We have recently updated this cottage ---- with a new kitchen with a proper hob and oven, and also replaced all the windows and even the front door ! The Forge cottage is set on our working sheep farm, on the Durham Northumberland border. Ideal for couples, or people traveling on their own, the cottage is a great location for local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Durham, Newcastle, Kilhope lead mining museum etc., but it's also great for those looking for peace and quiet and country walks !!

Situated in woodland and fields is a small c18th farm with a beautiful light open-plan Cottage and spectacular views of National Trust Gibside and the Column to Liberty. Wild swimming, cycling and endless walks lie just beyond its gate. One of five dwellings, the Cottage has a private entrance and exclusive use of a small south-facing garden. Night skies are spectacular and often punctuated with calling owls and the rustle of hedgehogs & badgers. Bird spotting and fishing is another delight.

From the luxury of the cosy cabin, you can enjoy a dining experience inside the Hut or step outside and dine amongst the nature of the woodland. Enjoy a BBQ / Fire pit in the summer air or take comfort during the colder months. Charlie’s Hut is a spa suite in the woods, featuring a Hot Tub with cover, an outdoor bath which can also be used as a cold plunge.

Our luxury cottages are perfectly placed for tranquility and adventure set in the beautiful countryside of North West Durham. Only 20 minutes drive will take you to the world heritage site of Durham City and 30 minutes into Newcastle, with the most welcoming of Geordie hospitality. Both cities are noted for their stunning architecture along with superb restaurants and traditional pubs. There are many local attractions for all ages within a good walk or a short drive.

Stow House Farm Cottages, Cornmill Cottage

Situated on a rural farm on the outskirts of Durham, our three bedroom, stone built cottage has been lovingly converted from the farm’s former cornmill. It can comfortably accommodate six guests and is perfect for larger families or groups of friends. For those with wanting to holiday with larger groups we have Ivy cottage and Bramble Cottage next door which sleep 4 and 3 guests respectively. Beamish Stay - 3 minute drive from Beamish Museum

Beamish museum is located less than a 5 minute drive away. The South Causey is also located less than a 5 minute drive away. Durham city centre is a 15 minute drive away. Newcastle city centre is a 15 minute drive away. The Hilltop pub & restaurant is 1 minute walk from the property. The C2C cycle route is around a 5 minute cycle away. This little oasis of green is in a super handy location on the edge of the greenbelt, yet near the Team Valley, Metrocentre and Newcastle. There's a bus stop directly outside, with buses into central Newcastle every 30min in the day. Watergate Forest Park is right next door, with a fantastic cafe, lake, swans & lots of other wildlife. We're only a couple of miles from the C2C cycle route, with easy access to lots of other cycle routes & walks.
