The Hayloft is part of a lovely Georgian farmstead set in lush arable countryside .Its oak beams and pretty interior make it a popular holiday destination. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is close as well as the medieval city of York.
The Hayloft, is on our Georgian farmstead, and has its own private entrance. The Hayloft overlooks the large pond and paddocks, so that our own animals , hens, ducks , sheep and donkeys can be seen as well as the wildlife that regular visits and included herons, canada geese, hedgehogs, owls and once a year some young roe deer in search of food. The hayloft provides a peaceful retreat, all year round.Step into the sitting room and you will be surrounded by atmosphere and comfort.During the day the sun streams through the double doors. Upstairs is the lovely oak beamed double bedroom, and shower room leading off from the bedroom. In the summer, the gardens can be enjoyed, and in the winter snuggle up around the cosy fire. The hayloft has been completely refurbished in November 2017, with new kitchen and shower room, cotton sheets and duvets, and fluffy towels. The hayloft is well equipped for eating in and you will find it a joy to prepare meals and to dine at the antique pine table with views over the pond and paddocks. There is a dishwasher and fridge with small freezer. Or you can dine out at one of the many cosy local village pubs ; visit the elegant spa town of Harrogate; see the historic city of York;enjoy a day at Fountains Abbey and deer park. The living area has a comfy 2 seater sofa and a top range electric stove with real effect flames, with an oak shelf over which is a flat screen wall mounted TV . We are at the gateway to the Yorkshire dales and great walking can be done either from the farm or a short car trip. Our visitors book has lots of ideas for days out.We are pet friendly but please see the house rules for extra charges.
  • We had a lovely stay at The Hayloft! Perfect little break away with our dogs in a gorgeous and secluded area, just what we needed! Plenty of fab dog walks nearby and the land which the Airbnb is on is just beautiful, will definitely be back again.

  • Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Easy to find, and the host provided lots of local and information to help us plan our activities.

  • Fantastic place, very well kept and clean, had a lovely quiet weekend. Recommend visiting Fountains Abbey which is very close by.

  • Angela’s place was idyllic! Such a restful country retreat - cosy little cottage and beautiful grounds with hens and donkeys. Well located for Ripon and attractions of the Dales. Plenty of pubs and places to eat nearby. Would love to stay again sometime!

  • We really loved staying here, the place was cozy and the animals are very friendly

  • A lovely cosy cottage for a relaxing break. Good communication from the owner regarding directions and check-in instructions. Owner was really helpful when there was an issue with the heating and got it sorted straight away. Really useful information book left in the cottage which had loads of recommendations for places to eat. Good location with lots of things to do near by. We would love to return for another visit. Just a tip for anyone using satnav, we used google maps and if you type ‘Hayloft and Barn’ into the search it directed us straight to the cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hayloft. Everything was very well thought out; from the shampoo and conditioner in the shower, to the binder that provided us with an array of places to visit and restaurants to eat at. The property was beautiful and the location was right around the corner from town. Angela was there to greet us upon arrival and was incredibly warm and friendly. The hayloft in itself was warm and homey as well. Angela did an exceptional job and providing the perfect little escape for a weekend get away, would highly recommend a stay at the pottery Lane farm.

The house is very close to the world heritage site at Fountains Abbey. Ripon, just a few minutes away, is a lovely market town with a beautiful cathedral and wonderful market square where every evening you can witness England’s oldest unbroken tradition of the Hornblower ‘closing’ Ripon for the night. Harrogate is just a short drive away with its fabulous clothes boutiques and world famous ‘Betty’s Tearoom’. Also nearby are Ripely Castle with its renowned ice-cream and Pateley Bridge and the gateway into the Yorkshire Dales.
  • Lovely large emaculate 1920's style family home. Very spacious. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. Host kindly gave us tips about where to get a take away from town as all restaurants were closed and kindly provided us with cutlery and lit a fire for us in the sitting room which we had to ourselves. Had a lovely selection of hot beverages with a kettle in our room which was warm and spacious and over looked the stunning front garden pond and surrounding lawns. Had a relaxing stay. Thank you.

  • Tom's place is a beautiful country house providing a perfect getaway for peace and relaxation yet within easy access of Harrogate and Ripon. Our hosts were completely unobtrusive whilst also being available to assist us if required. We spent lovely evenings with a glass of wine in front of a roaring log fire. Absolute bliss.

  • I loved the look of this place on the Air BNB website but pictures can’t do it justice, it’s beautiful! As soon as i arrived i was greeted by Sarah who made me feel very welcome, I had some work to do that evening so she lit a fire for me in the front room and offered tea and coffee. The room was great, very clean and i loved the original decor! I would recommend this gem to anyone that is looking to stay in the area, i will definitely stay again when i’m next that way! Dan

Helen and Richard answered my many questions with prompt reply and even did extra special touches and tasks just to make our stay memorable. We traveled from Norway and USA and Brook house is perfect for its clean and stylish decors , heated floors and fireplace. The stay was more then what we could of asked for a picturesque English countryside experience and we will be coming back when in England.

    Elin2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Martyn’s house is warm and comfortable, much like the hospitality. He has a great way of being entertaining and communicative without being intrusive, always a warm welcome and a smile. It’s a short flat walk into town, and I always found somewhere to park on his street, which is a cul de sac so it’s nice and quiet, I recommend him, but not for the Knitting and stitch, coz I will be there for that !

Our attractive one bed cottage has an outdoor sunken patio kitchen area with charcoal BBQ and a raised decking area. A cosy home from home, with a touch of luxury! Set at the bottom of our garden, but totally self contained with parking for one vehicle. Kirkby Malzeard is a small traditional village set in the Nidderdale AONB. Perfectly placed to be your 'Gateway to the Dales', whilst also conveniently located for visits to Harrogate and York, it's your town & country location rolled into one!
A 'key safe' is located on the outside wall near the Kitchen stable door, for your convenience. There is a secure 'Boot Box', for those dirty items, outside near the wooden garden gate pathway. Our cottage has been recently completely refurbished to a very high standard. It has underfloor heating with Limestone Tiles adorning the Kitchen and Wet-room/Toilet floors and walls. The fully fitted Kitchen is complete with Dishwasher, Washer/tumble-dryer, Fridge-freezer, Ceramic Hob, Microwave, Warming Drawer and a 'hide and slide' Neff Oven', not to forget the necessary Toaster and Kettle! Mood lighting has been installed around the cottage, including a designer pendant light in the Kitchen/Diner creating a cosy atmosphere for dining at the glass topped table. Carpeted stairs lead directly from the Kitchen to the 'loft-style' Bedroom, where we have installed a King Size Bed, a Dressing Table with ample drawers and a Wardrobe hanging space. All of our Bedding is of a high quality, and luxury Robes and Towels are provided during your stay. A Hairdryer and portable Electric Fan, with a wall-mounted TV are also there for your use. (Please note: there is no closing door or child safety-gate fitted to the top or bottom of the stairway which could be a safety issue for young infants on the move!) The cosy carpeted Lounge has a Wood-Burning Stove, but the cottage also has Radiators fitted in every room and heated Towel Rails in both Wet-room and Toilet. Free WiFi is included for the duration of your stay. Please be aware that mobile reception can be intermittent depending on your network. The Lounge has a TV and Sound Bar with a selection of CD's and DVD's and a range of books and games to entertain you! The Lounge Patio Door gives access to the outdoor sunken garden area with BBQ.. The sunken garden also houses an outdoor wood-fired Pizza Oven for your use during summer months. This needs a certain amount of experience to manage - under our direct supervision - which we are happy to provide when we are available and can then pass on our skills! Therefore it's use is by advance arrangement only. For enjoying those summer days there are high topped tables and chairs outside. In addition, folding Garden Chairs are also available for your use and are stored in the Kitchen. We have installed fixed Chains and Locks for your Bike security and waterproof Bike Covers are also provided. Finally, there is a Welcome Folder giving full details of all the cottage facilities and local amenities and also a Visitors Book for all your comments.
Kirkby Malzeard is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with its wonderful and incredibly varied countryside, from the windswept Dallowgill moorland covered in purple heather to the sprawling reservoir valleys of Pateley Bridge; from the stepping stones at Bolton Abbey to the lovely wooded valley from where Yorkshire's own 'Dick Whittington' traveled to become Lord Mayor of London. For those who want excitement and retail therapy a short car ride takes you to Lightwater Valley with the longest roller-coaster in the UK, the Market town of Skipton where you can browse the open-air market, visit the castle and hire a narrowboat to cruise the Aire Valley or Harrogate, an elegant famous Spa Town with it's lovely Valley Gardens and array of high class restaurants and bars, including the famous Betty's Tearooms. York is not too far and has an array of visitor attractions covering Viking, Roman and Medieval history. However you look at it, Thump Cottage is an ideal starting off point to provide you with everything you would want on a holiday.
  • We’d loved staying at David and Janet’s place. It’s a beautiful, spacious cottage, full of lovely touches - we loved Janet’s lemon drizzle cake. Great communication, friendly hosts and idillic location. We couldn’t haven’t asked for anything more. We’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

  • The cottage is luxurious and cozy- especially the log burner! The linen and towels are all lovely and soft, and the kitchen and bathroom seemed like they were brand new. The welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend!

  • What more can we say about this place that hasn’t been said by everyone else that stays here. We didn’t get to meet the hosts but they were incredibly friendly and informative in communication and the cake and birthday beer were fantastic touches. The village is lovely and only 10 minute drive from Ripon. The place itself is beautiful, very clean with games and puzzles provided for rainy days and maps and guides giving lots of information on the area. Had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen with detailed instructions on how to use everything. Really can’t recommend these hosts and this property enough!

  • Beautiful house and room with great hosts. Alison and Richard (and Hector!) were lovely as can be, and made my boyfriend and I feel right at home. Breakfast was outstanding, and booking us a table at the pub was a thoughtful touch. Couldn't be happier!

    Alexandra2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thankyou Alison and Richard (and Hector!) for your warm and welcoming hospitality. Thoughtful extra touches and local tips much appreciated. A peaceful haven and perfect base to explore the North Yorks Moors & Dales. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

    Nina2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alison’s place. She’s a warm, friendly host who made us feel very welcome. The house is stunning, set in a quiet village. When we visited we had our own bathroom, and the room we stayed in was spacious and clean. Alison made us a reservation at the local pub. I’m glad she did as it was very busy and had we just walked in we wouldn’t have been able to get a table. The pub is good value considering the high standard of food served. Breakfast set us up for the day, with lots of nice touches like homemade apple juice and honey. We would love to stay there again. It’s a good base for The Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate.

    Michael2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We found Alison's home to be delightful, with every care taken to make us welcome and comfortable. She also went the extra mile to help with road access in the area as we were there at the time of the World Cycle Racing. The bed was comfortable & having a lounge was a bonus. The breakfast, which is continental, was very varied. Markington has a lovely pub and is in a rural area.

  • Very clean and comfortable, with a lovely breakfast. Alison was a very kind host, and made checking in and out very easy. She went out of her way to ensure I made it to the wedding I was going to, and to the bus stop so I could get home afterwards. Hector the dog was very sweet too!

  • Great place for a few nights, can walk into town in 30min or catch a bus although doesn't come as often. Nice quiet location with a few shops in the area. The room is comfortable and clean with the extra bonus of kettle, water, tea/coffee and a snack! Jean was welcoming and super responsive to messages when I had to find a place to stay last minute. Would recommend this place :)

  • Jean is amazing. I have stayed here twice and each time it was marvellous. The accommodation is excellent as described and Jean helped me out enormously with some small details that made my trip possible. I would not hesitate to recommend and look forward to staying once again. Thanks Jean

    Jonathan2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at Jean’s place 3 times this month. The standard has not dropped. I would say she kept improving. Her room is a lovely place to stay in with everything you need inside. She has two lovely dogs. Cleans toilets and bathroom. It’s not too bad getting into town there is a bus stop just outside the house. There is free street parking with access to local shops and Chinese take away. Good value for money.

  • Jean is a great host and the room itself is very pleasant and cozy. Jean also provided a tea / coffee / snacks tray which gave me a nice " self contained " feeling. She also recommended Dougie's Fish Bar around the corner which served me the biggest fish portion I've ever seen !!. I can certainly recommend Jean's place.

Our unique location allows time to enjoy the countryside around us and enjoy rambles such as the Mosaic Trail. There is a pub in the village, an excellent butchers shop, fish & chip shop, plus general store for newspapers etc.
  • This cottage is so wonderful. There are so many nice touches that made us feel at home and comfortable. The fire is great after a days walking, the kitchen facilities are perfect and the local shop and butchers are great for everything you could need. The owners gave us advice and help about walks and printed maps which was a really nice touch. Friendly and hospitable people who clearly care about what they are doing. Would recommend this cottage to anyone as offers comfort and a wonderful location for walks and the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

  • We had a great couple of days staying here. It has everything you need and more! The location is great for exploring the dales. We would 100% recommend that you stay here. Fiona was a great host and even made freshly baked scones for our arrival. We really loved staying here and would definitly return!

  • A perfect stay at a lovely little cottage - topped off with great hosts, thank you Fiona and Nigel!

  • Outstanding! Had the best time during our 3 day New Years Stay at Woodpeckers Cottage. It is truly a home from home with every comfort considered and spotlessly clean. I couldn't think if a single thing that any guest could need that wasn't included. Fiona & Nigel have thought of everything. The homemade mince pies and cake was a lovely welcoming touch as well as the many additional extras in the kitchen incl milk, butter, condiments, oil, fresh eggs, tea, coffee etc. Add to that a cosy log burner, Netflicks on TV, comfy bed, near to many fabulous locations with hosts that go the extra mile for their guests. What else could anyone want? We could not recommend Woodpecker Cottage too highly and will definately be returning!

    Gary2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here - Fiona's cottage is a beautiful, cosy space for a couple to stay. She had left us some christmas cake, mince pies and tea ready for when we arrived, which was such a nice way to arrive. Thank you!

  • Lovely quirky little AirBnB, a really old building with wonky floors, low ceilings and uneven stairs! Brilliant situation with the centre of Ripon on the doorstep. The parking space round the back meant that after we had arrived we never even moved the car.

  • Fabulous flat hosted by two wonderful people! Great location and perfectly clean.

    Kimberly2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was lovely. Really nice character across the 3 floors, and plenty of space. It was all very new and sparkling clean. Linda was very helpful and friendly and she met me to show me round. She even made sure to leave an emergency lamp and showed me where the fuse box was incase the storm cut the power as potentially forecast. I slept great, and the rain hitting the floor in the loft conversion didn't even disturb me.

    Jasmine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was in a perfect location with private parking. Five minutes' walk to good pubs restaurants and cafes. The place was very cozy and warm and the bed was so comfy. It had a great shower and everything you could possibly need for a good holiday. The area also has a great atmosphere. Shame we couldn't stay longer but definitely on the cards for the future.

  • Lovely little gem in the middle of Ripon.

    Rowan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charming & quirky cottage bang in the centre of historic Ripon. We were met by Del who reccomended a lovely pub, restaurants and a walk around the city. The cottage is lovely and recently re-furbished and the bed is very comfortable. A point to note are that the stairs are very steep, not surprising for a house this age but less able people would find this difficult, there is also some noise from the road which may be an issue for the light sleeper but I slept like a log. We loved our stay and throughly reccomend Linda & Del's cottage.

  • Jane is a first class host. Very friendly and quick to respond to requests/questions both before and during my stay. The bungalow is a fantastic space. Very clean and well maintained. Two very good size bedrooms a modern kitchen with all the utensils you'll need (there is also a washing machine in the conservatory which forms paet of the entrance to the bungalow). The lounge/dining area offers a more cottage like cozy feel with comfy chairs and a log burner, which works very well. You can park directly next to the property. There are great views to be had from the shingle garden and the stars are easily seen on a clear night as there is little light contamination. Its quite rural so a car is essential if you want to pop to the shops. I would not hestiate to stay here again. Its a great base from which to explore the sights and sounds that Yorkshire has to offer. Highly recommended.

  • Somewhat new to Air B &B but found Philippa's hospitality exceptional. We were suffering jet lag and she made our one night visit so welcoming.

    Maureen2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Three friends arrived by bicycle at Phillipa’s after a long and very damp day in the hills. Uncertain arrival time wasn’t an issue and Phillipa kindly offered to wash our kit ready for the next day-ideal for touring cyclists with minimal packing. Breakfast was good and set us up for the next day. Location was ideal with a short walk to town and its bars and restaurants

  • Phillipa was certainly a super-host, contacting me before my stay with useful information, welcoming me warmly on my arrival, and very kindly accompanying me on my first walk into Ripon in order to show me the pleasant route along the canal path. She provided healthy and delicious breakfasts, featuring excellent coffee and freshly-prepared fruit salads. I very much enjoyed our conversations, and will certainly be back next time I visit Ripon!

  • Accurately described and a great location for its proximity to central Ripon and more widely for this beautiful part of Yorkshire. Tempted to say it should remain a well-kept secret, but then you would miss out on the comfort and generosity of Phillipa’s hosting. A truly great ambassador for Ripon and the wider area.

    Helen2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Phillipa was an excellent host - we enjoyed tea with delicious cake on arrival, delicious breakfasts, very comfortable rooms and lots of useful information and guidance.

    Helen2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Phillipa was an outstanding host and could not do enough to help us out. Phillipa was very accommodating and welcomed us into her lovely home whilst keeping great communication through out. It made our work trip much easier and took the stress out of having to stay in a hotel. We will definitely be visiting again should work bring us up that way. Her genuine friendliness shone through and I slept better there than I do at home. Once again thank you Phillipa for a great stay and for helping us out.

    Ripon, England, United Kingdom

Located on the cusp of iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site Fountains Abbey and a short walk away from the historic cathedral City of Ripon, our 150 year-old cosy, characterful cottage is an ideal base to explore these unique surroundings. Our cute, quiet village is also a short drive away from the pretty market towns of Masham, Bedale and Pateley Bridge and the spa town of Harrogate. We'd love to make this an idyllic and relaxing escape for you. We hope to see you soon at Bumblebee Cottage!
Our cottage is split into two areas: the original 1800s cottage and the contemporary living space. You'll be staying in the main cottage, which includes a master bedroom for two (with a view!), and a large bathroom . The cosy lounge is also part of the old cottage, which you are welcome to use to unwind in front of the log fire with a glass of Yorkshire wine! And of course (weather permitting!) please do make use of our lovely garden. We also share our space with an adorable cockapoo called Gracie. She can be as out of your way as you prefer. Visiting dogs are very welcome.
You really can't stay any closer to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens & Deer Park. We're right on the doorstep! (Our cottage used to be where they'd keep the horses for the estate!) Ripon City is a 25 minute walk away, or a short drive. It's got an excellent Thursday market, various museums and of course the stunning Cathedral. It also has a great range of places to eat and some lovely traditional Yorkshire pubs. Our little village of Studley Roger is very small and quiet. There's no shops or pubs but our closest cafe is on the lake in the Deer Park, for a quick butty, coffee and cake.
  • Lovely house in a brilliant location. Hosts couldn't do enough from responding to messages, easy check in and anything they could do to help with our trip. Thank you!

  • I booked this stay for my Mum's birthday as my parents are avid Park Runners. This cottage is literally a 5 minute walk from the Fountains Abbey Park Run start line so was ideal! My mum and dad said that they had a really lovely time at the cottage. They arrived late-ish on the Friday night and shared a glass of wine with the hosts to unwind after the drive. They said that they felt totally at home and found everything to be super clean and comfortable. Their only regret is that they didn't book to stay another night after the Park Run! They'll just have to go back again :)

    Ruth2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and well decorated place with great views! A lovely breakfast was offered and the hosts were extremely accommodating.

  • It is a great place to stay offering convenience of short drive to the Ripon town, yet embedded in a beautiful countryside next to the Fountain's Abbey. Nice period cottage with great walks around (Deer Park) and short distance from the local attractions. The Hosts are truly lovely people. Highly recommended.

You are welcome to stay in our comfortable, double en-suite flat (attached to our family home) with adjoining conservatory for your exclusive use during your stay. The conservatory opens onto a private family garden with seating areas and a sheltered deck. There are local amenities, Aldi being 2 minutes walk, and we are a 20 minute walk from Harrogate town centre. There is space for parking in our enclosed front yard. There is a TV in both the bedroom and conservatory.
This is a relaxing space: the en-suite bedroom is brand new, fresh and tasteful. The conservatory is light and airy- it’s our favourite place to chill as a family when we have no guests.
We’re on the outskirts of town, 30 minutes drive from Skipton, 20 minutes from Ripon, and 25 minutes from Pateley Bridge. The lovely village of Ripley is 10 minutes drive away, where you can visit the castle, gardens and enjoy world famous Ripley ice cream. Brimham Rocks is close by and worth a visit, Fewston Reservoir is 15 minutes away, and the market town of Otley is a 25 minute drive through the countryside.

Everything you need for a short stay is catered for and it's a great location just outside the centre to explore Harrogate and the areas surrounding such as Ripley, Fountains Abbey etc. I stayed with my 8 month old baby girl and it was comfortable for us both. Was lovely to meet you all briefly and have a lovely Christmas!

  • Amazing place. Done to a very high standard. Perfectly clean. Close to all the dales walks you could imagine. In a quiet little village, but close enough to other bigger places. Nice and cosy, but still spacious enough. Hosts were very nice. Welcomed us with a few things, and then left us to it. Perfect.

I have enjoyed staying here a number if times as it has everything you need for a night or longer stay neatly contained in the cottage. Plenty of leaflets for suggestions of where to visit, breakfast box & tea, & extra little touches like the occasional home made edible treat or flower display. Flexible, helpful & thoughtful host.

    Diane2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage in the countryside, the kitchen is small but had everything we needed. It was absolutely freezing when we stayed but the cottage was nice and warm and it was very relaxing having the electric fire on in the bedroom looking out at the frost outside. Really lovely little cottage, if you're looking for somewhere rural and relatively secluded but not too far away from the lovely little towns of Harrogate or Ripon then this is a perfect choice.

Recently refurbished, this cosy and well-lit apartment is based in the heart of Ripon. A stone's throw away from the city centre, with access to all local amenities, this property is the perfect city getaway in the middle of North Yorkshire's countryside. Cathedral View is a lovely modern apartment, in the Borough of Harrogate, which has been newly renovated to a high standard with modern furnishings and chic interiors. There are 2 double bedrooms, one can be made up as a double or 2 singles.
The apartment is light filled and airy making it a great place to relax when you are not out and about exploring. The open plan living area, with log wood burner and smart tv with Netflix, with a brand new open plan kitchen with dining table. The bathroom has a large bath tub, with shower facilities. Recently refurbished, all upholstery & appliances are brand new and chosen especially for the property to suit guests requirements.
The beautiful cathedral city of Ripon is one of the oldest cities in England, and one of the country''s smallest. It’s strategic rural location makes it the ideal cottage holiday location; close to the famous Yorkshire Dales, stunning Nidderdale and the lovely spa town of Harrogate. The city is centred around Market Square, around which there’s a wide range of speciality shops, cafes, restaurants and traditional pubs. This unspoilt cathedral city is a North Yorkshire gem, balancing a rich cultural heritage with exciting contemporary living. With its imposing cathedral, fascinating museums and a bustling market square, there is plenty to entertain the visitor. And skip just 10 miles in any direction and you'll discover a wealth of first class visitor attractions in the surrounding beautiful Dales countryside. Daniel Defoe described Ripon Market Square as 'the finest and most beautiful square that is to be seen of its kind in England'. Today the square remains the heart and soul of Ripon, proudly retaining its tradition of the hornblower who can be found 'setting the watch' every evening around 9pm - a delightful example of this city's ancient charm. When it comes to location, Ripon has it all. Easily accessible from the A1(M), it has a privileged aspect right in between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorks Moors. As well as being the gateway to beautiful countryside, Fountains Abbey and Studely Royal - Yorkshire's first World Heritage Site - is right on its doorstep, and it's a mere 10 miles from Ripley Castle and the exciting the Lightwater Valley theme park. The jewel in Ripon's crown must surely be the 7th Century Ripon Cathedral. Dominating the city's skyline, this magnificent building is totally inspiring. It provides sanctuary on a rainy day and is a beautiful focal point as you stroll the city's streets and relax in one of many award-winning cafés.
  • Fantastic stay at Victoria's place. Great modern and clean flat in a convenient location situated in the centre of Ripon. We were welcomed with a hamper full of gifts which was a nice way to start our weekend away. Would highly recommend and stay again if in the area.

  • I can’t fault Martin or his accommodation in any respect. The house was clean, cosy and so conveniently situated to walk into town. Martyn was a great host, I was there for the full 9 days of the UCI World Road Racing Championship and Martyn was so helpful and considerate, giving good advice about travel and even gave me a lift into town on my last day volunteering to save me from having to walk in the pouring rain. I would have no hesitation in recommending Martyn’s place!
