This is a private, single-unit rental accommodation in a secluded setting surrounded by nature. Time passes slowly, and every moment remains quietly in my heart. A rural landscape stretches out before you, and beyond it lies the beautiful scenery of Mt Hakusan. From the deck, surrounded by flowers, you can watch the beautiful sunset over the mountains. In the evening, gather around the bonfire, roast marshmallows, and enjoy a relaxing time under the starry sky. Enjoy a BBQ while listening to the sounds of nature. [House Story] This house was inspired by a childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cosy cabin like the ones you see in stories, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cottage that was due to be demolished just one month later. This house has been lovingly renovated, piece by piece, by my husband and me, like a work of art, to reflect the Nordic philosophy of connection with nature and to harmonise with the beautiful natural surroundings of this place. 4 km to Lake Biwa There is a convenience store within walking distance A large supermarket is also a 10-minute drive away. An old private house for rent just one group per day, surrounded by rivers and forests. Here, you can enjoy the time itself while wrapped in sound, fire, water, and stars. The music room has a grand piano, drum, guitar, and bass. In the pizza oven experience (extra charge), you bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and at night watch the stars and the Milky Way surrounded by BBQs and bonfire fires. In the summer, you can play in the river just around the corner, and enjoy a tent sauna (extra charge) in nature. There is a former cafe full kitchen in the old house, so everyone can cook together or read quietly in the library. Feel free to spend every “time you like”. The bath is a ceramic bathtub with Shinraku-yaki. Relax your mind and body while being surrounded by the warmth of a wood-burning fire and the scent of cypress. Not a hotel, but spending time in "our own place" where no one is disturbed. Enjoy such a luxurious time. Transportation is also available to the nearest station. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Azalea House is on the slope of Mt. Hiei, a world-heritage. To get there, drive 20 min. from Kyoto-Higashi exit on Meishin. Or ride the bus 30 min. from downtown Kyoto or 20 min. from JR Otsukyo Sta. and get off before Hieidaira convenience store. The host will meet you there. Bus service drastically reduced since Covid-19. Free parking space. Easy access to both Kyoto and Lake Biwa. Rich in nature. Completely detached, full privacy, handy & cozy like home. Self-cooking is available.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
