A uniquely appointed wood cabin sited under mature oak trees in our lovely garden. The Shack has one lovely room with kitchen area inc microwave, fridge and toaster, no cooker but a single electric ring. Items for breakfast will be left for your first night and you are welcome to request more. These include homemade bread and jam, milk, tea and coffee and cereal. Well insulated so warm in winter and cool in summer. 3 miles to the coast. A short drive to Exmoor or the Quantock hills. Meet our chickens and dogs, chill on the veranda listening to birds and the river, or stroll to the very local pub.
The Shack comprises a good size room with double bed. There's a kitchenette and your own bathroom with toilet, sink and our special galvanised metal shower! As we are keen to re-use and upcycle as much as possible you will find many examples of this in the shack. There's the pallet wood wall and floor which was taken up from an old pub skittle alley. Lights and other features hand made by ourselves in reclaimed wood.
The Shack is situated in the hamlet of Torre (pronounced tor) just a few yards from the river Washford. The White Horse pub is just a few metres away, has a beer garden next to the river and otters can occasionally be seen. We are pretty quiet yet not isolated and only 10 minutes from the coast at Blue Anchor. Washford has a lovely quirky small zoo which has great indoor and outdoor play areas and is enjoyed by adults and children alike. The Steam railway (which is the longest in the country) stops in the village and the train is often heard from our property. The neighbourhood is very friendly and welcoming. Our property is set in a small valley and there are many trees around. The sound of birds ( Inc owls) around the shack is lovely and we regularly get nuthatches, tree creepers, long tailed tits and goldfinches to our feeders. Sit on your terrace and listen to the river and relax...
  • Our stay with Jill & John was wonderful. The shack is very cozy and pretty. Everything was clean and quiet and John was very welcoming. We were sad we only booked one night :)

  • I had a lovely stay at the Rock Shack, check in was easy and I was greeted by John and their puppy Lottie ☺️ A lovely warm fresh loaf of bread was dropped over to me by John and Alexis later on too. I loved the cosy little cabin and all the little thoughtful touches. I felt very comfortable staying here on my own. Thank you!

  • Beautiful spacious barn. I visited alone but would also be suitable for a group of friends as there are many beds. Very nice farmland surroundings out in the countryside away from everyday stress, couldn't reccomend it enough for a short trip away!

  • A real rural retreat, large barn suitable for anything really. Excellent all round.

    Dan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Was a lovely space, large dining table in a high topped ceilinged room. Lots of sleeping space, nice and quite surroundings. Highly recommend Just be careful on the track down to the barns, if your car is slightly lower like mine you may knock the underside of the car.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at the barn. I was looking for somewhere to stay and do some work free from distractions and this was perfect. Ali had started a fire before I got there so the barn felt very cosy from the moment I arrived. Kitchen has everything you need to make a proper meal, and the hot shower was great. I was a little worried about coming down the 'steep and bumpy' driveway but in the end it was no problem for me in my little hatchback! Thank you Ali for a lovely stay.

    Cecilia2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and amazing little barn. This was a great place, off grid, perfect for writing. I really enjoyed animals around and the log burner. I highly recommend the place.

  • Excellent on all levels

  • Located in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, you could hear a pin drop. Beautiful cottage, sparkling clean with those personal little touches that makes a difference. Setting on a small holding with sheep, goats, horses, poultry, ducks on a pond and not forgetting a nice walk through the woods to a bubbling river. We took a trip to the coast through the countryside and overall really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

    Jackie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is such a special place in a beautiful countryside location with wonderful hosts. We loved our few days in peaceful surroundings and walked across the fields each morning, accompanied by Tex the dog. To see an abundance of birds, as well as the sheep, horses and ducks out of the Byre windows was a treat. We had our dog with us and the garden is ideal, with super field walks all around. The Byre was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully equipped and snug. The beds are comfy and we had great sleeps. Our hosts Wendy and Ged were friendly and welcoming. The communication from Wendy when we booked was warm, helpful and quick replies. There is a folder full of ideas of places to visit and we followed several recommendations like Dulverton and other Exmoor highlights, Valley of the Rocks on the coast. We also ate well in welcoming local pubs recommended by Wendy. We hope to return soon.

    Caroline2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really good last minute short brake here. The girls loved playing with tex the dog and the wrong cat that seemed to like following us across the fields. The house was lovely clean and warm the pictures do not do it justice. Thanks you very much wendy for letting us stay.

    Lewis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and Wendy was a brilliant host. The house was all very clean, cosy and warm. Set in a truly beautiful location with stunning views over the rolling hills of the countryside. Fantastic walks right on your doorstep which we made the most of with our dog. Such a great find! Thank you Wendy

    Janet2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, nice views and cute animals!

    Marcel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely four night stay here whilst visiting family in the area. Wendy is a fabulous host who responded to all communication promptly. The cottage is spotless and had everything we needed and we loved all the friendly animals around especially Tex the dog and The Wrong Cat. The space is great for families with children as our 2 year old loved having the space to run around and explore and meeting the animals. There are also a number of recommended places to go out to eat that Wendy has thoughtfully referenced in the house manual.

Set in a historic house over 500 years old, this conversion from the old stables exudes character and rural charm. Right on the Coleridge Way, it's perfect for walkers and anyone who wants a comfortable base from which to tour Exmoor and North Devon.
You will be living in an old stables - but without the horses, sadly! It has been converted by a well-known architect famous for her work on historic buildings.
  • Absolutely gorgeous stay. Loved the property; very comfortable and clean, and it was an absolute tonic to be in the rural quiet, looking out to sea. Perfect!

    Victoria2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views across fields and woods to the sea beyond, a remote and peaceful spot. The cottage was clean, cosy and warm.

    Sue2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a fabulous stay, the cottage was perfect, the location, scenery and walking were outstanding.

    Lynne2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • An outstandingly beautiful location. Very remote, so be prepared, and pack for all eventualities. Jeremy is a very helpful host, so do ask for advice before heading out. The cottage is really cosy and atmospheric, and ideal for those who enjoy outdoor adventures. Highly recommended.

    Sarah2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot for a break away, far from the town. The view here is amazing. You are far from all amenities so make sure you've stocked up before you arrive.

    Joy2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nestling on the coastal edge, this old parsonage combines a warm welcome, a beautiful view and marvellously comfortably surroundings to enjoy the area. Fresh bread and local conserves await you and view over the Bristol Channel framed with lovely rolling pastures provides a relaxing backdrop. Perfect as a base for exploring the north Devon and Somerset coasts, or to just curl up and recharge.

    Jon2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stables are really lovely, comfortable and homely. The location is a little way out of town but is so quiet and peaceful. I particularly enjoyed how dark the bedroom is at night due to the fact there is no light pollution- making for an excellent night’s sleep. Smartly decorated accommodation. Very friendly hosts- highly recommend!

    Stephanie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend Parsonage Otter Stables highly enough. A cosy and relaxing bolt hole for an Autumnal break- can’t wait to go back and try all the other seasons! Thank you so much Jeremy and Paivi for being the perfect hosts.

  • What an amazing little spot!! Complete peace and quiet, just the sheep baaa’ing and the owls twit twooing at night!! Weather changes quite quickly, foggy-clear-raining so just the luck of what you get! Plenty to go exploring- lovely walks and scenery! Nice local pub not to far with great homecooked food. Karen was great and kept our drinking water topped up and the facilities clean :) Compost loo and outdoor shower quite the experience! Log burner definatly kept the hut warm, most of the time to warm to which we needed the cool breeze from outside to come through. If you want get back to basics this is the one!!

  • Absolutely outstanding host and the stay couldn’t have been better! The perfect place for a cosy fire, shelter from the weather and a escaping the ‘real world’. I have already recommended it to so many people. Thank you both again for making our stay so perfect!

  • Fantastic hide away for forgetting the hustle and bustle of modern life. Picturesque Sheppard's hut with stunning views of the country side. Warm shower, eco-friendly loo and a log fire that makes the hut toasty warm.

    Maria2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, stunning views, lovely and cosy. Karen was very welcoming and flexible either the booking.

    Martin2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

    Tom2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal spot for a work retreat. Exactly what I needed!

    Ciaran2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful shepherds hut, placed in a gorgeous valley! We had the best nights sleep with the wood burner keeping us so toasty warm, whilst being in the peaceful countryside. Definitely recommend Karen’s cabin for a quiet country getaway! Small tip is to remember to bring breakfast with you, as it was a drive to the closest shops and a bit difficult to cook anything in the cabin in winter-we definitely want to return in summer to use the BBQ and eat out under a starry sky! Thank you for being such a lovely host Karen!

    Lucy2019-10-05T00:00:00Z

Buchan Cottage is named after John Buchan, author of "The Thirty Nine Steps", and there are 39 steps from the road level up to the private sunbathing terrace in the garden. The cottage is a 5 minute walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Dulverton, and a short drive or a longer hike to the woods and moors of Exmoor National Park. We are very well equipped and comfortable, with a wood burning stove for winter evenings. We welcome dogs, so bring yours and come for a wonderful stay!
Wonderfully positioned on the edge of Dulverton, we are well placed to explore the whole of Exmoor, and yet it is a short stroll home from the pub or restaurant at night - no need for designated drivers here!
Dulverton is a uniquely friendly small town. It has 2 deli's, a wonderful second hand bookshop, gift shops, boutiques and a gents outfitters and many more small independent shops........England as it used to be! The famous "Woods" bar and restaurant is a must - multiple winner of "National Wine Pub of the Year", our guests always recommend a meal here, and another at "The Bridge", a quintessential traditional English pub, serving the delicious "Exmoor Ale". Tongdam Thai Restaurant has a lovely garden terrace, strung with fairy lights for summer, and a cosy woodburner for winter nights, you can even take your dog with you!
  • This really is a superb well equipped and clean little cottage overlooking the river. We had a lovely long weekend with our dog walking on the moor and along river valleys. We especially enjoyed being able to stroll into the pubs in the evening to have fabulous meals. (Particularly at Woods). This was our second stay in Buchan Cottage and we will certainly be back.

    Julian2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage location was perfect - Dulverton is a great little town in a very scenic location, the cottage itself was very picturesque with nice little touches that made us feel welcome. We stayed in winter and it was nippy but we chose it for the log burner and as soon as that’s going it’s very cosy. Views from the house and sun terrace are fantastic - it would be lovely to have a drink out there in summer!

    Kimberley2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, comfortable and no-frills base to explore Exmoor, with the added bonus of a running water soundtrack from the weir outside. A 5 minute walk into Dulverton and all its delights.

    Tim2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Buchan Cottage is in a great location and a perfect getaway for a break in Exmoor. Dulverton is a lovely village with a COOP a short walk away which was great for stocking up on supplies. The cottage had everything we needed and was lovely and cosy and perfect for our New Year break. Lovely comfy beds and lovely to listen to the sound of the weir as you fall asleep at night.

    Mandy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location here is amazing, looking out over the river, really quiet but also with life around. Well equipped.

    Marcus2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • A spacious, clean and well equipped cottage. Location was perfect, within a small town, with everything needed within a short walk. A great place to base yourselves for walking and exploring Exmoor.

    Paul2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie and Malcolm's place is ideal for anyone looking for a nice cosy base for exploring Exmoor. We loved Dulverton - nice pubs and other amenities - and had a great walk from the front door to Tarr Steps and to the Tarr Farm Inn next to them for a lovely lunch. The house is ideal for a couple or a small family. Jennie and Malcolm great hosts too.

    Shaun2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was the most wonderful stay at Jennie and Malcolm's place. The cottage was very comfortable and clean with everything we needed as a family. Jennie was very kind and patient with us when we found it difficult to find the place...as we didn't really read the instructions properly. The cottage is five minutes walk from the canter of Dulverton with lovely shops and friendly people. Woods restaurant was amazing, and we spent another night at the Bridge Inn pub that was so friendly....quiz night recommended. We stayed for 3 days and had only to step out from the cottage and in to the Exmoor park. In all - obsoletely smashing stay!

  • The house is in a very quiet location with lovely views of the fields. The village is about 10 minutes away on foot. We felt very welcome and really appreciated all of the effort that Maureen had gone to with the Christmas decorations- the house felt really festive and cosy.

  • Fabulous house, so much better than I hoped for! The pictures do not do this home justice. It was extremely spacious, everything we needed for cooking was available - we had a roast & a bbq! Gardens for the kids to play in and a great location. Perfect home away from home for a family break. I couldn’t recommend this property enough, Maureen & Alison were great hosts & Minehead in Somerset is beautiful, especially Dunster Castle!

    Chloe2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen’s place is absolutely stunning. It was the perfect hideaway for a catch up between some friends for our 30th year. The house had so much space to house all of us and there were so many bathrooms and other spaces to make us never feel on each other’s toes. The kitchen was a great place to cook and listen to music and the table for us all around. The annex type part on the ground floor was also very practical for our friend who bought her baby. All round an absolutely fantastic place to stay.

  • The house is delightful - spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Super comfortable beds. The location is perfect: set in beautiful countryside, quiet and peaceful. Our group of six had a wonderful few days walking The Coleridge Way, which was easily accessed from the house. Many thanks to Maureen and Alison for their hospitality.

  • We had an amazing stay at Maureen’s, this Easter bank holiday weekend! Their amazing property is so carefully and beautifully laid out and decorated inside and outside! Also, the location and the size of the property is perfect for big groups wanting to enjoy the nature. Alison was super helpful and very quick to respond to our messages. I would highly recommend their place to anyone who is after a great accommodation at a great location with a friendly and generous host! Thank you Maureen and Alison, hope you had a fab weekend too!

  • We've just returned home from a fantastic two night stay at Maureen's wonderful home over New year. We were a group of four couples and one young baby. We found the property to be very spacious, clean and comfortable. Maureen and her daughter Alison were very helpful with any requests we had during our stay and provided us with great directions prior to arrival which was very helpful. The cottage itself is quite remote with lots of walks right on the doorstep which was just what we were looking for. I am sure we'll be back as our only complaint was that we didn't have longer to explore!

    Nicola2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in this lovely house in Wootton Courtenay. It's right on the National Trust part of Exmoor, so feels very secluded and remote in a good way. The kitchen with its big Aga stove was good fun to cook in, and the lounge and big fire place are very cosy. As it was Christmas the owners had decorated the whole house to make it feel really festive, which our children appreciated greatly. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely open-plan upstairs flat in the centre of Minehead. The property is grade-II listed building. Full of character, it is the oldest building in Minehead. Shops and cafes right on your doorstep. Beach is a 5 minute walk away. Blenheim Gardens, a beautiful local park is a 2 minute walk away.
  • Carole was lovely and was more than helpful during our entire stay. The location is incredible with it being close to a nice public garden, pubs and shops (without it being noisy - visited in March). Accommodation was very pleasant, quirky/unique and had a cosy feel to it. Definitely thinking of buying an electric blanket after our visit!

    John2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great little flat, right in the middle of Minehead with restaurants, supermarkets and the beach at your doorstep. Carole was a great Hostess , very friendly and helpful. Loads to do and see in the area. Thoroughly recommend.

  • Amazing comfortable space in an ancient building in the center of Minehead. Great kitchen, nice hot shower. Carol was very eager to help and showed us where the easy parking was nearby.

    Kennon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I wouldn’t hesitate to say here again. Carol is an amazing host and nothing too much trouble, there was a lot of added extras which we thought was a lovely touch. It’s the prefect central location, close to everything. Would definitely recommend to others.

    Jake2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Carole’s place. She was wonderful to deal with both before and on the day. Check in was simple and comprehensive and Carole had all the amenities and staples we could have possibly needed. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Moya2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant central town location but very quiet. Very near to the extensive Minehead beach. Apartment is full of character with old beams. Plenty warm enough and plenty of hot water for showers. Carole left us an extensive range of food and drinks for breakfast also a good selection of toiletries. Good wi fi . Parking on adjacent road and unloading easy at front door. Carole responded quickly to our queries and didn’t mind us changing the time we gave the key back. We would highly recommend this place.

  • Our family of 4 stayed at the Coach House for 4 nights in December. The place is lovely and cosy, set in a hydillic natural setting yet only 5mins by car to Minehead's beach, shops and supermarkets. The place was sparkling clean, the beds were very comfortable, the place was always very warm with the heating on, shower very efficient at perfect temperature, the kitchen was super equipped with everything. As a bonus we even spotted a deer and rabbits in the property grounds! The hosts communication was always very prompt! We simply had the perfect stay, highly recommended!!

    Laura2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, very clean cottage and a great host! Perfect for a family of five.

    Lena2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice place to stay that we would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in the area: It is very quiet and surrounded by nature. Moreover, the location is absolutely stunning (including the view towards the nearby national park). It is perfect for hiking as it is easy to enter the nearby entry-sites of the big hiking trails or even to enter smaller ones running through the wood just behind the house. The pool (as everything) was very neat and tidy and it perfect to relax after a long day of exploring the surrounding area :) In addition to that, hosts are very friendly and hospitable and could give us very good tips. Definitely recommendable and a great place to stay!

19 Holloway Street is a lovely family home, the room we let is on the ground floor, and has good wardrobe space, tea and coffee making facilities and free view TV. We benefit from high speed broadband of which is unlimited to yourselves. We are literally just around the corner from the high street thus accessing shops, restaurants and pubs are quite easy!! During the summer we welcome you to use our patio to relax for a tea/coffee.. or something stronger!
The room we let is on the ground floor and is quiet, it’s a large room with a King Size bed. The room itself will sleep two people, the pricing should work.. that there is a base price shown for one person and then a small supplement when two people occupy the room. As is mentioned further through the description we do offer accommodation only (no breakfast) but guest are welcomed to use the kitchen facilities in moderation
I’ve mentioned it in the ‘overall’ description but we are just off the Main Street of Minehead.. in fact about 60-70 meters from Minehead’s Costa Coffee. We have a good pub virtually opposite side of the road (The Queens Head) that does great food, just around the corner is one of Minehead’s best restaurants (Fausto’s), if neither of these appeal there’s always Weatherspoons just around the corner (also a fairly good stop for breakfast). In the bedroom we also have guides on ‘places to eat’ around the area - there’s lots!
  • Exactly what it says on the tin! Great if you just need somewhere to sleep and rest. Jeramy was a great host and did his best to fulfill my needs.

    Henry2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend this accommodation. A light airy double room with excellent tea/coffee making facilities and more than enough wardrobe space for two people on an extended stay. The accommodation is located just off the main high street next to shops, bars and restaurants and only a 10 min walk to the beach. The host was very warm and welcoming and is the best Air BnB I’ve stayed in.

  • Jeremy was very welcoming and helpful in regards to the local area, I would definitely recommend and would stay again! Very close to an event I was attending and the room was excellent!

  • Great stay with Jeremy and family. Fab location just of the town's main street but with out noise or disturbances. Parking on street outside or just 100yrds up the hill no issues finding parking. Nice size double bedroom with drinks making facility and tv (freeview) in the room. Many thanks Jeremy

    Richard2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and had plenty of space and light. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot, which was perfect after a hard days mountain biking. It is situated right in town so easy to grab a bit to eat or have a drink. We can’t recommend Jeremy enough and the icing on the cake was their jack russel Williow who was adorable.

    Marlon2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy was a great host quick response to any messages. A nice bedroom with lots of storage for your clothes. The bed was exceptionally comfy. The house about a 1 minute walk on to the main high street. So it’s just far away enough so you don’t get disturbed by noise at night from the town. I had an enjoyable time in Minehead I thought it was a really nice town.

You are also near Haddon Hill and Wimbleball lake which are great to visit. Ali was excellent with great communication and happy to help me with any questions. • What a wonderful place to stay, as you drive down a small bumpy farm lane you come into a place where time stands still. No wifi, no mobile phone reach. You hear the birds singing and the farm animals, but most of all quiet. Very good value and plenty of comfort, with woodburner, fresh flowers, a fully equiped kitchen, completely selfsufficient and the whole barn for yourself. Would definitely come back!

  • This is a great spot for exploring the surrounding area or for finding quiet solitude. Ali made me feel welcome, checked in on me, and also gave space. She's an awesome host and a caring person. There are excellent walks right out of the door and the countryside is just beautiful. It's definitely best to have a car for exploring, but Ali was awesome about helping me get to and from Wiveliscombe for supplies during my time at the cart shed. The kitchen was well set up for cooking, the living space was warm from the radiators even without the log burner, and the shower was piping hot.

For those looking for quieter entertainment beyond the walking, fishing, horse riding facilities in the area there are a number of Grand Houses and Gardens to visit including Dunster Castle, Kiightshayes, Rosemoor and Hestercombe all within easy reach.
  • Rose Cottage. Great cosy little cottage for two. The facilities were excellent. Games room and pitch n putt, books to read, swings. Quiet surroundings, cockerel crowing in the morning, rabbits on the lawn. Immaculate grounds. Lovely place

  • After an arduous journey we were met by Nicola who made us very welcome to our cottage. The property and surroundings were perfect and the effort made to suggest walks for people of all abilities were fantastic. We took advantage of this and took in some amazing views of Exmoor and Minehead!! The property itself was lovely! Clean, well equipped, cosy and perfect for my son & I for 1 weeks stay. We were completey unaware just how good the games room was and took advantage of having a game of ping pong to unwind. Would recommend this place to anyone! Such beautiful surroundings and well located to see so much of Exmoor! Hope to return one day and take on some more of the challenging walks.

The Snug is a cosy cottage ideal for a couple or friends looking for some time away. With a log burner and a bedroom with exposed beams offering views over Dunkery Beacon, you might never want to leave the house! Freshly renovated and located in the centre of the village of Timberscombe, The Snug is an ideal location for short to medium length breaks or those who are planning on spending the majority of their time in the great outdoors.
Downstairs we have a cosy lounge with a log burner and a small kitchenette (mini fridge, kettle, tea and coffee), allowing you to make a warm drink after a day exploring Exmoor. Upstairs is the king sized bedroom and the bathroom. Please note that this is an old cottage, so the stairs are fairly steep. We are happy to welcome one well behaved medium sized dog (e.g. a labrador), but please do not allow dogs on the furniture or upstairs, or leave them unattended. Please also note that there is no garden with The Snug. However there are many walks and places to toilet your dog a few metres from the front door. For those looking to stay connected whilst away, we have fibre broadband with a dedicated guest mesh WiFi network, meaning you will have fast and reliable internet. Phone signal is generally good in the village. Vodafone, EE, and O2 customers should get 4G reception. ‘Three’ customers may struggle indoors, but WiFi calling is possible on our WiFi.
Timberscombe is a traditional farming village in the Exmoor National Park and is in prime position for exploring the surrounding area. In the village itself we have a fantastic pub, The Lion Inn, which is highly recommended for a meal and a drink. Conveniently it's just a few doors down, so within easy stumbling distance! There's also a local shop and Post Office should you need to top up on essential supplies. We're a three mile (six minute) drive to the historic medieval village of Dunster. Alternatively you can walk there via Nutcombe Bottom forest, which contains the tallest tree in England! We are also ideally placed to enjoy Snowdrop Valley, which is a spectacle not to be missed if you're visiting in the winter. Minehead is six miles (10 minutes) down the road, and contains all of the amenities you could require for a week away. There are three supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, and Lidl) all within a stones throw of each other. Exmoor is a walking and cycling (road or mountain) heaven. We’ve created a list of our favourite routes, which you can find in your Guest Handbook when you arrive. These are a combination of spectacular routes leaving from the front door, and those further afield which you’ll need to travel to. Horse riding and fishing are two of the other major hobbies, with plenty of locations to give these a go. Golfers can find Somerset’s oldest golf course down at Minehead, which is a links course based on the coast. For the more adventurous, Wimbleball Lake and Porlock Weir are both a 20 minute drive away, and allow for swimming, kayaking, and other water sports. For those looking for beaches, Minehead is big and sandy and great for a family day out. Porlock and Bossington are quieter, but are pebbly. A bit further afield are the magnificent Woolacombe and Croyde beaches which are famous for surfing.
  • The Snug was perfect for a weekend escape - cosy and comfy for exploring Somerset and Exmoor. Loved my time there and will definitely be back

  • Fantastic place to stay, great location within yards from the village pub. Would definitely recommend this place and the hosts Matt and Jess. Thank you x

    Sue2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Snug to be a lovely place to stay, exactly as described and Matt and Jess were very attentive hosts going the extra mile with special touches. We were thrilled to be greeted by a specially baked vegan cake! Sparkly clean and with a great cosy feel, the woodburner was also a welcome touch for the January weather. Easily found within the heart of the village, there is a great pub a moments walk away. Keen walkers can leave the car parked up and hike up to Dunkery Beacon and back with Matt thoughtfully supplying laminated guides/maps of the local trails. Matt also provided us with plenty of information before we arrived too. We would certainly happily go back.

Bay View apartment has uninterrupted sea views. With a new kitchen, and flooring. We love the fact that you can sit and have a meal looking out to sea in all weathers,it is always changing Watching the RNLI life boats practice on a Sunday morning is interesting. The apartment is just a few yards away from a large park with play area for children, and an ideal place to walk and take dogs. There is a very good pub just down the road and it is very easy to walk into the town itself.
The space in the flat is only available to the people who have booked it.
Close to a park and good walking. The Old Ship aground pub has a very good reputation and all easily in walking distance. Mine head town centre is in easy walking distance, so no need to take the car out all the time.
  • Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! Stunning views, perfect location, beautiful spotless apartment. A real home from home. We’ll definitely be back!

  • The location is super overlooking the sea. It is a short walk to the town centre and even shorter to the nearest pub which provides good food. The apartment is very clean, has good quality contents and feels quite spacious for the two of us. It was good to have parking on site and getting parked was not a problem. A good apartment for exploring Exmoor.

  • Easy booking from start to finish. Having not used Airbnb before, I had some reservations. However these were soon erased when we arrived! The flat was very homely and nice and clean. The view of the beach is amazing and I particularly liked the binoculars so I could take a closer look at the boats! Great facilities, nice and clean, would definitely recommend. Didn't want to leave! I can't wait to visit again.

Or simply relax amongst magnificent views and wildlife and enjoy the absolute peace and quiet! A wide variety of moorland birds and mammals such as hares and rabbits, stoats and weasels, to say nothing of red deer, are regular visitors. The Two Moors Way passes the gate and, for the energetic, numerous other walks are accessible directly from the cottage. A host of other country pursuits within easy reach include watersports, fishing, pony trekking, shooting, bird watching and mountain biking. The owners are very keen on the environment and help to manage the SSSI area of marsh and woodlands in their grounds with the help of Exmoor National Park. The marsh land next to the river, which has not been cultivated for hundreds of years, makes an ideal spot for many rare plants and wildlife, especially the Heath Fritillary, one of the rarest butterflies in this country. The SSSI extends off into the woodlands and the owners are sympathetically managing this to promote its flora and fauna, with rare lichens on some of the older trees and fallen trunks providing great homes for all sorts of creatures. Smiddy Cottage is an ideal base to explore the North Devon coast and its picturesque villages including Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth. Dulverton, considered to be the southern gateway to Exmoor, is 10 minutes’ drive away. • Perfect location for walking and exploring area. Easy to get to the moors and coast. We didn't need to use the car as there was enough to do within walking distance which was great. The cottage is comfortable an cosy with everything we needed. Peter and Irene are friendly, laid back and helpful. We felt looked after and relaxed. Although there are other families on the farm you still have enough privacy. We would like to return again one day.

  • Lovely warm and cosy cottage.

    Hristo2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. Awesome communications. The hosts had put fresh flowers, lit the log burner and provided a homemade Devon Cream tea on the table before we arrived. The cottage is great, loads of outside space, beautiful views and our kids played football with some of the other children staying in the other cottages. The cottage is lovely, more rustic than super sophisticated but that is exactly what you want on Exmoor. Would definitely recommend.

Grooms Cottage is a 20/25 minute walk from Exford, via a bridleway and quiet country lane. The village is to many the heart of Exmoor. There are two good pubs, a post office and village store and a tea room.
  • A great place in a great national park! We'll go back there as soon as possible!

  • Lovely clean house, everything we needed for our long weekend. Good location for lots of walks and even ventured to Woolacombe for a walk on the beach (50 minutes in car) which is well worth the drive. Would definitely stay again! The cake on arrival was very much appreciated after our long journey!

  • Lovely place to stay and explore Exmoor, Grooms cottage well set up for a family with useful extras such as high chairs and cots that are available to use which was good for us travelling with a toddler. Would highly recommend Tracey and Simon as hosts 👍🏼 we all had a great week away X

    Lydia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you love walking wildlife and beautiful scenery then this place is made for you. Grooms cottage is a snug holiday home set on the side of the valley with its own outdoor seating area for picnics or the odd glass of vino. We were two couples and two dogs, there was enough space and the doggie drying area with lots of towels and a shower was brilliant once we’d found it. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

    Andy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the cottage for 4 nights and would definitely recommend. The cottage itself is set in beautiful surroundings and was very spacious, clean and had all the amenities needed (oven, microwave, TV etc). Communication was very quick and easy with Simon and Tracy and we received some great tips on the local area. Check-in was very straightforward as well and the cake on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is a great place to use as a base for seeing Exmoor (and has a nice walk signposted right from the cottage) and there are lots of great pubs within a 15 minute drive or so. Thank you to Simon and Tracy for letting us use your cottage!

    Rufus2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely time spent at Grooms Cottage in a truly beautiful location. Cottage is ideally located to explore Exmoor and the surrounding area. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and is very well equipped for a young family ...there were some very thoughtful touches by the host also. The local village is close by and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the local pub. My two young girls thoroughly enjoyed feeding and spending time with the animals who live on the farm. Simon and his wife were very kind, thoughtful and accommodating at all times! Highly recommend!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic time here. Cottage is snug and cosy. The countryside around it is stunning. If you get a chance, take the signposted walk. It's only half an hour or so but you'll be glad you did. Just magical. We've got two argumentative teenagers. We managed to get them to share a room and even separated them from their phones for a whole weekend with barely any argument. Now that is miraculous. It's got to be a pretty special place to manage that.

Gillian was a great host- friendly and helpful with her recommendation for a perfect place to eat after a long days walk on the SWCP from Minehead. Breakfast was delicious with homemade jams as well. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

  • Gillian's house is charming Olde Worlde with a sea view across the marsh, and close to shops of Porlock. Breakfasts are scrumptious. Tea and coffee in room. Comfy bed. Perfect location for walkers in area: Porlock Weir, Marsh, and the woodland hillsides either side of the vale. Quiet street, hardly any traffic. As its a cottage style house, you may hear guests early in the morning.

  • You have heard descriptions about quaint hideaways from many advertisers--nothing compares to this one! This is the real deal--a one lane country road with hedges on both sides for the last half mile. Once you get there--a tranquil location awaits you with a fantastic panoramic view. We enjoyed two days of peaceful Exmoor quietness.

    Kevin2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The annexe is in an incredible location and a perfect spot for walkers. It is immaculate, cosy and welcoming with a lot of space. Our hosts made a special effort to make sure we could find it easily, which we did. There was fresh milk and butter in the fridge for when we arrived and our hosts were friendly and helpful.

    Wendy2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Annexe. It had everything we needed, welcoming host, spacious and spotless accommodation, plenty of walks from the doorstep and just a short drive to many of Exmoor's attractions. Would highly recommend to others.

  • This little gem is in the Exmoor National Park with paths on to the Moor or on to the Bridle path taking you through the Woods, just outside the gate. The location is fantastic if you want to get away from it all ( no phone signal but WIFI if required) especially if you have a four legged friend accompanying you. My springer loved it ! The annexe has all the amenities we required and was spotless clean. I would throughly recommended having a break here.

    Dave2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is as described. This is a nice self-contained space with good facilities. The location is splendid for exploring Exmoor with the additional bonus of paths passing the farm gate. We stayed 4 nights and would happily stay here again.

Or simply relax amongst magnificent views and wildlife and enjoy the absolute peace and quiet! • This getaway was booked very last minute and there were issues with the pricing that air bnb had offered, but Staycation is someone who isn't involved with the day-to-day running of this particular accommodation. The actual hosts, Peter and Irene are absolutely lovely and will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The little added extras are a nice little touch such as the scones and the offer to use spare wellies. They have 60 acres of ground that surround this cottage, where you are able to explore and take yourselves on long walks. The cottage itself was lovely and clean and the log burner was put on before we arrived.. would highly recommend and will be on our places to stay if we come back to South West England.

  • Jude was a wonderful host. She shew us on the map some nice place to visit, that we would't have known without her suggestions. The house was clean and cosy, and there was a beautiful breakfast. Very good!

  • Jude's place exceeded our expectations, it was absolutely wonderful

    Annette2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I can't fault Jude's place, it was lovely in every way. The village delightful, the room gorgeous with nice little touches, the bed the most comfy, the cottage cosy, and Jude, so helpful and kind. Her place is perfectly situated to explore Exmoor, and warrants more time than I had to see it properly and do justice. I'll be back!

    Claire2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jude’s. Comfy bed, delicious breakfast, beautifully decorated house, useful local tips. Kilve beach at sunset is fabulous, as were fish and chips in Watchet and Dunster and its castle.

    Susan2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jude was a great host, easy to communicate with, generous, friendly and interesting to chat with. The house is quiet, and her garden and and the village are lovely. The surrounding landscape is beautiful and there are plenty of great walks, both long and short. Two of the three nearby pubs have excellent food (White Horse, Royal Oak), the third (Valiant Soldier?) has a nice atmosphere for a drink, and the food is ok, but it's not great (for vegetarians, at least). Highly recommended. Hope to see you again sometime, Jude!

    John2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jude was a great host and very accomodating.

  • Lovely tiny house, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need. The place is very quiet and the surroundings are gorgeous. We enjoyed the private space outside to read and sit by the fire pit in the evenings. The hut is conviniently located on the campsite: close to the entrance of the campsite and the toilet/shower house. Hazel and Carol are very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

There is an open plan kitchen living room with a dinning table and two sofas. Double French doors open on to a private patio area and which then leads in to the walled garden of Periton Park Court.
Periton Park Court is a secluded location at the end of a third of a mile private drive. With plenty of space for parking. It is surrounded by 30 acres of its own gardens, pasture and woodland with direct access to the Exmoor National Park. Guests also have access to Periton Park Courts heated outside swimming pool which is open from May to September. The gardens at Periton Park host an abundance of bird life including regular visits from a family of Ravens which we feed on the front lawn. Red Deer can be seen in the fields and they often take advantage of grazing our lush lawn in front of the house. From the walled garden to the rear of the house there are views across our fields, to the woods and a glimpse of the Bristol Channel.
PERITON PARK Provides a gateway to EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK. A fenced track crosses our fields to the south provides direct access to the Park. A perfect playground for Walkers, Mountain Bikers and Horse riders. For the adventurous Mountain Biker there are tracks prepared by local enthusiasts in the woods just south of Periton. Be prepared it's not flat. This is EXMOOR. If you haven't yet discovered Exmoor you are in for a treat. It is the undiscovered corner of the south west with quiet country lanes and uncrowded beauty spots even in the busy July/August months. Those that have discovered Exmoor return again and again. Why not visit Lynmouth on the way (about 30 minutes west of Periton.)
  • Amazing place to stay to take in Exmoor, Dunster, Porlock and the local beaches. Accommodation is outstanding and Stuart and Charlie charming hosts; friendly and helpful. The setting for Periton Court is gorgeous, with a lovely forest walk just out of the back gate - ideal if you are taking your dog. Eugene2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is quite lovely and spacious. Totally agree with description, photos and previous review. Kitchen was well equipped. Comfortable seating both inside and out. We were lucky to have fantastic weather so breakfast outside on the patio was a real treat. We were interested in hiking and Stuart gave us some great ideas. There is also a laundry room onsite near the barn which came in very useful. Highly recommend for quiet, beautiful countryside and relaxation.

    Sandi & Jim2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place is a Somerset gem. The small flat really is a retreat - quiet and peaceful, with everything you need and your own private little patio area for eating, reading and relaxing. We stayed for five nights, made use of the pool every day and enjoyed exploring nearby Lynton and Lynmouth, Dunster Castle (highly recommended), Minehead and a 5k coastal walk to Blue Anchor for fish and chips! The house and grounds are beautifully maintained by Stuart and Charlie and the location couldn't be better - within a few minutes by foot you are in the national park and there are lots of places to visit just a short drive away. Stuart and his family are fantastic hosts and made us feel really welcome. We'll be back for sure!
