“Mountain View is an outstanding holiday home that is perfect for larger families, particularly those travelling with friends/grandparents (who can have their own privacy in the self-contained one bedroom annexe). The photos do not do the home any justice at all and it is far larger than we envisaged, both inside and outside. The home is surrounded by flower beds and tens of pots giving it a ‘country cottage’ feel. The pool is larger than you’d imagine from the photos and split into a shallow side for a gentle paddle and a deeper side for swimming. The home is brilliantly stocked – so often we hire places where there are six plates, six chairs and so forth but Mountain View could easily accommodate 14 guests. Everything is clean and well maintained. The hosts, Stuart and Nelly were fantastic both before and during our stay (including lovely touches such as a welcome pack of wine and home-made food upon arrival and gifts when we departed). It is an hour and ten minutes from Sofia, twelve minutes from the nearest grocery store and just over twenty minutes from the nearest supermarket (which is excellent). We had some great days out to caves and local scenery and would highly recommend Plovdiv, around two and half hours away (you’d need a very early start and late finish to truly give the place justice unless you had an overnight stay there). We had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our thanks go to Nelly and Stuart for a fantastic summer holiday! Who’s it best for? 1) Those looking for peace, quiet and family time. In particular those that want great scenery and a good hard relax. It’s perfect for nature watchers and we saw a couple of large birds of prey and a Golden Oriole. 2) Those that want a large holiday home with space, fresh air, a fantastic pool and other entertainment like badminton and table tennis. 3) Those wanting to be in a rural location but not too disconnected (the country’s capital is just over an hour away with shopping centres, major sights and entertainment venues) Who isn’t it for? 1) Those that want to walk into bars/restaurants and want clubs, nightlife – it is rural Bulgaria. 2) Those expecting to have a ‘Costa del Holiday’ – few locals speak any English at all so you will have to learn the hellos/goodbyes/excuse me/thank you and so on. We went in summer but I can imagine that the home is absolutely wonderful in the winter and both the main house and the annexe have woodburners. Initially, we were nervous about booking due to: 1) We thought that the outbuilding was separate. It is not and the hosts only allow one family on the plot at a time 2) We envisaged that the owners lived on the same plot. They don’t and are faultless hosts – a perfect blend of being available when needed but also respecting your privacy. Both Stuart and Nelly...”
If you like visiting small town, take a walk in the forest and to enjoy the fresh air all weekend long, then this place is your place.
“Marian's place is located in the center of the city of Teteven. It has a big balcony with a lovely view over the mountain tops. The apartment is clean and spacious (good enough for 4 people). We would have appreciated an oven but other than that we had a great time at Marian's place.”
It is a Neolithic village built few years ago to recreates the ambiance of the Neolithic era. Guys, there is no electricity, and no Wi-Fi. It is a true 8,000 years ago experience - exclusive, non-conventional. For those of you who really love to explore strange, sometime weird places.
“Together with our 4 children we enjoyed 2 days in the cabin. The photos give a good impression. We were there in high season / weekend so between 11-17 it was busy on the property. Then it is not very relaxing to be at the cabin, but after 5 it is wonderfully quiet and beautiful! A special experience!! Good toilet and shower close to the cabin. Also between 11-17 at the restaurant and picnic area by the way, we were really enjoying the Bulgarian leisure activities ... delicious food, live music and folk dancing. Very nice playground for children nearby. The restaurant is very close and offer good food. Apart from Grigor, nobody spoke English, but that was no problem. Everyone was helpful! Grigor picked us up very early in the morning to drop us off at the train 15 km away and helped arrange the tickets. Very nice!!! So if you want to do something special and adventurous ... this is the place to be!”
