Cosy, rustic, off-grid wooden cabin, surrounded by mature, private woodland with diverse wildlife. 1.5 miles south of Biggar. Woodburning Stove & Cookware Sleeping Bags/Pillows with fresh cotton slips/Towels/Firewood/Candles all provided Outdoor (heat your own water) Camping Shower Compost loo Views to Coulter Fell & Tinto Hill - fantastic hikes! A renovated wooden horse stable with mezzanine bed up a ladder, wood-burning stove (pots/pans/utensils etc provided), kitchen sink with fresh drinking water and DIY outdoor (hot!) camping shower. This is simple, rustic living for those who want to be closer to nature, surrounded by trees and birdsong. The site is not completely free of road noise (see satellite image) but with a light wind through leafy trees it's certainly well masked. Winter visitors be sure to bring appropriate day/night wear.
Biggar is a historic market town, Coulter has great walks and an excellent old pub - The Mill Inn. The woodland around the bothy has many species of birds including sparrowhawks and firecrest wrens, the occasional fox and regular visits from deer.
  • Our 2nd visit as we loved it so much.

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay. Feel cleansed of modern day stresses. A lovely off grid reset.

    Shane2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is lovely, lots of nice touches and very cosy! Thank you Merlin!

    Katie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the bothy in the February snow. Despite this, once the log burner was going it was toasty warm inside and we had a fabulous, relaxing stay.

  • The Bothy is a beautiful, quiet place to get away and relax! Even in February, with the stove it’s warm in the evenings ! The hosts were welcoming and had prepared instructions and handy tips for every event making the stay very easy. The location is ideal for walking and exploring ! Will definitely be returning :)

    Amy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My experience at the Bothy was truly a wonderful. Beautifully situated in woods surrounded by the sounds of nature. It was a perfect time to switch off. Merlin et al made for the perfect hosts - warm, informative and responsive. I especially enjoyed the outdoor shower (exhilarating!!), burning the log fire, and the morning birds! I will certainly be returning, and highly recommend this experience!

  • Second visit to the bothy and it was just as relaxing as the first visit. It’s a perfect environment to switch off and forget the rest of the world. Especially useful on Friday 31st Jan @11pm.... 🙃 the space was perfect and it’s something I recommend everyone visit. I convinced my partner to use the outside shower and she loved it. Success!

    Blair2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed numerous times at the bothy and definitely prefer the winter, outdoor shower is so refreshing, trust us and dive in. Everything you need is provided for a relaxing weekend full of tranquility and washing the working week away.

***Dates for July 2020 onwards will start becoming available in March*** Stay in a 20m2 geodesic dome in a secluded location in rural Northumberland. With a wood fired hot tub, fire pit, and deck with beautiful views of the pond and surrounding trees, it's a perfect spot to relax, unwind and get back to nature. The site is completely off grid - water in containers, solar power, and composting toilet. We believe this makes the site special, offering a unique back-to-basics experience.
Our ethos is to provide a simple but comfortable, tranquil space to 'unplug' from the modern world, with a minimal impact on the surrounding nature so that it can be enjoyed. Please read our description fully before booking to ensure that our dome and site is perfect for you. Satori dome is located on a working farm alongside a large pond. Spend your time watching wild ducks and swans through the panoramic bay window, or explore North Northumeberland before heading back to your site for a soak in the outdoor Japanese soaking tub, whilst star gazing from the deck. Our dome is set up for 2 people with a double bed and Eve© memory foam mattress (bedding is provided.) LED battery fairy lights and lanterns provide mood lighting inside and outside the dome at night, and logs are provided for the wood burning stove and fire to keep you cosy when it is cold outside. Outside on the deck is a gas BBQ for cooking and inside there is a worktop and sink set up for prepping simple meals and washing up dishes (plates, cutlery and utensils provided.) A camp stove and kettle is also provided if you wish to boil water for teas and coffee. A leisure battery powers a small 24 Litre electric cool box to keep food items cool. The battery also has a USB port to charge your devices. Our simple off-grid sink is setup with a 25 litre container of fresh spring water and hand pump tap for washing up. Your outdoor hot tub will be filled with fresh spring water for your arrival. It can be used 2-3 times and takes 2-4 hours to heat up (depending on the weather/season), and will usually stay warm overnight. Please note that in keeping with our ethos of having a low impact on the surrounding nature, soaps are NOT allowed to be used in the tub because of the harm they could cause to the aquatic life of the pond when the tub is drained. We do not (yet) have a shower at the dome, for most people this is not a problem as the hot tub water is clean and does not contain any chemicals, and makes you feel fresh afterwards. The Eco friendly composting toilet is set back from the dome. Whilst it is basic, please be assured that it is both clean and civilised :)
The site is rural (no postcode and the closest neighbours are sheep), but is not far from a main road with easy access to the market towns Wooler (10 mins), Alnwick (20 mins) and Berwick-upon-Tweed (30 mins), as well as the stunning coast (40 mins). There are plenty of local pubs and shops within an approximate 10 minute drive. The location is great for those seeking to explore Chillingham Castle, The Cheviot hills, Ingram Valley, Bamburgh Beach and many other spectacular locations.
  • Great place, bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Complete isolation and a great view of the lake. Wood burning fire for inside and for the hot tub - plenty of logs provided. The bed is comfortable and the utilities do a basic job well. If you're into this sort of thing, this is just right.

    Ben2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Simply a wonderful experience, so peaceful and relaxing. The dome and its location are stunning, even in the middle of February! Using the hot tub under the blackest starry sky I’ve ever seen was blissful. I was worried about the toilet, but it was clean and very hygienic. It took us mire like 5 hours to heat up the tub, but only because we were being a little too cautious. Definitely leave the ash pan open a little on the hot tub stove to get the fire roaring and I’m sure it could be done in 3 hours. We left the curtains open to watch for shooting stars; just wonderful. We will stay there again in the summer or autumn to experience better weather, but this did not detract from a wonderful break.

    Michelle2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to get away and switch off from everything, loved all the extra touches and the setting of the dome is amazing. To be able to sit in a hot tub and star gaze on a cold February night was brilliant ☺️

    Louise2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend. Weve just stayed in cold January and so long as the log burner was lit the dome was lovely and warm. Great waking up looking out over the lake. The hot tub takes awhile to heat as expected and stated but once reached heat it was boiling. Plenty of pubs in surrounding areas for a bite to eat. I imagine summer stays are fab with the bbq and fire pit

    Sally2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A very special space, with beautiful views over the lake. Didn’t see anyone else from arriving until we left- felt totally safe & secluded. The hot tub took a few hours to heat the first night but was well worth it! Clear skies, stars, & nothing to hear but occasional ducks and the crackle of the fire. Then the next day it only took an hour or so to heat. The dome was lovely and cosy with the wood burner - perfect for the January cold clear weather (swans were ice-breaking on the pond in the morning)! It is exactly as described, would highly recommend staying here :)

    Lottie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

Retreat to the deck of this sustainable getaway and gaze at the twinkling constellations under a cosy tartan blanket. AirShip 2 is an iconic, insulated aluminum pod designed by Roderick James with views of the Sound of Mull from dragonfly windows. Airship002 is comfortable, quirky and cool. The kitchen has a toaster, electric kettle, tefal halogen hob, combination oven/microwave. All pots and pans, plates, glasses ,cutlery provided. All you will need to bring is your food. worth stocking up on your way in as Lochaline is the nearest place to shop which is 8 miles away.
The AirShip is situated in a beautiful, secluded position on a four-acre site. Stunning views reach across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and out to sea toward Ardnamurchan Point.
  • Wonderful place to relax & enjoy a hidden part of Scotland. Didn’t want to leave!

  • A beautiful, magical and unique experience. Very cosy and comfortable with everything you could ever need and so much more! Such a quirky place to stay and a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time in your very own airship. Amanda is an amazing host. We cannot thank or praise her enough. Communication and welcome were amazing. Would absolutely love to make a return trip. The perfect get a way for couples.

    Gina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Airship 002 is everything the photos portray it to be. We happened to stay there a stormy weekend in February and were more than happy to hibernate in such a beautiful place. The windows really make you feel like you’re in the landscape and every aspect of the design works seamlessly. I’d recommend it to anyone and would go back in a heartbeat.

Authentic medieval mini castle with roaring log fires and all modern comforts. In beautiful countryside on the River Tweed. Ideal for exploring the Scottish Borders. Biking at Glentress 5 minutes; Edinburgh 45 minutes; Peebles nearby. Heavenly walks.
Enjoy staying in a cosy, romantic miniature castle with all the luxuries of the 21st century. There is a luxurious double bed on the top floor and a possible 2 extra single beds in the Sitting Room.
The rolling hills and romantic valleys of Peebleshire are some of the loveliest in the land. World class Glentress is nearby for keen mountain bikers and Peebles is full of charm, with an award winning chocolatier and plenty of interesting shops.
  • This is a wee treasure. We had a wonderful time and loved the environment with the river and abandonned railway. The castle was very clean and comfortable.

    Lobke2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique and beautiful place to stay. The property has all the amenities you could need. It is in a great location for walking and for a day trip to Edinburgh.

    Rebecca2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Castle is beautiful and even better than it looks in the pictures. It’s cosy and very peaceful. I’m sure we’ll come back for another visit. Cheers, Jack and Emma

  • Everything was perfect: a warm welcome with touches of attention, perfectly clean places, heated rooms, complete kitchen equipment, sufficient bathroom linen, etc. It was a magical stay in a tower steeped in history in the Scottish countryside. The walks in the surrounding countryside are superb: fields, woods and river ... and Lulu offered us a private tour of the Neidpath Castle: exceptional! One of our best AirBNB experiences

    Fabienne2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic castle! Absolutely brilliant! Lovingly restored to an exceptional standard, warm and cosy - you'll not want to leave!

    Justyn2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! A gorgeous ‘castle’ set on the grounds with other properties, we felt incredibly grand entering to stay. The gate and door were so much fun and the history of the castle was explained once inside. Impeccably clean and great cooking facilities, this cosy accommodation is a must stay and with the novelty of the spiral staircase, spacious rooms and considerate additions of food in the fridge, it was certainly hard to leave after our three nights.

    Madeleine2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lulu is an amazing host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fantastic piece of history, with great amenities.

    Maryam2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magical. We stayed for over a week, relaxing, taking walks, exploring Peebles and the amazing sights of Scotland. From the comfort of the tower to our personalized tour of Neidpath Castle, this was a trip we surely won't forget. The stairs are no joke, but by the end of our stay, our ability to navigate them became easier.

Sit outside watching the waves with a cosy fire on chilly evenings. Climb the oak library ladder and drift off to sleep to the sound of the sea. Curl up next to the log burner with a good book, or stroll along the beach to spot seabirds and seals.
A welcoming and cosy atmosphere awaits, with a log burning stove, tasteful and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen area is well equipped with 2 burner induction hob, combi microwave oven for baking, cooking and grilling and under counter fridge/freezer. Eat at the dining table which seats four while enjoying the sea view. The comfortable king size bed is on the mezzanine level accessed by a library ladder which conveniently slides away when not in use. There is a spacious shower room with heated towel rail and sliding oak barn door. Fast WiFi, Bluetooth speaker and digital radio included. Outside, the private terrace has comfortable reclining chairs, a dining set, bbq and fire pit and of course the stunning view! The cottage sits in the large garden of the main house which is divided into upper and lower apartments. The lower flat is listed on airbnb as Beach Cottage. Both properties have separate street and beach access and the right side of the garden is for the use of the lower flat while the left is for the Weaver’s Cottage. There is a shared utility shed with washing machine and dryer.
Explore the beaches and coastal path and breathe the fresh, salty air. The adventurous can try the chain walk en route to Elie, or take the coastal path, have lunch at the 19th Hole pub, and get the bus back. Climb Largo Law for some stunning views.
  • Beautiful cabin and beautiful location! Would highly recommend.

  • Stayed here for one night for my partners 30th, what a great little spot! So peaceful and cosy just what we wanted, love that the beach was right on the door step! Caron was more than helpful with any questions we had. Would 100% stay again!

    Katie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy cottage in a great location. The beach is literally steps away, if only the weather had been better for our stay. The cottage was great, had everything we needed. Would love to stay again during the summer.

    Claire2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy place right by the beach. The burner was easy to light and really warm. Cute little cottage in a great spot; lovely dog friendly pub nearby and a great base for exploring the East Neuk of Fife. The cottage had all that we needed. Thanks Caron for sharing this cottage!

    Aimee2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location, right by the beach, you see the sea from the window and can hear the waves. The log burner was the highlight and the space worked really well. Hope to stay again

    Bruno2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Another great time spent at Weavers Cottage. This is such a great little find, from cuddling up in front of the fire to watching beautiful sunrises from the bottom of your own wee garden as the waves crash against the shore you even have your own private gate onto the beach. Such a beautiful cottage in a such a beautiful location.

    Carrie2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great wee stay away. Log fire was the perfect touch on a wet and windy winters night. Will be back in the summer!

    Michaela2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay and we were so sad to leave. It was so beautiful and cosy and made the perfect stay for our weekend away. Caron was so helpful with ideas of what to do and allowed us to check in earlier. We can't fault it at all. Thank you so much!

Oak panelled walls, wooden window shutters, and warm parquet floors surround you. Choose from hundreds of books and read in a secret bed box behind floor-to-ceiling shelves. Family portraits and heirlooms happily coexist with works of modern art.
Romantic and stylish apartment, It's the perfect base from which to explore Edinburgh from. I've already had some great people come and stay, so I welcome you to my home. Edinburgh castle is a short walk away from the apartment, and the National Gallery, St Giles Cathedral, National Museum of Scotland are all close by. My apartment is on the fourth floor of an 18th Century tenement with views on to the historic Royal Mile. With all mod cons and a unique location, this is the perfect apartment to have as a base while you explore Edinburgh. The apartment retains the unique character of the Old Town with oak panelled walls and parquet flooring, mixed with family portraits, antiques and works of art, but also all the modern comforts of a home. It is on the fourth floor and is reached by a spiral staircase (76 steps in all!) For our American cousins that's a walkup :-) There is no elevator. The apartment is South facing and full of light by day. The hall has a cupboard to hang clothes/store shoes etc. There is also an ironing board/iron and a hair dryer kept here as well. The bathroom has a bath and a shower, there is always hot water and plenty of towels for you to have. Then through the main door off the hall, is the open plan living space. Five full height original Georgian sash windows face you as you walk into the space. Floor to ceiling book cases and a large period fireplace with French empire over-mantle mirror. There is free wifi throughout the apartment, also a big collection of fiction/history/cookery/poetry/art/design books to while away the time with and I have a music/radio player with an eclectic choice of C.Ds. Plus cards and board games. A large kitchen space with character and all the modern cons - toaster, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven, kettle, induction hob etc. However I don't own a microwave. There is a washing machine and there is washing liquid capsules for it under the sink, just put one of these inside the washing machine drum and close the door and turn to what ever setting you want. I do not have a dryer (it's not that typical here in Scotland/Europe) what I do have is a clothes horses which you can hang your clothes on. Their kept folded up in the hall cupboard. I hate staying in apartments on holiday where there aren't even any basics to cook with like salt and olive oil, so the kitchen is stocked with all the usual larder fare to help yourself to if you're cooking in. Plus coffee and all sorts of teas. I also have an honesty bar if you want to finish off with a drink or two after a long day of walking around town. By the windows is the generous dining space with oak dinning table and six chairs. The bed is a unique 'bedbox chamber' made from architectural salvaged fitted Scottish 18th/19th century carved oak. A floor to ceiling hidden panelled door lets you into this cosy space with reading lights on the headboard and it is fitted out with a British king size mattress - width 150cm and length 200cm, white cotton sheets, pillows and duvet. Mary Queen of Scots would feel quite at home sleeping in it! The living room area of the apartment is tucked at the West side of the room and has two good size sofas, reading lamps and is perfect to socialize in and also have quiet time with a good book. I hope to hear from you. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or give advice about Edinburgh/restaurants/bars etc All the best Calim
Edinburgh is beautiful and historic. This apartment is in the oldest part of the city, close to the castle. Museums, restaurants, and good coffee shops are really close by, as are the train station and airport links.
  • Absolutely amazing stay, like stepping back through time! Fantastic location and the decor was amazing. So much attention to detail and so many thoughtful extra touches! We will 100% be back!

  • My favorite place I’ve stayed with Airbnb so far! The entire apartment was full of charm and character. Such thoughtful details, easy communication and beautiful location. Loved watching snow fall over Royal Mile from the warmth of the cozy couch with a book in hand! Calim was an amazing host and made everything super easy.

    Hannah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is absolutely beautiful and has everything you could possibly want or need! Calim is a fantastic host who made us feel very welcome and looked after. I am so looking forward to visiting Edinburgh and staying in this apartment again in the future. Highly recommend!

    Liala2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Calim’s dreamy place was exceptional. He has gone above and beyond to consider all the details to make sure your stay is perfect- before and during you’re stay. I loved opening my eyes each morning to the magnificent paintings, the chandelier and the sounds of bag pipes from the street. Hours passed one evening whilst flicking through Calim’s vast bookshelves with the Robert’s radio going in the background. Just perfect.

    Lydia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This space could be your vacation! Arrive - make a wonderful coffee or pour a glass of wine - curl up in one of the two beautiful couches... and choose a book or many! The view from the multiple windows is stunning! And the artwork! This apartment rises to the top of my list as one of the most inspiring spaces I have stayed in! It is stunning! Location could not be better - Edinburgh is a beautiful city and will be right out your doorstep if you are lucky enough to stay here! Enjoy!

    Keli2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible stay in the heart of the Royal Mile. Calim went above and beyond to make my three days in Edinburgh comfortable and secure -- including some fantastic recommendations of local eateries and attractions. Cannot recommend highly enough!

    Mick2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best AirBnb we’ve stayed in!! Calim’s attention to detail and thoughtful touches as well as the spectacular decor make this stay extra special. Would highly recommend and love to stay again!

Historic stone dovecot. Illuminated ancient pigeon nesting-boxes. Serene rustic-chic. Heated floors. Stunning, quirky & sophisticated. Quietly thrilling. Tiny bedroom in tower with double bed & garden view. Pull-out sofa-bed downstairs (115cms w. mattress). Ground floor bathroom. Bespoke kitchen beneath mezzanine. Counter-tops of slabs of tree that once grew in the garden. Lit cavern under sturdy glass floor-panel. Tranquil private scented garden terrace. Skilfully designed, this is a bright captivating little treasure. Central heating. Wood-burner. CCTV. Free parking. 20mins walk to centre.
This small stone cottage, that was once a home for pigeons, is self-contained. It is historically fascinating and architecturally intriguing with stone doorways, beautiful old wood beams and wooden steps. Within an extensive mature walled garden, a stone path leads under a rose-arch to the quaint 1600s cottage. A glass front door opens into an enchanting calm atmosphere. Beneath part of the floor, under sturdy glass, an ancient vaulted cavern can be glimpsed below. Above, in the tower, is a tiny loft bedroom with a double bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, and a window overlooking the private garden. Illuminated ancient nesting boxes line the walls. It is quiet. Next, on the ground floor, is a bright sitting/ dining room with original stone walls, a high ceiling and skylights. Beneath a small mezzanine is the neat bespoke L-shaped kitchen, rustic-style, with a fridge, 2-ring gas hob, microwave and convection oven, kettle and toaster. Counter-tops and the table are made from slabs of a cedar tree that once grew in the garden. The building is 2.4m wide. The wood-burning stove is opposite a pull-out sofa-bed (115cms wide mattress), and the whole ground floor has underfloor heating as well as gas central heating. The wood-lined bathroom, with a luxuriously large wet-room style shower, has a skylight with views of apple tree branches. A chunk of cedar wood, with the bark retained, contains the basin. Skilfully designed, this is a captivating little treasure. It is an extraordinary and rare delight that will enchant guests.
Secluded, yet within 5 minutes walk of the upmarket, lively, fashionable districts of Bruntsfield and Morningside where there are plenty of cool cafes and good restaurants plus supermarkets and specialist shops. 20mins easy walk to city centre or by frequent nearby buses. One parking space for an ordinary sized car. Long or high vehicles will not fit because there is a very sharp left turn at the entrance and overhanging branches.
  • Beautiful place to stay, great location and lovely host.

  • This is an absolutely stunning cottage in the heart of Edinburgh. Within walking distance of the Old and New Town, it is easy to get to everything you will need for a very enjoyable stay. And for those of you who are not as familiar with the area, the owner does an amazing job of providing information on restaurants, attractions, etc. From the spacious shower to the heated floors to the fireplace and the loft bed, everything has been meticulously thought and offered. It was quite windy and rainy during our visit, but we stayed snug and warm in the dovecot. An amazing place and highly recommended!

    Jennifer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special little place in a great location - in a large private garden yet minutes from great cafes and access to the city. We adored the cottage - a complete one off and what I think Airbnb is really all about. Highly recommended as a romantic bolt hole for couples - but we actually had our son too and it had plenty comfy space for us all. Loved it.

    Carron2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! This dovecot is full of charm. This was one of the most unique Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed in. We really enjoyed our time and could not recommend it enough. Sarah is also a thoughtful and attentive host. Thank you for everything!

  • A lovely quiet retreat that is close to Edinburgh and Morningside (lots of lovely bakeries, cafes and restaurants) The cottage is warm, comfortable and a special place to stay. Sarah was lovely and very nice to talk to. We would definitely stay here again!

Gaze out across the rooftops from this bright upstairs flat. The space features a unique mix of antique and modern furnishings, an open-plan living area, a large skylight, a cosy minimalist kitchen, and pops of colour throughout.
My apartment is on the top floor of an 18th Century tenement. With all mod cons and a unique location, this is the perfect apartment to have as a base while you explore Edinburgh. The apartment retains the unique character of the Old Town with oak parquet flooring, wooden window shutters in the bedroom and a mix of contemporary and antique furniture throughout. It is on the fifth floor and is reached by a spiral turnpike staircase (102 steps in all!) For our American cousins that's a walkup :-) There is NO LIFT/ELEVATOR so if you have very large/heavy luggage or struggle with stairs this isn't the place for you to stay and I'd advise booking a ground floor apartment. Edinburgh in general, never caught up with installing lifts in its buildings. The apartment is at the end of the row and South facing, so gets lots of light throughout the day. The apartment has cupboard space for your luggage and places to hang clothes/store shoes etc. There is also an ironing board/iron. The bathroom has a shower, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/toothpaste. There is always plenty of towels for you to have. The hairdryer is kept in the cupboard under the sink. I don't own a TV.... but there is free wifi throughout the apartment. I've a big collection of fiction/history/cookery/poetry/art/photography books to while away the time with. I also have a music/radio player with an eclectic choice of C.Ds. Plus cards and board games. A large kitchen space with character and all the modern cons - toaster, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven, kettle, induction hob etc. There is no microwave. There is a washing machine and there is washing liquid capsules for it under the sink, just put one of these inside the washing machine drum and close the door and turn to what ever setting you want. I do not have a dryer (it's not that typical here in Scotland/Europe) what I do have is a clothes horse which you can hang your clothes on. It's kept folded up in the hall cupboard. I hate staying in apartments on holiday where there aren't even any basics to cook with like salt and olive oil, so the kitchen is stocked with all the usual larder fare to help yourself to if you're cooking in. Plus coffee and all sorts of teas. There is a dinning table and chairs. The bedroom is tucked off the hall and has reading lights and a comfortable British king size mattress width 150cm X length 200cm, with white cotton sheets, pillows and duvet. The living room area of the apartment is at the front with lots of light and a good view of the Old College dome. A good size sofa, armchairs, reading lights and is perfect to come back to after a day in town. I hope to hear from you. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or give advice about Edinburgh/restaurants/bars etc All the best Calim
The National Museum of Scotland is merely yards away from the apartment, and The Royal Mile and Castle are just a few minutes walk away. Live Scottish folk music can be found at the local pub as well as one of the best city coffee shops Brew Lab on the street.
  • Look no more. This is THE place.

    Heidi2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful apartment in a very central location. The apartment was very clean and tidy, it had great decor and many thoughtful touches. I would happily return in the future.

    Frances2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of an apartment, perfectly positioned to explore the beautiful Edinburgh. Calim couldn’t have been a more thoughtful and accommodating host for our stay, with the most amazing final touches. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable and cosy place to chill out after a long day exploring!

    Ailish2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts don’t get better than Calim and I’m yet to find a more comfortable and stylish apartment to stay in. I can’t wait to come back and stay here again.

    Anna2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure for us to live there. It was clean, well furnished and there have never been so many extras anywhere else. Just a great host. We would come back anytime if we were allowed to.

    Felix2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best Airbnb I have stayed in. The location was perfect and the decor within the home was beautiful, stylish, and comfortable. But what really made this Airbnb so special was the extra accommodations Calim made as a host. When bad weather was on the horizon before my trip, Calim called me to let me know of any potential train cancellations and offered to postpone my stay in Edinburgh. He even found me places around London that I could lodge in for one more evening due to the last minute weather crisis. Then when I actually arrived the next day, Calim had shortbread prepared for me and opera playing on the stereo. He was also available whenever I had any questions about the city — whether it be food or activity recommendations as well as general city questions. Truly an amazing host and would absolutely stay in this place again.

    Claire2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic apartment in such a great location. The apartment is incredibly decorated with a lot of thoughtful touches provided by Calim. We will definitely be back!

    Rebecca2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly this place is the most tastefully decorated home I have ever been in to. I didn't even want to go outside, I could have sat in there forever just reading books, sipping tea out of glass cups and staring out of the sash windows. The location is astounding and although the stairs are many, they give the most beautiful view. Absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect.

Detached studio with majestic, cliff top views over Lochbay and Waternish to the village of Stein & across the sea to the Outer Hebrides. We have the most amazing sunsets! Open plan, cosy, yet light and airy; a peaceful haven in which to relax. We've tried to create self catering, that is a tad out of the ordinary, with funky textiles & quirky local touches. Modern facilities, huge drench shower, dishwasher, log burner, free wi-fi. Huge Overwater House, next door, for a couple, also available.
The larch clad studio was designed by us to make the most of fabulous views. The living space is dominated by the huge window, right next to this is the comfy couch. The ceiling is high to create a light and airy feel to the compact, open plan studio. The oak floor helps to give the space a feeling of warmth and luxury. Opposite the couch, in the corner, is the log burning stove and on the same wall the tv. The kitchen is well equipped with a vintage oak table at which to eat. Everything in the studio has been made or chosen with love & care. We've consciously tried to avoid the neutral, high street look. The bed is king-sized with Egyptian cotton bedding. Included in the price is free WiFi. There is a small decking area on the sea side for guests to sit out on. The garden is enclosed. There is a privacy fence to shield the studio from the house next door. Logs are also provided for the stove and all electricity is included. The bathroom has a huge, walk in, drench shower. We’re not fans of fabric conditioners or tumble dryers so although the towels are Egyptian Cotton, they’re not the softest.
Waternish, in the north of the island, is one of the most beautiful parts of the Isle of Skye. It has magnificent views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. Blue Moon studio has undoubtedly one of the finest views on Waternish. Sit by the huge window & enjoy the constantly changing light on the water. There are wonderful boat trips from the local jetty. We're close to Stein with the oldest pub on Skye & Michael Smith's, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. Skye is 'foodie' heaven!
  • Blue Moon Studio was the perfect space for us to relax for a long weekend up on Skye. The view from the living room will be extremely difficult to leave. David & Jayne’s local knowledge helped us massively as it was our first time visiting Skye.

    Joe2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place - amazing location, house lovely and had everything you need with a fully equipped kitchen. Lovely wood burning stove. Beautifully decorated lots of good information and gave us good advice on local running routes! Hope to visit again in the summer!

    Zoe2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended - accommodation, location, special touches, wealth of useful info and tips for things to see and do. Will be adding an 'owner biography' page to my cottage folder - such a clever touch if you like the full picture!

  • An excellent place to stay on Skye. Close enough to Portree but in a quiet location with beautiful views. The accommodation was top notch with great little touches to make it comfortable and homely.

    Guy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio is like staying in a small slice of heaven. When we arrive we were welcomed with a lovely hand written note, wine, and buttery short bread cookies. It’s located above a peninsula next door to a property with gorgeous highland sheep dotted all over the land. The wall along the combined kitchen and living space is a huge window overlooking the water. There’s a wood stove with plenty of wood that is cozy and comforting. The entire studio is filled with local art, pottery, blankets, pillows, and such. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. In fact we only dined out one time in the four days we were there. The bed is dreamy, we would’ve been happy to just stay in that bed all day..... but there are so many beautiful things to see and do in the surrounding areas, we made ourselves get up! Robby and I stay in Airbnb’s whenever we travel and we have to say this place is one of the best places we’ve ever experienced. We are already planning our next visit. If you want rest, relaxation, and peace, this is your spot! Cheers!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Skye. The studio was beautiful and it was obvious a lot of love had gone into creating the space. David & Jayne were great hosts. We highly recommended a stay at the blue moon studio!

A short distance from the southern tip of Loch Lomond, you will find Loch Lomond Luxury Treehouse. A stunning, private two person wooden house built into a tree overlooking a mature, magical garden. It can be made up with two single beds or a kingsize bed. Dogs are very welcome.
The Treehouse is a solidly built wooden garden home, well heated and insulated, with all you might expect of a good quality hotel room. It is built around a tree, with a substantial walkway/deck around it, accessible via log steps. The deck is a private area for the use of Treehouse guests, and it has all the comforts of a home under the sun or stars. • Beautiful tree house very cosy .choc wine nice touch I love that you have stuff for sale saves going to shop. We will be back

    Tracy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights in the treehouse and loved every minute of it. Despite menacing weather from Storm Dennis, we still managed to have the log burner on both nights for a few hours and enjoyed the lovely tranquil surroundings. The treehouse has everything we needed for a very comfortable stay, the space was very clean, breakfast was perfect and the personal touches made it special. We walked to Drymen on our first day and had a great lunch at the Clachan Inn. Thanks Katrina, we’ll be back.

    Gary2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant location and treehouse had everything you could need and was spotless. Felt very cosy (and we had booked the weekend storm Ciara hit!) however the wind and the rain werent an issue and we had a great weekend at the treehouse! Cannot recommend booking is place enough.

    Emma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina's place is super cozy and comfortable. We had the best night sleep

    Richard2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina’s place is perfect for a short getaway! The treehouse is next to two pods so would be ideal for a break with some friends. She’s thought of everything you’d need, there’s a store with board games, tourist guides, extra beer/wine for sale, logs etc for the wood burner, and inside the treehouse she’s provided a speaker, toiletries and even a coffee machine. The treehouse itself is designed to a very high spec and is so cosy with lots of blankets and a heater. Breakfast is a lovely extra touch. We could have stayed for much longer if we had the time! Thanks Katrina 😊

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

    Lisa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

    Jane2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was wonderful. We wanted peace and quiet and that was exactly what we got. We arrived in the dark so didn't see much of the view from the drive down. But the following day was a real treat! The directions to the Bothy were clear and precise and we found it in the dark with very little trouble. Logs and kindling were plentiful, so each evening we had a fire and heated up the hot tub twice. The shower and toilet were very clean and only a short walk away from the Bothy. A great place to stay, fantastic location and well worth the drive from the village.

    Sarah-Jane2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Situated in a beautiful area and super quirky inside. Great place to come to get away from it all for a few days. Will be back again soon. Maybe have a few more cooking utensils in the kitchen but that’s just a minor thing. This place is truly stunning and is a real home away from home.

Low profile cars travel up it every day but you need to take care! Between the months of October and April (winter) you are literally right next to the cows. They moo and smell. Big John is up to feed the cows between 7am and 8am. He tries to keep the noise to a minimum but you will likely hear him on the tractor. We want to offer something a bit different and unique and we have hundreds of customers who really enjoy a luxury oasis in the middle of a farm but we accept it is not for everybody. We are not wishing to offend anyone with this statement but we want you to be aware! Your welcome to ask any questions you may have before you book. —— We have an online farm shop so we can provide you with our home grown eggs, beef, lamb and pork as either breakfast packs, BBQ packs for the summer nights or individual meat cuts and pies. We can also supply home made cakes to order. We are close to a number of activities which you may want to enjoy; Loudoun Golf Club, Arranview Fisheries, Newmilns dry Ski Slope, Whitelees Wind Farm and various wedding venues. Galston and Newmilns are a short car drive away and as well as supermarkets, they have a number of take aways and other locally run shops and services. For those travelling from Further afield, Glasgow centre, Glasgow airport and Prestwick Airport are approximately 30 minutes away, Troon beach is 20 minutes and Mauchline is 15 minutes. We can cater for babies / young children so if you need a high chair and travel cot please let us know. No additional people in the lodge for any duration of time without prior approval please. Dogs are welcome for an additional cleaning fee of £10/dog per night. We ask that they do not go on the furniture or in the bath / hot tub. Please bring your own dog bed and food with you. We live on site and have young children so please be respectful of the noise and keep it to a minimum after 10pm The hot tub and hot water are heated by biomass, a renewable energy source and electricity which powers your space is run by solar panels too! where possible we have utilised recycled items to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us for more information Thank you for taking the time to read our profile!
We are located in Newmilns, Ayrshire and to get to us you come off the A719 from Glasgow to Galston. We have an online farm shop which supplies our own farm produce, beef, pork, lamb and eg
  • The cottage is so cute and cosy and has the best neighbours (some very friendly cows). My friends and I loved the thoughtful touches such as the homemade cupcakes and fresh milk which were left in the fridge. The hot tub was great and Jessica was also so friendly and helpful. My friends and I had a lovely time and we will definitely be back!

It was something a little different which we actually enjoyed. Fast replied when contacting Jessica, the host and she was more than accommodating. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend x

The bed is DREAMY. Sadly the weather was mid storm when we went but didn’t stop us warming our bones in the hot tub! X

Found it really easy to get to and was well sign posted on the way, the host was excellent very easy to get hold of and the little bottle of milk was a nice touch. Would recommend this wee get away as you would not be disappointed and has given me and my friends an amazing weekend! Thanks again!

  • Lovely place to stay, very cosy with everything you could need. The cottage has amazing views, and we loved watching Anita and Bruce's dogs playing outside. Bruce was very helpful when it snowed the morning we were due to leave, dug our car out and advised us on the safest road to take to the main road. We will definitely be back in the better weather!

    Katherine2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was extremely cosy and clean, and provided a wonderful base for our trip to the Pennines. Lots of great walks nearby, and Anita and Bruce were available if we had any questions. Homemade bread on arrival was a lovely touch - would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice, quiet retreat.

  • My partner and I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Butterfly Cottage. We were visiting during Storm Dennis but it was still stunning in the snow! Anita and Bruce gave us tips on walks we could do near by and we were happy enough to sit and enjoy the cottage when the weather was really nasty! Perfect location, perfect hosts, perfect place to stay! Thanks both :)

    Alicia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Another visit to the beautiful Butterfly Cottage. Perfect in every way. Snug and cosy for our snowy stay. Thank you both for being perfect hosts and thanks to Bruce for providing a spade to help dig our car out of the snow...although we did not want to leave. See you again.

  • The cottage was beautiful, spotless, warm and cosy. The views were spectacular, the cottage is in a beautiful valley.

Situated between Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh, our remote bed and breakfast has stunning views and you'll get a lovely homemade breakfast with fresh eggs from our chickens! Please note we are in a remote place and are ten minutes drive from restaurants and shops. Please print out the location instructions before your trip as sometimes GPS is not accurate.
Our detached, contemporary house is set just a few metres from the sea, in a tiny hamlet called Port an Eorna and it is only three miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, which is where you cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, so it is an ideal base for exploring Skye and the other lovely villages in this area such as Torridon and Applecross. Breakfast is served in the kitchen overlooking the sea and includes home made bread, home made yoghurt and home made granola - all made by Lynne - as well as fruit, cheese, continental meats, cereal, orange juice, tea, coffee, toast, jam, marmalade and pastries (sometimes homemade!). We also have a few hens so if you want some eggs for breakast, just ask! There are three restaurants near us - just two miles away - in the village of Plockton. When you are in the house you do not have to stay in your room. Our lounge has two huge corner windows, with two cosy armchairs so you are very welcome to sit in it and look at the scenery or read or just completely relax. The views are gorgeous and if you want to go for a short walk there is a very nice one outside and you can see beautiful views of the Isle of Skye. There is a private bathroom directly next door to the bedroom which guests will have sole use of and it has a huge shower with a rainforest shower head.
This is a remote neighbourhood - ten minutes drive from any restaurants or shops. It is very tranquil - there are just four detached houses at the end of a single track road - so you can totally relax and enjoy peace and quiet and nature.
  • What can I say- a truly wonderful stay with some truly wonderful people (including Casper the dog!) Lynne and Darren's home is positioned in the most beautiful landscape imaginable and their lovely modern home makes full use of this view and environment, with very large windows that look out onto unbeatable views. Perched on the edge of the sea, there is always something to look at- an ever changing piece of art. The bedroom is a comfortable space with a large bed and storage, but to be honest we didn't spend any time here unless we were sleeping. This is because Lynne and Darren very kindly give their guests full use of their living space, with stunning views and log burner. The kitchen adjoins this lounge space, so Lynne and Darren were around this space to make food occasionally etc and say hello, but this living space would otherwise be yours to use. Likewise the bathroom next to your bedroom is a lovely functional space, with walk-in shower, and you will have sole use of this during your stay. The kitchen is where Lynne would prepare lovely breakfasts for us each morning. We were spoilt with homemade bread, yoghurt, jams and granola. Cheeses and meats were laid on, as were Lynne's home grown eggs! We also had pastries, buns or crumpets etc on other mornings- we never never short of lovely things to eat. When Lynne and Darren were around they would offer tea and always check in with us. Lynne's home is a croft, and so there are a number of animals around the house! We had a lot of fun watching her chickens and small flock of sheep carry out their daily routines, and we had a lot of entertainment from getting to know their rescue dog Casper. The position of the house makes it ideally placed to walk/ drive to a variety of beauty spots, whether that is a coastal walk around the local peninsula, or a walk into the nearby village of Plockton (which has a number of lovely pubs and places to pick up supplies). You can't help but fall out of the house into the gorgeous countryside! Lynne was on hand to recommend local walks to us during our stay, and we couldn't get enough of exploring the local area. This is a rural location, so if you want to make the most of your stay, bring some walking boots and get ready to explore some incredible scenery first hand! Can't recommend Lynne and Darren's lovely home enough- if you book your stay with them, you won't be disappointed!

  • Our stay here was amazing. The hosts are wonderful, and helped to provide a great experience, serving delicious food, and are knowledgable about the area and generous with their time. The house is located in a gorgeous setting close to the Isle of Skye. Highly recommend

    Remy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing stay at Lynne and Darren’s! The view is next to none, and the ease to get around is great. So peaceful and pristine, and the home is so cozy and a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Loved getting to know the hosts and share some stories over a cuppa!

    Ange2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We loved staying with Lynne, Darren, and Casper! The house has a stunning view of the sea and its cozy seating areas give you the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Their hospitality is off the charts and we can not recommend a better place to stay. We’re already trying to figure out when we can return!

    Kate2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is such an amazing host. Staying was as comfortable as being at home, and the place is absolutely incredible. There are short walks to take right from the house, and it is ideal to get to Skye, if that is your destination. Lynne also had great tips for where to visit and where to eat. If we are back in the area, we would definitely stay again.

    Jason2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dreamy location, excellent hosts with good local tips and eclectic conversation. I could sit at those magnificent windows all day if there wasnt so much to see locally.

    Eric2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay if you wish to spend a day or more exploring Skye! You will have a fantastic drive through the Highlands to get here. (We recommended arriving during daylight unless you are an experienced driver!) The property itself and the views each morning are wonderful and worth exploring before you even go out for the day. Lovely cafe nearby and we enjoyed the restaurants in Plockton. Lynne is easy to get to know and makes you feel at ease and welcome at all times! Breakfast each morning is enjoyable, especially the eggs from her chickens! Sheep and Highland cows greet you each day as well. A place for animal lovers in a rural environment. The bed and bath area are in a private area of the house, but we felt welcome in the living and kitchen area and enjoyed our time in the chairs looking at the view and enjoying the fire each night.

    Becca2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts cannot say thank you enough for making us feel so welcome, this really is a B&B with a difference Lynne, Darren and Casper have the X factor. Wonderful setting amazing views we just hope we can come back sooner rather than later!

  • Had a great stay here, very easy to find with google maps and well organised on arrival. We were provided with everything we needed for a quiet night away! (including helpful tractor ride to the hut!) We would definitely book again - hopefully with better weather!

  • Fabulous host Jared took us up to the hut via tractor which was an added bonus Just one with nature and the stars were perfect .... shooting stars galore .... despite the freezing chill and wind it was cosy and warm in the hut with the peat burning stove. Away from electricity and Wi-fi and a night under the stars was just what the doctor ordered. We will be back Go check it out

  • Beth’s Bothy is a fantastic snug which has been very well designed to maximise the space. It has everything you would need for a relaxing few days away including cooking facilities, TV, wifi and an amazing hot tub. There are lots of walks nearby and some lovely restaurants and pubs in Gatehouse of Fleet which is about a 15 - 20 minute walk away through the woods or on the main road. The snug was very clean and the hot tub is checked daily by the host and drained and refilled after each visit. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub each night and looking up to the stars which were crystal clear. Even in the low February temperatures, the hot tub stayed consistently warm and lovely. The host also left some home baked scones and fresh flowers for our arrival which was a great touch and very much appreciated. All in all, this is a great place to stay and we highly recommend it!

Nestled in the Cairngorms National Park, The Steading (Scottish for converted Barn) was recently converted to a high standard. It provides a spacious, light and cosy cottage base with which to explore the local area. Extremely warm, with fabulous fire in the lounge and sky lights in all the rooms. The cottage provides easy access to mountain biking, Hill walking and climbing. The views of the National Park are stunning and the local countryside is home to many moorland birds and wildlife.
  • A beautiful cottage in the most incredible setting. We were lucky enough to have snow throughout our stay. The cottage has every amenity you can think of, even some cooking oil, salt and pepper. It really was a lovely cosy stay for a winter getaway

They drove all the way from the south west but would do it again! The pictures and videos she sent of their trip here looked amazing! It has made me and my husband want to book now!

  • We loved staying at Grants place and want to go back already! The house is beautifully designed, full of interesting artwork with the most amazing views out of every window. The house is so warm and cosy and we enjoyed lighting the fire and listening to the crazy wind and rain that we had. The instructions to get there were very clear so we found the house very easily and the location is great to visit the rest of Skye. There is a coffee shop and a pub just down the road (unfortunately didn’t get to go to either but they looked great!) I would 100% recommend staying here!

Would definitely come back.

An original Skye Croft House, overlooking Loch Harport & views to the Cuillins. Its just a three minute drive from the village of Carbost with its Old Inn & the Talisker Distillery, furnished with my mix of old with modern & of course the essential log fire
Bright, , not a drop of tartan in sight, a calm house with lots of space for 4, room enough for the children inside and a private garden for them to burn off energy,, for older kids and adults the land all around is open access, just remember its "working" land so you will share it with sheep!
Absolute silence, the constantly changing light on the water and mountains.
  • We had a really great stay at Grant's place. We were there during Storm Dennis, which included there being a lightning strike which knocked the power out in the whole village for about 5 hours. Grant messaged straight away to check we were ok - we got the wood burner going and had a nice cosy evening by the fire! The house is lovely, really spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Had everything we needed, really good cooking equipment etc. Even though we were there when it was pretty cold outside, it was always lovely and warm when the heating was on or the fire was lit. We'd definitely recommend the cottage, and might look to come back again (maybe when there are fewer weather warnings out..!)

  • Outstanding property in a fantastic location: there are sea views from every room. A thoughtful conversion of a traditional croft, with stylish decor and original touches: modern, but cosy at the same time. This place is very special, one of the best holiday-let properties I’ve stayed in, anywhere. Thank you Grant, had a great short break, hope to return soon.

    Jonathan2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The BEST place to stay while on Skye. It’s in a great little town that is pretty central to everything. And it’s only about 4 mins behind Talisker! So everyday on our way out, we would get out and smell that glorious smell... and of course we did a tour too. The house is clean and stylish. Grant has made it a homey and convenient place to stay. Everything you’ll need to cook dinner, cozy up next to the fire, and enjoy a nice evening. Best nights sleep we had our whole trip! Great bedding, pillows, and mattress. Grant was a great host!

    Chelsea2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautifully restored and good size for a party of 4. We enjoyed the living area with stove and the views. Good location to use as homebase to explore the island (+ coffee shop nearby). Some impracticalities could be addressed eg more kitchen utensils and dishware, the single beds are quite hard and the pillows very flat.

    Maxime2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful Christmas staying at Grant's house. It's immaculately clean, beautifully located and manages to be both extremely stylish, and super comfortable. The living room is warm, welcoming and has the best views (count the Cuillins), plus a very generous supply of logs and kindling (not that they're needed with the heating on, but it's nice to add to the cosiness). As cooks we enjoyed the spacious kitchen with its amazing views (be aware there is no freezer so if you want ice for your drinks grab from the co-op). The bedrooms have lovely comfy beds, lots of storage and high quality bed linen, and the bathroom has a wonderful deep bath. All in, Grant is a really excellent host who has created a very special house in a very special spot.

The Hobbit house with its round door is straight out of Middle Earth! It is close to the sea, the beach and the mountains. It has a spectacular view of Beinn na Cailleach (Hill of the Old Woman). 'The Old Woman' was a Norse princess (Skye once belonged to Norway) .The Hobbit House is NOT suitable for pets, sorry! The first thing you should do is download the map from our photo gallery. Satnav doesn't work here!
The Hobbit house is good for couples and solo adventurers. There is a double bed with egyptian cotton sheets and pocket-sprung mattress. It's heated by a halogen heater and oil-filled radiator, and there is a BBQ outside! For cosy nights in there is a flat screen Internet TV for streaming BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime.

  • The Hobbit house is a truly unique and wonderful place to stay. A modern construction but with bags of character, isolated yet close to the town of Broadford for avoid range of amenities and serves as a good Hun for travelling to and from Skye and is on a major route to get to the isles hotspots. We were there during a big storm and despite the place getting bashed around in the wind place was, well insolated, warm and cosy, and has everything you need for your stay. The kitchen facilities are basic, as to be expected for this kind of property but we still managed to russle up a steak dinner and cooked breakfast everyday with no issues. Lovely hosts as well and some good tips in the guest book. A truly memorable, first class experience.

  • Great little setup if you want to visit Skye. We arrived along with storm Ciara and it kept us safe, dry and cosy. Facilities are great, all the standard stuff but nice extras like heaters and dehumidifiers so we were able to dry off easily after we got in after a day out. Would definitely revisit next time we head up to Skye

The self catered unit has a kitchen with induction hob and oven and fridge / freezer and en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower. Super comfy King sized bed and sofa bed in an open plan space with underfloor heating throughout Private deck and parking area We welcome families with children and pets.
Our newly renovated lodge is next to the farm house and in summer it overlooks our cows happily grazing in the field! As well as a hot tub the decking area has a fire pit. You will also have your own private entrance with parking. The king sized bed is a pocket sprung medium firmness mattress which hopefully accommodates most people. The sheets are cotton satin to give a luxurious feel - and most importantly, a good nights sleep! There is a 40inch TV in the lodge and Wifi too. Due to our location its not superfast but is sufficient for most activities. We can cater for babies / young children so if you need a high chair and travel cot please let us know. No additional people in the lodge for any duration of time without prior approval please. Dogs are welcome for an additional fee of £10/dog per night. We ask that they do not go on the furniture or in the bath / hot tub. Please bring your own dog bed and food with you. We have an online farm shop so we can provide you with our home grown eggs, beef, lamb and pork as either breakfast packs, BBQ packs for the summer nights or individual meat cuts and pies. We can also supply home made cakes to order. We are close to a number of activities which you may want to enjoy; Loudoun Golf Club, Arranview Fisheries, Newmilns dry Ski Slope, Whitelees Wind Farm and various wedding venues. Galston is a short car drive away and as well as supermarkets, it has a number of take aways and other locally run shops and services. For those travelling from Further afield, Glasgow centre, Glasgow airport and Prestwick Airport are approximately 30 minutes away, Troon beach is 20 minutes and Mauchline is 15 minutes. Please be aware that we have neighbours so ask guests to respect that and it is a working farm so sometimes you will hear farm machinery / animals! To get to us you will need to drive up our farm track. This is 330m and like most farm tracks whilst we devote a lot of time to its upkeep there may be a few potholes! The hot tub, underfloor heating and hot water are all generated by biomass, a renewable energy source which powers the farms hot water too. Where possible we have used recycled and sustainably sourced materials throughout the build. We have also used as much recycled furniture as possible to keep its carbon footprint to a minimum. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us for more information Thank you for taking the time to read our profile!

  • Hazels Lodge was beautiful, clean and the perfect place for a romantic and relaxing getaway. The hot tub was fantastic and it’s great how it is built into the floor so doesn’t require awkward and cold attempts at getting in and out. The lodge itself is beautifully designed and has a homely and cosy feel. Slight small touches missed but nothing major as it didn’t impact our overall stay. Hopefully we can return again soon!

The Bothy is a self-contained wooden cabin on the edge of our own woodland at West Cottage and Stables, nestling in the heart of Glen Lyon and at the beginning of many excellent walks and cycle rides. There's a double bed, extra bed, luxury bathroom, and wood burning stove. Most guests choose self-catering (there's a hob, fridge, and everything you need to cook with) at our base price. We can provide breakfast (£7.50 per person) and/or a dinner (£20 per person) if you'd prefer.
It's a cosy single-room cabin set up for self catering with small loft space, and a luxurious shower room and toilet. There's a wood-burning stove for heat and a small kitchen area. The floor is stone and the walls are wooden. There is a bed and a comfortable sofa bed for children or if you'd prefer a twin setup too.
We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains. You will see red squirrels, deer, many birds, hedgehogs. A stream runs down the side of the property and if it's hot you can have a dip. Have a look at PH15 2PL on G. Earth and you'll see what we mean. From the Bothy you have the woods on one side, a view up the Glen to the east on the other. Come in Spring and enjoy the bluebells and baby birds. Or summer, for swimming in the Invervar Burn and the drone of bees. Or Autumn, for wild mushrooms and the colours of the trees all down the Glen. Or winter, for snowy walks and cosy fires and perhaps a wee dram...
  • Great place and location. Would definitely recommend

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely charming little cabin getaway! Exactly what my partner and I wanted. This Bothy is in a stunning location with lots of walking straight out the door. The space was cosy and comfortable, and has everything you need to cook! We didn’t even use the stove.. opting to cook on the wood stove top instead! Wished we had stayed longer!

    Annabel2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just had a fantastic stay in the Bothey. The place is set with mountains either side which make for amazing views. We took a walk straight to the back of the woods on the property. From there we ended up a couple of mountains with unbelievable views down the Glen. The Bothey itself is small but very cosy. The wood burner soon gets the place very warm. I would definitely come stay again. Tim and Judy are as relaxed hosts as you can get and made us fee very welcome from the moment we arrived. So if you're looking for a remote hidden gem, this is the place.

    Sam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy was exactly what we expected, cosy, clean and away from all modern technology. Would recommend Tim and Judy as hosts - Brilliant, will definitely stay again.

    Gordon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great little bothy in an amazing location. Tim was really helpful and quick to reply when we were having issues getting there due to a storm. He had the fire going on arrival so it was lovely and warm and he also gave us some freshly baked bread. It was snowing when we were there which made it even more picturesque. It's quite isolated which was perfect for us but make sure you arrived stocked up for a few days!

    Abigail2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a wonderful place to stay! The location is perfect, lovely and peaceful. Tim and Judy we’re fantastic hosts - even presenting us with some freshly baked bread on arrival. The cabin is fare enough from the house to feel private, and has wonderful views of the surrounding hills. Lovely and clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here!

    Stacey2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Possibly the most beautiful location we've ever been to. If you're into nature walks/bird watching its the place for you. Will definitely return. Perfect place to spend part of our honeymoon.

  • We had a lovely stay in Michael and Nolwenn's cosy cabin. As a non-driver it was wonderful to find a peaceful place to stay within easy reach of beautiful scenery yet right next to the train station and close to local amenities. Michael kindly met us from the station and helped us with our bags but it was so close - just across the road! We walked to the loch and went to the Sea Life and Birds of Prey centres. It was February so the weather wasn't great and sadly we couldn't make use of the pretty deck and gardens, but the cabin was toasty warm and there were plenty of board games, books and DVDs to keep us entertained. In fact, this is the best-equipped self-catering accommodation I've ever stayed in. Michael and Nolwenn have thought of everything, especially in the kitchen: as well as all the cutlery, crockery and utensils you'd need to cook, they provide tea, coffee, oil, sauces, salt, pepper, herbs and spices, even foil to wrap sandwiches in for picnics. These are the little things you often end up wastefully buying and leaving behind when you are self-catering and travelling by public transport. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy, the bed comfy, communication clear and efficient. An exemplary Airbnb experience!

    Emily2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn were lovely hosts! The place is every bit as cosy as it looks, located very close to Loch Lomond (the cottage has direct access to a riverside path that leads you to the Loch!) and Michael and Nolwenn gave us lots of useful information which we took advantage of during our stay! Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Loch Lomond area.

  • Fabulous accommodation, fabulous hosts, would definitely return

    Jen2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn are extremely kind hosts, full of useful tips of the area. The cottage is conveniently just a few minutes walk from the train depot, with plenty of privacy and a view of the river. Great place to spend a few nights away.

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This magical oasis hidden on the River Leven banks of Balloch, is not to be missed. Within the first few moments into the cabin you already feel right at home, with a cosy aesthetic and some of the comfiest sheets we had ever slept in. The surrounding garden is genuinely the most magical area you will ever find yourself. Your inner child will be filled with wonder and adventure as you meander your way around its twists and turns. Waking up to a cuppa on the balcony is the ideal way to start your day and as you watch the sun peak through the trees you’ll realise that you never want to leave. Fisherwood Cottage is absolutely stunning and we can guarantee that it’s the best way to see Balloch.

    Tom2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a cosy, well equipped little cottage! We had a lovely time here. Michael and Nolwenn have put a lot of work into making sure that guests are comfortable, including a really detailed and easy to read handbook about the cottage and the local area.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn’s place is very comfortable and cozy and perfect for a romantic getaway! They have loads of helpful guides and tips on what to do whilst you are there. The kitchen is very well equipped and the surroundings are beautiful. I would highly recommend their place and would definitely go back there myself!

    Charlotte2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved every second of our stay at Michael and Nolwenns place. Michael himself kindly showed us the way to the lodge from the Balloch platform which was just a few minutes walk. As soon as we met him he made us feel right at home and gave us some great reccomendations for places to see and things to do during our stay. The lodge itself was incredibly cosy and well equipped with a stunning balcony that overlooked the garden and nearby marina which conveniently lead to the Loch. Having eaten at the nearby Tullie Inn and Balloch House Hotel (both great restaurants serving hearty pub grub) we were also delighted to be greeted by Michael and Nolwenns cat, who made the stay that much more special. All in all I couldn’t recommend this place enough, warm hospitality, stunning surroundings and a really cosy nights sleep. Can’t wait to come back.

A bright and spacious timber roundhouse nestled below a single-track road amongst trees and by the shores of Loch Broom. Am Falachan offers a warm welcome within a private and peaceful self-contained dwelling with sweeping views over Loch Broom to Beinn Dearg and the surrounding hills. Am Falachan is located in Letters (An Leitir), 2.5 miles off the A835 and approximately 10 miles from the west coast fishing village of Ullapool. A perfect basecamp for Scotland's Highlands.
The accommodation is a beautiful round wooden space, the front half of which is fully glazed providing a near 180 degree panorama of the surrounding view. Within this one room there is a double sofa-bed, kitchen and sitting area, and additionally there is a small private shower room and an entrance porch with storage cupboards. The roundhouse sits below the single-track road and is tucked into the contour of the hill. In front is a small wooded area leading down to the sea loch which can be accessed from the roundhouse.
Am Falachan is located in Letters, one of 5 hamlets along a quiet single track cul-de-sac in the crofting community of Lochbroom, near Ullapool, Scotland, United Kingdom. The predominant surroundings are the natural environment - sea, hills, lochs, trees and myriad wildlife. The village of Ullapool has local shops, restaurants, pubs, coffee bars, art galleries and is a small and delightful gateway to the NW Highlands and the outer Hebrides of Lewis, Harris and Uist. If you are walking, the Cape Wrath trail passes through Clachan, just 2 miles away on our road.
  • The perfect place to relax and unwind. Gorgeous views, cosy and comfortable and a stunning little space. We took some little walks out in the local area which had lovely views. Great host who was kind and helpful with anything we needed. A great place to stay

    Harriet2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Rebekah and Jonathon for sharing the roundhouse. Am Falachan is an outstanding property. The setting is perfect. Despite being on the banks of the sea loch it's very sheltered. While we stayed Storm Ciara hit the UK and all we experienced was sound of birdsong and an occasional patter of raindrops, which even managed to sound meditative. And those windows! Perfect for lying in bed and watching the sunrise. Rebekah is a great host and has left lots of lovely touches around the roundhouse with information and local maps for walks. Spotlessly clean, while the kitchen is small its more than adequately equipped to cook all meals, I even managed a sausage casserole! It's the perfect mindful retreat to centre ones-self and enjoy the winter hygge.

  • The Roundhouse is in the perfect idyllic spot and is ideal for a quiet, romantic getaway. With superb views of the loch, it is fully equipped with everything you could need - the luxury products provided were an extra special touch. Rebekah was an excellent host, always attentive to our needs and happy to help out with questions whilst giving us privacy to offer the escapism we were looking for. The Roundhouse is definitely a special find and I would 100% recommend.

Loch Bracadale is a beautiful sea Loch with beaches and cliff walks. Sea Eagles nest not far along the cliffs. Gannets are often flying and diving for fish in the summer months.
  • We had a really great time at the studio. The studio itself is really cosy, and the view is stunning. Nicholas was really reactive and gave us good tips about Skye island. Was a really nice stay!

    Zoé2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is beautiful just like the surroundings. The fire makes the studio very cosy. Carbost is a nice village with the distillery, Paul’s Oyster Shed, coffee to go and the Old Inn. Good location to see many high lights of Skye. Don’t miss out on Jann’s Cakes in Dunvegan if you like sweets as much as I do. Nick is very friendly to. A place to recommend!

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicholas and Kate’s Studio is a beautiful, comfortable, and cosy place from which to experience the Isle of Skye. It had all the necessary amenities to cater for oneself and plenty of space in which to relax. Even going during what turned out to be a storm, we had an amazing time, cosied up inside, reading and drinking wine. It is also worth noting that the bed is very comfortable. We slept excellently despite the high winds and rain. Nicholas and Kate are fantastic hosts. They are quick to respond to messages and queries, attentive upon arrival, and extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the information we would need to make the most of the Studio and Skye itself, including concise directions on finding the address, as it is situated in a very quiet area.

    Eleanor2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in the studio. Easy to get to and great communication from Nick. The studio was stylish and cosy. Perfect surroundings, we were able to star gaze at night and explore Skye and it’s spectacular scenery in the day. Perfect location for a couple wanting to have some peaceful time away together. Will definitely go back!

    Roísín&Ross2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Airbnb experience from start to finish! This perfectly formed little studio kept us toasty and warm from the battering winds outside. It's a lovely, relaxing place that is very well thought out. The open space with the woodburner and the big double door feels open, but very private, with an excellent view of the wild land/seascape beyond. The kitchen and dining area has everything you need and we had a very nice steak dinner with oven roast vegetables etc without a fuss. A small kitchen is easier to tidy up! The bathroom with composting toilet and walk in shower was spotless and the heated towel rail works quickly. (If you haven't used a compositing toilet before, it doesn't smell at all and it's eco friendly. It has clever fans that extract any smells! No risk of being woken by a flush in the middle of the night!) The bedroom is lovely and cosy. A window by the bedside allows cool air in and the space can be completely blacked out for a great sleep. The Harris Tweed curtains keep the bedroom cool if the living area is toasty. We didn't get to explore the surrounding area but we know it well, loads of great things to do and see. If you're a couple looking for a perfect hideout/ place to relax, whether you've spent the day playing Scrabble or climbing munros, don't hesitate and book if you can!

As the hottub is wild water and chemical free we clean and refill it for each set of guests, for this and enough wood to heat it for two nights we charge £25.00. Additional nights are £5.00 per night for the wood. please contact us to book the hottub and for more information
miles of unspoilt coast line. great walking and cycling. peaceful with amazing dawn chorus. and fantastic starry nights.
  • Something we looked out for when choosing a air BnB was being able to get to it without a car yet still being in the depths of nature ! Which is definitely possible through bus + taxi! Its even a magical stay even when all there is is chilling inside of the yurt during a storm! All you need is friends, wine and games! We thoroughly enjoyed cooking and dancing in the yurt, would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of booking. Alison is the most loveliest host, thank you !xxx

  • Wonderful place away, the hot tub was fab and the yurt really cosy and comfy even in a storm.

  • Amazing experience in a perfect location. The Yurt is beautiful and warm, even during storm Ciara we were really cosy. The outdoor hut tub is definitely worth the effort, it’s lovely and cosy in a tranquil setting. We weren’t very lucky with the weather but it didn’t hamper our trip and on the final night we had clear skies. We’ve never seen so many stars. Lovely welcoming host. We’ll definitely return.

  • We had a beautiful stay in the yurt. Warm welcome. Excellent fun setting up the hot tub. Relaxation and bliss at its best.

  • A friend and I had a lovely stay in the yurt, was nice and cozy and we had a great time in the hot tub. Even had some clear skies for stargazing 😊

  • An incredible spot to get away from it all - a cosy rural spot perfect for chilling out and some spectacular landscapes. Couldn't have asked for a more amazing time, from the sunsets/rises to the amazing hot tub and the sustainability of the whole yurt. All topped up with excellent hosts. An all round spectacular few days, wish it could have been longer! Thank you Alison and Brett!

    Molly2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful offgrid experience, would highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect for a few days. The Yurt is cosy and warm, even in winter.

  • Amazing hosts. They responded quickly and helped with everything we needed from leading up to our visit all the way to when we left. They are very accommodating and made recommendations for where we could visit. They had teas coffee sugar and milk with biscuits on our arrival. The cottage was beautiful and clean within a fantastic location so very easy to walk to places. I can’t say enough how pleased we were!

    Nicole2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Pauline and Joep's place was lovely! Joep met us at the door for check-in (although you can check in independently as well) and gave us a tour of the property. He mentioned everything you'd need to know from the heating to their very cool electric shower and towel warmer. They have some great amenities such as tea and coffee to start you out with on your stay. They also have a washer in the home and then a dryer just a few steps away in a shed in the courtyard. The shed with the dryer was also super clean and had some extra clothes lines for hanging up delicates. Their home was super clean and had such cute images of hairy coos on the walls, which my friend and I personally loved. There are plenty of cozy blankets to use in the living room/bedroom. The TV situation was also great with cable options and an option to cast from your device to the TV. The location is fantastic - right next to the River Ness. It's close to all the city's restaurants and shops too. Just a two minute walk away is the local Tesco (so convenient) and their home is a ten minute walk away from the bus station/train station. Would highly reccomend their home for your stay in Inverness!

  • We had a fabulous pre Christmas break at Lochside. The lodge was even better than I hoped. I had worried that we might be overdoing it with 6 plus a dog but it is deceptively spacious and very well equipped. I had no problem cooking a Christmas dinner here. The location is stunning and we spent many hours in the hot tub overlooking the loch even when it snowed on us! Well worth the 7 hours drive

  • Wonderful cabin right on the loch. The hot tub was fab and natural stone fire pit fantastic. The views from the upstairs bedroom were breath taking to wake up to every morning. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and cant wait to go back. Well worth the 9 hour journey from london! The locals were friendly, in the villiage shop/cafe and community bar. The food was great too. Not one single complaint! Could not have had a more peaceful fabulous holiday.

    Jenny2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable get away from it all log cabin. The setting is wonderful right on the side of wonderful Loch Awe with rolling hills backdrop. The hot tub is wonderful a true treat. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. the owner left thoughtful extras midge spray, tips on how to stop them attacking. shelve full of books and games. it was sparkling clean and we felt at home straight away. The road to it is long and narrow (not that it bothered us) but it is well worth it.

'The Steading’ is a rustic cabin on a working farm with wood burning stove set near the North Coast 500 route. Ideal for a writing, musical or yoga retreat. Lots of walking and cycling routes or simply relaxing in front of the fire with a cup of tea. Stunning views across the countryside. NO SHOWER / no hot running water. Basic bedding available. No phone signal/WiFi. Enjoy the peace of the Highlands and being wakened only by the noise of the wildlife, sheep and cows. Sleeps 2 or 4-5 if family.
The Steading is on my father in law’s farm. Alex Houston's farm is set in 100 acres of rustic farmland with a lazy river running through it. The Steading is private, next door to alex’s farm house. Guests have exclusive use of the entire building and the front door is lockable with your own key. The scenery and tranquility is breathtaking and there's miles of unspoilt walking and off-road cycling. It is detached and has two floors. Downstairs open plan living area complete with wood burning stove (no central heating - but the fire is better anyway!), kitchen area, table and chairs with a small toilet room and sink. Cold running water. NO running hot water - but there is a kettle for hot water. (Please note there is NO shower or bath in the steading). ** Guests should bring wood and firelighters with you for the fire ** The kitchen area is very basic - kettle, plug in double hob, sink (cold water only), a fridge and a microwave. There are some pots, pans, mugs and cutlery etc there for you to use. There is no running hot water. There is no shower in the Steading. Some guests have used the showers at the leisure centre in Alness (6 miles away), and you could schedule in getting some extra food supplies in the supermarket at the same time. There are two handmade wooden single beds which can be pushed together to form a double. Basic bedding is provided - though it will be very simple and not hotel standard! You will be staying on a working croft that has approximately 100 sheep and 30 cows. Alex lives on and works the farm and he would be happy to show anyone around the farm and help out with running of it if you wished to experience true Highland crofting! Alex is also an artist and oil painter and has taught art at secondary schools all his life. Families - although the Steading sleeps 2 in our description, families with children (sleeping up to 2 adults and 2-3 children) would be very welcome - please just message to enquire. It is ideal for families as a bit of a an adventure out of the normal city life! You can be guaranteed a quiet holiday as their is no TV, no WiFi, no phone signal and the nearest shop is 8 miles (12km) away. You can get mobile signal 4 miles (6km) back towards Alness. As this is a working farm there are definitely NO PETS ALLOWED. Please bring along some home comforts if you wish - a hand towel for the bathroom, sheets for the mattresses. We don't regularly launder the bits and bobs of towels / blankets etc that are there as spares - so bring some of your own for your own comfort! Also please be warned regarding mice, insects etc - this is a farm, and the Steading is a very basic converted building so there may sometimes be animal intruders in the building which we can’t really stop! So any food should be kept in sealed containers. Lastly - we hope the Steading captures your sense of adventure and that you’d like to stay here! Check out our reviews from our guests to see for yourself what our guests think of it. It certainly is a unique place for a getaway!
If you are looking for peace and tranquility on your holiday then the center of the Highlands of Scotland is for you. This is a remote stay with only the noise of the country farm animals and the crackle of the wood burner! You can go for hours before you will see a car. It also makes it the best location for walking and cycling. It is a converted farm outbuilding with a mix of stone and wood. Entrance is a concrete floor. Toilet is a concrete floor with a flushing toilet and a hand sink. (Please note there is no shower or bath). Downstairs has a wooden floor with a worktop and fitted sink with running water, fridge, microwave, small cooker, power sockets and lighting. There is a table and chairs. There is a wood burning stove which will certainly keep you all cosy! Stairs are wooden. Upstairs is a wooden floor and there are two camp beds. There is power sockets. Please take your sleeping bag with you. There is a cycle shed and car parking available. Please leave the property as you found it - unplugging all appliances when you are not in the property. Check in is around 3pm but we can easily give you a location for the house key if you need to arrive before then (you must remember that there is no phone signal so this has to be arranged before you arrive at the property.)
  • We enjoyed a one night stay here on a subzero February night. Alex was so kind and welcoming when we arrived, coming out to meet us in the dark and getting the fire going in no time, which was very much appreciated! The space was actually a bit better equipped than we expected, and although it's very basic we had everything we needed for the night to cook, relax and keep warm. We imagined how dreamy it would be here in spring/summer when it's a wee bit warmer... A lovely peaceful stay.

    Laura2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem of a place! Basic and rustic but as campers we found it to be more luxury than we were expecting (being used to small tents the space and a kitchen was lovely!) We stayed on a weekend in Feb with some pretty rough weather and lots of snow. Roasted up the log burner and stayed warm enough! The walk to Fyrish monument that was recommended was beautiful and we had a great stay! 100% would go again and hope we can some time in the future!

    Emily2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was absolutely wonderful. Felt very welcome there straight away upon arriving. Enjoyed our time up in Inverness. Hope to stay again in the future. You’re more than cosy and warm in the winter with the log burner going. It’s wasn’t difficult to keep the space warm when we stayed up in February (-2°c). Don’t miss out on the experience. Eliot

  • My friends and I had a great time at The Steading. Alex was a great host, and we found it very easy to find the location with the detailed directions given. The details Fiona provided were very accurate and allowed us to come prepared. We found the lodging very clean and cozy, perfect for our weekend away.

    Claire2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants an escape from city life. We saw more stars at night here than we ever have in our lives. The steading itself is basic but it’s so cosy once you’ve got the fire on. Alex who owns the farm is so lovely and friendly. We’ll be returning!

    Nicola2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay any weather as there is a fire to keep you cosy and warm. The only disappointment is that we didn’t book another night. :)

    Andrew2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Basic but wonderful place to stay

    Storm2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at the steading, location is ideal for a calming retreat away from cities and the views are to die for! There are places to have gorgeous walks and the nearest towns are very sweet. Had the best 2 days at the steading, a bit draughty but surprisingly toasty once the fire is going for a bit! Also we were very surprised when we arrived as there were copious amounts of bedding and towels had been provided for us. My boyfriend wants to go back already!

  • Lovely funky little place, beautiful scenery, was a shame we had rain! There are chickens roaming about outside of the house and sheep in the fields nearby. Julia and her husband were so friendly and welcoming and have local recommendations. The place is very cosy with a huge log fire, we had a lovely time ☺️

    Rebecca2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Glass House is a stunning space I a stunning landscape. Perfect escape to the country with our black lab who loved the countless walks from the front door. Highly recommend and hope to be back one day!

    Laura2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We went away for a couple of nights and it was great. A cute little barn with everything we needed. And very very cosy. Enjoyed the fact that there was no WiFi and poor signal, made us appreciate the time together more and the lush views rather than being distracted. Very muddy in the wet as you'd expect but didn't let it put us off. Some lovely walks to be had.

    Aaron2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! Beautifully furnished and heated floor was lovely on a cold, wet evening.

  • We had a great time at the Glass House! We did a bit of Isaac Tea Trail walk and it was just beautiful. Would love to stay again. Thank you!

  • Had the most amazing stay. So tranquil and secluded. The house is so impressive, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Anything you need - it’s there. We used the log burner and the underfloor heating made it so warm and cosy on a windy, winters night. The whole place is just really special. 10 minutes in the car to nice little pubs and great food at the golden lion in Allendale. Julia is so quick to respond and leaves you to your own devices but you know she’s around should you need anything. A really unique place and beautiful surroundings. Can imagine it’s gorgeous in summer with the BBQ and lovely little garden. Thank you Julia!!!
