  • I loved everything about this place. I am a confirmed back roads traveler, so the location, on the backroads, about halfway between Kansas City and my next stop in Ft Collins CO was ideal and very convenient to my trip. The hosts, Doing and Michelle, are warm, friendly, and downright charming. The bed was comfy, the hot shower had good pressure, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more. There were bonuses...the precious, beautiful baby, the playful pup, and breakfast before I left. I'm an Airbnb superhost, and I was quite impressed

    Rebecca2018-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Unique blend of hunter’s lodge, vintage diner, and family home all wrapped in a renovated school building. The king bed is very comfortable and quiet. Two of the nicest hosts I’ve met, Michele and Doug love their quirky space and are eager to share it. I’m a food snob and usually avoid the cereal/bagel bar, and when I saw the well-equipped kitchen and Doug’s enthusiasm, I relented. Lucky me—the best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. The building is clean and neatly organized. The detour to stay here will be well worth your time.

    Renee2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Michelle were wonderful hosts! They answered my texts and calls promptly, offered a beautifully renovated and wide open space, and provided breakfast and warm conversation in the morning. They’ve really nailed the welcoming culture of Airbnb. I will definitely choose their home again next time I’m passing through Kansas!

  • This cute couple is just getting started in a new environment, so the accommodations are pretty basic. However, they made up for it with enthusiasm, friendliness, and willingness to please. Friendliest and most economical place for miles and miles!

    Maryella2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We took the "suite" option while visiting relatives in the area. No highway traffic noice, a million stars at night - it was worth the extra bit of driving to get there. The high ceilings of the room and private bath, along with the large sitting area made the king-sized bed seem even more luxurious. And Doug & Michelle were just as gracious as can be. Look forward to staying there again !

    Sue2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Doug & Michelle's home offered a wonderful night's sleep on our way to Colorado. They were friendly and wonderful hosts. Doug & Michelle's home is well worth the drive for a calm and comfortable night.

When Laurel and I were married in 1994, and I moved from Wahoo, Nebraska (near Omaha) to a cattle ranch in northwest Kansas, I knew I had found my Paradise, In 1880, Laurel's grandparents, Enoch and Rebecca Fox, homesteaded the first 180 acres of Goddard Ranch where they raised corn and started buying cattle. Now Goddard Ranch consists of over 3,500 acres of pasture and farmland and, in the same tradition of Enoch and Rebecca, is still a working ranch. When I first came here, I found the open prairie, rolling pasture land, wild flowers, creeks, ponds and wildlife filled my soul with serenity. I loved the ranch so much that I wanted to share the experience and told Laurel that we needed a guest house for friends and relatives when they came to visit. One Christmas I had a Christmas card on the tree from my stepson, John. Inside I found a picture of a very old, ugly house with the caption, "Your next project. Merry Christmas!" John moved that old, ugly house to our ranch and we started the renovation. 10 years, two additions and many gallons of paint later, we have a very beautiful lodge that sits on the side of a hill, with beautiful trees surrounding it and pasture land as far as the eye can see. Inside is a very spacious family room (20x32 feet) that is off from the kitchen and dinning room. There are two bedrooms with a twin bed and bunkbed in each bedroom. We have a new couch that pulls out into a queen-sized bed with a 7-inch mattress in the family room. There are also 2 twin-sized air mattresses and one queen-sized mattress available. There are 2 bathrooms, laundry room with washer/dryer, and a cabinet with a double sink. All bath towels, linens, dish towels and laundry supplies are included. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, all pots and pans, dishes, silverware and the cabinets are stocked with the all staples. Cable TV and wireless internet are supplied. From the front porch, you can watch the horses in the pasture and the cattle grazing over the hill. If you walk up the hill from the back yard, you will find the fishing pond or go about 5 miles down the road to Antelope Lake to fish. You can follow the creek and look for deer antlers, hunt for arrowheads, hike, ride a horse, or watch the sunrise and sunset. At night, roast hotdogs and marshmallows by the campfire under a panoramic view of the stars. You will never see as many stars in the sky than out in the open prairie. If you are traveling with horses, we have a fenced in pasture and a barn to board them. If you are a history buff, we have the Indian effigy, Penokee Man, on our land and will take you to see where he lives after almost 1000 years. Near here was one of the last Indian/Calvery shootouts and our museum in Hill City is full of artifacts that chronicles the vast history of this area. My husband, Laurel, loves to tell stories of when his grandparents homesteaded the first 180 arces. In the last 8 years, Seven 2 Bar has hosted people from India, Ukraine, Italy and from all over the United States. Our lodge is available for weekend getaways, vacations by the week or month, hunting in the spring and fall, family runion, class reunions, or just to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We offer guided turkey and pheasant hunts. Our guides are very experienced and have trained hunting dogs for your pheasant hunt. I offer home cooked meals and make everything from scratch. Come and visit us and see the living history of Goddard Ranch at Seven 2 Bar Adventures.
  • Like I told Mary, my only complaint is that the cabin wasn't closer to where I live. If it was I would be there every weekend. Just a wonderful experience. Thank you Mary.

  • We loved this place! You couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. So much history, wild life and plenty of space to hike and relax! Mary was always available to answer any questions or give tips on places to see or things to do. This is a one of a kind place that I think everyone should experience!

  • Mary is a fantastic host. She made us all feel like family. We enjoyed talking with her and her husband. They told us all about the place and the history of the area which made everything more enjoyable. My boys loved the nature around the area, except the rattlesnake in the quarry. Luckily, Mary had warned us before hand that there are rattlesnakes in Kansas. Hopefully we can make it back next year. Thank you Mary!

  • Loved, loved, loved this cabin/house. The decor was amazing and the house was spotless. Mary was fantastic, so personable and kind. She made us a delicious homemade coffee cake, it was still hot when we arrived. The peace and quiet that deep into the country was just what we needed. The kitchen is loaded with everything you need to cook a meal. The only downside was we had to leave......but, we will 100% be back very soon. Thank you Mary for being the greatest hostess!!!

  • Mary is a wonderful host! She met us with fresh cinnamon rolls and led us in. Her place is perfect for our family to meet halfway from Denver and KC. She seems to have thought of every amenity and we could not have asked for. I'm sure we'll be coming back!

    John2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mary makes me feel like I'm home each time I stay with her. It's an annual treat for me to stay in her cabin.

    David2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and the ranch is the perfect halfway house between KC and Denver, could not asked for a better stop on a long journey. Quiet classic Kansas country! Loved the stay! Thanks guys!

  • Mary, Thank you so much for having us out at the West Cabin. It was my first time using an airbnb and it far exceeded my expectations. You may have spoiled us for the future. We had a wonderful time and we all miss it already. It was nice that you were nearby (especially during the storm) but being up on that hill and being surrounded by all that nature, we got the secluded getaway feel that my husband wanted. The cabin was beautifully decorated and very clean. I appreciated that it was so adorably decorated but wasn't so fancy or stuffy that I was afraid to let my kids be kids. It was very family friendly. My husband was super impressed with the internet speed....lol (priorities). You definitely went above and beyond as a host by not only providing linens and other amenities but also greeting us with a dozen farm fresh eggs, a half gallon of milk, oatmeal, and yogurt for both us and the kids! And of course, you still made sure to get us your famous cinnamon rolls during our stay which we all devoured. During the storm, you checked on us and even allowed my husband to park his truck in one of the sheds to save it from hail damage. Then, you invited us to be part of your family and home at a 4th of July BBQ. Overall, it was a great (last minute) trip to NW Kansas for rest and relaxation, family bonding, and meeting new friends :-) I have told everyone about our wonderful experience and hope they all come visit you as well. Thank you very much...hope to see you again. The Schwabs

Watching wild life and star gazing are only a few of the many attractions of this rural location. View the wide open spaces from the front porch. The east cabin has a handicap bathroom and bedroom with total access on the main floor.
Total privacy! Your nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile north and 1/4 mile west of the cabin.
Any neighbor that you meet will be welcoming and eager to help in any way. This area is very friendly and we have total trust in our neighbors. The town of Morland is unique with it's country store and wonderful local restaurant.
  • We loved Mary’s place. She was an amazing host. She was so thoughtful and helpful. It was a wonderful and peaceful stay. We would gladly go back again.

    Amanda2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had such a good time at Mary's east cabin. We saw fireflies and wildflowers and there was an incredible thunderstorm. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

    Sara2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is in the middle of nowhere, which is just what we wanted! It was very peaceful. We loved watching a storm blow in from the hilltop just down the road, by the radio antennae (which Mary had suggested as a place to see the stars!). And then the early birds enjoyed watching the sunrise from there the next morning. We loved it for a brief family getaway!

    Chris2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was very accommodating, communication was great, the place was clean and just as described. Mary's hospitality was far above anything expected. I would not hesitate to stay again.

The house we stayed in was equipped with everything you can imagine. Full kitchen, clean house top to bottom, and laundry. We had a great trip and will always try to come back to her place.

Two bedrooms, couch, 2 reclining chairs, and plenty of room for air mattresses. this is a perfect hunting get away. Be the host of the party! Central air and heat There is a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, pots, pans and dishes, unfortunately you are the dishwasher. The bar and grocery store are just down the hill. Things to note, there are surveillance cameras at the entryway and kitchen areas also this is basement only rental.
The property is on a farm south of Morland
  • A group of 8 booked this place with no prior reviews for the opening weekend of pheasant hunting. The first issue we came across was the rental was listed as “entire home” instead of a basement apartment. After driving 15 hours and being located an hour and a half away from the nearest hotels with openings, our options were limited. We decided that we could make it work, it wasn’t until the second day when we realized that we had no access to the thermostat control, which is located on the main floor of the house. Other important things located on the main floor of the house include the light to the basement staircase, and the main smoke detector, which we found from poor ventilation in the kitchen. The kitchen is listed as a full kitchen, this is incorrect. There is zero countertop space to prep or cook food, if you aren’t cooking this might not be an issue. Food can be located in Hill City, 15 miles away. There is a stove (with no vent) a refrigerator and a lower cabinet with a very large sink. If the fire alarm goes off due to the lack of ventilation, you can pull the smoke alarm batteries in the basement to silence, but the alarm will continue to sound upstairs till someone arrives to turn it off. Take note the host will attempt to make you pay the $55 service call. The only spot for the coffee pot is on the stove. While we are discussing the kitchen, the utensils drawer was filled with mouse droppings, I recommend a good washing of all dishes prior to use. When you rent a property you have an expectation of privacy, while I can appreciate the added security of a camera it is alarming that the camera is a WiFi enabled camera that can be rotated towards the sleeping area at any time. Also when renting a property there is an expectation of security in being able to lock your belongings when you leave. Our group was there from out of town with several thousands worth of hunting and dog equipment with no secure way of locking. There is no vent in the bathroom and the shower was installed improperly so when you use the shower water runs out on the floor. Without a washer and dryer use your towels wisely when deciding to mop up the water. If you need to wash towels or clothes, the host will tell you the closest laundry is Hayes which is 1.5 hours away, but that is incorrect, Hill City has a laundry. The bathroom is also lacking a vent, but we left some air freshener for future guest. We asked where to put our trash, but received no response from the host so we pilled it on the side of the house in garbage bags. There were no outside garbage cans during our visit and we had to pick up some of the trash a couple...

One of the oldest houses in Quinter, my house is majestic. A quiet place to rest on your way to and from Denver and KC. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and especially families (with kids).
The loft is above the garage, but also accessible from inside the house. From my kitchen I will show you your bathroom, the spacious laundry room, and then the stairs that lead up to your room.
My neighborhood is quiet, but friendly. I never worry about our safety.
  • Great place to stay b4 Colorado. Stay here skip the hotel chains . Clean private quiet. All towels water ect . Big bed very nice .

  • Penny's place is very charming, the neighborhood is quiet and safe. We took a walk around sunset and loved looking at the different houses and little parks. Penny is personable and friendly, our stay was relaxing and we had a short and easy drive to Denver the next morning. Quinter is very small and quiet - so make sure you pack food or eat beforehand! There is a Dairy Queen in town if you need to eat out.

  • Penelope was always very helpful with anything we needed. The place was clean and roomy and very private. Being an upstairs dormer loft with the bathroom downstairs, it may be challenging for some guests. There was good ventilation, air conditioning, fans, and a small refrigerator in the room.

  • This was a great find! It is out in the peaceful part of Kansas and is in a quiet neighborhood. I recommend going to "Breathe coffee" cafe if you are also in the area - it was really cute and cozy. The space itself had everything - to include a washer, dryer (with detergent!), meals in the freezer, nice toiletries and a roomy space. Highly recommend.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Branded 5. It is conveniently located to I 70 and to the town of Hays. It is setup with the bird hunter in mind with dog kennels, freezer space, and a cleaning station. Mike and Steph are great hosts and my only regret is we did not have more time to spend with them. See you again 2018!

  • Highly recommended! Upon pulling into the driveway, I was greeted by a friendly red heeler with a frisbee and a can-do attitude. I was only there for a quick stay, but I would liked to take a stroll and view the horses. The upstairs apartment was perfect and felt like home.

  • What an awesome place! One of my favorite Airbnb's we've stayed in. The hosts were so hospitable and invited our kids to help with feeding the horses. The place was so clean, well equipped with thoughtful extras in the refrigerator and even laundry options. Although secluded, it's only a few miles from town.
