Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . Come and recharge your batteries at La Muyre in the heart of nature, lulled by the song of cicadas (sometimes also that of a donkey or rooster) and by the hooting of an owl... But you'll have to climb a ladder to go to bed on a mezzanine (1 or 2 seats), unless you prefer to sleep on the comfortable sofa (1 seat) in the alcove. Access to the pool (shared schedule) and the possibility of walking to the hiking trails and the river from the house...

The house is spacious with 4 large bedrooms and large common area open to the kitchen. Close to the Ardèche gorges and many of the tourist sites. Various hiking trails are from the house. I'll be there throughout your stay if you need anything.
