Places to stay in Wheddon Cross
A delightful converted barn tucked away in a valley that can accommodate 6 people. Set in stunning scenery with uninterrupted views over the hills and a cobbled courtyard to the rear, home to our farmyard characters - ducks, chickens and Thunderbolt the goose. There is a small enclosed garden area to enjoy a bit of al fresco living and includes a BBQ.
Wheddon Cross is right in the heart of Exmoor. Excellently located for exploring the whole it is a thriving village. There is a village pub in walking distance, a petrol station, village shop and a church. The village is the highest on Exmoor and the closest to Dunkery Beacon the highest point on Exmoor.

  • A beautiful barn in a peaceful setting on a farm next to the chicken and ducks (who are lovely). Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful log burner. Lovely view from the lounge doors over the hills. Short drives to most walks on the moors or woods. Rachael is friendly and welcoming. Local shop is handy.

  • We had such a lovely stay at the barn, it was cosy yet spacious with lots of extra touches. Rachael was great to communicate too, v responsive and nothing was too much bother. We’d definitely come back!

  • We stayed here for New years, there where 5 of us with 3 dogs. The place is really spacious and perfect for staying with dogs. Great location for walking. Rachel supplied us with lush freshly made bread, jam, butter, milk and eggs from the chickens, really lovely. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook a big meal. We also very much enjoyed the log fire. Very comfy and cosy cottage.

  • Rachael's place was ideal for our family of 6 and dog. Very roomy, well equipped and warm . Good views and a pub 5 mins away. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. Rachael was very helpful , baked bread for our arrival with jam and butter, and milk too.

  • Rachael is a wonderful host, the barn is superbly laid out with the kitchen/lounge in the centre of the accommodation. Rachael bent over backwards to make our first trip away stress free while we adjust to parenthood with a 2 week old baby. Even adjusting heating times so the midnight feeds were warm! Excellent.

    Karl2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The barn was sparkling clean and very spacious. There was plenty to explore on the farm and Rachael gave us some great tips about where to go exploring. We would never had headed to Dunkery beacon if she’d not have suggested it. It is a perfect location and you don’t need to travel far to get to many of the interesting places in Exmoor. When we arrived there was a fresh loaf in the bread maker which was such a lovely surprise. The place smelt wonderful. We had a fantastic stay, thank you Rachael.

This is the real deal--a one lane country road with hedges on both sides for the last half mile. Once you get there--a tranquil location awaits you with a fantastic panoramic view. We enjoyed two days of peaceful Exmoor quietness.

  • The farm was perfect for us in a lovely quiet remote location approximately 25 minutes drive away from Porlock or Lynton. The lane was a bit bumpy so cats low to the ground must be wary. It wasn’t a problem for our SUV type vehicle. You will probably be greeted by the lovely natured farm dogs. They didn’t bark or jump up. The countryside views were beautiful there , rain or shine. The accommodation was very clean, warm and had all the amenities required for a mini break. The bathroom was a good size ; the bedroom had plenty of storage with an external rail for hanging clothes. The kitchen diner and lounge were excellent with a good Wi-fi signal. We didn’t meet the host but were were out and about most of the time and it is a working farm. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • This place is great and the farm is lovely. One down point is that the running water doesnt stay hot enough to run a bath or to fill the sink.

  • My husband and I, with our little dog stayed at Jasmine’s for a weekend in Feb. Jasmine’s place is absolutely lovely, amazingly clean, warm, and very comfortable and homely. We had dinner on Friday night at the local pub- call to book - as it got busy really quickly. All the locals seemed to be there! The food was great, the pub was cozy, and very very very dog friendly (never seen this many dogs in a pub!). We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for hosting us!

The Snug is a cosy cottage ideal for a couple or friends looking for some time away. With a log burner and a bedroom with exposed beams offering views over Dunkery Beacon, you might never want to leave the house! Freshly renovated and located in the centre of the village of Timberscombe, The Snug is an ideal location for short to medium length breaks or those who are planning on spending the majority of their time in the great outdoors.
Downstairs we have a cosy lounge with a log burner and a small kitchenette (mini fridge, kettle, tea and coffee), allowing you to make a warm drink after a day exploring Exmoor. Upstairs is the king sized bedroom and the bathroom. Please note that this is an old cottage, so the stairs are fairly steep. We are happy to welcome well behaved dogs (one medium sized or maximum of two small), but please do not allow dogs on the furniture or upstairs, or leave them unattended. Please also note that there is no garden with The Snug. However there are many walks and places to toilet your dogs a few metres from the front door. For those looking to stay connected whilst away, we have fibre broadband with a dedicated guest mesh WiFi network, meaning you will have fast and reliable internet. Phone signal is generally good in the village. Vodafone, EE, and O2 customers should get 4G reception. ‘Three’ customers may struggle indoors, but WiFi calling is possible on our WiFi.
Timberscombe is a traditional farming village in the Exmoor National Park and is in prime position for exploring the surrounding area. In the village itself we have a fantastic pub, The Lion Inn, which is highly recommended for a meal and a drink. Conveniently it's just a few doors down, so within easy stumbling distance! There's also a local shop and Post Office should you need to top up on essential supplies. We're a three mile (six minute) drive to the historic medieval village of Dunster. Alternatively you can walk there via Nutcombe Bottom forest, which contains the tallest tree in England! We are also ideally placed to enjoy Snowdrop Valley, which is a spectacle not to be missed if you're visiting in the winter. Minehead is six miles (10 minutes) down the road, and contains all of the amenities you could require for a week away. There are three supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, and Lidl) all within a stones throw of each other. Exmoor is a walking and cycling (road or mountain) heaven. We’ve created a list of our favourite routes, which you can find in your Guest Handbook when you arrive. These are a combination of spectacular routes leaving from the front door, and those further afield which you’ll need to travel to. Horse riding and fishing are two of the other major hobbies, with plenty of locations to give these a go. Golfers can find Somerset’s oldest golf course down at Minehead, which is a links course based on the coast. For the more adventurous, Wimbleball Lake and Porlock Weir are both a 20 minute drive away, and allow for swimming, kayaking, and other water sports. For those looking for beaches, Minehead is big and sandy and great for a family day out. Porlock and Bossington are quieter, but are pebbly. A bit further afield are the magnificent Woolacombe and Croyde beaches which are famous for surfing.
  • The Snug was perfect for a weekend escape - cosy and comfy for exploring Somerset and Exmoor. Loved my time there and will definitely be back

    Matt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, great location within yards from the village pub. Would definitely recommend this place and the hosts Matt and Jess. Thank you x

    Sue2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Snug to be a lovely place to stay, exactly as described and Matt and Jess were very attentive hosts going the extra mile with special touches. We were thrilled to be greeted by a specially baked vegan cake! Sparkly clean and with a great cosy feel, the woodburner was also a welcome touch for the January weather. Easily found within the heart of the village, there is a great pub a moments walk away. Keen walkers can leave the car parked up and hike up to Dunkery Beacon and back with Matt thoughtfully supplying laminated guides/maps of the local trails. Matt also provided us with plenty of information before we arrived too. We would certainly happily go back.

  • A lovely cottage in a peaceful location. Nice and clean and very comfortable. Great communication with Helena before we arrived and whilst we were there. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. Our 2 grandsons (10 & 6) very much enjoyed exploring the fields and woods around the farm. A great time was had by all

  • Highly recommend this cottage. It is located on a working farm in beautiful countryside. Helena was a very welcoming host. The cottage is exceptionally clean and well equipped, we had everything we needed. A great location to visit Dunster, Minehead and explore Exmoor National Park. We enjoyed meeting all the farms dogs and the horses who pop their heads over the wall in the morning to say hello! Our dog loved her morning and evening walks around the the farm! It is wonderfully quiet at night, you can sit in the garden and look up at the stars! We had a very enjoyable stay and hope to visit again in the future.

Garden Retreat is a cottage style apartment within a tastefully converted Victorian coach house and stables. Garden retreat sleeps two in a double bedroom with an onsuite shower room. There is an open plan kitchen living room with a dinning table and two sofas. Double French doors open on to a private patio area and which then leads in to the walled garden of Periton Park Court.
Periton Park Court is a secluded location at the end of a third of a mile private drive. With plenty of space for parking. It is surrounded by 30 acres of its own gardens, pasture and woodland with direct access to the Exmoor National Park. Guests also have access to Periton Park Courts heated outside swimming pool which is open from May to September. The gardens at Periton Park host an abundance of bird life including regular visits from a family of Ravens which we feed on the front lawn. Red Deer can be seen in the fields and they often take advantage of grazing our lush lawn in front of the house. From the walled garden to the rear of the house there are views across our fields, to the woods and a glimpse of the Bristol Channel.
PERITON PARK Provides a gateway to EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK. A fenced track crosses our fields to the south provides direct access to the Park. A perfect playground for Walkers, Mountain Bikers and Horse riders. For the adventurous Mountain Biker there are tracks prepared by local enthusiasts in the woods just south of Periton. Be prepared it's not flat. This is EXMOOR. If you haven't yet discovered Exmoor you are in for a treat. It is the undiscovered corner of the south west with quiet country lanes and uncrowded beauty spots even in the busy July/August months. Those that have discovered Exmoor return again and again. Beware, quite a number of our regular visitors have become so enchanted by the area they now live here!! For beach lovers there are a number of beaches within a short distance, Minehead Beach/Harbour 1.5 miles, Dunster Beach 3 miles, Blue Anchor Beach 5 miles, Porlock Weir Harbour/Beach 5 miles. The famous surfing beaches at Woolacombe & Croyde are approximately 90 minutes west by car on roads with some spectacular scenery to view as you cross Exmoor. Why not visit Lynmouth on the way (about 30 minutes west of Periton.)
  • Amazing place to stay to take in Exmoor, Dunster, Porlock and the local beaches. Accommodation is outstanding and Stuart and Charlie charming hosts; friendly and helpful. The setting for Periton Court is gorgeous, with a lovely forest walk just out of the back gate - ideal if you are taking your dog. Couldn't recommended this place too highly - we would love to go back.

  • Fantastic place to stay in beautiful Exmoor. Charlotte and Stuart are brilliant hosts!

  • The apartment is quite lovely and spacious. Totally agree with description, photos and previous review. Kitchen was well equipped. Comfortable seating both inside and out. We were lucky to have fantastic weather so breakfast outside on the patio was a real treat. We were interested in hiking and Stuart gave us some great ideas. There is also a laundry room onsite near the barn which came in very useful. Highly recommend for quiet, beautiful countryside and relaxation.

    Sandi & Jim2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place is a Somerset gem. The small flat really is a retreat - quiet and peaceful, with everything you need and your own private little patio area for eating, reading and relaxing. We stayed for five nights, made use of the pool every day and enjoyed exploring nearby Lynton and Lynmouth, Dunster Castle (highly recommended), Minehead and a 5k coastal walk to Blue Anchor for fish and chips! The house and grounds are beautifully maintained by Stuart and Charlie and the location couldn't be better - within a few minutes by foot you are in the national park and there are lots of places to visit just a short drive away. Stuart and his family are fantastic hosts and made us feel really welcome. We'll be back for sure!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Katherine's cottage - perfect location for a mini break! The cottage was very clean and had all the amenities you need. We brought our dog with us and it was great to find a place in that location where she was welcome too. There is a door that shuts off the staircase so we didn't have to worry about her venturing up there as per Katherine's request. We enjoyed a local cider in the grounds where there were loungers provided and felt welcome throughout. The arrival cream tea was a very thoughtful touch which we really enjoyed after a long drive. Thanks so much again Katherine - Highly recommended!

  • Had a wonderful break. The hosts were terrific and helped us on eateries and things to do when the rain came in. Thoroughly recommend. Cottage was delightful

  • We had a brilliant stay at Little Quatme cottages. Katherine and Nick are great hosts, with a wealth of local knowledge and a door that's literally always open! The place is just gorgeous with views for miles and the kids had a fab time exploring and adventuring. The cream tea on arrival was a really lovely touch too!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay One could not wish for a more peaceful place. The layout of the cottage takes full advantage of the superb views over unspoilt country as far as the horizon. The interior is well furnished offering plenty of space, very comfortable bed, good heating and hot water. Lovely area with good walks. Helpful owner Katherine & Nick live next door if needed but is not intrusive. Thanks for a lovely stay ..Dave & Sue

  • We had a delightful stay at Katherine‘s. Just what we needed- a real rest in a beautiful area and lovely cottage. Katherine and Nick gave us many tips and a delicious cream tea.

  • Peace and quiet yet close to Minehead and Dunster. A fantastic location amongst the fields. Although there were other guests in adjacent cottages, we never heard a sound from them! A great place for a family or families travelling together.

    Christopher2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Little Quarms is an amazing place to stay. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and the location is something else. We were able to relax in perfect peace whilst having a BBQ overlooking a rolling landscape. Only downside was the shortness of our stay and only discovering the river as we were due to leave. Highly recommended.

A stunning, dog friendly conversion of our historic courtyard barn. Featuring vaulted ceilings and built from Exmoor stone, it has plenty of character, whilst still having all the amenities required for your time away. Tucked away in the centre of the village of Timberscombe, The Barn is an ideal location to explore Exmoor National Park.
The open plan sitting and dining room is the central point, with the king sized bedroom and kitchen either side. The kitchen has a delightful cottage feel while containing all the modern conveniences one would expect to make you feel at home.  The bathroom comes complete with a power shower. We are happy to welcome a maximum of two well behaved, medium sized dogs, but please do not allow dogs on the furniture or leave them unattended. The Barn is located in a courtyard, and although we have no grass garden, there are multiple footpaths and green areas just metres from the front door.
  • Make this the one you choose if you’re in the Exmoor area, you really won’t be disappointed. Matt & Jess’ cottage is a really lovely, homely cottage and they spoilt us with some extra special touches.

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy cottage with fantastic hosts! Wonderful location but alas the classic British weather was not at its best-thankfully there were plenty of pubs to keep us warm and dry! Highly recommend

    Tom2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is a really lovely place to stay! It’s clean and comfortable, cosy and well equipped with everything you could possibly need, had a lovely time and a couple of great nights sleep. Jess and Matt are brilliant hosts, can’t recommend their place enough!

    Sue2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit. We loved it so much we had to return. Although we were joined by Storm Dennis it didn’t ruin our stay. The accommodation is so cosy and homely we stayed in and enjoyed the warm blankets, sofa and cake! Perfect location and every detail has been thought of.

    Nicky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Air BnBs we’ve stayed in! The Barn is spacious yet cosy and stylishly decorated and has everything you could ask for and more. Games, films, walking maps, blankets, and even breakfast items and homemade cake! Matt & Jess are super friendly and very quick to respond to messages. We felt warmly welcomed yet left to our own devices, which was perfect. The local pub, the Lion Inn, is literally a few steps down the road and serves delicious food and drink with a warm welcome from the hosts. The Luttrell Arms in Dunster is just a couple of miles away and also offers a great selection of drinks and food. The Barn is close to places to visit like Dunster Castle, Tarr Steps and Minehead. We had such a lovely little break here in North Devon, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

    Caroline2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden little gem in a beautiful part of the country. Felt home from home, so very clean and all the little touches made you feel welcome. Matt and Jess are great hosts and it shows in the accommodation. They are available if needed, wonderful people. I would strongly recommend this place for a break. Thanks to you Matt and Jess

    Keith2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Matts place is fantastic. A very peaceful haven full of character and charm; perfect for a couple exploring exmoor. It’s not too far into exmoor to reach whilst driving and is easy access with all the major areas reachable within an hours drive. The bed is extremely comfortable and the shower is fantastic. There was plenty of space for us for our belongings and to relax. We stayed two nights with the dog and the dog loved it too as it was very quiet. You might get a chance to eat the sublime and out of the world walnut cake, which actually needs its own review page! 5 stars , thanks very much. We will be back.

    Niraj2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and well thought out barn conversion. Some lovely homely touches were provided. The Lion Inn literally across the road was very welcoming and Dunster is great for exploring. We had a fabulous meal at The Stags Head in Dunster. The area looks to have lots of walks - so we will need to visit again when the weather is better to explore the area even more. Matt and Jess were both friendly and helpful - thanks for a great mini break.

Coachmans Cottage is one of 10 self catering holiday cottages. It sleeps 2 people in a double bedroom and has a log burning stove. Facilities at Triscombe include an indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor tennis court and games room. Triscombe is centrally located on Exmoor and is only 10 miles away from seaside town Minehead and 1 mile away from our nearest village, Wheddon Cross. We are conveniently located to explore areas such as the North Devon coast. Electricity charged at cost 16p/unit.
Triscombe Farm is situated in Exmoor National Park within its own valley location. The 10 self catering cottages are in a hamlet-like environment and are mostly converted farm buildings. We are 1 mile away from Wheddon Cross and 10 miles away from Minehead. We are centrally located in Exmoor National Park, ideal for walkers and those looking to explore the area, whilst still being close to nearby towns and villages. Wheddon Cross is the highest village on Exmoor and is close to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor. On a clear day from Dunkery Beacon, you can see for miles around, to Wales and all of the surrounding countryside. There are plenty of places to visit in the area regardless of your interests - our guests often return to continue exploring the area as they didn't have enough time previously! Information about a large number of attractions and places to visit is provided in the information room and in our online guidebook.
Triscombe is a rural protected National Park location just off the main A396. The village is a mile away & Minehead, Dulverton, the nearest towns, are approximately 20 minutes drive away. There are several good pubs & restaurants in the area as well as tourist attractions but all requiring your own transport due to infrequent public transport. Exmoor National Park is an amazing place with plenty of everything! Moorland walks, stunning views across to Wales, coastal walks and towns, and plenty of towns and villages to explore.
  • Nice cottages in their own little rural valley.

    Daan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, snug and cosy with all facilities you would need. We went for a few days' walking and resting over New Year and the location puts you right in the middle of some lovely walks for any time of year. The pool and games room both looked great, although we didn't use them. Ruth and her family are very kind and welcoming and even invited us for drinks on New Year's Eve which was a lovely touch. Welcoming, well-equipped and wonderfully-located.

    Mark2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay at Triscombe Cottages, our cottage was comfortable and really as described in the ad. The kitchen is well furnished and we enjoyed cooking there. The welcoming was warm and friendly although we arriove late at night. Do not hesitate to contact Ruth about the location, I didn't check my emails and the sat-nav tends to send people on muddy tracks! Probably the best was the swimming pool, that is long enough for some proper swimming, really enjoyable. It was very quiet, and we were the only people using it, making it even nicer. The location is very good, as you can start a walk directly from the house and enjoy nice views on the surrounding rolling hills, or drive a bit and enjoy the seaside.

    Laurent2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish, we had a fabulous experience with Ruth and Becky. Communication was responsive and easy, with lots of extra information to make our journey and check-in (very out of hours!) stress free and simple. Any issues were easily resolved. The accommodation was lovely, simple, comfortable and very clean. The electric heaters were very effective...but the log burner was toasty! The surrounding area was beautiful and we both felt that we had a most marvellous time - we had a wonderful, restful and comfortable stay. Stream cottage was lovely and we would definitely recommend a stay. The whole of Triscombe Farm has an 'away from it all' kind of feel about it but is only around 20 minutes drive from many places of interest, including the coast, delightful walks, villages and National Trust sites. There are also things to do without using the car - walks from and around the farm, tennis, table tennis, pool, and a swimming pool to use. Over all a great base or somewhere to completely relax. Thanks for a splendid few days - I'm sure we shall be back!

  • This is the second time we've come to stay at the shepherds hut, and we once again had a truly wonderful break. The hut itself is homely and comfortable, with all the provisions you need, and Joy is an attentive, generous and helpful host. The valley itself is beautiful, and the really special thing about this place is the genuine sense of solitude and peacefulness you get from being here. You will have it all to yourself, we didn't see anyone in three days! The dog also loved it. We'll certainly be back again.

  • We had such a great time at the hut - collecting wood, making fires, enjoying the beautiful countryside. It is a wonderfully secluded spot, so peaceful. • Joy's Sheperd's Hut in Exmoor is the ideal spot to getaway from busy, modern life and relax. From the moment you arrive you are well looked after (with a ride down to the remote campsite then getting collected at the end of your stay). The open fire, babbling brook and lovely hut make for rustic but (very) comfortable living (and the hot shower brings welcome luxury)! Joy has stocked the place excellently including a small fridge, lots of cooking utensils and a gas hob if required. Joy has a good stock of maps and guidebooks if you're keen to do some walking on the moors (and is happy to recommend pubs for a pit stop). Communication with Joy beforehand was friendly and helpful and she made sure our stay was excellent.

  • What a fantastic little place to get away from it all. Very secluded and a wonderful place to escape for a few days. The sound of the stream was lovely and sitting by the fire outside cooking dinner with a cider was divine! Looking forward to returning in a few months! Becky and siobhan

  • We spent two nights and would have loved to stay longer. The location is perfect to get away from other tourists and to explore Exmoor National Park. Carole took great care of us with a breakfast basket each morning and helpful tips on what to do in the park. Thank you, Carole!

    Jan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful bolthole on the edge of Exmoor! A bijou delight, Carole has created a space that is welcoming and very tastefully decorated. A particularly lovely touch is breakfast delivered to your doorstop every day in a basket - croissants, yoghurt and orange juice to ease you into another day exploring the gorgeous surroundings. We took our dog Molly, who was delighted to find a comfy dog bed waiting for her along with several treats. We would highly recommend Carole's gorgeous B&B and will definitely be returning in the future.

    Simon2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carole is a lovely host and her b&b is immaculately clean and cosy. A lovely breakfast was provided every morning on our doorstep with fresh milk and warm croissants. Walks across the moors from our doorstep for our dog Tia were spectacular, especially down to Tarr steps. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • An absolute gem of a find in the middle of exmoor. Katherine and Nick are amazing hosts an I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. A car is needed to get to most places of interest but but we loved every minute. We will definitely return next year

  • We have just returned from a wonderful Easter weekend staying in Exmoor Cottage situated in the most beautiful location. Katherine and Nick were fantastic hosts with a very warm welcome and cream tea on arrival. They have a wealth of knowledge about the area and gave us hints on where to eat out and the best routes for the many walks to be enjoyed around the area. We took Sky our dog who was equally well catered for and who also loved every moment. We shall definitely return. Thanks Katherine and Nick 😊

You will love our luxurious newly converted barn with its woodburning stove and sauna. It is adjacent to our farmhouse so help is on hand with advice on the local area; we run guided walks and can provide breakfast and farmhouse suppers on request. Although we are in a secluded valley, it is just a short walk along the riverbank to the village stores, two recommended pubs and a tearoom, so no worries about whose turn it is to drive! We also provide mountain bikes and a map to explore the area.
Spindrift barn was converted in 2017 from stabling with a threshing floor above. We have retained the traditional character with the original oak beams and the stairs were created using timber from an old wharf and jetty, hence the nautical references in the name and decor. The barn is completely self contained and is a lovely, welcoming space to come back to after a busy day exploring this wonderful area. Large french windows on two floors give easy access to your own herb garden in the summer. There is a drying area on the mezannine for wet coats and walking boots and the large woodburner lights in seconds. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor keeps you toasty in the winter.
The barn is perfectly situated, quiet and peaceful with no passing traffic, just the sound of the river and our resident tawny owls to lull you to sleep at night. However, you are only a short stroll from the two pubs, village shops and tea room situated in Exford village, and totally spoilt for choice for walks from the front door.
  • Jennie, Malcolm, Thanks you so much. We really enjoyed our time in Exford. A stunning place to visit despite the inclement weather... We hope to be back before too long. Until next time. Phil And Tasha.

  • The Ballroom at Cutthorne is a beautiful and well equipped cottage in a lovely spot. Chris and Freya are very friendly hosts who provided us with fresh eggs (our 3-year old could even help collect them) and with helpful tips for exploring the region. We enjoyed the lovely landscape and the sweet smell of the air, the sparrows outside the window and the comfortable interior. I'd recommend Chris and Freya's Cottage to any of my friends.

  • We had a lovely 4 day stay with my husband and kids ( both teenagers 😜) The place is very clean, and it’s ideal for family to bond on a quiet evening away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The facilities are great and it takes them away from their gadgets which I love. We brought some games for us to do in the evening and enjoyed being in a setting with no gadgets on our face. WiFi is not bad as we still can access things. Loved the pool and games room and the lovely surrounding area to explore. We enjoyed going to minehead, there is a pub not too far from the cottage which serves lovely food. Take a visit to Tarr steps well worth it and st audries beach which has a hidden waterfall on it but beware of the steep steps. The drive to the countryside is a must. We drove to ilfracombe, woolacombe, comb Martin and Lynmouth was very nice too if you like driving. Overall well worth the stay and visit. Thanks again Ruth and family.

This is an extract from the Exmoor National Park website which sums up Exmoor perfectly!! "A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce. On Exmoor it is still possible to find tranquillity and peace as well as rediscover your sense of adventure; to catch a glimpse of wild red deer, be amazed by dark skies full of stars, and explore villages full of character" For dog owners there is an abundance of walks allowing you to walk for miles over the moor with some starting from the car park across the road or within a short drive away.

  • We absolutely adored our Quarme cottage stay. It was perfect for a family of 5 and was the best spot for our exploration of Exmoor National Park. We loved our time in Dunster and Porlock - the history of the towns and beauty of the landscape was fantastic. The cottage was ideal in both charm and accommodation. The cream tea was really delicious and we enjoyed eating the as we watched the pheasants and sheep outside our window. Thank you!

  • This is the second time in 2 years I've stayed at Chris and Freya's and it didn't disappoint! Myself and some friends had stayed the year before and we didn't hesitate to book the barn again as it's so comfortable to relax in after long days of walking all over Exmoor. It's thoroughly clean, cosy and set in such a beautiful location . Chris and Freya are the perfect hosts: helpful friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Would recommend to anyone

  • A great place to get away and go for beautiful walks. Chris and Freya are wonderful hosts. Chris provided us with some very helpful recommendations on local walks and places to eat and when we arrived there were some lovely wild flowers on the table to greet us. The beds were very comfortable and the place was clean and cosy and had everything we needed for the weekend. We had a lovely stay and would return/recommend.

  • This is a unique location with stunning views. We were warmly welcomed despite being delayed by extreme traffic conditions. The cottage was super clean and the cottage use instructions were friendly and informative. We would stay again, it was so peaceful.

  • This is a lovely place to stay - couldn't be better. Katherine is an easy-going, very welcome and also efficient host, at hand to help with any queries. The cottage is very comfortable, all that you could want.

    Mary2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutley perfect. The photos do not do it justice and do not do the grounds justice. The cottage was perfect size for our family of four (and our dog). Secure, very clean, all the little touches you could need. The kids loved the games room with table tennis and pool and also exploring on the walks through the fields. At the cottage you are 5 mins walk from a local shop and the local pub and only short drives from Porlock, Minehead, Exford, Lynton and Lymouth. We explored all of the above in our 3 days and still had plenty of time to relax. With the hosting from Nick and Katherine, the location and the cottage, we couldn't have asked for more and will be booking directly for next year.

    Phil2018-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We only had a brief stay at Rose Cottage but appreciated the fact that it was super clean. It was perfectly located for our purposes, and Katherine was a very warm and friendly host. The cottage was lovely and toasty during our autumn stay, and had everything we could have needed. The indoor fireplace is electric (which we hadn't realised from the photos).

    Hannah2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine’s place is in a delightful setting in the countryside. The place itself has everything you could need in an Airbnb, and use of the abundant grounds as well. Katherine went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and instantly comfortable in the cottage. Couldn’t recommend her place more highly!

    Annabel2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rose cottage at Little Quarm is a great place to stay. Excellent location for walks right from your doorstep or a short drive to other notable locations around Exmoor. The hosts, Katherine & Nick, are superb and very helpful. We stayed during ‘mini’ best from the east which landed good dump of snow in the Wheddon Cross area. Nick and Katherine worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable.
