“Lovely secluded place, clean and all the amenities you need. Each room has separate min-split AC systems, so everyone can customize their sleeping temp! Good Wifi - no cable/satellite, but could probably use your own Roku/streaming device (we didn't try). DVD's and games available, as well. Easy access to the river and nice mowed area to walk around the property. Can drive close to the river for those that cannot walk very good. Less than 10 minutes to San Saba.”
GVV Retreat is located in the heart of downtown San Saba. Enjoy the view of the town and beyond from one of our two spacious balconies while sipping a nice glass of your favorite wine from the two outstanding wineries located across the street.
“A true hidden gem! We’ve come here a lot... we love the amenities the patios the spacious rooms the updated bedrooms personally would like to keep it to ourselves but April and Erik have always been a really great hostess and we want everybody else to know how great of a place it truly is!”
This home was built by my family in 1916 when they moved to Texas from Alabama to claim land granted to them for fighting in the Battle of San Jacinto. Martha Cunningham didn't want to move to Texas unless she could have a home built like her Aunt Idora's plantation home. The home is close to 2 wineries, an olive oil company, a beautiful golf course, 4 parks and numerous pecan companies. The home has been restored with much of the original furniture and hard wood floors. It also has a great pool!
“This gorgeous old house was a wonderful backdrop to our Friendsgiving holiday! Some of my personal highlights included soaking in the deep cast iron tub, sitting down to our feast in the formal dining room and playing games by the fire in the sitting parlour. The house is steeped in rich history, with original wallpaper, family portraits and furnishings that will delight anyone with an appreciation of antiques. Martha was a generous and responsive host, bringing us kitchen tools when we realized there were a couple items we needed to prepare our meals. She's also a Pecan Queen and gifted us treats and coffee for our stay!”
