Bula! Come stay in our rustic Beach Bure, just steps from the ocean. The Beach Bure is located right in the center of all the action in the village. Walking out the back porch you might find yourself in the middle of a volleyball game. Walking out the front door you can step right onto a boat to take you to pristine snorkeling and fishing or hiking at a sunken volcano. Our best resource is our people so come share some stories around a bowl of kava. We look forward to your visit!
“My boyfriend and I went to Yanuca for 4 nights. We spent some wonderful days with Willy and the people of the village. The communication and the transportation to the island run on fiji time, but once you get used to that you will enjoy every minute of your stay. Willy is a very attentive and friendly person, who will arrange the best experience for you in Fiji. We can especially recommend the camping trip to your own tropical island. Willy will give you some food and a tent and bring you to another island, near Yanuca. There you can spend a night on your own and try to be independent on an island, where nobody else lives. The village life and the people there are also very interesting to get to know. Especially the daily volleyball match, which you can join, is very fun. The meals are huge, cheap and very delicious. One evening Willy even brought us a big lobster! You should plan to buy around 1kg of Kawa as a gift for the village, which costs around 70 FJD at the moment. It is worth it, because you’ll have something to give to the community and you can also join the Kawa session in the evening. But the best thing about a trip to Yanuca are the unexpected experiences: one day, when we went to another island, we saw dolphins right next to the boat and on our way back to Taveuni, we saw two pilot whales. You can not expect things like these, but if they happen, it will be even better. We would also like to say that 4 nights were definitely not enough time for us, because there is so much to see there! If you can, we definitely recommend you to stay longer than 4 nights! We will definitely try to come back!”
The Raintree Bure is conveniently located across from popular Audry's Beach. Shops and restaurants all within 10 minutes or less walk. Large covered porch to relax on and the expansive yard is great for kids. Feel free to roam around the garden for fresh organic fruit and vegetables. Explore Matei by bike or by kayak, both of which are free to enjoy during your stay but they are to be used at your own risk. We are happy to provide free round trip transportation to and from the airport.
“I had a fabulous stay at Raintree Bure. It was a great home base for what I wanted to do. Jay was very responsive to messages/questions beforehand. Robert and Vinna were always helpful and available when needed during my stay, without being intrusive. I definitely took advantage of harvesting fruits, vegetables and herbs from the garden. In some cases, I had to use Google lens to find out what I had picked and how to prepare it, which was an adventure itself! It's worth doing a tour of the front and backyard gardens to see what's available before grocery shopping. Hot water is not always available, but this is easily remedied for kitchen purposes with the stove. It's a bit warm but the fans definitely help and all the windows are screened, so you can keep them open. The public beach across the street is convenient and quite popular with locals. The available sand shrinks quite a bit at high tide, but is great for lounging and looking for interesting shells/coral at low tide. Overall, this place is a really great value! ”

“The accommodation with Amoreena and her family is special in many ways. It is a real homestay. The accommodation is no longer in the apartment described, but in a small wooden house about 100m away on the same street. But here too you have your own room and a mattress on the floor. The house is getting a bit old and in need of renovation. The living conditions are also rather simple. 9 people live in a relatively narrow space without visitors. So you're in the middle of this family's life and have a little less privacy than you might expect. In the end you have to be willing to compromise on comfort and space. But if you get involved, you get something that you can't pay with money: a lot of humanity, warmth and a family connection. It was definitely the right decision for us. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. All family members were very friendly and naturally took us in their midst. Amoreena helped us plan and organize our stay and trips. We were kindly accompanied by a son to the Water Slides. She could also get us a rental car at a fair price. We always ate with the family in the evenings and it was delicious. The breakfast included in the price was plentiful and we were asked about our wishes. The pancakes and banana bread were delicious. If you're interested in people, the living conditions of a simple family on Taveuni, you've come to the right place. We felt very comfortable and found it a shame to leave the family after 4 days.”
