Places to stay in Marlboro
Our place is within easy reach of Mt Snow, Carinthia, Marlboro College, and the super sweet town of Brattleboro. The 2-level apartment is entirely private and self-contained. Bonus offerings include an abundance of fresh country air and proximity to miles of woods trails. It's ideal for couples, solo travelers, and it's pet-friendly too. A short walk through the woods brings you to a spring-fed lake that is quiet and pristine. Winter, spring, summer, fall. Each season has its own magic.
The barn apartment can also be described as a well-appointed cabin. It's a timber-frame, stand-alone building, with lots of windows and natural light. Full kitchen, queen-size bed, and bathroom (shower, no tub). Snowshoes available for winter use.
-Best Grocer: Brattleboro Coop -Best Coffee: Mocha Joe's -Best Dinner: TJ Buckley's -Best Lunch: Yalla VT -Best Beweries: McNeill’s, Hermit Thrush & the Whetstone
  • We had such a great time at Raphael's farm. The place is a perfect getaway. There was everything we needed in the kitchen to cook some great dinners, and it's only 15 min away from Downtown Brattleboro if you want to hit a brewery or restaurant. Raphael had some great recommendations for hiking nearby and the whole area is very dog friendly!

  • We always love getaways to Vermont and this one did not disappoint. We loved that there were live animals on the property. The roads are pretty rugged but around this time a year my AWD car did just fine. Raph is a pleasant host and is very friendly. I recommend stoping at Hermit Thrush if you’re a sour beer lover like we are! The Beer Naked brewery is always a must stop. We went to Kipling’s Irish Pub for dinner and I would not recommend that. We did find a lot of places are cash only so make sure you’re properly prepared with cash to spend.

  • Perfectly clean, quiet, and surrounded by nature.

    Jacob2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place! The only hang up, which won’t matter for me or most, the shower is super tight. If you’re a wider person you may find it uncomfortable. Being 5’4 and 135 (ish.. when I’m behaving..) lbs I could still feel it was cramped. Another thing which didn’t effect us but might effect others is that the bedroom and bathroom are both up some steep stairs. If you’re mobile it won’t be an issue, but worth pointing out for those with back/hip/knee concerns. We loved our stay and cannot wait to hopefully return! Thanks Raphael!

    Amanda2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying here. Just as good as last time! Off the grid enough but also close enough to downtown Brattleboro. All of Raphael's suggestions for restaurants, coffee, groceries, are spot on! TJ Buckley's is by far our favorite restaurant there. We didn't go to Mount Snow for snowboarding this time, but it isn't far! I'm sure we'll be back.

  • The barn was great! Perfect size for our three person group and pup. Everything we could have wanted was provided and the space itself was super charming. Make sure you have good tires or an all-wheel drive vehicle though, the local roads can be slippery.

This handsome 1803 farm house is the perfect balance between beautifully fixed up and well lived in. Welcoming, authentic, and whimsical, it is a visit into a simpler time. Set in a field overlooking orchards and berry patches, with mountain views beyond, it is the ideal spot for retreats of any kind, a home base for exploration of southern Vermont, and the opportunity to stay in a family oriented neighborhood of farmers, woodworkers, writers, and artists.
This house and land is the homestead of the late Margaret and John MacArthur. A world renowned folk musician and a brilliant science professor, respectively, they devoted their lives to creating a home to raise their children in, and a perfect place to pursue their passions. Instruments, resource books, creativite decor, gardens... these are all integral to the space. The queen bed room is on the main floor, adjacent to the small, charming bathroom, tiled in Mexican tiles. The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs, (it is cooler upstairs so we keep down comforters on each bed), and share a lovely bath tiled in mexican tiles, with a pink heart shaped bathtub. There is a sit-down, hand held shower for the tub. The kitchen has a stunning view out to Stratton Mountain from the table. In addition to the regular appliances in the kitchen there is a coffee maker, with coffee and tea provided. There is no microwave. The well water is filtered and fabulous for drinking and cooking. The house is full of family treasures and heirlooms and we trust they will be respected and well treated. Although it is well insulated and heated, it is worth having a supply of warm clothes in the colder months- and plan on using fans for sleeping in hot weather, for the house is, after all, well over 200 years old!
Great walking, snowshoeing, and cross county skiing is available from the house and there are lakes nearby for kayaking or canoeing. There is a 3 season farm stand just down the road with organic produce available, as well as PYO organic berries. There are several dogs in the neighborhood- all well behaved and kind. The house is on a well maintained dirt road, with the occasional passersby. We do recommend AWD for winter travel.
  • house was amazing very different from other places i’ve stayed at, very roomy alot of cool little antiques and nic nacs 10/10 would recommend if you’re staying in the area

  • Megan is a wonderful host with an incredible historical house. The home is lovely, warm, and the perfect Vermont getaway.

    Rebecca2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • You really get a touch of the country with this place. As long as you go into your stay expecting a rustic country experience, you will be delighted. This warm and historic home was great for our family visiting the area for the holidays. Beautiful setting, and Megan even set up a Christmas tree for us. We would love to stay there again.

  • Alice was helpful and quick to respond to the questions I had before booking, and the cottage itself was great! It was a bit bigger than I expected, very charming and clean, had some nice views, and a good location.

    Kevin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, simple, clean, cozy space. Four friends and I went here for a little winter retreat and had the best time. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, relaxed by the gas fireplace, went into Brattleboro to shop and eat at a great vegan restaurant (Superfresh), and cross-country skied at Brattleboro Outing Club (not far from the cabin)!

    Emily2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Alice’s place is perfect! A stunning rural location and relaxing, serene, beautiful cabin that feels cozy but not cramped at all. My friends and I had a wonderful time. Snow tires are a must for winter!

    Jordana2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little light-filled cabin. We very much appreciated the cabin’s simplicity and well stocked kitchen. The cabin was very private, quiet and serene. The gas fireplace made it cozy and warm, just what we wanted.

    Rachel2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place was very relaxing and peaceful. My husband and I had a great time. We cooked most of our meals at the cabin, and we had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and warm. The gas fireplace was also nice.

    Shauna2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful older home. We had a front wheel drive rental with questionable tires and had a hard time when it snowed. Bring a 4x4 or something with snow tires in the winter. The house is so cozy and the sunrise is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. Bring a smart tv, the internet seems to be sufficient for streaming.

  • Will and tinas place was beyond my expectation of what I thought. Everything about it was the definition of Vermont charm. The views, especially the sunrises were incredible. It is close to town but where you are located feels like you are really off the beaten path. The only real noise you hear is the wildlife surrounding this space. There is such stillness here. The space was extremely cozy clean had a ton of space and natural light. I came up here to write and usually I’m not a big fan of being indoors but I found that I actually enjoyed it feeling a sense of inspiration as I sat at the table and looked out of the huge window at the mountains. I only spoke with Tina and will briefly but they were very kind and attentive. I will most definitely be staying here again. Patrick

    Patrick2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Shakespeare's Folly is a little slice of heaven. The views are stunning and the area is quiet and tranquil. The apartment has plenty of space and was sparkling clean when we arrived. Will and Tina were very friendly and easy to communicate with during our stay. There were even farm fresh eggs in the fridge for us when we arrived! Brattleboro is a short drive away with lots of cute shops and great restaurants. This is a great spot if you are looking for a quiet retreat. As one previous guest did mention, the road up to their place is a rural dirt and gravel road. We were in a pickup truck so we didn't have too much trouble but if you're visiting in challenging weather I would recommend a car with 4WD. I would absolutely return to Shakespeare's Folly for another stay.

    Hope2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for a VT weekend getaway. We got to meet their friendly pups and we were a short drive away from downtown Brattleboro and Mt. Snow. The view from the front porch is worth it alone. Thanks again, Will!

    Chris2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great stay! Will and Tina were great hosts. We had a ski lesson with Will, which was great! We definitely felt much more confident on the mountain after the lesson. The place was great! Everything we needed was there and the fresh eggs were a nice bonus! We loved being greeted by the dogs. The view was beautiful and the sunrises made getting up early to ski enjoyable. We will definitely be back!!

    Humair2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Will’s place was fantastic. Perfect for a quiet get away. The dogs are awesome and farm fresh eggs for breakfast really hit the spot! Will definitely be visiting again.

    William2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very cozy and had all the amenities you could think of. It was a beautiful home situated in the hills- you could see mountains from the deck and although the town was only a short drive away it felt nice and isolated. The host was very welcoming and was kind enough to give us some fresh eggs. There’s also a very sweet farm dog deserving of many pets. I would only make sure that you have a vehicle that can drive on inclined dirt roads especially if you come during the winter. My partner and I had an amazing stay

    Mali2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay, amazing hospitality, everything about this stay was magical! Thanks!

    Liana2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Will and Tina’s place, it is very comfortable and warm and they are perfect hosts! And their animals are an absolute love! Moreover, Will is a professional ski instructor so we took a couple of lessons which were a great fun and useful experience! Thank you many times! Next time we are in Vermont, Mount Snow, we would be glad to stay at your place again!

  • Rosalind’s place is beautiful! The apartment was perfect, and we especially loved the luxurious king bed :) Rosalind was great. We would definitely come back!

    Britta2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Rosalind’s barn cabin for a little under a week, and my dog Brewster and I had a great stay filled with hiking and snowboarding, the dog only participating in the former. The cabin is private and the welcoming landscape accompanied the living space. Just as welcoming were Rosalind and Robert and their dogs who greeted with tails wagging. We did a few cool walks. The walk through Newfane town and up to the cemetary, through the stone wall, and around the pond was very scenic, and i’m happy i got to see all of it. We also did a hike in Townshend State Park, along the snowy trail which ran beside the creek. A sight to behold. Just above the state park there is a Jamaican food truck in the parking lot of a glass art gallery. I had some delightful jerk 🐔 there. Stratton is a great mountain resort for 🎿/🏂 and has a superb village and some of Vermont's nicest runs, at least in my somewhat limited experience. Can’t go wrong with this cabin 👌🏻

  • Theo was very communicative and the cabin was great. Loved being right in the middle of the forest. Very quiet and peaceful.

    Eileen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our fifth (I think) time staying at the Writer's Retreat. It was a terrific stay, and a perfect weekend to explore the southern Vermont countryside - mid-October, the peak of leaf peeping season :) While rustic, it was comfortable to us and warm, despite the chilly low 40's temperatures outside at night. The bed is very comfortable and we slept well. It's very quiet except for the sounds of the woods at night - didn't hear owls this time, but we often do. Know that the bath and kitchen are very basic - hotplates, a toaster oven and small refrigerator, which was fine for our needs. Theo is a great host, and is very kind, and goes out of his way to accommodate. The location is outstanding. The house is very close to Marlboro College, off the beaten path from busy Route 9 to Brattleboro, but close enough to get to what Brattleboro and Wilmington have to offer, including the excellent farmers market in Brattleboro on Saturdays. It's also a great base from which to go hiking, either nearby or just a little further north around Stratton, Dover, Jamaica or Putney. I'd recommend this airbnb listing to anyone! We'll surely be staying here again.

    Jeff2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for somewhere for a quick getaway, and don't mind something a little more on the spartan side, this is a great choice. Sized right for one person, easy to get to, and beautiful setting.

    Eric2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The area is gorgeous. The cabin is small but has everything that a person needs who is looking for quiet and peaceful simplicity. The only thing I'll recommend is the stairs to the bedroom are steep and spiral. They require some agility. If you have mobility issues this might not be the choice. But theo was very kind. The space was clean and the property was just what I needed to recharge. Unplugging helped as well.

    Patricia2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a pleasure it was to sleep rustically in the deep quiet of Moss Hollow, surrounded tightly by forest with a deep gash of stars in the circular opening in the canopy above the cabin. The bed was firm but comfortable, and there was plenty of space. This place will appeal to those who love camping and the outdoors. It has everything you need, but without fuss or luxury. I loved it! And it was directly adjacent to the Marlboro Music Festival.

    Drew2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place to unplug- and we got it!

    Ninoy2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, peaceful cabin in the woods! It's very quiet and feels really private even though you're not too far from Theo's house. The woodland surrounding the cabin is stunning and the cabin is beautifully built. Theo was a great host and even gave us some Vermont maple syrup as a souvenir from our stay! It's quite rustic and simple inside but this was perfect for us as our priority was being surrounded by nature. It's convenient to access walking trails in the Green Mountain park and there are some really nice smalls towns that are a short drive away. Thanks Theo - we had a really great time!

Quiet, romantic and funkily unique. Please read all details for listing before booking. It's a one room cabin separate from main house. You have access to our dock for swimming, boating- there is a double kayak for you to use. Please ask if you want to use singles. Beautiful trails and roads for walking, hiking, biking. Wilmington is just 5 minutes away with restaurants, grocery, galleries. West Dover has a movie theater. Great star gazing.
Fun space with great views. Close to lake and trail networks. Bed is eco-friendly and very firm with a 3 inch memory foam topper. The insulated cabin is comfortably heated with propane stove when cold and fans to cool in summer. Outdoor kitchen set up with sink, frig, microwave and propane stove. Propane grill and fire pit on patio can be used. Internet can be spotty- works best on deck or patio. There is an outdoor hot shower or you can use indoor shower on 2nd floor, which are both shared with us. It's a short walk to bathroom in main house, but may not be appropriate for those needing closer access. We do not use it and rarely will anyone else be using that bathroom. We hope to have the incinerating toilet, which is attached to cabin, back up and running in the near future.
The lake is wonderful for swimming, boating and there are many trails and dirt roads for walking, hiking, running or biking. Maps are in studio. Hearing the loons and the owls is a treat. Many activities, festivals in Deerfield Valley year round. Peaceful surroundings and beautiful gardens. Wilmington is only a couple of miles from studio. Movie theater in West Dover (10 min).

  • Dan’s farmhouse was the perfect romantic winter getaway. It offered everything you could expect from the cozy and warm setting of a family farmhouse to a fire going in the wood stove to the sprawling hills and pine trees of the property. It had the perfect home away from home feel. Meeting Dan and seeing his love for this place added the finishing touches along with the dozens of beautiful photos showing all the years and generations of love and family throughout the home. An essential and classic New England experience to the fullest. Can’t wait to go back!

Our stylish Studio, a not so tiny Tiny House, is nestled into the Southern Vermont hillside and surrounded by nature. Enjoy the view from the deck, and cozy up in the newly renovated hay barn with a cup of coffee or tea and a great book. The Studio welcomes well-mannered dogs. Efficiency kitchen and dining area, cozy living space. It features a bedroom with linens, a single bed that can be transformed into king-size, a full bathroom, and a large covered porch overlooking fields and trees.
Winter fun is close by! Cross-country ski and snowmobile paths within minutes from The Studio. Mt. Snow is only 14 miles up the road!
This serene spot is conveniently located off rt.9, close to hiking trails, swimming ponds, galleries, shops, and restaurants in Brattleboro, Wilmington, and surrounding areas.
  • I wish we were able to stay longer at this wonderfully cute and cozy place! Nicole and David both go above and beyond to make the stay an incredible experience. Our original plans were hindered by poor weather and they both were understanding and accommodating in our need to change dates. Once we we had the time off again Nicole was so helpful in setting everything up and providing all the info we needed. The place had everything we could even need in relaxing around with the dogs, making our own meals while watching the snow fall and listening to some tunes. (Nicole even stopped by to drop off a strainer for us after we mentioned cooking pasta!!) The location is nestled in close proximity to breweries, hikes, restaurants and shops to explore while still giving you the privacy and experience of being away in nature. All around wonderful experience and highly recommend!

  • Loved this place!!! My husband and our two dogs stayed for the weekend. Great location, fenced in yard, and such great hosts. Recommend!

    Catherine2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn’t recommend The Studio more! It is the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway for couples and their dog. David & Nicole were so kind and thoughtful, they truly did go above and beyond making the tiny house into a home. Thirty minutes from Mount Snow, great eateries and brewery’s nearby, and a straightforward drive from NYC. We can’t wait to come back!

  • This is a sweet little getaway between Brattleboro and Wilmington. The place is immaculate and cozy and Nicole and David were conscientious hosts!

    Sarah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great for a quick ski weekend with my husband and dog. The fenced in yard made this super convenient and there were so many thoughtful touches! It is small but has everything you may need. Would love to come back and enjoy in the summer so we can take advantage of the cute deck!

    Meagan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was the perfect place for three friends to stay during a weekend ski getaway. The barn is situated on Nicole’s property away from the main house and is very private and cozy. We really appreciated small touch of eggs, English muffins, and coffee so we could quickly hit the slopes in the morning! The studio is adorable and so clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this to anybody looking to spend a secluded weekend in southern Vermont. Thanks again for having us! Staying at your place was a highlight of our trip!

    Faith2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is "glamping" at its finest!!  All of the country charm, but with amazing style and comfort.  The space is brand new and has everything you could need for your stay, plus the fenced in yard is amazing if you bring your dog!!  We found it to be perfectly warm and cozy after skiing and hiking in the cold and perfectly located to do both of those things.  It was also great to meet Nicole & David, which is a personal touch not all ABBs offer!

    Elise2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! Awesome pizza/brewery and distillery down the road like 2 miles that are both doggo friendly! Plus there’s hiking trails close by! And town was only like a 10 min drive if that! Super cozy home and even a fenced in yard! We loved it and the yard helped our pup stay active and not get cooped up indoors! There were so many thoughtful touches and we had a fantastic time! Plus Nicole and her hubs were available for whatever you need with quick responses and such nice people!

    Adam2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Ruth for two nights. The location was only 25 min from Mount Snow Ski resort and the mountain view was great. The barn was sparkling clean. Ruth even left snacks in the kitchen. I would highly recommend staying at the barn.

    Cody2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Sugar Barn was quaint, clean, and accommodating. Ruth was quick to respond to messages and gave great suggestions for activities in the area. The view from the room was incredible. There were games to play, snacks provided, and helpful maps in the room. Use of the fire pit was a wonderful addition to the experience. Staying in such a nice place definitely amplified the trip to Vermont!

You can take the 45 minute walk on the trail or drive 10 minutes to downtown Brattleboro where you'll find eateries, breweries, a movie theater, bowling, art museum and galleries, local shopping, book stores, hiking trails, and tubing and canoe/kayak rentals. There are also some great swimming spots on the West River.

  • A beautiful stay! Three people and a dog stayed comfortably. Secluded in nature but close to conveniences.

    Jess2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night at Chuck’s place. Everything was clean, cozy, and easy going, and felt totally comfortable and private despite being on a property so near other homes.

    Amy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fun space. The bed was comfortable and the house was delightfully warm. The stars were gorgeous from the porch.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely getaway for a weekend or more! We enjoyed being close to nature along West River and downtown Brattleboro.

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty good place. If you don’t want a typical motel in the Brattleboro area, this cute and cozy mini cabin will do the trick. It could use a little work on the craftsmanship (walls need extra reinforcing, painting) and the door should be able to be locked from the outside. I’d also add that you should definitely make sure You have a 4WD or AWD car if you’re staying here. The dirt road leading up to it is quite muddy and difficult to navigate if you don’t have a capable car. Other than that I wish there was running water and a fireplace, but since Chuck was upfront about that stuff, this place met my expectations. I don’t recommend this place for someone over 6 feet tall and over 250 pounds.

    Anour2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck provided us with an unforgettable stay; his Tiny Art House is so perfectly cozy and comforting, especially for watching the snow fall on a Winter’s night. The place was warm and inviting upon first entering, and kept it’s homey feel while still feeling like a retreat in the woods. I cannot recommend it enough, and I look forward to coming back and making more memories!

    Kendra2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck's TAH was the greatest answer to our need of a "do nothing and relax" getaway. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and Brattleboro was the best to wander and explore. But don't let the size of this little cabin fool you-- it is well beyond comfortable to just hang around and play cards in! The porch was even wonderful to sit out on while it snowed, wrapped up in a blanket. Our stay was beyond our expectations; we even got to buy some of Chuck's art to take home with us! This is an experience you will not regret, and one we plan on reliving many more times!

Abundantly sunny apartment tucked away in the hills of Southern VT. Rolling field with lovely southern views. Rural, peaceful spot (https://www.facebook.com/stonyhillvt/) on a dirt road. 6-8 minutes from Marlboro College, 20 minutes from Brattleboro, and 30 minutes from Mount Snow. Marlboro is a wonderful place to explore, with many local trails and wooded spots. Working garden/ small greenhouse on premises and, when in season, we offer our own salsas and hot sauces, as well as other goodies.
We are backyard farmers and gardeners, so you'll see us outside, doing stuff. We'll be in and out and all around, working and tending and such. Feel free to interrupt us if you need anything or maybe even just want to get your hands dirty! In terms of space, you are more than welcome to spend time outside in the backyard. We have plenty of space for walking about and taking in the lovely views. There is a picnic table in the backyard which you are welcome to use at your leisure, as well as a fire pit and a hammock. No smoking inside please. Outdoor smoking is permitted-just be responsible (please inquire if you have any herbal smoking needs).
Our house is located on a quiet, dirt road. It's a wonderful place to walk, run, or ride a bike.
  • The perfect quiet get a way destination for that much needed rest and relaxation! Erica and Leslie were incredible hosts who made us feel welcome from the very beginning!

  • You can expect a very quiet, peaceful stay in this clean bright, second floor space with views to the nearby hillside and field. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Louisa2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This home is in a truly special place. Off of a rural, dirt road, green surrounds the entire place...trees, meadows, gardens, and mountains in the distance. Birds and butterflies abound. The apartment is simple, rustic, yet very comfortable, airy, spacious and bright. The views from the windows are wonderful. The kitchen has all the basics, and the French coffee press, coffee and butter were nice to have in the morning. Very close to Marlboro Music Festival, swimming, and nearby Brattleboro. Will return.

    Frank2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place that was quiet and restful with lots of privacy.

    Wallis2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • For me, the location was perfect: quiet & surrounded by nature, while also a short, scenic drive to Brattleboro. I enjoyed the apartment’s spaciousness, artistic touches, and excellent book collection! Also walked the road, shaded by old maple trees, and never saw a single car. Heaven.

    Joanna2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Leslie and Erica's! It was such a peaceful getaway from hectic city life. We read and relaxed in the yard by their gardens, took a walk to South Pond, a beautiful place to swim (about 40 minutes walking, but a 7 minute drive), and made a fire at night. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook the food we brought, and also had a few helpful essentials like cooking oil and coffee (note that there is no microwave or toaster). The apartment also has two speakers that you can tune to the radio or hook up your phone with the aux cable provided, which made for a fun cooking dance party! The apartment itself is rustic in the most charming way, and has so many windows that even when we weren't soaking up the sun outside, it still felt like we got to enjoy nature's beauty. The bedroom does have an A/C window unit, although we didn't need to use it. The location is also great, a short drive to Brattleboro where we went to the Saturday farmer's market and explored the cute downtown area.

This is a brand new, one-of-a-kind guest house, a short space from the owners’ home. Surrounded by a beautiful garden and over 300 acres of woodlands for walking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, the house is well back from a quiet dirt road, thirty minutes from Route 91 in Brattleboro, ten minutes from the Marlboro Music Festival and Marlboro College. We are currently offering a 20% discount for 7 days or more!
The guesthouse itself is a finely detailed, craftsman-built, and fully equipped retreat for two. The setting is peaceful, the accommodations supremely quiet and filled with thoughtful details: the artwork is interesting, the bedding is refined, the sheets are linen and the bathroom is elegantly simple. The floor is polished concrete with the warmth of radiant heat. The whole space looks off to a light-filled southern view, beautiful all year round. Peace, peace, peace. The kitchen supplies include such basics as olive oil, pepper and salt mills, ground coffee, black and herbal teas. For your first morning, and at no charge, breakfast supplies can be included, according to your preference and by prior arrangement with Jillian: our local organic granola, artisinal bread, fruit, yogurt, and farm eggs.
This is a lovely, rural Vermont dirt road, usually well-maintained, about two miles from a main road.
  • Wonderful space. Peaceful. Tasteful. Jill is an exceptionally warm and generous host. Highly recommended.

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Truly outstanding. Jillian and her husband have put a great deal of thought into the guesthouse. Every detail has been considered for the visitor: the furnishings are extremely comfortable; there is abundant natural light; the kitchen has the latest high-end version of everything one would want; the bathroom includes abundant quality towels and plush bathrobes; there are extra sleeping pillows of varying firmness, so you can find the kind you prefer; the radiant heated floor is an added luxury in the winter. As a host Jillian strikes the perfect balance of being available for questions and assistance while respecting fully the privacy of guests. This is Airbnb hosting executed at the highest level, and I hope to return many times.

  • If you’re considering a trip to Vermont, this is your spot. Perfectly located in the beautiful green mountains on a property that has been in the family for generations. Secluded, beautiful, perfectly situated minutes from apple orchards, covered bridges, idyllic towns, hiking trails and mountain vistas this place has every detail to make for a perfect stay. We are definitely planning to return! Thanks Jillian and T. You guys are the best!!

    Chris2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jillian and T have created a truly beautiful private guest house. The open floor plan has a well designed, clean, modern decor, with several pieces of hand made furniture made which made for a very tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Jillian greeted us warmly and gave us a quick tour and helped us not only appreciate all the lovely amenities, and the well equipped kitchen, but also graciously helped us become acquainted with the local area. The wall of windows offered an abundance of natural light for enjoying the fall colors over the woodland valley, and a great space for enjoying a breakfast with the local foods kindly provided by our hosts. The studio is separate from the main house, but has several outdoor seating areas, and allows access to Jillian and T’s extensive garden, full of textures and colors This is an AirBnB gem and we are already thinking about when we can return.

    Robert2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely nestlike location in the woods of Vermont exceeded all of our expectations; from the hospitality of our hosts to the amenities and appointments of the space. We had quick and accurate response and instructions prior to the visit. We had a personal tour of the space that helped us appreciate many of the thoughtful touches. And we had great recommendations to some fabulous meals. But the best parts of the experience were the hosts and the space. Jill and T were very accommodating and charming. The space was designed and hand built by them and the woodwork and craftsmanship really show their love for the place. We could have spent the entire visit looking at the woodwork, but the view of the fall color through the window was a major distraction as the place is carefully set within their property to get full access to the views. Oh, and they have an amazing garden. Oh, and they provided the makings of an incredible breakfast. We could go on and on. We plan on returning...yearly!

    Robert2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jillian is an amazing host. The place is beautiful, stylish and very clean. Would absolutely come back again.

    Kristina2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, excellent craftsmanship, and design in a peaceful setting! I love the layout - it is spacious yet cozy, lots of natural light, and the kitchen is fully equipped. Wonderful outdoor spaces for lounging and eating, great walks in nature right from the studio. The bed is very comfortable, and there are a variety of pillow choices to ensure a good sleep. I appreciate that place was perfectly clean, yet there is no chemical odor from toxic cleaners. Located just 15 minutes from Wilmington and a little more to Brattleboro, and yet you are surrounded by nature and quiet. Jillian offered many extra touches, and she was the perfect hostess - looking forward to coming back many times. Thank you, Jillian!

Our place is situated on a plateau above West River with access to an 8-mile bike path, hiking trails, idyllic river swimming and cross country skiing. We're two miles to grocery stores and gas stations and 4 miles to charming downtown Brattleboro. You’ll love our place because of the beautiful land, gardens, pottery studio, and gallery. Our place is good for couples, soloists, families with kids, and furry friends (dogs must be on a leash when on the property).
The space is attached to our 270 year-old farm house but it has its own entrance. It consists of an entrance hallway, a sitting area, bathroom with stand-up shower and kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, and an electric kettle for making coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It has a small staircase leading up to a large sleeping loft with the capacity to sleep up to 5. Fresh linens and towels provided. Air conditioning is available if you like. Children and friendly dogs on leashes are more than welcome!
Our place is at the end of a 1/2-mile long dirt road with 6 houses on it. We are located on a stunning plateau above the West River...a 10-minute walk and you're close to several fabulous swimming holes. You can also hike or bike the 8-mile long trail that runs along the river. If you want to can walk to the Marina restaurant and eat dinner with a gorgeous view of the Retreat Meadows and the evening sunset.
  • very clean and adorably quaint home. chuck was very kind and recommended some places to dine at! would love to return during the summer or early fall as i'd imagine the area is gorgeous.

  • This place is perfect! My friends and I were looking for an affordable place near Mount Snow so we could enjoy a long weekend snowboarding. This was close enough to the mountain that we could easily drive back and forth, it was in a beautiful secluded area which made it easy for resting after a long day, and the layout is super cool! It was everything we could’ve possibly wanted. Chuck left us some awesome local recommendations and was very responsive to all of our messages and requests. Next time we’re in town we will absolutely be staying at Chuck’s!!!

  • This is the perfect place to go with your dog for a vacation! A beautiful, well designed space, friendly host, and access to awesome trails leading into Brattleboro!

    Noah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and cozy. The place is tiny and comfortable, and the owners are very friendly. We liked the pottery that decorates the whole apt, purchased a couple pieces as memorabilia of our weekend. I very much appreciated the lack of TV. We also liked being able to walk out just down the road to a nice trail along the creek, and we snowshoed around the property. Despite being located so close to amenities, just a few minutes from town, it feels more like a getaway from urbanization.

This is a private room with a shared bath. There is a cozy full sized bed. It is conveniently located just 2.5 miles from Mount Snow Ski resort. I’m in the middle of some remodeling and will have a new listing up soon, expect to be up and running for the Christmas season!
  • Wonderful host. We traded a lot of stories back and forth. Super location for Mt Snow.

  • Skip’s is one of the best places I have stayed. He is a really nice man. Had so many lovely conversations with him. The room is very cozy and clean, as is the bathroom. The whole house is just adorable and quaint. Easy to find, just make sure your gps doesn’t send you backroads. If you take rt. 100 most of the way it will get you closer and faster than the dirt roads. Only about 7 minutes from Mt. Snow and about 5 minutes from a bunch of places to eat in Dover. Highly recommend this place.

  • He is a good host and very friendly I will go back agin .Good time thank you for the hospitality.

  • Was great, thank you skip!

    Emeline2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I unfortunately got a flat tire on the NJ turnpike and were unable to get to Skips place. We stayed there the year prior and had a wonderful time. We plan to try and make the trip again next year!

    Andres2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Skip's place. Just as good as the first one, and we will come back for sure. One thing that I forgot to include in the other review was that there are plenty of hangers and hooks to hang your ski or snowboard clothing to dry before the next morning. Already looking forward to coming back here!

    Denis2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Skip's place is a classic ski town home. High ceilings make the place spacious. He is very friendly and allows you to make yourself at home. The bed is very comfortable and the comforter is soft. Skip lives there, year round. So he can point you in the right direction of things happening in town. Live music and food going on, etc. To no fault of Skip's, my trip was cut short by illness, which is a shame because I was looking forward to hitting the slopes of Mt Snow.

This spacious studio apartment is located in the former Swedish Congregational Church in historic Swedeville, a secluded hilly neighborhood built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800's. For years it housed Rick and Liza’s stained glass studio, which they have now lovingly and creatively transformed into a residence. The rental is minutes from the interstate and one mile from downtown Brattleboro, but the neighborhood has a rural and somewhat European flavor to it.
This 20x20 rental has ten foot high pressed tin ceilings, arched windows, stained glass, a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a twin sized day bed which converts to a king sized bed. The space offers a private subway-tiled bathroom with shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, induction hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, french press coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea pot, dishes and utensils. We will provide the fixings for coffee and tea for your use and we leave some breakfast foods in the fridge. Note: We do not have a kitchen sink so we will wash your dishes each day if you leave them outside your door each morning in a container we provide. We have a lovely vegetable and flower garden. You can expect to be greeted by roses or peonies or morning glories depending on the season. The October foliage is outstanding in this area and this neighborhood has some strikingly brilliant trees. During the winter when it snows, the neighborhood looks wonderful coated in sparkling white! Please note that there is a long term rental apartment above this space. You may on occasion hear footsteps on the stairs above. Our renter is very responsive and respectful.
Brattleboro has regularly been recognized as one of the best small towns and best art towns in the USA. It is home to galleries and thrift stores, to a great farmers' market and a monthly gallery walk, to a wonderful youth theatre, a jazz center, and a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Swedeville is a couple of blocks from nature trails for hiking or cross country skiing depending on season. There are many areas for swimming and hiking nearby as well. We are 10 minutes from the Marlboro Music Festival and less than an hour away from Mount Snow and only a bit further from other downhill ski areas.

This is a wonderful little spot in the woods. I have recently acquired it, and I’m really enjoying my space. I believe that you will enjoy it too. It is nice, however, not over the top. The architectural style could be classified as modern with touches of contemporary design. Parts of the house are of typical American design thus making most feel welcome. It is important to note that three creatures call this home, two cats Tom and Jerry, and myself. We live here full time.
My house is not far from many restaurants and outdoor activities from hiking to stand up paddle boarding, boating, skiing, and other activities. It is basically rather quiet with exception of occasional road noise from traffic. It is also close to small towns that each have their own flavor. Light pollution is minimal, clear nights reveal a great sky.
Dover has so many things to offer. Great dining, fine dining, skiing, hiking and all other sorts of outdoor activities. These are available year-round depending upon the season. Being in the middle of southern central Vermont you’re not far from quintessential New England towns; from Brattleboro with its art scene to Newfane with it’s picturesque town square.
  • A super comfortable stay an easy 10 minute drive to Mt Snow. Ron will give you all the tips you need for the mountain!

    James2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

  • Ron was an amazing host. He provided us with everything we wanted an a bunch of things we weren't even thinking of. His cats were incredibly cute and fun to be around. The house was clean and spacious. Ron was great to talk to about tips at Mount Snow and about various other things. He was very easy to get in contact with and was very communicative. We loved our stay at his home and we would absolutely stay again!

    Eric2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ron is an amazing host, as you can see by all the prior reviews. The space was as advertised, very clean and comfortable. Ron was an outstanding host and gave us great local tips that’s enhanced our weekend. 10/10 recommend

One of the oldest homes in West Townshend with loads of charm! Bright, cozy rooms and a private yard with outdoor fire pit. Quiet side street with easy access to the Townshend Lake Trail System. Enjoy nature walks, river exploration, mountain biking, and cross country skiing. Walk to the country store/café for wholesome meals plus seasonal Farmer's Market. Convenient to both Brattleboro and Manchester. Explore Southern Vermont's recreation, dining, shopping and ski resorts
The space is cozy with plenty of natural light and is set up to make your stay as comfortable as possible. New mattresses and beds with quality linens and towels. New washer and dryer for laundry during extended stays. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you want to do your own cooking. There is a toaster oven as well as a traditional electric range and a microwave. Coffee and tea are provided. There have been many recent upgrades to this home, but several features are unique in character including an antique claw foot bath tub (with shower) in the main bathroom. The second bathroom is quite small with an older tub as well plus a hand held shower . As is typical with old Vermont farm houses- people made use of what was availble. The house, with its old time VT character and the village setting will definitely give you a classic small town New England experience!
The neighbors keep to themselves, but friendly. Worden Lane is not a through road so there is very little traffic. A short walk to the end of the road will lead you to the trail system.
  • Tansy’s place was really great. It was quaint in a good way and very spacious with a wonderful country feel to it. It was a very warm place to come home to after a long day of skiing.

    William2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway. Very spacious and well decorated. We were happy to see the kitchen is stocked with essential dishes and pans so we could cook a meal.

    Lisa2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy was a great host and the cottage was adorable! It was quaint, relaxing and well decorated - we loved it. The outlets were baby proofed which was thoughtful for those with families. The cottage was spacious and the pictures didn’t so justice - much better than expected. Truly got the Vermont winter experience. Would recommend to anyone and come back! Thank you!

    Christina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy’s place was sooo nice. Much larger than I thought! It was spacious and clean and just the perfect home for after a day a skiing!

    Alexandra2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We love this little cottage more than we can say, and have now visited both in the summer and winter. This is a great area, the cottage is centrally located, and we couldn’t ask for a better host. We’ll be back!

    Melanie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! Cozy and conveniently located near at ski resorts. Will definitely stay here again!

    Hailey2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is the quintessential VT farm house. Looks like Joanna and Chip Gaines helped with the decorations. We would highly recommend this gem. It is a central location for skiing Bromley, Stratton, and Mt Snow.

    Stephen2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy's place was awesome. Very cozy, stylish, and clean place to stay for a ski trip with plenty of room for several people. She's very responsive and gave recommendations for the surrounding area upon request. Provided awesome variety of seasonings to make cooking much easier compared to other hosts I have stayed with in the past. The only thing I would say, and it is not a turn off in the slightest, is that the space upstairs and in the bathroom is not tall friendly. I'm 6'5" and was a little large for the shower as my head was hitting the ceiling.

  • Lasse’s cabin is beautiful, clean, and peaceful. She was easy to communicate with and had great local recommendations for food and activities. We enjoyed cooking dinner in the cabin, which has a really nice kitchen and all of the tools we needed, and made use of the puzzles and board games. We also checked out a local hike and had lunch in nearby Brattleboro. We visited in March, but this place would be great any time of year with the many hiking and snow sports options!

    Meghan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cabin. Booked the trip for a skiing trip to mount snow which is about 20 minutes away. Cabin is in a very remote area, the driveway very steep and dirt so having four wheel drive to get up the road is probably in your best interest. It only has one bathroom though so to sleep 6 people it was a little tight to share that with everyone. Other than that the views were amazing and it was the perfect spot!

    Lauren2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lasse’s cabin is beautiful. No detail left untouched. We had a very relaxing, peaceful stay. Can’t wait to visit again!

    Elizabeth2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Lasse's cabin and once again we had an amazing time. We came up to VT for a weekend of snowboarding at Mount Snow (only 20min away) but decided to spend Saturday lounging around the cabin because it's just that nice. Great views, spectacular property, we can't wait to be back later this year.

    Billy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly beautiful! Pictures can’t even do this place justice. Insanely nice view, modern design and appliances, very quiet and isolated. Breathtaking.

    Andy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lasse’s place is even more spectacular than the pictures. The only downside was we couldn’t stay longer! The cabin itself is incredibly clean, well decorated and has everything you could ever need - from kitchen utensils, to games, puzzles and books. The biggest selling point of this place though is the incredible views over the river that can be seen from virtually every part of the cabin. It’s also well situated to several good restaurants and activities. Lasse went above in beyond in terms of communication and recommendations for our stay. We’ll definitely be returning!

    Emily2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Lasse's beautiful cabin. From the amazing views of the mountains to the spacious, clean kitchen. We had a great time skiing nearby and coming home to the cozy cabin. Thank you for a lovely weekend Lasse!

This Barn has been transformed into a simple yet comfortable living space. The upstairs is all yours! The Barn is located in the middle of a plant nursery specializing in Daylilies. Additionally there are 1000's of perennials and herbs. Great for birders and wildlife lovers and plant enthusiasts. As the gardens meld into more wilder areas with walks through woods and fields. From May on there are always flowers in bloom. We are also only 20 minutes to Mount Snow.
This is a flower nursery from May-September. Part of the charm of the farm is the activity surrounding the plant nursery. There is always lots happening during the growing season. Guests are welcome to observe or even become involved in the process if they are so inclined.
This is a rural area. Wildlife and plants abound. If you're a birder this is a great spot. Want to experience a plant nursery first hand this is the place. During the Fall and Winter this is a great spot to start to explore from. The surrounding mountains are spectacular during leaf peeping season. In the winter we are about 20 minutes from Mount Snow and other ski resorts are close as well.
  • Fantastic! Would recommend for anyone who appreciates nature and is looking for a unique, interesting, and comfortable place to stay.

  • Chris’s place was great and was an excellent value for our ski trip to Mount Snow. It was less than 25 minutes to the mountain. It offered plenty of space for our family of 4- it’s really a big space. We loved the main bedroom with super comfy bed and the awesome views. Chris greeted us when we arrived, showed us the space, and provided us with local suggestions. He communicated with us throughout and is an outstanding host. - Highly recommend!

  • Chris’s place is clean, charming and spacious. The barn is on a beautiful piece of property on a lovely, quiet Vermont road. After skiing at Mt Snow, maybe 20 min down the road, it was a lovely place to come home too. Chris is very helpful and attentive and a very nice person. He has a great book collection ! A great place to spend a few days in Vermont. I cant wait to return in the summer when the farm is in bloom.

    Nicole2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying, perfect for somewhere to sleep while going to mount snow

    Kenneth2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Chris place was perfect as described. It is 2 ajoining bedroomsz with a bath and good size living room in between. It had snowed and ice on the trees, so it was one of the most beautiful visits ever to Vermont. It was like a winter wonderland. I was fortunate to stay on a cold clear night,so had great view of full moon and starry night from skylights. The living room is great for gathering with small tables for cards or games. Chris recommended Fat Crow which is only 10 min away and food was fabulous. Thanks for a great comfortable stay.

We are shutting down our AirBnB for the near future, as part of our home's COVID-19 prevention plan. We are optimistic it will clear up, just not sure when. We are 3 miles from Brattleboro center, near-ish to Mts. Snow, Stratton and Okemo, off of I-91. The Amtrak from Wash DC and NYC stops here. This is an architect-designed "high-performance" contemporary home, on 3 wooded acres, surrounded by forest and pasture. Large windows give eastward views of forests and mountains of New Hampshire.
This private, light-filled lower level apartment in the owner's home includes: - Private entrance that takes you past a lush, terraced garden. - Several picture-window views of the New Hampshire mountains to the east. In morning you can see the sun rise, and in the evening the mountains are basked in warm light. - Bedroom with queen bed, walk-in closet and desk. - New, modern open plan kitchen, with fridge, induction stove top, over-counter microwave, countertop toaster oven and quartz stone counters. - Living area with couch that may be opened to a queen bed, and a smart (internet) TV. - If you want more than one bed: The couch opens up to a queen bed and and we add a 4" mattress topper, which is comfy. We also have a queen size airbed. For either of these, please tell us in advance, so that this is set up for you before you arrive. - Full bathroom. - Direct access to the laundry area, also used by the main house. - High speed gigabit internet. Generally over 200MB download speeds throughout the apartment - Security: This is a low-crime area. Nevertheless, we have a security system in place that makes it safer for everyone, as our AirBnB guests who come from different locations may be less familiar with our area. How this is an Eco house... This "high-performance" home has a low carbon footprint, while being comfortable, appropriate to the surroundings, and well crafted. - The home is all-electric, 50% powered by rooftop solar panels and no fossil fuels are used for heating or indoor cooking. Smoking is not allowed. - Warmth is supplied by radiant floor heating. - We supply some food prep ingredients that we buy in bulk (local), in order to reduce need for guests who want to cook here, who may otherwise buy these packaged items. See House Manual for details that may help you for shopping, if you want to cook here. - We supply reusable shopping bags and vegetable bags. (See House Manual for using these at Brattleboro Food Co-op). - The walls and roof are super-insulated and windows are triple glazed. - Whole house ventilation system brings fresh air into all the rooms. - Hot water heat pump technology. - Kitchen cooktops are induction, which is energy conserving. - Front-loading washer conserves water. - We try to maintain good habits: Being prudent about water use, turning off light bulbs when not in use, and keeping thermostats at 68d or lower. Access to this country home during winter requires a car with snow or all-weather tires to get up the moderately-steep drive.
Brattleboro (occasionally referred to as "the banana belt" of VT) is the hub for a lovely area in southeastern VT. The town is a few degrees warmer than nearby and also very beautiful areas, because of its location on the Connecticut river. We love being here because of the mix of beautiful outdoors, vibrant creative culture, farm and food, independent thinking, and direct democracy in the form of town meeting and Select Board style of government... citizens here get to make a difference in the way their town is governed. Also, there is a little history right near our home. Rudyard Kipling wrote Jungle Book while in his home called Naulahka, 1 mile up our road, after he moved here (for a period) to live with his Vermont-raised wife. The back dirt roads within a 2-3 mile radius of our home are beautiful, and spotted with farms, maple-tapping forests and sugar houses, a cemetery from the 1800s, a wooden covered bridge, and other things that are fun to drive, bike or hike around and see. There are 1-2 short hikes or walks that you can do from our house, without needing a car. Just ask us if you want to know about it. Our AirBnB guidebook lists activities and restaurants that we recommend.
  • Such a great space! Beautiful apartment and overall environment. Close to town and nearby trails. Would come back and stay here, thanks for the great stay!

  • This place is exactly as described. Incredibly clean and super cozy with some thoughtful touches from the host. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend of skiing and the apartment was truly a snag. Brianna recommended a number of restaurants to us, was very welcoming, and quick with responses to any questions. Highly recommend this spot, I really can’t say enough good things about it!

    Meghan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna has a wonderful place in a peaceful setting. The room is spacious and clean and plenty of extras (blankets, towels, chocolates❤️). I appreciated the thoughtful touch with the homemade granola- delicious. Great Value!

    Adrienne2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Briannas place was just what we needed to get away from the city. It was hard looking for something affordable without compromising comfort and style but we found it at Briannas fabulous barn! The space was clean and well equipped for a family of four and Brianna was super fast at responding to all our inquiries. The location was also close to all we wanted to do and she provided nice little touches like yogurt, granola, chocolate and coffee which we all gobbled up! We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back soon!

  • We had a lovely time here, great location, beautiful space, very hospitable!!!

  • Stayed here for a long weekend and the place was great. The little amenities that were left for us were very appreciated!

    Matthew2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place for a weekend getaway! Very quiet, relaxing, spacious, clean, and quiet neighbors. I really appreciated that Brianna had left plenty of towels and pillows for us to use, as well as yogurt in the fridge. Bed was super comfortable and my partner and I got a great nights sleep.

We have converted the sauna cabin into a simple retreat at the forest's edge. Nothing fancy, but a fabulous view over the treetops to Canoe Brook below and there are trails that wind through the woods and landscaped gardens of our homestead. You can hear the creek and the barred owls sing in the evening. There's a small woodstove for cool nights and evenings. The Putney School and Green Mountain Orchard are close by as are all of the lovely attractions of the Putney and Brattleboro area.
The cabin is on our property which has flower and vegetable gardens as well as countless trails and walking routes. You can bike the gravel roads, explore the many swimming holes nearby, and visit local farmers markets and orchards. This is rural Vermont living. We have a dog on the property who is friendly. We also run an active artist studio producing paintings and ceramics. The cabin is right next to our house so there will be casual interaction when visiting though we fully respect your privacy. The cabin is small and should really be thought of as a camping experience. There's no kitchen so bringing your own camping gear for meals is essential. There are no sleeping mats or bedding provided. You must bring your own sleeping pads and sleeping bags/bedding. There is no running water, however there will be a large water dispenser in the cabin filled with fresh water for your stay. There is an outhouse, but no shower or full bathroom. Think, simple.
We are the first driveway after the asphalt ends. Rural roads meandering past farms and old stone walls, the perfect routes for checking out the fall colors are right out the door. The Putney School trails for skiing and hiking literally begin at the door of this cabin. You can go for miles of trails here, or nearby is Putney Mountain and the Pinnacle--local favorites that offer even more opportunity to explore this magic landscape. And Putney as a village provides so much in the form of arts, theater, farmers markets, orchards, and great people.
  • This is a sweet little rustic cabin to camp in for a weekend of hiking, trail running or just being quiet and unplugged. The location is quiet and an ideal distance to the quaint town of Putney. There are extensive trails right out the back door and a beautiful brook below the cabin. If you are a camper this is a real treat in the colder months with a woodstove and big windows overlooking a beautiful forest. Aaron was accommodating and kind. A great find!

    Amy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Putney is stunning in the fall! The Cabin Retreat was truly memorable. The location is incredible - cute, rustic cabin made comfy in the autumn chill by a wood stove; hiking literally out the back steps and loads of places to hike around the area; the aesthetic of the cabin grounds is truly lovely. Aaron was welcoming (so was Thistle!), quick to respond, and helpful with suggestions about places to go & things to do.

    Maggie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such an adorable cozy cabin, and Aaron was an outstanding host. He had recommendations for hiking, food, and activities; the cabin was clean and supplied with fresh water, and he had an extra sleeping bag when my boyfriend forgot his. Loved it!

    Camelia2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best camping AirBnb’s I’ve ever stayed in! Aaron and his wife are so friendly and welcome. They met us at check in and told us all about the trails behind the tiny house as well as great swimming holes and hikes in the area. They provided drinking water and electricity which was exactly what we needed. Will definitely stay again if I get the opportunity!

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Thistle gave us a lovely welcome greeting as we arrived around sunset. Beautiful, creative and inviting touches in a sweet natural setting. Lovely, lovely. The tiny cabin didn't feel too small because of the nice size windows that invited in the woodsy surroundings. A string of lights were on to say "Come on in!" We completely enjoyed our stay, took a few hikes, refreshed ourselves in the creek and slept well listening to crickets and owls at night, distant roosters in the morning. Aaron helped us get familiar with the area and was easy and enjoyable to talk to as well. This is a fun and peaceful way to take a break and enjoy the natural world without setting up a tent, hassling with bugs or dirt. A wonderful experience all around. Highly recommend a stay. A great value! Donna

  • We’d agree with others comments. Everything was pretty much what we expected from what we read. There were two upstairs bedrooms and a private bath along with a sitting area etc. We’d recommend it for that SE corner of VT.

    Deane2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Steve's home was exactly what we needed. Clean, warm, cozy and welcoming. Their dogs Finn and Penny took good care of us as well. Homemade banana bread and a delicious selection of homemade jams were a highlight for breakfast. It was so easy to be there. We would love to come back. We would encourage first timers to know their directions ahead of time because the cell service can be intermittent making GPS unreliable. In winter there may be roads that are not plowed or used until the snow is gone. GPS didn't tell us that. We learned the hard way. Make sure to read in the details section what to be looking for as you get closer to their home.. It is all there clearly explained. We highly recommend a stay at Lisa and Dave's. They are excellent hosts! Donna and Matt

    Donna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an authentic Vermont experience, this is it. They are such wonderful hosts and have made one of the nicest spaces I have ever stayed in. I had two crazy toddlers with me and they were so supportive and accommodating. The area is absolutely gorgeous, between the river view in one bedroom and the farm/mountain view in the other this place is perfect for any season. It is also 30 minutes from almost everything in southern Vermont, it’s a perfect home base!

    Steven2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay at for a weekend skiing at mount snow. Wonderful breakfast and loved the friendly dogs!

    Kelly2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Very clean and spacious. Lisa and Steve are very helpful and kind hosts. I recommend staying w them to anyone interested.

    Kevin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Steve are extremely warm hospitable people. They had breakfast on the table waiting for us every morning. They also took into account me being vegan. The house was adorable! We had the entire upstairs to ourselves. The beds were SO comfortable and the shower head in the bathroom detaches so it can be handheld which is really nice.. They have two dogs, Finn and Penny. Both the two sweetest things. Finn is a cuddler and followed us upstairs most of the time to hang out. We had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend staying with Lisa and Steve!!!!

    Stephanie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Steve are amazing hosts. Their dogs and cat are super friendly, breakfast was awesome (particularly the jam), and the beds we're comfy. Overall a great stay and would stay with them again.

  • I had a wonderful time at Lisa and Steve's place. We went for a trip at Stratton Mt and they were conveniently nearby. Having the whole top floor to ourselves made us feel at home and the banana bread they made us to eat on the mountain was delicious!

  • This place is the perfect getaway. My wife and I stayed here for a ski/snowboard weekend at Stratton. It’s about 20 mins from Stratton and isn’t too difficult if there’s snow. The cabin is very cozy and secluded so it’s perfect for a couple. I would stay here again if skiing in Southern VT.

    Adam2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great. Good location, good communication, we had everything we needed. The owner even plowed our parking and shoveled the deck.

  • Easiest 5 star review I've written. This was my favorite of the 20+ airbnb's Ive stayed at. Exactly as pictured. We were shockingly warm (in 42 f temps at night), the camp fire was great, and they had everything we needed.

    Ryan2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at tanglebloom cabin was something out of a storybook, simply a magical time, to say the very least. Everything was sparkling clean, and tons of firewood, a nice thick blanket and lanterns/lights were kindly provided. It couldn't have been a more enjoyable stay! We will absolutley be returning. And if you get the chance to stay here, itll be one of the best decisions you've ever made.

  • You will not want to miss the chance to stay at the open air cabin! Easy to get to multiple hiking areas, good food, quaint towns...and quiet! Everything surpassed our expectations and was perfect. Even though the nights were in the low-mid 40s, the cabin was very comfortable and cozy. The view is gorgeous. Melissa really goes out of the way to think of everything and has an eye for detail. We would definitely return again! Thanks Tanglebloom Family!

    Heather2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very romantic night with my husband. We had bonfire and roasted some sweet potatoes. I thought it might be cold to sleep in air , I brought a sleeping bag. Actually it was not bad at all. I also had a hot shower in Melissa’s house. Haha, in the middle night, I was scared by the wolf howling. I roused my husband, I was afraid if they were around us. My husband said: Don’t worry they are only interested in chickens.

    Stella2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful slice of paradise and unique experience to comfortably enjoy sleeping in the beautiful Vermont outdoors! Recommendations were spot on and location was great. Couldn’t be happier with our stay!

    Kabele2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing and unique Airbnb experience. Communication was prompt and description was accurate. Will definitely return if in the area.

    Lyndsay2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay at the cabin. Melissa was very accommodating and made us feel right at home in this off the grid, open air space. We experienced a bit of rain on the night of our stay, which in all honesty only added to the tranquility of the space. We couldn’t recommend this cabin enough, and only hope that we can make it back again for a longer stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay in the cabin. My girlfriend and I went for a weekend ski getaway at Mt Snow. This was about 30 minutes away from the slopes. Everything was as expected when we got inside. The wood stove was amazing. The view of the sunrise from the bedroom is unparalleled. One suggestion I would make is, if you're staying here in the winter, make sure to have a good set of winter tires. My winters were on their last legs and we unfortunately got stuck in the driveway. Nonetheless, the host came and helped us out with some sand. All-in-all, we'd definitely stay again!

  • Had a warm welcome and a lovely peaceful stay. We only booked last minute so we’re grateful for the speedy responses. We loved the cabin and it’s surrounds. Charming character for a cosy getaway - snowy walks and a log fire. Great combination! :)

  • This place is simply an idyllic getaway in Vermont. Stayed there a for one night on a freezing day, but were so warm thanks to the wood stove. We cooked dinner in the well-stocked kitchen, watched a movie on one of the two tv’s, and watched the sunrise from the comfort of the king bed. Very aesthetically pleasing and physically comfy cabin. Highly recommend!

    Ethan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve never stayed in a tiny home before and this was my first one. And it’s an awesome first one at that. It’s quite and quaint. I went up on a snowboard trip and have been eyeing on this tiny home on Airbnb for about a year and decided to try it. It’s pretty roomy. I felt comfortable in it. They let me bring my dog - super huge win. And it was pretty simple and minimalistic. It’s quiet - when I was there no one was around and it was just super nice. The kitchen was small but usable for most things. I didn’t really cook here so I’m unsure. The place gets warm! And the water is amazing. I was worried when it said well water but uh that water quality is amazing. Both for drinking and cleaning. Honestly? I can’t rave enough about it. It’s close to Stratton and mount snow and Bromley if you are doing the ski trip thing. And, for summer, there’s a lot of outdoors stuff to do up here. I’d stay again in a heartbeat and prob will in the summer.

The glass cabin is a unique gem. Planted in the woods with the extra essentials you need, or want, you’re sure to be able to relax. There is NO ELECTRICITY but we have a heater for the cabin and power bank for your phones. :) We provide firewood and kindling for the fire pit. Late spring/summer- We do have a separate shower and minimalist bathroom, for all guests, in the warmer months. For winter- inquire when booking
There’s nothing better than waking up in the peacefulness of the woods, with the sun on your face, and having a bit more luxury than camping. Welcome to our happy place!
We are only one block from Jamaica State Park. There are beautiful hiking trails, fishing, swimming holes, and waterfalls galore. We are also 10 miles from Stratton. You can hike, ski, snowboard, mountain bike. Lots of live music in and around Jamaica as well!
  • This place was very unique and just about what we expected. We actually expected it to be a little smaller but it was a perfect size for two! The path up the hill to the tiny house was lit which was great to be able to see at night, although we had to be very careful to not slip on any ice/snow. There was a cafe and little market right across the street which was really convenient. Elizabeth made sure we had what we needed and let us know she was only a text/call away if we had any questions.

Our home is cozy & filled with art, books & warmth. Enjoy the living room and dining room plus cook in the kitchen. You may make tea or coffee. The guest room is on the 2nd floor & the guest bath is downstairs. We welcome couples, parent & child or singular women. No singular men please. We are a 20-min walk & 5-min. drive from Main St. & many delicious eateries and specialty shops. We keep our small, quiet dog out of the guest room. We also have a rabbit caged in the mudroom.
There are two twin beds in the 2nd floor guest room. The room is comfortable and filled with favorite books. The guest full bath is on the first floor.
We are within 20-minutes walking distance of downtown, schools, cultural events, and shops. There are many trees in the neighborhood and town, lovely gardens, birds all around, and great views making local walks pleasant.

  • This is a lovely spot to enjoy Brattleboro -- a clean, comfortable, commodious space with twin beds, a bathroom downstairs dedicated to your use, a hostess who will accommodate you if she possibly can, and even some kitchen access. Really above and beyond the usual standard, especially for the price.
