“We had a wonderful stay at Karen and Toby’s place. We stayed in the studio opening out onto the pool. Really lovely to come back from a day of sightseeing, walking and swimming in the beach to then plunge into their pool. Our first morning in Barbados was quite wet but the house has a lovely veranda that you can sit under and read, look out into the pool and greenery. Catching buses is easy to sights such as Farley Hill, St Nicolas Abbey and Animal Flowers Cave. But people will offer stranded looking tourists a lift into town! Although it’s only a 10-15 min walk. Beautiful Gibbs and Mullins beach is also a quick walk away. Really enjoyed our stay at Toby and Karen’s gorgeous, immaculate place. Equally wonderful hosts. Thank you Toby and Karen.”
Beach Walk is a luxury 3 bedroom holiday apartment, ideally located on the West Coast of Barbados. It's on the first floor of the Ashanti condominium, which comprises just 9 units, safely tucked away behind secure electronic gates. There is a large communal swimming pool (approximately 24ft x 15ft) and it's just a short distance to the beach at Gibbes and Mullins.
“Great Apartment for people that prefer exploring over resort holidays. As for the apartment itself, Beach Walk is very well equipped, with 3 very good sized bedrooms- two doubles and one twin that can be converted to a double. All bedrooms have generously sized en-suite bathrooms with walk in showers. All bedrooms are air conditioned, and have cable TV The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you'd need to be fully self catered. The only thing we would have liked to have seen here is a few bits and bobs like tin foil and cling film - perhaps some sugar/basic spices etc would have been good as buying all of these things on arrival only to use 1/5th of a packet/jar is quite wasteful. The dining area has a good sized 6 seater table, however the lounge and balcony are only really set up to accommodate four people so that's worth baring in mind. There is wifi available at the apartment, but at the time of writing this review it is very slow so only really suitable for one or two people doing basic tasks at once. There is sufficient parking in a gated carpark outside, which is very useful as the location of the apartment definitely means you'll want a car if you're staying here. The pool area is a reasonable size, and was quite quiet for the duration of the stay, but there were only around 10 sunbeds + one round six seat table to serve 9 three bedroom apartments, so I imagine in peak months it may be busier. Also worth mentioning that the pool is only 4ft deep at the deepest point, and approx 6m long so you can't really swim in it. All in, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again as it had everything we wanted, but if you've never been to the island before I'd recommend doing a lot of research on distances to the activities you'd like to do as you'll definitely need to hire a car or use the crazy $2 busses to get to a populated area to the North (Speightstown) or South (Holetown).”
Airy and bright 4 bedroom home across the road from the beach on the West Coast. Wifi, A/C, large kitchen, perfect for families. Villa Chelbarina uses solar panels on its roof to offset your electricity use for a zero-carbon imprint. This is a very large home with 1/2 acre lawn, a fenced yard for children and a short walk to two beautiful beaches. See my other listing for a 3 bedroom option
“Villa Chelbarina is a remarkable place and the hosts are also fantastic. The Villa was larger and more comfortable than the pictures show. The location is also fantastic, the closeness to the Gibbes Beach was the highlite of our stay, truly one of the best beaches in Barbados and our favourite, the shade, the quiet, the clarity of the water will draw us back again. The closeness to the highway was also an asset to mention, we chose not to rent a vehicle and relied on bus transportation, having the main bus routes in front of your door made transportation a positive experience. Ryan the site manager is another strength of staying at Villa, his thoughtful touches in leaving some basics in the refrigerator was very appreciated as well as his exceptional availability during our stay, we always had a quick response to any of our queries and needs that we had. Checking in was also seamless and the amount of detail in communicating what was needed about the Villa was great including a very well made manual in the house that showed us everything we needed to know about the Villa and the community. The Villa was kept spotless both when we arrived and during our stay thanks to the twice weekly visits of Natasha the housekeeper. We also wanted to share some thoughts about the island of Barbados and its people. This nation knows how to make visitors feel welcome. We always felt safe and welcome and appreciated as visitors. Several times during our stay when we chatted with local people while out and about we were asked if we were enjoying our stay and thanked for choosing their island to visit. The people of Barbados are great and will draw us back for future visits, something to consider when choosing a place to visit. We kind truly recommend Villa Chelbarina for all to stay at when visiting Barbados.”
