Holiday rentals with breakfast in Sveitarfélagið Ölfus

I booked this room because I had an overnight layover in KEF and going all the way to Reykjavik did not seem like a good use of time or money. The check-in instructions were clear. The room was very clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. There was a fridge in it, which was a nice amenity. There was an occasional loud car (or teenager) going by, so if you're a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs, but it didn't bother me. I was able to take the number 55 bus from the airport to the center of Keflavik, and the apartment was a short 10-15 minute walk from there. My flight in the morning was quite early, before the bus started running, so I planned to walk to the airport. There is a bike trail that goes all the way from the airport to Reykjavik. I would say it would probably take an hour to walk from Keflavik to the airport, but a nice local stopped and offered me a ride. TL;DR -- This is a great option for a few hours' sleep close to KEF!

I had an amazing experience at this Airbnb! Birgir was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The space was spotless, cozy, and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was our Iceland story time with Birgir—his captivating stories gave us a deeper appreciation for the country and its culture. His passion for the environment was truly inspiring, motivating me to become more proactive about global warming and environmental responsibility. Birgir also recommended trying an Icelandic swimming pool, and we absolutely loved it! This was a truly memorable stay, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Very clean and tidy, we spent very little time but it was very comfortable

The room at Gudrun's place was perfect. It is sufficiently large and has access to a balcony. Kitchen and bathroom are shared, but this is not a problem. We loved the breakfast. Gudrun is very friendly and told us a lot about the area and Iceland. We would book it again.

After the hotel I had booked turned out to be an absolute disaster and I definitely didn't want to spend my last two nights in Iceland there, I urgently needed an alternative. I found it with Gudjon and his wife Liney. They are both great hosts! The reservation was extremely short notice. Fortunately, the address was provided and the two were at home. Before I got there, there was no communication. Within half an hour of booking I was there. When I explained the situation, the two of them immediately set up the room for me and helped me with the luggage and showed me the premises. I spent two wonderful nights there. It was quiet, cozy, the bed super comfortable. Pure relaxation. I was so happy! I haven't slept as well in any other place as I did there. Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay at this property! The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore the area. The host was exceptionally kind and welcoming, providing us with plenty of helpful tips about local attractions and hidden gems—we truly learned so much and benefited greatly from their insights. The room was spotless, well-organized, and very comfortable. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, making us feel right at home. Overall, it was a perfect experience, and we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!

This venue is very good. The hosts are very informative and give you all the attention you require. Their two assistants are also friendly, but as they have 4 legs and a tail (cat & small dog), they only come to you for company on occasions. They are well trained and will not bother you. The accommodation is large enough, and all amenities to make light meals are provided, plus there is a coffee maker ! It is placed just north of the capital, so it is easily found and is not too far from the airport. Overall this was an ideal opportunity to be next to local people who can assist you, but you also have your own floor of the building to yourself. The hosts offer various ideas for days out, and they print off A4 guides for you to take with you. The photo and video gallery they have is quite extesive, and their personal recordings of visits to the volcanos can be seen on request. Birgir and Björg offer a very friendly service, I fully recommend this option!

Had a great stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The host was responsive and made everything easy. Would definitely stay here again!

I can’t speak more on how lovely and sweet Virgie was! Her place is small but cozy and provides enough space for two people! Every evening she would ask us what time we wanted breakfast and every morning we woke up to her setting up the table preparing to cook. She gave us suggestions on some attractions/activities we should do during our stay. She also provided very detailed directions on how to reach her place. My friend and I arrived at night and were still able to find her place easily. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever find yourself having a quick stay in Iceland.

Place was clean and spacious… perfect spot for 4 people. A great food hall, supermarket, and other restaurants are merely a walk or a few minute drive away. The location provided was incorrect, but we found it when we mapped ourselves to Bella hotels.

Excellent apt new and clean centrally located

This is a perfect location if you want to stay in the center of the city. Everything is within walking distance. The room was beautiful and clean. The bathroom was tiny but served its purpose. It can stay loud until late due to location but closing the window blocked out most of the noise. It was a great stay!

Haraldur’s place was perfect! Really close to the golden circle and great breakfast.

Fantastic spot! The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was outstanding! We had a great stay and would highly recommend it. Wonderful hospitality!

Place was excellent. Comfortable. Exactly as described. Kitchen and bathroom clean and had everything you might need. Dagmar was super helpful and gave information immediately with updates day of arrival. Stayed due to proximity to blue lagoon and KEF and was VERY convenient. Grindavik is essentially abandoned. Don’t count on much besides gas. Locals were surprised we stayed there.

Modern room, designer decor, very clean. Very nice host and attentive to his guests. Great hearty breakfast.

We had a lovely stay here and were well looked after. The breakfast was a really nice touch. The location is just a short taxi away from the airport. Would highly recommend. :)
