We are offering a self contained studio in our garden. There is an en-suite bathroom, TV, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi. The village gastropub is 100m away and a great village shop that will serve breakfast and lunch in their tea rooms.
The space is modern and airy within a traditional stone building. There is a king size bed, sitting area, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and television. We can provide further crockery and cutlery if necessary should you wish to buy food and bring it back to eat, although we cannot provide cooking facilities. We provide tea, coffee, fresh milk, and biscuits. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and shower. The studio is centrally heated and very cosy. The studio has it's own Wi-Fi router and recently upgraded Superfast Broadband. . There is a patio outside if you want to sit out with a drink to watch the sunset. It gets the last bit of sun in the garden!
Cawthorne is a very popular and pretty village nestled in a beautiful rural landscape a few miles from the Pennines and a short drive to the edge of the Peak District. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is only 4 miles away, one of the international 'must see' Art Galleries. The Hepworth, Wakefield is also only a 15min drive. Cannon Hall, with it's lovely park is on the doorstep and Cannon Hall Open Farm, Cannon Hall Garden Centre and the Cawthorne Maize Maze (summer only) are right next door. Cawthorne has a wonderful village store (across the road from our house) and tea room that opens at 8am for breakfast; (Croissant, Granola, Yogurt, Toast, etc) if you choose. There is a great Antiques Centre (featured on BBC's Antiques Road Trip), which also serves coffees and lunches. The Spencer Arms pub is literally on the doorstep serving lunches and evening meals. This is a popular pub far and wide and booking is advisable. Beatson House restaurant is another popular alternative for eating out in the evening, again, a hundred yards from the Studio. If you are interested in walking there is a wealth of beautiful walks ranging from a gentle stroll to a challenging hike on the Peaks or over the Pennines. There are many lovely walks on our doorstep - no need for a car! We are happy to lend you maps and give advice. Cycling is a very popular activity here and a great way to get around but be warned - it is hilly! We are close to the Trans Pennine Trail and the route of the 2014 Tour de France, and the 2015 & 2017 Tour de Yorkshire came through Cawthorne and Penistone. The cities of Sheffield and Leeds are a quick journey away, with a wealth of interesting cultural activity and great shopping. The lovely town of Holmfirth, made famous by 'Last of the Summer Wine' is a 15 minute drive. Huddersfield, Barnsley and Wakefield are all close by.
  • The studio is perfect. The bed was amazingly comfortable - we both got a fantastic night's sleep! Sarah was extremely helpful and friendly, once taking us through the practicalities, left us to it. Top tip: do walk across the fields to Cannon Hall and have breakfast in the White Bull Cafe - it was sensational!

  • We love staying in Cawthorne and have done several times. A really nice village and a wonderful room.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the garden studio. The location is beautiful and the studio itself is finished to a high standard and was very clean. Sarah was very welcoming and the studio had everything you need with relevant information on the studio itself and the surrounding area. The bed was very comfy and it was lovely waking up to the view of the trees. Could not recommend this enough. As a bonus the food in the pub where you park was very good.

    Joanne 2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is great...very light, spacious, clean and kitted out to a high standard. It had everything we needed and was a great base to visit local family. Sarah and partner were very welcoming, and arriving late at night wasn't a problem. The village is very pretty. We would very much recommend. Thanks Sarah! Alice, Richard and baby Molly x

Daniel is a charming and very interesting individual; and such a warm welcoming host! He was very kind, offering his help where he could. Couldn't fault anything - we felt safe and well looked after! Definitely a bargain and would choose to stay again in a heart beat.

Upstairs bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and bath, utility room downstairs with walk in shower, toilet and sink. Large kitchen and 2 reception rooms. This is the perfect location for outdoor pursuits, walking or biking in the Pennines and Peak District. There are ample walks from the house around the area's many hills and reservoirs, and a downstairs shower room makes it easy to clean off muddy kit. Holmfirth lies directly between Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, which are all about 20 miles away and can be accessed by public transport within an hour. Holmfirth is a lovely small town in West Yorkshire, renown as the setting for BBC's Last of the Summer Wine. It is a scenic and rural area, a great place for wandering in independent shops, tearooms, vintage and antique shops, boutiques, bars and award winning restaurants. Holmfirth Picturedrome is a wonderful small music venue which hosts live music, film screenings and other events. There are two small independent breweries and a vineyard within a mile. Øyvind E.2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful (and surprisingly roomy) house in a very picturesque setting. Everything that you'd want was there, from two excellent showers to a pot of coffee to start the post-wedding recovery. Great house in a great place and great value too.

    Sam2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it, but the other 5 girls did and loved it. They enjoyed the house and found it the perfect place for a catch up. Thank you so much!

  • Lynne kindly gave us her whole house for a night and I cannot express enough what an amazing experience we had! The house itself is lovely, it has big rooms and is beautifully decorated. The location is perfect for wandering into Holmfirth or going off on a hike in the hills. Lynne went out of her way to make us all feel at home - leaving out breakfast foods for us, all the information we needed to know about the house's facilities, making up air beds for extra people and there was even a map where she had pinned great places to see or go in the surrounding area. We'd go back in a heartbeat, it was the perfect home from home with the perfect host!

    Lilli2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a beautiful location and a really friendly helpful owner . We would definitely stay again.

    Evie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne's house is absolutely beautiful. Just as described but actually better. Lynne has a problem with a new bed delivery and brilliantly offered us a discount so it was win-win. Easy check-in and very clear instructions about house facilities – Lynne even left us breakfast!

Thimble Cottage is an early 19th century Weaver's cottage. It sits on a private road and offers modern, but cosy interiors with beautiful views across the popular hill top village of Scholes.
Thimble Cottage was built in around 1800 and was once a Weaver's cottage and is situated on a private side lane off St George's Road. The house is set over three floors with a cellar that's closed to guests, mainly as the steps are steep and we don't want any accidents. Entering the house you'll find a large kitchen. There's everything you will need here including all the usual kitchen appliances, but also a TV and portable wifi speaker. There's a huge antique Japanese cabinet, which contains lots of tableware and crockery, so please make use of it all. We've also included lots of dog bowls should you be bringing yours along. On the first floor are two bedrooms. One is double and the other single. We have selected quality bedlinen as there's nothing nicer than lovely bedding. We also provide lots of towels and have kept both rooms simple, but elegant. There are large built in wardrobes in the double room. On this floor is the bathroom with an electric shower above the bath. On the upper floor is the lovely surprise to the house. Here you'll find the large and airy sitting room. This is a firm favourite of all those that visit the house. Here you can find a TV, Bluray player and digital radio. The TV has an Amazon stick, so you can also access Netflix with your own log in. There is plenty of seating and things to capture your attention on the walls. If you look out of the sky lights you shall see more lovely views from this level.
Scholes is a pretty little hilltop village that sits beside the popular tourist town of Holmfirth. The area was made famous when the BBC shot 'Last of The Summer Wine' here and many of the pubs and familiar landscapes were captured around Scholes. The cottage run off the main street and is conveniently located next to the shop, post office and local pub. Just around the corner is the locally famed chip shop. Opposite the house are wonderful views and the local area offers many great walks. In Scholes you're only a stones throw from the Trans Pennine way, so it's a popular place for walkers and those just wanting some time away. However, even within the village you can walk across many footpaths and discover lovely wooded areas with streams just across the road. Since there is no garden this is all the better for those with dogs. Our neighbours all have dogs, so don't worry too much if yours get a bit yappy on arrival. You can let your dogs run outside the house just ensure that you clear up their mess as others park in the private driveway
  • Andrew's place was a cozy but spacious 2 bedroom cottage, fully equipped as described and really lovely! Although we did not meet him personally, he was in constant communication with us to ensure everything was fine. The location which was hilly countryside was very beautiful with plenty of places to walk or cycle. Holmfirth is also nearby with lots of nice places to eat, if you're not cooking, but there are full cooking facilities for those who prefer to eat in. Overall, it was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location, and I would highly recommend this little gem for a retreat in this part of the country. We definitely hope to be back, if we can find an suitable time for booking, as Andrew's place seems really popular, and for good reason.

    Evelyn2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Parking in the side road is available, but not easy - however, there is space on the road at the bottom of the alley when needed. The steep stairs are a challenge to anyone with problem knees, but not impossible. The kitchen is well equipped, with everything you might need. The cottage has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped - lots of interesting little touches - and the top floor is a wonderful relaxing space. We shall be back!

    Ann2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this beautiful cottage enough! Thimble Cottage really has everything you could need, it's a home from home. It's a mid terrace and the neighbours are so friendly and helpful. The road is quiet and there are stunning views of the countryside and hills. Just down the road is a lovely walk through the woods which my dog and I enjoyed every morning first thing. The cottage is warm, cosy and comfortable. Clean and beautifully furnished. Andrew, the owner, is really helpful and approachable and was able to advise on where to take the dog and recommend places to eat. Holmfirth is minutes by car and walkable in about 25 mins if you can stand the steep hills. Lots at fab places to eat like The Black Cat Bistro. Totties Garden Centre is a 5 min walk from the cottage and serves fabulous food. Coeliacs like me are really well catered for. You are well placed to visit many of the beautiful features of the area including some stunning reservoir walks. I can't wait to stay again. Missing Yorkshire already. Thank you for a wonderful stay Andrew.

    Sarah2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really tastefully decorated. It was a really relaxing place to stay. It's about a 30 minute walk to Holmfirth. There's a pub and a post office very close to the cottage. The only downside for us who took our dog was not having a garden. It really is a beautiful cottage to stay in x

    Ruth2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's cottage exceeded our expectations, it was a delightful cottage. Very clean and tidy. I would certainly go back again without hesitation. Scholes is a pretty village and only a short drive away to the famous Holmfirth.

    john2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean, comfortable dog-friendly cottage with all the equipment you need, convenient for the local shop and pub. Scholes is surrounded by beautiful countryside, but also within reach of bigger towns if needed. Saint George’s Rd can be surprisingly busy and there’s really only parking for one car off road. It is possible to park a second car on the road outside, but as many others also park for both the shop and pub, you may have to leave your car away from the cottage. The neighbours are friendly and helpful, as is the man who runs the shop. Definitely worth booking!

    Norma2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful cottage! one regret - we didn't stay long enough!

    Jenya2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house! We stayed for over a month while our own house was being renovated and Andrew couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. This is a gorgeous place to stay in a lovely part of the world with a fantastic host. 5 stars

  • Shane's place is amazing. Photos do not do it justice. The whole house is finished to an extremely high standard with lots of gadgets. It is a beautiful home, tastefully and minimally decorated. From the waterfall shower to the 65" TV in the snug, from the deep comfortable bed to the country cottage with a modern twist style kitchen/diner, no expense has been spared. Everything you need is here, toiletries, milk, bread, washing powder, logs for the fire. Shane is an excellent host, letting us check in late and check out early. He even had a chocolate cake made for us for when we arrived. Right on the edge of the Peak District, it is ideally situated for a short drive to some of England's best countryside. I would expect somewhere of this quality to be waaay more expensive than it is. Book this place now!

  • Sue was a great host greeting us with a very friendly welcome; the cottage is perfect, so comfortable, clean, well proportioned with a real quality feel - excellent value. The location was perfect for our stay, as short walk into Shepley (lovely couple of pubs) and very close to Peak District, Halifax and York. We had a perfect 5dy break. Many thanks Sue.

  • Great place, ideally located to explore Yorkshire. Fantastic amenities and Susan was available when required.

    David2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Susan has a fab cottage. Immaculately clean and tidy. Beautiful rooms especially the spaciouse kitchen. Bedrooms are both en suite which was perfect. Stunning views from the rear of the property overlooking fields. Parking not a problem as there is an allocated space opposite the property. Made to feel very welcome, even bread, milk and butter provided to have tea and toast on arrival, perfect!

    Samantha2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location, spotlessly clean, perfectly furnished (with a couple of quirky surprises!) and plenty of ideas of things to do - everything you could possibly need for a truly relaxing break. Sue was lovely and couldn't have done anything more for us. She welcomed us on arrival, had fresh milk waiting in the fridge, showed us around and then let us simply enjoy this stunning area. We've stayed in countless Airbnb properties across the UK and abroad and this is by far the best we've experienced. We shall definitely be back! Thank you!

    Rachel2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and John are terrific hosts! Sue welcomed us and the other couple sharing the house and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Her husband John is a talented craftsman with a sly wit that made our stay even more enjoyable. The cottage itself is lovely with a spectacular view and well-appointed kitchen and bathrooms. We took several walks in the surrounding countryside and to the nearby village of Shepley. I highly recommend Croftnook Cottage.

Whilst staying with us you can relax in the sitting room, watch tv/DVDs and have free use of wifi.
  • Jenny and David have a beautiful home. The bed was very comfortable, the bath was brilliant, and the breakfast delicious. Jenny welcomed us with tea (though we could have chosen prosecco!) and yummy homemade cake. David's art work adorns the walls, and is really beautiful. It was a bit wet, but it is Yorkshire after all.

  • There are no words to describe the hospitality and warmth you will feel from a stay with Jenny and David. From the moment we stepped in the door we were made to feel at home. That alone warrants a stay here, but there is so much more. First, their home is absolutely breathtaking. They are located in a quiet and beautiful village, but even surrounded by beauty their home takes the cake. Surrounded by art (painted by David) and an interior design that would make Phillipe Starck weep with joy. Secondly, can i just say, THAT BREAKFAST! Jenny put together a spread that would put many 5 star restaurants and hotels to shame. That doesn't even mention the delightful lemon cakes she had ready for us both when we arrived and as a late night snack in our room when we returned from a night out. Yet I have to circle back to the hospitality. We were in town for a wedding nearby, and as we grabbed a ride with a friend we had no car available. They drove us to the venue the night we stayed so we could hang out with our friends, they drove us back the next morning for the wedding and then JENNY DROVE BACK TO DROP OFF MY TOOTHBRUSH AND TOOTHPASTE I HAD LEFT! She left it in a nice little bag and coordinated with the place we were staying that night to have it left in our room. My recommendation, if you are trying to do anything within a 100 miles of their home, skip the convenience of a closer place and stay here. You will not regret it.

    Courtney2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's place was absolutely beautiful! Lovely views, very friendly and helpful, and what a super comfortable bed!! :-) Just be careful with sat nav directions, as mine took me in a circle. ...Definitely unreservedly recommend this place!!! You will love it! :-)

  • Jenny and David's home is located in the beautiful village of Thurstonland. Their home is so tastefully furnished and decorated that you cannot fail to feel pampered from the minute you arrive. Jenny and David will look after you so well, you won't want to leave. The facilities are beautiful and I woke up on the first morning feeling like I'd been sleeping in a cloud! I have no hesitation in recommending that you go and stay here.

  • Great spot great hosts great breky great room lovely and private

    Kenneth2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny and David are delightful hosts - very thoughtful and excellent company, along with supplying a delicious breakfast. The property is beautiful and I would heartily recommend it.

    George2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Jenny's gorgeous bed and breakfast. We were very late arriving due to terrible traffic, but she was waiting for us with nibbles and wine- much appreciated after spending 9 hours on the road! A beautiful room, gorgeous breakfast, stunning surroundings AND she even ironed and starched my husband's shirt ready for a wedding the next day! A gem of a woman and a stunning stay. Would love to return!

    Naomi2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jenny's - we really could not have hoped for anything more! The location is stunning, and provides easy access to lots of walks in and around the Peak District. The room was cozy and comfortable, clean and beautifully kept, and Jenny was a wonderful host. She had a lot of suggestions about local walk and places to eat, prepared a great breakfast, and always made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely book again if we're ever in the area!

Our cosy little cottage is perfect for those looking to take a break in the countryside. Surrounded by great views, you're only a stone throw away from restaurants and the necessary shops. Huddersfield town center is 20 minutes by car and buses pass regularly along with Denby Dale train station nearby. Our house is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families.
Newly renovated little cottage, very cosy!
Skelmanthorpe is a little village but is home to many handy facilities including pubs, restaurants (Solos is a great Indian), supermarket, salons, butchers, bakers, post office, a play center and many countryside walks.
  • This place was great - really nice house and great hosts.

  • Loved our stay in this cosy cottage. Rebecca was flexible on check in and check out times and was very welcoming. Would 100% go back next time we visit the area.

  • Very nice little house, confortable and cosy, we appreciated it a lot for a one night stay in skelmanthrope.

  • Rebecca and Marco are wonderful hosts, they gave us a warm welcome and were very attentive. The place itself is incredibly cosy and situated in a lovely little countryside village. The cottage is equipped with everything you'll need for a cosy, relaxing break. Highly recommended!

    Stephen2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely little cottage close to so many things to do. I never met Rebecca and Marco but they were really easy to contact via email and phone and left easy instructions on how to get into the cottage etc. Note to anybody driving... There is loads of parking space available on the road outside the house, don't do what I did and use the big car park next door to turn around in, because it's private and the gate shut behind me and locked me in. I was stuck in there for a good half an hour which was pretty funny but I wouldn't recommend the experience!

    Caroline2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little cottage in a quaint village outside of Huddersfield. We stayed for a local nearby wedding and the cottage was perfect. Incredibly clean and well presented. Although we didn't meet Rebecca the check-in and out was hassle free. A must stay for anyone wanting to get out and about in the Yorkshire countryside but not too far from civilisation!

    Lucy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Used the cottage whilst visiting for a wedding in Huddersfield. Cosy and everything we needed for a short stay. Although host was on holiday she still communicated well.

    Jackie2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cosy cottage is lovely we stayed two night with our two children and the cottage had everything we needed as a family. The area is in a great location for walking and many other local attractions. Would highly recommend and go our selfs again.

  • Amanda's house was absolutely perfect for our stay! It's literally a 1 minute walk from a brilliant pub, and it has the most wonderful view over the countryside. I enjoyed relaxing in the roll top bath, what a novelty! A lovely qwerky little place to relax for a short break. Thank you.

  • Perfect place, perfect location, wonderful.

    Nigel2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda's house is a very comfortable, homely and creative environment. An amazingly interesting house which I understand from the friendly neighbours has an extensive history. The view is to die for! A lovely village, peaceful and handy for walks in the Peaks. However, we spent most of our time in the house because it was so comfortable and walked our dog around the numerous public footpaths. A lovely break and would recommend without hesitation.

    sue2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, homely, quirky flat/cottage very central in the beautiful village of Hepworth. Local pub a stones-throw away, I took my dog and the walks around the village were brilliant. Well equipped, I worked remotely from here for a week, had good wifi signal and desk to work from. Very friendly neighbourhood, a real 'secret escape'. Highly recommend.

    Lyndsey2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was helpful from the start and very prompt with the responses. We planned to visit the Peak District and booked the place before asking on a pm. She was very upfront with no surprises. She asked about our plans and shared wholesomely if it would suit our needs. Amanda even suggested a few places around her property for us to visit. The views out from Living room and main bedroom are out to the open greens and the place also has a cute flowery garden. For food other than Pub food and groceries, Holmfirth is a short 7-18mins drive away but there are Pubs within walking distance of the property. We found it to be a great match for our trip and would probably go back just for the views. It's very relaxing! Have fun :-)

    Sarvesh2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amanda's place. The place has very spacious and beautifully decorated living/dining room and kitchen, so when we were inside we were very comfortable, cooking, eating and hanging out. The place is also in the midst of beautiful nature and has a stunning view. Amanda was always availalbe when we needed something. We look forward to visiting again.

  • This is a top class venue in a scenic Yorkshire village, and serviced by a very flexible host. My family and I stayed for one full month and were extremely satisfied. All aspects were found to be just as detailed on the AirBnB website, and I would thoroughly recommend this as a high value venue for couples and families looking for a comfortable base in a picturesque location. Many thanks once again to Amanda for all her diligent work in ensuring we had an outstanding holiday.

    Richard2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Although we never met Amanda, she was very helpful and made everything clear. We had everything we needed for a great stay. The apartment was clean and tidy with information on the apartment and places to go, all this with stunning views. The locals were friendly and were happy to give helpful advice. Beautiful walks and plenty to do.

Centrally located in the market town of Penistone, this luxurious cottage is within easy walking distance of all local shops, bars and restaurants. The accommodation on a single level, comprises of a fully fitted kitchen, lounge and dining area, house bathroom and two double bedrooms; one with en-suite shower room. This cottage will provide you with space you need to relax and enjoy your stay.
  • Westfield Cottage in Penistone was a perfect getaway for myself, sister and friend. I was home from Sydney for a short break and wanted to stay somewhere for a night where we could go for a walk in the Peak District and have our own country dwelling. It is a cosy cottage with a beautiful kitchen, sitting area, fire place, bathrooms and the cosiest bed I think I've ever slept in. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, there were ample towels, bedding etc. Everything felt like a little bit of luxury! We absolutely loved it and came back early from being out for dinner so that we could relax in our temporary home :) Our hosts were very welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure the cottage was perfect for our stay. They showed us how to use everything on arrival and sent me a list of walks we could do in the local area prior to our stay, which was very useful as we were new to the area. The cottage was a perfect location to access the Peak District and walk to the local shop or restaurants/ pub. Penistone is a lovely little village. I highly recommend both the cottage and the hosts! I'd definitely return! :)

  • A beautiful property equipped and fitted to the very highest standard. We visited with my elderly parents and the single level and en suite shower room made it the perfect place for them to enjoy a short holiday. Andrew was a terrific host and nothing was too much trouble. We will most definitely visit again in the future.

  • Andrew was a fantastic host and everything in his cottage was perfect! Andrew was very easy to contact and he met us as soon as we arrived and showed us where everything was. He also gave us recommendations about where to eat and go for walks in the beautful Peak District which is a short 20 minute drive away. The cottage had a wonderful fire place which has us feeling very cosy and warm in the evenings when we were relaxing after a long day of walking. The master bedroom is beautifully decorated and the bed is one of the comfiest we have ever slept in. The en suite shower was heaven! The second bedroom, again was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and more- the dishwasher and washing machine were extremely handy too. Thank you so much to Andrew, we will certainly be back!

Welcome to our home. We are situated in a small village outside Huddersfield called Lepton. The room is a small double bed room, very cosy and the bed is extremely comfortable. • Philippa was really helpful and responsive in the run up to my stay and the information she supplied excellent. House was warm, cozy and had everything I needed whilst looking around the area for a new home.

  • The house was very easily found with the help of the directions, even though it was out of the way. A welcome bottle of wine was on the table and it was clean and cosy. It was a very interesting area, and we had great fun exploring. Helped by the maps and hints left for us. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and exactly what was needed. We love the area, without knowing anything about it, we were after seeing Art, and there are some great places very close by. Such an important area for history as well. Am looking forward to going again for longer!

    Jane2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you would need at cottage, very comfortable beds, lovely walks and very quiet. Definitely stay again

    Sarah2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We used this cottage as our base for a job in Leeds. It is big enough to host 5 people, a second bathroom would be a big plus though to avoid morning bath room troubles. The house was clean, the kitchen and the living area are absolutely satisfactory, so are the small, but cozy bedrooms. You will have wifi. A small supermarket and a few restaurants and pubs are in walking distance. I did not met Phillippa in person, but the email contact was very supportive and she provided all the information i needed to know. I can recommend Cuckstool Cottage for any purpose, business or a family vacation.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jenny's home. The house was immaculate and in a beautiful location and both Jenny and David were warm, welcoming and very accommodating. We couldn't of asked for a nicer place to stay. Jenny and David were really friendly to talk to and made us feel right at home, (and made us a delicious breakfast!) we wish we could have stayed longer!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Cottage. The room was immaculate, with everything you can imagine on hand. The hosts were lovely!

    Richard2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • My first Airbnb experience and how spoilt have I been? Jenny and David are wonderful hosts with many interests and amazing stories to share. They made me feel like I was visiting long lost friends. We chatted and dined together. A delicious home cooked supper by Jenny (best ever bread & butter pudding!!!) Followed the next morning by a scrumptious breakfast with amazing views across the fields. Guests have their own mini wing with large comfy bed & private bathroom. Absolutely everything is provided, amazing attention to detail and immaculately clean. Jenny & David's home is a wonderful showcase of their shared passion for design and architecture. Each exquisite piece of furniture has its own individual story and fits perfectly in its surroundings. David's fabulous paintings are truly inspiring. They bring every wall to life with a personal story. You are instantly transported to breath taking Irish coastlines, sun drenched Tuscan hills or moody Yorkshire landscapes. It was a great pleasure and honour to meet such a vibrant couple who find joy and happiness in doing things they feel passionate about. Recent projects include the fabulous garden gate hand crafted by David and the most amazing garden designed, constructed and planted by Jenny. Thank you so much, you truly touched my heart and gave me inspiration for the future xx

  • One of the most comfortable B&B's we've stayed in for years. Great location and setting. Warm hosts. Healthy and satisfying breakfast. And a perfect location from which to explore some beautiful countryside ! We'd recommend!

    Mike2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a superb stay in a part of the country that should not be missed . Easy travel between the Hepworth and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Set in a quaint village within walking distance of a pub and with easy access to the beautiful scenic countryside. Fantastic bedroom and breakfast and would recommend this to any fellow travellers.

    Stan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great choice this property is. It has everything that you would wish for. A recently renovated traditional stone property, immaculate inside, an extremely comfortable bed and bedroom, bathroom is adjacent ( robe and slippers available ) with rain shower, bath and lots of little bathroom 'extras' should you have forgotten anything. Molton Brown soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. Everything about this property oozes quality and it is excellent value for money. A home from home can be great but what really is the icing on the cake is the welcome and interaction with your hosts. This is the perfect combination with Jenny and David really super hosts. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast and the optional supper were absolutely first class. You wouldn't expect anything else at this property. Go with high expectations...and they will be exceeded.

Set in an acre of its own land, Butts Farm is a beautifully restored, Grade II listed, Yorkshire stone farmhouse, dating back to 1780. The house sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, 2 kingsize and 2 twin. The master bedroom has a luxurious ensuite and a working open fire. Guests love the loft room with its far reaching views and free-standing tear drop bath. Downstairs the cottage is equally well appointed, with a large farmhouse kitchen with a log burning stove and beautiful sitting room with open fire.
Although our 'minimum stay' is set to 7 days on this site - we will, wherever possible, accept shorter breaks and can also be flexible on start dates. So do please contact us if you'd like to stay but cannot see what you are looking for on here. We will try and help wherever possible! Beautiful detached grade II listed cottage set in very private mature gardens, including a well stocked orchard, formal herb garden & paddock. The cottage dates back to 1780 but has been comprehensively refurbished. There is a large boot room come laundry room with original stone flagged floor - plenty of space for muddy wellies after your long country walks. This leads through to a large kitchen - complete with wood burning stove, a long oak farmhouse table & solid quartz worktops. The kitchen has been well stocked with beautiful vintage plates, but boasts all mod cons, including 2 fridges, a freezer & dishwasher. There is a downstairs loo with wood panelling saved during the refurb off the front hall way. The sitting room has a gorgeous open fire which, in the winter months, will be laid ready to light. And plenty of comfy seating for 8 guests. Upstairs the master bedroom also boasts its own open coal fire (please request that you would like this laid when booking - an extra charge may apply). The ensuite is tiled in beautiful Italian marble, has a large shower over the bath and is finished to a very high standard. The kingsize bed was made right here in Yorkshire & we are sure you will have the best nights sleep with proper down duvet & pillows and Egyptian cotton bed linen. There is a further large kingside bedroom at the front of the cottage which has lovely views over the fields beyond. At the back of the cottage there is a twin room, again with super comfy beds & hand finished blinds. The main bathroom is next to this bedroom with a separate walk in shower, lovely double ended bath and designer tiles. Up into the loft the space has opened out to create a truly unique space with another stunning bathroom & far reaching views over the orchard to Emely moor mast. There are 2 low twin beds. The head height is limited up here due to the low beams. Probably not suitable for anyone over 5ft 7! Watch your head! The ground of Butts Farm have also been sympathetically renovated. The formal herb garden planted by the previous owner has been re dug and gravelled. The orchard provides a stunning array of fruit including eating and cooking apples, 3 variety of plums, greengages, damsons and walnuts. There is also a paddock which can be used for grazing should guests which to holiday with their horse or ponies. There is sufficient parking for a trailer or wagon & we have some brilliant farm rides locally. Please do ask for details. Renovating the cottage has been a huge project for us but we are immensely proud of the end result. This is not your average holiday cottage. The finish is to an extremely high standard & we are sure you will be totally charmed by both the house and it's setting. PET POLICY We are very per friendly at Butts Farm and will accept 2 dogs no problem. If you'd like to book with more dogs just get in touch as we don't have a fixed upper limit but the number would need to be ok'd before booking. We ask that dogs are kept off the furniture and if they are allowed upstairs into the bedrooms that they don't sleep in / on the beds. The std charge is £10 per dog.
The village of Stocksmoor is just outside the Holme Valley & the lovely market town of Holmfirth. There are 4 great dog friendly village pubs within walking distance
  • A lovely house in the countryside which is perfect for an escape. The garden is idyllic with a lovely outside seating area, stunning views and plenty of fruit trees to enjoy! The house is newly refurbished I think so the bathrooms are lovely with big rainfall showers and beds are very comfy. The two double bedrooms are spacious but the twin rooms are tight with just room for the beds in them. All the rooms lack in storage for clothes, we had to live out of suitcases placed in the double bedroom for the weekend which is fine for a weekend but any longer could've been frustrating. The upstairs attic room is adorable and the bathroom is beautiful but it really is only suitable for children as we came a way with a few bruised heads! The only real downside is that a few more basic items weren't provided. There was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms and no dishwasher tablets, additional bin liners or basic kitchen items like salt, pepper or cooking oil. These of course did not ruin the experience but it would've made life easier if they had have been provided. I wouldn't hesitate in booking again as we had a really enjoyable weekend away.

  • It El Do is a lovely little place to stay. Denise and Steve helped us find them with ease and were very helpful in telling us about the local area. It was a lovely place to chill out for a couple of days. Thank you Denise for posting on my charger after I left without it. :)

  • We had a great time staying at It-El-Do! It was a lot bigger than what I had expected and very clean. The facilities were excellent and we really appreciated all the little finishing touches, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, toiletries and towels to name but a few! It really was perfect and the hosts were extremely friendly. Thank you!

  • We are just back from a 2 night stay, lovely accommodation, much bigger than we were expecting, spacious living area with a lovely comfy sofa which leads into a small kitchen (thanks for the milk and chocolates) . Then there is a nice sized bedroom and bathroom. The description mentions it being a converted double garage which I think does it a bit of a disservice and it makes you think it will be small and cramped. The undercover parking right outside the door was a blessing with the inclement weather on our arrival. Will certainly reccomend and rebook if we come back to the area. Also thanks to Denise for getting the keys to me when I arrived much earlier than planned.

Designed by Edwardian architect Edgar Wood, The Parsonage House, Thurlstone is a delightful Grade II listed family home dating from 1906 This house is NOT really suitable for single sex parties- please discuss with owner before booking. If you are intending to use the house for a party of any description, please contact me first.
Designed by eminent Edwardian architect Edgar Wood, the Parsonage House at Thurlstone in South Yorkshire is a delightful Grade II listed family home dating from 1906, situated in a beautiful and peaceful corner of South Yorkshire. I have spent more than a decade restoring the property to its original splendour, creating a stylish but relaxed atmosphere, ideal for both entertaining and unwinding. A spacious building with private garden overlooking the neighbouring Thurston Parish Church and with views extending towards Woodhead Pass - Tourist Board 5 Star Rating. The house makes a perfect location for reunions, family gatherings and those attending a wedding. PARTIES - please contact owner first to discuss. [NOTE - the maximum number to seat round the dining table is 10 and a better number is 8 and whilst the house can sleep 16, this is 9 in beds and the additional 7 are sofa beds and beech slat guest beds.] The Parsonage House is also ideally located for walkers wishing to explore either Derbyshire's Peak District or the spectacular Yorkshire Moors and Dales, while lovers of historic architecture will find many celebrated properties, including Castle Howard, Chatworths House, Brodsworth Hall, Haddon and Hardwick all within easy driving distance. In addition, the village of Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters and now one of the world's most famous centres of literary pilgrimage is just one of many other attractions. Although most visitors are expected to arrive by car, the Parsonage House is also easily accessible by public transport, with a regular train and bus service to Penistone and full bus link from there to Thurlstone. For relaxing at the end of the day, the Hunstman Pub, just a short walk from the Parsonage House in the centre of Thurlstone, in a well-known real ale house, while in Penistone there is a full range of restaurants, including traditional English, Italian and Indian. Penistone even boasts its own cinema, the Paramount, which screens all the latest movie releases and also hosts local drama companies. The Paramount is also extremely well known as the home of one of Britain's few surviving fully-working cinema organs.
  • We've just finished a wonderful Christmas week at The Paraonage, thank you Jonathan: we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfy beds, pleasing decor. If you intend to do a lot of cooking, the extra fridge, which doesn't always seem to be available, is extremely useful And the rayburn is the only oven: be mentally prepared for your Christmas turkey and trimmings! It's easy enough to use, but isn't massive. Previous comments were helpful: the furniture is obviously valuable and understandably the host would like everyone to treat the house and its contents with care and respect. The rooms are not big enough to seat everyone on chairs in the same room: if you are aware of that from the outset, it's fine. 10 is doable with extra chairs in the dining room. The dog and partridge is a great pub nearby. If you enjoy country walks, get the local ordnance survey maps: there are fantastic hikes right outside the door. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay!

    Helen2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was spacious, even for 15 having an extra bed in the double/twin rooms was fine for a weekend. There were plenty of places in the house to hang out so our group could all be together or be in smaller groups. Check in was simple and Lisa the housekeeper kept up great communication even sourcing us takeaway menus. I had an amazing birthday in a lovely house in a beautiful setting. It's hard to find any negatives but a few of my guests thought it was odd to put on our own bed linen and due to a few previous guests causing damage and being careless there were a lot of signs. Also we could have done with a bit more fridge space. I wish we had stayed longer it was such a lovely weekend and we even had sunny weather.

    Laura2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the house for a hen do. The house was very beautiful. We had a great weekend but my experience was ruined due to the rudeness, effrontery, pestilence, aggravation and insupportable attitude of the host, Jonathan. A pull out bed was accidentally broken as one of the women struggled to open it. I reported the problem to the housekeeper as soon as I found out in the morning. I cannot express in 500 words how intolerable this host is. I would have recommended the house to others but will not owing to his discourtesy as a host.

    Laura2015-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Parsonage. The house is really luxurious without loosing that cosy feeling. We were a party of 11 adults and we didn’t feel squished in. The property is a tiny bit hard to find in the dark which lead to one of our party calling Jonathan who (despite being disturbed in South Africa!) was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is very well equipped and a good size for preparing meals for larger groups. The hostess trolley proved jolly useful for serving up and the dinning room is beautiful. People considering a visit should bear in mind that there is some very expensive furniture in the house which was helpfully pointed out by notes on arrival. The handy house brochure (sent ahead by email) was also well thumbed throughout our visit. A huge thank you to Jonathan for allowing us to visit and to Geoff and Avril for being on hand if we had needed them.

    Charlotte2015-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan's house is lovely and we had a wonderful family get-together. The kitchen is very well equipped and the Rayburn easy to use and as a professional cook I was delighted it performed well. The bedrooms are beautiful as are the bathrooms. Many thanks

Denby Dale is a peaceful village, with all necessary amenities. Popular with walkers. Rail station with service to Huddersfield, Sheffield, Manchester Airport and more. Use of Kitchen, living space, garden, and shared bathroom with one resident.
The house is a terraced hundred-year-old mill workers' cottage, on a quiet lane a few hundred yards from the main street of the village. My home is decorated to be characterful and quirky but homely. My gardens are always full of flowers and veg (and birds!), and a stream flows just behind the back.
The village is a peaceful place, but has most of the amenities you could ask for; a medium-sized supermarket, a bakery, organic greengrocer, an Indian and Thai restaurant, pizza, Chinese and fish-and-chip takeaways, a bookshop, a library, a tea room and of course a couple of pubs. There's a tennis court a stone's throw away and cricket and crown green bowling fields just a little further. The dramatic sandstone viaduct counterpoints the surrounding rural landscape beautifully, and established walking paths including the Trans-Pennine Trail and Kirklees Way travel through the village. The village is surrounded by agriculture, and horses, cows, sheep and even alpaca are a common sight, as well as wide fields of cereal crops.
  • I felt at home the moment I arrived! Babette is a wonderful and welcoming host and her house is comfortable, unique, peaceful.. and the setting is stunning. The river, the garden and the nearby Yorkshire Sculpture Park were some highlights of my 5 day stay and I recommend that you go and see for yourselves!

    Dolly2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Babette is responsive and flexible, and made it very easy for me to stay with her. Her house is (in my opinion) nicer than her current photos suggest. It has a fantastic view to the front of a beautiful viaduct, and a lovely garden to the rear. The bedroom is comfortable and clean. Nice bedlinen and new towels added to a positive experience.

    adele2014-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful setting to spend a few nights and Babette was so welcoming. Being able to park right outside the door was an added plus. Definitely somewhere I would consider returning to.

  • I would highly recommend a stay with Babette. Her beautiful cottage is warm and homely, and Babette is welcoming and friendly. My hectic schedule was no hassle at all and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sun with such and interesting, well travelled person.

  • Babette has a beautiful home and was incredibly accommodating given that I arrived rather late and running very short on time to get to my friend's wedding! The room was everything that I needed and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thanks Babette!

  • I had a lovely 3 night stay with Babette. Perfect location, easy parking and comfortable room. Babette was extremely welcoming and helpful and I would recommend to others. House is situated just a few minutes walk form the village amenities and is very quiet and peaceful. Thank you.

  • Don't know where to start . I enjoyed my stay at Babettes place and our chat about everything. She is a great host that you can only wish for. Place is neat and comfy, quiet and close to transport if you need it. There are even squirells near by, so relaxing watching nature is great. Shops, takeaway food, bars and restaurants are close by, walking distance, about 200 - 500 meters away. I would definitely stay here again, infact I wouldn't want to stay elsewhere if I get back to nearby area. Thanks for a very welcoming stay dear

A superb, luxury glamping Yurt - set in beautiful woodland on the edge of our farmland in the Yorkshire Pennine hills. Log stove, private kitchen/ bathroom, own hot-tub and use of the owners heated indoor pool. Only short walk to village pub/ cafe
  • We had a wonderful weekend away at Maythorn Yurt. It was very clean, warm and very well equipped. The underfloor heating meant we were never cold despite the snow outside and the wood burner was warm and atmospheric. Steve was there as soon as we arrived and guided us through the snow to our yurt. We enjoyed walks in the beautiful countryside, the friendly pub down the road and sitting in the hot tub surrounded by snowy trees and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)ing robins. Every detail had been thought of. There were robes, slippers, Latvian socks, eggs, bacon, bread and homemade jam on arrival. Really enjoyed it and would very much recommend it to anyone.

    Jennifer 2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have just arrived home from our 2 night stay in the Rowan yurt. It exceeded our expectations, it was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful and the grounds were so quaint and tranquil. The yurt was set amongst lots of trees to give 100% privacy to be able to enjoy our romantic wedding anniversary stay. We ate at a lovely local pub one evening, this was just a 2 minute walk from uppergate farm. Other than our meal out we relaxed in the hottub with champagne followed by a bbq's. So perfect. Thankyou for our wonderful experience.

    Louisa2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend in Rowan yurt! It was cosy and warm during our stay and we loved the hot tub! There were plenty of places to explore in the area and we particularly enjoyed walking round a few reservoirs not far away.

  • The Yurt was fantastic and a brilliant place to stay. Steven made us both feel very welcome and gave a very thorough tour of the space and the surrounding farm. There was plenty of supplies available including freshly made bread which was a really nice touch. The Yurt has everything we could need including a hot tub, incredible bed (I haven't slept so well in months) and kitchen/bathroom. Loved using the log burner too to make it feel really toasty.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the yurt. The other reviews are right - they really have thought about every little detail! We hadn't realised before we got there but there are other cottages that are rented out and another yurt. They have a booking sheet for the pool/sauna/steam room which works really well - you could have it to yourself! Really nice walks and the pub nearby is lovely too. Would 100% recommend and love to go back! Thank you!

  • Steve made us extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. He gave us a run down of the farm & the facilities then showed us to the yurt. The yurt is incredible. Nice little woodland location & everything you need. Warm cosy & luxerious but still with the feeling of being out in the wild. The fridge was stocked with bread & homemade jam which was very kind. Big comfy bed, bathroom with toileteries & the hot tub on the deck made it. Steve & Allison couldn't do enough to make it a fantastic trip. The area has plenty to do. Great local pubs & walks. Holmfirth is only 1/2 hr walk or 10mins in a cab or bus with lots of cracking pubs, bars & places to eat. You can even get up & feed the animals on the farm in the morning. I would sincerely recommend staying here to anyone & would love to stay here again.
