My small garden studio apartment is attached to a private dwelling in Lorne. Settle in and soak up the North sun in my lovely garden. You may even spot our resident koala in the gumtree. It is a short walk to Teddy's Lookout and Lorne beach, restaurants, and cafes. The studio is the perfect retreat to relax and recover from the long drive along the Great Ocean Road The Queen bed with ensuite, TV/DVD, kitchenette, private deck with BBQ. Perfect for a short stay whilst exploring the Great Ocean Road, relaxing on the beach, bush walking, or sight seeing in the Otway rainforest. If you are traveling the Great Ocean Road Lorne is a great place to stop as it offers the only protected surf beach along the coast as well as access to the Otway Forest which surrounds the township. You therefore have the beach as well as the forest walks and waterfalls at your doorstep. You may even spot our resident koala in the tree. We are also regularly visited by King Parrots, Sulfur Crested Cockatoos, Black Cockatoos, Gang Gang Cockatoos as well as many other smaller native birds. We also often see Kangaroos and Wallabies in the forest behind our house and it is a very special place for us because of the wildlife here. Unit is located below and separate to the main house. It is attached to garage, entrance is through large electric garage roller door, then through glass sliding door. Sometimes the owners need access to the garage which also houses the laundry so the garage roller door may open without notice, mostly during business hours. NO WIFI.
The space is designed to be an affordable option for couples spending one or two nights in Lorne. Not suitable for more than a few nights as there is no kitchen. There is a small fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Clean throughout, recently painted with brand new furnishings, and only 200 meters from the beach. There is potential for noise from the house above. NO WIFI and NO KITCHEN. We are not the Hilton hotel nor are we a motel room, we are unique, quirky clean and friendly. Please check all details before booking.
The neighbourhood is quiet and made up of permanent home owners and holiday makers. There is public access through the property to the beach. We have kangaroos grazing on the grass nightly, black cockatoo, kookaburra, magpie and echidna. Sometimes you will see dolphins, seals and whales.

Our sunny swell view apartment is perfect for couples, or friends travelling together. It sleeps 3 with a queen bed in the spacious bedroom, and the option for a third person to sleep on the sofa bed or floor mattress in the lounge area (quality 100% cotton sheets of 1200 thread count, and feather duvets provided for all beds). Our courtyard garden is perfect for a sunny breakfast with Teak outdoor furniture, and also receives late afternoon shade under our mature olive tree. There are a number of iconic surf breaks a short walk from the apartment, including Lorne Point and St George River mouth. Walking options from the apartment are endless and include 10 minute flat walk (a rarity in Lorne due to the rugged geography) into town to visit Lorne's boutiques and renowned cafes and restaurants. You can be in the Otway National Park within a few minutes walk south of the apartment and enjoy cool fern gullies, peaceful and pristine beaches and abundant wildlife. The apartment enjoys split system air conditioning/heater, full sized dishwasher and washing machine. Pets - While this apartment is not suitable for most dogs, we operate a dog hosting business in the hinterland, just 20 minutes from Lorne. We can pickup/drop off dogs from the apartment in Lorne. Your dog/s (up to 2 at a time) can enjoy being treated as part of the family, with 24 hour personalised care, on our rural acre property. Our furry friends stay inside with us in our mud brick home, sleeping by the fire or in the bedroom with us! - if that is what they prefer. Dogs are walked twice a day, in the bush or on the beach. Lorne is situated on Victoria's Great Ocean Road, an easy 2 hour (approx) drive from Melbourne. Lorne is a unique coastal town in Australia located within the Otway Ranges. It has stunning natural beauty within a north-east facing, forest covered, amphitheater. Yet, the town also has a sophistication not experienced in many other coastal areas. The commercial area is contained within one main street that provides all manner of boutique shopping, a cinema, and high quality cafe's and restaurants. Given the Grand Pacific Hotel is located just meters from the apartment, its hard to go past for great ocean views, quality meals, craft beer, and friendly service. We also love 'Ipsos' a Greek restaurant with a long family history in Lorne and 'Movida' (a Melbourne Spanish icon) which has expanded to the lower level of the Lorne Hotel. The quality restaurants include Mexican, Japanese, Indian, Italian and an iconic burger joint called 'Bottle of Milk'. The best breakfast is probably at the Swing Bridge Cafe, located literally where the Erskine river meets the ocean. If you like eating on the beach, the Beach Pavilion has fantastic food with great winter specials. Good coffee spots abound in Lorne - try 'Moons', 'Swing Bridge Cafe', 'HAH'.

For main meals we recommend Cooking outside on the open fire or checking out the variety of restaurants & cafes in town. Honeysuckle Cottage is situated on a 4 acre property called 'Springwood'. There is other accommodation on the property close by including Jasmine Apartment, which is also listed on Airbnb. The property is up the top of Lorne, a vehicle is recommended as the hills are a steep walk. 1.6 km from the main beach and town. As Honeysuckle Cottage is situated on a 4 acre property, it can be a bit tricky to find. Please contact me if you need any help finding the place. It is a 1 bedroom Cottage. In the bedroom is a queen size bed. In the lounge room there is a single day bed. So there is an option to have a third person stay. There is a lovely gas log fire heater, that will keep you nice and cosy during the colder times. The cottage has a fully self contained kitchen, including a gas stove/oven, microwave, grill, toaster and fridge. The bathroom includes a bath with a shower overhead and a washing machine with trough. Linen, Towels, Hand soap and Body wash are provided. Honeysuckle Cottage is located about a 15 minute walk to the main town and beach. The walk back up will take longer with the steep hills. There are some beautiful walks close by including Erskine Falls, Cora Lyn Cascades and the Tramway Track. Teddy’s Lookout is about a 20 minute walk straight from the property. I highly recommend it!

Architecturally designed and built in 1985 the house has retained much of its quirky architecture. 180 degree views from Airey's Inlet lighthouse to Lorne's famous pier. Cathedral ceilings, airy, breezy but cozy beach house. 5 minutes walk to Pine Beach (“Fat Ladies Beach”). 40 minutes walk to the pier along the beach. Flat terrain walk into town, shops restaurants etc about 20 minutes or you could drive. Quiet position but not far from the action. Kangaroos graze on the lawn each day at dusk.
Kangaroos appear daily at dusk to feed on the lawn. Whales breach in the bay only 200 meters from the front deck. When the elusive Aurora Australis puts on a show you have a front row seat. Bird life is abundant but PLEASE do not feed them. FOXTEL, loads of DVDs to watch, music to listen to and books to read......when or if (!) you ever get sick of the view :). Please note there is NO WIFI at the house. Guests are encouraged to bring their own or use their hot spot NO SMOKING NO PETS.
The neighbourhood is quiet consisting of a mix of permanent and holiday homes. North Lorne is a short 15 minutes walk to Lorne’s only supermarket yet peaceful and removed from the busy part of town.

Three ways to see the Otways. How will you discover the Otway Ranges? Walk: Melba Gully About halfway between the Twelve Apostles and Apollo Bay is Melba Gully. Here dense rainforest builds in layers of moss, ferns, blackwoods and myrtle beech trees. During the day you’ll spot a fallen 300-year-old messmate and the Johanna River, but come night glow-worms sparkle in the darkness like Mother Nature’s fairy lights. From the car park, follow the steps down past the public toilets to the vast picnic area (with tables and a gas barbecue) to the start of Madsens Track Nature Walk. A round-trip of 35 minutes is estimated, but fast walkers will do it in little more than 20 minutes. You don’t have to go far to spot the twinkling glow-worms, but make sure you wear sensible shoes and bring a torch – though don’t shine it at the worms, or they’ll “turn off”. They can be seen all year unless it’s unusually dry. three people in a canoe along lake elizabeth Ride: Forrest trails Forrest’s 16 mountain-bike trails cover a distance of more than 65 kilometres, so there’s one suitable for every age and ability. The trails are split into southern and northern loops. At the southern end of town, the Forrest Loop is an easy, three-kilometre track that can also be walked. It branches off into the six-kilometre Barlidjaru Trail (it takes its name from the local Indigenous word for platypus), which takes riders to Lake Elizabeth, as does The Red Carpet, a 4.5-kilometre trail through eucalyptus forests, with tight climbs and challenging descents. There are three more trails on the other side of the main road, and the rest are a touch further north near Forrest Hire Bikes. You can BYO mountain bike or rent one for a half or full day ($50 or $80 respectively). Paddle: Lake Elizabeth Otway Eco Tours is so certain that you’ll see platypus during their guided, small-group canoe tours that they’ll refund you 20 per cent of the cost if you don’t. Owner-operator Bruce Jackson is a local guide and ecologist with a degree in zoology and botany. He provides a wealth of information during the tours, which leave from Forrest and last up to three hours. It’s a one-kilometre walk on a bush track to Lake Elizabeth, where you can paddle at dawn or dusk. Guests can choose to row or sit back and let the guide do the work. It’s $85 per adult, $50 per child, or $300 for a family with three kids. If you can’t make a tour, Lake Elizabeth is reason enough to visit on its own, with glassy water speared by dead tree trunks. While you’re there Conveniently sited at the entrance to the southern loop mountain-bike trails in Forrest is the Platypi Chocolate Café. Sit level with a canopy of messmate trees and order the signature sausage roll made with seven vegetables from the garden, followed by a deconstructed hot chocolate poured in local pottery
