We had a wonderful time in this rustic cottage on picturesque lake Onderdonk. All the supplies and comforts of home were available for us to barbecue and entertain family yet still had access to WiFi. We would return to enjoy this property, thank you very much.

Even though we were delayed on arrival, Loretta was kind enough to wait for us. It was a wonderful place and her property is expansive and peaceful. We saw deer hanging out by their small pond. We loved being unplugged, but had the option of great Wifi. Our dog loved it and we hope to make it back some day!

Our stay at Loretta's was excellent in every way. Communication before-hand was seamless and the apartment was just as we expected. Loretta recommended a gorgeous hike to a waterfall nearby, which was easy enough for my wife and I to do with our toddler in a hiking backpack. At her recommendation, we also checked out the nearby hip town of Hudson and tried an excellent French patisserie. We also explored the serene woods on their property. The apartment was spotless, and a peaceful energy abounded on the entire property. Also, nice water pressure in the shower! Would definitely recommend.

This place was an incredible find. The location is stunning and the room was lovely. There were squirrels and chipmunks running around and deer roaming on the range. Very quiet and tranquil. The view was beautiful as the sun set over the trees while I sipped a beer on my private balcony. The room is really a separate unit from the house with its own access so very private. It had everything I needed except kitchen stuff so Loretta kindly heated up my meal for me. Everything was spotless and very comfortable. Thoroughly recommended.

Loretta's place was not only beautiful but also provided with all kind of details. It was incredibly clean and comfortable. Despite being located adjacent to their property, it is totally private even on the way you access to it. Perfect for a couple getaway and facing beautiful views. Communication was great and their suggestions for activities and places around really useful. We were really impressed by this place and Loretta and Ted's attention to details for their guests. Highly recommended

Peter's house in Rensselaerville is completely charming. It is extremely quiet there, which I especially love. You feel close to nature and in tune with the elements. The house itself has all the romance of the 19th century and the comforts of today. It is extremely beautiful inside, full of gorgeous and interesting pieces of furniture and objects of art, but it is also homey and comfortable. Peter is a gracious host, and his home is a treasure and a great escape.

Peter has a lovely house located on a quiet country road that leads into the hamlet of Rensselaerville. The back patio looks out onto an expansive yard and a nature preserve, and we ate all of our meals out there, watching the birds and taking in the restful scenery. Peter also has an amazing eye, and the house is filled with his collection of paintings, drawings and beautiful objects. There's a wonderful swimming lake that's a five minute drive from his house, and it's also surrounded by well-marked hiking trails. Peter was a gracious host and was very responsive to our questions. Highly recommended.

The house is wonderful, cozy, and SO quiet at night; the location as expected (middle of nowhere!); and the hosts exemplary. Greg and Duvet were very communicative, accommodating and helpful -- even sent an email before our stay of what to do in the area. Having followed nearly all of their recommendations, I can tell you that almost no planning is necessary as a result... just do what they suggest! We'll definitely stay here again when we're heading to the area next.

The house is beautiful! And although Greg isn't there personally, Donna the caretaker for the house was very attentive and always a call away with anything that we needed. We also went up during a snowstorm and she was constantly calling to make sure we were all ok. The house is great to go with a group of friends and we especially loved the kitchen, since we all cook together.

We (a large group of 3 families) stayed in Medusa for a week. During the rental process Greg was very communicative and helpful. The location of the house was ok - 30 mins away from Widnham where we went skiing. When we arrived, the lights were on for us so it felt good to be welcomed. The house itself was a disappointment though. The listing photos show it in a great light. In reality it felt really small and crammed, specifically the common areas. Dining room with a large table serves as an entrance to the house which made it very hard to pass. Additionally, the common areas were VERY cold all the time (while the bedrooms were super hot). 2 space heaters were provided but there were not enough to keep those rooms warm. A few other things to note: no locks on bathrooms, water pressure was low, cupboard where all glassware was stored smelled really bad, rooms were dusty. Greg did provide the contact information of the caretaker, but the last thing we wanted to do on vacation was to deal with house issues and asking for somebody to come in and fix things.

The Root Cellar on Magic Forest Farm was everything we could have hoped for. A wondrous find! The cellar is situated on a working farm with a gorgeous view; the room itself is all we could have hoped for and had every amenity we needed. Everyone we had encountered on the farm was friendly and hospitable-- even all of the animals. We will definitely be coming back here as soon as we get the chance!

Airbnb asks if I'd recommend this place to a friend. I already have. This is a special place. You can tell that much care went into making it that way. You're staying on a farm, but you've still got all the amenities you might need in this room. Everything is a work of art, hand built with care. There is a queen size bed, a full bathroom, a fireplace, an actual kitchen, a TV, and a beautiful view out the window. Right outside your door is a koi pond and place to sit and relax. There are ducks and chicken, several goats, a very friendly small cow right on the other side of a pretty small fence. You can pet them. There are also horses a bit further away. This is an actual working farm, and you can eat a vegetarian dinner with your hosts and some of their people for a small fee. I'm no vegetarian, but there was nothing missing from the meal. I was very satisfied, and wish I could eat that good at every meal. They know what they're doing. They can teach you about what they do here, or just let you in and you do your own thing. The experience is up to you. They named their place Magic Forest Farm, and that is pretty accurate. It does feel magical here. They're doing a great thing, and I'm glad they're willing to share their place with us here on airbnb. They also have a tipi that I've stayed in. And it was also great. But the root cellar, which I'm reviewing here is definitely the better choice if you're not used to camping, and need something more like a hotel. The root cellar is much more relaxing, and it immediately felt like home. If you need to stay in the area, give these guys a try. I'd stay here any time over a traditional hotel.

It's a magical spot to be, with decor and furnishings that feel like you're in a fairy tale. It was great to be amidst the bustle of the farm and watch the farm animals. The ducks were my favorite, and they would visit me daily on the patio. Come relax, unwind, and rejuvenate!

Our hosts made us feel very welcome, like we were part of their family. We enjoyed the warm atmosphere and the breathtaking views from our private room and the surrounding areas. The perfect weekend get-away, it was quiet and relaxing, everything we were expecting! We will definitely be booking again very soon.

We had a very special experience. The location is gorgeous and the place is very cozy full of handcrafted details, including a cast iron fireplace and a pond with a waterfall fountain. We really enjoyed cooking thanks to a fully equipped kitchen and having meals on the lovely terrace by the pond. It has a spectacular view and it was so wonderful to listen to the goats, chickens and other beautiful farm and wildlife. There are a few trails to hike around and for further hiking and or sightseeing you can drive to lots of nearby places including the Catskills. Our hosts where very nice and super helpful to any additional things we needed, including sharing some fresh milk and the most delicious olive oil which we forgot to bring. I look forward to returning and would highly recommend to anyone looking for the perfect nature getaway.

This is one of the most exquisite homes I've ever stayed in. Everything is of the highest quality-the towels, the cooking utenstils, even the handmade ceramics. The house itself is beautiful-secluded and peaceful and with every creature comfort you can imagine. There are plenty of cozy nooks and crannies to read any of the numerous (color coded!) books that line the many bookshelves. I loved staying here and can't wait for my next trip.

The house is fantastic and extremely well decorated. The lounge and dining areas made our stay special and everyone had a great time. The kitchen has everything you could ever want and the layout of the house is perfect for families. The rooms are very large and there was plenty of space. We had a great time and cant wait to go back.

I could not recommend a stay with Kathryn more highly. When we booked the trip, the forecast called for mild weather. However, it quickly deteriorated upon arrival. Kathryn quickly and kindly allowed us to change our reservation and stay in a warmer building on the same property, saving our entire trip. Had it been warmer, I am sure we would have enjoyed our stay in the glamping cabin, which was beautiful and rustic and secluded at the back of her property. The main farmhouse, which we ended up staying in, was beautifully decorated, mixing quaint charm with modern convenience. The bottom line is this - Kathryn was the most wonderful host we could have imagined. Stay with her, she truly cares about her guests.

We had such a magical weekend at the cabin. It was the exact escape we were looking for. Kathryn was immensely helpful and welcoming.

Kathryn was very welcoming and thorough in explaining the lay of the land to us. The cabin is perfect for two and the fire pit is where we spent most of our time. The creek is just a short walk from the site and makes for a wonderful walk along the bank. The privy is one of the nicest I've seen and the solar shower area is great. Though we did not use it, the goat barn with Internet and kitchen are a nice accommodation to have. All good things, thanks Kathryn!

"Glamping", a very comfortable alternative to camping. My husband and I were headed to Greyfox bluegrass festival. Although I started looking months in advance, I found accommodation listings sparse. Rachel's listing really caught my eye, but I didnt get my hopes up and kept an open mind. My husband (early 60's) loves camping. I would prefer less work and a comfortable bed, we got the best of both worlds. Rachel and Eric very welcoming, accommodating, communicative and unobtrusive. They live on a beautiful working farm, that offers beauty, nature and privacy to their guests. They offered a delicious optional breakfast, I would recommend. They have a few other campsites available, but you have plenty of space and privacy. You cant drive a car to the site, but Eric offers his tractor to haul your gear. Its a very civilized 5 minute walk to site. Rachel recommended a flashlight, but we find we did better by moonlight. This was a convenient comfortable weekend away for me, and I didnt have to bring the camping gear, but we both wished we planned for more time just to hang around the campsite, a piece of "heaven on earth". Thanks for a lovely weekend away!

This was such an amazing place to stay!! The tent was unbelievably homey and comfortable and the farm is gorgeous. Rachel and Eric are great hosts - they told us all about the farm and let us wander around at our leisure. The tent site feels very remote and private even though it's a pretty close walk to the farm itself. Rachel and Eric went to great lengths to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and we definitely plan on returning!

What a wonderful respite from summer in the city! I would love to return in the fall, too. My husband and I enjoyed such a peaceful, romantic evening in the amazing Bedouin style tent; I just wish we could have stayed longer! This is the perfect combination of beautiful, rustic nature and total comfort -- as someone who loves campfires, seclusion and quiet but doesn't like sleeping in a regular tent, I found this ideal! The inside of the glamping tent is beautifully furnished, and the king sized bed very comfortable with soft blankets. Even after a hot, humid day, the campsite was wonderfully cool at night. We sat under a million brilliant stars and enjoyed our camp fire and each other's company amongst the croaking of bullfrogs and flicker of fireflies. Rachel was a fantastic host, and treated us to a delicious breakfast in the morning, complete with farm fresh eggs and veggies. We loved seeing a working farm in action, and felt completely welcomed into daily activities. We really enjoyed talking with her about local, sustainable agriculture. Rachel directed us to a local swimming hole under a waterfall -- so dreamy and refreshing! The area is filled with hiking trails, hidden swimming spots and rural beauty. We ate almost entirely locally, savoring the produce of the season. Overall, this place is a real gem and a true get-away. We can't wait to return!

Hello! My boyfriend, Vince and I spent a weekend at this lovely farm and it was the best vacation we've ever had! Rachel and Eric are extremely welcoming and warm. They're fantastic hosts, the glamping tent we stayed in was gorgeous with pillows and books and a bean bag chair ! We also took advantage of the activities they offer throughout the farm, like jam making and bee keeping and volunteering at the farm ! We loved every second of it. This place is amazing. Rachel & Eric where in contact with us since the very first moment, offering help and advices to find them easily. They gave us directions, plans, general information and they also waited for us even thought we arrive very late due to a flight delay. the place is wonderful located in a beautiful very private spot. perfect for a romatic get away or just for a simple weekend outside the city. great local food, farm eggs, delicious muffins and all you need to enjoy the stay. just notice there are no showers but beautiful waterfalls 20 min drive where you can rinse of and play with water.

Eric and Rachel were amazing hosts. Warm and generous, they took the time to welcome us with detailed directions, then took a step back to let us enjoy the spectacular scenery. From the comfortable bed, to a wonderful collection of books to enjoy during a passing thunderstorm, everything could not have been more perfect. Grilling dinner with ingredients from their farm under the stars made it seem like we had nothing left to be delight by. But then... The farm breakfast in the morning rivaled the best brunch you've ever had. We can't wait to go back.

This place is a true gem tucked away in a small town in the Catskills! If you're looking to go off the grid for a night, this is the place to go. We went with our 3 year old twins for the night and they loved it! We had our own private camp site with a fire pit, grill and picnic table. There was a beautiful pond nearby as well. There was a common area that had basic necessities such as utensils, a coffee maker, cups etc and a potato potty with a hand washing station. Soon after we arrived, Eric and Rachael walked over to introduce themselves. What a nice couple!! They made us feel very welcomed and were just very kind people. We explored the property a little later on and got to see the ducks, turkeys and chicken's. Our kids love animal's. It's a beautiful piece of property and Rachael and Eric have done a marvelous job maintaining it's integrity and beauty. We plan to make this a yearly tradition with our twins.

4 of us booked Full Moon Farm last minute for a 4th of July getaway from the city. I am SO glad we did! We had such an AMAZING time/getaway and felt so relaxed the minute we got there. The house is extremely spacious with a great kitchen for cooking which we did a lot of! We also grilled, went in the hot tub at night and just stared at the blanket of stars. This place is really magical for a special retreat in the country. We went hiking nearby and experienced the beautiful waterfalls! If you need a retreat to recharge this is really it. Angelina was more than helpful with any questions and we loved the welcome personalization on the chalkboard, we felt right at home! The dog Louis, was in heaven. Loved that this place was dog friendly, he got to run, chase the ball, go on long walks, he slept more than he ever has. Thank you so much for letting us experience your wonderful, tranquil getaway. Being surrounded by nature, fireflies, beautiful flowers and hanging out with friends enjoying a glass of wine and great food, it just doesn't get any better. Thank you Angelina!

From the moment we arrived there was a certain magic in the air. We arrived much later in the evening due to a last minute commitment, so we rolled in while it was dark. After unpacking the car my wife and I spent a few hours just staring at the stars! We saw 6 shooting stars and 3 satellites! There were so many stars! We slept in the bedroom with the soaking tub and the bed was nice and comfortable (some rentals have not so comfortable beds, so this was a nice bonus)! Waking up and having coffee in the hot tub while watching the various humming birds buzz around with in a few feet of us going about their daily pollination was something else we'd never experienced. The hot tub was amazing, no choline or harsh chemicals. The kitchen was a perfect space as well! We lit a fire in the back yard and used the ashes to cook our farm gathered food (veggies and meats). After visiting the local farms we had no need to go to a grocery store at all (I highly recommend this move as the food was beyond tasty)!!! We even picked up local vodka, beer and apple brandy! The whole experience was incredible! The second day it rained and we stayed in lit the fire near the kitchen and played bored games for hours listening to the rain fall. Angelina was on top of everything and available to us even though she was traveling. She was helpful and sweet! Top notch host, top notch home and experience! I recommend this to any couple, couples for a comfortable, quiet getaway in a beautiful setting!

I had such a great time at Rachel and Brian's place. I stayed in the Yurt over the weekend and it was really cozy. I enjoyed the meals that Rachel and Brian prepared very much. Went for a swim in the lake and also used the canoe. The dogs are so sweet and the land is so tranquil and beautiful. I had great privacy in the yurt and was able to enjoy the silence and the sun. The hosts provided me with everything I needed and we had some great conversation. I will definitely go again, it was lovely!

It was great staying at the yurt! We had a wonderful time! Brian was super nice to us. I also recommend the breakfast, which includes fresh-baked bread, yoghurt and omelette! A beautiful place to stay, especially if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle in the city.

Rachel and Brian were so accommodating, even with such short notice---I spontaneously booked by trip the night before I left and confirmed early the next morning! They picked my up and dropped me off for an additional fee but it was well worth my stay in their lovely 90 acre land. I had fresh home cooked food everyday: homemade gluten free bread, chili with pumpkins seeds, and delicious fruit crumble with coconut milk. It was a little cooler than the weather man had predicted so Brian heated two stone bricks to place in the yurt bed for my comfort and it managed to stay warm until the next morning! I spent most of my day frolicking in their woods, canoeing on their lake and petting the farm animals--- it proved to be the perfect sanctuary away from the wild noisy city. I would love to come back again and try out their small cabin off the lake with friends.

Rachel & Bryan are amazing! I felt immediately welcome and grounded in their woodsy/organic farm retreat. The yurt is awesome and cozy and far enough away to feel remote but not too far that I couldn't grab a shower or hot coffee from their house - perfect combination of glamping that I love and hope to stay again!

My partner and I stayed here for one month during the fall while I was doing some work in the area. This charming country cottage is a perfect place for anyone looking for a base to explore New England, the Catskills, and/or central New York, etc. Also, it would be great just for a couple of nights for anyone looking for some peace and quiet and a little fresh country air. The house has great vibes, i.e. none of that haunted house feeling you sometimes get in pastoral settings. The hosts: Peter and Sara were very attentive in getting back to us with any and all questions, they were a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend it.

What a blissful cottage. The place is perfect for cooking and hunkering down when it is cold or getting outside and kicking up the Fall leaves. The beds are comfy and the home feels distinct to its history and you get to feel a part of that staying here. The road is quiet and the views of the hills, meadows and forest are beautiful. The building is pretty old so don't come expecting perfect insulation and a powerful heating system in the winter, there is heating but it will keep the edge off and you may choose to wear a hat. I imagine in the summer it is perfect with a light breeze with the windows on both sides of the house open.

Sarah and Peter were lovely hosts - they gave me great instructions to find the house, as well as thoughtful notes around the house once I arrived, brochures for local attractions, bug spray, toiletries, and plentiful warm blankets. I'd particularly recommend their place if you're looking for a quiet, secluded place to read or write (as I was), though I'm sure with its two porches their house would be a wonderful place to stay with friends as well.

We spent a long weekend in Medusa relaxing and enjoying the fall colors. The house is in a beautiful location, and everywhere you go is a scenic drive! The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a great place to disconnect from the city madness. Sarah and Peter were lovely hosts - they provided lots of useful info and were readily available to answer questions. They made every effort to make our stay easy and enjoyable!

We were married in Rensselaerville on Saturday, August 25, and needed a place to stay for the week leading up to the wedding where we could work a bit as needed but also unwind, relax, and get ready. This cottage is exactly as described in the title: Absolute Peace! Each morning the sun rose over the screened-in porch and we relaxed there with our cat and French-pressed coffee, listening to the birds and watching the light magically shift over the trees and fields. One night we took hot chocolate outside under the stars, which were plentiful - also perfection, not even too buggy. Inside, the house was actually quite spacious despite being only 1 bed / 1 bath - lots of nooks to work in, GREAT kitchen with picture window, cozy and extremely comfortable sleeping situation (certainly one of the best futons I've ever experienced). Most importantly, Sarah and Peter were so laid back, flexible and friendly. They left very clear and helpful instructions and offered excellent advice. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, though I'm afraid we'll have little opportunity since typically we have my grandparents' large house available in R'ville. NOTE: There is absolutely no cell phone service here or in a 1-2 mile radius. We considered this a good thing. Also, the Yellow Deli at the bottom of the hill in Oak Hill has delicious food although some slightly off-putting bathroom wallpaper.

Aaron's place is magical, pictures don't do it justice. Aaron was great at communication and gave us a thorough introduction to the house and amazing amenities. Would defintiely recommend this place for the future.

Rose's place is quite a gem tucked away in upstate New York. The drive there was easy and very scenic. Her place is outside the town of Middleburgh which is right off the highway. As soon as you leave the town and make the drive to her cabin, you're transported into a gorgeous rural community sprawled through patches of forests and lakes. Rose's cabin is a super quick walk from Crystal Lake. (You can see it from the front porch) I wasn't able to take a swim during my stay, but I wish I did! The water was crystal clear and gorgeous. I hope I can come by again and have a swim! The place itself is cute and quaint. It is next door to Rose's house. The cabin has gorgeous, new hardwood floors and the decor has a simple country cabin feel. Though small with 2 bedrooms, there are enough beds for 5 people, so it fit my group of 3 perfectly. The kitchen and bathroom had all the necessary amenities. Rose was a great host. She responded fairly quick after my request. She's super sweet. You'll definitely enjoy your stay!

Rose's lakeside house was truly delightful. The house comfortably slept 4 and it was kept very neat and tidy. The lake was beautiful both during the day and at night. We met Rose as we were checking out and had a great conversation with her about the house and her neighborhood.
