Maria was very friendly and always helpful. Everything was very well maintained and in good condition. Great pool, beautiful garden and well appointed kitchen. We were six adults and three kids aged 29 and everyone had their fun. Each room had its own bathroom. We would come back! Recommended!

Villa Todovista

MichelaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We stayed for 4 days in this house, where we felt welcomed with so much affection and warmth. The owners Angela and efisio are two kind and loving people, who offer an apartment with a wonderful garden. The house really has everything you need, it is immersed in a beautiful quiet area but within walking distance of the city center. We will definitely return because Orosei and its people have a really big heart!

Renovated ancient trullo

ClaudinaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
gratitude: we loved staying here! waking up and hearing the birds in the morning and cooking in the outside kitchen was so peaceful and beautiful. the swings on the trees where so cute and my kids loved it. There were tricycles and scooters for the kids to use. the host is so kind and responsive. He makes home made olive oil that is delicious as well as wine. He had coffee, tea, crackers, bread, pasta and Oranges for us, some italian tomatoe/pizza thing and pigs in a blanket. Host left pasteries for us in the morning. super delicious. we made fresh orange juice in the morning with the kids. there is a kitchen indoor with fridge. gas heater gets the room nice and warm. lots of stars at night. beds are comfortable and a unique experience to sleep in. challenges: no wifi limited cellular service inside the trullo heater must be turned off while you sleep and gone small water heater breaker kept tripping fridge was a little dirty This place is 200+ years old! would stay there again!

A cottage near the sea and mountains

AlaeddineRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a truly wonderful stay at Margo's and Johann's cottage in Trapani! Even before we arrived in Sicily, they were already in touch with us, sending recommendations and asking about our preferences to help tailor our trip. The cottage is located in a peaceful village surrounded by olive trees, vineyards, and mountains, which made the experience even more special and relaxing. From the moment we arrived, Margo and Johann were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always available whenever we needed anything. Thanks to their fantastic tips, we discovered delicious local pastries, hidden beaches, excellent wines and more ! They made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The cottage itself is charming and comfortable, and although the swimming pool was closed due to the off-season, we’re already looking forward to coming back to enjoy it one day, as well as the beautiful outdoor spaces like the barbecue area. Thank you, Margo and Johann, for making our stay so memorable !

Great place, can absolutely be recommended! Very fresh and functional, beautiful terrace, very quiet to be in such a central area. Walking distance more or less to everything. We especially appreciated quick response, friendliness and flexibility of Hervé and Laura, beautiful hosts!

Your guide to Italy

Welcome to Italy

A trip to Italy is about eating exquisite food, enjoying friendship, and appreciating the beauty all around you. The country’s stunningly diverse landscape is home to a 2,000-year-old treasure trove of art, architecture, music, and culture. History is a part of life here, from Pompeii’s perfectly preserved ruins to the enduring glamour of the Italian Riviera. The ancient capital of Rome buzzes with style and flair, and Renaissance cities like Milan and Florence are global centres of fashion and art. Of course, Italy’s rural scenery, dotted with sleepy medieval villages, is just as enchanting. The north of the country can claim the mountainous grandeur of the Alps, the Dolomites, and the Italian Lakes, as well as the gentler allure of Tuscany and Umbria. The south boasts one of the most dramatic and attractive coastlines in Europe, a sunshine-drenched climate, sumptuous cuisine, and, thanks to Naples, the greatest place on the planet to eat pizza. Wherever you find yourself, this is a country that won’t fail to steal a piece of your heart.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Italy

Spring and autumn are wonderful times to stay in one of Italy’s holiday rentals, when the temperatures aren’t too hot and the cities and top tourism spots aren’t too crowded. The climate varies across the country, with winters colder and wetter in the north, while Sicily stays relatively mild during the daytime even in December. The Alps and the Dolomites can offer a retreat from the strong summer heat of the rest of the country in July and August. There are many local and religious festivals between February and April, with Easter of course being a big deal, while August is the month when many towns become somewhat abandoned by the locals, who tend to take their own holidays that month. The skiing season runs from late November to early April.

Top things to do in Italy

Emilia-Romagna

With rolling hills that rival Tuscany’s, this rural region has gone under the radar despite its obvious draws, which include its stellar gastronomy, winemaking, and hospitality. Its Adriatic coastal towns include lively Rimini, while there’s plenty of heritage in its cities, from the former Byzantine powerhouse of Ravenna to the medieval (and now excellent shopping) centre of Bologna.

Gran Paradiso

Italy’s oldest national park, nestled between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, features beautiful Alpine scenery, glaciers, waterfalls, and the 4,061-metre peak from which it takes its name. Its wildflowers and wildlife are best seen between spring and autumn, while it transforms into a ski destination in winter.

Sardinia

This rugged island sitting 120 miles off the mainland boasts some of Italy’s most miraculous coastline, with crystal-blue waters, white-sand beaches, and a backdrop of awe-inspiring cliffs and enchanting sea grottos. Inland, Bronze Age monuments sit alongside medieval villages, and wild forests sweep over its granite mountains.
