We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful traditional Japanese house. It was such a unique experience, and you can really see the thought and care the host has put into every little detail. The space was spotless and so charming. Highly recommend if you’re looking to immerse yourself in the feel of authentic Japanese living!

Modern and fresh apartment. All the amenities that you need. Loved the recliner chairs to relax. Great kitchen with everything you need to cook for yourself. Large and easy to use bathroom with washing machine. Great outside area including hot tub. You’re right next to a bamboo forest. So very peaceful. Walkable to Fushimi Inari Shrine and 1000 red Torii if you are able bodied. Naoko responded to every request quickly and happily. Loved the treats for breakfast. Thanks Naoko.

Our stay at Yamashita’s beautiful 100-year-old Japanese villa in Kyoto was the perfect way to end our 2 week vacation in Japan. The house is spacious, very clean, and well-equipped, perfect for our group of 12. It has everything you need and more. It has a serene garden, jacuzzi, and sauna—the kids especially loved the jacuzzi! Yamashita is an EXCEPTIONAL host—very warm, helpful, and accommodating. She drove us to supermarkets and places we wanted to go and even picked us up for a small fee. She prepared simple yet delicious breakfasts. She was quick to respond to messages and even guided us on using local buses. Though the house is a bit far from the touristy areas, the peace and quiet of Yamashita’s home made it the perfect retreat. It offered a more authentic and relaxing experience of Japan. I highly recommend Yamashita’s villa to anyone looking for comfort, culture, and outstanding hospitality. And to anyone looking for a truly memorable stay in a traditional Japanese home.

Chikashi's house is a great place for those who want to travel to major tourist attractions while experiencing Kyoto's real life. With the help of Chikashi, I bought cheaply used bicycles and hiked the banks of the Yamashina River and Uji Riverfront several times. There is a 24-hour convenience store as well as a 24-hour grocery store within a 2 or 3-minute walk from the house. The 24-hour animation fitness on a similar street is also great. Clean facilities with a private shower and even better exercise equipment. On the ground floor of the fitness building, the quality and grocery store is open until 9pm. There are various restaurants, dessert shops, and large grocery stores in the comprehensive shopping mall called Momo Terrace within 10 minutes. Three subway stations are less than 5 minutes away, including the JR Nara Line and the Gehan Uji Line, so you can go anywhere in Kyoto comfortably. Chickasi is a delightful and brilliant guide and diligent manager. I will always miss Chikishi's house after staying comfortably for 16 days like my hometown. See you again, Chikashi!

Ken was on of the most accommodating, friendly and helpful hosts we have met. In addition to the basics amenities, we enjoyed having a deck off the back of our unit with a table and chairs. We loved having breakfast outside while watching the birds over the river. We had easy access to the walking and biking paths on both sides of the river as well as many restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the location. Even though we were traveling during Golden Week, it was quiet at night and not crowded in the vicinity. Ken helped make our first trip to Kyoto (and Japan) a joy!

A beautiful, cozy apartment in the heart of Gion district Kyoto. Location is excellent. We enjoyed seeing geishas and meikos regularly on evening walks just outside the apartment. It was close to hiking trails, many sightseeing destinations, trains, restaurants, etc. In the heart of everything. And yet super quiet, being on 4th floor with no neighbors (above or on sides) in an alley. Only downside is that the kitchen is very efficient, single burner, no counter space, etc. But you should be mostly eating out anyway. Also there is a red light at night in the main room from the fire alarm—we had to cover it with a jacket to sleep. Not sure what other reviewers thought was deceptive—it was as I expected, and honestly the view is phenomenal. Yes there is a parking lot but you can hardly see it and beyond that are the beautiful Kyoto hills and tops of temples peaking out. Tatami room was wonderfully cozy. Furniture and linens were quality. Stayed super warm inside. We miss it already!!

Everything was fine. They were clear and responsive when you needed it. The place was nice and peaceful—a good location between the two main stations.

We had an incredible week-long stay at Ken’s place! Quiet location yet right in the center of Kyoto & 10min walk to several train lines. Beautiful river views. The space is clean & cozy, perfect for 1-2 people. Ken is a delightful host - welcoming, responsive, and helpful throughout. I’d book again in a heartbeat.

Depending on your style of travel, Kyoto can be an overwhelming place. Seibido Inn felt like a safe house away from the touristy madness, yet still close enough to access the major destinations easily. Some of my favorite parts of my stay were the quiet walks home.

A lovely authentic Japanese home. Well designed with all of the essentials. A nice quiet neighborhood close to amenities and the city center.

This time, I went to Kansai with my friends, stayed at Xiaodai's house for three nights, it was really great, the elegant Japanese tatami villa, the interior is also beautiful, the living inside is very comfortable, the villa is located in the rich part of Kyoto, the environment is very good, although it is not in the center of the city, the amenities are very good, the subway and convenience stores are within a very short walk.And then, Sister Dai is really super nice!Very enthusiastic. He answered all kinds of questions on WeChat before checking in. He drove to Kyoto to pick us up at Yamashina Station on the day of arriving, and then gave us a detailed introduction of how to play in Kyoto. How to take a car, let us contact her on WeChat at any time when we encounter problems. The last night also took out a treasure of wine. It made me feel like a host, but a good friend who has been hosting me in Japan for many years.

It was a nice, almost four storey apartment. The place is 20 mins away from the station. But it was a nice walk from the station if the weather is good. The view from the place is great. You can see the lake and the mountain. We love the nature the most.

this is a most amazing place we have ever stayed with air bnb, kitchen is equipped with all necessary cooking stuff and even various seasoning, bedrooms are superb.... Children have plenty of space inside the building and backyard for running, the space is more than enough for our 12 people group. ......... Perfect.......
