late August
  • Richard and his wife Hazel are warm and helpful hosts. Richard picked me up from the station and brought me back. In between he brought me to a nice starting point for a walk. Both were always responsive when there was a question or a small problem. The location is very good with a view to the sea. The buses and the supermarket are only a few meters away. The kitchen has everything you need. You can get along well without a car. And if you want to get to know the beautiful old pubs all around, then ask Richard.

    Johannes2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Abereiddy The location is great for accessing the many small villages/towns along the coastline. St David’s Cathedral is a must. Aberporth has a lovely beach where dolphins are regularly seen, Abereiddy has the Blue Lagoon and Pothgaine a lovely port and old industrial buildings as well as a popular fish n chip restaurant and cafe. Fishguard itself has several fabulous cafes all of which do a lovely coffees. Pubs are worth a look in and Fish@31 (if I remember correctly) do a super piece of cod. Accommodation is a bit dated but clean, the kitchen is well equipped for own catering needs and bed comfortable. Richard and Hazel are great hosts and very helpful, nothing too much for them.

Romantic farm cottage near the coast, with stunning mountain views. Enjoy peace and quiet in an unspoilt landscape, yet just a short walk from the historic village of Nevern, with its ancient church and traditional pub. Nearby Newport has cafes, restaurants and galleries and is only a 5 minute drive away, as is the famous Pembrokeshire coast path. Sandy beaches, secluded coves, woodland and mountain walks are all within easy reach. A perfect retreat for a couple wanting to get away from it all.
The Cart House is stylishly furnished and thoughtfully equipped, so you can make the most of your stay in beautiful North Pembrokeshire. It's an interesting 'upside down' cottage, with the open plan living area on the first floor and the bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Both floors have doors leading to the private patio where you will find both a barbecue, table and chairs, and an array of potted plants - perfect for al fresco eating or just star gazing. The cottage has a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in by the fire and electric heating throughout. The comfortable double bed has feather duvets and pillows and crisp cotton sheets (non feather substitutes are available for allergy sufferers). The cottage is on a farm, in a very quiet and peaceful part of Pembrokeshire. Alice is also an artist and has a small studio and gallery in the farmhouse.
We are in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, world renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. Just a short walk away is the historic village of Nevern, with its family run pub, the Trewern Arms, charming St. Brynach's church, 10th century Celtic cross and 5th century Ogham Stone. A short walk from the church brings you to the ancient Pilgrims Path, used for hundreds of years by pilgrims making their way to St. Davids. You can literally follow the Pilgrims footsteps, worn away over the centuries into the slate. The path follows the banks of the beautiful Nevern river until it reaches the sea at stunning Newport Bay. There are some fabulous walks along the coastal path, as well as beaches and coves, too numerous to mention. We are a 5 minute drive to the sea and during the summer a local bus company runs a shuttle service along the coast for walkers. The Preseli Hills are also a magical place, with numerous neolithic sites dotted throughout the area and numerous footpaths and bridle ways to explore. Nearby Newport is a pretty seaside town offering a fantastic array of eateries. We also have art galleries, an antique shop, a local butcher, wholefood shop, hardware store, Post Office, Chemist and small supermarket. There's an interesting street market held every Monday and the community run Memorial Hall has a vibrant and varied mixture of cultural events and activities running throughout the year. The Cart House is a 10 minute drive from the old county town of Cardigan, which has 2 supermarkets (Tesco and Aldi) and a variety of shops along its pretty High Street. It's also worth a visit to Theatre Mwldan, which hosts a great selection of films, theatre, comedy and music events. For adventurous types there are a wealth of activities on offer, from sea kayaking and coasteering, to paragliding and surfing. Visitors to the area are often struck by something else that is rarely mentioned in the tourist brochures, and that is the warmth of the local people. We live in a very welcoming community and we all hope you'll enjoy you're stay here.

  • We had the best week relaxing in this beautiful little cottage. I’m not sure where to start! The check in process and communication with Alice was great, she met us when we arrived, showed us around and was on hand should be need anything. The cottage backs on to 3 or 4 fields which we were lucky enough to let our dog run in everyday which he loved (no sheep whilst we were there!). The cottage is small but perfectly set up with a log burner and really comfortable cosy bed. The location is a short drive from Newport where there are great pubs and a lovely beach to explore. We spent the week enjoying the coast paths, beaches and beautiful sunshine we were lucky enough to have. Can’t recommend enough! Very dog friendly!

  • Wonderful little cottage in a great location for exploring west Wales. Alice met us straight away with a warm welcome. A lovely cosy feel with a great wood burning stove that kept us warm in February. Great little kitchen with everything you would need and all other necessities including tv and wifi. It did help to have a car to explore as the closest shop/town was probably classed as unwalkable, but only a few minutes in the car. Amazing selection of pubs/restaurants nearby. We had such a lovely time!

  • Light and bright bedroom, shower room and galley area. Very comfy bed. Total privacy. Proper ground coffee provided with a little cafetiere - excellent! Microwave a real bonus if local pubs are closed, and the little fridge is useful. Two friendly shops a short walk away. For me, on foot, very convenient for hourly bus service to Fishguard, Haverfordwest (or the other way to Newport, Cardigan and beyond). Circular walk to Cwm-yr-Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod beaches takes less than an hour (longer if you stop to admire the lovely views). I'll be returning soon!

    Maggie2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to explore the surroundings! Lovely home with great bed

    Ruben2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great sized room with plenty of character and nice touches. Comfy bed and sofas. Bathroom (and bedroom) was spotless and the shower had instant hot water. There is a little area with a mini fridge, microwave, and tea/coffee etc which is perfect if you want to do some self catering! Great value for money. Only issues were that there was noise from the pub next door until quite late so difficult to get to sleep if you’re trying to get an early night. Also there was limited parking and it’s a little awkward getting in and out. But these were not show stoppers and it was a bank holiday so probably busier than usual. Owners were nice and fast to communicate and check in was easy and simple.

My house is a Victorian villa in the historic village of Dinas in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. I'm set back from the main road on a quiet private lane. The house is surrounded by gardens and is just a few minutes walk from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast or the Preseli hills. There is ample parking, I'm on a direct bus route and there's easy access to village shops, pubs and other services.
The private guest suite is downstairs with it's own private entrance, bathroom and kitchen. You should have everything you need for your stay. The bed is large and quite high off the ground. There's seating, a wardrobe, all the basic pots, pans and cutlery - and plenty of books and information about the local area.
Dinas Cross is a lovely little village set on the main coast road between Fishguard and Newport. You can walk the coast path, climb the Preseli hills and visit numerous attractions nearby. I can recommend cafés, pubs and restaurants for you or highlight some great local art galleries, gardens, historic sites, walks and beaches. This is a coastal location so you may experience all sorts of weather, but you'll always find a cosy home to come back to once you've finished exploring.
  • This is our second visit and once again it was a lovely experience. The most comfortable bed awaits and the breakfast bits that Simon supplies make a great start to the morning. The space is always spotless and has excellent amenities.

    Dante2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless lovely facilities.

    Christine2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Simon’s place is a delightful choice. It’s perfect for exploring Pembrokeshire, especially the park and coastal path- which is just a short walk from the house. So many walks from the house! You can really do as much or as little as you like because the accommodation is also very close to Dinas Cross, Newport and the bigger town of Fishguard / Goodwick where there is a boots, grocery and ferry to Ireland. Though there is a petrol station that has groceries and another little place just past that walking distance from the house and sells everything you’d need to cook yourself three square meals a day. The kitchen and bathroom feel very modern and super clean and are well equipped. Simon went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. He gave me privacy but was more than willing to share and converse. He has a vast knowledge of the area and it’s geography. He checked in to ensure I had things for breakfast - which was very nice milk bread and coffee or tea or both. I slept well in the bed and found the room to be very cozy and the price is pretty incredible considering you have the most beautiful places on earth just outside. I stayed in January and did have a car which allowed for trips further afield. Go to the little cafe Bara Brith that opens a few days a week just down the road for some of the best lunch or tea and cake. Walk around Dinas head? Island? For epic cliffs and views of the sea and come down to the little cove of cwn-yr-eglwys for a little ruins. I can’t recommend this enough. Book it!

  • Simon’s place is perfect for a coastal getaway - clean, cosy, lovely location and lots of nice little homely touches throughout the private suite. Simon was also a great host, very friendly, helpful, and gave lots of local tips including taxi numbers. The whole stay far exceeded our expectations and one of the best airbnb experiences we’ve had - highly recommend!

    Tara2019-12-15T00:00:00Z

The bed is luxurious, the kitchen is well-equipped, it's extremely clean, and tastefully decorated. Communication beforehand and the check-in instructions were great. I couldn't recommend it more, thank you!

A very snug and cosy cottage with a warm, friendly feel. A tasteful mix of traditional and contemporary artisan. Woodburner, secluded terrace and access to a beautiful garden near the heart of beautiful Newport town. A compact and bijou kitchenette and bathroom, light and airy bedroom with views into the garden. A short leisurely walk from the beach, estuary, coastal path as well as the fantastic array of pubs, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and amenities in town. Ideally situated.
The Snug is private and cosy. We provide a bag of logs for the fire for each night you stay (extra logs are available at a cost of £6.50 per basket). We also provide crisp white bed sheets, white soft towels and eco friendly shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Newport is known for its excellent choice of eating places. Being foodies ourselves we have lots of recommendations for local eateries and hostelries. There are two local breweries as well as a fine selection of pubs. There is also an extensive wholefood shop and mini supermarket. Despite the small size of Newport town it offers an amazing number of amenities including: an old fashioned family run hardware store, an antique shop, chemist, newsagent, doctors surgery, natural healthcare centre, lifestyle clothes shop, post office and cash point! For art lovers there are art galleries and artisan gift shops. The local beach offers the perfect place to swim, walk or simply sit and enjoy the sunset.
  • A beautiful little cottage with lovely decor and a cosy feel situated in the heart of Newport. Only a short walk from many pubs/restaurants, a fantastic cellar bar and some amazing coastal walks.

    Tom2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real treat in a peaceful location. The snug is well designed, with a welcomed log burner for the winter (and so much better than a tv!). Compact but perfectly formed - close to the coast for walks and a good selection of places to eat within 10 minutes walking distance. The hosts were great, there if you need them but not intruding your space at all - very accommodating and even remembered our anniversary on the day - wonderful touches that make you feel so welcome. Very much recommend this place to recharge and relax.

    Richard & Heidi2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at the Snug. Lovely hosts and a cosy property with the log burner being particularly welcome in winter. Newport is great and this property is in an excellent location to explore both the town and the coast and countryside of Pembrokeshire.

    Alistair2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely cosy stay at the snug around new year - it is a small but extremely cosy and stylish space, including a wood burner which is a really nice touch. Will & Sue were very helpful hosts and gave us lots of tips of where to eat out - there are various lovely places to eat very close by and Newport is a small but arty place with beautiful coast and hills around it. Recommend :)

    Poppy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The snug was a lovely place to spend a relaxing break over Christmas. Perfectly located for town, the beach and the costal path. We were extremely comfortable and warm with the cosy log burner. A wonderful stay!

    Rachel2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is as lovely as it looks! We stayed in Dec (so were not able to appreciate the garden or courtyard as much) The wood burner created such a cosy feel indoors. It is secluded yet close to amenities and Will and Sue are helpful and discreet as hosts. We highly recommend it and the town of Newport and surrounding area are wonderful!

    Ann2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The snug is in a perfect location, the fire makes it extra cosy especially this time of year! Thanks to Will & Sue for the bottle of wine on arrival!

Two sky lights provide excellent light during the day or a fantastic view of the starry sky at night, and there are electric lights for other times. More sturdy and weather proof than a tent, but still at campsite prices! This listing is for 1 single mattress, however the room sleeps up to 5. If you want to book the Dorm for more than 1 person, you'll also need to book on our other Dorm room listings. We absolutely love it here and hope you will too. We look forward to sharing it with you!
We live in a beautiful area of Pembrokeshire National Park, next to Carn Ingli and the Preseli Mountains. Ty Cannol, an ancient oak woodland, and the stunning coastline are both within walking distance, as is the charming village of Newport, boasting a fine array of pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Pembrokeshire Coastal path was recently voted one of the top ten long distance walks in the world. There is minimal light pollution here, so the night skies can be breath taking, and there is always loads of wildlife to see and hear, including dormice, bats and owls.

A detached property in an idyllic quiet rural location on the slopes of Carn Ingli set approx. 1 mile from Newport town itself. Above the cattle grid on the mountain, surrounded by wild ponies and sheep, with open walking immediately from the property (you can also walk into town off road) and fabulous views in every direction. ( Extensive sea views on mountain walks.) We have a cat and people friendly dogs who are shut away from the residential areas overnight.
We have an extensive garden which you are welcome to relax in, and a garden room with tropical style plants you are also welcome to share as a lounge or office. There is a utility room for muddy boots or wet coats if necessary.
There are limited properties in this stunning location halfway up the mountain, sheltered but a very short walk from open heathland. This is an area rich in artisan crafts from chocolate making to candle making. The town - which only has circa 900 permanent residents - has a Boat Club, 18 hole Golf Course, Doctor, Dentist, 365 days a year Spar mini market, Chemist, and numerous pubs and good quality restaurants. Newport Bay is a Blue Flag beach below the Golf Club with a Surf Club and Tea Room at busy times of the year.
  • Vivienne’s house is lovely with a cracking view of the Irish Sea and the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside. The room I was in was very clean and cosy and lovely and warm. There is a great bathroom available and a lovely breakfast room with tea and coffee making facilities and cereals and toast. Vivienne is very friendly, helpful and welcoming and gave me directions on how to get to places and advice on local eateries, etc. A jolly good Airbnb!

The Community is off grid for electricity and uses the water from the mountain spring. We have outdoor composting toilets and bathrooms with showers that guests share with the rest of the Community. We have a four private rooms available, plus a dormitory space. This posting is for our Sunrise Room.
If you are interested in community living or self-sufficiency this is the place for you. We have been a community for over twenty years you can learn more about us by joining one of our tours or even volunteering here. Have a look on our website for more details. We also run training courses and events which could help to make your trip a really memorable experience. The Sunrise room is a pretty, single, private room within our main Community farmhouse. Facilities are basic, comprising a woodburner, desk, chair, drawer, table and bookshelves; but the views over this part of our farm from the double aspect room are beautiful.
  • The Brithdir Mawr's Community is a place of peace and serenity. You won't be surrounding in the materialistic luxuries of today, but it will take you back to our earthly roots. It was so refreshing for the soul. The host Ann seems lovely, even though I didn't personally meet her. I would totally recommend staying here if you don't mind getting in touch with your roots, and embracing the simple life style.

  • Loved this room. Simple with beautiful light. Stayed two nights while exploring Preseli bluestones. Great velux skylight above the bed to watch and listen to the rain. Lovely wooden windows, floor and beams. Just felt natural and comfortable. Easy to come and go as you please and delightfully quiet at night. Friendly people, big old house, and lots of nature. I'll be back! ~

Welcome to our holiday home nestled in the relaxing and peaceful grounds of Dinas Cross Country Club and holiday park in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. It sleeps 6, and is a clean, warm and well equipped van with club and local amenities only a short stroll away.
The caravan is well equipped for everything you will need for your stay, although we are sadly unable to provide towels. There is a master suite with en-suite toilet, and a double room with twin beds and family bathroom with walk-in shower. There is the option of a double sofa bed in the living room, however you would need to bring your own linen for this bed. The whole site is family friendly, and whilst we say it isn’t suitable for under 2’s, if you are able to provide your own high chair and travel cot, we can accommodate small children. Check-in/out is via a key safe. On site, there is a clubhouse where you will find free Wi-fi, restaurant, fully licensed bar and games room. The clubhouse is open Tuesday-Sunday in school holidays but has reduced opening elsewhere. However, it’s only a short walk to the two local pubs, fish and chip shop and village stores, or just a short drive to the many restaurants in Newport. There is also a laundrette, heated swimming pool, boules rink, a children’s park and play area. The beaches of Pwllgwaelod and award winning Cym-yr-Eglwys are just a short stroll away. The Caravan Park is situated within the village of Dinas Cross, close to the small harbouring villages of Newport and Fishguard with it’s local produce markets, Irish sea ferry terminal and railway station. Driving along the A487 coast road of approx 13 miles is the small city of St Davids (the smallest Cathedral City in Britain). Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask before booking! Thank you for looking at our listing!
There are some lovely pubs in the area which are all a short stroll away. There is The Freemasons and The Ship Aground in Dinas Cross village, and The Old Sailors down at Pwllgwaelod. If you want something "a bit different" try driving into Newport where you can have lovely meals at The Canteen, The Royal Oak and The Golden Lion. For an extra special occasion, Llys Meddyg is wonderful. For a unique experience, why not drive out to the famous Dyffrn Arms (known as Bessie's) where the family have been serving the famous "pint from a jug" through the serving hatch since 1840.

The Barn is located in a magical setting with stunning scenery. Only 1.5 miles from Newport with its restaurants, we are a stones throw from Carningli mountain, the Preseli's and the ancient woodlands of Ty Canol, but still only 3 miles from the beach. Just breath in the fresh air and relax. The Barn is the perfect place to self-isolate and is hygienically cleaned between bookings.
The Barn is located in the grounds of a main house but completely separate with it's own outdoor area. Beautifully furnished with an exotic mix of modern and antique furniture and textiles. It's thoughtfully equipped for all your needs so that you can make the most of your stay in Pembrokeshire. The homely kitchen has an Irish dresser with flagstone floors and is the perfect place for organic cooking . The living area is open plan with a wood burning fire to keep you cosy in the evenings and there is underfloor heating as well as hot water whenever you need it. When the sun is out you can open the patio doors to a south-facing private outdoor area for eating alfresco. The galleried bedroom is snug and romantic with warm Welsh blankets & Afghan textiles. We try and provide you with everything you might need and this includes a starter log pack, towels ( not beach towels), toiletries and a welcome basket of local produce. The barn is beautifully furnished with local art and all my favorite things. There are books to enjoy as well. At a squeeze you can also fit in two friends on the sofa bed in the living area if you aren't worried about privacy. It's the perfect peaceful place for slow living. The parking is shared with the main house on the same property and whilst the outside area of The Barn is separate and private it is not fenced off if you have a pet.
The Barn is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, world renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and the only coastal park in the UK. Cilgwyn is in the heart of this in the north of the county which is quite different and quieter to the south; full of rugged exceptionally magical landscapes, wooded valleys, stunning coast, eccentric and interesting characters, and I swear a few wood fairies!. The Bluestones of Stonehenge were hewn from the rock only a few miles away, and the whole area is full to brimming with ancient history and rich with legends. This is a very special and magical location. You can explore the enchanted Ty Canol Woods, the Gwaun Valley and the wilderness of the Preseli Hills. Discover ancient trails, Iron Age Fort, Neolithic burial sites and places to stand and stare at the glorious views. Pentre Ifan burial chamber is close by and if you look closely you'll find a secret hidden one on the property! There are wild horses on the mountain and it's a fantastic walk to the top. For a quick beer to recover try the Bluestone Brewery which is only 2 minutes walk away and is open most days until 4pm. The Candle Workshop is also close by and makes for a fascinating visit. Whilst Newport is close by, The Barn is actually in the parish of Nevern where there is an ancient Pilgrims Path used for hundreds of years by pilgrims making their way to St Davids. The light here is different, and the air is clean and unpolluted. Look out for the amazingly clear night sky giving a fantastic view of the stars. There are so many fantastic walks on the doorstep it’s impossible to describe them all. Likewise, there are many beaches and secret coves that you can explore from the coastal path which is only a 5 minute drive away and during the summer is accessible via a local bus company that runs a shuttle service along the coast for walkers. The Preseli Hills are also a magical place, with numerous neolithic sites dotted throughout the area and many footpaths and bridle ways to explore. Newport is a pretty seaside town which has become famous for its array of great cafes, restaurants and shops including a whole food shop, butchers, hardware store, pharmacy, newsagents, craft collective, antique centre, Spar, Post Office, outdoor clothes shop and fantastic art gallery. Newport also has a stunning large sandy beach with dunes and is great for swimming. There's a vibrant street and farmers market held every Monday and the community run Memorial Hall has a varied mixture of cultural events and activities running throughout the year. The Barn is also only a 10 minute drive from the old county town of Cardigan, which has 2 supermarkets (Tesco and Aldi) and a variety of shops along its pretty and active high street. It's also worth a visit to Theatre Mwldan, which hosts a great selection of films, theatre, comedy and music events. For adventurous types there are a wealth of activities on offer, from sea kayaking and coasteering, to paragliding and surfing. To the south of Newport you can drive to St Davids the smallest city in the UK and visit the Cathedral, perhaps do some surfing at Whitesands beach and explore further down the coast past Newgale beach, which also has beautiful windswept beaches and coves. Visitors to the area are often struck by something else that is rarely mentioned in the tourist brochures, and that is the warmth and diversity of the local people and the extended community who have come here from afar. There are all sorts of people who have visited the area and haven’t left because they loved it so much! We live in a very welcoming and interesting community and we all hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
  • A beautiful stay in a very stylish and quirky workshop. Sue is a wonderfully attentive and thoughtful host. The fire was amazing and made the place super cosy. Highly recommended!

  • Sue was a great host. The barn was so homely and set in a beautiful location! The welcome basket was a lovely touch and thoroughly enjoyed, yum yum. The bed was very comfy, which scores big points from me. Great stay!!! Will be back again.

    Emily2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the barn was perfect! Sue was a lovely host and left us to it with everything we needed, and the added extra of a little hamper for the mornings breakfast! A beautiful little winter haven for us that could equally be a summer stay as well. Lovely walks around the area and not far from lovely Newport. The perfect place to be if you need to get away for a few days!

    Alex2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a couple. Be careful if you have dogs, they are not allowed on the furniture so it was difficult to keep ours off! The welcome pack was fantastic and it really is great value for money!

    Vicki2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is such a special, cosy place perfect for exploring Newport and the surrounding countryside. Newport has so much to offer in the way of independent cafes and shops, really lovely pubs and such friendly people. We stayed over new year for my birthday, when we thought most things would have closed down, but there was still so much to do and see. The beach walks are amazing. The blue stone brewery next to the barn and the candle workshop were really special places to visit. Sue was so informative about the area and left us a delicious welcome basket which met all our awkward dietary requirements! Sue really has thought of everything and the barn is full of unique art and souvenirs from travels and the local area. The barn has everything you need to hole up here and escape for a few days. Coming back to the cosy wood burner after long walks was the perfect way for us to chill after a busy Christmas. We loved our stay and can not recommend the barn enough.

    Elysia2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn was a wonderful cosy retreat and close to lovely walks at the coast and in the hills. I would reccommend it.

Recently renovated stone cottage, offering a comfortable place to stay while exploring North Pembrokeshire, or when attending a wedding in the area.
Originally one of the village pubs, the village sweet shop and later the first place in the village to offer B&B, the pretty stone cottage is easily found on the main road through the village. It has been renovated recently, and the garden has been reinvigorated.
Dinas Cross is a long village. It boasts two shops (one of which is home to the Post Office), a petrol station, two pubs, a fish and chip shop, an excellent day time cafe and an art gallery. There is a quiet, secluded beach within fifteen minutes scenic walk of the cottage, and the Coast Path is easily accessible. Fishguard is two miles away and has a cafe on the old harbour, as well as a range of shops, cafes and restaurants in the main town. The pretty town of Newport, with its huge sandy beach, is four miles away.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our little break, had excellent communication prior to our stay. Great as a base to explore North Pembrokeshire with eateries close by. We all had a warm welcome, brilliant we could bring our little dog along too. Very comfy bed, breakfast was plentiful and delicious - cooked breakfast and lovely homemade jam's and marmalade :) Use of the lounge was a lovely touch too. Would certainly stay again and recommend clover cottage! Thanks again Corinna.

Bright and cosy self-contained annex just a 3 minute drive from the beach and Pembrokeshire coastal path. Beautiful Pembrokeshire scenery with an abundance of walks, outside activities and beaches close by.
  • The Annex is a gem. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood with super comfortable beds made for a good night’s sleep. Everything we needed was provided. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!

    Karen2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous peaceful place! Really great location for walking along the coast and as a base to get to other places (we went cetacean hunting elsewhere!). Really clean and cosy and Dawn was a great communicator. A great touch was that there’s a list of places such as cafes/shops etc. And we really enjoyed the table and eating place outside in this weather! Only thing I can say is if you struggle with uphill walking it’s a bit of a killer to get back up from the town! Literally the only downside, but that’s part and parcel of lovely Wales I reckon and there’s plenty of (free/cheap) parking in the town if you’d rather drive. Thanks again!

    Maddie2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Annex is absolutely perfect. My sister and I stayed there two nights and it was fresh and clean with so many nice touches. The location is great, so close to so many places to hike, shop, eat.

    Megan2019-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space in a great location. Jennifer and Pieter gave us a friendly welcome. Just perfect for exploring the countryside and then getting on the ferry if you're bound for Ireland. Fishguard and this little b&b are definitely worth at least a two night stay.

    Sue2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • The “Annex” was absolutely perfect! Great location, very cosy, really clean - everything we could have asked for. We had delicious welsh cakes, fruit and milk waiting for us on arrival which was a lovely touch. The check in was very easy and the communication was very speedy. We had a really great stay and hopefully we will be back in the future! Sophie & Nic

    Sophie2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the annex. The little space is used perfectly and provided everything to make us feel very much at home. There was a plate with fruit, some tea and coffee and sweets to welcome us and even some flowers. We had breakfast on the sundeck with view to the sea and the lovely garden. The place is really a hidden secret which we will gladly recommend to our friends.

    Kerstin2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place to stay to explore the local area. The Annex offers all amenities in a peaceful, beautiful setting.

    Claire2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Clare's flat is cosy, comfortable and super clean. The little roof terrace was such a lovely place to sit and read on a warm evening. It is right above a really lovely shop for all your foodie needs and we were left a delicious loaf of bread and milk as a welcome gift. Clare was thoughtful and welcoming and we did wish that we didn't have to leave.

Troed-y-Rhiw is a traditional whitewashed fisherman's cottage, just 50m from a sandy beach, on a lane which is part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and National Trust. Restored to the highest standard with log fire, wireless broadband and a mix of contemporary and antique furniture and art. Well equipped kitchen with all mod cons, dishwasher, magimix, microwave, double oven, SMEG fridge etc. Washing and drying machines in attached utility. White Company cotton bed linen. Spectacular coastline!
** Please note, minimum 7 nights June - August, bookings taken Friday-Friday** Troed-y-Rhiw is a traditional Pembrokeshire fisherman's cottage which has been lovingly refurbished throughout as our family bolt hole for holidays. As a family we have been visiting Cwm-yr-Eglwys for 50+ years - a true testament to the unique peace and tranquility of this area of the Pembrokeshire coastline.
Cwm yr Eglwys is situated in a completely unspoilt valley with only 14 or so houses. The nearest thing to a shop is an ice cream van (selling Mary's Farmhouse delicious icecreams) which comes daily to the boat park throughout the summer season. There is a great pub/restaurant, The Old Sailor's, which is a 15 minute stroll through the valley in Pwllgwaelod. Alternatively you can walk around Dinas Head along the coastal path to the Old Sailor's, which is an absolutely stunning walk taking around 45 minutes - 1 hour. A great way to build an appetite!
  • This cottage is a real gem. The location in a tiny village right on the Wales Coastal Path is perfect for stunning walks. The cottage itself is extremely cosy and well appointed with everything you need. There is a well stocked shop within 15 mins walk as well as several pubs, although the closest one was closed for a two week break during our winter visit. Olivia is an extremely friendly and communicative host. We visited from Australia and felt very welcome - would thoroughly recommend.

    Carol2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb weekend we had in Olivia’s cottage. We arrived just before sunset on a chilly Friday afternoon and easily found the house. It’s in a tiny hamlet by the sea in a village that we still can’t pronounce after 3 days! Write it down and take it with you if you’re planning on telling taxi drivers where you’re staying. Parking was plentiful in the car park 20m away. The cottage was perfect; just how you’d imagine a proper seaside hideaway to be. Painted white with dark blue woodwork, it’s a 2-minute walk to the beach and right on the coastal walking paths. Thankfully it’s not on the sea front so it’s protected from the winter winds. Inside, there are squishy sofas, a huge dining table, a fully equipped kitchen with Sophie Conran crockery, board games and books, comfortable beds with thick duvets and a shower that dumps water like an American hotel. Bliss. We put the kettle on, fired up the wood burning stove and, by the time we were ready to head out to dinner, the cottage was toasty. That night, we had a memorable evening in the Golden Lion in nearby Newport. Peter ferried us there and back for £14 each way so there was plenty left over to drink the bar dry. Walk through the door in the Golden Lion and your heart says “Ahh, finally - a proper pub”. The place was packed, fires were stoked and the food was good. Really good. The locals could not have been more welcoming - a trend that continued thoughout the weekend. Saturday was spent wondering around local Xmas markets, oohing and aahing over the art galleries and traditional butchers shop in Newport and visiting the local burial site that’s like a mini Stonehenge without the tourists. On Saturday evening, we ate in Tides - a lovely fish restaurant in Newport - before coming home (by now, it really felt like home) to a roaring fire, late night game of Scrabble and a healthy dose of Gavin and Stacey. When in Wales... Sunday brought sunshine. Of course! We heated up some croissants and set off for a long walk along the coastal path in the crisp winter air. This is where the location really shines - Pembrokeshire is a stunning part of the coastline with waterfalls, hidden bays, healthy-looking hikers and views galore in every direction. You can forage for slate cheese boards on the beach, battle with vertigo on the steep cliff tops and get in your 10,000 steps without even realising you’re doing it. So would I give Olivia’s cottage 5 stars? Hollol ei! This was our first visit to Pembrokeshire and it definitely won’t be our last.

    Rachel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia's house is charming, spotlessly clean with the mod cons one could wish for. You agree located a moment away from the beach and I particularly liked having the ability to hang out wetsuits outside undercover to dry. Olivia was a great host extremely helpful. We can recommend this place enough.

  • Troed y Rhiw is fast becoming a home from home. Our second stay and we had an absolutely incredible visit, this time with our 3 month old baby in tow. It could not be have been better weather and the cottage is perfectly positioned for easy pops down to the beach for bracing swims, BBQs on the steps as the sun goes down and watching the world go by. Love the heavenly new sofa in the sitting room. Thank you Olivia we will be back!

  • A really fabulous, well equipped cottage. It really was a ‘home from home’ with everything you could wish for. The garden & patio were beautiful and a real sun trap. We spent much of our time there relaxing and watching the local wildlife including a very bold wild rabbit who visited every day. With it being just yards to the beach and some wonderful walks, the cottage was all we could wish for. Fantastic!

  • We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage, everything was put together so well and to a very high standard. The beds were incredibly comfortable and made with good quality soft bedding. The bathrooms were great with a big bath with a separate amazing shower! The wood burner was easy to use and heated the house even with snow threatening outside. The garden was lovely and much like the house, immaculate. The location was unbeatable! A 30 second walk to a stunning quiet beach with access to amazing coastal walks without needing to drive. It was so easy to get to by car and had great access to lots of towns and destinations nearby. The perfect get away that felt like home! Thank you so much to Olivia for such a great stay!

    Rosie2019-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our New-Year stay in this charming and stylish cottage, where Olivia had ensured that we were greeted by a holly wreath on the door and a Christmas tree twinkling in the living room. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds beautifully made up. The cottage has modern amenities and is plenty big enough for our family of 6, without compromising on a cosy and traditional feel. We were always warm and snug despite our mid-winter stay. Cwm-yr-Eglwys is a great place to be at any time of year and our kids spent ages on the sheltered beaches at either end of Dinas Island. We could also choose between bracing coastal and hill walks or the more sheltered valleys of Cwm-Gwaun or the Teifi gorge. Nearby Newport is also an absolute treat with plenty of places to eat (with local produce on the menu) alongside local arts & crafts and practical shopping. We're already planning our return trip! Thanks Olivia.

This is a lovely residential street away from the town centre but within easy walking distance of both Fishguard and Lower Town. Parking is available street side. Fishguard is rapidly becoming a little foodie hub with some great eateries. Check out The Gourmet Pig deli for the best coffees and tapas style lunches, Hooked@21 for award winning Fish and chips and JT@No.3 for amazing fine dining. At the weekend you will love Ffrwn for their champagne and oyster bar, fabulous brunches and woodfired Pizza in the evening.
  • We had a fantastic stay in Alex's apartment. Great location and lovely views as advertised, it is so easy to walk into town and visit good pubs and shops. The apartment was spacious, nicely decorated and extremely clean. We really enjoyed our stay, it felt homely and relaxing, a great base to explore Pembrokeshire from.

  • Beautiful flat on 2/F walk-up town house with beautiful seaview as advertised. Tastefully decorated and good hospitality. Fishguard is a pretty town, even on a windswept stormy night.

    Andrew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place with additional special touches provided by the host. Short walk into Fishguard for all amenities. Excellent communication throughout and would recommend.

  • Thank you Alex! Everything was great!

    Maria2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is realy well located and with a beautiful view over the sea ! It is also very comfy and well equiped ! We had a great stay !

    Anatole2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice apartment with an amazing view of the sea and a short walk into town. Check in and out was seamless and Alex even said we could stay a little longer if required. Our dog Posie, also received a lovely welcome with a 'Welcome Posie' sign and a bag of treats (she says thank you). Only slight negative was there was no TV or WIFI but that didn't bother us in the slightest. We would definitely book again if we returned to Fishguard.

Situated 100 yards from the town centre this stone two bedroom house is set back from the road and overlooking a park. A good size private garden with some decking. A good base from which to explore. Shops , pubs and coast close by. I am nearby should you need anything.
Lockable storage for bikes etc is available. Ample parking for two cars. Reversing in to the drive will help accessing a busy road.
  • Lovely place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Beds were so comfortable and a very homely space but still very stylish. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Excellent house in a great location with parking, outside space and a short walk to the pubs, Co-op supermarket etc.

    Kevin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottage right in the centre of Fishguard. Roaring fire and well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed, only bug bare is that the pipes were a bit noisy during the night! We would 100% stay again. Sad to leave.

    Georgina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house has a wonderful cottage feel with modern convenience. Open fire, great dinning table, very handy downstairs utility room with toilet. It is very well situated for local shops and coastal walking. Julian and all we met in the town made us very welcome. A great Christmas break.

  • A lovely cottage with a great garden, open fire and everything you will need for a comfy stay. Short walk to Fishguard town and a supermarket right next door. Central location with rural feel. Very nice.

  • Really lovely house with everything you could need along with some additional thoughtful touches. Had a great stay would definitely recommended!

    Georgie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just excellent! Julian renovated this place from scratch with lots of attention to detail and turned it into an extremely cosy and homey, yet spacious, place with lots of character. It's actually even nicer than the pictures suggest. We received a very friendly welcome, and we were lucky enough to follow Julian's great suggestions what to do and see in Fishguard and the area - its definitely worth it. The location is great, set back from the main road and very quiet with a countryside feel, though close enough for a quick walk to all shops, pubs, restaurants and to the old harbour. The place has lot's of thoughtful details and equipped with everything needed, as others have already mentioned. I can highly recommend Julian's house and think about coming back.

    Christoph2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly, informative host. Julian even came to meet us when we couldn't find the property. Absolutely lovely cottage, the open fire really warmed us up after a days walking. Close to all the local shops but far enough off the street that you wouldn't realise. A great base to explore the Pembrokeshire coast. We loved our stay and will definitely return.

Our holiday cottage is an upside down barn conversion on our smallholding on the side of the Preseli hills in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It has it's own garden and guests are free explore the farm, there is also access directly onto the hills. We are five miles from the picturesque seaside resort of Newport and ten miles from Fishguard. Whether you are looking to go walking, cycling, horse riding or just exploring our stunning county, we are the ideal base.
Access is via steps to the first floor where you will find and open plan kitchen, diner and lounge. Downstairs there is a double bedroom, a bunk room and a shower room. In the barn next door there is a washer-drier and plenty of space for storing bikes.
We are in the heart of traditional Welsh hill farming. There aren't many people around but those who are, are very friendly.
  • Gernos Fawr is a beautiful cosy cottage in a wonderful location. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely snuggly beds - and fresh eggs to welcome us. Thanks so much, Penny & Ian.

    Almut2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Penny and Ian are lovely, and the cottage is basic but beautiful. Shower was hot, sofa was comfy, kitchen equipped with all you need including decent sized bowls and plates! As a base to explore the Pembrokeshire coast and surrounding countryside, I think you will be hard pushed to find somewhere offering the same value for money. Outside, the cottage has lovely views and a bbq area with a fire pit. At night, sitting outside and roasting a few marshmallows with the family in the middle of nowhere was just lovely. The cottage inside is really nice and cosy, just what you need after a long day at one of the nearby beaches. Our favourite beach was Poppit Sands. Absolutely brilliant for families as the beach is massive and can confidently give the kids frisbees, balls and spinners without much worry that they will hit anyone! Parking is right by the beach and there is a nice little cafe serving the usual paninis / baguettes etc Mwnt was another beach we really liked with some decent waves for body boarding. Other things we enjoyed were Oakwood (although queuing time was fairly ridiculous on certain rides), feeding the sheep at the farm with Penny, and taking a dip in the stream (also at the farm). Overall, we couldn't have asked for more from our stay, I hope we will be back soon!

    Duncan2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Penny & Ian’s farm in the remote hills of Pembrokeshire. The kids loved the dogs, sheep, chickens and ducks. We did a number of walks in the area and further afield (St David’s and Dinas Island) along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, there’s information in the cottage for them all. Newport Sands provides an amazing beach nearby with lifeguards and oodles of space. The cottage is homely and the kids loved the bunk beds. We happily spent a (very) rainy day at the cottage playing board games (there are a few there, we brought our own as well) and watching a DVD or 2. Would not hesitate to book again !

    Jasper2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and quiet, rural beauty, unspoilt countryside and an escape from it all - this is the place to be! We loved our stay and it was hard to leave - especially great for children of all ages. Nothing but sheep and babbling streams for miles around...bliss. Thanks for a great stay Penny & Ian, we will be back next year!

    Anna2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Penny has thought of everything, we weren't wanting for anything. We desperately needed to fall off the edge of the planet to recharge our batteries and Gernos Fawr allowed us to do that. Plenty of walks from your doorstep, we went fishing in New Quay, kayaking in St Davids, horse trekking near Newport and visited many picturesque beaches. A wonderful week.

    Mariam2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all THIS is the place! This small cottage down a long track through farm land is absolutely idyllic. It is wonderfully peaceful and when the sun shone we sat outside and enjoyed how quiet it was. We went with our 2 year old son who had great fun playing in the stream that runs across the bottom of the farm, petting the dogs and very tame sheep on the farm as well as getting up close to the ducks and chickens. The cottage will comfortably fit a family of four and the kitchen is really well stocked with all equipment/utensils you could need. There is a washing machine and space to dry items inside and out which was very useful for us. It is a short drive to the small, beautiful costal town of Newport which has a good selection of eateries, a great butchers and a Spa shop. We did one of a few circular walks that start and finish at the cottage which was beautiful. Penny and Ian were lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome and allowed us to roam the farm freely. We even got to sample some of the chicken and duck eggs - delicious! If you want a quiet spot that celebrates Pembrokeshire’s beauty, that is great for young kids, with warm hosts...book it!

    Susie2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • A converted barn, on a small farm, in a beautiful quiet setting in moorland not far from the Pembrokeshire coast. We had a fantastic time and our hosts were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for providing us with the means to having the perfect relaxing break that we so badly needed!!

    Andrew2019-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Penny's place is beautiful, set in the most peaceful location I have ever stayed. Along with Ian, they are the perfect hosts, allowing us to help feed the lamb was just magical. If you want a perfect location for a holiday in North Pembrokeshire, look no further, you've found it

    Ryan2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here for 2 nights, with a great welcome. The room was a little small for us as we stayed with our 4month old and our travel cot took over. But having access to the sitting room was great for some more space. The breakfast in the cafe was absolutely delicious! We weren't around for the Sunday lunch, much to our disappointment as it sounded like a really treat. Would happily stay again, or indeed visit the cafe for food.

    Ailín2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED our stay at your beautiful B n B . Your place absolutely exceeded our expectations of our idilic break away ! The cosiness and tasteful yet authentic decor, gave us a unique experience rather than just a night away - and to top it off a first class breakfast was just the best way to start our day ( especially when we were feeling a little worse for wear...). Not to add we eat right next to a toasty log fire ...Bliss. You made us feel at home and very welcome !!and were extra accommodating allowing an early check in and provided local taxi numbers which we really appreciated. Our family have already packed there bags to experience your tapas and tunes so we hope to see you again in the near future if you'll have us. Thank you so much. A stay we will remember :)

    Tracy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place, some of the things we loved - it was really nice to have fresh flowers around the house, cool calligraphy/hand-drawn fonts dotted around the place with quirky phrases, loved the artwork on the stairs, the postcard collection in the kitchen, we also loved the cacti plants too! Great to have some fresh milk, bread, butter, welsh cakes and some tea coffee etc. The location is good, close to, Fishguard and the costal road to cardigan and beyond. St David’s is a pleasant drive away as is Haverfordwest. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you could possibly need as is the bathroom. Well stacked section of games and toys to keep youngsters and adults equally amused on those chilled or rainy days. Overall a great place with some lovely personal touches.

  • Adrian and Jen were extremely hospitable, welcoming and friendly hosts. They were very flexible and accommodating to us and our bikes and we had a very comfortable stay. They live very centrally in the town of Fishguard and were very generous with useful local info about where to eat and which roads to take. Breakfast is limited to cold self-service fare (cereal, fruit yoghurt, croissant) with hot toast if you’re lucky (we were!). A very good value B&B.

A bus service runs hourly throughout the day and is free on a Saturday during the summer. There is also a coastal bus service in the summer months. The bus stop is also within a few minutes walk.

  • Very clean, simplistic room in an idealistic location. Great host would highly recommend

  • The bedroom has a comfy double bed, and in the wardrobe is a little table with a kettle, mugs, and a choice of instant beverages. The bathroom and toilet, exclusively for your use, is across the corridor. There is no shower, just a nice big bath tub. Your host Tracy is friendly and laid back, and was happy for me to use the table in the porch (photographed on the website) to eat my fish-and-chips supper (all three pubs were closed for evening meals) and breakfast. She lent me a bowl and a cereal spoon from her kitchen. Very nice for a night or two, close to the hourly bus service and with two beaches only 10 minutes away on foot. There are two shops close by, a couple of pubs which serve evening meals at the end of the week, and a fish-and-chip shop. If you're walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, this is an ideal overnight stop.
