Places to stay in Kelty
Restored attractive 2 storey c1900 cottage in the beautiful grounds of Historic Scotland listed Bendameer House. Tastefully decorated, well equipped, comfy beds and quality linen. Use of hot tub with amazing views across Firth of Forth to Edinburgh.
Comfortable, open and flexible space. Lots of outdoor space - huge garden with swings, hot tub, vegetables, hens etc. Decoration - whites with muted blues and beige. Comfortable and cosy with all familiar home comforts. Down-filled duvets, pillows and cushions (allergy sufferers please request alternative). Fire pit, barbecue and outdoor seating- logs provided. Please note that the bathroom is on the ground floor.
Easter Bendameer has stunning views, wonderful light and the sunshine is warm. (Yes, it IS warmer here, for some reason!). There is always shipping or sailing to watch on the water. The small hamlet of houses at Ninelums (also the name of the bus stop!) is approximately half way between Aberdour and Burntisland. The very local history is interesting with limestone mines and quarries being a source of employment and wealth in the past. There is still evidence of the tramway to the harbour which passed behind the cottage. Bendameer House itself was owned by the Ministry of Defence for approx 100 years and in the past hosted grand house and garden parties. After 6 years of use as a boarding house for a school, it has been slowly restored by the Stevens family since 2002. There are historic castles and churches in Aberdour and Burntisland. There are great walks to the Aberdour beaches, art galleries and super gift shops. Special mention goes to The Aberdour Bakery, McTaggarts Cafe and the wonderful deli and post office "Post and Pantry," all in Aberdour. For fish and chips, other takeaway food, a reasonable co-op and a super indoor swimming and wave pool with flumes, Burntisland is excellent.
  • A beautiful property and location. An amazing place to escape away, from the views at the property to the surrounding beaches and towns. Ali was an incredible host from start to finish, very assertive and friendly. We will definitely be back again!

  • This place is so worth the money. Isolated, picturesque, and calm- perfect for those that need a bit of a getaway to either reconnect with themselves or others. It made our holiday that extra bit special, I would highly recommend to come here, I'd love to some back in summer myself!

  • Lovely cottage, with great views. In a lovely location, with a short walk along the coast to a nice sandy beach. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

    Laura2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful cottage with everything you need! The fife costal route is bang on the door step. The walk to the station on this route is only 20-30 mins. The train into Edinburgh was regular, £6 return and only 30 mins. The only trouble we had was getting back from the train station after a late dinner so make sure you pre book a taxi! Lovely get away from the city!

  • Incredible place with stunning views. Ali was a perfect host and we enjoyed every minute. Couldn’t recommend enough. Ali even put up banners and got balloons for a surprise for my boyfriend. Thank you Ali x

  • This cottage is situated in the most beautiful location facing the sea. The inside is equally amazing with great decor all round. And it’s very clean. It’s a sizeable family home which was perfect for myself, my wife and little one. Good sized bedrooms. Ali is a great host above all. She was very welcoming and willing to meet our requests in advance of our stay. She gave us very detailed information on how to get to the home. We used a combination of Google Maps and the instructions she gave us and we had no problem whatsoever finding it.

  • What a lovely part of Scotland, nice coastal path walks, lovely family time. Cottage is great with lovely decor and very well equipped! Hot tub was amazing. Clean and tidy place with everything you need. Definitely recommend a stay here!!

  • Nice room, big, comfortable bed, clean, private bathroom, all the elements you need to be comfortable. Craig is a thoughtful and friendly host who has created a nice airbnb experience. The location is an hour by bus from Waverly and perhaps 10 min walk from the bus stop. Some might consider this a negative but in reality it's an asset. You can go all the way with one single bus, the buses are fabulous, have convenient schedules, the drive is beautiful! I would take that bus even if I didn't have some place to go. We would have never seen that part of the country had we not stayed with a Craig so don't let location put you off, way better than staying in town AND more cost effective. Good job Craig!

    Edward2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nice & spacious room in the small family houses area. The additional advantage was the private bathroom. Nice welcome by the host.

    Magdalena2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night but it was very comfortable. The room is spacious and the bathroom (private) is clean. Craig is very responsive to messages. Thank you !

    Florian2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay the night before flying back home. Nice location outside the city, near fife. Super clean, super comfortable bed, tv with netflix, parking space, clean bathroom with nice shower. Craig is a super friendly host and we felt welcome. Definitely recommend to stay!

    Lianne2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Craig’s guest room and en-suite was spotlessly clean and in a very quiet street. The bed is very, very comfortable and the bedclothes and towels smelled great! I really enjoyed my short stay with them. I slept very well and woke feeling very refreshed. Craig offered use of his kitchen and complimentary hot drinks. I recommend Craig’s room, which is great value for money.

This is a true bed & breakfast location, but there is a grocery store a short distance down the road if there is something extra that you want. If you want a delightful place to stay while you're sightseeing in the area, I would highly recommend this place. Very nice & quiet place to enjoy your stay.

Quiet, semi-rural village. Easy access to tourist attractions/cities as well as countryside for outdoor pursuits. I am willing to offer B&B and meals if desired + lifts to/from transport points (and attractions) for extra charge. I have knowledge/info about places of interest etc. I'm a chatty, sociable, hands on host, but can give peace/privacy if preferred. I have cats but they are avoidable! 20 miles from Edinburgh & Perth, an hour from Glasgow and other places reachable for day trips.
A quiet, comfortable, homely but spacious base from which to venture out and enjoy the whole of Scotland in all its forms, or simply relax and rest in between adventures.

  • Elizabeth is a lovely, friendly lady who goes the extra mile or two to make her guests welcome and comfortable.

  • My daughter and I arrived at Liz’s place after the Loony Dook, wet, cold and tired. Liz gave us a very warm welcome - a hot bath and she even washed our wet things! Liz’s hospitality is outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter and I are gluten intolerant and Liz had lots of gluten-free food for us and there were lots of lovely touches in our room. The room is very well equipped with all sorts of kitchen items for private dining should that be the guest’s preference. Liz also has a wealth of local knowledgeable and has lots of tourist information books and leaflets. She even printed maps and helped me with my route. We’d definitely stay again.

    Katherine2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth collected me from Edinburgh airport. She was friendly and welcoming. When we arrived back at her house, it was lovely and warm. There were a few nice touches in my room (fluffy dressing gown and slippers, mini jams, marmalade, butter, earl grey tea and hot chocolate and water). During my stay, I decided I wanted to go to Elie via bus. Elizabeth was happy to provide detailed route plans. Overall, I enjoyed my stay with Elizabeth who is a friendly host - nothing was too much trouble for her.

  • Vivien's is the hostess with the mostest and her air bnb is one of the nicest I have ever experienced! Her communication was absolutely immediate. The room and ensuite bathroom I had were beautiful, huge and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and cosy and big, fluffy towels were provided. It was a very convenient location for working nearby Queen Margaret Hospital and I never left for the day without having a great breakfast first. Vivien even offered me lifts when the weather was bad and was genuinely lovely to talk to, while giving me a quiet and private environment to study when I needed it. Her amazing hospitality was so appreciated! I would certainly book with her again.

  • There was a warm welcome from Viv and Ray (including a log fire) and I spent a very comfortable night here. They were very welcoming and interested in my plans for the long distance walk I was doing. Ray very kindly took me to a local mining memorial in the morning, allowing me to get a sense of the history of the place before I set off that day.

Bright double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. My house is in a very quiet cul-de-sac. Please feel welcome to use kitchen, sitting room and outdoor decking area. Dalgety Bay has easy access by car, bus or train to Edinburgh (25 minutes). Ideally situated for St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Fife Coastal routes.
Please feel free to use the sitting room but if you just want privacy this room is ideal as it is quite separate from the other living areas.
My home is a short walk to the sea. Dalgety Bay has many lovely walks to explore in addition to being part of the Fife Coastal Path walk. It also has an active sailing club. Aberdour is a neighbouring village and is home to two beautiful beaches, a harbour, castle, golf course and a choice of traditional pubs and shops. If you want a bit of history, I would recommend visiting Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland. It has a wide number of historical venues such as the royal palace, a 12th century abbey (which is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce) and the burial site of 11 other Scottish kings and queens.

There are some good walks on their doorstep and there is a pub 150mtr from the house. There is plenty of parking available. With highly recommend.

  • John & Barbara's annexe provided us with a spacious and comfortable base to explore this beautiful part of Scotland. The accomodation is extremely well equipped and child friendly for our 6 month old, with plenty of space for a travel cot in the bedroom. John was great at providing us with any local knowledge we required. A highly recommended place to stay with great hosts!

    Sam2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The annexe is a very nice, new building. It has a modern kitted out kitchen and is overall very spacious. There is enough room for a couple. It is also has nice views of a hillside from the living room and has a forest walk in front which is very pleasant and takes about half an hour. Found no fault and would highly recommend it as a place to stay.

  • My stay was great! I travel a lot and found that the house was positioned perfectly. It is located in a charming town, 15 mins from Dunfermline Bus Station (you can easily catch any of the many buses to/from Edinburgh, Glasgow, etc.); less than 5 mins walk from a Tesco superstore; and, most importantly, located in a safe neighborhood (I am a solo traveler). The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby! There was plenty of natural sunlight which I absolutely appreciated and the WiFi was fast. I work from my laptop and typically have a hard time with downloads and uploads for photography and video. This was not the case at all here. I had an en suite bathroom which was nice as well. My inquiries were answered quickly and Karen made sure that I had everything that I needed. I highly suggest staying here if you are looking for a hub between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is priced very well and you will quickly feel like you are settling into home.

  • Great place to stay in Dunfermline. You don't even need a car as it's a few yards away from the main bus route. The town centre is strolling distance My room was clean and thoughtfully decorated, good shower in the ensuite. The fact there was a kitchen and lounge for guests was a huge bonus. Full job and oven with a great fridge as well. Lovely area to eat in and then spacious couches to lounge around on. Wouldn't think twice about booking again.

  • Despite right next to a road it's a very relaxing and comfy apartment. It's a stone throw away from the train station and a bus stop; travelling is not an issue. The included welcome pack of tea and coffee basket is charming and welcoming. A nice and spacious lounge with an attached small, cute kitchen is suitable for everyday food and drink preparation. The bedroom has plenty of space for clothing to be stored in the wardrobes and drawers. The bed is comfy and warm. I will definitely consider staying there again if I visit Scotland again.

For those people that like running, I bet you want find a better place to do running along side Loch Leven being at 1 mile from Pauline’s home. Pauline’s house is in Kinross located in the heart of Scotland with beautiful landscapes, and ease drive to main cities like Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, etc., and major parks like The Trosachs, Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine, National Park Cairngorms with plenty of trails starting from Aviemore or Pitlochry. I will certainly recommend Pauline.

  • We have never seen such beautiful town before, it was amazing. Just take a tour by the sea shore, it will give you the best experience ever. It is a typical Scottish city in the country of Fife, I had the chance to take the bus and did a tour of the nearby cities as well. The room is so comfortable and beautiful. Private kitchen all equipped, separate bath and toilette. Buses come every hour so be careful with the bus timetable in case you miss them. A small shop just 400 meters away and you can find fresh fruits and food over there. In a word, if you want to explore deeply the Scotland, it would be perfect for you. Highly recommended this house and Annie.

Small single room in guesthouse. The room is in the upper level of the house and has an attic style roof so is not suitable for very tall people.
  • Michael went above and beyond during my stay. Excellent host.

    Colin2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s Airbnb is a quaint Victorian B&B just a walk away from some of the sites in the town. It was lovely to chat with Michael, he offered great tips and stories. As well as a room change with no charge. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone!

    Victoria2018-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little room for staying overnight. The kitchen and bathroom are clean and well decorated. Communication with Michael was good, he is a helpful host.

    Maria2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Michael's. It is an old property with the character one expects from such a building; nevertheless it is all thoroughly modern in its facilities. Michael was available, flexible, and we had an interesting conversation on first encounter. I should happily stay there again.

  • Great value spot, has everything you need to homebase for a look around the town. Michael was very friendly and helpful.

    Grant2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Well, what a pleasant surprise to arrive at such a reasonable priced place and find a sparkling clean environment that's been very well furnished by someone with an eye for antique design. A+++ host Micheal, offered to pick me up from the station (helpful on a rainy evening in Dunfermline), stopped off at a restaurant so I could grab a takeaway, and we had a great chat and little laugh too. Five star hosting. Great accommodation. What more can I ask for?

    Lade2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Michael was really quick and easy to communicate with from the start. Very friendly and welcoming. The room was just as described and perfect for a short stop over. The communal kitchen/dining room and the bathroom were really lovely rooms. It was easy to find by car and I could park right outside which was a bonus. All good, couldn't fault it.

Our lovely flat is located in a listed building on Aberdour's Main Street. There is a 5 minute walk to the station and the village centre's pubs and shops, 5 minutes to the Fife Coastal Path and 10 minutes to the beach and harbour. Edinburgh City Centre is 30 minutes by train (airport 45 minutes). We have off street parking and are next door to a corner shop. The flat has free WiFi . There is a wood burning stove in the living room and the flat has been recently decorated in neutral tones.
You enter the flat through a small hallway, which has some hanging space for coats and bags. The living room has a lovely comfortable 'L' shaped sofa and armchair . There is a West Elm coffee table which has a section that you can raise up to act as a desk. You can use the wood burning stove, internet television and Amazon Alexa. There are some board games and books that guests are welcome to use. We will leave a log for the burner so you can get a fire started. You can buy more logs at the garden centre in Dalgety Bay or the petrol station at Dalgety Bay. The bedroom has a double bed with Indian Cotton bedding. There is cupboard with drawers and shelves. There is no wardrobe hanging space but there are some hooks over the bedroom door with 6 hangers. There is a full length mirror and a hairdryer. The kitchen is a small kitchen with an electric hob, oven, washer/dryer and fridge freezer. The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need to cook a meal. There is a small table and 2 fold away chairs in the kitchen. We do not have a dishwasher. There is coffee and tea in the cupboard. There are also some basic provisions in the cupboard which you are welcome to use. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet . There is a mirror and shaving plug. Towels will be provided. The flat is accessible via the rear of the building and there is a flight of 6 stone steps to the front door from the car park. There is a wrought iron banister, but this might not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
Aberdour is a lovely community, there are golf, tennis , bowling and sailing clubs in the village . The Silver Sands Beach is award winning and has life guards during peak season. There is a cafe on the Silver Sands that is open for breakfast and lunch - the view is stunning. Aberdour is well positioned to access lots of beautiful walks including the Fife Coastal Path. There is information about some of the walks and an OS Map in the flat. The village has a good real ale pub the 'Foresters Arms' and 2 hotels, The 'Aberdour Hotel' and the 'Woodside' - both do good food. There is a fish restaurant, 'Room with a View' down near the harbour. You can visit 'McTaggarts Cafe' in the village and the village deli and bakers. The flat is next door to the 'Purple Shop' - you can buy Dalachy Farm meat and fresh rolls at the shop. It also sells newspapers, wine/beer and general provisions. Aberdour has it's own castle and the 13th Century St Fillans Church.
  • Warm, cosy flat in a great location. The beach and coastal trail walks are minutes away. We had a great few nights away and would return.

  • Lovely flat with fantastic wood burning stove in a great location near to fantastic walks!

    Kyla2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Julia is an amazing host, very responsive to enquiries and very friendly. The flat was absolutely perfect, very clean and in an ideal location..I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

    Chris2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely flat with great character. We had a nice weekend away and with the completely horrible weather it was lovely to come back and light a fire!

    Carrianne2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The flat was beautiful and spacious with a well-stocked kitchen and a lovely fire place. We were not there much as it mostly served as a crash pad for a new year's holiday, but it was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Just a note for those who look for these things, the bed was quite a hard mattress. I would not presume to make this a negative in the review, but I wanted to mention it for those that it matters for.

    Abigail2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great cosy flat with everything you need, we would return!

    J2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s place is fantastic and just the job for accommodating the oldiwonks when they are visiting. It has everything you need and is handy for all the local amenities like the shop, beach and train station. Private parking is a definite plus!

    Paul2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The description and photos of Julia’s flat are accurate, so the space was as I imagined. Absolutely no disappointments. The little touches were great - breakfast products, honesty fridge and toiletries. Plenty of soft towels. The wood burning stove was great, especially for the cold evenings. Being there in December was not the best to appreciate either the flat or the surrounding area, although we did manage to get a walk in on the 2nd day. The flat was ideally placed in the village, for the station, places to eat and other local facilities. Great for the Fife Coastal Path.

Dunfermline 15 miles north of Edinburgh. A traditional Bed & Breakfast with the option to book additional rooms or the whole house. My place is close to the city centre, public transport, parks, and nightlife. There is a private residents lounge and kitchen. All beds are hotel quality including mattresses and linen. My place is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and big groups. Our property has all Health & Safety certificates, Fire Alarms & Doors etc
All guests have access to a private residents lounge, fully equipped kitchen and washing machine facilities.
The neighbourhood is a quiet residential area close to city centre amenities.
  • The hosts are lovely, very good communication, facilities and everything. Very well traveled and respectful of everyone. The place is very clean and there were no issues. Would stay again if required.

  • Karen was great. Incredibly welcoming from the first moment of contact. The house was spotless and very cosy. It was great having a kitchen area to cook in and lounge to relax. I found the stay to be very relaxing. Karen was there to help at any time but also gave plenty of privacy to guests the rest of the time.

    Kyle2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give it 10 stars I would. What an amazing home from home. The bedrooms are a great size with lovely comfortable beds. The house has thick walls which means noise doesn't travel room to room. But everyone staying was very respectful and it was peaceful. The shared bathroom was never a problem. It is super clean and has a fabulous shower. The shared spaces are an added bonus. Again great size, super clean and lovely comfortable couches. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, heat up food, make hot drinks. It's approximately a 10 min walk into town, shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, parks and the bus station. Very accessible. Karen the owner is lovely and very helpful. She lives in a private part of the house and leaves you to get on with it which means you can make yourself at home and feel comfortable.

  • A lovely flat very well located in Burntisland for the local shops, train station, beach, leisure centre and park. The train station is brilliant for exploring the local area and gets you to Edinburgh in half an hour too. Sacha is a great host, very good at keeping in contact and provided a travel cot and highchair so our daughter could enjoy our holiday too. The surrounding area is beautiful too - in particular Silver Sands in Aberdour, a beautiful beach with a lovely restaurant next to it. Aberdour is beautiful with lovely cafes, coastal walks and a castle. The flat is well located to explore all that Fife has to offer.

  • This is a lovely place to stay; clean, quiet and with all the amenities you could need. Our only quibble was that the shower head wouldn't only stay up, making showering a little tricky. We solved it by shoving a small wedge behind the attachment. Pepe is charming and quiet - no need to make small talk - and we never felt that we were intruding on someone else's life. The cooking facilities are great! As a place to stay for the Edinburgh Fringe, it was excellent - the only issue there being that the last train leaves at 23:19 most days, so we couldn't do late shows. Fully recommended.

  • I loved my stay at Agnieszka's cosy home! I needed somewhere quiet and peaceful to relax during the day as I was playing in a show during the evenings, and that was also convenient for Edinburgh. Agnieszka's home is lovely, quiet, full of interesting decorative touches and ornaments, with a lovely kitchen with everything you could need, including more herbs and spices than I've ever seen! :-) With Virgin TV, Netflix and a big selection of DVDs there was plenty to watch. She was very helpful and friendly, and as nice when I met her as I'd anticipated having seen her home/kitchen/books/etc. I'll definitely be back when I play the same show next year. :-)
