Places to stay in Lanark
Cosy, rustic, off-grid wooden cabin, surrounded by mature, private woodland with diverse wildlife. 1.5 miles south of Biggar. Woodburning Stove & Cookware Sleeping Bags/Pillows with fresh cotton slips/Towels/Firewood/Candles all provided Outdoor (heat your own water) Camping Shower Compost loo Views to Coulter Fell & Tinto Hill - fantastic hikes! Easy walk to River Clyde Glentress/Peebles 30min by car, Edinburgh 40min, Glasgow 50min Regular Direct Bus Service * This is not Glamping! ;-)
A renovated wooden horse stable with mezzanine bed up a ladder, wood-burning stove (pots/pans/utensils etc provided), kitchen sink with fresh drinking water and DIY outdoor (hot!) camping shower. This is simple, rustic living for those who want to be closer to nature, surrounded by trees and birdsong. The site is not completely free of road noise (see satellite image) but with a light wind through leafy trees it's certainly well masked. Winter visitors be sure to bring appropriate day/night wear.
Biggar is a historic market town, Coulter has great walks and an excellent old pub - The Mill Inn. The woodland around the bothy has many species of birds including sparrowhawks and firecrest wrens, the occasional fox and regular visits from deer.
  • I am sad to say we had to cancel our stay at Merlin’s Bothy owing to the chaos caused by the pandemic. However Merlin was extremely kind and understanding and helped me with the somewhat complicated refund process. I am deeply grateful and I would recommend wholeheartedly.

  • Really nice and basic. Perfect for a meditation retreat.

    Joseph2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • I happened to arrive at the right time to catch Merlin, who was very welcoming and friendly. The bothy was easy to find as the sun was setting and would be easy to find in the dark too! The instructions left in the bothy were clear and helpful and I soon had a lovely warm fire going in the stove. The bed space is cosy and gets the best of the heat, seats are comfy and there were plenty of thoughtful extras without there being "too much". The woodland itself is very well managed and fun to explore, with birdsong all day long.

    Catherine2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, definitely easier to get around with a car but fairly easy if you rely on public transport too! The outdoor shower is such a great addition to the cabin, it’s also been so great to wake up to the sight of the woods every single day - I’ll definitely be back in summer!

  • Amazing stay. Feel cleansed of modern day stresses. A lovely off grid reset.

  • Wonderful stay in a lovely suite which was spacious and very comfortable. Great breakfast as well.

    Wendy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place to stay. Marion greeted us and made us most welcome, we hadn’t been in the house very long before she was making us a pot of tea (there was numerous types of biscuits to be had too)and having travelled from the Isle of Skye this was really welcomed. Marion suggested and booked a restaurant for dinner, even offering for her husband James to drive us there! We walked as being cooped up in the car for several ours we needed to stretch our legs, the restaurant was only a 10 minute walk away. The restaurant, Prego, was excellent. The accommodation is exceptionally comfortable and superbly finished with luxurious touches in both the lounge area, bedroom and bathroom. We have stayed in several Airbnb’s but have never been offered breakfast until now and what an excellent continental breakfast it was too - a selection of cereal, yoghurt, fresh raspberries and blueberries, toast, croissants, different types of jam and marmalade, orange and tomato juice and a pot of tea. Superb! We thoroughly recommend a visit to Marion and James’ home, they are a great couple who really want you to enjoy your stay with them. We will be back!

    Annie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an absolute dream. From start to end we were made to feel at home, where Marion and James happily welcomed us in to their gorgeous home. Our suite was spotless and so cosy, and the welcome basket was much appreciated. We stayed for a wedding down at New Lanark, where Marion gave us a lift down to the venue. So kind! The comfortable bed at night was just what we needed when we got home. It was lovely to meet Marion and James. Cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you again!

Sunnyside Lodge is the perfect place for getting away from it all, but with an abundance of activities on your doorstep! Situated in a quiet nook just outside the ancient market town of Lanark (a Royal Burgh since 1140) you benefit from the lovely restaurants and shops on Lanark High Street and the UNESCO World Heritage site of New Lanark just 2 miles away. For a city experience Edinburgh and Glasgow are less than an hour away with excellent transport links. Who says you can't have it all?!
Sunnyside Lodge dates back to at least 1825 and is a charming stone bungalow with a private cottage garden. The luxury kitchen leads out to a patio area, complete with gas BBQ and outdoor sofas. Perfect for relaxing with friends and a glass of wine on warm summer evenings! Sunnyside Lodge has just been through a full renovation and we set out to create a beautiful home from home, full of Highland charm. This cottage has so much character, from its ramparts to the log burner keeping guests cosy on winter days and nights. We have put a lot of ourselves into the styling too - the two bedrooms are decorated with our family tartans, Macintosh and Buchanan. The welcoming shower room is fresh and clean with wood finishes and blue and white decor - finished with a fantastic power shower. The kitchen has an American style fridge freezer, coffee machine, wine fridge, AEG appliances and granite worktops. It's extremely well equipped - we believe that a holiday home should be at least as comfortable and as well equipped as our guests' own homes. You will enjoy the welcome basket with local goodies including Sunnyside homemade jams made with our own fruit! Snuggle in front of the log burner with a movie if you feel like a quiet evening in. There are televisions in each bedroom and Sky Q and free wifi means you can be as connected as you wish...or not! Your neighbours are spring lambs in the adjoining fields, and wildlife abounds - hares, woodpeckers, owls and deer wander though the estate. Take a walk through the walled rose garden at Sunnyside House or a ramble through the woods. The river Clyde and River Mouse border the estate and fishing is available.
Lanark is an ancient Royal Burgh, created by King David I in 1140, and is a 5 minute drive away. It benefits from excellent restaurants (La Vigna, Prego, Route 36...) tearooms (Wallace Tearoom, Le Petit Cafe) and a great selection of shops. For golfers, the excellent James Braid designed Lanark golf course, is the 25th oldest in the world and has hosted many prestigious events, including Qualifying for the Open Golf Championship. New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is only 5 minutes away, and continues the trend of history at every turn, which is so evident in Lanark. The town is renowned for its connection with Scottish hero, William Wallace. He continues to watch over Lanark even today - his statue takes pride of place at the end of the High Street!
  • A cosy Scottish retreat with the warmest welcome you could ever hope for.

  • We loved staying in this luxury cottage. It is very beautifully and thoughtfully done and very well-equipped. Great log burner and kitted out kitchen. Lucy is a fantastic host. Very friendly and she had left a great welcome basket which included her delicious homemade jam and scones. She also gave us lots off eggs from her own chickens. Seriously comfortable beds too! We had a lovely relaxing time with our two children and our dog. We would highly recommend.

  • The five star rating wasn’t enough, perfect place with outstanding hospitality, definitely recommend Sunnyside Lodge and looking forward to staying here again in future. Homemade scones and jam with clotted cream and fresh eggs from the chickens outside. We were here for my friends hen party and had Prosecco chilling in the fridge for our arrival. • We have just enjoyed a lovely stay at Sunnyside Lodge. Its very peaceful, warm, comfy and cozy. Log burner in the lounge was a treat. Beautifully furnished and decorated, and had everything you could want for a stay. beds very comfy - we all slept well, helped by the total silence! Lucy was easy to contact should you need to. She had prepared a lovely welcome basket of local goodies, including some delicious homemade scones and jam. And the daily eggs from the chickens were the most tasty and richest eggs we have ever eaten! The location is great for southern Scotland. We went to the Falls of Clyde for a fabulous 6km walk, saw the mills at New lanark, but didnt have time to go in. Also visited Colzean Castle and Country Park on the Ayrshire coast (about 1.5 hours away), Glasgow School of Art for the open day (daughter looking at uni choices), and the most wonderful visit to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. It is full of this amazing collection of everything, and has one of the worlds most famous pipe organs - they even do a daily organ recital at 1pm for 30 minutes for free, and it sounds incredible. The cafe there is v good too, especially the fish and chips! Glasgow is easy to get to by either car or train - we did both. all in all, we had a great week, with a lovely homely base to come back to each evening. We will be recommending this place to our friends and family, and hope to come back!

  • We stayed here for two nights with our children age 1&5. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting! Very clean, modern with great use of space. Appreciated the welcome basket and the fresh eggs. The stove was great with a never ending supply of logs. Lucy was easy to communicate with. The beds were super comfy and there was no noise at night We will definitely stay here again. 10/10

There are a number of supermarkets nearby and it's very easy to get to the train station where you can easily access Glasgow. We stayed over the Christmas period and there was even a Christmas tree and some decorations which was a lovely touch. I'd definitely recommend this place and will hopefully stay again next year.

  • Such a beautiful place to stay and the location within the city is perfect. It is quiet with an incredible view and still everything is in walking distance. Doreen is incredibly friendly and her recommendations for food and drinks were great.

  • Great place, very clean, great room, great breakfast and great host!

    Harry2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Doreen gave us a very warm welcome and the room is great. It was wonderful to wake up and glimpse the hills through the crenellations! The breakfast was delicious, and the space was beautifully clean.

  • Doreen provided excellent hospitality for my stay. I could not fault it and will definitely stay there again when in the area. Great breakfast as well!

  • I had a short but amazing stay at Dorren's. Her flat is unique, quiet, extremely clean, and I had an excellent breakfast! Doreen and her dog are lovely, thanks again for everything! I'll come back for sure

    Anne2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I came on a genealogy hunt only to find a second home! Doreen's energy, zest for live and warmness made me instantly comfortable. Even Breia the dog was warm and welcoming! That's not to mention the comfortable room, comfy bed, spacious closet AND a bathrobe. Which I took full advantage of. Breakfast was fresh fruit, tea, toast and more. I definitely didn't leave in the morning hungry. As a walker, location was great. Ten minutes to the train station (and a good grocery store) and twelve minutes to downtown. Even New Lanark was only a 34 minute walk. I loved the heritage building. Even with some construction the view was lovely and the building rich was history. I can't recommend this enough for a great space and a wonderful host.

    Stephanie2018-10-18T00:00:00Z

  • The Tinto hideaway was superb accommodation, i would happily stay there again and would highly recommend to anyone as a place to stay. The accomodation was clean & organized throughout. Siobhan was very helpful and made sure that we knew where everything was . The teabags, muffins and ginger biscuits were a lovely touch and much appreciated.

    Neil2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great hoast and quick to reply to any questions about the location. Welcoming host and the place was very clean. Will stay again if in the area.

    Anna2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tinto hideaway was a really nice accommodation. Everything was clean & organized. Siobhan met us at checkin, made sure that we knew where everything was and answered all of our questions. The croissants and ginger biscuits were a delightful to go with many other personal touches throughout. Our kids loved the upstairs bedroom and the spiral staircase. There were lots of books for those rainy days. We were able to drive to the Helix/Kelpies and Falkirk wheel with no problem. We also recommend Prego in Lanark (Italian) as an alternative to delicious fish and chips.

    Russell2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is attached to the owners house, but it is completely separate, with its own door. Great having 2 bathrooms! I would suggest older (sensible) children only, as the spiral staircase is great, but not advisable for small kids. It's 3 minutes walk into Lanark, but in a quiet cul-de-sac. We went to Edinburgh from Manchester, and it broke up the journey well (its handy for Glasgow too!) Host provided bath and hand towels for all, and tea/coffee/milk/etc - everything you might need. There are also some great books! Fully recommended.

    Rayne2019-06-10T00:00:00Z

1 bedroom apartment, just renovated and in excellent condition. New Kitchen. 1 Double Bedroom, and Sofa Bed in the living room.
Images are of actual flat with exception of the image with the TV and the Sofa. Both images are of neighbouring flat (which I live in) - the sofa and TV for the actual flat on Air BnB hadn't arrived when taking photographs.
Cambusnethan is a desirable area on the outskirts of Wishaw. The apartment is situated in a private housing estate built in the 1980's by Wimpey and has great views to the rear, sitting 15 metres back from the street at the front. There is private parking, and a rear garden with plenty space to sit outside and relax or even eat al fresco (weather dependent of course).
  • Stayed for a week while working nights in Glasgow, clean place and all you need to be comfortable Archie lives below and is only too happy to help you with anything.

    David2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very restful couple of week’s at Archie’s flat during the Christmas-New Year period. It was great to find this place, in an area without many Air BnB choices. The flat is very well located – shops and takeaway restaurants are close by, and there’s easy highway or train access to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Flat is very clean and comfortable, ideal for one or two travelers. All our communication was handled quickly and usually in person. We recommend this as a great place to stay!

  • A fantastic host, made me feel very welcome. Nice home, with full access to entire house. Lovely clean bedroom with TV and good wifi access. A great location for my daily commute to Glasgow, good parking and shops nearby. Lyam was very good at suggesting local venues, shops, transport routes etc. A great host, with a lovely home and made me feel very welcome. Thank you very much Lyam, I shall be back again.

  • Lyam is very friendly. He recommended us how to go to the place we wanted to go,and we talked about a lot of other things for several hours. There are two cute dogs in the house, and they are friendly too. It’s a good choice to live there, and the view around the house is very good.

    Dian2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lyam is a great host, and he took time out to give us lots of useful suggestions for our trip. His house is well-situated not far from the motorway junction, which was perfect for our stay as we drove through. The bedroom and bathroom were both really clean and the dogs that Lyam has were no trouble at all. Excellent value for money and highly recommended.

Bright light family home in central Wishaw, 3 minutes from Wishaw train station. Central access to motorways M8 and M74, off road parking. Ideal location to explore Lanarkshire including New Lanark World Heritage Centre, Summerlee Heritage Centre, Chatelherhault and Strathclyde Parks. Within walking distance of Wishaw General Hospital and Wishaw town centre with a range of cafes, bars and shops.
  • Stuart’s and his family are amazing hosts. He is very responsive and communicative. He offered me to pick up at the station that’s I respectfully declined in the beginning because his home is literally two minutes walk from the station but When I arrived at Wishaw station, it was raining and my GPS was not working. I called him and asked for a help and in next few minutes, he was there to pick me up with a big smile. He, Diane and Lizzie are very friendly and I felt like home during my entire stay. They open their whole house for me and gave me a personal key to come and go as I please. Room was sparkling clean with adjustable heat and private bathroom with walk-in shower. Stuart’s yogurt breakfast is a must try. He makes sure that you have the breakfast the way you want it. When I was checking out, I was carrying a baggage and Diane, though, she came from a night shift, she dropped me at the station. I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. They really go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as they can. Highly recommend and I am definitely staying again.

    Khuram2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart and Diane are lovely people. Nothing is too much trouble. Their home is beautiful as was the room we stayed in. Comfy bed and a great on suite bathroom. Breakfast was great and we had access to the kitchen to make tea etc. Always biscuits on hand. We were staying in Wishaw to visit family so the location was perfect. But the house is very close to the railway station so also perfect for trips to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Highly recommend staying here.

    Stephen2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just fabulous. Give a half hours notice of your arrival and you will be greeted with a lovely pot of tea/biscuits/fruit. The house is in pristine condition. Both bedrooms have private bathroom facilities. There’s a lovely little TV room that you could have to yourselves or you are warmly welcomed to use the rest of the house which has some great design features. It’s vicinity (a short walk from the railway station) is also a bonus- no point taking your car to Glasgow- the train is far more convenient. Don’t let the closeness of the trains put you off - I heard the first one or two and didn’t notice them after that. Stuart, Diane and Lizzie are such a gorgeous family- the warmth is there from the first second. They really do open their home up to you but you are of course free to come and go as you wish. I would highly recommend this Airbnb for all sorts of reasons but the experience you get for the price paid is outstanding - don’t miss this opportunity!

    Elaine2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart and his family were lovely. Couldn't have a better Airbnb. Everything was perfect and it felt like we were family. Would highly recommend.

  • Lovely flat, and lovely hosts! Ann and Graeme put up a beautiful Christmas tree in the flat for our visit. They also left some milk, and delicious shortbread. The flat is really modern, clean, and perfectly located on the Main Street. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Ann is a fabulous host & the accommodation at the Douglas is superb. All mod-cons as described, everything in excellent condition, super clean & inviting right down to the milk & biscuits waiting for our arrival. Well worth a stay here. The location is a perfect base for exploring the local area & further afield.

    Carri2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Douglas is a great place from which to explore Glasgow, Edinburgh, and much more of Scotland! The property is clean and convenient to many places. AND, if you like Tunnock’s biscuits, you couldn’t ask for a better location!

  • Great place to stay

    Declan2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend The Douglas it is ideally located on Uddingston Main Street among the many shoos, cafes , pubs and restaurants. The flat is very stylishly furnished and impeccably clean. The owners Ann and Graham are a lovely couple who are on hand to help if and when needed. I will book The Douglas again as my son is at University in Glasgow so I will be returning to Scotland a couple of times a year. Kind regards Michelle

Dipper Cottage is situated at the foot of Tinto Hill (hill of fire) near Loch Lyoch which is popular with hill walkers, ramblers and fishermen. Dipper cottage is set in a very quite relaxing location, ideal for hill walking, climbing, parascending and fishing on our own private trout fishery. We are approx 10 min drive to the market towns of Lanark and Biggar. Our location gives easy access to the Beautiful Scottish borders yet only 45mins drive to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
  • The cottages are remote being at the end of a private road, but the scenery is fantastic and the sense of calm and peace is lovely. We found our cottage very homely and it allowed us freedom on our trip as well as feeling more relaxed after a 7 hour drive. We had everything we needed and would happily stay there again if we were in the area.

    Christine2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The stay is a little far from the city, if you do not go with a rented car the truth is that I do not recommend it, but the landscape, the hospitality and the rest are wonderful. Nothing to object, would return without hesitation.

    Lucas2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Munro’s cottage for my grandparents who were visiting relatives in Biggar. We were provided with accurate directions which helped them to find the place without any hassle. Munro’s mum was very nice to them and was available in case they needed help with anything and the cottage was very clean and in a lovely location. Thank you for a great stay!

    Hannah2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Arrived later in the evening than planned but still received a lovely welcome from Munro's mum who lives on site. Amazing peaceful location and only a 10-15 minute drive from Lanark. Anyone staying at the cottage can get a pass for £10 to fish at the owners trout fishery. The cottage warms up very quickly with the heating on so I imagine it would still be suitable even in the winter months.

    Lewis2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Dipper Cottage as accommodation whilst we were working in the area over a weekend. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location and everything was very clean. There are plenty of pots & pans, crockery and utensils in the kitchen. There is no private garden but there is a nice wooden seating set on the front decking overlooking the main cottage garden. At night, we had a great view of the stars and we loved watching the bats swooping overhead. Gwen was very helpful when we needed something to treat a minor burn and we had some lovely chats!

    Bev2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely welcome and place to stay in a beautiful location of Scotland. Really enjoyed our stay

    Amy2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was clean and comfortable and the location was beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommended.

    Jaap2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place which was accessible (we have a wheelchair user in our group) and yet uniquely Scottish and it was both! It also had a big plus of being a lovely 40 min drive from Edinburgh, and 20 min from Biggar, where we found a picturesque downtown with great country pubs, shops and amazing Indian food/:) Our host was lovely supplying us with tea and great tips and going an extra mile when lightening blitzed TV! While this was a quick 2 day trip for us I would love to come back for a walking holiday.

Delightful large double room with en-suite shower. Quiet location less than a mile from the historical town of Lanark. Located in the Clyde Valley half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh. There is a direct train to Glasgow from Lanark and 3 miles from the property there is a direct train to Edinburgh from Carstairs. New Lanark where Robert Owen made famous the woollen mills on the river Clyde. It’s approximately a 25 min walk and is beautiful. William Wallace was married in Lanark. Lots to do.
    Large conservatory with garden view.

  • Unfortunately we were unable to stay on 17.08.19 and Margaret very kindly offered for us the opportunity to stay at a later date which we were able to on 23.08.19. The only regret we have is had we known how great a host Margaret is and her beautiful house we would have stayed longer if time permitted. To truely benefit Margaret’s hospitality and what the area has to offer with its close proximity to Edinburgh and Glasgow by train, I would recommend a minimum stay of 3 days and we definitely hope stay there again. PS this is the best Air BNB we have stayed in.

    Denise2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A very beautiful room in a wonderful house. A little bathroom but with a large shower. Perfectly clean room. The hosts are really friendly and welcoming (they also gave us a ride in center town for dinner!). Excellent traditional breakfast!

This is a private bedroom with private entry in a house that is part of our charitable Eco Farm estate. The property is located in the historic accessible town of Lesmahagow, which offers excellent transport and cultural links. Travelling by car we are 30 minutes from Glasgow and an hour from Edinburgh, in addition to being 20 minutes from the World Heritage Village in New Lanark.
Vegan/Vegetarian breakfast is available consisting of Porridge, Rice and Dhal that is prepared on the farm. The place is very quiet and offers a chance to relax. We have 8 acres of land which includes a walled garden, two windmills, three greenhouses abd three Alpacas from the Andes. All proceeds go to develop the Eco Farm and to our charitable causes. We invite you to stay and promise you a premium service with a budget prucetag. If you have anyquestions or special requests please get in touch.
Krishna Eco Farm is located in Lesmahagow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Your room is located in a sleepy, historic village which is believed to be founded by Celtic monks in the 6fh century. You will find you have tine to walk, explore and make friend all at your own leisure. The opportunity will be there for you to explore the stunning local countryside. For the more outgoing there is also Strathclyde Country Park which offers fun and activities for all the family, Chatelherault Country Park also has some very beautiful walks. New Lanark World Heritage Centre is also nearby which has a stunning waterfall and offers beautuful walks deep into the valkeys of South Lanarkshire. In addition you will have easy access to Tinto Hill, the biggest hill around, offering great opportunities for hiking. This place also has historical and academic value as Druids used to perform fire sacrifices in this area in years gone by.
  • This is our second time in a week on our return trip from the NC500 road trip. Warm welcome great hospitality, clean and new room, fresh vegetarian breakfast. We were also invited for evening supper which was lovely as we had traveled a long way from Gairloch via Fort William. A very big thank you to all volunteers at the eco farm. I highly recommend this space for a peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings.

  • We had a wonderful stay on route to North coast 500. Very warm welcome. We were also invited for the autumn color festival and offered vegan snacks. Delicious healthy vegan breakfast, clean new fresh room and shower /toilet. Eco farm. Very happy 😊 we're staying here again on our way back. Highly recommend it to solo travelers, couples, families. Beautiful place if you like calm peaceful stay.

    Renny2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful setting and what a friendly welcome. I was only stopping over for a night but I was warmly welcomed, invited to explore the grounds and invited to join everyone for dinner. I'll definitely be back.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and i loved it. A religious tone was certainly there, but in a free and optional way. Great place and friendly people! Would recommend :-)

    Jurgen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very unusual b and b. It's located in a Hari Krishna complex overlooking Lesmahago. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. However, if you are not vegan you need to bring your own milk and tea if you want an early morning cuppa. The vegan breakfast, served up the hill in the communal dining room was delicious. Be prepared to take your shoes off and wash your hands prior to eating as in India. There is much to see: a meditation temple and gardens and allotments. The place is very peaceful and the town of Lesmahago has places to eat if you need an evening meal . We were made very welcome by our host , Johnnie.

    Sanjiv2019-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • First experience using AirBnB, Jeff was a great host in a lovely clean home - even came to pick me up when I got lost on my way to the property! Highly recommend if you are in the area!

  • Jeff is a wonderful host, his home is immaculate, spotlessly clean and warm; which was very welcome, as the weather was not, there was a wonderful array of options for breakfast and if I ever come back to this area again, I will not look anywhere else and have already recommended Jeff to several friends who were staying near by and not having such a great time. Keep it up Jeff, and thank you once again.

For the more adventurous take a trip to Edinburgh and Glasgow, both only 30-40 mins away on the train. Nearby the historic towns of Biggar and Lanark are only 15min drive away.
  • We had an excellent stay at Ian's place in Carnwath. It's a lovely cottage with so many nice touches in a great village. Would certainly stay again.

  • Positives - gorgeous and comfortable home from home, cosy beds, excellent facilities in bathroom and kitchen and lounge and dining room are comfortable and relaxing Negatives - really not too many! Main road so parking is a little tricky and it’s a fast road so watch if you have little ones and the front door is dirty because of it. (Ian and Kat can’t change this stuff just FYI for anyone booking!) We loved our stay and found everything that we needed easily and the host communicated fast and clearly with me. Will definitely book again!

Rob and Rosie helped in any way they could and were so welcoming and accommodating. The place is great, the animals are all cute and Rob and Rosie have become life long friends. Could not recommend this place more. Location was great, close to shops and only 1 train ride away from Glasgow/Edinburgh. We had a blast. 🥰

We had been on a trip around Scotland & Claire’s was our last stop for a night before heading home so we really needed that comfy bed. Claire provided a cot & added bedding for our little boy too which was so lovely. He slept better than he had the whole week as well. At breakfast we were invited into Claire’s dining room which is a very grand place to have the lovely cereals she provided. She also cooked up some lovely porridge for our boy. Thanks Claire

  • This was one of the best self-catering places I've stayed in, and I've stayed in dozens! Absolutely spotlessly clean, modern, well appointed with thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge plus the basics in the cupboard like salt, pepper, vinegar etc. Absolutely brilliant contact with Sue and she very kindly let me get in early as I arrived in the morning on the night train. First class all round, thoroughly recommended.

Self-built in July 2018 this traditional style Shepherd's Hut faces a beautiful organic flower and veg garden, surrounded by trees. Private outhouse with hot shower / separate WC. Outdoor seating. *No 240V Mains Power Close to historic market town of Biggar, River Clyde, and Culter Fell hill. Cornhill Castle 2 mins. Dawyck Botanic Gardens and Stobo Castle Spa are 20 minutes by car. Edinburgh 40 mins, Glasgow 50mins. We can provide an organic Continental breakfast - £5 pp on request
This is a bright, clean, comfortable and compact space. Ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers on a budget. We provide B&B style catering, fresh towels, bed linen, kindling and logs for the wood-burning stove. There is no mains power in the hut (low current USB power for mobiles available via solar battery in hut) but we are happy to charge laptops or tablets overnight in the main house. There are no cooking facilities with the stove other than kettle boiling and croissant toasting! The outdoor WC has a cold water tap only but the Shower Room is gas heated hot water
We are situated next to the A702 between Biggar and Coulter, road noise is audible from the location at busy times of the day but the Hut has double glazed windows and traffic is light after 7pm.
  • Lovely, peaceful and simple - all you need to get away from the city life for a while

    Karolina2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little retreat - perfect for couples who are looking for peace and quiet! Definitely will be staying here again 👍

    Maxim2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous wee hut, cosy and clean. We used it as a crash pad for a nearby wedding, but you could imagine a few nights here being a complete tonic for life's stresses. Great hosts too. Can't fault it.

  • We had a lovely stay at the gardeners hut. Very cosy in a beautiful landscape. Merlin was a great host. Replied very quickly and had some good recommondations of what to do in the neighbourhood.

  • Lovely and well set up.

    Kay2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and loved every minute of it! The fire kept us super toasty, and never once felt cold, despite it being freezing outside. The interior of the hut and outdoor shower room are unique and really lovely and was way beyond our expectations! Upon arrival, Merlin filled us in on the area and we enjoyed the great suggestions for dinner. Definitely want to visit again!

  • Absolutely loved our stay in the Shepherd’s Hut. A cosy and comfortable space which was thoughtfully equipped and finished to a lovely standard. The shower and stove were hot and kept us warm despite snowy December weather. Merlin was close to hand and was kind and helpful when we needed some extra kindling and even left us a Christmas wreath on the door. We most enjoyed our wintery hill walk at Coulter Fell and the local fish and chip shop. Will be recommending to friends and family and planning our return trip in spring!

    Kate2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay in the shepherd’s hut and wish I could have stayed for longer than one night. I was worried it might be a bit cold in the middle of December but the little wood burning stove kept it toasty warm. Would gladly stay again.

With less than an hour to many urban centers, it was ideal for day trips to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the south. They included many homey touches which made it just as comfortable as home.

It’s a caravan park with 15 (+/-) caravans and an office. The staff was very friendly and helpful and on our departure we met Christelle. We would stay here again.

  • Although the park isn't fully up and running you get the chance to experience a beautiful static caravan surrounded by nature. Sitting with a cup of coffee at dusk and watching a hare hop by a colourful pheasant was an added bonus. New Lanark heritage sight is nearby if wanting a nice walk and tesco 5 minutes down the road.. Would def recommend Christelle as a great host..
